Zenith Elkhorn

I am psuedo-Perfect.

0 · 90 views · located in United Haven

a character in “The Deviants”, as played by NewKidOnTheBlock

Description

Name: Zenith "Z" Elkhorn

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Deviation: Albino, high metabolism, hypermobility [rare case]

Personality: Hard and forcibly cold upon first examination. But this is to hide away the fear, the self-conscious thoughts, the pain. He is afraid to be himself around others, fearing their dispproval. If he were to be himself, he would be a kind and friendly soul, most aptly described as a "gentleman". He is very protective of those who become close to him, due to past experiences.

Appearance: Zenith is an albino, meaning he has ghost-pale skin, white hair to match, and blood-red eyes. Due to his high metabolism, he is quite slim, although he is only just above average height. However, this is all hidden by hair dye, a skin-coloring solution, and brown-irised contacts. While he hides in the common clothes of accepted corporate, his favorite things to wear are always sharp, nice, and have a personal flair to them.

So begins...

Zenith did not go as easily as the Government may have hoped. His body consumed the drug they gave him at triple the speed of a Perfect, he waking up halfway through the bumpy river ride. He put up a good fight, but it did not take long for the Enforcers to subdue him once again; however, brute force kept him contained rather than drugs. Which meant that he was dragged out into the compound of Alcatraz kicking and squirming, shouting obscenities to the Enforcers. It also meant he was still handcuffed, unlike the other Deviants Zenith saw, his face shoved down into the dirt as he was thrown next to a woman with long, flowing orange hair.

Zenith swore several times over as he rolled onto his back, attempting to sit up with much difficulty. He had been forcibly showered, and therefore looked the part he was accused--his ghost-pale skin, soft hair just as white, red eyes flaring with anger. "Who's the monsters here? Perfects; who go against nature? Or Deviants, who show what nature is?" The Enforcers simply turned away without a word. Zenith managed to stand, screaming. "WHO'S THE MONSTER?!"

One Enforcer turned suddenly, smacking the lad across the mouth, sending him sprawled across the orange-haired woman's lap. "You are an Imperfect. Silence yourself, or we will silence you. Permanently." With that, the Enforcer turned again, the small block falling back into the building.

Zenith, dazed from the force of the hit, looked up to the woman upon whose lap he was sprawled. "Who's the monster...?"

Naoki quickly turns her head to spot a white haired man being slammed into the dirty floor beside her. Her sky blue eyes grow wide in surprise. She had seen many of the deviants around here, but he was so much..different...Strange...What would it feel like to be different even among deviants?...She could see the dirt cake his face as he struggled to sit up, some of the pale skin showing through as he grunted with pain. The words of the officer fade past her, but the screaming reply that he gave caused her to flinch in fear, cowering slightly away. Zenith's voice was so loud for such a scrawny, tall looking deviant. Having not expecting it, it had scared her quite a bit..

Her heart ached with worry for him, however, as he was smacked hard across the mouth. The sound let out a crack which echoed through the air, and she gasps as he lands, sprawled across her lap. Naoki's reaction was to catch Zenith in her arms, her heart leaping within her throat, as she stares down into his deep red eyes that shimmered from the lights above. They were filled with pain and confusion...A frown forms across her lips, her orange hair hanging over his face like a protective shield from the cruel world on the outside of it. "Surely it's not you. Your hair, eyes, and skin are quite beautiful, if I do say. You don't look like a monster to me..." Naoki pronounces, finally letting a warm smile slip out. It was a tough time, but she wanted to compliment him, before she forgot to. His pure white hair, red eyes, and pale skin may have seemed wrong to the "perfect" people, but to her, they seemed so unique. She loved them, and could stare at them all day...She also thought it might be used as comforting words, as well; something in which would make him feel at least a little better after what just occurred.

Naoki whips some blood away from his mouth, gently, with her slender fingers, and asks with worry, "Are you ok?...What is your name?..." Although the sight of the blood sends a cold shiver up her spine as she does so. Still, she held the smile. Her body ached and, in all actuality, Naoki simply wanted to curl into a ball and scream; cry like she has never cried before. But this was not the time...not in front of all of these...people...Besides, Naoki knew she would be useless to this man, who was hurt and confused, if she began to break down...

Still caught in the midst of his daze, he could have sworn he was within the confiding of an angel; beauteous in both physical appearance and voice. He could have sworn he didn't die...the Enforcer hadn't hit him that hard. The question he had asked was truly rhetorical, but the answer she gave him left him a tone better in spirits. As she wiped away the blood from his lip, he began to fall out of his daze, realizing his position as she asked her question. "...fine. I'm fine." He sat up, getting out of her lap to prove so, opting to sit across from her. While he admittedly was very comfortable in the Angel's lap, he knew that he was indeed fine, and therefore gave no reason for him to remain in the position reserved for a lover.

