Being Demi-Gods

Godly Parent:
Hermes

Power:
Elliot is no special case when it came to giving out powers or anything, he was basically last thought of when it came to powers. He's probably the least talented demigod you'll ever meet, not to say he doesn't have powers but a lot of times, despite what a lot of people think he's not really much like the other children of Hermes, and he doesn't normally use his powers that he possesses. He is able to persuade people to his side, and so they see his side, this is probably the only power he uses because he uses it in debates all the time, to get people to consider his side without them being horribly biased. Elliot is also a master thief like the other children, he knows how to pick locks with such ease and get passed most locked spaces, or get anything he wants, but he hasn't actually used a lot of that to his advantage, he's more focused on other matters.

Strengths:
Judgement of character, it doesn't matter from a glance and hanging out with people, he can have a good judge of character, and he doesn't like to judge on first glance. Nurturing, he knows how to be soft and delicate when he needs to be, and he knows how to be a great parental figure. He's had practice with it though. Debating, even without his power, he's always been good at debates and he knows how to win them too, although his charming good looks could never hurt. It is all about how you use your words though and Elliot is quite good at it.
Good with his hands, being able to use his hands, he has delicate but also fast working hands which makes it easy to pick lock doors, and they're fairly sturdy which is also a good quality when it comes to picking locks, again though it's not like he uses these powers anyways.
Word play, he's got an excellent way with words, and he knows how to talk circles even around teachers, and he's strongest when he uses his words instead of using violence, plus violence never solves anything.

Weaknesses and Flaws:
Singing, he's always had a terrible voice and normally sounds like a dying whale when he sings, so he wont sing for anyone.Swimming, he's never liked it because he's horrible at it, but he will still go swimming anyways.Gymnastics, he can't really bend and move like that, he can't do much when it comes to fancy tricks and such.
Wandering mind, his wandering mind can often put his word play into danger which puts his ability to change people's minds. Cold, it never helps his hands in picking locks, and they make it so they're more shaky.

Losing his loved ones, he only has his mother and his son left, and he'd be crushed if he lost them.
Heights, he can't stand heights at all.

Secrets:
He has a child, it's not a huge secret, close friends or anyone close to him knows about his son, he doesn't try to hide his son, it's more secretive about who his mother was, he's a bit touchy on the subject a bit.
He hates being a child of Hermes.

In-Depth

Personality:
Elliot is a fairly outgoing person and he seems to be able to liven up any room that he walks into. He's more so of a one for jokes and he loves to be able to have a good time, and he wont be fake or pretend just to fit in. Elliot is who he is and there's nothing but the truth in that, but then again he is a sweet guy and he wont be horribly rude, and be so blunt, he's a nice guy, and if anything if he sees something he'll try to help, he's a believer in standing up for people and others, you have to be able to show some humanity somewhere, and Elliot likes to be able to prove not all of mankind is horribly wrong. Much like his father though, he has a trickster side he can't help. He loves to play tricks all the time and things will soon become a game to him that he can't help but play a lot of the time. He sees no harm in harmless pranks, and he has been known for a few famous ones around school. Pranks are essentially his addiction that he hates to do and he's trying not to do it as much.

Even though, Elliot has a son, he's still a guy and he still likes girls. If anything he's a charming flirt like there's no tomorrow. He'll compliment something about a girl, whether he thinks about it or not, he sometimes gets in trouble with some of his "compliments" and gets smacked for it, but he still has a goofy grin on his face at the end of the day. His last comment that got him in trouble was probably the whole thing about a girl's ass looking mighty fine in those hug tight jeans. That got a good smack, but Elliot just grinned and chuckled about it, as he can be a bit of a pervert sometimes, and honestly, it never harms him to look at a girl. He's been one to be real smooth with the ladies before and he used to be the whole long term kinda guy until one girl in his past happened. Now he has late one night stands here and there just to get it out of his system. He doesn't really believe he is capable of love anymore.

Then there's his loving father side, where he is able to have those stupid father jokes, to being able to be strict with his son when he needs to. He also just has a heart of gold when it comes to children, and he knows how to take care of them very well. Ever since he had to take care of his step sister a lot, he was already prepared to take care of a baby, and he knew how. He's changed many diapers, and he's not a dad to shy away from it, but it's rather difficult to do that when you're a single father. He's still learning a few things on being a father, but he is very kind and caring, and tries to do everything that he can for his son. He has huge motivation and inspiration. He's got good determination and he's highly stubborn. Chances you'll change his mind are close to none.

