Petra didn't only inherit her father's silver-grey locks, but also his impressive mutant abilities. She possesses the power of superhuman speed, and can travel on foot at speeds exceeding the speed of sound for hundreds of miles before tiring; she can also "fly" for short distances by flapping her arms (although she admits this looks kind of ridiculous) or by vibrating her legs; she can also use her speed to create small cyclones, dodge machine gun and laser fire, and run up walls and across water; finally, she can create heat or shatter certain materials using extremely accelerated vibration.
Petra is, in many ways, just like her father. They are both silver-haired snarks with a rebellious disregard for authority, constantly walking the line of lawful and chaotic. She and he are both free-spirits, always chasing the wind, both literally and figuratively. And, of course, they both find infinite joy in having the last laugh.
Snarky and clever, Petra's acuity is as fast as her feet, and she'll rarely let an argument end without herself positioned neatly on top. She is bold and confident in all manners of the word, and has a charmingly addictive way of speaking, her Sokovian accent combined with her charisma oft proving itself irresistible. The arrogance that sometimes leaks through her lips is more impish than pompous, and she loves nothing more than to dance with people's insecurities, and bring those around her into her world; a world of laughter and adventure and thrills. A fast world, more suited to her own pace, which is, suffice to say, rather quick.
Her snarky ways walk hand in hand with her typical teasing, and she can just as easily poke harmlessly as she can deliver pride-crushing blows. Frankly, it really depends on her mood, and exactly how liked someone is by her. She is hardly the sort to keep her opinions to herself for the sake of looking like a more pleasant person to be around, and thus will make her thoughts clear come every opportunity. She has tact, but she prefers honesty over white lies, and such becomes clear not long after being in her presence.
Freedom-loving and strong-willed, Petra has no fondness for authority. Nothing irks her more than the feeling of being bound down, and doesn't place trust easily, particularly in figures wielding such power. This could very well be due to her father's tales of HYDRA and the like, resulting in her not being all too fond of shady governments, SHIELD included. It isn't rare for her to break rules purely for the adrenaline rush, and her wit can sometimes turn sardonic in her bad moods. It is these moments when her impatience is shown. For she is trapped somewhere so damn slow, and truth be told, it aggravates her to no end.
Wild and eccentric, Petra likes to have fun. She loves parties, not for the booze or the sex or the music (although she is certainly fond of all those things), but for the atmosphere. For someone that can at times be egotistical, Petra is remarkably influenced by others. It is the atmosphere of such celebrations that adds to her spark, turning her from matchstick flame to blazing inferno with nothing more than a feelgood air. She is cheeky and mischievous, courageous and flirtatious, and she sees every day as an opportunity, as cheesy as that may sound.
Petra is a very warm person. Despite her own personal inhibitions when it comes to forming stronger relationships, she is fiercely loyal to the ones that really matter. She may seem the opposite in her drifting ways, but truth be told, once a strong enough bond is in place, Petra would go to the ends of the earth, superpowers or no. Although she is certainly endowed with a somewhat strong regard for self-preservation, she has values that keep her from turning away from someone in need. She is compassionate and considerate, and, despite denial from Petra herself, has the potential to be a pretty damn good 'hero'.
there really isn't much to Petra's story. Her mother and father were not fated, meant-to-be, or destined for one another. They simply met, liked one another, laughed, kissed, had sex a couple times. There was no romantic saga, no evil parent-in-laws fighting for their separation. No love triangles, squares, or oblongs. They weren't even in love.
Adal and Pietro met during one of the mutants many world journeys. They were feisty, witty, confident people, and they mutual attraction led to a number of dates. Neither party intended to stay for long, as neither was fond of marital commitment or anything along those lines. So they parted ways and Pietro went back to adventuring and Adal went back to barmaiding and every now and then Pietro would come back and the pair would -for lack of a better term - shack it up.
It was two years after their first meeting that Adal fell pregnant, and after long deliberation, she decided to keep the child. It was an easy decision for her, for where she lacked any desire for long-term romance, she had a maternal desire and a longing for a child. Went Pietro learned of Adal's pregancy eight months later, he was shocked, then horrified, then oddly joyful. He wasn't sure he wanted to be a father, but the idea of having a child was strange in its loveliness. So he stayed with Adal during the end of her pregancy, and came with her to the hospital the day she went into labour.
Unfortunately, an unforsee-able problem during Petra's birth resulted in Adal passing away, and Pietro was left with a tiny, newborn creature with silver strands across her scalp. He chose to keep the child, naming her after the Inn in which he met Adal, Petra's Bed and Breakfast. He raised the girl unintentionally in his own spitting image, and when she revealed her abilities at six years old, he found it more hilarious than anything else.
And now here she is, attending an academy chock-a-block full of people as supposedly 'unnatural' as her.
Sure, she has her complaints, but she kind of likes it around here.
