{ Age }
44

{ Sexuality }
Homosexual (It is a secret however.)

{ Role }
The Director

{ Face Claim }
Dr. Hojo (Final Fantasy 7)

Image
{ Height // Weight }
5'11"

{ Appearance }
Leonard Niel Vamsi has a strange appearance, his slightly muscular frame mixing in with his gaunt facial features. When you happen to look upon his face and eyes, most people get this eerie quality about him that he almost appears sickly. Some days he appears as healthy as ever, other days very ill-like. No one really knows why. His irises are of a peculiar dark shaded gray paired with seemingly permanent dark circles underneath his eyes. He has long strands of brown hair always tied into a flat pony tail with a few occasional silver streaks. His face is visibly wrinkled, with frown lines outlining his lips and two horizontal wrinkles that have shaped placed themselves just above his brow. At the corner's of his eyes are what one may call "crow's feet." His wrinkly facial features emit a perpetually unhappy and eerie vibe.

{ Garments }
Dr. Vamis is hardly ever seen not wearing his wardrobe of broadcloth's and dark-colored slacks accompanied by solid colored ties. He never wears patterns. When he is not in his office, he'll also be seen wearing his cotton white coat also with his stethoscope wrapped around his neck dangling from his collarbone. He also has silver framed lenses planted atop the bridge of his nose and slightly folding over his ears.

{ Birthmarks / Scars / Tattoos / Piercings }
In the upper left corner of Dr. Vamis's forehead is a rather small scar almost shaped like an "X." It is uncertain as to how he received this scar, but it is usually covered by his long strands of hair.

{ Personality }

Callous § Devious § Sinister § Phony § Persuasive

From the moment you meet the Director, one will immediately notice his hardened expression. As though he has no feelings of any sort and is nothing but a dark empty shell. You can never quite tell if he is pleased, angered, attentive or bored. He always looks the same and it usually creeps people out. When the Director speaks to someone, it's always as though his mind is elsewhere making anything you have to say seem unimportant even if it is. His tone of voice is devious, as though he is constantly hiding something but you dare not question it in fear he just may hurt you. Though he has never been known to be a violent man, no one likes to question his authority. However, when it comes to the orphans suddenly his mind is completely focused and present. Nothing he says is straightforward and is extremely vague. If he asks you a question, you best be careful with your response because he is quite skillful in twisting someone's words and making things appear not as they seem.

Dr. Vamsi overall is quite sinister. Down from the way he looks to the way he speaks, it would take a fool to think he can be trusted. He is insensitive, creepy, uncanny, and slick. Very slick. Once the clinic discovers of the orphans supernatural abilities, suddenly the Director is very involved with everything that goes on there. He is the one who creates these new treatments and enforces them. He tries to act like their friend, giving them soft smiles and innocent eyes. Not to mention he is very persuasive in a tricky way, asking the orphans questions about them potentially having powers which ultimately lead them to harsher treatments. When he has his one on one meetings with the special orphans, it's almost as though it's some sort of odd therapy session. Really he wants the children to admit that they do in fact, have supernatural abilities and wants them to think it'll be okay if they just admit it to him. Though after awhile he begins to grow impatient. The Director has created his own special serum that he begins to inject the orphans with during their sessions in hopes to send them into a hypnotic state where they just may admit their powers to him subconsciously. He also tries to infuriate the orphans, upset them, make them scared, etc. All in hopes to get a reaction from them that may set off their powers. The goal is to find out what causes these powers to activate and then learn of what they are really capable of. The Director will stop at nothing to find answers.

{ Power }

Astral Manipulation

Dr. Vamsi can astral project his conscious, which is the ability to separate one's spirit from their body. While his spirit walks within the astral plane, he is able to make himself visible to those he chooses and take on different shapes and forms. He can communicate with whomever he pleases in many different ways and he particularly begins to use this ability once it comes to his attention that the orphans have their own abilities. He spies on them and tries to unravel their minds during this and attempts to cause incidents forcing them to come to the clinic more often. His ability is a complete secret, and every time he uses astral manipulation it takes a heavy toll on his body explaining why some days he looks rather ill and exhausted. As to how he developed this ability has yet to be revealed.

Thursday, 11:15 AM

Annalise Cassadine slowly approached the clinic which was now only two blocks away. Her gaze was locked with the hard pavement with a frown firmly rooted across her features. With each step her heart fluttered and occasionally you'd see her wince, as though it pained her each step of the way. She wore a light brown sweater with a black short sleeve underneath paired with a dark, gray, plaid skirt. Slung across her back was a purple pack that hardly carried anything besides her wallet, ID, and a couple of novels. It was Thursday; her least favorite day of the week. Thursday was the designated day in which all orphans in the area had to visit the clinic for their weekly check ups. All orphans were excused from school on Thursdays at least in the local area. It was mandated by law. But today was particularly nerve wracking for Anna. Something strange had happened to her last night and she was certain the clinic knew all about it by now.

Annalise felt her body shudder as she recalled the events. She did not even know how to explain what happened or what even did happen. It was too surreal. One moment a couple of orphans were teasing her and then the next... It was as though they all experienced the same nightmare as she. The fell to the floor screaming and crying. Anna simply remained standing in the center with a blank expression, as though her mind were elsewhere as she watched them all writhe in pain. One of the caretakers grabbed her by the shoulders and they all instantly snapped out of it, including Anna. It was an eerie sight. As she approached the front double doors of the clinic she felt an overwhelming sense of dread. It was as though her knees were going to give out and she'd tumble over. Her hands were trembling as she reached for the door handle. Just breathe... Breathe, she tried to coax herself as she entered. It was 11:17 AM which meant she was thirteen minutes early. She sighed with relief. If the orphans were not punctual in arriving they would be taken into a private room to be 'conditioned.' Anna made that mistake once. Really what was supposed to happen was that the orphans would explain why they were late then talk about it like human beings. But the nurse who took care of that sort of thing was sadistic. She would lock the door then fill a large bucket of water where she'd shove your face in for thirty seconds for every time you tried to make an excuse for being late. Once she decided you had enough, she would let you go. Then you'd most likely get in trouble for being wet and the day would only get worse.