"My name is Zenith." He was not able to give a handshake, due to his cuffs, but gave a polite nod. "Zenith Elkhorn." He sighed, his face growing somewhat cold; the walls of his heart were being set back up. Nonetheless, he asked for her name in a polite tone, rather than the cold feeling that emulated from his body language. "Might I ask what your name is?"

After she had told him her name--or avoided doing so--he looked back to his cuffed hands. "You...may want to turn away." With that, he popped his shoulders from their sockets with a wince, then proceeded to bring his arms unnaturally to the front. Once he had his hands before himself, he used his foot to pull at the chain between the hands, the said extremities squishing unnaturally to slip out of the cuffs. He set his arms into their correct position, popping his shoulders back into place with a grunt of pain and a sigh of relief. "My apologies."

Naoki watches cautiously as he sits up from her lap, still slightly worried if he was truly okay. He didn't seem to be in a daze anymore, however, and had no injuries, so what he said must have been true. Her eyes examine the shiny silver handcuffs which decorated his wrists as a form of restraint, before parting her lips to speak, finally. "Nice to meet you, Zenith...I'm Naoki.." She replies, letting his name roll off her mind's tongue. It was a unique name for a unique person, indeed. Not once has she heard a name like that in her life. Well...what life she had, anyways. Naoki, at that moment, wasn't so sure being locked up in a house for her entire life, only knowing her family, and having no contact with anyone from the outside world, was actually a life...Still, it was a place in which she had been happy....

And surely, it was much better than this island here...Naoki brushes a lock of orange hair from her face, tears stinging at her eyes then. Would she ever get to leave here? Would her family ever see her again?...Would they keep them here on this island forever, or exterminate them when they got the chance?....Naoki wasn't even sure. The government did many strange things; some even inhuman things..."I just got here...I think...at least, I just woke up here, anyways..." She states, being that she was sure many of the deviants here had been here for a while already. Surely the hundreds that were around couldn't have been all in which they had captured in one day...Or could it?...

Giving a slight blink and sniffle, she stares at Zenith in confusion, wondering exactly what he planned to do...With a few pops of his bones, she suddenly realized, and her eyes grew wide in shock. Quickly turning her face, she wondered at that exact moment if doing that would be considered rude. Naoki didn't want him to assume she thought he was disgusting. It was...unnatural...but it did set him free, none-the-less. So, with another slight shiver, Naoki looks back towards him as he apologizes. "No, I am sorry...I shouldn't have revolted like that. It really isn't that bad...Besides, it is good you can do that. Otherwise, you might have been stuck in those for quite some time." She states with a shaky giggle, trying to be as positive as anyone could be at that moment. It was at then that Naoki realized he still had mud and dirt caked on his face. Reaching up hesitantly, she whips some of the dirt off. "So...how did they get you?..." She asks with a soft frown.

Zenith wore a similar frown, though his was not unlike carved granite, whereas hers was a soft one of innocence and hope. "I'm...not sure." He half-lied, not quite willing to tell the full truth; the other half he was quite unsure of. "Woke up one morning, and there they were. They caught on, I suppose. Maybe got to the guy I got my contacts and skin dye from. Nosey neighbors. I don't know."

He gave a sigh, which came out his nostrils, sounding a bit angry. But it was covering his worry; what would happen to his Grandparents? Would the distance he put between himself and them be enough not to raise suspicion? Or not? Would they be fined? Jailed? Executed? God...please spare them... He gave the silent prayer, but hid it by pinching the bridge of his nose, giving another exhale. He then looked up to Naoki.

"What about yourself, Naoki?" His tone seemed to soften, though only slightly, when he talked to her. He wasn't sure why...perhaps it was the innocence and sheltering, the kindness that emulated from her. Zenith guessed that it was just all a game, hiding away as he did, but he had no proof. "How did you get here? How did you get caught?"

His stomach gave an angry growl, having missed its usual breakfast and mid-morning snacks. With the volume of the roar, one may have believed a lion was attempting to tear its way out of his stomach. "...further, do you know if there's any place to get something to eat in this Godforsaken hellhole?"

Naoki thinks for a moment. His capture had been as much of a surprise as her's had been...She wasn't quite sure how they found her out, when Naoki had been so careful to hide herself in that prison called home..The nature which was around them now was, honostly, the furthest she had ever gotten to the outside world. The four walls of her house were all Naoki had ever known, and she could remember every crevice and crack..With a soft sigh, she closes her eyes, trying to calm her panicking heart.

