Godly Parent:
Hades
King of the underworld
God of the Dead and Riches

Power:
Darkness Manipulation – Simon has the ability to harness the dark and bend it to his will within certain constraints. He’s able to bend darkness, such as shadows, twisting and bending them to his will. Simon also has a natural sort of night vision that allows him to see within the shadows without impairment. He’s able to create the absence of light and is thought that one day he will be able to transport himself through the dark energy although it’s something he has yet to have mastered. He can communicate with the creatures within the darkness and in some rare cases can bend them to his will.

Aura Awareness – Simon has the ability to sense other's life energy, or aura. he can, with great concentration discern health, emotion and moral alignment. it's an ability that doesn't have much offensive power but it definitely comes in handy with his desire to become a medical doctor.

Strengths:
Excellent memory – Extremely organized – Is near unflappable – Playing the piano – Intuitive – Great bedside manner - Functions perfectly in complete darkness - Feels noticeably healthier and happier when surrounded by people with healthy auras.

Weaknesses and Flaws:
Lacks self-confidence – Anal retentive – Has difficulty trusting – Smoking - Public speaking – Has massive headaches and nosebleeds if he focuses too much on reading auras – Well-lit areas - Feels noticeably weaker and sicklier when surrounded by unhealthy auras.

Sharing Our Desires

Likes:
The Dark – Rare Books – Tea – Cigarettes – Girls – Learning – Debates – Boys – Rainy Days – The Piano – Writing Music – Presents – Orderliness – Cleanliness.

Dislikes:
Disarray – Bright Sunny Days – Rejection – Being Wrong – Embarrassment – Chaos – Lateness – Rudeness – Violence – Coffee - Birds - Shaving

Hobbies:
Piano – Simon has played the piano since he was four years old and is quite proficient. It’s something he does when he needs to clear his head or think things out. He also writes music for himself but is loathe to let anyone know.

Photography – Simon also enjoys photography although it was a hobby he picked up later on. He likes to hide behind the lens and capture moments he can’t be a part of but he cherishes his time alone in the dark room the most.

Fears:
Failure – Failing out of school, never becoming a doctor and letting down his family.

Losing Control of his ability – Simon has expressed fear of his ability to move within the shadows. An ability he hasn’t experimented with much due to the fear of being stuck forever in the dark.

Overwhelming Attention – Simon absolutely detests the thought of all eyes on him, embarrassment is one thing that makes him break out in a sweat. Making a fool of himself in front of other people, becoming the butt of their jokes is one of the worst things he can imagine

Secrets:
Although Simon and his mother are aware of who his true father is, the man who raised Simon as his own son does not. Simon’s mother thought it was best for everyone to keep such knowledge to themselves; it would only hurt his “father” and make life uncomfortable. Personally Simon thinks his mother is ashamed, of him or the fact she couldn't tell her husband from a god. So in keeping with his mother wishes he remains quiet but has conflicting feelings of guilt.

In-Depth

Personality:
The young demi-god is exactly what you might expect from the son of Hades. He’s neat, orderly, studious and a born pragmatist. Occasionally he has difficulty fitting in and often times prefers his own company to that of others although it’s something that he’s been trying to remedy recently. Smart and inquisitive, Simon can be tenacious when needed and conversely completely hands off when called for.

He struggles with his inherent shyness and as much as it mortifies him he makes an effort to include himself in activities involving his peers. Given enough time he comes out of his shell and proves that he can actually be quite funny, if a bit dry and extremely charming if given the chance. Simon has had few romantic entanglements but the ones he has had weren’t fly by night affairs. Simon is very particular about who he allows into his head, heart and bed.

The young student spends a majority of his time studying. It was drilled into his head at an early age that he would be a success. It was just how his life would play out and he had no choice in it. So in response Simon has become quite precise in his studies, going above and beyond when he can. The fear of failure motivates Simon like nothing else and he beats himself up mercilessly when he perceives something he did as a failure, something that rears its head in all aspects of his life.

The Past Defines Us

History:
Simon’s birth was as unremarkable as anything else that ever happened to the Chancellors, who were quite normal verging onto boring. He was a quiet baby, never fussy or colicky and was quite the gift to his parents. They’d thought for so long that they’d never have a child of their own so in fact Simon was the answer to their long suffering prayer. He just wasn’t from the God they’d anticipated.

Emma Chancellor had been married to John Chancellor since she was eighteen; they were quite devoted to each other. They were a staid, stable couple and soon enough they thought that their family could make do with extra additions. That’s when the stress began, it seemed as though a child wasn’t in the cards for the family.

It nearly broke Emma’s heart to think of never having a child, all she’d ever wanted was to be a mother and now she’d have to figure her way around biology. Adoption would be next on the table and she fervently hoped they would achieve their goal some way.

It was after the news came that they’d been placed on a waiting list that spanned years that the Chancellor’s very nearly gave up their dream. Emma couldn’t bear to face her husband any longer and closed herself in her bedroom to have a good cry and to fall asleep alone. It was then that he came to her.
Hades had heard her pleas and pain and was prepared to change that for her. It didn’t seem proper or right that a perfectly decent woman would remain bereft of what she most desired. So in the guise of her husband he stole into her bed, neither Chancellor the wiser. Nine months later Simon was welcomed into the world. A true miracle.

It wasn’t until Simon’s ability to manipulate darkness and sense auras manifested that the truth became known. Simon had grown frightened of the things he saw. The things he knew about people and the fact that shadows danced wildly around him had driven him to his wit’s end, let alone the creatures that chittered at him from the darkness.

To soothe his son’s fear of madness, Hades visited their home while John was away. He explained to Emma and to Simon who he was and why he was there. Although it was a lot to take in, the Chancellor’s accepted the tale. What’s done was done and now there was nothing to do but buck up and deal with it, which was the sort of people they were. Their visit was quite civil bordering on pleasant, Hades only comment on his child was that he seemed to be "levelheaded". Then that was that, Hades was gone and Simon would be off to some special Academy. The only thing left was how to explain it to John Chancellor.

Deciding to keep Simon’s true parentage to herself Emma convinced her husband that Simon should attend a special boarding school for gifted students. Simon had won a scholarship, of course Simon’s true benefactor was Hades but what John didn’t know couldn’t hurt him.
Simon arrived at the school when he was fourteen and has been there ever since, returning home for summers and holiday vacations where he is sure to never go into detail about what he was actually learning while away.

Other: Although Simon knows that Hades is his true father he feels no real connection to the god he met with for an hour. While acknowledging that he is very much like Hades in appearance and temperament he considers the man who raised him to be his true father.

Theme Song:
Rococo || Arcade Fire
"Rococo"

Let's go downtown and watch the modern kids
Let's go downtown and talk to the modern kids
They will eat right out of your hand
Using great big words that they don't understand
They're singing:

Rococo, rococo, rococo, rococo
Rococo, rococo, rococo, rococo

They build it up just to burn it back down
They build it up just to burn it back down
The wind is blowing all the ashes around
Oh my dear God what is that horrible song they're singin'

Rococo, rococo, rococo, rococo
Rococo, rococo, rococo, rococo
Rococo, rococo, rococo, rococo
Rococo, rococo, rococo, rococo
Rococo, rococo!
Rococo!