The woman at the receptionist desk glanced up from her paperwork with a look of disdain. She was an older woman with greying hair and lots of wrinkles. She removed her glasses, her long red nails as bright as ever that Anna always found to be quite hideous. "Annalise," the woman grunted while crinkling her nose, "Sit over there. Someone will be with you shortly." The woman pointed over towards the seating area where a television was broadcasting the news with closed captions. Anna did as she was told while quickly muttering, "Thank you, Beatrice.” Not once did she look into Beatrice's face but she felt the woman's dark eyes following her every step towards her seat.

Fear was slowly creeping up on Anna as she sat down restlessly. She started to gnaw on her nails nervously while stroking some stands of hair with her other free hand. Sitting still was not really an option for her otherwise she'd panic. What was going to happen today? Last week was practically a blur. When she was last here she was in the midst of a manic episode. She was very energized, excited, and talkative for a change. Though anyone who knows Anna well enough can tell you that when she's talking a lot she is not well. Anna ran into the place dancing and humming tunes as though she were excited to be there. She wanted to tell Dr. Nox how she too, planned to be a doctor, then run her own clinic for orphans. Except her clinic would be much better than this horrible place. Needless to say, she was soon being held down by two nurses before being injected with sedatives to make her mellow out. It did not put her to sleep, but her entire demeanor completely changed and she sat on the floor against the wall lifelessly. She could not remember much after that, except that her mood stabilizers were increased as well as anxiety medication. All week long she has felt nothing but numb, except for today. Today, she was afraid. She could not help but notice she seemed to be the first one to arrive and that in of itself made her nervous. She did not want to sit here alone.

"♪ Thursday, Thursday. Magical wonderful Thursday~♪" A sing-song voice gave a merry little tune as its owner ventured down the sidewalk with a spring in his step. Most people in his position may have been going with reluctance, understandably hesitant to visit the clinic. Even he was normally hesitant, always considering skipping out. The punishments they give were enough to force him to go and endure the harsh treatment and poking prodding questions. But today was very different for the boy. He was feeling jubilant, ready and excited for today's sessions. He had this feeling deep in his gut that it was going to be a fun day. Especially with yesterday's development...

A fine line of red cut just a little too deep into the pale, frail flesh of the white-clad boy. He sat in the corner, giggling with his head hung as he stared wide-eyed at the wound he had inflicted upon himself, the steel instrument now hidden behind his person. He watched as the red essence dripped down his leg, tickling at the little pores of his skin as it rounded over his ankle, down his heel and to the floor. A small puddle began forming around his foot... which caught the attention of another orphan that happened to be passing by. A new one, one who was young and had no real experience dealing with the boy that was Emil Jasper. Emil heard him ask something. Was it about him being okay? Or asking if he should get help? Emil didn't pay the boy's word's any mind. But he heard him. Knew of his existence. And as soon as he was close enough, Emil reached forward and grabbed at the boy's leg. How unfortunate that the other one was wearing shorts. The poor child had no idea what was coming... Emil had no idea what was coming. But he looked up at the child with a malicious grin, eyes wide with his endorphin high. "Have you ever felt pain, boy?!" His raspy, crazed voice asked the child, only to be answered by a scream and the pain missing from his leg.

He had no idea how he did it. But the gash in his leg made its way from his body to the child's. He had passed on some love in the form of that wound without even having to share his knife! How wonderful it was! Maybe if he was lucky, he could figure out how to do it again with one of those damned doctors... That was why he was excited. Especially if that bitch doctor who reprimanded them for being late was there... He and her had many a meeting. They were practically on a first-name basis. She hurt him so much... She really did care about him! Maybe today he could return the favor and hurt her in return. Her words were mean and brutal, but her actions spoke her true feelings. That was how Emil saw it. He often showed up late just for her attention. Even if he couldn't breathe sometimes because of her buckets...

He burst open the door, twirling his entire body as he moved inside the clinic, the door closing behind him. He continued spinning in with his arms out, enjoying the feeling of his hair against his face and the soft shirt against his mutilated arms. "Miss Beatrice, darling! I'm back! Did you miss me?" He seemed rather excited to see the grouch of a woman behind the desk. She didn't flinch like most people did, which he appreciated, though she was never quite happy to see him. Or anyone for that matter. It bothered him that she never smiled. Did he need some love, too? An old hag like her probably has no one to love... 'How very sad...' He thought to himself as she checked him in. Looking about, there was only one other girl there. Excitedly, he checked the clock. 11:18 AM. His shoulders dropped along with his head as he felt defeated. "Early? Damn it... I thought I was late..." What was he supposed to do for a whole two minutes, anyway?! Magazines sucked. Beatrice was a grumpy old hag... Right now it seemed that the other girl here was his only entertainment for a bit.

And he certainly was okay with that.

She was approaced by him without hesitation. She was alone, biting her nails, as if worried. Did she not enjoy this place? Why did she do that? Still, she was familiar. She lived at the orphanage with him. A different wing, sure, but he saw her somewhat regularly. Taking up the seat beside her, he sat sideways in his chair to face the dark-haired young woman. He was balled up as he sat, balancing on the ball of his foot as his face invaded into her personal bubble a bit. He was an unmistakeable kind of guy with his vibrant green hair and eyes that almost seemed golden in color. Not to mention the visible scarring on his head was kind of a dead giveaway as to who he was. There were rumors about him... whether she'd heard them or not, well, he'd find out in time. For the time being, he gave her a wide smiled that showed all of his teeth as he extended out a hand, covered completely by the white sleeve of his garment. It had a significant bag to it, clearly much too big for him. "Hey there. I'm Emil. It's nice to meet you." He withdrew his hand before she had a chance to shake it, turning and falling with his back on the chair now. Turning his head, his huge smile dimmed to a grin that didn't really seemed to change the creepy air about him. He kept his eyes dead locked on hers as he began chuckling to himself. There wasn't anything funny, at least to the outside world, but he was utterly amused with himself. "So. What are you in for?~♪" No issues jumping straight to questions like that. It may have come off as a joke, though he was genuinely curious to see where her brain was broken. But if he was early, that meant there were others coming on their way, too. That just dawned on him as he began getting restless in his seat. More defects, like him. He was really excited. Maybe they'd get to see him hurt the doctors! Maybe they would want to hurt, too! Oh, he felt friendship was right at his fingertips. All he'd have to do was reach out and grab it. Reach out and slice it... Today was shaping out to be good so far!

