Introduction

Crossroads Academy

Image
Crossroads Academy is an esteemed private K-12 school, located in Manhattan Beach, California, and serving students in the Los Angeles area. The school consists of three separate campuses for the lower school (grades K-5), middle school (grades 6-8) and upper school (grades 9-12). For students in grades 9-12, the school doubles as a boarding and day school, with about fifty of its students living on campus, and the other fifty percent commuting to the school daily. With an annual tuition fee of nearly $40,000 (without even including boarding fees!), it is no surprise that the school attracts many families from the neighboring wealthy communities, such as Beverly Hills, and other elite communities across the country and world. While it is certainly easier to get into the school with the right connections, and the ability to afford such a large tuition bill, the school does offer scholarships to students who display extraordinary talents in fields such as athletics, the arts, and academics.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Our story is going to focus on the 12th grade boarding students attending Crossroads Academy. Like any high school, Crossroads is filled with the expected drama and romance, and although it is a boarding school, it's not necessarily as structured and strict as one would imagine. A major goal at Crossroads is to prepare its students, especially those in the upper school, for college and the outside world. Therefore, they're given a decent amount of freedom, provided that their parents sign off on all of the necessary forms and paperwork. Students are allowed to bring cars onto campus, like in gorgeous dorms that are pretty much apartments, have an ten o'clock campus curfew on the weekdays, and may sign themselves out of campus for the entire weekend, if they'd like.

OOC/Rules

-Hi! Thanks for checking out my roleplay! After reading that short plot, you'll probably get the hint that this is going to be a pretty open-ended roleplay. There isn't a strict plot (although we will be following certain schedules/event timelines), and most of the drama here will be character created and driven. Therefore, I'm looking for writers who can be dedicated and write posts that are long/detailed enough to add to the story!

-Touching upon the above, if you aren't going to be able to post at least three times a week, please do not join. I know life gets crazy for all of this, but I want this to last, and creating a character only to disappear won't be tolerated. To reserve a character, post the face claim that you would like to use in the OOC. Please finish all characters within 5 days.

-I'm not going to be strict with face claims, and I don't mind if you use ones that are considered to be overused. All that I ask is that you make an attempt to make a character that looks like it could be a 17-18 year old. Please, don't try to pin a 30-40 year old as a high school senior.

-Character relationships are going to be an important part of this roleplay, so once your character is accepted, please start messaging other accepted people to work out relationships. We will have a specific thread for that, but creating solid relationships is key here! Drama and depth are more than welcome :).

-Please be original and unique with your characters. As stated, not every character here will be wealthy. Scholarship students will help to diversify the school and plot, so please spare us from making 20 rich, snobby, "I'm better than you" kids. I'm cool with opening up more spaces in each clique, depending on interest, but I'd like to keep each group semi-equal in numbers. Additionally, since we had problems with this last time around, no matter who your character is, they won't be exempt from school rules. I don't care if their father is the richest person in America - they'll still be subject to the same standards and rules as any other student.

Characters

As characters are accepted, they will be added here. Please note that all characters will fall under one of the three social tiers (A-list, B-list, C-list), and that you must specify the tier and group in your profile.

A-list students may fall into one of the following cliques: Royals (think of them as the ones who rule the school, even though they aren't officially the class presidents), and then right beneath them, Preps, and Jocks. The B-list students are typically Thespians, Artists, Wannabes and Hispters. They aren't outcasted by their peers, and generally have strong friend groups, but put more time and energy into specific talents and interests than in socializing as a whole. The C-list students are typically Nerds, Emos, Rebels, Outcasts, and "others", all of whom seem to have been rejected, or seen as "less than equal" to the A and B-listers.

Remember, originality is applauded here! Try to make characters of different cliques. I'm going to set up the boarding situation so that characters are boarding with characters in different cliques, to make sure that everyone is interacting anyway!

As for a character sheet, please feel free to make your own, as fancy as you would like. Especially if I have never written with you before and don't know how you write, please do your best to make your profile detailed so I can see that you can write well :). If you don't put much down, please don't be offended if I ask you for more. All that I ask is that you include the following:

Name
Nicknames
Age (16-18 -- all high school seniors)
Sexuality
Hometown
Personality
History
Clique

Toggle Rules

The GM of this roleplay hasn't created any rules! You can do whatever you like!

Today is the first official day back on Crossroads Academy's campus, and there is an undeniable air of excitement and jitters on campus. Throughout the morning, cars had driven up the long driveway that led onto the campus, packed to the brink with parents, children, and suitcases filled with everything a teenager could need, only to be drive right back down it a little while later, empty, and usually with teary-eyed parents. It was nothing less than a tradition, and though many felt it was sad to see their parents go, most students did genuinely like Crossroads Academy. The fact that it was located right on the beautiful California coast played a part in it, and it possessing facilities nice enough to rival top colleges was a perk too, but the relationships made while at a boarding school were different than at many normal high schools. They were stronger, or that's what many of Crossroads' students would tell you, anyway.

Like the other dorm advisers on campus, Holly and Brian had spent their mornings acquainting themselves to parents and helping students move into their rooms. They had moved on campus a few days before, and though this meant that their summers were over too, they were both glad that the school year was starting. While Holly had worked as a dorm adviser for four years, and had acted as a dorm adviser for the girls she would be living with this year since they were freshman, Brian was new to this. He had been a faculty member for Crossroads for a year before, but this was the first year that he was going to be a dorm adviser. Life circumstances combined with knowing that his paycheck would look even better if he was a dorm adviser had led him to accepting the additional position, and though he was excited, he was understandably nervous as well. He knew that this position would require him to take on an extra level of responsibility and respect for rules and guidelines, but he also knew that he had to be understanding enough to get a bunch of teenage boys to like him... or at least trust him. It was going to be an interesting experience, that much he was sure of, but he didn't have much time to worry during the morning, as he really had been busy helping kids move in. He was grateful that he had been assigned a senior dorm, only because that meant that there were slightly less parents involved. Senior students were allowed to have cars on campus, and that meant that in some cases, for those who had cars, they were driving themselves onto campus and there were a few less introductions that Brian was forced through. In the girls dorm, Holly was experiencing a similar thing, but by now she knew most of her girls' parents, and for her, introductions were welcomed anyway. She was friendly and bubbly, and far too used to this to be bothered by the first-day events.

Students had no say in dorm assignments, and only found out who they were living with on move-in day, today. Most students would make it to campus by two PM, and following that, there would be a dinner barbecue held in the courtyard for all of the students. Following that, students will spend the night getting back into the rhythm of being at school, hang out with friends, or attend the optional movie on the lawn, which tonight, will be showing Ferris Bueller's Day Off. At 7 PM, the school shuttle will also be making a trip to Target, to allow students to pick up any necessities that they didn't bring to school.

Victoria had never understood why Crossroads was so insistent on handing out random dorm assignments. She knew that the reasoning was valid, that if they allowed requests, they would be flooded with too many to properly handle, and that non-random roommate assignments would only aid in the formation of cliques and exclusive friend groups. At the same time... what was the problem with that? The students paid enough money where the school could afford to hire a few extra people to sort out the logistics and planning of all of the requests, and even with random roommates, cliques still did exist. In defense of the school, however, they were right that the random assignments did lead to some unlikely friendships. For instance, there was no way that Victoria would have ever humored Natalya Volkova with a second glance had she not been forced to room with her, and see that she was actually a decent (if not more than decent) human being during her sophomore year. Even with her own personal experience to back up the schools claims, when Victoria arrived at her dormitory around one o'clock, and was told that she would be in dorm 2B, she wasn't so sure that she would have a perfect year, upon finding the names of her roommates taped on a sheet of paper outside the dorm room's main door. Sheets of paper just like that were stuck along all of the dorm rooms on the floor, as a way of helping students find their exact room, if they had forgotten what the people at the front desk below had told them. Victoria was the first to arrive at her dorm, which meant that she had first pick of a bedroom, and was able to say her goodbyes to her mother without any of her roommates being present. Though she wasn't embarrassed of being close with her mother, she was glad to have those few minuets without any disturbances, especially because she knew she probably wasn't going to see the woman again until Thanksgiving. Their Beverly Hills home was currently undergoing extensive renovations, which meant that she and Victoria's father were once again living full time in New York. It wasn't completely tragic, given that Tori liked the Crossroads campus and had many friends with homes in the area if she wanted a break from her dorm for a weekend, luckily.

She spent the forty-five minutes after her mother left, with her bedroom door shut and locked, as she worked on rearranging all of her things, and making the space feel as homey as possible. Since her car was being delivered from New York, where she had kept it all summer, and likely wouldn't arrive until at least Tuesday, she was considering joining in on the trip to Target tonight with her classmates. She easily could have requested a ride from a friend, but sometimes the school outings were fun, even if they were something as simple and mundane as a trip to Target. Over that time period of decorating, she heard lots of foot traffic and conversation outside of her door, which signaled that at least one of her two roommates had moved in. Thankfully, the suite consisting of four bedrooms was only currently going to be occupied by three people, which meant one less roommate to have to deal with. It was likely that within the next few days, someone who had claimed that they wanted to commute, would opt for boarding instead, and the room would be taken, but for now, Victoria was content. She wasn't worried about having Charlotte Arnault as a roommate, because she was familiar with her. She was a bit bothered by her, given her close ties to the rebels, and how she had blatantly chosen that clique over the royals, a move that had personally taken a jab at Tori's pride, but she knew what to expect from Charlotte. Out of the Arnaults, she was definitely Victoria's least favorite, but she was still familiar. She knew far less about the other girl, Illiana Brahms, but supposed that not knowing much about her was probably a good thing. It meant that she wasn't someone who was going to cause trouble, or get in her way. Still curious, though, once her room was in order, she headed out of it, with her bath towels and bath items in hand, on a quest to stock the bathroom closest to her with it. If there were only going to be three girls in the dorm room for now, she was set on having her own bathroom, and allowing the other two girls to share. She had gotten there first, it was only fair, she reasoned, though the pleasant smile on her face as she entered the common areas, portrayed a less selfish attitude.

Michaela had barely considered pausing to glimpse whom her roommates for the year were to be. She and her mother, Diamond, had woken up early to complete last minute errands - errands that included dropping off orders of banana pudding (and Mickey may or may not have stolen one of the larger mason jars from the house to put into her suite's fridge, but that was neither here nor there), cakes, cherry pies, and a few other desserts neighbors and friends had ordered from Diamond Delicacies online. As easily as people presumed that Michaela had spent her entire summer doing nothing but getting into trouble, she obviously was doing something other than all of that. And she damn sure was going to if Diamond had anything to say about it. So, when the two of them arrived by one in the afternoon at around the same time that a lot of other classmates had (not that Mickey wanted to be on time; she would have rather had them take their time getting their nails done and such), Michaela didn't actually give one too many fucks about who her roommates were. She just wanted to get into the suite so that the two of them could get off their feet. They had still gotten their nails done and Mickey appreciated the final product, but still. Being at Crossroads earlier when she could have prolonged Karen's foot massage during her pedicure would've been so much nicer. She didn't know if any of her roommates had been present, but Mickey surely made it her mission to get one of the rooms farthest from the door.

