Fears: Crowds– The woods at dark. – His family never quite accepting who he is and what he can do.
Hobbies:
Mal has played the piano since he was seven years old. He’s quite accomplished and though he’s not talented enough to be a concert pianist he thoroughly enjoys it anyway.
Although Malcolm tends to hate being dirty he does love to work on his old car, he has lovingly named her Goldie due to her color, no one has ever accused Malcolm of having a stellar imagination. He will branch out and take a look at other mechanical devices if asked to do so though he’s not quite as clever when it doesn’t involve pistons and gears.
Thoughts: I like Maydon fine I suppose, although I wonder what it would be like attend Fairview. They don’t rank their campers and sometimes I think they might be better off for it.

Personality:
Malcolm is a person who operates on logic and tends to try and not let emotions rule him. Not to say he’s not an emotional person, he’s just very stiff upper lip and was raised to be a proper gentleman. He loves logic games, word games, basically anything that requires a bit of brain power and deduction. He thoroughly enjoys sussing things out for himself, figuring out the inner workings and the hows and whys of most things.
Being a very clever and bright boy he excels at school and actually enjoys it. Mal tends to be a bit on the nerdy side with his interests in computers, literature, physics and the law but he does his best to not project that sort of image. He does have this inherent desire to be seen as cooler than he is as most teenagers do and will often come off as a bit of a nervous, bumbling sort of person.
Mal does on occasion like to cut loose and have a bit of fun though he’s not what you’d call the adventurous type. He prefers to spend his time reading a good book, playing a video game or having a quiet drink at the pub with some of his friends who tend to be similar in mindset to Malcolm. He does try and flirt with a vast majority of girls and though while not often successful he doesn’t tend to have very strict standards for the girls he dates. All they need to be is genetically female and appreciate Battlestar Galactica.
History: Malcolm was born in Manchester, England nineteen years ago, the only child of two very overprotective, doting parents. His mother was a homemaker and his father an accountant and they provided quite the comfortable life for their one and only son. He was extremely spoiled especially by his mother but it didn’t seem to have an adverse affect on his personality. He was always a very dutiful and obedient boy although he tended to be a bit on the secretive side when it came to his parents. Mal was always the sort of boy who had a secret hiding place complete with comic books, action figures and as he grew older girlie magazines.
Mal never had many friends, being quite nervous and shy in his formative years and for a period of time his mother seemed to take over the role of best friend for the boy. As he became a teenager that came to an end for the most part although to this day, even though he lives on his own, his mother babies him by doing his wash, making his dinner and doing his shopping most of the time without his knowledge. Although he often feels smothered by her affection he loves his mother and appreciates what she does for him although she really doesn’t have to.
It was when he was twelve that his ability fully manifested, he’d been talking to Ian, a friend that he suspected of cheating on a test at school. Mal only suspected him because he’d gotten a lower score than his friend which never happened, and when Mal asked him he could immediately tell that Ian was lying to him. It was if he could see it all over him, the dilation of his blood vessels, the nervous flickering body movements, and the anxiety that surrounded Ian. Slightly freaked out he went home and did what he did best. Research
After much time researching what he could do, which was apparently being some sort of human lie detector, he confronted his parents. Of course they didn’t believe their son and thought his imagination was working overdrive even if he had never been a particularly imaginative boy. He forced his parents to take him seriously and convinced them to put him to the test. After months and months of trying to fool their son with various lies they finally admitted that perhaps there was something to this.
Although they weren’t exactly ashamed of their son’s ability they were definitely not telling any of their friends or talking about it as a family either. Mal started to feel a bit like an outsider or a freak and retreated further into his shell. When he was sixteen he finally found Maydon and showed his parents that he wasn’t the only one out there who was special. After his first year away at camp he has gained much needed control over his power and some semblance of self-esteem. Seeing how well their son did while he was away at camp convinced his parents that it was just the thing he needed and he’s attended every year since.
