'Flight? Why not?

Nickname: Emmy
Age: 17
Birth date: 1st June
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Camp: Fairview
Cabin: One
Powers:
Gravity Manipulation
'Let's do zero gravity! Then we can fly'
Emmy has the ability to generate and manipulate graviton, a hypothetical elementary particle that mediates the force of a gravitation field. Emmy can bend gravity to make an are very 'heavy' or 'light', making objects either float with less gravity or be almost crushed with heavy gravity.
Emmy can alter to gravity of a particular area or repel/attract objects using herself as the epicentre. This particular skill isn't as well developed but Emmy is learning to draw objects towards her by making the gravity surrounding herself heavier. It works almost like telekinesis.
Weaknesses:
Thus far her main weakness is lack of skills. Emmy should, hypothetically, be able to use her power to generate miniature black holes that could crush objects into nonexistence. However she is still learning to alter gravity fields around herself.
She is prone to headaches and nosebleeds if she uses her power too much. The more she uses it and the bigger the area or object, the faster her energy is drained.
Emmy also needs to be concentrating extremely hard to use her gift. If her concentration is broken, her powers will stutter and she'll have to start again.

Fears:
Accidentally creating a black hole and destroying the world 'One wrong move and bam, the world is crushed into oblivion;
Losing her powers 'I love being able to make my room zero gravity, how would I live without that?'
Becoming Paralysed 'A fear I've had ever since my brother's accident.'
Hobbies:
Reading 'I love to lose myself in the pages of a book.'
Flying 'The best thing about my power is that I can alter the gravity around myself to fly.'
Thoughts: 'I've always been glad that I came to Fairview instead of Maydon, the atmosphere is so much friendlier and there's never any pressure to compete. Sure, if I was in Maydon I might be able to do things with my powers that I can't do now, but I know that eventually I'll master them;

Personality:
Emmy is a mixture of optimistic day-dreamer and distracted bookworm.
There are times when Emmy's mind can wonder, picturing events to come, unrealistic scenarios and whatever else her mind dreams up. She can often be found lazing in the sun while using her power to float objects around her. Her head is often stuck in the clouds and at times it can take several calls of her name before she'll realise someone is talking to her.
Emmy loves to read and when she finds a good book will generally be seen with her nose in it until she's finished reading. Her favourite way to read? Making her room zero gravity and read while floating in the air. Her powers are rarely used to harm or hinder others, the majority of what she uses them for are small, irrelevant tasks. If there's an item across the room she'll change the gravity between her and it so that she doesn't have to move. Some might call this aspect of her lazy, but Emmy prefers to think of it as energy saving.
Emmy unfortunately, lacks any coordination when it comes to sports. Throw an object at Emmy and she's more than likely to drop it. Luckily, given her power to control gravity, Emmy can stop most objects before they crash on the floor.
Emmy has always been a friendly person. She's never been shy of introducing herself to strangers or striking up a conversation. If the conversation dies you can guarantee that she'll have some quirky fact to start it going again. Emmy tries not to judge people and will only outright dislike someone if they give her good reasons. She trusts easily and is inclined to believe the best in people. At times this can make her seem slightly gullible.
Emmy has always done well enough in school, a surprising thing given her habit of drifting off in class. She does possess a decent mind, but often doesn't feel the need to prove her intelligence. It's enough for her that she can think, she doesn't see the need to prove to others. She takes that approach about most things. She knows some people may find her personality off putting and frustrating, but as long as she's happy with who she is she sees no reason to change herself.
History:
Emmy was born to Maggie and Leo South, a pair of happy early-childhood teachers who instilled their love of life into Emmy and her older sisters. As the youngest child Emmy was often the one being looked after, she was the baby of the family after all and as such was constantly being mothered by her family.
Even from a young age Emmy was 'away with the fairies' as her mother always termed it. She would often wonder off as a passing fancy took her attention and be found chatting happily with a neighbour or reading high up in a tree. Her behaviour was slightly worrying to her parents, hence the reason why her mother, father and two older sisters constantly felt like they had to watch out for her.
Emmy always enjoyed school. She made friends and enjoyed the time spent in class, but most of all she loved the access to the school library. The library became her haunt and it was there that her powers first became evident. A particularly persistent bully had the girl cornered one rainy day when she was nine. His taunts were harsh, but it was his treatment of her favourite book that finally pushed her over the edge. He grabbed it from her hands and threatened to throw it out the window into the rain. With a flash of anger Emmy unknowingly unleashed her power, smashing the boy - and the surrounding books - into the ground as the gravity increased.
It took less than a week before Emmy's uncle arrived, explaining that he could help train Emmy with her gift. While she has never been too fussed with being all powerful she has worked hard to work on her power. Her family has always been supportive and their protectiveness only seemed to increase after they discovered that she was special. Understandably they were scared that if the wrong sort of people heard about her gift then she would be used to hurt others.
Camp Fairview has been a huge help. It's her second year at the camp now and she is looking forward meeting new and old friends.