They seem wild but they are so tame
They seem wild but they are so tame
They're moving towards you with their colors all the same
They want to own you but they don't know what game they're playing

Rococo, rococo, rococo, rococo
Rococo!
Rococo!

(Rococo)
(Rococo)

Rococo!
Rococo!

(Rococo)
(Rococo)

Rococo!

So begins...

Time: 8.30am

The weather seems to rest at a comfortable temperature, not too warm or too cold. Curiously, the seasons of the Academy don't seem to relate much to the outside world, in fact it usually seems to be a mild summer day even if snow storms rage outside of it's boundaries. Of course, with a collection of super-powered demi-gods within it's walls the weather and many other aspects of life is always likely to change rapidly.

The Academy's first day of classes is always a more relaxed day for the students. Classes start slightly later than usual at 9.30am (usually classes begin at 8.55am) and end just after midday to allow for the traditional game of Capture the Flag in the afternoon.

However, this early in the morning most students can be found rising from their sleep and preparing for their day. All the students have arrived earlier in the week, giving everyone a chance to catch up on their holidays and make themselves at home again. Of course, the week has also given the students a chance to reopen old wounds, confirming past enmities or on the flip side form new friendships. Of course others have used the free week to get a head start on their studies, start working on an invention or begin to plan pranks. Of particular interest to the party animals would have been the nearby town bar which hosted a party the previous night. Of course leaving the school grounds is prohibited...

Given the vast array of personalities at the Academy, this year promises to be a very interesting one.

Elinor trudged out of her dorm, which was probably the most normal on campus save for the many booby traps placed throughout. The children of Hermes didn’t go easy on anyone not even each other and this morning in the shower she’d come across one. The resulting cold shower was torture but it did help wake her up a bit. She’d had no sleep, after leaving a party in the late hours of the night she tipsily decided to start the year off right and went to setup a little prank. Nothing too serious, plus she just couldn’t help herself once she got it into her head. Impulse control wasn’t quite Elinor’s forte.

Buttoning her jean jacket she couldn’t help but smile to herself as the wind played with her long blonde hair, it was worth losing sleep if it meant she got to be the first person to give Zeus something new to hang on to. Sure she got a little singed, but he was technically her grandfather so he couldn’t be too angry with her. Wondering if anyone had discovered the paddle yet, the small blonde began the trek to the jointly shared cafeteria.

Slipping into the cafeteria just as it was beginning to grow busy Elinor absently flipped her hair away from her face and joined the line. Noticing Eddie already sitting she favored him with a grin and a small wave and turned back to the line to snatch an apple. The former professional thief resisted the urge to slide the fruit into her leather bag but knew better than that. It wasn’t as if she was really paying for it anyway. Instead she tossed it in the air, caught it rubbed it on her sleeve and took a bite.

Grabbing a juice another apple, and an orange she made her way back out of the cafeteria, sparing another smile in Eddie’s direction. It was too nice a day to begin indoors and she was a creature of the sun, might as well bask in it while she could. Deciding to make herself at home next to a large oak tree she slipped off her jean jacket and used it to protect her dress from the ground. Sitting cross legged, her back to the tree’s trunk Elinor had a perfect vantage point to watch the comings and goings of the cafeteria.

Finishing her apple she tossed the core away and began to peel her orange, her fingers already sticky. Already wondering if perhaps it wasn’t too early in the year to skip out on class?

Simon was already in his usual spot in the corner of the cafeteria, on days he had classes he was an early riser and spent the time before hand preparing. Just as he was doing now, nose stuck in his book, he would occasionally slide his hand through his dark hair to keep it out of his eyes. Reaching out for his tea he automatically brought it to his lips and grimaced at the tepid temperature it had fallen to. Nothing was worse than cold tea.

Closing his book with a snap, he rose to his feet and went in search of hot water, his tall, lanky figure cutting in between the others who were now arriving for breakfast. Finding what he was looking for he took his hot water refill and couple of extra tea bags to his lonely little table by the window and once again made himself a cup of tea. This time he left his book closed and instead took in the scene playing out before him while dipping his biscuit into his tea and taking small precise bites of the sweet cookie.

Although he wasn’t exactly what you’d call popular and in fact was quite shy he did like to people watch. For Simon he had the added bonus of being able to see their auras, the clashing colors and flashing brilliance was quite a sight but the son of Hades had to remember to keep it to a minimum or his nose would be bleeding like a faucet and he’d have a splitting headache. The visual made him grimace and he lowered his gaze to his tea, his long thin hands encircling the now warm tea cup.

Smiling a bit at his own childishness he sipped his tea and looked back towards the rest of the students milling about, wondering if perhaps there was a friendly face among them. Some friendlier than others. Simon had decided that was growing tired of life on the sidelines and as much as it pained him he was going to do his best to put himself out there to try new things along with meeting new people. The thought was terrifying but some things were necessary, like learning how to function socially without looking like a fool.

Waking up early in the mornings was never trouble for Maxiamus, maybe because his mother always made him get up at 5:00 A.M. everyday. Being in a cocoon of blankets it took him a few seconds to completely free himself with jerks and twists from the comfy trap, which undoubtedly landed him in the floor with a loud thud. "Ugh." softly whispering his word of pain to himself. Raising from the ground he rubbed his thigh, the place he had landed on, and slowly dragged himself into his bathroom. Everything was spotless like he had left it, like always. He knew where everything was, how he had ordered everything in order by name. Pulling one of the rolly drawers he pulled out a comb, tooth brush, tooth paste, and hair gel. Placing all the objects around the sink he began to work with his teeth. As he stroke back and forth on his pearly whites he mental sang the Happy Birthday song in his head twice, before spitting all the bubble gum flavor from his mouth and returning the tooth products from where he had gotten them. Moving on to his hair he combed out all the knots and straightened it out before gelling it into its normal swoop motion across his face. Staring at the mirror with satisfaction he smiled.

Putting all his things away he moved back into his room to get dressed; he already knew what he was going to wear that day. In front of his closet he stared at the rainbow of colors, due to the fact all his colors were coordinated by color. Reaching into the green section he got a pale green shirt with stripes of tan, sand, and darker hues of green; another detail to the shirt was dark green flowers that rested on top of thick tan stripes. Quietly pulling the shirt over his head, he then went a few shades down the spectrum to find a pair of skinny jean type khakis. Pulling off his sleeping pants he replaced them with the khakis, and smiled to himself from happiness that he was about to be able to leave his room. Reaching into the floorboard of his closet he slide out a pair of navy blue flip flops, which he put on easily, and then hidden in the corner he pulled out the books he would need for that day. Time to leave.