"I mean it, no sneaking off campus for parties this year, Michaela," her mother stated from outside of the suite while Michaela finished up the final product for her room. She had gotten the idea from a DIY she had spotted on Tumblr and since she had some extra cash from DJing over the summer, Mickey decided to splurge just a little bit. "Whatever you say," she responded dully with an exaggerated eye roll, haphazardly tossing the rest of the pillows on her bed before sliding back into her flip flops. She took only a moment to spritz her newly twisted hair with the moisturizing spray she made last night and then headed out the door, closing it behind her. When she made it outside of the bedroom, Diamond fixed her with "I-brought-you-into-this-world" nonsense stare that had Michaela lulling her head back dramatically before straightening up as the woman walked over to her. "I mean it, Arielle," Diamond decided to remind her and Michaela groaned, stomping her feet just a little at the first sign of another lecture. It wasn't like Mickey really was going to listen. They knew this. She could pretend to...for like, a day. And then they both knew she was going to jump at the first sign of something fun to do. The discussion was completely redundant and only served to add to the slowly growing grey hairs on her mother's head, but that was obviously none of Mickey's business. She was pretty sure she'd actually get the taste slapped out of her mouth if she pointed out what her mother was hiding under the burgundy highlights in her dark hair.

"I said, okay, Ma," she reiterated only for Diamond to give her the "who-the-hell-you-talking-to-with-that-tone" face. Honestly, she had all of her mom's faces down to a T, which probably spoke to how many times she had gotten each and every one, but Mickey didn't really feel guilty for them. Obviously, she was her child. She was supposed to drive her mother just a touch insane; that's what kids do. Granted, Diamond probably thought otherwise, but she also didn't have to listen to the inner workings of Michaela Vaughn's mind. She just had to, you know, fix the shit Michaela's mind and Michaela's foolishness got her in to. And Mickey herself wouldn't call anything she did foolish. It was just...you know, what she knew her mom would be saying if she knew half of the things Michaela wanted to do. "Mmmmhmmm...you okay yo ass out this door and walk me to the car. Don't make me have to send your father." Beaming brightly at the thought, Michaela wrapped an arm around Diamond's shoulders - they were the same height now, so no more of that towering over her in intimidation shit Diamond seemed to enjoy, ha! - and led her to the front door, not bothering to get Diamond to help her unload the kitchen supplies family friends had gifted her with over the years. As much as Mickey appreciated her scholarship providing a meal plan, she couldn't live anywhere where she couldn't cook, let alone, bake. Besides, saying that she was going to send Michaela's father didn't mean a thing - not when the most the two of them ever did was go out for ice cream and laugh over some of the shenanigans Michaela got into. She had to get her meddling ways from one parent, after all. "Yes, ma'am." When she closed the suite door behind her, Michaela glanced at the names before smirking, pulling out her phone to first text Jazmyn and Charlotte, and then Nat.

As the clock neared 1:15 Natalya looked herself over in the mirror, smiled, and pulled on her jacket. The day had started early for her since she had to wake up at 5am to get everything done. This year her Uncle had finally finished setting up a local branch of the family business in California, which was good for her family but bad for her. Now not only was her cousin there to 'keep her out of trouble' but her father and uncle had sent Jax down as well. On the other hand, she finally had family in California and it also meant she didn't have to hire strangers to help her move into her room. That being said, with her cousin Viktor, who was the new boss of the local branch, in charge he used his authority to torment her. Instead of just telling some of the guys to help her he told her to ask the guys herself.

Usually this wouldn't have been a problem except that the guys who had been sent down were either new recruits straight from Russia or had been lower on the food chain and therefore hadn't worked directly with her before. Sadly, no matter who your family was if you wanted something done, and were a woman, you had to earn respect. Natalya would have been all for this except right before the first day of school really wasn't the day you wanted to get into a fight. And of course all this occurred at the last minute so she hadn't hired anyone, leaving her with the options of lugging all her crap up 3 flights of stairs herself or picking a fight.

After a few choice words at Viktor and a huff she had headed towards the front area of building, a club that her cousin had just bought to bring in some starting money. It didn't take her very long to 'win respect', though it left marks that were a bit too visible for her liking. Though everyone knew she got into a good amount of fighting, especially as a member of the boxing club, Nat tried to keep her street fighting discreet, not wanting any teachers or curious students butting into her business. Sadly, when you tell someone not to hit you in the face during a fight they don't tend to listen. Out of the three guys she picked to help her out neither of the first ones hit her in the face, but the third one wasn't as smart. He had ended up with a broken arm and she had had to pick someone else, who had opted out of fighting her, but that didn't make her busted lip disappear. Natalya touched the wound gently, looking in the mirror with a frown. 'Well at least I got my room all set up. Now I can just go enjoy myself.'

Shaking off her annoyance Natalya grabbed her helmet and her cell phone, right as the latter buzzed. Reading the message she smiled, and her mind switched to her plans Saturday. She had texted Seth with the idea of a kegger for Saturday(Since Friday she had heard the Nolans were planning some ack to school party) about 2 weeks ago and Seth had agreed to help. Now in a better mood Natalya put her helmet under her arm so she could text Seth, making a mental note to come up with some kind of nickname for him when she saw his actual name was in her phone.

To: Seth
Yo I just got the confirmation from my liquor guy. Four kegs and about 30 bottles of assorted liquors. Think that's enough for the entire senior class plus the extras? Also, Sophia was asking if she should be cooking or if you still wanted to have that barbecue place cater. Oh and the pool has been cleaned and everything, should be all set! Am I forgetting something?

Hitting send Natalya set her phone and helmet down on the counter and then hopped up next to them right as Sophia came over carrying a plate of brownies. "Oooh I get to taste test right?" Before the Hispanic woman could answer Natalya had snatched two off of the plate and was biting into one. Sophia rolled her eyes and set the tray down. "It's good you'll be gone for the next two days. Otherwise I'd never get all the desserts done in time for your party. You'd eat them all!" Natalya finished the second of the two treats and licked her fingers. "Whatever, I might be a pig but I'm not that fat." Both of them chuckled as Natalya grabbed her helmet, purse and phone, dialing Viktor's number as she towards the front door. "Well, I'm heading out! Just use the card I gave you if you need to buy more supplies and call me if anything goes wrong!" Sophia waved her off and answered quickly, "Of course! Adios chère fille!"

As Natalya walked out the door her cousin picked up the phone and she spoke to him in Russian as she headed towards the garage. "Hey did the guys get back alright." Going into the garage she hit the button for the door to open and looked at her choice of rides before going with her 2015 Harley-Davidson Street 500. "No, I mean the ones I mail-ordered online. Yes! I meant the ones who helped me this morning. Fuck was that so hard to figure out..." Viktor made a comment and started to laugh, causing Natalya to pull the phone away from her face to glare at it. Shaking her head Natalya lifted the stand on her bike, keeping it upright with one hand. "I gotta go, make sure ALL the guys know that if I see them within a 5 mile radius of my school they lose a limb. Bye." Ending the call Natalya checked the time, which was 1:32, and decided to send a text to Jax. The drive was only 15 minutes or so but even if he was at school already she couldn't talk to Jax yet.

To: Jaxy
Hey how was your trip down? Hope Viktor hasn't been bossing you around too much. Anyways see you around school. Maybe we could meet up somewhere after school tomorrow and catch up? Haven't seen you since the beginning of summer break before I went to my grandparent's house.

A few seconds after she hit send her phone went off. The text was from Mickey and Nat smiled, typing out a response.

To: M&M
I'm on my way now. I'll see you at the barbecue right? It would suck without you!

Satisfied Natalya put her phone away, started her bike, and revved her bike's engine before she took off, turning out of her driveway and heading in the direction of the school.

"I'm going to end up jumping off a building if I have to stay in that room. I'm going to fail all of my classes. I'm not staying there." Comments like these were just some of the many empty threats that Juliette had made over the past hour. Finding out that she was supposed to spend the year sharing a dorm room with Jazmyn Clarke, Michaela Vaughn and Natalya Volkova was what Juliette would claim, was the worst thing that had ever happened to her, in her life. As if sharing a dorm with three rebels wasn't bad enough, two of them were close friends of Charlotte's, and always proved themselves to be annoying, at best. Additionally, and this was probably what had pushed Juliette into the crying that had ensued after reading her roommate assignment, was that she had done something stupid with Jazmyn only the summer. It had only been a quick make out, and in Juliette's defense, she had been drinking a lot that night, but she had been sure that she would be able to completely forget about it. What were the chances that she would end up sharing the same room as the girl this year?

"Come on, Jules. It's not that big of a deal, especially considering that you're gonna fail them all either way," Nolan joked, and although he got a smirk out of Charlotte, the glares that his mother and Juliette sent him, told him that maybe now was a good time for him to go. "Joking, joking!" he defended himself, hands in the air in a surrendering manner. Growing up in a house full of women meant that Nolan knew how especially when the girls got emotional, their claws liked to come out (sometimes even in a literal manner), and he liked his face arranged just the way it was. "But I guess this is a good time to see myself out. If you need the muscles of the family any longer, I'm just a phone call away." He gave a two finger salute to signal his departure, leaving in only enough time to catch Charlotte's eye roll, but not long enough for anyone to ask him to stay. He had done his part by carrying almost all of the girls' belongings upstairs before bringing his to his dorm, and now, he felt like his job was done, considering that Juliette's dramatics were too melodramatic for him to be of any assistance.

"I'm not staying there! Mom, I'm not staying there, make them let me switch. This is so unfair and it always happens to me and no one else! Did you see who Charlotte's living with? Some weirdo, and Victoria! She only has to have two roommates and one of them is Tori!"

"Juliette, sweetheart, you know that you have to start to learn to adjust to change. When you go off to school next year, who knows if you'll be able to choose your roommates. We know Michaela and Jazmyn, and we know that they're nice girls, aren't they, Charlotte?" Jacqueline looked to Charlotte with a "you better agree with me" look, and only because Charlotte could tell that her mother was growing impatient with the tantrum that Juliette had been throwing for the past hour since they arrived on campus, she nodded. She didn't even allow herself to smirk at Juliette and add in a comment about how Juliette had first hand experience with how nice Jazmyn could be. "Yeah, of course they're nice. They're just gonna mind their own business Jules, just chill out for a minute. This isn't an issue that you have to freak out over."

"Yeah, that's easy for you to say! You're not the one living in a room full of druggies!" Juliette snapped, shoving Charlotte as if it the girl had just come for her, with her reasonable, and pretty supportive, comment.

Charlotte sighed, here she goes again, being the nicest thing that she could think as she watched Juliette grow emotional and dramatic again. Hitting Juliette back would have been an instinctive response for Charlotte, but with her mother sitting right there, she held back and only glared in her twin's direction. Nolan had managed to wiggle out of this little family meeting, and Charlotte was pretty sure that her tolerance for her sister was growing thin enough where if she didn't excuse herself, she was going to end up giving Juliette a real reason to be crying. "Can I please go now?" she said, clearly annoyed, but doing her best to maintain the attitude as she looked to her mother with a pleading look.