Thursday | 11:21 AM | Newholt Clinic

This was another useless day. That is pretty much how Alice Clovers would define Thursday. It had been indicated in the passed bill that children abandoned and cared for by this country should be subjected to the mandatory psychiatric testing and if found positive must undergo treatment immediately. Unfortunately for her, she was diagnosed with a condition known colloquially as having split-personalities. Something she adamantly states to be a lie. To her, she was a perfectly normal girl living her own life. She doesn't experience such mental episodes nor is she aware of any another her deep inside her psyche. That is why she calls all the findings about her as complete bull.

She had once demanded to see their reports about her, but she is not authorized or allowed to. That was another thing she finds completely wrong about this entire system. But, she cannot do anything about it since this was the law and she must abide it. Everything about her situation was off-tangent and doesn't make sense. However, it does give the people around them a sense of security. Knowing these children who are technically unwanted are handled and controlled by the government to ensure that massacre will never happen again. Anyway, she would have just to take it until she's considered a legal adult. By then, she can give her own choice on the matter. But for now, she is a ward of the state.

Taking a deep breath, she soon found herself in front of the annoying clinic she had been subjected for treatment. There had been rumors about the horrid methods being given to children like her. But, it was much of a truth like the sun always rising. As for her, she had experienced such sadistic and inhumane ways of curing her so-called illness. But, she was far resilient and not easily curved to the researchers or doctors' machinations. That is why the effects of this entire program to her was not as strong as to the others. At the same time, her treatments could be considered minimal unlike her fellow patients. She might have an idea why but, it was just something she had heard in passing. They say, she was non-responsive and negative unlike the others. She wasn't sure what that meant, but that was probably the reason why her sessions were not as intense as the others.

Anyway, she entered the door and the face of the grouchy receptionist was what welcomed her. They should get someone else, really. Someone more acceptable and has that pleasing personality. The Clinic would be at least be more tolerable in her personal opinion. "Alice Clovers." There was a bit of snide in that. She could tell that Beatrice as she is called was well-informed that Alice does not like her last name especially when used for sarcastic purposes. Still, she approached the desk with her beautiful brown eyes narrowed to mirror her irritation. "Present. Ms. Beatrice Callowen. " There was a smile on her face at the end of that. There was no denying that Alice by all means was a beauty. That was probably one of the reasons Beatrice shows annoyance over the younger girl's presence. Furthermore, Alice was in a way rebellious and sassy in her retorts. Beatrice was obviously offended by that implication of the Miss part which meant she was an old maid.

"Take your seat now!" Beatrice screeched at her while pointing with those hideous red nails of her to a nearby bench where there are a television and two people present who she was rather familiar with, not on a personal level though, just by passing glances and words. They were orphans just like her and also clients of this clinic. She went to them as she took her seat just beside of another girl who was obviously already sedated. Then, there was also another boy with such brilliant palettes on his appearance. It was bit hard not to notice him. He seemed engaged with the other girl in a conversation. "I don't think you'll get much of an answer from her now..." She shrugged her shoulders and gave a polite smile at the other kid. "The name is Alice. How do you do?" She introduced herself as she offered her hand for a handshake.

Well, there was still time to burn before they are attended by their respective doctors or so. This was better than talking to those stiffs anyway.

"There are things in this world that you cannot oppose, no matter how hard you try."

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni OST || Main Theme

Behind the double doors of the waiting area, towards the end of the hallway, stood a glass conference room. Within it hung a four paned white board scribbled with dry erase markers. On one of the panes was a projected slideshow with information about the clinic's recent change in treatment. There was a long, wooden table aligned with black cushioned computer chairs whose seats were filled with several doctors well known throughout the clinic. Amongst the group were some of the most infamous doctors known as Gregory McFay, Cynthia Riley, and Lydia Grady. The most notable of the group were the two doctors who sat at the table's edge, Dr. Vincent Nox and the Director himself, Dr. Leonard Niel Vamsi.

Dr. Vamsi's eyes were narrowed at the scattered papers and manilla folders before him. His hands were clasped together beneath his chin, seemingly deep in thought. The lights were dimmed so that the images on the projector could be seen much more clearly, the blue light slightly reflecting off of his silver framed lenses. Each folder contained a profile of the clinic's orphans. He had been skimming through Emil Jasper's and Annalise Cassadine's folders specifically. The clinic had received some interesting phone calls about the two. Emil had cut a boy, which was really no surprise, but the victim's story was what intrigued the Director most. The orphanage claimed it was nonsense and just the child's imagination, but supposedly Emil's own cut had 'vanished' and transferred over to the victim. The same precise cut. Meanwhile, Annalise had been standing idly in the center of a group of children who had all fallen to the floor unconscious yet screaming in their sleep. They all reported the same exact story, claiming they had entered a dream and experienced a nightmare. Annalise had appeared as though she were sleeping with her eyes open until someone had grabbed her and everyone snapped out of the trance. How peculiar indeed.

"Dr. Nox, I would like to start meeting with these children. All of them who began the new treatment taking samples of Lanxol four weeks ago," said Dr. Vamsi with a curious stare regarding the handsome blonde. "We need to find out what causes these strange incidents. Are they side effects, coping mechanisms, genetic mutations? Record any oddities. Dr. Riley, I'd like you to conduct physicals and check on their vitals and blood. Check for everything."

His eyes flickered over towards Dr. Riley who held a calm gaze and soft smile. Her eyes were as clouded as ever though her appearance held a lovely sophistication. She simply nodded before clicking her pen to jot down some notes. Such a graceful woman, so kind and gentle yet horribly cruel underneath her facade.