It didn't take him long to make his way to the cafeteria and when he got there he was so ready to eat. Going through the breakfast line he got a biscuit and a small container of apple juice. He wanted more, but didn't feel like getting it, and this way there would be more for the other students. When he got everything he was prepared to eat he looked over the tables to decide where he was going to seat and he felt like he had a lot of options, because everyone was his friend. Maxiamus had pretty much already decided what he was going to do the second he saw a lonely stranger sitting next to a window. Maneuvering around people, and almost dropping his food a few times, he finally made it and sat down next to his silent friend. When he sat down he gave Simon a warm smile, "So, how's your breakfast so far?" The question was small, but he knew his friend didn't talk to much and he didn't want to kill him with questions.

Rosalie Marie Smoak woke up feeling...

What's a good word to start the day off with? Rose's lips pursed in thought as she pulled her slightly oversized shirt over her leotard and sweatpants, allowing the material to hang off of her sloping right shoulder and giving a teasing glimpse of smooth, lightly-tanned skin and a leotard strap. Hmm.... A slow, devilish smile lifted the corners of her mouth.

Exuberant.

She felt exuberant.

Contrary to popular belief, being Dionysus' child didn't make it easier to deal with hangovers. Just because he was the God of wine and partying and good old-fashioned fun didn't do much of anything other than give all of them great appetites for fun, which definitely showed last night. Surprisingly enough, it was simply being hydrated. Rose hardly, if ever, had hangovers mainly because water was her main drink before and after indulging in shots. She was an athlete, after all, and a dancer to boot. She needed to remain hydrated, which definitely helped seeing how her first class of the day was Dance Appreciation.

Once she deemed her outfit cute enough to chill in (it wasn't like she needed to show off or anything), she proceeded to tie her hair up in a semi-high ponytail that leaned a little more to the right just to be creative and allowed the shorter ends of her hair - which fell to about maybe collarbone length - to frame her face. Just to be different, she added some personality glasses and coated her lips in a dark coat of magenta. It was different and matched her nail polish. Satisfied, Rose gave herself a nice little spritz of vanilla perfume, grabbed both her backpack and laptop bag, and walked out of her room.

Rose passed the Zeus dorm, wondering if her brother was awake. She shook her head. As much as she loved annoying him, she also understood that he would more than likely be ready to kill her if she tried. She'd call him once she was in the cafeteria. She shook her head at the grandeur of the dormitory.

"Show-offs," she sneered lightly and continued along the path towards the cafeteria, the scent of wonderfully-prepared breakfast wafting to her noes and leading her in the right direction. Once inside, Rose noted the a good number of students and smiled brightly. "Morning, guys!"

She took her time deciding what to eat, perusing through the lines and glancing at different things. Finally, she decided upon eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a banana muffin. She wasn't particularly picky about eating nor was she conscious about it. In all honesty, she was just going to work all of it off anyway. Rose fixed herself a mug of coffee just the way she liked it, two packets of vanilla creamery and a few pumps of caramel at the expresso bar. Satisfied with that and a glass of water, she gathered her tray and bags. Her eyes fell on one of her closest friends, Eddie, and she hurried over to his table.

"Wassup, love? Still hungover?"

"Some say that Olympus is one big party. I would discount this as exaggeration, but judging from the behavior of my kin, there is a rather large kernel of truth to it."

Cyrus woke up early this morning, unlike a few of his "cousins", though Cyrus would prefer not to think of them that way too much. After all, that term combined with the tendency of many of his peers to "hook up" along with his own attraction to multiple said female peers was liable to trigger the incest reflex, a survival mechanism meant to defend the human species from the many genetic diseases incest would trigger.

When he woke up, Cyrus decided to take a shower as the bathroom he shared with his siblings on his floor was empty at that time of day and proceeded to dress himself and pick up the case containing his laptop. It was a custom one his brother, Camden gave to him for his birthday. Its looked to be the work of a demigod. Perhaps a child of Hermes, Athena, or Hephaestus. He and the other children of Athena along with the children of Hermes had worked on a project where the computers on school grounds could network together in a way reminiscent to the internet but without the downside of attracting monsters as it was a closed network. Truthfully, Cyrus felt he contributed very little aside from the initial idea and the mathematics behind it. However, the network proved popular. If he remembered right, someone daughter of Aphrodite was working on a replica of Facebook. Children of Aphrodite could prove industrious if given the right motivation, he mused.

He stepped out of his room an headed down to the main floor, ignoring the many weapons and bookcases he passed as he did. However, on the main floor, he stopped in front of the statue of his mother. He looked at her. She was so regal-looking and ageless, as though she demanded proper respect. Her statue was a lot different than how she acted when he met her for the first time. The way she talked with his father was so natural, so human. He did not know how the memory made him feel so he stored it away.

He headed for the cafeteria and, deciding that he would rather manage his time more efficiently, ordered a blueberry smoothie mixed with nectar. Cyrus felt that fine food such as this, with nectar and fruit from Olympus, was one small way the gods showed their children that they cared, though in an indirect manner. Not to mention Hermes charged a pretty penny too.

He sat down at a table near the corner and booted up his laptop, taking a sip of his smoothie as he did so. Immediately, he opened up Total War: Shogun 2. Total War: Rome 2 had sadly been a disappointment. It was a pity. The first Rome had been far ahead of its time. He chose a multiplayer match and smiled when he saw the screenname of one of his siblings. He raised an eyebrow when they chose the Otomo faction. So they would be using firearms. He chose the Takeda.

What followed was a half hour match where two children of Athena utilized multiple tactics against each other. His opponents use of gunpowder units was masterful, but the Takeda horse archers had a clan bonus, not to mention a longer range. While his horse archers flanked his opponents units, they charged towards his army, but he sent them to retreat in the woods. Nonetheless, it wasn't an easy match. He was unable to avoid many casualties due to the gunpowder units, but, at last, he won.

He closed his laptop and finished off his smoothie. He eyed his surroundings, noting that several people had arrived during his game. He waved at each of his friends/acquaintances and pondered who he should talk to first. His mouth twitched at Alana's actions.

"She likes one twin, but dislikes the other. Twins are a package deal, though," he mused to himself.

Simon’s face brightened considerably and a smile flitted across his usually very stoic face. He was glad to see someone he knew, you’d think the number would be higher since he’d been here for six years but you’d be wrong. It was added bonus points that it was Max, someone whose good moods rubbed off on Simon literally due to Simon’s latent ability. Setting his tea back down on the table he brushed himself free of crumbs and folded his pale, slender hands together, resting them on the table top.

“It’s dreadful actually. I miss real tea, but I think I just have to get used to it again.” Simon explained with a grin and a grimace. He was one of the students that actually went back home during holidays and vacations, it was jarring going back and forth but if he didn’t his dad would get suspicious. The young Englishman always felt as though once he got use to one place it was time to pack up and leave again.