"Yes, and Juliette's going to go with you," her mother responded, her tone taking a sudden, sharper turn following Juliette proving that she wasn't going to even attempt to be sensible about this. "You're going to bring Juliette up to her room, and then you two can go on your separate ways. I don't want any calls from Holly this year about anything, involving either of you." Her eyes looked to Juliette first, since she was proving to be the more problematic of the two girls today. "That includes you pestering her about changing rooms, since we've already established that it is not going to happen," she said, before looking to Charlotte, "and I swear to God, Charlotte Lena Arnault, if I hear that you've skipped class or missed curfew one time, we're going to have a problem."

"But Mom! There's no way I--" A finger in the air was enough to cut Juliette off, though it didn't wipe the pout off of her face, even as her mother stood up from the bench that the three had been sitting on, outside of the dormitory building. "This is so unfair," she mouthed to Charlotte, the pout turning into a strong glare when her mother's back was to her, as she hugged Charlotte goodbye. Juliette didn't know what her logic was, in trying to blame her horrible roommate assignment on Charlotte, but she somehow felt like her sister could be responsible for it. The smirk and cheeky wink that Charlotte sent back at her, still while clutching their mother, only ensured that feeling in Juliette, and when it was her turn to hug her mother goodbye, the emotions attached to it were less heartfelt than they normally would be, given how she actually was close with her mother. "You two remind Nolan to call me every once in a while, would you? And remember what I said - no trouble this year," Jacqueline said, before forcing both girls into a shared hug, and then turning back down the walkway that led to the guest parking lot.

"I know you're behind this," Juliette said, being the first to speak up when there mother was only just barely out of earshot. She spun around, forcing Charlotte to jog to catch up with her as they headed into their dormitory. "You just love to see me in pain, don't you? It's another one of your weird freak things."

"Yup, Juliette, you got me!" Charlotte shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "All I do is think about you and how I can ruin your life, and I thought it would be really funny to pair myself up with your bitchy best friend and put you in the same room as both of my best friends, because me having the power to do that in the first place, and then me actually doing that anyway, really makes a lot of sense. Fuck, I've gotta be more discrete next time, because you're obviously the modern day Sherlock Holmes with these detective skills."

When the girls approached the elevator, they hopped onto one that was going up, and being in a small space with at least two other families, parents included, forced them to keep their bickering on mute for the moment. When they got out on the second floor, and the rest of the people continued up, it started back up just as quickly, though. "You're going to come to my room with me, just like Mom said, and you're going to tell your weirdo friends that they're not even allowed to look at me, nonetheless talk to me." Juliette continued to speed walk while talking, and only stopped abruptly in front of her dormitory door, allowing Charlotte the second she needed to catch up, when she nearly banged into a woman who she soon realized was Michaela's mother.

Charlotte had only just read Mickey's text, and taking the second to read that was what left her a few seconds behind Juliette, in arriving at her dorm. "Hey Mickey, hi Mrs. Vaughn," Charlotte said, speaking up for both of the twins, as she knew that Juliette was going to remain silent, yet not outright rude, in the face of another adult being present. "Nolan brought Juliette's things up earlier, but I'm going to help her get settled in," she said, smirking in Michaela's direction. "So, I'll see you in a bit?" she added, not wanting to keep Mickey with her mother standing right there.

Unlike a lot of her peers, Jazmyn's parents didn't help her move in every year. It wasn't that they didn't care or didn't want to be there, but it was just an inconvenience. They had come during freshman year, but after that, Jazmyn had insisted that it was unnecessary. Both of her parents worked full time, with packed schedules, and since she had most of her things mailed to school in the weeks before move-in day, she didn't need anyone to help her transport her things. In fact, she actually enjoyed taking the flight from Maine to California solo. It was usually over ten hours worth of travel, given connections and all, and as much as she loved her parents, she often got irritable after having to deal with the stress of them freaking out over her leaving for another year, on top of the normal stress of travel. She got through all of the teary eyed, emotional goodbyes at home, when her father dropped her off at the airport, and once she got to the airport at California, she would spend another thirty minutes reassuring her mother that she was going to be fine. Jazmyn would be more than fine, though. As her parents were very aware of, she loved California, and Crossroads. While many of her friends treated summer as a vacation where they could kick back and relax and have fun, for Jazmyn, it was the other way around, a lot of the time. She had more friends in California, and more fun there. Going back to Maine really just meant spending time with her parents, and while that was great for a few days, she was a teenager, and friends always meant more fun than mom and dad did.

Due to her flight, and having to take an Uber from the airport to campus, Jazmyn only arrived around two in the afternoon. She had called Holly, their dorm advisor, once she had landed in California, and as nice and accommodating as the woman always was, she had recruited a few guys from the senior boys dorm to help her move much of Jazmyn's things that had been mailed to the school, into her dorm room before she got there. The walk from where the car dropped her off was about ten minutes from the senior girls' dormitory building, but it was a walk that Jazmyn was happy to take. Dressed for the California weather, she didn't even mind the heat as she reacquainted herself with the place she had called home for the last three years. She spotted Charlotte's mother leaving the dormitory, but was too far from the woman to feel obligated to say hello. However, she was glad that that signaled that Princess Charlotte was already there, even if she and that one of her besties hadn't been on the best of terms lately. Jazmyn wasn't getting worked up over Charlotte throwing a hissy fit over what had happened at the country club earlier that summer. It wasn't her fault that Charlotte wasn't prepared for everyone, including her own sister, being susceptible to Jazz's charm when she decided to turn it on.

She just missed the elevator that she didn't know held that Arnault and her twin, so she had another minute as she waited for the next one to come, and during that time, she found Michaela's text message. It warranted a smirk from her, mostly because she was still ignorant to room assignments, but apparently, she had lucked out. "OMW up but are you for real? Yasssssss gurl!!! she sent to the group chat initially, before deciding to address Charlotte too, and only intending on the response being playful "But yes!! Princess, you better show your face late at night, and bring that sister of yours too ;) The texts only had a minute, tops, to reach the girls before Jazmyn had made her way out of the elevator and down the hall to Room 2A, that she had been assigned to. Just as Michaela had promised, it looked like they were in for a good year of room sharing, and though seeing Charlotte standing there wasn't surprising, nor was Michaela's mother, she was more caught off guard by Juliette being present. Since it hadn't been since the night at the country club that she had seen any of these girls, having flown back to Maine the next day, she wasn't thinking about that right now. After greeting Michaela's mother first, which seemed most polite and necessary given how many times the woman had hosted Jazmyn, she squealed with excitement before engulfing Michaela in a bear hug, and then looking to Charlotte with a smirk that suggested she was asking for permission before hugging her, before just doing so anyway. "All my bit--" she cut herself off before finishing that, and corrected herself for the sake of being polite in front of Michaela's mom. "All my babies back in one building! I love it. Now step aside and lemme make sure these boys didn't break none o' my shit, or lord knows they're gonna feel my wrath," she exclaimed, half-jokingly, but not even noticing the curse word that fell into this line, as she slipped behind Michaela and opened the dormitory door. While she did need to catch up with her girls, she needed to settle in first too, and it seemed like Michaela was busy with her mom, for now. She didn't even notice Juliette's name on the door, under hers, as she headed inside.

Just as Michaela and Diamond were turning away from her suite door, little Miss Juliette Arnault came stamping around the corner and Michaela's mouth unfurled into a grin. Juliette didn't say anything, which wasn't unusual, but Mickey couldn't help her reaction upon seeing the Arnault. It wasn't exactly the Arnault she initially wanted to see, but she didn't have much time to complain because Charlotte was coming right around the corner and Mickey, involuntarily, brightened up a touch. Which was totally because she was happy to see her best friend and absolutely nothing else...not in the slightest, nope. And then, because obviously God had a sister's back for once - he was really adamant to not do so any other time for some supposedly innocuous reason - Jazmyn was coming around the corner and excluding Juliette and her mood, Michaela's crew was completed. She returned Jazz's hug without fail, giving a slight squeeze before grinning and pulling Charlotte into an embrace despite the girl declaring that she was going to help Juliette. "Leaving me so soon, babe? How are we gonna make this marriage work if you keep dippin' out on me, sweetheart?" Mickey pointedly ignored her mother when the older woman cleared her throat, not even caring at all that they were in the middle of the hallway and that anyone could hear or see them.

"Hey, girls," Diamond responded once both Charlotte and Jazz had greeted her (though Mickey would passionately argue that it was a form of her mother cock-blocking, even though there really should be no reason to cock-block since she and Charlotte were obviously just friends, so shut up feelings!), and then turned a knowing smirk Michaela's way. She raised an eyebrow, initially, at Jazmyn's almost slip, though it wasn't the first time. At least, Jazmyn seemed to remember herself. Some people - which was why her smirk turned in Michaela's direction - didn't seem to know what control was. Or, if Mickey was being honest, she genuinely just didn't care. "Since I see that she's going to be nothing but distracted now that you're both here, I'll just go. I've gotta to go start on a few orders before I go to work tonight." Diamond stated patiently and Michaela gasped in mock bewilderment, releasing Charlotte (begrudgingly) to traipse over to her mother. "Me? Distracted?" She exclaimed dramatically as Jazmyn headed inside and no doubt, Juliette and Charlotte would go in soon. "I could never forget you, sugar plum. Don't you know you're the love of my - " Chuckling, Diamond only held up a hand and said, "Save it. Go help your friends unpack. Behave." Michaela only rolled her eyes at the repeated warning, but conceded, kissing her mother on the cheek and watching the other woman walk down the hall. She didn't feel too bad about not walking with her mother to the car, not when she was bound to see her in a few days over the weekend. It probably wouldn't be for too long considering Michaela never stayed still during the weekends, but it wouldn't be the first time someone could accuse her of ditching her mother. Still grinning, she glanced down at her Galaxy S7 to see a response from Jazz and Nat, and responded to the latter.

Charlotte only shook her head, trying to resist laughter at Michaela's antics. "You're absolutely crazy," she teased in a mockingly dismissive manner, before giving Juliette the gentle push on the back that she needed, to follow Jazmyn inside of the dormitory suite. Given that it was nearly identical to her own across the hall, there wasn't much for Charlotte to ogle at upon entering the place, and once Jazz was in her bedroom, most likely checking that everything had been brought up for her, Charlotte followed Juliette towards her bedroom. "This is what I'm not going to tolerate, Charlotte!" the twin who was the resident of this room whispered, in a clearly angry manner. "This disgusting way that you are your friends interact with each other. I don't want to hear it!" Now, Juliette even realized that she was probably picking a fight out of nothing but all it had taken was an hour's worth of events to wear her out today and make her even more irritable than she normally was.