"I should also mention that I'd like Dr. Nox to handle the medications of Emil and Annalise from now on. Grady, you'll continue to handle the others unless more of them begin to exhibit... symptoms. However, you'll continue their therapy and begin group sessions at once," Dr. Vamsi continued while tapping his pen against the table top. "Any questions?"

Dr. Grady, one of the psychiatrists and cognitive behavioral therapists, rolled her eyes but kept to herself as she read over the slide once more describing the uses of Lanxol. Lanxol maintained the appearance of black, hexagonal pills that were supposedly newly made anti-psychotics not yet released in the market. It was on the rather heavier side of the anti-psychotic drug classification used to treat hallucinations, delusions, thought disorders and extreme moods swings. It had heavily sedating side effects. Dr. Grady did not really believe in mental illness or this preposterous idea of 'abilities' the Director was now mentioning. But the job paid well and she enjoyed belittling the orphans here and their annoying problems. Dr. McFay on the other hand, one of the facility's top researchers was furiously writing away on his notepad. He was just as intrigued as the Director on this subject matter.

The Director then reached for the black corded telephone on the table and paged in for the nurse's station. He told them to begin fetching the orphans and have them wait in any empty examination rooms. "If there are no questions, we should end this meeting here seeing as it is almost time. If not, speak now or forever hold your peace."

» "It is said that humans have no limitations, it is just a mere illusion, but they do. It is the thing inside their skulls called brain." «

Blue-gray eyes watched the slide presentation that reflected a calmness so pristine and unwavering from what was being reported. It presented the results of a new drug Lanxol which had been administered to a selected group of orphans, a simple experimentation which yielded notes that the Director is highly interested in. This much could be told by the owner of those eyes who was none other than Dr. Vincent Nox. In any case, he does see the reason behind the interest. This is the very reason he had opted to get himself personally involved with the groundwork than sitting behind his desk away from the stench.

Though, he could also gather the differing reactions from his other colleagues in this clinic. There were other medical practioneers present but what stood out to him were the infamous trio which he had dubbed them as. Dr. McFay was thoroughly enthusiastic about this unlikely results which was the opposite of Dr. Grady who seems to believe it to be fallacy. As for Dr. Riley, the woman was a wolf in a lamb's clothing. Well, they were technically like that if anything else. The only factor that separates each of them was how they showcase such sides to the public and their patients.

His attention was taken promptly once the presentation was over by the Director or Dr Vamsi. The man looked at him with curious gaze. It seemed he wanted to meet the group of children subjected to the experimental drug. That was no problem at all. He had already taken the necessary preparations as he had already foresaw this. "Everything has been prepared. The children would be directed to individual examination rooms." He then handed Dr. Vamsi a clipboard containing a piece of document which he had targeted as most reactive to the new drug. It contains the names of Annalise Cassadine, Emil Jasper, Alice Clovers, Walter Wren Boyden, and Kyle White. "These children would serve your interest I am certain."

It was all stated with his cool and collected tone. This only added to his handsome profile which many would wonder why this person is still a bachelor. He is a well-recognized doctor on his own right and was an heir of a rich family. It would be easy for him to have a family but, he never did. There are also no rumors about him being attached or openly suggestive to any females. So indeed, he was a mystery both in professional and personal aspects. In any case, he will be doing what was asked of him by the Director. It would actually be a pleasure of his. "As you directed, Dr. Vamsi." He simply noted in reference for him accepting the duties tasked to him.

As for the meeting about to end, he has no questions and it seemed that was the same for everyone else. "I believe that this meeting is adjourned for now." He eloquently noted as he gathered his things on the desk. "If that is all, we should return to work. We cannot have our patients waiting now."

Her purple set of eyes blinked in bewilderment as Emil explained the story behind his forehead's scar. When he asked her if she wanted to touch, she was not sure how to respond. Was that how people really loved each other? She supposed it made sense although it was a bit different from the affection her parents had once shown her. They would just hit her which felt normal after awhile even though it hurt. But some days they would show her kindness and although it was fake kindness used to torture her, it was something she began to long for more and more. Emil's attention was then torn away by the white haired boy that had just walked in. She felt captivated by his appearance, he seemed neither boy nor girl. His name was Kyle apparently, Ghost in fact. That was such a cool name! Anna felt a twinge of envy seeing her name as something boring. Her focus was then broken by Alice, "You have beautiful eyes, you know. You shouldn't hide them."

Annalise felt her cheeks sting with heat, uncertain of how to accept Alice's compliment. She began to twiddle her thumbs shyly and muttered a quick thanks before peeking back up at Alice with a smile. The boy known as Ghost had made his way over and hovered before her with a thumbs-up gesture. "I've never seen or met you before, but I can tell we'll be the best of friends." At this remark, Anna felt her mouth gaping and her body chilled. Best... friends? Anna never had a best friend before, let alone a friend. Yet here were all these people talking to her. Suddenly she had flicked her cheek to see if there was pain felt, just to confirm she was not dreaming. It left a slight red mark and she winced at her own flick before rubbing her cheek rather quickly. Ghost sat beside Emil as they exchanged some words about their cuts and scars. Though she was most amazed at the threading in Ghost's skin. It was done so intricately, it was rather nice to look at she supposed. Emil seemed fascinated as well and even asked to touch it. It made her smile and feel warm inside.

"Friends..." Anna whispered to herself, not intending for others to hear. Her eyes were lit with excitement and she sat began to sit upright, now gazing upon their faces in depth for the first time.

"I guess those two will get along," Alice said with a smile looking directly at Anna. "But I guess, that guy also wants to get along with you as well. I hope the same thing, after all I guess we should stick together, right? Same feathers and all."