"Well...I don't know how they found me out...I always did well in hiding within my house...so well, in fact, I don't think I even really know what the outside looked like, except for now...I only knew those walls, and my family...My little sister and parents..." Talking about them made a tinge of pain sting within her chest. It felt as if someone had slowly pushed a sharp object through her flesh, and began to twist in their sick pleasure of her pain. "I was eating dinner with them...and they just...they just started slamming against the door...I was scared...I hid in my small room under the stairs and waited, hoping it wasn't true; hoping they weren't there for me...But they were...They dragged me from my house, and hit me hard against the back of the head...When I awoke, I was here..." Naoki recites the past with ease, her voice seeming to strain with the force of her trying to keep it from shaking and showing her distress. It was at the end of her explanation that she finally opened her eyes.

Remembering the hard slam against the back of the head seemed to trigger something, for it was at that moment a small sting could be felt there. Reaching up, she let her fingers roam deep into her orange hair, which was somewhat redder in the back. She could feel the dry blood, and putting pressure on the spot sent a shock of intense pain through her head, so she refrained from doing so...Ignoring the fact, Naoki jumps slightly at the large growl from Zenith's stomach. It sounded as if it would start eating itself; vicious. She couldn't help but giggle slightly at this. Stomach growls always sounded so funny. Glancing around, she can only spot a few trees with coconuts hanging from them. "Well...we could try to get coconuts...Maybe fish, if we make our own pole from the nature around us..."

Zenith gave a slight frown in thought. "Hm. I was hoping for something more immediately gratifying." He gave a seemingly uncaring shrug. "Well, calories are calories, I suppose. Better than self-cannibalization." It was difficult to tell if there was sarcasm in the tone of voice or not.

With that, he gave a stand, offering a hand to help her up. "Come, you should have something yourself. Whether you are hungry or not, I have the feeling that every scrap of nuitrents and every drop of water will be the only thing keeping one from the fine line between death and life." After helping her up, he led her toward one of the trees, coconuts hanging from the top. He noted that they were almost ripe--not enough to be able to fall off, but enough to the point they would be edible. But he would have to climb. "These calories are certainly not going to even out the effort given..."

Before he went to climb the tree, a thought struck him. "We both...don't know what happened." His eyes revealed the gears cranking away in his head. "We were both found in our hidden ways, stowed away perfectly...and yet we were found anyway." He went to say something, hesitated, then asked, "Is it possible we both were sold out by family members?"

Vivian and Pearlie just sat in silence. Not exactly much when one was mute. But it was just good to have company. After a while Pearlie noticed a completely white boy. His skin was unnaturally pale and he had snow hair. He was the strangest deviant she had ever seen.
"Look," she pointed at the boy, "Have you ever seen anything like him?"
Vivian just shook her head. The boy was very intriguing and he seemed to be talking to a girl with bright orange hair. All these differences where fascinating, Pearlie really couldn't help but stare at everyone, she was just so curious. Still looking at the albino boy she noticed how he helped the other girl up and they headed towards a palm tree. Interesting, she thought, I wonder what they're going to do? Next thing she knew he was climbing the tree attempting to get a coconut!
"Viv, look at that. He's trying to get a coconut! Doesn't he know that we'll probably get given food? Lets go talk to them."
She stood up and extended for hand for Vivian to take. Hesitantly she did. Walking over hand in hand the two girls arrived at the palm tree and looked up at the strange boy. Also there was the girl with orange hair.
"Hi. I'm Pearlie and this is Vivian. What is he doing?" Pearlie asked the girl while looking up at the boy. She waited for her to reply but just as she was talking two coconuts fell from above narrowly missing Vivian.
"HEY! Watch were your dropping those things!" she shouted up at albino.

Naoki grabs his hand without hesitation. Although it looked pale, and as if it might even be cold, it was actually quite the opposite. It was soft, and warm. She blinks, slowly following him to the tree, gazing up at the coconuts which hung from above. It would be a long climb; a difficult one...Would it be worth it? What if he fell and hurt himself?..She wasn't so sure medical help would be given here...She wasn't so sure of anything...Watching worriedly as he began to climb, she blinks in confusion as he pauses, turning his head to ask her a question...The most outrageous question in her life...

The sound of those words hitting her ears caused her heart to skip a beat; maybe even to have stopped for a few moment. Her body tensed, and it felt as if the world around her had froze. "T-that's impossible! My family...they..they would have never done that!" Naoki shouts up at him, after finally recollecting herself, but her own words were hesitant...They wouldn't have...would they?.. Naoki thinks to herself, almost unsure. They loved her, it seemed, and she loved them with all of her heart...Why would they ever have done something like that?...It had to be something else...It just had to be...She wouldn't allow herself to believe such a thing....

