Personality:
In order to not be made fun of by others for her un-confident, optimistic and childish personality, Ayame acts like a "real" princess. She is always serious about everything when in front of people and never shows her true feelings, almost. Ayame's family and village have seen the real her, but sometimes her sisters would get embarrassed in public or the townspeople wouldn't take her seriously. So one day, she just changed and began acting differently. Some questioned her sudden change but didn't ask about it. Ayame is stubborn and determined, sometimes to the point where it's actually kind of annoying. She always feels the need to help people dear to her, even if they are far stronger than her. She always tries keeping her feelings to herself, but she's pretty easy to read. Ayame tends to accidentally get herself into stupid situations by risking herself, without even being aware most of the time. Ayame is bad at all things royal women should be good at, even women in general. She can't dance, cook, clean without making something dirtier, wear decent makeup, you name it. These bad qualities even pushed some princes away, which surprisingly took a big hit to Ayame's confidence. This is also another reason why she started acting more serious.

History:
Growing up, Ayame's father wanted her to be quite sheltered, being a princess and all. Although she was the youngest of her sisters, her father still showed more attention to them, especially the oldest. Ayame was never going to be the next queen, as she had 3 sisters in front of her who were much more suited. Unless all of them were to die, she didn't have much of a chance. Of course, Ayame didn't want her sisters to die and she didn't even want to be queen, so it all worked out. However, there was one thing she truly wanted. Her fathers' love and respect. It was almost as if for the first years of her life, she was babied by her mother. Her eldest sister was always busy and didn't have time for her younger siblings. Well, more like she wasn't allowed to have time for them.
Ayame's father was a very strict man. It was almost like he cared the least for Ayame, simply because she was the youngest and she wouldn't become queen one day. His favorite went from oldest to youngest, so he naturally spent the most time with the eldest, Kiyoko, who was 10 years older than Ayame. She got the most attention from her father, but the least attention from her mother, simply because she wasn't allowed to see her often. The second eldest sister was also training to be the queen, just in case something went wrong with Kiyoko. However, Ayame's father wasn't particularly fond of her because of her disobedience, manners and laziness. She's 7 years older than Ayame and her name is Sakura. She turned out to be kind of a lazy drunk, but she cares a lot for Ayame. Finally, the second youngest, Yuki, is kind of a bitch. She's 3 years older than Ayame, yet she has always picked on her and was expected to be treated like a perfect little princess by everyone. She's bossy, rude and whenever a prince would get freaked out by how un-womanly Ayame was, she'd seduce them only to make Ayame feel worse about herself. She was a big part of how un-confident Ayame can be.
Anyways, Ayame always had time to spare with her mother, so it was pretty much her mother that took care of Ayame and Yuki all the time and sometimes Sakura would join them. She taught them how to be proper princesses, but Ayame just wasn't as good as Yuki. Yuki always did everything better than Ayame and then she'd just rub it in. Fortunately, her mother was there to defend her. Unfortunately, that changed at year 7 for Ayame when a poisonous demon attacked their village. Only Kiyoko had knowledge on how to fight, so this would be a good test for her. Their mother did not like that idea.