"Pretty sure all I said was 'hello', but okay, continue being delusional, Jules," Charlotte rebutted, speaking at a normal volume level, unlike her sister as she followed Juliette into the doorway of her room, but didn't enter. As much as Charlotte didn't want to follow her mother's orders, leading her into the suite felt like the necessary thing to do, as if her twin sister needed some sort of body guard to protect her from Michaela and Jazmyn, who both clearly showed little interest in her at the moment, to begin with. It was all just Juliette being her self-centered self, where absolutely everything that everyone did somehow had to involve her, and though Charlotte liked to challenge that as often as she could, sometimes it was easier to just play along as best as she could, for the sake of everyone's sanity. Plus, at the moment, she was more interested in just shutting Juliette up and not stirring up another breakdown, since her friends were here.

Juliette didn't even bother to combat Charlotte's insult about her being delusional. It wasn't because she didn't think that her sister was incorrect and offensive, because she thought both of those things, but she had already moved on, and didn't want to disrupt her train of thought. When it came down to it though, delusional probably wasn't the completely accurate word for how Juliette was acting. She was definitely egotistical though, and it was just in her nature to assume that when things didn't go her way, even for very straight forward and simple reasons, like random roommate assignments, that someone else had to be behind it... That she couldn't possibly just deserve such bad luck without someone else meddling in the matters and purposely screwing her over. "You know what? I bet she was the mastermind behind all of this!"

"Who?" Charlotte asked, knowing that Juliette was referencing either Michaela or Jazmyn, but unsure of which one. She knew that it was dumb to even humor the ridiculous claim, given that it would only allow Juliette to continue to further whatever paranoid thought she was having about the world being out to get her, but the response came out of her mouth before she had time to really think it through.

"Jazmyn!" Juliette hissed, despite having already ushered Charlotte into her bedroom, and closing the door behind her. "She's probably obsessed with me!" Juliette exclaimed, in a still hushed tone, though with enough passion to suggest that she was very serious in her claim.

"You're out of your mind," Charlotte shook her head dismissively. "Look, would you just go across the hall and hang out with Victoria? I'm almost positive that she was in there earlier, when I put my stuff up there with Nolan. Maybe hanging out with her will help you un-activate this psycho mode you've been in all day."

Normally, Juliette would have simply rejected Charlotte's suggestion for the sake of disagreeing with her, but it seemed like the most logical option at the moment. Her bedroom didn't feel even slightly homey, so she had no desire to remain in there, where she would likely do nothing more than sulk, and she had missed Victoria. She hadn't gotten a text from the girl since saying she was on campus about an hour ago, so she was curious about what her best friend was up to. If nothing else, Juliette knew that having a new person to vent to about how much her predicament sucked, would be a stress reliever, so with a roll of her eyes that was brought upon out of nothing less than pure brattiness, she agreed. "Fine, but you better tell them what I told you. I don't want them bothering me this year, and I mean it, Charlotte. I'll kill you if they do, and then I'll tell Mom too," she said with that same hiss, as if the threats held any sort of semblance of truth.

"Anything for my darling sister," Charlotte replied bitterly, her eye roll definitely beating out Juliette's, as she opened the door up for the girl and watched her head out of the dormitory. She could see her sidestep Michaela in the entryway and though she hoped that it had been a silent, non-confrontational passing, she didn't try to look any further from her current viewpoint. Instead, she headed to the next door down, where Jazmyn was staying. "All of your precious belongings here?" she teased, leaning against the door frame as she peered in. "I would be a good friend and help you make your bed, but that text you sent me has me feeling otherwise." She was still being playful up until that point, but after taking another breath, her expression grew more serious, even if it was just slightly. "But can we just finally put whatever happened between the two of you that night to rest? I know you have your version of the story, and Juliette doesn't think that she was sober enough to know what she was doing, so it was clearly something that shouldn't have happened. Can we just leave it at that?"

"Did you pack the toothpaste?"

"Yeah."

"Your extra underwear?"

"Yeah."

"Your skin oint-"

"Yes!"

Ian almost shouted the last part, his mom turning to glare down at him through he pair of spectacles. Ian suppressed the urge to sigh. His mom meant well, but she was convinced that if he was not prepared for every little thing, disaster would strike. It was maddening. He could hardly wait for Elly to get here. He had already taken his car and most of things things to the senior dorms. His best friend had only taken him back home to say goodbye to his mother and she was taking her sweet time coming back with her things. He hoped he didn't manage to misplace any of her mechanical tools when they unpacked this year. He didn't hear the end of all junior year when he misplaced her wrench.

"Another thing, you should have had Illiana visit more this summer..."

"Mom..." he began.

"She is a nice girl. You shouldn't let her slip away..."

"Mom, please..."

"I don't want to wait twenty years for a grandchild sired in a desperate Vegas marriage..."

"Mom!!!"

His face was red and he was nearly ready to walk to twenty miles to Crossroads Academy out of sheer embarrassment alone. Thank God he didn't tell her that he did like Illiana. If she learned that... He couldn't bare the thought.

Illiana pulled up to Ian's house with a sigh. Her car rolled to a stop, and sputtered in a way that made her cringe. She would need to take a look at it when she got to the school. Illiana sighed as she stepped out of her car and stretched. Cenna had been away so she didn't get to say good bye...she had waited as long as she could but she couldn't make Ian wait any longer.

She walked up the sidewalk to his house with a smile, her mind wandering to the years of playing tag, camping, and tree climbing. She didnt knock when she came to the door, instead she called out jokingly:

"Honey I'm home!"

She only caught the tail end of the conversation between Ian and his mom but it still made her grin.

"Whose getting desperately married in Las Vegas? You have a girlfriend I don't know about Ian?" She asked as she slung an arm around his shoulders and gave him googly eyes and a kissy face.

"I mean aside from Hermione or...?" She giggled as she poked his side in his ticklish spot just below his fourth rib on his left side.

"Dont worry Mrs Butler, I will take good care of him." She assured his mother with an angelic grin.

Ian squirmed at his best friend's touch. They knew each others' bodies too well (and, God, didn't that sound so wrong) from the years they spent roughhousing as kids and Illiana liked to poke him there every chance she got. He responded by poking her back in the right armpit, earning a reproving glance from his mother. Her double standards on male and female touching was a pain in the ass.

"Illy, I say I like a film character one time and you never let me forget it. Do I need to bring up Q from that James Bond movie?" he asked, oblivious to the slight smirk his mom sent his way.

"No one's getting married in Las Vegas if I can help it, dear. And I'll hold you to that. I don't want Ian graduating a schmuck."

"This is why I don't bring her home much. You conspire with her," he grumbled, "Can we go now? Unless the Mystery Machine broke down again."

He smirked. He thought that name fit his friend's care to a t. There was always something wrong with it. You just had to figure out what it was on a particular day.

"Just keep him in line, Illiana."

Ian suppressed a groan. When did the she start treating his friend like his wife. He wished that Dad wasn't working third shift today. He could always be counted on to bail him out.

"Hey Q was damn fine, and I stand by that....and as for my Mystery Machine, its rumbling and making mysterious noises as per usual, but it should get us to Crossroads." Illiana said with a small smile. What she didn't say is that Q looked a hell of a lot like her best friend...and she had to admit, she had a type and he was it. She felt a blush burn up her cheeks so she gave herself an internal shake, pushing that thought away.

"We will keep each-other out of trouble, scouts honor" Illiana said as she did the three finger scout symbol (though obviously she was never a scout) before she gave Ian's mom a peck on the cheek.

"We need to head out, ya lyublyu tebya (I love you)" Illiana said as she tugged at Ian's arm in the direction of the door and started waiving at Mrs. Butler. Illy shoulder bumped Ian with a grin as they exited the house.

"So, who are you bunked with?" Illy asked trying to take her mind off of the thought of her best friends possible love interest as she climbed in the driver seat of her powder blue vw van and started it. It back fired and groaned before it started. It wasn't much but it was her's earned with her own money.

"Get in Shaggy" She said with a grin.

Ian's mother had scarcely hugged his friend back before she was dragging him out the house. She called out something, but Ian did't hear her. Instead, he examined how Illy's cheeks had gone red. Did she have a cold or something? She didn't seem down or anything.

"Your Mystery Machine is a screaming metal death trap," he teased her. At her question, he shrugged, "Seth, Nolan, Emmett, and Jax. It's strange how I never to to know any of them that well. What about you?
"Well didn't you get the King of the Damned crew?" Illy said referring to the other boy's statuses. She didn't have a problem with any of them per say, she just, didn't know how to interact with bigshots.

"I don't know yet, didn't bother to check. Figured I'd be spending more time in your dorm than mine anyways." Illiana said with a snicker. She knew how it sounded and she was okay with it. Her lewd comments usually made him blush and she loved it. It didn't take very long to reach their destination, if only because Illy had a lead foot. She was lucky on more than one occasion, that she didn't get pulled over and fined.

As they reached their destination, Illy slipped out of the van and unpacked what little she had left to bring which consisted of a backpack full of random stuff. Odds and ends really.

"Well lets go meet your crew"
She said as she headed towards the boys dormitories.

Ian rolled his eyes at his friend, trying to hide the blush that was growing on his cheeks. He knew she loved to fluster him and he almost always fell for it. Well, two could play at that game. As the car slowed down near the boys dorm, he turned to shoot a smirk at her.

"Just be careful sneaking out after curfew. We wouldn't want to be caught in an awkward situation," he told her, rather proud of the fact hat he hadn't stuttered or looked away when he spoke. As he stepped out of the car, he spotted Nolan. He didn't know the guy too well, though he knew of him. Few students didn't recognize the A-Listers in school, particularly the king bee.

As he stepped out, he waved at him, "Hey, we're dormmates, right?"

Jazmyn only inspected the boxes of things in her room very quickly, but at first glance, everything looked accounted for, which was a relief. She didn't need to spend the first day back, chasing down the boys who had volunteered their time to help her, and yelling at them, as if they were some highly paid moving service. Knowing that her things were here was a good thing, but as she sat down on the bare mattress that sat on her bed frame, she groaned just knowing how much work it would be to put her room together. Compared to other students, her bedroom wasn't going to be very elaborate this year. She was in a minimalist mood, which meant that a simple black and white theme would capture what she wanted, at least for the first half of the year. After trying to figure out where she wanted to begin first, she inhaled, ready to shout for Michaela and Charlotte to hurry the hell up and help her, when Charlotte appeared in her doorway. That damn smirk on her face had Jazmyn smirking too, even as the girl continued from her playful teasing about Jazmyn being anal about her things being there, and on to why she was opting against helping her right now. The smirk remained, but while it had been on its face for more innocent reasons when Charlotte had originally walked in, it was now there because it was the nicer option over laughing in Charlotte's face. Had her friend just asked her to drop the topic, without trying to insinuate the same thing that she had tried to pull time and time again since the hookup, that Juliette had been so gone that Jazmyn had taken advantage of her, than maybe Jazmyn would have dropped it. It just rubbed her the wrong way how Charlotte continued to paint her as the villain here, as if she had sexually assaulted the other Arnault. She could understand her being annoyed about the hookup in general, and she had been well aware that that was something that would likely come out of it, even before she pressed her lips to Juliette's, but there was no way that she was, but Juliette had not been that drunk. Jazmyn could be a bitch sometimes, but she wasn't going to make out with someone who was so gone that what they were doing wasn't being done on their own accord. Juliette was clearly drunk enough to lose her inhibitions, but so was nearly everyone else at that party. She would take responsibility for initiating the kiss, but after that, the girls had played equal roles in it, and it bugged her that Charlotte was so insistent on that not being what had happened, despite not being there to witness it.