The thoughts were disrupted, luckily, by some girls who walked up. If they hadn't been, she may have broke down, suddenly finding Zenith's words might be true. Her sky blue eyes gaze at them in curiosity. Were they hoping to acquire some food as well?...It was at that moment that two large coconuts dropped heavily to the dirt floor, causing a puff of sand to waft into the air, and just barely missing one of them. The girl retorted angrily that Zenith should watch what he was doing, and Naoki just felt lucky that she didn't get hurt. "Um..Hey..Who are you guys?.." She asks, wondering, maybe, if they were able to make more friends, that there might be a possibility to work together and get off this island...

Vivian blinked once when the orange haired girl questioned them. She took her index finger and placed it in front of her lips, indicating her eternal silence. She looked up at the pale boy up in the tree, then back to the stranger girl. She pointed to herself, and drew her name in the air. Then, she gestured to the girl, silently asking her name.

Zenith heard a shout as he saw two others under the tree, the two coconuts he had dropped down narrowly missing one of the women. "My apologies," he stated back coldly, before dropping two more coconuts--this time being sure to drop them away from anyone. He looked around with his birds-eye view for a moment, then cursed. There was no feasible way that he would open that coconut. Any rocks of a decent size would have been removed in fear of them being used as bludgeons in the case of a riot. That, and with his stomach roaring once again, he did not wish to take much more time to find a better solution. He made his way down the tree, letting gravity take him halfway down, landing with a tuck-and-roll. Once on the ground, he took up one of the coconuts, ignoring the two newcomers for the moment. Perhaps it was rude, but so was speaking with a roaring stomach.

Setting the coconut on the ground at the base of the tree, he backed up a little, seeming to ready himself before giving a swift kick, which had been accompanied with a small grunt. A 'crack' followed after, the tell-tale sign that the coconut was giving way. A second kick brought it to its proverbial knees as it cracked a piece in the center, caving inwards to the flesh and milk inside. The Government should not have given him his hard-heeled boots...

Gathering the fruit, he now turned to his attention to the newcomers. He eyed them warily as he delicately tore the flesh of the coconut from the shell, appeasing his stomach with his slow pace of the sweet fruit. Both had brown hair, but one had blue eyes, and seemed almost emotionless. Quiet. Almost too quiet. The other seemed like a Perfect, to which grave a small snarl. She probably had it easy, but jealousy was not the only reason why he snarled. He knew for a damn fact that Deviants were often willing to sell out each other in return for favors, even in their last moments. Looking like a Perfect would gain you some higher-up bonus points. "Who are you two?"

Pearlie frowned. The young man who looked to be about 18 was very cold and very rude. Apart from his meaningless apology he had completely ignored them. Taking his coconuts he proceeds to kick them against the base of the tree. Evidently his boots are hardy things and crack the coconuts after a few kicks. Picking up one of the broken coconuts he proceeds to tear the flesh and greedily consume the fruit. While doing his eyes which are a menacing red -something that slightly scares and excites Pearlie - scan both the girls like he is trying to figure out which one poses more of a threat. He snarls at Pearlie and she is instantly taken aback. Already he seems to have taken a disliking towards her and she can't figure out why.

"Who are you two?" He spits out. On the defence Pearlie crosses her arms and stares him straight in the eye.
"The names Pearlie and this is Vivian she's a mute. Who are you two?"
She can't bear the thought of having this dominating male walking over her. Despite the fact of never really meeting people her own age she knew that how this boy was treating them was not the way to do it. Never has Pearlie had to stand up for herself but at this moment it felt right and with Vivian being mute and unable to express herself with words Pearlie had an intense need to protect her.

"Hmph." Zenith continues staring them down, deciding the pseudo-Perfect, 'Pearlie', is the bigger threat. "Vivian...Varience, Variety. Deviance in an obvious factor." He continues with his appeasement to his stomach. "Pearlie...Paragon, Ne Plus Ultra, Perfect. Deviance in an hidden factor." His distaste toward the woman, as it was made apparent, was in her near-Perfect look. He had little bone to pick with the other woman, learning she was mute. "I am Zenith. Zenith Elkhorn." He signed it out in Sign Language, unsure if the mute knew how to read lips.

Zenith; 'the highest point reached by a celestial or other object'. The name fit him well. Albino. Hypermobility. Hypermetabolism. All in one body. There had never been such rare factors thrown together such as he...and certainly gave him room to be seething at a woman barely above the status quo.

"Tell me, how did you two arrive here?" It was not very apparent, but Zenith had put himself between the woman and Naoki. It was not but he being a step in front of her, his eye watching Pearlie. "Did you run out of favors, 'Pearlie'?"