Glancing over at Max’s plate he raised his eyebrows a bit at the thin fare in front of Max and went back to stirring the rapidly cooling beverage in front of him. “Although it looks like your breakfast doesn’t seem like it’ll be much better. Are you excited about the first day of classes or are you dreading it like the rest of us?” Simon asked with a slight laugh, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down above the collar of his shirt.

The science major actually loved learning and devoured as much knowledge as he could get his hands on. It was the social aspect that usually took the shine off attending classes for Simon; he wasn’t gifted with a natural sense of ease around people although he’d been working at it for the past couple of years. Max had been one of the few that had actually gone out of their way to get know Simon, for what reason he couldn’t fathom but he wasn’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth.

It was easy to let time run away with you down at the lake. Amelia found herself idly standing at the end of the dock, her thoughts drifting from the approaching day of classes to the evenings game of Capture the Flag. Eventually, with a growl from her stomach, she snapped out of her daze. It was time for breakfast. Amelia turned and began the walk back to the main buildings. She couldn't help but take her time, enjoying the fresh air and the sound of the wind running through the trees that bordered the lake. Eventually she found herself facing the dorms again. She took a quick look at her watch and decided it would be best to grab her books and bag before heading to the cafeteria.

Amelia pushed open the heavy bronze doors and stepped into her dormitory. Inside the foyer the ceiling was a mixture of clear blue sky and dark grey clouds streaked with lightning. Zeus' statue was still attempting to strike down intruders with the fierce canoe paddle. Amelia gave the statue of her father a small smile before continuing on. She was both glad and frustrated at being greeted with his image every time she entered the dormitory. It reminded her both of the many times her father had been absent from her life and of the pride she felt in being his daughter. Yes, two very contradicting thoughts. It sometimes helped her first thought when she found him carrying some strange object. Not that she would admit as much to the trouble maker who had put it there.

Continuing up to her room Amelia quickly gathered the small collection of books she would need today. As it was the first day and her first class was Power Control, she actually only needed the books for her second period class, Chemistry. Tucking the books under her arm she quickly left her room and made her way back outside. She decided to take a short cut to the cafeteria instead of following the path around the dormitories. Her path led her through a small, well tended garden and around the back of the dorms. As Amelia came in sight of the cafeteria she noticed a small group of students a few steps away sitting under a tree. Amelia immediately recognised Ariel and, as if sensing the sudden animosity in the air, Ariel raised her head. The two made eye contact and before Amelia could leave, Ariel gave her an icy smile while her eyes quickly scanned Amelia's outfit, "You would think that the daughter of the Lord of the Sky would be able to afford better clothes." Ariel sneered, her words clear and easily carrying over to Amelia, "But perhaps she's too busy trying to befriend everyone and sticking her nose in everyone's business to worry about her clothes." .
Amelia was used to Ariel's barbed comments, but that still didn't stop the small flush of anger that appeared. "At least I don't have to resort to manipulation to make friends or to get what I want." Amelia replied. She glanced at the two sitting with Ariel, Elinor and Camden. She wasn't surprised to find either sitting with Ariel. None of them were people that Ameila particularly cared for. Before Ariel could respond Amelia took her leave, wanting to put as much distance between the daughter of Aphrodite and herself as possible.

Entering the cafeteria a moment later Amelia headed for the food, pushing her small interaction with Ariel to the back of her mind. She always hated her run ins with Ariel, mainly because she was never sure what emotions were truly hers and what had been manipulated by Ariel. Taking a deep breath Amelia let herself calm down. She picked out food for breakfast; yoghurt, muesli and bananas, and then turned to face the cafeteria. The first table to catch her eye was Eddie's. Seated around it were people that she was on fairly good terms with, although some of their actions were at times questionable. Amelia was a sociable person, but even she could tell that the table was too crowded already. So, she quickly shifted her attention and fell on a table with only two occupants.
"Hope you don't mind me joining you." Amelia said to Simon and Max as she slid into a seat beside the two, "Things look pretty intense over there." She added, glancing over at Eddie's table again. Alana was in the process of draping herself over Eddie, something that the boy didn't seem too upset about. Amelia spotted Cyrus sitting amongst the group and she smiled over at him, happy to see him in a group rather than by himself.

“It’s dreadful actually. I miss real tea, but I think I just have to get used to it again.” Raising an eyebrow he smiled to his reply, though he was not exactly sure what to say to it. Max wasn't really a tea drinker, more of soda drinker in his own opinion. "Is there a thing as fake tea? The only kind I ever really drink is Lipton." Though it was a joke it was still true, and with out a doubt made Max laugh. In Maxiamus' own way he was pretty goofy, laughing was something that he always found himself doing, even if nothing was funny. Getting tickled easily had to be his specialty. Sometimes he found it strange how he was so drawn to Simon, someone who didn't have much to say and was shy. Max had come to the conclusion that the theory of opposites attracting was absolutely true. He always tried his best to make his friend feel comfortable around him and make him laugh.

“Although it looks like your breakfast doesn't seem like it’ll be much better. Are you excited about the first day of classes or are you dreading it like the rest of us?” It took him a few seconds to register what he meant, looking down at his own plate he understood. Oh-" Cutting himself off abruptly he listened to the slight laughter of Simon, which certainly brought a huge smile to his own face. It made Max feel better about himself knowing that his friend was getting more comfortable being around him. "You have such a nice laugh," Max pointed this out before picking his fork up and cutting into his meal. "I'm so happy school is starting back, I just didn't want to get a lot of food." This time when he smiled he wrinkled his nose, in a rabbit like way, before taking a bite of his biscuit. Max wasn't the smartest by any means, but going to school and learning was always fun to him. "How do you feel about school though? Are you excited? Nervous? About to burst with excitement?" Simon bursting with excitement was another thought that caused him pleasure from laughter. Not that it would be funny to see his friend overjoyed, it'd just be something different. "Seeing you overjoyed isn't a bad thought though, it's actually quite pleasant. Seeing you smile and hearing your laugh always brightens my day."

Max cared about a lot of people and a lot of opinions, but some people just meant more to him; Simon's opinion was dear to him. They may have had their differences, but being able to make Simon smile gave Maxiamus a giant bust of of some sorts. "The best thing about school is that I love going to the class I'm majoring in, I mean dance is just my passion." Dancing was something he could do all day, it brought him so much joy to the point that talking about it just brought a subtle glow to his face. "I think you'd make a pretty good dancer, I men from your body structure and all-" "Hope you don't mind me joining you." Looking next to him he saw who the familiar voice was and smiled. "Of course not!" Amelia, another one of his better friends, a sweet and very smart girl. "Things look pretty intense over there." Looking to what she was referring to, but his attention spanned towards them didn't last long and he looked back to Amelia. "I hadn't even noticed, I was completely captivated by Simon." Simon was always one that Max could get lost into being around, they didn't even have to talk for Simon to get all of his attention, though he didn't even think his friend ever noticed such behavior.