Her smirk didn't drop, and neither did the eye contact that she held with Charlotte, but she didn't respond to her immediately, and only did after hollering, "Mickey, come an' tame your princess and help me get my shit in order!" She hoped that it would irk Charlotte even more, and though that probably made it seem like Jazmyn wasn't a true friend to Charlotte, that wasn't the case. She just felt like this Arnault wasn't that much less dramatic than the one who had the real reputation of being a drama queen, sometimes. Charlotte could rant on and on about how bad Juliette was and how she turned tiny inconveniences into huge problems that probably had nothing to do with her in the first place, and though maybe it was to a lesser extent, Jazmyn felt like Charlotte had a tendency to do the same thing. So, just because of Jazz's own personality, she found amusement out of teasing Charlotte for that, hence the "Princess" moniker that she had found fitting ever since the Juliette hookup thing had gotten under Charlotte's skin. "And the thing is that I'm not gonna drop it until you stop acting like I raped the damn girl. I could walk up to her again right now and kiss her, and she'd kiss me back, drunk or sober. I'd bet you one hundred dollars she kisses me back, child." She wasn't getting sharp with Charlotte because again, they were friends, and she really wasn't trying to start drama, but she also didn't like her character being questioned by someone who was one of her best friends. And if it took a little bet to prove that Charlotte was being offensive for no reason, than so be it. Jazmyn was down for it.

Once back inside her suite, Michaela glanced at the bedroom doors, for a brief moment considering going to mess with Juliette. It would probably be fun and hilarious, getting kicked out of the girl's room before they could really acclimate to being one another's roommates. Julie had the best little reactions and the way she scrunched her face up before going into a tantrum was probably one of the most hilarious sights in the world. At the same time, there was a large mason jar of banana pudding made the night before and while there was a barbecue about to go down outside, if the setting up she had seen in the courtyard said anything, Michaela hardly - if ever - forbid herself from having a little banana pudding. Indulging herself, she headed into the kitchen, grabbed the pack of paper bowls her mom hadn't put away for her yet along with a plastic spoon, and then opened the fridge to get the cold glass jar out. Because Michaela knew how to be good from time to time, she only gave herself a small serving, about four small spoonfuls before closing the jar and placing it back inside the fridge. She had just popped the plastic spoon into her mouth, soft crumbs of the vanilla wafers mixed with banana flavored pudding grazing her tongue, when she heard Jazmyn's call and Michaela perked up, skipping her happy little self towards her friends' voice.

"I am here for the taming," she announced the second she entered the room, not at all stopping to acknowledge the tension that might have been present. Mickey paid attention to things like that later. In the immediate, her brain had conjured up way too many (eager) ways to "tame" Charlotte, which probably said a lot about her and not necessarily positive. Grinning and taking a deep suck of the spoon to get all of the goodness off of the utensil, Mickey immediately turned to Charlotte, licking her bottom lip while purring with a very suggestive eyebrow waggle, "If you wanted mama to use a firm hand, baby girl, all you had to do was ask. I can do taming...what do you want? Floggers? Split-tips? A little hand while over my knee? I can be very accommodating...all ya gotta do is ask nicely."

By the time Nolan had dipped out to aid in his sisters' unpacking, Emmett had started driving his family's 2012 Range Rover Evoque. It took a lot of negotiating and honestly, turning the most convincing puppy dog eyes to his mother so that she could convince his father, but he got what he wanted. Emmett was responsible for keeping gas in the vehicle, but he couldn't help but sport a pleased grin all the way to Crossroads. Typically, his father accompanied him on the ride to Crossroads, bought him some last minute grub as if they wouldn't see one another over the weekend, and then they would unpack before parting ways, what with Emmett not having a vehicle until the weekend. However, because it was his senior year - and again, there was something about blue puppy dog eyes turned to a mother already emotional because her baby boy was about to begin his final year of high school and was one step closer to leaving her forever (she's just that dramatic) - and Emmett had worked most of the summer at his Dad's shop, he was able to get the car. It wasn't some fancy or super expensive vehicle a few of his classmates were known for, but it said something that Emmett did have one. He didn't have to depend on Nolan or anyone else to give him a ride this year if they decided to eat off campus or just go somewhere once classes were done.

While he didn't have much other than a few different blankets, pillows and sheets, Emmett was pleased with what he did wind up scrounging together to get his room in order. There were no shelves like at home, but the bean bag he had managed to get on a whim fit the blanket and sheets his mother had packed and it was simple. He didn't see the need to make a dorm room something extravagant; he just wanted it to at least look attractive. Once he was done, he threw himself on the bed, running a hand over his short blonde hair. At the moment, most of it had been brushed back, but the humid summer breeze had tousled his locks just a bit. With nothing more to do than to wait for the barbecue to really start and with no way of knowing if Nolan was back yet, Emmett pulled out his phone to text his friends.

If only Charlotte had had more than a few seconds before Michaela walked in... If only. While she wanted to believe that she would have said something so bitterly that it might have actually hurt their friendship, she knew that probably wouldn't have happened, even if Michaela had showed up ten minutes later. She didn't know why this thing with Jazmyn and Juliette was bothering her so much. She wondered if she was really so bothered because she was a good sister and wanted to stick up for Juliette, or if it was something more. After all, Juliette had never actually denied liking what had happened, and she had never claimed that she regretted it or even showed much distress about the whole thing, like Charlotte imagined she would have done. The closest thing that she had done, to express any sort of remorse, was like what she had said a few minutes ago, about claiming that Jazmyn was obsessed with her. They were the same very general kinds of comments that Juliette would make about anyone. One would imagine that given the predicament, someone with as big of a mouth as Juliette would have had a lot more of more specific insults to make. Could it be that Charlotte was bothered with the idea of her friends interacting with Juliette in... dare she say it... a positive manner? Was she actually that pathetic, that she liked her friends being on her side about anything family oriented, and that she didn't want them dabbling with Juliette in any other means than listening to Charlotte's rants about her? And maybe, just maybe was there a part of her that was insecure about Juliette always being the more "traditional" daughter? The one who ended up being friends with all of the right people to please their parents, who was always eager to attend the elegant parties and balls that made their parents look good? So was it possible that that side of her was speaking in the back of her mind, that Juliette getting close to any of her friends, even in such a nonsensical way like that drunk hookup, made Charlotte nervous about somehow having her friends stolen? Maybe, but she wouldn't let herself think about it too deeply.

While Charlotte wanted to remain annoyed and pissed off, it was hard to do so when Michaela came in talking like... that. With such a light complexion, it was very easy to tell when Charlotte was feeling flustered, and the redness of her face right now spoke to how much she hated that about herself. She thought that Michaela was joking, which she was, but probably in less of a sense than Charlotte thought she was. This was how Michaela always was, she reassured herself, so she didn't know why she was more bothered by it today, than she usually was. Maybe it was because Jazmyn wasn't letting go of the thing with Juliette, or because Juliette had already made her tense this morning, or a combination of it all. Either way, she wasn't as quick as she normally would have been to offer Michaela an equally cheeky rebuttal, or shut her down in a more witty way. All she could say, while her head shook back and forth, and her expression softened noticeably from what it had been while addressing Jazmyn, was, "The only person who needs a firm hand used on them is this bitch over here, and seeing as she loves getting up close and personal with people, I think that third option sounds about right." she said, nodded her head towards Jazmyn, though her eyes remained on Michaela. Still feeling playful, she winked at Michaela, and decided to mimic her playful flirtation. "And I guess I'm not as experienced as you, but I don't even know what option two is, so save that one for me. You know, for when I'm in the mood to experiment." She couldn't keep her face serious after that, and a laugh escaped, signaling that she just wasn't as good at the flirtation as Michaela was. "But really, I know my sister's annoying and I wouldn't wish rooming with her on my worst enemy, but if you - actually, you two don't do me the biggest favor of your lives and not instigate anything with her this year, I would seriously owe you one," she plead her case, while sitting down beside Jazmyn on the unmade bed. In a move she would probably regret, though it spoke to her more impulsive side, she nudged Jazmyn's arm and said, "Besides, we all know you'd lose that bet in a minute, and I don't wanna run you out of one hundred dollars before classes even start." Because she believed that Juliette actually would never do that again, she didn't feel bad playing into Jazmyn's insistence on the matter. "But, if you're not gonna let up with it, I guess I'm not against becoming a hundred dollars richer over night. You only have twenty four hours though. Sounds fair, right Mickey? And then after that, I'll buy us all a couple bottles of Absolut, and you two can promise not to do anything to her that'll end up making my life hell, kay?"

After setting up her things in the bathroom, Victoria heard something going on outside of the dormitory apartment. The inside of the dormitory sounded silent, so she assumed that that meant that Charlotte and Illiana, her two roommates, were not inside. Figuring that it was one of them struggling to open the door, she decided to be a good person and open it up for them herself, but when she pulled the front door open, she found that it was actually their dorm advisor, Holly, outside. The blonde smiled at Victoria, and after the expected greetings, which whenever involving Holly, always included a prolonged hug, Holly explained that she was actually only over here because she had been swapping the old roommate sheet that was on their door, with a new one. Apparently, there had been a mix-up with the original rooming arrangements, and that extra bedroom in their suite was going to be filled immediately, by Amelia Ortega. The idea of having to share the suite with one more person dampened Tori's mood, even though it was something that was to be expected, given that it was a four bedroom suite, but Tori didn't let the disappointment show on her face. She maintained her cheerful disposition until she and Holly had finished exchanging pleasantries, and just before she could shut the dorm room door, she spotted Juliette headed straight towards her.

"Finally!" she squealed, her first reaction to seeing the girl being a tight embrace. She noticed the bothered look on Juliette's face as soon as she had gotten close enough, but she decided not to reference it right away. She was too glad that she was being reunited with her best friend, who she loved enough that only three or four weeks apart, since they had last seen each other in New York, had felt like an eternity. "I'm all moved in, some I'm totally ready to catch up. I guess your sister's not here, and I'm pretty sure that Illiana and Amelia, who I'm supposed to share this place with, aren't here either, so we can stay here. Who are you rooming with by the way, though?" It wasn't surprising that Victoria had spent her time, since arriving at Crossroads, focusing on herself and only herself. In her defense, it would have been impossible for her to have been of any help to the whole Juliette-drama situation, if she knew that she had boxes upon boxes of unpacked things in her room, waiting for her. Now that she was settled in, she was ready to socialize, and not just with Juliette. As she led the girl inside, she texted Nolan, Emmett and Seth, in a group chat saying, "My boys better find me at the barbecue later! No excuses ;)".