Anna giggled a bit as she returned Alice's smile with one of her biggest. She tucked some loose strands of hair behind her ear rather carefully before slightly leaning forward to look back at Ghost, "I'm Anna by the way, well, Annalise. But, you can just call me Anna." Her voice was very soft spoken and hesitant. She looked into Ghost's eyes, then Emil's, and then back at Alice's. It only lasted for a couple of seconds, but it was something. Glancing back at the dusty floor, her feet kicked playfully back and forth seeing as they slightly dangled above ground. Her hands rested over her chest, gripping onto each other as she continued to smile timidly. What is this warm feeling inside? It feels... nice.

However, the joyous moment for Anna was short lived. The double doors opened with a woman nurse walking through holding a clipboard. Anna's demeanor completely changed into one of fear and her hands began to shake again. Her head cowered down as she tensed herself in the chair. The nurse was a bit surprised to see the orphans all crowding around each other. That did not happen often. She wrote something down on the board before saying, "Come now children. I'll direct you to your examining rooms." The nurse's face scrunched seeing that there was only four orphans waiting. Where was the fifth?

"Beatrice, where is that odd ball, Walter Wren Boyden? He's late," the nurse questioned in a miffed tone.

"He hasn't shown up yet. What would you like me to do?" Beatrice replied boredly.

"When he arrives, page in the Director. He should know about this," the nurse grunted before focusing back on the four orphans waiting for them to follow. Anna's eyes locked with the ground as she slowly grabbed her things feeling as though she were about to fall over. They know... They know! was all she could shout at herself in her mind. Her heart raced as she attempted to lift herself off the chair. "HURRY UP!" the nurse barked impatiently.

Genuinely surprised by Alice's reaction to the nurse, Anna gasped and quickly grabbed the girl's hand. She saw her as someone precious and endearing, even if they had just met. "Alice! I-It's okay. Please don't fight with them," Annalise found herself pleading with her new friend. But it seemed as though she were too late, for the nurses came swarming in ready to detain Alice. Her breath fell short and her body quivered with fright seeing a rather large syringe being unwrapped then retrieving serum from a small glass tube. Anna was frozen and wide eyed, a light sweat breaking out on her forehead. Emil and Ghost had already made their way inside past the double doors. Though Anna was feeling mortified.

"Ms. Cassadine, is there also going to be an issue with you? We'd be more than happy to accommodate," the female nurse growled, visibly irritable. Reluctantly, Anna gripped her bag tightly and trekked over towards the nurse. She did not dare look at the woman or back at Alice, for guilt washed over. The hallway felt so dark and grim. In her books, the color white always represented something pure or of light, though in this moment she felt it could only represent death. To her left was the nurse's station. Some were busy on their computers, others with paperwork, few were on the phones and a couple of them just lightly chatted with each other. It was an eerie feeling, as though this were all just a typical day at work. Everyone was unfazed, uncaring, not even bothered. Anna's lips were pressed together in a frown. She now dragged her bag across the floor, ready to accept her fate. A male nurse walked out from behind the nurse's counter then approached Emil and Ghost.

"Mr. Jasper, you will be seeing the Director first today. He's requested to speak with you, I'll guide you to his office. So behave yourself," the man spoke in a monotone voice. "As for you, Mr. White, please head to examination room number two."

The nurse's attention then diverted itself to Anna, who barely glimpsed at him. He walked towards her while sucking in his teeth. He wore green colored scrubs paired with white sketchers. It was a rather lazy combination in Anna's opinion. "You're having a switch in psychiatrists, Anna. You'll be seeing Dr. Nox from now on. Shouldn't there be two more of you scheduled in for 11:30?"

The man peered through the double doors seeing the other nurse handling the fourth orphan. The fifth wasn't in sight. Shaking his head, he turned and mentioned for the three to follow behind him. As they passed a couple of rooms, Anna could not help but notice other orphans who had been there prior to their scheduled time. Some of them quickly muttered to themselves, staring off vacantly towards the white walls. Others were weeping and some outright drooled on themselves. It made Anna extremely uncomfortable. The male nurse showed Kyle to his room while saying Dr. Riley would be seeing him shortly. Anna was dropped off at some sort of office space while the nurse wandered off with Emil somewhere. Feeling doomed, she took a few deep breaths before gently knocking on the door to let this Dr. Nox know she was there. She did not bother in introducing herself. Meanwhile, the nurse stopped at the end of the hallway with Emil, knocking on the door to let the Director know they arrived.

"There are things in this world that you cannot oppose, no matter how hard you try."

As the meeting concluded, Dr. Vamsi gathered his folders and stacked his papers in an orderly fashion. He nodded at Dr. Nox then dismissed his employees. The walk to his office from the conference room was short and he shut the door behind him as he gathered his thoughts. So far Anna and Emil had displayed this strange onset of symptoms. Though Emil's incident was more intriguing to him at the moment. If in fact, all that has occurred was due to their new treatment, he could only imagine the possibilities. However, Vamsi wished they could have perfectly healthy and normal test subjects as well. They needed a control group for this sort of research. He would have to consider that later on.

He alphabetized his folders before placing them back onto their respective shelves in the file cabinets, though he kept Emil's and Anna's then placed them on his desk neatly stacked on top of each other. The faint sound of jazz played softly in the background from his small stereo that rested on a glass table leaning against the wall. Such a calming sound, he thoroughly enjoyed his music. He took a seat behind his desk and pulled open one of his drawers to remove a silicon cloth from a case before wiping his glasses clean. He was a bit obsessive in this, always diligently cleaning his round lenses several times a day. His black desk was noticeably immaculate. Oddly immaculate. Not an item was out of place, not even his pens or pencils. Even the leaves of a small fern plant seemed perfectly kempt. Each leaf appeared evenly spread and equal in length even if that were not the case. The rest of his office space was no different. One would almost feel guilty for walking in, as though one misplaced footstep would dirty the entire place. Anything hanging on the walls from picture frames to clocks also appeared evenly aligned with about a foot of distance in between. This was just the way Vamsi liked it. It refreshed him. He was leaning back in his leather chair with his legs crossed elegantly when there was a knock on the door.

"Excuse me, Director. But the patient, Emil, has arrived," a male nurse spoke as he creaked the door open. Vamsi simply nodded with acknowledgment.