"Morning," Gwen announced, softly, curled on top of her bed's covers. She peered through the curtains of the Hades dorm, at the sunlight struggling to pierce through the heavy, velveteen cloth, and lifted a hand to drag them back. The ghosts that tended to haunt her at sun-down had been particularly nasty last night, moaning stories of death by drowning, fire, murder, poison, and asking her for a second chance at life--as if she could actually give such a thing. She hadn't slept at all and their cold, barely-there fingers and her sleeplessness had left her with a dull, cold ache that seemed to emanate from deep within her bones, accompanying the more natural, throbbing ache of her muscles from her dancing at last night's party.

Gwen moved to stand, swinging one leg after the other off the bed. Her bare foot brushed momentarily against the smooth, icy marble floor, before encountering something sharp that pricked at her toe. She frowned and bent down to examine the pointy, metallic object. Her frown only deepened when she recognized it as an earring, delicately crafted out of fine gold wire and bent into the shape of a heart in order to frame and hold a similarly-shaped rose-colored gem. She sighed. It most likely belonged to one of the daughters of Aphrodite. Most of her fellow demigods knew not to leave stray bits of jewelry or metalwork out anymore, but it seemed that a certain daughter of Aphrodite had left her jewelry-box open this morning. A quick look under her bed revealed another gold earring, completing the set, and a fine layer of metallic dust that might've escaped from the academy's forge. Gwen had arrived at the Academy a week prior to the first day of class and, already, bits of metal close to the earth's surface had begun to crop up in the surrounding area, easily found by shifting thin layers of soil aside. The sons and daughters of Hephaestus were probably ecstatic.

Gwen set both earrings on her dresser table and entered the bathroom for a warm shower. After returning from it, she exchanged the simple dress she'd worn to last night's party for a white lace sweater and capris. She slipped the earrings into the pants' side-pocket, planning on returning them to their owner, retrieved her bag from the corner of the room, and stepped out into the hall of the Hades dorm.

The dorm was already completely vacant: her half-siblings all seemed to be early risers, waking and slipping away at dusk. She felt a mixture of disappointment and relief at this. Some of her half-siblings were more than a little annoying, what with their constant attempts at provoking her, but others were rather comforting, offering her a sense of connection and quiet companionship. She stepped through the hallway quickly. The Hades dorm, unlike the other dorms, always seemed to give off an air of oppression to Gwen. The place was made out of cold, dark marble and filled with looming shadows and illusions of gems and bones and, while pranks were constantly played on the other dorms' statues, no one ever dared to take Hades's dident or Helm of Darkness. She skirted around her father's statue, throwing it a lingering, dark stare full of deep dislike and blame before exiting the dorm.

Possibly because of her fatigue, the walk to the cafeteria was longer than she remembered. Her limbs felt heavy and drowsy and she wondered if she could possibly forgo breakfast and simply get a cup of tea or coffee before going to find a nice place to nap instead. Spotting Ariel sitting with Camden and Elinor underneath a tree, Gwen made the unpleasant observation that the gold jewelry Ariel wore bore a heavy resemblance to the set of earrings in her pocket. Camden and Ariel were a well-matched duo, as far as Gwen could tell. Both were far too manipulative for her liking and she avoided both as often as possible. Her mouth formed a straight-lined grimace in distaste at her predicament, and, without much ceremony, she brought out the earrings and walked up to Ariel.

"Yours?" Gwen asked, arching an eyebrow in question.

“I’m British, remember? There’s not blood coursing through my veins. It’s tea with milk and sugar.” Simon explained ruefully, his small smile remaining in place. Being near Max and subsequently his aura had the benefit of inducing a warm, pleasant feeling for Simon. Of course Simon did his best to not read too much into the aura’s of the people close to him. The young Englishman thought it to be rude and intrusive although at times it couldn’t be avoided.

“School is school I suppose. It’s what I’m good at, one of the only things I’m good at. Wouldn’t exactly call the sensation bursting with excitement. Although the visual seems likes it’d be intriguing.”Simon answered with a shrug, his pale face reddening slightly as he listened to the compliments thrown his way by Max. Simon might be shy but he wasn’t exactly inexperienced. He was very nearly positive that the dance major was flirting with him, most likely out of a sense of misguided kindness or a desire to get Simon to lighten up a bit. It never crossed Simon’s mind that Max would actually be attracted to someone as boring and staid as Simon thought himself to be.

Nodding along with the conversation to convey his interest he absently tucked a lock of his dark hair behind his ear and nearly choked on his tea when Max brought up the notion of Simon dancing. He didn’t dance, not couldn’t, didn’t. As in he has never. The slightly socially awkward boy was never outgoing and the idea of being brave enough to fling his body wildly around while people watched was terrifying.

“Do you see that chicken over there?”Simon asked in mock seriousness, pointing at the table which seemed to be most popular that morning. “It’s bloody Fred Astaire compared to me.” He exclaimed, his accent adding a rigid preciseness to his words. “Although I suppose you could get a good laugh out of it.” He ruminated thoughtfully as he noticed Amelia’s approach. Simon was quite fond of Amelia and considered her a friend, in a way his first friend. She was the first one to attempt to bring him out of his shell and it was slowly and surely working.

With a broad grin he nodded and waved her towards an empty seat. With a low chuckle at her words he spared another glance towards the livelier table. Simon had been watching the comings and goings, the students’ auras melting or clashing depending on their feelings for one another. It was quite beautiful and quite overwhelming. “Some might call it intense, others lunacy, but you have to admit they’re quite entertaining. They even have their own livestock, and which of us can say that?”

Eddie had to say that he appreciated Alana's way of dealing with a little *ahem* chicken shit. Instead of getting into a huff, she leaned down and changed from her spoiled shorts to a skirt. "Hey Eddie, don't you think my body looks great in this?" Alana asked, casting a flirty look towards Eddie. Eddie nodded, he wasn't about to deny that.
"Best legs in the school." He replied with a grin and a wink, enjoying the way that Lana was looking at him. He always enjoyed flirting with the Daughter of Aphrodite.
"So I feel we should do something naughty. I want to start this year with a boom. A hot, fun, naughty boom. And you two." Alana said. Eddie raised an eyebrow, wondering what she had in mind. His eyes followed the blonde and she got up and walked over to Eddie, draping her arms down his shoulders. No doubt about it, this was the life. Eddie felt a pleased smile appear on his face, no doubt he looked like some love struck teen, but that was the effect Alana usually had on people. "Or we could just have a hot fun party and save the naughty for a private party later." She breathed into her ear. untangling herself from Eddie, Alana then proceeded to hug Rose before ordering the Dionysus siblings to get to making a party.