You could always count on Michaela to lighten the mood, and her appearance was a good reminder in general, of how typically, there friend group was pretty drama free. The girls focused on having a good time, and that was what had initially drawn Jazmyn to both Charlotte and Michaela. She learned to deal with their flaws, because she knew she had some of her own too, but even then, it was always their positive traits that overrode the negative ones. So, even if she had wanted to knock Charlotte out (which she hadn't) before Michaela came in, all it took was her taking Jazmyn's order to tame Charlotte to a whole new level, and Charlotte playing into it, to have Jazmyn laughing out loud. Of course, that laughter didn't come free of some side eye looks sent in Michaela's direction, because while she knew that at least Charlotte was probably being genuinely playful in her flirting, the same couldn't be said, for sure, about Michaela. It was always harder to tell with her, when it came to Charlotte, because while the girl flirted with nearly everyone, it always seemed just a little different with their shared friend... a little bit more genuine in its sexual nature, and less so in the playful nature. Jazmyn couldn't blame her, and she also wasn't surprised, given that she and Michaela had had a little hookup of their own. It was nothing serious, and not an instance where either party caught feelings which was good, but it left Jazmyn curious in situations like this. She wondered whether Michaela actually wanted to be seriously flirtatious with Charlotte to create something real, or if she wanted to test Charlotte out to see if her other closest friendship could withstand the power of something more than friendship, and still exist as just a friendship the next morning. Maybe it was just Jazz wanting to act like she was superior to Charlotte emotionally, but she doubted the Arnault could spend any amount of time with Mickey in that way, and come out of it emotionally unscathed. As Jazmyn teased, Charlotte was a princess with more feelings than she liked to admit.

"You see this bitch getting all cocky on me, Mickey? Tell her about the power of these here lips," she said, a theatrical amount of drama being added into the amount of offense she feigned feeling, upon Charlotte brushing off how likely it was for her to get Juliette to kiss her again. "These lips hypnotized this hoe, just like they did your sister," she said, looked back at Charlotte and speaking in an informative manner. "Shake on it right now, but the only catch is that if I win, I actually don't want your daddy's money. If I win, Mickey's testing out her split-tips on you tomorrow night at your house." The smirk on her lip only somewhat suggested that she was playing into the playfulness that both girls had been tinkering with in the exchange. Maybe Jazmyn was playing with fire, as she extended her hand, but at least now, if she won, Mickey owed her some sort of favor, and Jazmyn had enough of a sweet tooth to know that the girl could pay her off right in their kitchen.

The Crossroads Academy Senior Class Resident Life Activities Group
In addition to the first day trip to Target and the movie on the lawn, each class has a class-wide activity that the resident advisors put on. This year, the seniors will be participating in a game of "Assassin".

The game works by each student being assigned a "target". Their mission is then to stick a Post-It note to that student, take a photo of it, and post it to the class' Facebook group. Once you "assassinate" your target in that manner, then their target becomes your new target. The game continues until only one person is left. The game will end for the day at 10 PM tonight, when curfew is called for, but if a winner is not crowned by then, it will continue into the next day.

The lineup for the game will begin with:
Victoria trying to assassinate Ian.
Ian trying to assassinate Natalya.
Natalya trying to assassinate Seth.
Seth trying to assassinate Charlotte.
Charlotte trying to assassinate Michaela.
Michaela trying to assassinate Jax.
Jax trying to assassinate Amelia.
Amelia trying to assassinate Jazmyn.
Jazmyn trying to assassinate Juliette.
Juliette trying to assassinate Emmett.
Emmett trying to assassinate Illiana.
Illiana trying to assassinate Nolan.
Nolan trying to assassinate Victoria.

Holly and Brian have just posted to the group to start them game, so everyone should be getting the notifications now to their phones, with private messages from the advisors with who their target it (so no one knows who they can feel safe around!)... and go!

The amount of pleasure Michaela derived from how quickly Charlotte turned red should have been illegal, but Mickey couldn't even think to feel anything other than glee. Her grin stretched wide and proud, and she knew she was beaming, giggling right along with Jazmyn's boisterous laughter. While Mickey had come in on the latter end of their conversation, she was more than happy to suffuse whatever burgeoning tension that might have been. Michaela understood that there were complexities within this thing that people called life; regardless of how much everyone should live while they're young and such, there were moments where things got a little dark. And perhaps it said something about her lapse in maturity - the fact that Mickey had a tendency to avoid being overtly serious about much of anything - that she seemed unable to reconcile with the idea that her friends could really have an actual issue on their hands. As far as she was concerned, there friend group was probably one of the most unproblematic (and she knew there was someone out there who would argue against that statement to their grave) and resolutely drama-free of them all. Or, at least at Crossroads. There was always something wrong within a group. But Michaela liked to think that disallowed there to be anything particularly damaging to their foundation. They were cemented in being young, careless and dumb with a smidgen of possible protectiveness considering how long they had been a trio. So, she was determined to ignore the fact that there was something consequential. Besides, Charlotte's reaction was enough to have even Mickey not paying attention to their drama.

"Yep, very hypnotizing, chocolate drop," she replied over a new mouthful of pudding, sucking on the spoon rather indecently while giving Jazmyn a very sarcastically indulgent stare. When she released the spoon again, she added, "Still recuperating. As long as me, myself and I get something outta this, y'all can shake on the world ending for all I care." Michaela returned her spoon to her bowl, scooping out half of a crumbled and delicious wafer along with some more of the actual pudding, and would have eagerly taken another bite if her phone had vibrated in her pocket. With the heartbeat sensation against her thigh, Mickey curiously pulled it out as she only had the vibration setting for Facebook notifications and opened the screen to fully read the contents. "Looks like we're playing Assassin this year. Sounds sexy." She tossed a surreptitious glance Charlotte's way and inquired, "Gonna have me at your mercy, babydoll?"

Natalya's drive to the shool was relatively short, as she expected. Even though she had gotten caught in the lunch hour traffic rush she had just driven between a few cars and taken a few back roads. Though lane splitting was supposedly illegal no cops saw her, so as far as Natalya was concerned it was fine. When she did actually reach the school she weaved through the traffic of arriving and departing parents and students easily, the path to the senior lot being far less crowded compared to the path to the guest lot. It didn't take her long to find a parking spot, there being a decent amount of motorcycle parking spots and very few people who actually rode. Turning off her bike Natalya pulled off her helmet and shook out her hair with a huff. Setting her helmet down she pulled her phone out of her pocket and scowled when she saw she had taken 17 minutes to get there, as if the extra two minutes were a personal offence. A moment later she heard a wolf whistle from her right and turned to see Josh, a fellow rebel, and one of his friends. "Damn Nat, the summer did you well! You free later?" Him and his friend laughed as Nat ignored them and grabbed her helmet and purse. Starting towards the girls dorm Natalya rolled her eyes and called over her shoulder while she was still within hearing distance. "Hey Josh, Boxing Club meets back up next Thursday. Don't be late!" Josh swore loudly and his friend's laughter grew louder, causing Natalya to chuckle a bit herself.

Once she reached the dorm she walked, looking around the common room before walking passed the elevator and towards the stairwell. A few freshman gave her weird looks but Natalya ignored them in favor of checking her phone. As she looked through it she saw that Michaela had responded to her and that she had a facebook message. Checking the text as she started up the first flight of stairs Natalya actually laughed at Mickey's response.

To: M&M
XD Says the best cook in the senior class! Whatever, guess I shouldn't have expected more, food's always been your weakness. Lol By the way I just got here, I'm on my way up the stairs.

Natalya hit send right as the first flight of stairs ended in a platform. Turning the corner she started up the second flight, not even slightly out of breath. Clicking over she checked her FB message and a wicked grin lit up her face. Switching back over to her texting app she sent a second text to Seth, who had yet to respond to her. Albeit, after she renamed him in her phone.

To: Party Boy
I suggest just making this easier on yourself and coming to me before I come looking for you. Of course, I'd enjoy the latter much more so your choice.

Since Natalya didn't know who Ian was she decided to just keep one eye open. Reaching the top of the second flight of stairs Natalya exited the stairwell, sending a wave to Holly as she passed her, and heading towards Dorm 2A. Once she got there she walked in and headed straight for her room, wanting to avoid Juliette who she knew was supposed to be staying there as well.

"Just be careful sneaking out after curfew. We wouldn't want to be caught in an awkward situation," Ian said in an insinuating tone.

“Oh honey Awkward is my middle name…” Illiana said with a grin trying to outdo her friend. Then she faked fear and gasped dramatically.

“Oh no! What if they catch me in my Pokémon footy jammies!” She said with a grin. She ran her hands through her hair as she fell silent, into her normal bookish self as Ian greeted Nolan. Before Nolan could answer Illiana’s phone rang, playing the 007 theme song. She felt her cheeks flame before she read the notification.

“Hey guys, I guess there is a game going on…. something about assassinating each-other…sounds like a super healthy way to get to know each-other.” Illiana said sarcastically. She kept reading and giggled a little as she realized Nolan was her target. She

“Oh dear, it looks like I have to come up with a plan of attack.” Illiana said with a laugh and a wink.

“So, uh, gotta go. Ian, text me”She said as she exited the room keeping her eyes open for someone named Emmett as he was her targets roommate and might know his habits.

Nolan was still outside when he was approached by a pair of people who he normally would have walked right by without thinking twice about. After leaving his sisters and mother outside of the senior girls' dormitory building, Nolan had headed over to the boys' one, but had gotten sidetracked outside of it, as he spoke to some guys from the baseball team. They were just leaving his side when Illiana and Ian approached, and though Nolan knew Ian from classes and liked him from what he knew, they weren't friendly enough where he would have imagined that the guy would have just wanted to strike up a random conversation. When Ian began to speak, though, it made more sense. "I think we were supposed to, but the rooming situation got switched up or something. I don't know why, but when I moved my stuff in earlier, your name was crossed off of our sheet. Apparently I'm just rooming with my boy Emmett, some dude I forget the name of... and some dude named Jax. I'm not sure where they put you, but the new dorm adviser... Brian, I think his name is, should be able to help you if you don't see your name on any of the doors up there," he shrugged.

Just as Illiana reached for her phone, Nolan did the same, and he soon realized that it wasn't just coincidental that they had gotten notifications at the same time. The start-of-school games were kicking off, and the seniors were playing Assassin. That sounded cool, and with Victoria as his target, Nolan was all the more ready to play. Claiming that he had a crush on the Queen Bee might have been pushing it a little bit, but that was only because Nolan didn't think that Tori was into him like that, and therefore, hadn't allowed himself to consider liking her in that manner. He had tried to hook up with her multiple times over the past few years and had always been shut down, so it only seemed logical to believe that she didn't have the major crush on him, that she actually did have. With a smile on his face now, he answered the group chat with Emmett and Seth, saying, "So... I'm on the lookout for Tori with this game, which means that if any of you idiots have me and assassinate me before I can get to her, I'll kill you... outside of the game". He was only joking and the boys probably knew that, but he wasn't going to hide his interest in being able to one-up the Queen Bee today. And he was serious, in a sense, that he wasn't going to let himself get taken out, before taking her out. Illiana's exit was a strange one, and as it raised a few red flags in Nolan's mind, he looked back up in suspicion. However, he brushed it off as her just being an odd girl. He didn't know her very well, but being quirky didn't seem like a far fetched assumption of her personality.