History:
Long ago back in the United States, was where Hermes had met, Elliot's mother, Victoria. She was a prideful woman and she was very competitive and she was basically a warrior. Hermes had been drawn in by this and he wanted to know her a bit more. As he began to know her a bit more he realized she was an American Olympic athlete and she normally competes in figure skating and is known to be fairly good and she has trained a lot. Although she soon got more involved with Hermes and she loved having his company, and maybe that happened to be a bit too much of company as eventually, it ended up with Victoria getting pregnant and soon, Hermes left, and Victoria was horribly pissed off. Although being a warrior she had managed on her own but she had to give up the Olympics to take care of her baby. She ended up having twins but sadly her daughter was a still born and Elliot was the only left. She cherished him all that he was worth though, and he was her baby boy.

Victoria despite her warrior attitude and personality, she was still a caring and loving mother. She would play with her son a lot and they were very close while he was growing up. She had no idea that she had a child of Hermes until he was about the age of thirteen, and that was when Hermes had dropped by to visit and explain everything to a very mad Victoria, she kept hitting him and yelling at him, until she calmed down and they had a good heart to heart talk, and then she found out about the academy she decided to enroll him in when he was sixteen years of age. Although he convinced her for awhile that he could stay in public school with his girlfriend who he had dated since he was fourteen and they were very close. They did a lot together and eventually when they were sixteen they were a bit young and foolish and she ended up pregnant, but he had decided to stay with Felicity through thick and thin.

Things got very complicated though when it had happened to have been the night Felicity went into labour there was many complications and they were just hoping for the best and praying for things to work out. There was some scary parts where they were believed to lose their son, but in the end, Felicity had ended up passing some time after childbirth which devastated Elliot. Although he decided to keep his son and he went to the academy after that and was able to manage his time better to take care of his son, Alistar. Not to mention Victoria is a great grandmother and helps Elliot out with his son, and they're quite happy anyways. Elliot now is just trying to get a good degree so he can have a good job and support his son.

Theme Song:
Say Something || Christina Aguilera
Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'll be the one, if you want me to
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you

And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all

And I will stumble and fall
I'm still learning to love
Just starting to crawl

Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you

And I will swallow my pride
You're the one that I love
And I'm saying goodbye

Say something, I'm giving up on you
And I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
And anywhere I would've followed you (Oh-oh-oh-oh)
Say something, I'm giving up on you

Say something, I'm giving up on you
Say something...

So begins...

Time: 8.30am

The weather seems to rest at a comfortable temperature, not too warm or too cold. Curiously, the seasons of the Academy don't seem to relate much to the outside world, in fact it usually seems to be a mild summer day even if snow storms rage outside of it's boundaries. Of course, with a collection of super-powered demi-gods within it's walls the weather and many other aspects of life is always likely to change rapidly.

The Academy's first day of classes is always a more relaxed day for the students. Classes start slightly later than usual at 9.30am (usually classes begin at 8.55am) and end just after midday to allow for the traditional game of Capture the Flag in the afternoon.

However, this early in the morning most students can be found rising from their sleep and preparing for their day. All the students have arrived earlier in the week, giving everyone a chance to catch up on their holidays and make themselves at home again. Of course, the week has also given the students a chance to reopen old wounds, confirming past enmities or on the flip side form new friendships. Of course others have used the free week to get a head start on their studies, start working on an invention or begin to plan pranks. Of particular interest to the party animals would have been the nearby town bar which hosted a party the previous night. Of course leaving the school grounds is prohibited...

Given the vast array of personalities at the Academy, this year promises to be a very interesting one.

Time: 9.45am

Classes have started for the students.
The University students are currently in Power Control situated in the training courts.
The high school students are in either English or Maths class.

The class had started 15 minutes ago. The teacher, one Mr Frank Solomon, had first greeted the returning students warmly, obviously pleased to find the majority alive and relatively sane. His instructions had then been to enjoy the first day of classes. He had given them several options, each designed to help them get out of their holiday funk and get back into the swing of things. Set up at the further end of the training courts was a collection of targets and dummies, ranging in shapes and sizes. Some were stationary and some would move when in play. All offered a good place for students who wished to exercise control and train their precision with their powers. Closer to him, where he could watch and make sure that nobody went overboard, were the sparring areas. These were places where students could have mock fights against each other, using their powers to defeat their opponents. Of course, actually hurting anyone was against the rules, hence why Mr Solomon was hovering nearby. As usual for those not inclined to fighting, tables had been erected to the side to allow students, usually Athena and Hephaestus' children, to but their brains to the test. In between each area other students had come up with their own lesson plan, each stretching out their powers in their own way.