Pearlie was fuming.Who does this guy think he is? Gently she nudges Vivian behind her and squared herself towards this Zenith.
"Favours? Listen Jerkoff. I don't know who you think you are but I had never left my home before today. I had never met another living soul besides my parents today and I sure as hell didn't bribe anyone to keep me from being taken away. It's obvious you've got issues especially with the Perfect. But I'm not the one you should be angry with. I'm not perfect." She ploughed on like a steaming train. She couldn't get over how judgemental Zenith was being just because her only deviation was only slightly different from Perfect.
"And another thing. I get you are angry at the Perfects because they get to live for being born with the right genetics and you don't. But there is a difference. Have you ever thought of whether that persons soul is perfect? Are they kind? Do they do the right thing? Obviously no. Our parents changed because they had a deviant child and a love for a child is greater than disgust for difference. But even then I believe from the way you act you obviously had parents who didn't change. Most of the Perfects have warped souls. But we as deviants should have the courage to do the right thing. What does hatred do? What does anger and lust for revenge do? It just proves that you are just like them." She was breathing heavily and could see in Zenith's eyes that he wasn't impressed but she hoped on the inside that she had sparked something. Many times had she talked with her parents about the right and wrongs of this world. She took a deep breath ready to make her final statement. After this she planned on just leaving. She didn't particularly want to hear what he had to say. In reassurance she entwined her fingers with Vivian.
"I see it in your eyes that you hate me for being near Perfect. Don't you think that for my whole life I've been hated myself for not being Perfect but not having a deviation that really sets me apart? You don't even bother to get to know me and already you hate me just because I look nearly Perfect. That in its self says you are closer to being Perfect than I am." With that she turned on her heels and gently pulled Vivian after her because she couldn't bear being alone. Whether he called after her or not she didn't care, she had said her mind and that's all she had ever wanted to do.

He didn't call after Pearlie. Oh no.

He ran.

Not the, 'oh, I'm sorry, you were right' kinda run. The 'you've pushed the wrong button' run. The 'you've let the bull loose in the china shop' run. He grabbed her by the shoulder, whipping her around to face him.

"Don't you DARE speak of my parents like that!" His voice was that of an angry hiss, like a rupture in a pipe. "Don't you DARE call me a Perfect!" The walls he had put up had crumbled at that mention. "Does a Perfect do THIS?" He tore off his sleeve, revealing a pleathera of scars, no longer hidden by a skin dye. "Does a Perfect sacrifice his very BEING to learn about the corrupt system that surrounds him?" The entire time, his hands were shaking, aching in anger, seeking violence. "Does a Perfect live without a Father to be PROUD OF HIM?" Tears stung his eyes; the beast was out, and there was no stopping him now. His voice was now that of a roar, echoing across the compound:

"DOES A PERFECT WATCH AS HIS MOTHER IS MURDERED?"

His rage unleashed in a slap that never made contact, his other hand stopping it mere centimeters from her face.

He gave ragged breaths.

"...oh God..."

He fell to his knees, still struggling with his violence, tears all but halting as a glaze fell over his eyes and emotions.

"God."

His body went limp, his arms quitting their struggle.

"...I'm the monster..."

Same glaze on his face, he stood again, not looking at the woman that he had almost struck. "I..." He gave a shudder of regret. "I apologize..."

It was as sincere as he was going to get. This time, he left, making his way toward the fence cackling with electricity. He sat down but an arm's length away, seeming to listen to the hum as if it were words of God, beckoning him to welcome Death.

She could hear the pounding of feet behind her and in the seconds that she was about to turn his strong hands gripped her shoulders and twisted her violently around. Her grip on Vivian broke and she was faced with pure fury. He started yelling at her, his voice rising at each word.
"Don't you DARE speak of my parents like that! Don't you DARE call me a Perfect! Does a Perfect do THIS?" He tore off his sleeve, revealing a pleathera of scars, no longer hidden by a skin dye. "Does a Perfect sacrifice his very BEING to learn about the corrupt system that surrounds him? Does a Perfect live without a Father to be PROUD OF HIM?"
His hands were shaking, she could feel his grip getting tighter and tighter. Pain started to lace her shoulder and she winced. All she could do was stare into the eyes of this deeply wounded beast. Despite everything he was screaming at her she saw the tears that were beginning to form.

"DOES A PERFECT WATCH AS HIS MOTHER IS MURDERED?"

Before she could even blink his hand came up to strike her. She was too astonished to even flinch, her brain hadn't even registered the movement but there she found his hand inches from her face shaking uncontrollably. She knew her face was one of shock but it was his that was more heartbreaking. From the great fury that had taken control of his features to the sudden guilt and regret that morphed his face he seemed to break down. All that energy was expelled in that one moment that he caught himself about to do an act of violence. His breathing was ragged and harsh.