It was as Eddie was opening his mouth to reply that Jason popped over, greeting the table as he gave Alana a box and warned her not to open it right then. It was a curious gift, but Eddie shrugged, surely people gave Alana gifts all the time. He once again prepared to reply to his friends when again Eddie's attention was drawn away from Alana, this time to Cyrus who had quietly sat down with the group, or at least Eddie had to assume so. He hadn't actually noticed Athena's son until Cyrus had spoken up. Then again he had a perfectly good excuse given that his attention had been held by Alana. "Alana... I know this is the way you are, but Jordan has a huge crush on you. You are in the position to break his heart in a million pieces. So, don't toy with him,"
Eddie glanced from Alana to Cyrus and then over towards the Apollo twins with a questioning glance. From Eddie's perspective his and Alana's flirting was rather innocent flirting. He had hardly been offended when Alana placed herself on Jordan's lap, but perhaps Jordan's feelings were more than his own. His own took more of a friendly inclination, although he never missed an opportunity to playfully flirt with her. It was as he was thinking these thoughts that Poppy spoke, reminding the table that classes would be starting soon. Eddie nodded, "Yeah, and unfortunately I promised Amelia that I'd attend class today." Eddie said, aiming his words at Alana, "Might have to postpone being naughty until after class." He added giving Alana a wink.

As Amelia sat at the table she was greeting with warm welcomes from Max and Simon. Simon grinning and indicating an empty seat.
"Of course not... I hadn't even noticed, I was completely captivated by Simon." Max replied, glancing momentarily at the louder group before back at Simon. Amelia hid a smile at his words and obvious affected for the other boy by taking a bite of food.
“Some might call it intense, others lunacy, but you have to admit they’re quite entertaining. They even have their own livestock, and which of us can say that?” Simon added, even chuckling as he glanced over to the other table.
"Undeniably the most entertaining thing I've seen this morning." Amelia agreed, raising an eyebrow as Alana's request for some 'naughty fun' drifted across the room. Amelia may have been on friendly terms with Alana (rather a surprise given Amelia's enmity with Alana's sister), but that didn't mean that she agreed with everything that the girl did or said. Of course, she doubted Eddie would mind Alana's forwardness or request for fun. Stifling a laugh Amelia turned her attention back to her own table.

"Are you both looking forward to classes?" She asked, knowing that both Max and Simon were in the university division of the Academy with her. "I think we have Power Control first." She added. Amelia rather enjoyed Power training. For one thing it took place at the training fields, which being outside were a lot more enjoyable to the indoor classrooms. She also liked that here the students were free to use their powers. While she might not be allowed to call up huge storms, she was allowed to create lightning without fear of being reprimanded for it. Besides, it would be a good warm up for when the played Capture the Flag later. Amelia glanced up at the large analogue clock that hung in the cafeteria, checking the time. Classes weren't far off starting, she should have time to finish eating and then she would make her way to the training zone.

It was only shortly after Ariel had joined Elinor under the tree that Camden joined them, greeting the two girls with a wave and smile, "Good morning Elinor, Ariel."
"Morning Cam." Ariel replied, gifting him with one of her more genuine smiles. It wasn't long after Cam's arrival that Amelia wondered past the group. Ariel couldn't help but make some comment about the girl, the two had been at each other's throats since Ariel's first week after all. Luckily, Ariel felt especially secure at the moment considering she was surrounded by friends who didn't have a particular fondness for Amelia either. “She says that as if it’s bad. Poor thing.” Elinor said, responding to Amelia's remark about manipulation, “All those pesky morals equate to a giant stick up her...Hey, Kyle.“ Ariel smirked at Elinor's agreement before nodding a greeting at Kyle. The two were on friendly terms, but Ariel knew that Kyle was someone easily manipulated so friendly only went so far as she could use him.
"She's just a bundle of joy in the morning," Camden added, his statement thick with sarcasm.

However not everyone seemed to agree with their sentiments. An unwelcome voice chimed in a moment later, "Perhaps because it is a bad thing." . Ariel frowned slightly as Leslie joined the small group, he was hardly her favourite person and in fact he only seemed to be on friendly terms with one of their party, Camden. Indeed, Camden was the only one he greeted or even acknowledged after his first sentence. "Good morning, Camden... Always surrounding yourself with these people."
Ariel's eyebrows shot up at that, "And yet you still take a seat with us, uninvited I might add." Ariel replied to the boy, even if Leslie's words weren't meant for her. She had to question him somewhat, why would he sit with them if he despised most of those there?

However Ariel was saved from having to consider Leslie for any longer by the sudden appearance of his half-sister. The quiet girl was holding out a pair of heavy gold earrings, "Yours?" . Ariel glanced from the earrings, which she immediately recognised as her own, to the girl holding them out for her. "Still can't control your power, can you?" Ariel said, her tone falsely sweet and caring. She even favoured Gwen with a small smile as she took her earrings back, "Or have you taken up thievery?" Her smile changed from friendly to a sneer and her voice took on a biting tone. Of course, Ariel knew of Gwen's powers and knew it had probably been them that dragged her earrings from her jewellery box, but that was hardly the point. Ariel usually either completely ignored Gwen, or simply cast judgemental looks at her. She rarely went out of her way to harass the girl, only now doing so because Gwen was there. Indeed, Ariel didn't even attempt to use her powers to intimidate Gwen, what was the point when Ariel simply didn't care?

"Just another morning at demigod academy."

Cyrus frowned slightly as Alana seemed to ignore his comment. At least Eddie had reacted, though he seemed more confused by it than anything. He couldn't guess what he was thinking, but he probably wouldn't refrain from flirting with Alana with Jordan in the room. At Poppy's mention of classes, he nodded in agreement. He would rather not be at the table should Alana open up the box Jason gave him.
Whatever it was, Cyrus did not imagine for a moment that it would be pleasant. If he had to guess, it was meant to be a message for Alana to stay away from his brother. Cyrus couldn't fault Jason with trying to protect his twin, though he wasn't sure if Alana would see it as anything other than Jason pranking her for no reason.

"Let's go... Perhaps we should go remind the others," Cyrus noted, watching as Amelia sat next to Simon and Max. He rather liked Simon. The son of Hades was an interesting person once one got to know him and Max seemed decent enough. However, he frowned when he caught sight of Ariel speaking with Gwen. Judging from her body language, Gwen didn't look to be enjoying the conversation.

"I hope you improved your powers over the summer, Rose," Cy stated, smiling slightly at his friend. She truly lit up whatever room she was in. Simon was lucky that he held her affections. He turned quickly, hoping Alana did not sense any remnants of his old crush on Rose. He did not need to deal with that. Particularly, he noted, when he noticed he had a small attraction towards many of his peers, which was quite silly and not something he needed anyone knowing.

He stood up and walked towards Gwen, giving Ariel a polite smile and nodding at his brother before turning to the Gwen, "Good morning, Gwen. I was just looking for you. I'd like your help in finding an old harddrive I need to bring into class today. As you may or may not know, it is partly made of silver like many other electronics so it should be quite easy for you."

It was an obvious lie, but it was an excuse for Gwen to leave the others. It was a pity Gwen did not have Power classes with him. Her powers would be fascinating to compare and contrast with Simon's.