"Yes, of course. Send him in right away," Vamsi replied eagerly. He supposed first he should get to know this boy and how his mind works exactly. Vamsi knew psychology, and how to prod at one's mind for answers. Though from reports and the brief encounters in the past, he knew Emil was no ordinary orphan. This may prove to be difficult. He leaned forward again in his chair, folding his hands to lean his mouth against as he waited for the boy to take a seat.

As soon as Annalise heard the doctor on the other side of the door give permission for her to enter, she slowly twisted the knob before gently pushing her way in. Very briefly, Anna's eyes met the pair of gray-blue eyes of the man before her who sat eloquently before his cherry redwood desk. What lovely taste he has in decor. She observed his long, narrow face and seemingly flawless skin that practically glowed under the light. His hair was of a platinum blonde color in which the lighting bounced off of. It was on the longer side and had accompanied his facial features in a rather elegant manner. Anna found herself somewhat attracted by his appearance, but her gaze did not last long as her eyes dropped to the floor while she made her way to the seat across from him. Her delicate hands had grasped onto a few strands of hair in which she nervously began to stroke somewhat quickly. She would not dare look at the man's face again out of fear and embarrassment. The lack of self esteem and confidence was very evident based off of her body language alone.

"I'm Anna..." she practically whispered hardly able to hear herself. Her face was tinged with red, frustrated at her failed attempt to speak up. Introductions were never quite her forte, especially when it came to the doctors. Anyone who worked at this clinic easily made her nervous. In the few moments she awaited his response, her anxiety began to peak. It was as though hands were clasped around her throat trying to choke her while her skin began to tingle with nervous energy. Her nose and brows had lost their feeling and she could even feel the tingling sensations along her shoulder blades as well as her hands.

As Anna sat, she could not help but notice the countless amount of books stacked amongst the shelves. There were so many and there seemed to be a lot of textbooks. Aligned perfectly along the walls were awards, a diploma and certifications. However, Anna noted the same name written in bold letters across the bottom of each of them, Vincent A. Nox. He was obviously a man of excellent intellect. Anna did like the fact that he seemed to read quite often. She supposed this was an okay trait to have in common. The scent of chamomile then caught her attention as her eyes darted towards the doctor's mug that was still steaming with heat. The smell was somewhat comforting, but it certainly was not enough to calm her. Soon her short, jagged fingernails found their way towards her mouth as she began to nibble on them. She was finished with her observations. It really did not tell her much anyway. Who was this man? Why was he replacing Dr. Grady? This must be some sort of punishment for her crimes. Perhaps he was more cruel than that insensitive Dr. Grady. Maybe she was going to be disciplined. She wondered if he even knew of yesterday's events.

Emil was positively giddy with excitement as he spun his way down the hall towards the director's room behind the male nurse. The director of this place himself wanted to speak with Emil? Oh, that was thrilling. He had been a very good boy lately, so surely there was no trouble. Perhaps he was getting awarded! Maybe the Director was going to give him a lollipop! Or ice cream! Cake, maybe? Oh, the possibilities in the bright-eyed boy's eyes were endless. He hummed happily, stopping every two spins to take a rather large step over an off-colored floor panel. He didn't seem to notice whether or not the male nurse escorting him cared or not.

Emil only stopped skipping and spinning when he was stopped by the flat, outstretched hand of said nurse, telling him without speaking to stop. Emil stopped, rocking on his heel as he did so suddenly, and watched as the nurse knocked on the door and peeked his head in. There were some mumblings that Emil disregarded as he laughed to himself at the prospect of a male nurse. This was the first time he'd seen a male nurse in this place. Was he new? Probably not. Emil was not that attentive to begin with. He was usually stuck dealing with the harsh female nurses to begin with when he was here. The nurse withdrew from the room and pointed to the door with his thumb. "Director Vamsi will see you now, Emil." He stepped aside, making sure Emil would enter the room and not run off. His caution was pointless, however, as Emil happily rushed past the nurse and into the Director's office.

The door closed behind him, going again unnoticed as Emil took in the new surroundings. The first thing he noticed was the sound of some soft jazz filling the room, just soft enough to be ambient. Everything was so... orderly. So neat and organized. Emil immediately disliked it. Too much organization. There was no whim or interest to be found in this room. Paying no mind to the Director as he tried to learn this room, a particular painting caught his eye. With a slow, almost swan-like spin, he and his wind-lifted sleeves made their way to the piece of artwork to examine it. In a bit of a flash, Emil's lips instantly curled up in a wide smile that just barely revealed his teeth. Sleeve-covered hands tilted it from the corner no more than six degrees counter-clockwise as the boy seemed to let out a sigh of relief. "That's a bit better..." He muttered before turning to face the Director.

Emil knew the face, but they had never exchanged many words. This Director's hair was surprisingly long for one who seemed to care so much for order and being well-kempt. Yet, even this drawn-back ponytail didn't have a hair out of place. His glasses had no glare or stain on them either. "I don't like him..." Emil thought to himself, but his large smile seemed to express otherwise. Twirling just a few feet in front of the Director, following it immediately with a bow that seemed just part of the spin, he rose back up and let his messy green hair fall just over his eyes. "Emil Jasper. That murse said you wanted to see me." Instead of taking a seat in a chair, he let himself fall into a criss-cross position on the floor where he had once stood, staring up into the director's lensed eyes. "What can I do for you, sir?" His eyes seemed to betray his smile, an obvious cold glance in them that didn't bother hiding his distrust.

"There are things in this world that you cannot oppose, no matter how hard you try."

With every single movement Emil made, the Director's hard gray eyes carefully watched and digested. This was Emil. Oh yes, he has heard many things about Emil in the past. He did not move an inch as Emil waltzed into his office, not even acknowledging him. The boy even had the audacity to touch one of his most treasured painting that was famously known as, The Scream by Edvard Munch. His jaw locked as the boy angled it incorrectly and stated, "That's a bit better."