"...oh God..." It was barely audible but being so close to him she could hear it and with each breath he took her heart cracked just that little bit more. She knew he would never want sympathy or pity nor would she ever give him that but a feeling that she couldn't describe overwhelmed her. His hold on her weakened and as he dropped to his knees she heard him say,

"God."

On his knees his whole body like a limp doll, Pearlie was too overwhelmed to do anything but she strained her ears to hear him,

"...I'm the monster..."

Every part of her screamed to reach out to this broken soul and console him. To mend him and relieve him of all the pain he had ever experienced. But her limbs were like rock, unable to move.

Slowly he stood up again and without looking at her he turned but before he started walking away she heard him.

"I..." She could see his shoulders shudder and pictured that they carried a burden that far outweighed his years, "I apologize..."

Everything inside of her shattered like glass and melted in the burning hate that she had for the world that did this to this undeserving boy. He had started to walk away, heading straight towards the electric fence. Towards his death. Barely an arms length away he seemed to be getting crushed with the weight of the world as he sat down. It was in that moment that Pearlies body obeyed her. Her mouth was the first to react,

"NO!" She cried and swiftly her legs carried her to where he sat she saw that his arm was slowly rising. She prayed for every goodness that is left in this forsaken world that she would reach him in time. Her feet were pounding the ground, the quick beats matching the rhythm of her heart. There was no way she was letting this boy die. If it was the last thing she did she would make sure that he got out and found himself a life where he would no longer have to run or fear for being different.
Time seemed to slow as she reached him she dropped onto her knees and with the momentum slid to his side and forced him away from the crackling fence. She pushed him all the way over until she was on top of him, his arms pinned down by hers. She just stared at into his eyes. Both their breaths heavy and ragged.

"You don't deserve to die," she whispered her hair falling over them creating a barrier against the world, "you life is worth so much more."

Naoki watches as the coconuts, one by one, tumble towards the ground below with the help of gravity. She picks one from the bunch, rotating it between her hands to feel it's weight and to perhaps hear the milk move inside. It sent her stomach growling slightly, but she was unsure of how to open it...It was at that moment that Naoki realized Zenith's apparent rudeness towards the two girls which just arrived. She wasn't sure what to think of it...It wasn't something in which she had expected, being that he had not treated her in such a way. Would he eventually treat her like that too? She didn't like the idea...If he did, maybe she would just leave him alone..Maybe that was what he wanted at that moment; to be left alone....

So when he broke open his coconut, and began to dine on the white meat inside of it, she frowned slightly, wishing she could open hers as well. She wasn't strong enough to kick it open, that was for sure, and there wasn't any rocks big enough to break it open..."I'm Naoki..." She replies in question to the two girls, after they announce themselves, and Zenith announces himself to them. She was a bit late in the reply, but had been to busy thinking over options for her food. Naoki was so busy with thinking it over, that she hadn't even noticed that Zenith had stepped in front of her, seeming to separate her and the two girls.

With curiosity, Naoki begins to smack the coconut against the base of tree. But, without much surprise, it failed to even crack the fuzzy coconut. "Hm.." She mumbles to herself, dropping it to the sandy ground, and trying to kick it as well. This only resulted in her slipping and falling face first into the dirt. With a few coughs, Naoki stands back up with embarrassment, brushing the dirt from her clothes and hair. She gives a soft, nervous giggle. "Oops..."

But it seemed the others were to busy with each other to notice her embarrassing mistake, to her relief. It was at that moment, though, that rage seemed to break between them. Some yelled, and ran. Zenith ran after one of the girls, in anger, grabbing her and turning her to face him. His rough breathing indicated not only his anger, but how hard he had ran. Her sky blue eyes grow wide in shock, her body frozen; unsure of how to react to the situation which was at hand. Naoki then watched as he fell to his knees, the anger seeming to leave his body as if it was his spirit..."Z-zenith..." Was all she could mumble out, still slightly too afraid to move.

With hesitation, Naoki watches as he walks, seemingly empty, towards the electric fence. Her heart is racing, pain flowing through her body. She didn't want anyone to get hurt. Especially Zenith. There was something about him which gave her some sort of link back to home. He was understanding, and hurt just as she did. She was about to yell out to him; to try and get him to stop. It was apparent what he was going to do...But the other girl seemed to already reach him first. She was relieved, glad that he had been stopped, but also, still worried. She felt...useless...helpless...And the pain in her chest only seemed to grow...She had never realized how other Deviant hurt; some more than her...It had only ever just been her...As if she were the only one...But there were so many others; and some had hurt worse than her....At least she had gotten to be with her family...Zenith...his had fallen apart so quickly and so fast...

