Nicknames:
Ray, Rose, Alba
Apparent Age:
15 years of age.
Physical Description
Raine is one of the Jointed dolls, and for all that she claims, she was one of the earliest dolls created. Her golden eyes flash in the light and are without pupils, and are made of glass. However, despite the fact that they seem to never focus, they grant her near perfect eyesight. The black hair that cascades down her back reaches a few inches above the small of her back. She prefers to keep it loose and keeps it glossy despite the difficulty in brushing it herself. She has a personal preference towards flowers, and can be seen with a lily or purple rose in her hands. When she moves, her movements are jerky, and even when still, she seems to be constantly stiff. Her speech is slow and sometimes disconnected, and her voice is slightly raspier than that of a normal human. She is of an average size with pale as porcelain features. While there are a few nicks that mark her upper arms and lower legs, she seems to be, otherwise, almost as good as new. True, Raine has changed clothing over the years, and is currently wearing a white dress in an older dress. However, this is the closest copy to the clothing she woke up in - and she takes it as proof that the Dollmaster loves the older dolls more. Her keyhole is lower down her back than most dolls, and is placed a couple of inches to the left from the small of her back. Itâs small and silver, although a few places have rusted over.
Key Description
Itâs easily one of the more ornate keys that exist amongst the dolls. With a butterfly-like design on the bow, and silver thread that coils around the entire silver blade of the key, it highlights the small red stones that decorate it. Even after all of these years, it is still shining and in great condition, as Raine treasures it. Its grooves are slightly worn from over the years, and itâs missing a single red stone. Many of the ornate loops are in the shape of hearts or spirals.
Personality
Raine has an almost abrasive personality. She never thinks about the feelings of others before she acts or speaks, and almost expects people to volunteer their own safety in order to protect her comfort. Quite obviously, she views herself as the most important being in the world, except for maybe her âfather.â Sheâs also âperfectâ and âinfallibleâ and carries around her voice the same way. As sheâs the âmost beautiful dollâ, and evidently, the one her âfatherâ spent the âmajorityâ of his love and effort. Those that came before her had their role in training the Dollmasterâs skill before creating her, and those that came afterwards, are the ones that were created as mock copies of herself.
So, she isnât afraid of pushing her own beliefs and agenda above those of everyone else. Raineâll very likely speak out quite loudly, although her slower and stunted speech makes expressing her thoughts far more difficult than it should be. But, even though her wording is awkward, it doesnât mean that her mind works any slower for it. Due to her longer lifespan, sheâs collected quite some facts about the area that she lives in. However, the furthest sheâs ever travelled from her home city has been to the key-keeperâs. Raine places a lot of emphasis on her own opinion, and without fail, will argue, disdain, and otherwise persuade others that her way is the way to go. Even if she finds out that she was wrong, per se, she will never admit it - even going to the extremes of arguing for its behalf.
However, Raine possesses the ability to be nice, but only when she feels as though you almost touch her high standards of perfection. This pretty much means that you are similar to her - well-off, a jointed doll, and make her feel as though âher eyes donât rebel for having to stare you in the face.â She can be passably nice to those people, even giving them a shadow of a smile when they speak to her, but she keeps herself apart from the ârabbleâ. She doesnât like filth, or being dirty. Period. Like a rose in bloom, Raine tends to be awfully fragile, and takes extreme care of her physical well-being. Every crack in her body is taken and fixed without a moment of hesitation. No scar can mar her skin. She would rather not do manual labor, and her life in her town reflects that.
Does she really have friends? Not amongst the humans, no, for they will die before her memory of their childhood fades. Even as an immortal amongst immortals, she has acquaintances, and not truly friends. She finds herself unable to share and give up her own desires for the sake of someone else. When approached by someone else, she is prone to disdain them - without hiding it in the slightest. Her speech can be caustic, cruel, and pushy, and in every syllable, there lies the intent to mold others into something that she can lord around like a servant. And if a servant is mouthy, then there is no choice but to punish it⊠However, should the âinferiorâ adopt the correct practice in life (following her completely) sheâll treat them more like favored subjects than anything else - and may even be slightly more kind. Pride in other people is a vice, but for her, itâs just something that comes along with the package.
Raine believes herself to be the Dollmasterâs favorite, and she will act and speak as such. Although sheâs never actually met her âfatherâ, she believes that she almost speaks for him in a way. Her doll-like features isnât just a vain mockery of the human form, but something to be prized. She views her ball joints, glass eyes, and other doll-like features to be an improvement on the appearance of humans - and prizes them greatly. In that regards, she has no respect of the Jointless dolls. They are merely mindless last-minute additions to the world of the dolls, and take very little room in the Dollmasterâs heart. The key is her greatest symbol of her doll-like appearance, and she prizes its beauty and form greatly - and therefore, will take very good care of it.
Her emotions very rarely show in her face, actions, and voice - other than anger. She rarely does smile from the heart, and usually, a small, elitist smirk is present on her face. However, sheâs more than willing to make her dissatisfaction known to everyone - sometimes going to the extent of breaking objects (the pricier, the better) and complaining. She doesnât observe her surroundings very well, because, truly, nothing really matters.
Skill(s)/Abilities
Raine possesses a drive that very many lack - almost always fighting to have her way in life. She also has a basic knowledge about the region, although sheâs never had to really use this information in practice. Therefore, she knows the basic direction of the three cities, and what itâs famous for, but very little outside of that. While not necessarily a skill or an ability, during her life time, she has managed to live in relative comfort - with a few belongings⊠mostly flowers, clothing, and decorations that may come in use. She thinks quickly from practice, and can easily think about what she wants to do next. Raine can sew extremely well, and has a natural sense for beauty and design - the clothing that she is currently wearing is of her own creation.

History
When she first opened her eyes, she was in the beautiful port town of Sagen. Only knowing that her 'father' loved her and her own name, she decided that this would be the world for her. She, being one of the first dolls in this settlement, was seen to be an oddity by those times - people not knowing what to think about a moving talking object. It wasnât the best of lives, when she looks back, as people brought their children to gawk at her. Raine took this to mean that she was superior to them, and took it in her stride. She was lucky that she was âbeautifulâ in their eyes, as it served as protection against much of the growing inhumanity towards the dolls.
Before, she was young, and she actually yearned for someone to talk to. Being almost a zoo exhibit, she one day met a girl who looked to be about her age, Allie Hart. But time passed over the decades, and eventually, her friend sickened and died. Before that, Raine had never personally thought about the idea of death, and it almost shocked. her. But Raine would not let that influence her own thoughts. She took her friendâs weakness and as a way of comfort, persuaded herself that it was meant to be. Humans were only but humans. They were temporary little - toys almost, who disappeared and appeared on the tide. Dolls were the ones that would carry on the mantle of civilization.
But as time went on, the number of dolls started to increase. As they came, she became simply a mere doll amongst the population. The memories of humans are fickle things, and with time, people started to forget exactly how old she was. She became almost a relic of the past, with the other dolls flaunting their âskinâ and human-like features. Her innate pride kicked in and transformed her into what she was today as she tries to hold on to the sense of superiority that Raine has always possessed.
In a way, she was extremely lucky. Lucky that she had ended up somewhere that was more open in its belief due to the port. And furthermore, she was lucky that the port opened her horizons and allowed herself to realize that there were other worlds out there. For the last century, she has been hoarding possessions - for the sole purpose of living in comfort. She has no real profession, but instead, sells off old belongings of hers to the traders at high prices, and if need be, she can sew and embroider beautiful designs.
