Lilly heard someone coming towards her. She was curious who it was, but didn't bother trying to figure out. She heard a familiar voice, followed by a hug. A hug! Lilly froze completely at the touch, then relaxed. ''Oh, hey Daniel,'' she said in a soft voice. ''Can you release me now?'' She wasn't that fond of hugs. It wasn't because of him, but because of her. Her fault, not his. She always blamed herself for everything bad.

Lilly sighed. She pushed him away and rubbed her arm nervously. ''Just... Sure.'' It was almost reluctant. She placed her hand on his face, starting at his cheeks, then his lips and up to his forehead and hair. Once she was done, she nodded quietly and looked away. She closed her eyes and continued rubbing her arm nervously.

Annie felt weird, somewhat equating her situation to that of the one she had had ever other time she had switched schools- she was yet again that awkward new kid. Almost strategically, she kept herself in the background, not drawing attention to herself in the slightest. It always worked, no one ever noticed her, and that was her goal.

Jackson got wide-eyed as Alice led him away, reluctant at first but eventually let her. Though what Mrs. Black said made him, well, have second-thoughts about saying what he had to Alice. There was no way that he would divulge his secret now though, his father would kill him if he knew how he really felt. About to open his mouth to decline the teachers assumption, he was stopped by Lilly, who suddenly shouted her own protests and seemed to be reaching out towards him when he turned around to look at her. "W-What is even going on?" He asked, putting both hands up and taking a step back from both girls and the teacher.

Lilly felt Daniel's hand on her shoulders but stepped away. She ignored them and looked at Jackson. ''Sorry,'' she whispered. ''I had thought...'' she swallowed, ''we'd be paired together.'' She looked down, submissive. She covered her head, as if she was expecting to be hit. She closed her eyes, even though she wouldn't see it coming, she still felt a little bit safer with her eyes closed might she be hit.

Nor Jackson or Annie made any move towards the front of the room. Annie did make herself known though, all four feet and nine inches of her, when she tripped over a chair leg in the back of the room and ended up sprawled across the floor in front of her. It wasn't particularly painful, and she wasn't hurt, but definitely embarrassed. Blushing bright, he pushed herself up and ran her hands over her jeans, making sure they hadn't gotten anything on them from the floor. Jackson seemed to have been debating going over and asking if she was alright, but the girl seemed to want little attention, and he had his own things to worry about. So as he watched the girl resign herself to a corner and try to become invisible again, he turned back to face the two girls.

Still, he made no move towards either, nor towards Mrs. Black. Sure, he cared about Lilly, really liked her actually. And Alice was really very nice, and he felt bad for her. But were either of them actually any more than just good friends? He couldn't figure it out, more likely than not because he had never found himself attracted to anyone before and wouldn't know what it felt like. The only guy he'd liked was when he was maybe ten or eleven, so that was silly to even consider being enough to base his feelings on. "I..'m sorry guys. I just don't know..." Someone else needed to go first.

Alice ran out of the room trying to ran out of the class room where she was she was sad how could her mother put her with some that she had never really talk to before, and now she was being charged with getting another Lilly ready for the new world and the way it works Alice gave it thought maybe mom was right i can be the best role model for Lilly the first thing i'm going to have to do is get her eating right she to skinny Alice rounded the corner moved to room 12-9 it was the last room and the largest she had lived there all summer long. it was all of her thing in the rooms she would be damned if she would lose her room. it did not look like any one had just randomly walked in Alice drop her bag in the living area why did mom make her pack maybe it would make her look more like the others what ever Alice went in to the kitchen and put a large pot on the stove then she went to the ice box and got out the beans she had socked in water they were perfect for chili Alice pored them in then added tomatoes and then started browning ground beef the hole room smelled like food there was a nuff for Jackson and his match and may be Daniel and his girl and mom only because she could not cook, she left it on low and begin waiting on Lilly to show up.