Though it was barely noticeable since his mouth was hidden behind his hands. The boy then continued to smile in what many would consider creepy, though the Director was seemingly unaffected. His expression was callous. He seemed neither interested nor disinterested. It was quite hard to tell. Emil then sat cross-legged on the floor after introducing himself which also irked the Director. How distasteful that he has no manners, the Director thought as he now glared down at the boy. Adjusting his glasses with his middle finger at the bridge, he cleared his throat, "Yes, I already know who you are Emil. Please, have a seat. I insist. These floors are quite filthy, never staying clean for long. Anyway, I am the director here of this clinic." His words were very firm and more of an order than a hospitable gesture. Emil had already annoyed him by moving the painting. These kids had no manners or consideration whatsoever, orphan or not. The man did not even bother giving his full name, seeing it as unimportant his guinea pigs know of such a thing.

His attention was then thwarted towards Emil's folder in which he began to scurry through looking for something specific. He stopped at a picture with a slight, "Aha!" and tugged it out while laying it upside down on his desk so that Emil could not see it yet. However, he remained silent while observing Emil's expression and demeanor for a long while. All that could be heard through the eerie silence was the soft jazz playing in the background. The Director seemed to have notice and he pulled out a small remote from his right drawer to turn it off. Now it was completely quiet. Finally, he decided to break the silence, "Actually Emil, I know a great deal about you. Most likely more than you even know about yourself. Than anyone here at this clinic. But I thought it was time we got to know each other on a... personal level." The Director had paused in his statement followed by a sinister smile that firmly planted itself across his lips. He was observing Emil carefully again. As though the young man were a creature that truly fascinated him. "How are you feeling by the way? You started a new treatment recently. Our meetings will now be a new addition to your treatment. However, I was wondering how this has all been affecting you?"

The Director's left palm now rested atop the mysterious upside down picture he had laid flat on his desk before him. There was a stress over his usage of the word, 'affecting' indicating something else. Perhaps he would not need to use the photo. Maybe Emil would cooperate. Though the boy was looking so unkempt. His hair was a mess and in need of a trim. How very unfortunate that he cannot even care for himself in the morning. Clearly he was just too sick to do so. With these observations, the Director grabbed his notepad that was resting neatly to his right. He then removed a pen from the pocket of his cotton white coat before jotting down a few notes.

Easily distracted...

Unkempt appearance...

Very energetic, almost manic...

Overattentive when focused...

Have not shown patient triggering photo yet.

Poor soul. These symptoms would need to be addressed as soon as possible with Dr. Nox. He'd pass these notes along once their meeting with each other concluded. He then removed his lenses, pulling out his beige silicon cloth to wipe them clean once more. He was very interested in the boy's response, curiosity being reflected off his cold pair of gray-colored eyes.

He knows! I'm done for! I knew this would happen!
What do I say?
If I admit to it, will they increase my meds? Oh please, don't increase my meds.
I don't even need medicine!
It was just an accident, I promise! Wait, no! NO! I don't know what happened, okay!?
It was all just a dream, I swear! It was a dream! I'm fine because I didn't do it!

In the brief instant after Dr. Nox asked her if she was responsible, Anna felt herself begin to choke. Her thoughts started to race. Her demeanor was becoming quite agitated and she fidgeted in her seat a bit too much. She furiously chewed on her fingernails nervously and occasionally would tug at the collar of her shirt as if she were overheated. The thoughts were becoming overbearing and finally she shouted rather quickly, "I didn't do anything! I don't know what happened! I'm just as confused! Honest!" Her voice cracked at the end of her outburst. She did not like this man. He was too calm, too relaxed, too cold with his words. It was driving her mad and making her extremely uncomfortable. Her chest began to heave heavily as anxiety poured through her realizing the mistake she made. She lost her cool. Most likely she would regret this. Nothing good ever came from expressing one's self. This doctor was so good at hiding his own feelings! How did he do it so well!?

Suddenly, she felt compelled to continue speaking for herself as though it would disregard her outburst and noticeably hastened speech, "I didn't have any nightmares. They had nightmares. I was just standing there and then I sort of blacked out. I don't know why they did. I don't even remember them falling asleep. I wasn't even asleep, I was still awake! I just don't remember because I was scared."

Finally Anna looked up at Dr. Nox, her eyes glistening with water as frustrated tears threatened to escape her tear ducts. She was biting down on her lip with worry and trying to hold herself back from saying more. But the words kept pouring out uncontrollably, "Don't increase my medicine. I don't need the medicine. Please! The medicine makes me crazy!" Anna gasped as she finished her sentence, clasping her hands over her mouth. This was all a mistake. A huge mistake. Why did she even speak? Now she was doomed. Throughout all her outbursts, Dr. Nox was seemingly unfazed. He remained perfectly calm and in him doing so, it only seemed to make her more unstable. Instead she gripped her head, digging the remainder of her jagged fingernails into her temples as she stared back at the ground wide eyed and almost in shock. She was repulsed by her own actions.

Meanwhile...

ImageA rather bored Dr. Lydia Grady entered the reception area in which an unconscious Alice Clovers was sprawled out across the floor. She clucked her tongue with disapproval as she approached the unconscious girl and group of nurses that surrounded her with an empty syringe. Her right forearm was clinging to her own personal clipboard that had charts and all sorts of notes pinned together. She wore a tight brown dress that fell just above her knees paired with solid brown closed-toed heels along with her long cotton white coat that all the doctors here wore.

"Ugh, already? She didn't even make it through the doors," Grady groaned with distaste as she acknowledged Alice on the floor. "Well I don't have all day, put her on a stretcher and bring her to one of the overnight rooms seeing as we can't use an examination room for... this."

"A filthy mouth that one has. Doesn't know when to shut her mouth and lacks any sign of respect!" Beatrice growled from behind her desk, looking up from her own paperwork.