Leaving the coconut where it sat, buried within the sand, she decides to walk off. Naoki wanted to get away...Maybe find some water...They were on an island, after all...Maybe she could put her feet in the cool ocean and just let the worries wash away...That was what she needed...Pushing her way through the large crowds of Deviant, she disappears amongst the many different colors...

(Woa, I'm totally falling behind you guys x-x)

Zenith supposed that this was to be his end. He had already proven that he was no better than the Perfects. He had nearly struck a woman...something that compromised the entire integrity of his being as a gentleman. True, necessity made him hard, bitter, and cold; but he would rather die than to admit that he had failed as a gentleman of heart.

Before he could grasp the humming fence, though, a shout cut through the air, causing him to pause for a moment. It was only mere moments later that he was pummeled, she pulling him away from his death, assuring a dominant position above him so that his struggles would be in vain. She simply looked into his eyes for a while, before he heard her whisper:

"You don't deserve to die...your life is worth so much more."

His eyes met hers in a moment of confusion. Worth? He would hardly call his death anything effecting. But her eyes revealed a belief in what she said, his own emotion unsure of what to be. Muddled was the only appropriate term. He didn't really believe it himself, but it was enough to make him think and reconsider his actions, lulling him away from the want of death.

Being Human--whether Perfect or Deviant--there were certain things that caused the mind to wander. The position they were in certainly was one of them. He looked to his hands, which were held firmly to the ground, and then down; his intention had been to see how she had placed herself in so that his legs were firmly stuck as well, however, he caught an eyeful of cleavage instead. He instantly looked away as a small blush arose to his cheeks, a small line of blood running from his nose. "I...believe you can get up now."

His eyes that were dull and lifeless a moment ago seemed to get a gleam back into them. His idea of death hopefully had disappeared. While they were still the only sound their breathing Pearlie noticed that he was blushing and that a small trickle of blood ran down from his nose.
"I... believe you can get up now."
Embarrassed Pearlie sat up quickly and moved a small distance away.
"I'm sorry. I hope I didn't push you too hard. I just got scared." She was wringing her hands as she spoke, nervous of what he would say.
She looked away as he wiped the blood from his nose. As she looked around she saw how the orange hair girl was disappearing into the crowed, Vivian must have seen it too because she took off after her. Reluctant to let Vivian out of her sight Pearlie quickly stood up. She offered her hand to Zenith hoping that he would take it as a sign of apology and that they could be friends. They had to hurry though before Vivian and the orange haired girl whose name she thought she heard as Naoki got too far away.

Naoki's skin seems to almost leap off of her in fear, as a strange hand grabs her hard by the shoulder, and turns her to look at a girl. It took her a few moments for her eyes to register just who it was; wide and filled with fear. When she realized it was just Vivian, the gentle girl who simply couldn't sleep, and probably couldn't hurt a fly, she lets out a deep sigh. "U-uh, hey...What's wrong?..." Noaki asks, but realizing that she may not get an exact answer that she would understand. She had never really been around someone who could not speak, so it was hard for her to understand the gestures in which the girl made...

"I was just...Just going to find some water to put my feet in...We are on an island after all, right?...Nothing's wrong with me...Really.." She mumbles, her shaky voice proving her statement otherwise, but her face held a plastered smile which was obviously forced. She hadn't expected for anyone to follow her. It was a bit of a shock. She also hadn't expected that they would be able to find her, among the many other different colored hairs. There were many that were even orange like hers. Maybe she should have hidden amongst them better...She really just wanted to hide..."Is Zenith okay?...." Naoki finally asks after a long few moments of silence. Although she had seen the other girl stop him, it still worried her slightly...

Vivian nodded hesitantly in response to Naoki's question. In all honesty, she wasn't quite sure. Well, he had been saved from his suicidal outburst, but how long would his composure last? How long would any of their composure last? Upon close inspection, she could see that the girl was forcing her smile, and was clearly upset. Vivian suddenly realized how much of a disadvantage she was at. She was wondering how she would get her thoughts across. So far, only Zenith knew sign language. Back home, Milos was the only one she could really communicate with. Not even her parents understood most of the time. She sighed and looked about the large courtyard, peering over the heads of others. She really wanted to ask if they would allow Naoki to go so far as the shore, for whatever reason. But, this was one of those times she'd just have to deal. Muteness was a pain in the rear sometimes. Most times, actually. She wouldn't be spoken to sometimes by her parents because of her inability to speak and their inability to understand what she was communicating. But, she didn't like being talked to the majority of the time anyway. This time, though, she wished she could speak like everyone else. Instead, she shrugged and gestured forward, showing Naoki that she could keep going, and Vivian decided not to disturb her solitude, which she obviously wanted. Instead, she headed back to Pearlie and Zenith, who appeared to be getting along better.