Amelia had been inclined to head down to the set up of dummies. There she, and the other students who had picked the moving targets, were busy decimating the Academy's population of stuffed targets. With a grin Amelia sent another sizzling bolt of lightning flying towards the dummy, reducing it to a smouldering heap of ash in seconds. Her hands were buzzing with miniature lightning bolts, the air around her seemed to be giving off a slightly static vibe and she couldn't help but smile. She sighted down the range again, threw her hands up in front of her and sent a flurry of lightning bolts flying towards a target set up halfway down the range. It exploded in an eruption of smoke and Amelia turned her attention to the next target. This one popped out of the ground on her left side, moving forward on it's mechanism. It was shaped like a mythical hall hound and ran low to the ground. Even so it didn't stand a chance as Amelia sent another bolt of lightning flying at it.

She took a step back from the moving targets, both to let her peers have a go and to catch her breath. Power control was undoubtedly one of Amelia's favourite classes. Where else was she able to use her gift without the fear of hurting another person? After all, lightning wasn't exactly the most pleasant thing to be hit with. She loved the feeling of it's power racing through her and had to resist going overboard. As she caught her breath, Amelia glanced around the courts. She spotted Eddie lounging on the sidelines and couldn't help but shake her head. She knew that his powers weren't really the active, fighting type. They were dangerous in their own way, or they could be if he trained them, but she understood his fear about losing control of them. Insanity wasn't something easy to control. But, he'd never learn how to if he simply sat and did nothing. With a shrug Amelia turned her attention back to the targets.

Ariel sat at the back of the Maths class, choosing to block out most of what Miss Francis, the teacher, was saying. Class was really not her thing. She would much rather be out socialising, or attending VIP events. Sitting here was not her idea of a good time. So instead of tuning into the lesson Ariel was staring at her nails, tapping each finger nail with her opposite hand and changing the colour with her powers. She had always been glad that her power over make-up extended to her nails. It meant that she always had the perfect nail colour and didn't have to spend money on the actual polish, not that money had ever been a problem for her. Ariel had just settled on a pastel green for one hand when she was jolted from her thoughts.

"Miss Lee, are you paying attention?" The teacher, Miss Francis asked across the silent room. Ariel glanced up from her hands to find Miss Francis staring at her, her arms folded across her chest and her own unpainted nails tapping quietly against her opposite arm. Ariel felt no fear towards the teacher. How could she when the woman was wearing a hideous floral dress matched with a pair of last seasons sandals? "No Miss. I was doing my nails." Ariel replied, smiling serenely at the woman. Miss Francis stared at Ariel, not quite sure how to react to the girl. It was obvious that she had never had Ariel as a student, or she would have let the comment go. As it was Miss Francis was willing to give Ariel a chance. She cleared her throat and pointed to a particular problem on the board, "Please Miss Lee, what is the answer to this problem?" Ariel cast a lazy look at the board. There was no way she could answer that. So instead she called on her favourite weapon, her powers. Subtly was the answer and Ariel had mastered that long ago. It was slightly harder at the Academy given that here powers were common place, but that didn't make it impossible. "I don't know Miss." Ariel replied clearly, giving Miss Francis her best smile. Then, with a mental push she thrust a collection of emotions at Miss Francis. Miss Francis, about to frown at Ariel and no doubt tell her off, suddenly paused. Her face took on a content expression as she turned her gaze from the question to Ariel. Miss Francis gave Ariel a kind smile and shook her head. "Well then. That's alright. We'll move along." She said before rubbing the problem off and turning to the next one.

Ariel rolled her eyes at Miss Francis' back. She hadn't been much of a challenge. It had only taken a small amount of happiness, contentment and acceptance to make her change her tune. Really, Ariel would never be able to grow her power if she was forced to solely manipulate people as weak minded as Miss Francis. However, she had another year before she could legally leave the Academy, so it would be another year until she was able to step out into the world and put her considerable talents to good use.