He dismissed the idea of her being his assassin just as quickly as the thought came into his head, and looked back to Ian. "So, yeah, man, looks like we're not gonna be dorming together but I'm sure I'll see you around. Maybe we'll end up in the same English class this year again, and hey, I'm throwing a party at my place tomorrow. I can't remember if you've ever come before, but my family owns a vacation house ten minutes away or so, and my sisters and I are hosting a little kickoff to the school year. There's gonna be lots of booze, so make sure you're good with Ubering back to campus, but yeah, come check it out if you're around tomorrow night," he offered, before turning to head into his dormitory building. He looked back a second later though, being more playful now, though it was possible that the lack of seriousness in his words wouldn't show through to someone like Ian, who didn't know him very well. "And if they give you a problem at the door, just tell 'em you're on my guest list. That should get you in." Of course, this wasn't some high end club that they were going to with bouncers and a guest list that needed to be adhered to, so Nolan was only kidding. However, he wouldn't doubt that Juliette would probably have some words for him if she found out that he was inviting C-listers. Juliette had already attempted to ban Charlotte and her friends from coming over, so he knew that adding a nerd to the list wouldn't make tensions any less than they already were, but... oh well. She would never have to know that he was the one being a good guy and inviting good people like Ian.

Since he was heading into the boys' dormitory now too, it would have made sense for him to just head up with Ian, but his thoughts had already moved on from the guy, as he now tried to formulate a plan to take out Victoria. He had a text waiting from her on his phone too, and though it had been sent as a group chat, he decided to text her back privately. "I'll definitely see you at the barbecue... but a tip since we're friends... watch your back around Hilliker ;)". It was an attempt at throwing her off from believing that he had her, and just to cover his ass, he texted Emmett separately too saying, "If anyone asks, you've got Tori as your target... aka sorry for giving you even less of a chance at getting a piece of that ass today". The text probably wasn't necessary, given that it only took another two minutes for Nolan to be inside their dorm room, and then pushing open the door of Emmett's bedroom. "So, for show, you have Tori, but who do you have for real? And like I said, if it's me, man, I'll fucking murder you if you try any shit before I get my hands on her," he said with a smirk, though a raise of his eyebrows at the last part, as if to express his seriousness.

Seth had fallen asleep in the car on his way to move in day. As it was senior year, his parents were over the whole dropping him off at school thing, and had sent him in a town car. It was midday, and the drive wasn't that long since Seth lives in California in the first place. It takes about 2 hours still. He hadn't even noticed his phone buzzing from various text messages. He unlocked his phone and decided reading them from most to least important. He opened Emmett's to start,
"who's free?"
which was sent to him and Nolan in a group message.
The town car began pulling into the campus, so he responded to the group saying, "Just got here, where should I find u 2?"
After being dropped off he headed over to find his room assignment, and pulled up the next text. "My boys better find me at the barbecue later! No excuses ;)"
He smiled a little to himself, Amelia was a pretty good friend of his. She was gorgeous, smart, and not afraid to get what she wants. He texted her back separately, "Of course! Actually need to talk to u if we get a chance there.". Because although most boys have fallen head over heels for the Queen, he had his eyes on her best friend. Not really sure how to handle it, nor did he know how much Nolan would mind, he figured best advice would come from Victoria, who he trusted well enough to seek help from.
Finding his room he saw no one had come yet, but so far it was two other people he didn't really know. Oh well he thought, throwing his things on a bed and sitting on the edge. Next text. "Yo I just got the confirmation from my liquor guy. Four kegs and about 30 bottles of assorted liquors. Think that's enough for the entire senior class plus the extras? Also, Sophia was asking if she should be cooking or if you still wanted to have that barbecue place cater. Oh and the pool has been cleaned and everything, should be all set! Am I forgetting something?" Natalya, along with another reading "I suggest just making this easier on yourself and coming to me before I come looking for you. Of course, I'd enjoy the latter much more so your choice."
He responded simply, "Sounds like enough to me. What's good with music?" He figured Nat would know a rebel who could be the DJ or something. Weary of her second text after the assassin list had just come out, he decided to ignore the second half of her text.

The night before his first day of school, Jax had some business to take care of. It was a simple deal, but an important one. And Jax didn't fuck things like this up. The man hadn't paid what he owed, so Jax was going to teach him a lesson so to speak.
Maybe it was a bit reckless, but Jax had a tendency to be cruel when he was on the job. He hadn't even beaten down the idiot with the intent of mugging him. Jax had beaten him down because...well, he was a idiot, and Jax liked beating down idiot, as well as every other kind of person. But this dude clearly deserved the ass-kicking. He was one of those... lowlifes. The man was in a somewhat cheap suit, hair slicked back with grease, large rings on his fingers, and kind of a creepy moustache. Classic lowlife. When he was done, Jax figured--fuck it. He was already down for the count, he might as well milk the situation for all it was worth, which he gladly did, ending up with three hundred and fifty bucks. Not bad.
He slept well that night, pretending he didn't need have a mission of watching his childhood friend like a fuckin' babysitter.
The next morning however, he felt the reality sink in. Moving into the dumb-fuck preppy rich kid asshole school full of a bunch of kids who didn't know the least bit about the real world outside of mommy and daddy's big business and who kissed who last weekend. He sure as hell didn't want to be there, but at least there was a slight bright side. He did get to see Nat again. And yet, even then, he had to pretend he didn't know her. Which he found pretty stupid, having to come to the school to watch her but not interact with her. Would've been more productive to just have him stalk her, not even enrol in this bullshit education. But, networking is nice and these kids have money to spend on party drugs. Which Jax didn't really fuck with, but enjoyed making money off of.
Instead of bringing a whole suitcase, he had one backpack. Most of his things had been shipped to Nat's place, which she had probably hidden in some closet in case of any house guests, so all he really had was a back pack, a pistol, and a good amount of cash. He took a taxi to the closest motorcycle store, and decided he'd get himself a new bike. Since he'd left his main one in New York, he figured he'd treat himself on this dreadful morning.
Arriving at Kingdom Preppy-Fucks, rode up and found a spot for his bike closer to his dorm area. He hopped off, taking his helmet off but leaving his sunglasses on, and made his way to his room, reminiscing in his glory of the night before.
His boots crunched against the loose bits of cement-sand on the clean paved sidewalk as he trudged along, chest puffed out and face fixed into the sneer of a man who knew that every living thing around him was little more than a massive annoyance--in other words, Jax walked along as he usually did, his thin yet muscular, tattooed arms, bare to the warmth of the late California summer sun, swinging carelessly at his side. Not a bad haul, considering he didn't even intend on it, he reminded himself proudly. And they always tell him 'oh Jax, you can't go around hating everybody just for existing', he mocked in his head, even though he was pretty sure nobody had ever straight up told him that. Well would ya look at that, he just got three hundred and fifty bucks out of going around hating everybody just for existing. That would shut those non-existent protesters the fuck up.
It was then that he checked his phone, which displayed a text for Nat.
"Hey how was your trip down? Hope Viktor hasn't been bossing you around too much. Anyways see you around school. Maybe we could meet up somewhere after school tomorrow and catch up? Haven't seen you since the beginning of summer break before I went to my grandparent's house.
He grimaced. He hated texting. Reluctantly he responded anyway, "It was fine. Things have been running smoothly. We can meet at your house tomorrow. I will be discrete."
He's generally a blunt texter, and comes off a bit like that when he speaks as well, depending on the situation.
Finding his room, he entered hearing two other voices in one of the bedrooms, so he passed it without glancing in, already knowing he probably wouldn't be interested in knowing them, and took an empty bedroom, shutting the door behind him. Looking out his window he saw people gathering for a "barbecue". He'd gotten information on this event and one for the game assassin. Which he didn't plan on participating in. He didn't even see it being an issue because it was generally known he was the son of a hierarchy mob member, and most people would keep their distance. Little did he know his killer is one of the few people who isn't afraid of him.

Charlotte could only roll her eyes at Jazmyn's rebuttal to her comments, and the reference to her hookup with Michaela. While she had been surprised that the girls had hooked up that night a while back, it hadn't been shocking. It wasn't like they were heading down the alter, and in a way, she admired how chill Mickey and Jazz were, in that they could get that stupid, and literally just laugh about it the next day. Charlotte was in no way a hopeless romantic or anything like that, and she loved random hookups and one night stand deals too, but she couldn't imagine doing that with one of her best friends. It was scary, especially when it had to have been very in-the-moment, given that Charlie had never seen any signs that there was any real sexual tension between her best friends. They must have either been beyond drunk, or just really decided to go out on a limb that night, and either way, Charlotte felt like she was too guarded and reserved for something like that. She was beyond confident that her side of the bet would never have to happen, which was why she readily shook Jazmyn's extended hand. She didn't even consider that she was getting herself in over her head, because there was no way that Juliette would kiss Jazmyn in the next twenty four hours. As long as Juliette was sober, there was no way, Charlotte told herself.

She had never been big on school spirit of the activities that the resident life advisers tried to put together every year. She didn't mind socializing, necessarily, but school-related socializing, on her own free time, was definitely pushing her limits. She could be a social butterfly while drinking and partying, and even in class, she was more friendly than her reputation placed her as being, but spending free time in her day interacting with kids she didn't care about.... yeah, that wasn't really her thing. She would find it much more preferable to sit in bed with a book or Netflix playing on her laptop, taking a nap, or studying. Being alone felt so much more comfortable than meaningless interactions, and for Charlotte, a lot of normal socialization fell into that "meaningless" category. Charlotte hated Facebook, and with her anti-activities mindset in place, she never would have bothered to check to see what game her class was playing this year, if Michaela hadn't acted as if it was so intriguing. She rolled her eyes at that, and failed at trying to suppress her smirk that almost felt like it was creeping onto her face with the same sort of embarrassed blush that she had felt before. When she read her own message on her phone and found that her target was Michaela, she decided that maybe she could play along. Maybe it would be fun this year. "Maybe I'll step it up this year and actually try. Who knows, if I turn on my competitive mode, you very well might end up begging for my mercy," she decided teasingly, standing up from Jazmyn's beg to approach Michaela in a playful prowl before placing a finger under the girl's chin and winking seductively. She laughed it off right afterwards, before looking back to Jazmyn. "As for you, I'd take you out without even considering any sort of mercy," she said, her tone far more jovial now than it would have been five minutes ago, addressing Jazmyn.

"But before we even think about playing this little game, I'm kinda feeling a smoke session. I know it's risky to do on the first day back, but which one of you's got weed on you?" Jazmyn had just flown in from out of state, so unless she had picked some up some time between landing at the airport and now, Charlotte doubted she would have any. She looked to Jazmyn first, because of that, as the corners of her lips turned up into a smile. "Or, you keep eating your pudding and help this one get her room in order, and just let me smoke your stuff in your room, on my own," she said, tilting her head just slightly and she gave her a "pretty please?" kind of look.