“I’m British, remember? There’s not blood coursing through my veins. It’s tea with milk and sugar.” "Since I'm American does that mean coke and bacon run through mine?" Teasing him with a mocking tone, he nudged him playfully with his elbow. "If the tea here is so bad, then maybe you should pack some to bring with you before school starts." For Max there was a few things he always had to bring from home with him: his camera and drawing utensils. Photography was something he really liked to do from time to time, but he would usually draw in his free time. Some days Maxiamus would find himself sitting outside and drawing for hours of nothing but the scenario around him, which he always found incredibly peaceful, but being alone for long periods of time was never something he could enjoy.

"Are you both looking forward to classes? Hearing the question brought a warm fussy feeling to the son of Hephaestus. "I'm defiantly looking forward to classes, especially my majoring class." Beaming from the fact he knew he would get to be dancing for his majoring class was most likely noticeable. "And also," wrinkling his eyebrows he gave Simon an intense, "I was being serious about you dancing. I want to teach you regardless if you want to learn or not." The serious tension in his voice faded with in seconds and he began to chuckle, he still had meant everything he had said. His majoring class he found very simple, maybe because it really just consisted of a lot of different dancing techniques, and all he wondered was what kind of dancing they would be learning today.

"I think we have Power Control first." A dapper smile slithered away from his face. Using his abilities were always pleasant, but he knew after tat later in the day he would be forced to play Capture the Flag. Max was normally good a games like tag and catch, but capture the flag was a completely different story. When it came to fighting others to win a game he was undoubtedly going to lose and freeze up while playing. "Capture the Flag..." His voice droned off into a faded whine as he laid his face onto the table.

Time: 9.45am

Classes have started for the students.
The University students are currently in Power Control situated in the training courts.
The high school students are in either English or Maths class.

Image
Image

The class had started 15 minutes ago. The teacher, one Mr Frank Solomon, had first greeted the returning students warmly, obviously pleased to find the majority alive and relatively sane. His instructions had then been to enjoy the first day of classes. He had given them several options, each designed to help them get out of their holiday funk and get back into the swing of things. Set up at the further end of the training courts was a collection of targets and dummies, ranging in shapes and sizes. Some were stationary and some would move when in play. All offered a good place for students who wished to exercise control and train their precision with their powers. Closer to him, where he could watch and make sure that nobody went overboard, were the sparring areas. These were places where students could have mock fights against each other, using their powers to defeat their opponents. Of course, actually hurting anyone was against the rules, hence why Mr Solomon was hovering nearby. As usual for those not inclined to fighting, tables had been erected to the side to allow students, usually Athena and Hephaestus' children, to but their brains to the test. In between each area other students had come up with their own lesson plan, each stretching out their powers in their own way.

Amelia had been inclined to head down to the set up of dummies. There she, and the other students who had picked the moving targets, were busy decimating the Academy's population of stuffed targets. With a grin Amelia sent another sizzling bolt of lightning flying towards the dummy, reducing it to a smouldering heap of ash in seconds. Her hands were buzzing with miniature lightning bolts, the air around her seemed to be giving off a slightly static vibe and she couldn't help but smile. She sighted down the range again, threw her hands up in front of her and sent a flurry of lightning bolts flying towards a target set up halfway down the range. It exploded in an eruption of smoke and Amelia turned her attention to the next target. This one popped out of the ground on her left side, moving forward on it's mechanism. It was shaped like a mythical hall hound and ran low to the ground. Even so it didn't stand a chance as Amelia sent another bolt of lightning flying at it.

She took a step back from the moving targets, both to let her peers have a go and to catch her breath. Power control was undoubtedly one of Amelia's favourite classes. Where else was she able to use her gift without the fear of hurting another person? After all, lightning wasn't exactly the most pleasant thing to be hit with. She loved the feeling of it's power racing through her and had to resist going overboard. As she caught her breath, Amelia glanced around the courts. She spotted Eddie lounging on the sidelines and couldn't help but shake her head. She knew that his powers weren't really the active, fighting type. They were dangerous in their own way, or they could be if he trained them, but she understood his fear about losing control of them. Insanity wasn't something easy to control. But, he'd never learn how to if he simply sat and did nothing. With a shrug Amelia turned her attention back to the targets.

Ariel sat at the back of the Maths class, choosing to block out most of what Miss Francis, the teacher, was saying. Class was really not her thing. She would much rather be out socialising, or attending VIP events. Sitting here was not her idea of a good time. So instead of tuning into the lesson Ariel was staring at her nails, tapping each finger nail with her opposite hand and changing the colour with her powers. She had always been glad that her power over make-up extended to her nails. It meant that she always had the perfect nail colour and didn't have to spend money on the actual polish, not that money had ever been a problem for her. Ariel had just settled on a pastel green for one hand when she was jolted from her thoughts.

"Miss Lee, are you paying attention?" The teacher, Miss Francis asked across the silent room. Ariel glanced up from her hands to find Miss Francis staring at her, her arms folded across her chest and her own unpainted nails tapping quietly against her opposite arm. Ariel felt no fear towards the teacher. How could she when the woman was wearing a hideous floral dress matched with a pair of last seasons sandals? "No Miss. I was doing my nails." Ariel replied, smiling serenely at the woman. Miss Francis stared at Ariel, not quite sure how to react to the girl. It was obvious that she had never had Ariel as a student, or she would have let the comment go. As it was Miss Francis was willing to give Ariel a chance. She cleared her throat and pointed to a particular problem on the board, "Please Miss Lee, what is the answer to this problem?" Ariel cast a lazy look at the board. There was no way she could answer that. So instead she called on her favourite weapon, her powers. Subtly was the answer and Ariel had mastered that long ago. It was slightly harder at the Academy given that here powers were common place, but that didn't make it impossible. "I don't know Miss." Ariel replied clearly, giving Miss Francis her best smile. Then, with a mental push she thrust a collection of emotions at Miss Francis. Miss Francis, about to frown at Ariel and no doubt tell her off, suddenly paused. Her face took on a content expression as she turned her gaze from the question to Ariel. Miss Francis gave Ariel a kind smile and shook her head. "Well then. That's alright. We'll move along." She said before rubbing the problem off and turning to the next one.

Ariel rolled her eyes at Miss Francis' back. She hadn't been much of a challenge. It had only taken a small amount of happiness, contentment and acceptance to make her change her tune. Really, Ariel would never be able to grow her power if she was forced to solely manipulate people as weak minded as Miss Francis. However, she had another year before she could legally leave the Academy, so it would be another year until she was able to step out into the world and put her considerable talents to good use.

Breakfast had seemed so strange. The vast array of personalities even made Elinor feel a bit uncomfortable and she was the sort who thrived on that sort of thing. Maybe she was just feeling restless. The normally adventurous girl had been laying low the past few months, canoe paddle notwithstanding. After the heinous prank of last year, Elinor had been warned to be on her best behavior. Something she had abided by for the most part but all work and no play made Ellie a dull girl.