Zenith waved away her concern, dabbing at his nose with his other sleeve as he sat up. "No, I am fine." He saw as she stood, looking in the same direction. He watched as Naoki ran off, followed shortly by the mute Vivian. "Christ..." He gave a sigh, realizing the folly of his thoughts. True, he had broken down into a monster. But that gave him no reason to leave these three. Though he didn't entirely trust any single one of them in completeness, he felt a strange bond with them that he didn't with the other Deviants. Perhaps it was their willingness to be friendly. Or perhaps because they four all had met on the first minute here. Or perhaps because he was a gentleman amongst ladies, and a gentleman's job is to sacrifice his own well-being for that of the ladies'.

Whatever the reason, Zenith now felt partially responsible for these women. And he intended to do right...eventually, he knew, he would grow to trust them. He might give them his full history then. Maybe make a history of his own with one of them...

Shaking away the blush that came with the last thought, he stood and accepted the hand in friendliness. He paused after their hands separated, a question in his mind. "...why were you scared for me?"

After recieving his answer, he watched as Vivian approached. Is Naoki alright? he signed to her.

Pearlie was relieved as Zenith took her hand and as they stood up he asked her a question,
"Well.. uh... I couldn't bear the thought of someone who looked so," she searched for the right word, "desolate throw their life away. I can understand why you were so angry with what I said."
She glanced nervously away before she continued,
"I didn't know. I'm sorry. I want to make it up to you and if you died it would have been my fault."
Thankfully Vivian approached and she saw him sign something at her. She was frustrated with herself that she couldn't understand what they were saying to each other. She had seen Vivian chase after the orange hair girl and wandered what had happened. She hoped that what had happened had scared her off. There was something about how Zenith had been protective of her that made Pearlie feel that all four of them were meant to stick together.

Naoki's heart flutters with relief as the mute nods to her, answering her question for Zenith. It was good to know he was well. It would allow her to leave with peace in mind that he would be okay...It was then that she realized it looked as if the girl desperately wanted to communicate something with her, but wasn't sure how. She stares, in confusion, for a short while, before Vivian finally shrugs and walks off. Blinking slightly, Naoki watches her back as she walks towards Zenith and Pearlie. She was actually a very nice girl...Cute too. Everyone here looked pretty; all the different colors, beautiful in their own way...She wondered if she was beautiful too...

Brushing the thought aside, her eyes cast towards the ground, as she walks off towards where the girl had pointed. Walking through the dirt and sand, sometimes tripping slightly over the sand which shifted easily under her feet, she did, eventually, reach the shore of a beach. There was a far off fence in the water which would keep any Deviant from thinking they could swim off. She didn't know how any could, however...There was no other land on the horizon...They would have to swim for days, and would probably just die out on sea...Yes, still, they tried prevent this from happening...Naoki wasn't sure whether to take this as a sign that they didn't want them dead, or simply as a ironic sign in which they had not spotted....

She watches silently as the white foam of the ocean laps up onto the sand, hearing the hiss of the waves in the distance...It was so relaxing...It calmed her quite a bit...Although there were so many other Deviants here, she still felt as if she didn't belong...Naoki wasn't exactly sure why; maybe because it was just something so...different...Slipping her shoes and socks off, she dips her toe into the ice cold water, a shiver running up her spine. Then, one at a time, she placed her feet in, walking up and down the shore through the water. It felt nice on her bare skin...And the screeches of the birds above her made her feel as if she were free..Although she knew she wasn't...

It was then that she spotted her reflection in the water which pushed up towards her feet, and then quickly pulled back...Her orange hair..Her sky blue eyes and pale skin...She was what the perfects considered a freak...She tried hard to see the beauty in herself, but couldn't...Each strand of her hair...Each part of her body felt horridly ugly...Even when she was with her family, Naoki tried hard to avoid contact with any mirrors....Tears sting at her eyes...How long would she be here? She had tried hard to push all these thoughts away, but it was just so sudden...Being forced here...away from her family...Would they be like this forever?...In the middle of no where?...But the real question which bugged her was...What kind of life was this? Did she even have a real life?...Would it be better if she never existed?...

Vivian furrowed her brows at Zenith's silent question, considering her answer. Then, she signed, A bit upset, I think. She pointed in the direction where she'd last seen the orange-haired girl heading. I think she wants to be alone, she added. After all, Vivan was pretty sure that's what she wanted. Vivian realized that her sign language was somewhat lacking, so she wasn't sure if Zenith had understood. The only reason she knew was because her brother had found an old book on it, almost burned to ashes. So, she hoped her signing was understandable, even though she had to make up her own signs sometimes.