Emmett had distracted himself with a game of Candy Crush after sending his text messages, so he was pleasantly surprised when the scented of grilling meats wafted up to his window. Either they were starting to set up for the barbecue or someone was finally cooking the meat. Either way, his stomach was in no way arguing with the idea of food being on the table some time soon and he was about to go explore that possibility when his Iphone 5S pinged, pausing his game and forcing Emmett to take in the message from Victoria. It made him grin, though he was glad that neither Nolan nor Seth were there to witness the goofy expression that formed on his face. It was one thing to have such a longstanding crush on Victoria Hearst. After all this time, the most logical course of action would be to simply learn to get over it...which was easier said than done. As much as Emmett tired himself out with swimming lap after lap in the pool or even going on sprints around the outskirts of the campus, there was no distracting himself from how utterly captivated by Tori he was. It was unfair to himself, really, especially when she had Nolan having flirted with her for just as long as Emmett's feelings had existed. The difference though, he always had to bitterly acknowledge, was that Nolan was the one who stood a chance. That alone should have been enough to rid him of the pesky butterflies that emerged at being called one of her "boys." It just didn't. Luckily, he possibly had Seth to distract himself with soon, at least for some time.

To: Tori
Sounds like u missed us or sumthing, queenie lol? C u soon

To: Seth
Mi room. Omw

With his next course of action on his mind, Emmett hopped up off of his lazy sprawl and stretched, still feeling the soreness from working earlier and then packing and unpacking on his own, rolling his neck clockwise, then counter-clockwise. Sighing, Emmett was just about to head towards his bedroom door when he heard what could have been movement on the other side. By the time he even received Nolan's text, the guy in question was opening Emmett's door and futilely, Emmett glanced at his phone to read exactly what Nolan was telling him. "You're the worst roll dog ever," Emmett remarked on a guffaw, shaking his head as the laughter shook his frame, "just so you know." Amused, Emmett switched to his Facebook app, finally noticing the notification he had ignored earlier for the game to see the name he had been messaged. "Uh I've got...Illiana? Who's that again?" It was probably unfair that Emmett couldn't even bother to know someone in his graduating class, but it wasn't like their class was small. He wasn't good with remembering names and if he couldn't get a grasp of the name, the face meant nothing. Which didn't help his cause, if he was planning on at least attempting to win the game. The idea of a prize egged on his competitive side and winning on the first night of being back sounded like a great start to a school year.

"She's acting sarcastic to cover up how badly she wants it to happen again," Jazmyn insisted, shaking her head in an equal amount of sarcasm as if she were disappointed by Michaela trying to hide her clearly-immeasurable amount of love for Jazmyn. The handshake from Charlotte sealed their deal, and though Jazmyn would find it to be very amusing when Charlotte would get to live out her end of the deal for losing, Jazmyn really just wanted to win to prove the point to Charlotte, that she was not the bad guy in this. She didn't force her sister into kissing her, and she could get her to do the exact same thing if she wanted her to. Jazmyn knew that realistically, it would be far more difficult without Juliette having alcohol coursing through her veins, but she still believed that it would be manageable. The entire Assassin game only seemed like a perfect addiction in her ploy at being crowned champion of this bet, and things were working in her favor even more when she read who her target was. Juliette Arnault. Perfect. Jazmyn had a good enough poker face that she didn't allow her excitement to be read in her expression, and just because she didn't want either of the girls asking who she had, she didn't press the conversation or ask to hear who they had.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," she said, dismissively waving off Charlotte's playful threat about not being willing to offer Jazmyn any of the same mercy she would show Charlotte. "You two can get a room, 'cause I don't need any of your mercy. The only one of us who's gonna be begging for mercy is you, when I get me some of that pretty little twin of yours, on my lips. What flavor lip gloss do you think she'd like best?" she rummaged through one of her bags, as Charlotte asked about weed. "I don't have any of that on me, but I have... vanilla and berry flavored lip gloss. You're the twin who's not vanilla, so I'll save vanilla for her," Jazmyn said, too distracted with herself and her plan now, to really pay any mind to the smoking proposition. She was almost always down for some good bud, but besides not having any on her at the moment, she wasn't in the mood just yet. Give it a few hours, and she would likely be down, but she had too much to do right now between getting her room in order and the game, and she knew that smoking would only slow her down, mentally and physically.

Once she had covered her lips in an even coat of the lip gloss, she tossed it back in her bag, and pushed the bag to the floor, as she started to make her bed. Getting the fitted sheet onto the mattress was the hard part, but the rest came fairly easy to her. She didn't need the other girls to help, and though she definitely wouldn't have rejected an offer of help, she wasn't going to keep them from smoking. "One of you needs to hook me up with some sticky notes, though. I don't think I brought any of those, and I'm not about to lose just because I skimped out when I went to Staples last week."

“Oh no! What if they catch me in my Pokémon footy jammies!”

Ian could not help but flush. He had seen his friend in her Pokemon pajamas. They were a few sizes too small and highlighted certain areas. Thankfully, she never noticed him checking her out the few times he had seen her in them. He didn't think he'd be able to live it down if she did. Before he could respond, he heard both their phones go off simultaneously. When he heard Illy's ringtone, he raised an eyebrow at her with a smirk.

“Oh dear, it looks like I have to come up with a plan of attack. So, uh, gotta go. Ian, text me”

"Of course. See you later, " Ian told her with a grin before checking his own list. He couldn't help but laugh. Her target was standing right beside him. He turned to Nolan with a slight smirk.

"I'd watch my back if I were you. Your assassin knows kung fu."

As he listened to Nolan speak, he nodded in understanding. Last minute changes were typical for Crossroads. He blinked in surprise at the fact that he was inviting him to his party, but he grinned anyway.

"I will have to give them your name then. Is it possible for me to bring a friend? I've been meaning to make Illiana go to one of these things," he told him with a slight grin. He checked his phone. Natalya huh? He hardly knew the girl. It would be tough to take her down if he decided to play the game. He shook his head.

"So, on a scale of one to ten, how hard do you think it is to sneak up on Natalya?"

Noah, however, seemed to have his mind on other things and left. With a sigh, Ian realized he was left to his own devices.

"Come on, Ian, you're smart. Think of something.

"Yeah, Charlotte's across the hall," Juliette acknowledged, doing her best to resist making that come out as a grumble. She was trying to lose the bad mood that she was in, she really was, and though seeing Tori made that easier, being reminded of her horrible rooming situation didn't. "I got the worst roommates I could possibly get. It makes no sense that they put Charlotte in this room, and me in that room, but I'm with Jazmyn Clarke, Michaela Vaughn, and Natalya Volkova. AKA, the perfect group of people to make me want to kill myself." She followed Victoria into the suite, pleased that no one else was here. Illiana was no prize either, but Juliette actually liked Amelia, so she was sure that Victoria (and Charlotte) had gotten the better room assignment, at least compared to her. It only aided in her seemingly always present idea of the world being out to get her.

Victoria had not been at the country club the night of Juliette's kiss with Jazmyn, but she had heard about it. Thankfully, it had come from Juliette herself, and no one else in addition to that, which meant that it was still a secret. Had anyone outside of Juliette, Jazmyn, and Jazmyn's immediate group of friends known, than Victoria would have also heard about it from countless other A-listers and B-list wannabes who thought the gossip would win them a spot on her good side. Like Charlotte, Victoria had been quick to villify Jazmyn for the encounter, even though Juliette had never specifically expressed that she disliked, or had even objected to the kiss. Victoria didn't consider herself to be homophobic, but she wasn't as tolerant as she liked to think that she was. It wasn't so much the idea of Juliette kissing a girl that bothered her, but how it had apparently went down. For one, kissing a rebel was intolerable in its own right, and then beyond that, doing it in a spur of the moment, drunken and thoughtless way, made Victoria feel like it was embarrassing and tacky. She wanted to believe that Juliette had been sloppy drunk during it, and that Jazmyn was some sex-crazed social climber who took advantage of Juliette, not that Juliette had purposely done something that Tori felt was harmful to her reputation. With that in mind, she wasn't pleased to hear that Juliette was stuck rooming with Jazmyn, especially when two other rebels were also included in the suite. Michaela Vaughn was the sheer definition of trouble, and Victoria almost trusted her less than Jazmyn. It might have been surprising, judging on appearances alone, but Natalya was the one out of the three that Victoria actually trusted the most, and just before she received her Facebook group notification, she sent the blonde rebel a text message.

To: Natalya
Hey Nat. I hope your summer was fun :). I heard Juliette is one of your roommates this year?

After their sophomore year ended, and Victoria and Natalya were no longer roommates, they lost that shared need to interaction, and their friendship fizzled out on that level. However, they were still friendly enough in public, so Victoria didn't feel weird for starting up a conversation with Natalya out of the blue, since she felt it would be more appropriate to approach her need for Natalya to be tolerant of Juliette in a more casual and civil manner, than just demanding she do so. She didn't bother telling Juliette that she was doing this, mostly because she didn't want Juliette to get more worked up over who she was rooming with, than she already seemed to be. "It can't be that bad, Jules! If anything, you can sleepover here whenever you want, but I'm sure it'll all work out. It always does, right? And worse comes to worse, you tell Holly that Jazmyn's sexually harassing you. You could probably add Michaela into that complaint too, I'm sure they'd easily believe you, and we could rid the school of those two nuisances that easily." That wasn't the most realistic solution to the problem, but halfway through her comments, Victoria's attention had shifted from Juliette, and to the Facebook message she received. Her target was Ian Butler, someone who she was familiar with on a matching the name to a face basis, but not in a personal sense. He would be an easy target, she told herself, so she relaxed at that, a small smile coming to her face, before her phone beeped with a message from Nolan, and then one in the group chat from Emmett. Though Nolan appeared to be the one being helpful, she left his unanswered, and instead, only texted Emmett back, but in a private text, rather than in the group.

To: Emmett
Actually, if our friendship is important to you, you better stay away from me at the barbecue Image At least as long as you have a post it in your hand

But seriously, you're not allowed to get me Image Not until we're the only two left!

"I have Ian Butler, and your brother claims that Emmett has me. Who do you have?" she asked Juliette, as she sat down on the couch in the common area of her suite, sliding her sandals off and curling her legs up onto the space beside her. The barbecue would probably be starting soon, and Victoria was hungry, but she wasn't that hungry where she wanted to be the first to show up... at least not until she got confirmation that Emmett wasn't going to try anything while she was innocently getting food.

"Emmett," Juliette said, and that was news to her too, because she was only just reading her Assassin assignment right then as she spoke. Emmett was an A-lister like her, so finding him wasn't going to be as challenging as she thought Victoria's assignment of Ian would be, but that didn't mean that she didn't want help in doing it. "You know Emmett would take a bullet for you. Help me trap him! Tell him you're choking and need mouth-to-mouth or something, and then when he comes racing up here, I'll get him out!" As dramatic and emotional as Juliette could be, she was just as easily excitable, and at first glance, this game sounded like just what she needed to get her mind off of the stress, and on to the fun. She would probably lose the thrill of it in a few hours, if she even lasted that long, so she wasn't aiming to win, but she also didn't want to lose without at least eliminating one person. That would just be embarrassing, she thought, especially if Victoria seemed like she was interested in playing.