So in response Elinor once again lived up to expectations by not attending the first day of class. Sure, she’d get in trouble. A written warning would be delivered to her with threats of punishment if she stepped out of line again. That was all well and good and Elinor would heed the warnings…another day. For now there were plans to be made, things to do and people to see. Chief on her list, Rick.

She knew that he was in power control but considering his power she didn’t expect to find him locked in heated battle. Hopefully Elinor would have a chance to talk with her friend without being thwarted by other students or teachers. The demi-god with enhanced celerity had taken to speeding across campus until she came to the area that held the upper class-men practicing their power control.

Coming to a complete stop, she did her best to tame her hair and dress before sidling up next to Rick, doing her best to remain inconspicuous. Attempting to peek at his sketch she gave up and cleared her throat so as to announce her presence. “Hey there, stranger. Heard you were looking for me.” Elle said in a dramatic whisper, a mischievous glint in her green eyes. “What are you working on, or is it top secret, for your eyes only?” She asked a bit more seriously.

Simon wasn’t always keen on power control class and usually spent most of it alone. Most people didn’t want to spar with someone whose power was controlling the creatures in the shadows or able to read their well-being through their aura. Thankfully they were both thing that didn’t require an actual partner.

Lifting his pants legs as he sat on the ground cross legged he attempted to relax and gain focus. Simon was going to try and read the rest of the classes’ auras but he’d have to clear his mind of any distraction if he wanted to really have a go at it. Of course his mind kept going over breakfast and more specifically the conversation with Max. Simon was very nearly sure that the younger boy had been flirting with him and not just as an act of kindness.

It wasn’t as though Simon was a complete novice; he’d been in relatively few relationships with both of the sexes and found himself equally comfortable with both. He tried to imagine himself being in a relationship with Max and blushed at the ease at which it happened, his gaze unconsciously seeking the other boy out. Shaking his head slightly as if to clear his head he closed his eyes and steadied his breathing.

He would just start with his shadow manipulation instead. From his spot below the bleachers he slowly began to allow the darkness to grow and thicken spreading outward from beneath the bleachers. To anyone else it looked as though there were a pulsating, rippling sphere of darkness obliterating the corner of the training courts. For Simon it seemed no different visually, having perfect vision in the dark was an added bonus and it also allowed him to see the strange creatures that inhabited the darkness.

Ghoulish spirits, ethereal specters and shadow animals came and went, attempting to communicate if he allowed it. They could sense power, the bit of him that was marked by Hades and they obeyed him as if he were his father. Today he let them pass without a word and instead slowly rolled back the darkness allowing light back in. He just didn’t have it in him to have a conversation with a modern day cenobite.

"Good fight. The sort that merits keeping your head in it."

Lex can't help but smirk lightly at Poppy's comment. He raises his head, his eyes adjusting to the position of her face. "Bet I'd still have trouble taking you on though, huh?", Lex responds quietly. He glances to her project as she carefully places the parts into tupperware. He was about to inquire as to what it was, and furthermore, how long she had been in class. Lex finds it hard to believe he would've missed a face like Poppy's, even with all the other students in Power Control. However, his question faltered as he looked around at Rick, Poppy's half brother. He seemed to be drawing something Lex couldn't see. He wasn't sure if Rick hadn't noticed him or was just ignoring him; either way, he was grateful he didn't have to listen to any of his smart comments. He narrowed his eyes as he followed Rick's gaze, which seemed to lead straight to Amelia whom had taken a break from her practice to speak to Cyrus, a son of Athena.

Lex knew of Cyrus and had some respect for him, being as he is naturally adapt with warfare, a trait to be expected being the offspring of the goddess of Wisdom. A sudden random thought ran through his mind, the idea of testing their abilities against each other. Lex eyed Cyrus over for a moment before coming to the conclusion that it might be better if the pair were on a team in battle rather than opponents. Thinking of fighting made Lex look back toward Mark, who was hobbling over to a group of students across the way. Again, he looked back to Amelia and Cyrus, this time observing the girl. He knew that she was naturally a leader, as she showed this when interacting with other students, usually taking charge when others were hesitant.

Turning back to face Poppy, yet another figure caught his eye and stopped him. A young man sitting isolated on the far end of the clearing seemed to be a state of meditation, though as Lex could tell, it wasn't meditation, but Simon Chancellor doing what it is that a child of Hades does. A dark aura was being emitted, surrounding Simon, so even after Lex and Poppy were done speaking, he thought it'd be better if he didn't disturb him. Lex looked down at the dirt for a moment, lost in thought before blinking and turning back to Poppy, folding his arms. He glanced once more at Rick before speaking to Poppy again, offering a weak smile.

"So how are ya', doll?"

Kyle was standing off to the side watching all the young demigods practice their Powers. It was Power and Control class, after all. Kyle wasn't too keen on this class. He didn't have the crazy powers that needed control. If anything he needed a "better attitude" class. Most of his ill use of powers came from an outburst. Watching the others, he felt a sort out envy wash over him. He had the ability to poison people and grow plants at will, but he didn't really classify that as a cool power.

Kyle was also never one to crave attention so he sat back in the shadows. He was an observer, not a doer. Kyle glanced around the room and saw Simon sitting on the floor, surrounded by a dark Aura. Simon was one of the only persons in the group he didn't absolutely despise. Don't get him wrong, Kyle didn't dislike everyone, but he only liked the company of a select few. Kyle studied him because, well there was nothing better to do. He seemed to be in a trance. He wondered if Simon was actually aware of what was going on or if it was a tunnel vision, where all he could focus on was his magic.

Kyle crept towards the bleachers where Simon sat and leaned against one of the supports. "Ooo this is some creepy dark magic." Kyle grinned, walking around. He sat down on the ground across of Simon, just watching him. He figured this might be creepy but he was fascinated with that he was doing.

Alaska sat in the third row of English class. English was her favourite class but she found it was hard to keep her eyes open today. She didn't have a lot of sleep and today's lecture on grammar was particularly boring. Alaska allowed herself to lean back in her chair and quietly yawn. The birds were singing outside and she longed to get some fresh air. Alaska already knew everything the teacher was talking about so she found it pointless to listen. She sat back up, sitting straight and glanced around.

Alaska scanned the classroom and found her eyes resting on Jordan Brooks. He was just 1 of the Brooks Twins but Alaska always found herself fascinated by him. He was adorable in that stupid way. She watched as he adjusted the bow under his desk so it didn't bother him. Only he would bring a full on bow into class. But then again that is something she might do but she'd be more reluctant to do that. Alaska glanced down at the notebook on her desk. She used it to write down her feelings and poetry. It was brand new for this school year but she already had a couple entries.

Alaska flipped the page to a new entry and started to write. She wasn't even conscious of what she was writing until it was there in front of her. She stared at the page and then she furiously scribbled over the entry, closing the notebook rather loudly. She looked up to make sure no one was staring at her for the scene she just caused. Alaska sighed and held her head in her hands.