ImageGrady turned and glanced at Beatrice curiously before smirking, "Oh? Is that so? We'll have to address that then." At this point the nurses had lifted Alice onto a stretcher and began to push her down the hallway. Dr. Grady sighed as though she were the one being tortured than followed after the nurses and stretcher. At the nurses station stood the 'delicate' Dr. Riley who was smiling sweetly as she discussed with the two remaining nurses what tools she required for the physicals. Some of the items she requested seemed completely unrelated to the procedure, but Grady never questioned Riley's methods. Riley had her own way of doing things and if anything, Grady found it to be somewhat adorable of the seemingly gentle doctor. "Poor Cynthia, seems like you get to deal with the thread boy first today," Dr. Grady teased as she passed her coworker. Dr. Riley simply smiled in response feeling all too happy about today's work.

"Another new doctor?" Emil seemed amused as he looked up at the director of this facility, not moving from his position on the floor. "What happened to my old one? Did she get scared and leave me, too? That'll be the..." With his hands as his focus, he bends a finger back a little bit as he counts them off, mouthing the numbers with no voice, only to shrug and slap his hands onto his knees. "Ah whatever, I lost count." The glare behind the doctor's lenses were condescending. Full of pity. Emil knew those looks quite well, never really understanding them. But they did make him upset. "So you know more about me than I know about myself? Awesome! That means I can spare you the details. All of the other doctors are like 'Oh, Emil, tell me about how your parents stabbed each other to death!' And blah blah blah... Tired of explaining that one." He shrugs once more, leaning forward a bit as if he was going to tell the Director a secret. "My parents love each other very much, I'll have you know. And they love me, too. I'm happy with them." He was speaking in the present tense, because to him his parents were very much still alive despite being buried years and years ago.

Rising up to his feet in one swift, spring-like motion, he fell backwards into a chair that screeched for a brief moment as it moved back with his fall. That condescending glare was really getting to Emil. "So you want to be on a more personal level with me, Director? Cool, cool, I gotcha. We can get to know each other." Emil crossed one leg over the other and let oversized sleeves fall over his legs. "But you said you already know me. And I know me! You know you, but I don't. So I'm gonna get to know you a bit better." A smug grin took his lips over as his own eyes narrowed a bit. This man held no love or care for him, he got that feeling quickly. It was in his eyes, the way he spoke so formally. Emil hated it. "When did you start balding? I see that spot on the top. I notice you don't wear a ring. Have you never been married, or did she leave you? Do you ever spend your nights binge eating ice cream from the tub wondering where your life has gone? Thinking you could be out there flying rockets or being in a nice library somewhere instead of having to stare at kids from behind those glasses and labeling them 'insane' or something? Because I'll tell you, Mr. Director," he continued, throwing his arms up in a sarcastic shrug, "I think I'm a little more worried about you. You've gotta be like, what, fifty? Your life can't be everything you wanted. Sitting in that chair, staring at me. I bet you think I'm a little freak too, don't you?" The Director didn't need to say it. Emil could feel it.

Soft whispers floated about in the boy's head, though none of what they said could really be discerned from one another. Emil was far too focused on this doctor, the hostile presence he felt without any real attack. Emil sat back in his chair, slowly building up a chuckle as his hand made its way to his face. The white sleeve of the shirt encompassed the majority of his visage, little slivers of red marking the otherwise clean fabric. Emil just couldn't fight the chuckling that soon turned to manic giggling. "I mean, look at you! Your eyes look dead! I get it! You were bullied in school, right? That's why you and your guys pick on me. Stare at me the way you do. This is your revenge, right? On those bullies. I understand, totally!" His thoughts were spaced between laughter as he tried to gasp for breath. Emil felt like he could read this man like a book, despite very little of what he was saying actually having any truth to them. Oh, the joy he felt from that... As he tried to calm himself from his laughing fit, he turned sideways in the chair so that his head was hanging off one arm and his legs the other. "Ahh... To answer your question, though... I was doing really great until you started looking at me. Thanks for asking, though. How are you?" The question obviously did not beg an answer. It was a sarcastic jab, a play at formality. There was no tact or kindness behind it. Simply just another attack on him.

"There are things in this world that you cannot oppose, no matter how hard you try."

The Director listened intently, his expression seemingly unfazed by all the insults being thrown at him. In fact, he chose to ignore them. He did not immediately respond to Emil, instead he grabbed his pen once more, clicked it, then began to scribble down some more notes. His handwriting was somewhat messy and a bit hard to read. A stigma attached to doctors so they say.

Easily agitated...

On the defensive...

Restless...

Seeming to experience paranoia...

The Director then gently placed down his pen as he closed his eyes for a moment. He was collecting his thoughts and briefly adjusted his glasses on his face before looking at Emil again. "Tell me Emil, why do you believe your parents loved each other so much if they only hurt one another? Do you see others doing such things to show their affection?" Suddenly, the phone on his desk began to emit a beeping sound while flashing red at the small bulb in the top right corner. The interruption clearly annoyed him for a small frown took its place on his countenance. He picked up the phone and exchanged a few brief words with his receptionist, Beatrice.

"So he's late? I see. I'm with a patient right now so have that nurse, Candice, deal with him. I'll fetch him shortly. Thank you," he said in response to Beatrice's notifying him of Walter Wren Boyden's "punctuality." He was otherwise known as Skulduggery. That boy had proven to be another troublesome one that never learned his lesson. However, Candice was the nurse that always took care of the late ones. Surely she could handle this until he was done here with Emil.

Finally, his attention returned to Emil although he seemed somewhat distracted now. "My apologies. Anyway, let's cut to the chase here. You see Emil, I received an interesting phone call from the orphanage the other day about an incident with you," the Director disclosed as he lifted the upside down picture off of his desk and revealed it to Emil. "Do you recognize this boy?" The picture he showed was of the same boy that Emil had supposedly cut in an interesting manner. Really, the Director was hoping to get some sort of reaction out of Emil by revealing this photo. He hoped it would confirm his suspicions if what happened was actually true. "This boy certainly knows you. Actually, he's quite afraid of you. I could not imagine why. Perhaps you can enlighten me."

If Emil Jasper was indeed experiencing agitation right now, surely he could attempt to provoke the boy into telling the truth. Maybe he would even show his power to him. Regardless, he would continue to pester him for the truth. One way or another, he would find out. There was nothing preventing him from doing so.
