Shadows and light seem to have no effect in changing the color of her hair, and it stays just as dark as ever even under a bright source of light. Being naturally curly, her hair is tied up in twin tails and swept over her shoulder and its relatively rare to see her let her hair even cover her neck. Her fringe is neatly cropped, coming until the top of her eyes with a longer tuft in the middle.

Her eyes are a deep forest green most of the time, with lime green rings inside when she activates her power. She might wear glasses as decoration, simply to complement the color of her eyes. There is no problem with her vision however, even if she might choose to wear her spectacles at times.

Power gaining || It works with her simply taking a part of her victim's soul. It can be a small part, allowing her to gain only a weaker set of her victim's power, and she could return the part after she is done with her fight. However, if she chooses to, she would consume the whole soul, gaining all the powers of the victim for herself.
β Soul absorption || Anyone without a soul would simply be an empty shell, and Kurai has the power to reduce them to such as state. She could return the souls as well, but it depends in if she wanted to return them.
β Solidifying souls || The skulls with their green fire are actually fragments of souls that she had taken. Sometimes she would use the opponent's soul and break them into small pieces for her convenience so the person battling her would be effectively killing and tiring himself.

- α¦ Brainpower || She has quite a large amount of brain power, and is relatively intelligent, perhaps even more than those her age. Having a high intelligence allows her to understand the experiments the scientists are saying as well, though she doesn't show it most of the time.
α¦ Empathy || She has the power of empathy and is able to understand a person's emotions remarkably well by just taking in a fragment of their soul. She sometimes does that to check on how the others are doing and their mental wellbeing.
α¦ Singing || She is quite a good singer, though it's hard to catch her doing that. It's more often to find her humming a few verses under her breath or singing herself to sleep softly, but sometimes when she is tired after a fight you might find her singing a song loud enough to hear.

- Ξ¨ Demonic supression || Unlike Kuro, she is mostly terrible at supressing her demon form. When she is mostly human, she usually takes the form of a shy young girl with the same green eyes and curly hair, but that rarely happens. Now she had given up on even trying and stays in her demonic side all the time.
Ξ¨ Control || She is usually rather in control of her actions, but once she grows wild there is no going back. More than once has many scientists being killed by it.
Ξ¨ Small spaces || Perhaps that is the only way to punish her. Kurai has an acute fear of enclosed spaces and it's one of the only things that can make her break down. Whenever she gets too wild and loses her calm, a few hours in there can render her hepless and crying.

At first glance, people often keep well out of Kurai's way. Being a natural sadist, she enjoys seeing pain and suffering being inflicted to her victims, and would do so with glee in fights by torturing her victims both mentally and physically. She finds it to be a great source of entertainment and enjoys every moment of it. However, despite what she shows others, there is a hidden side to this girl. In fact, it can be argues that the girl's human form presents more of her true personality. Having little to none human contact, the girl is shy and quiet, hardly venturing to speak in fear of saying something wrong. No matter how she tries to hide it by making it so that people would be too afraid to get close to her, she could never get rid of her more sensitive nature. Once she knows you well enough, she shows her kinder and more gentle side, being rather caring about the welfare of those she considers friends. To say the truth, her emotions are rather unstable as of now, as they range with each soul she tries to absorb. Sometimes, she can be all madness, unable to recognize even the people closest to her. However, deep down she is a lonely girl that craves for company, and she knows that fact. Even if she would die before she admitted it...

In a dark room, Kurai was born to a woman by the name of Yuki Akiyama, kidnapped when she was out asking for directions to their new home one night. She just asked the wrong people, and the next thing she knew she was material body number 5023, and they implanted the Soul Reaper into her, a terrifying power that was nearly string enough to take over the woman herself. Miraculously, she managed to survive her first birth to a healthy baby girl. Immediately separated from her mother at birth, the small girl was raised solely in the lab, where she was given tests and experimented on to enhance her performance. Her powers awoke as soon as she was four, striking hard and powerful. The toddler would often be found cheerfully giggling away as her moderators were reduced to a comatose state. Her reaper powers were hard to predict and even harder to control, so they did it the hard way, locking the girl up every time it got out of control. It rearely worked except for scarring Kurai forever. Her power control eventually improved as her age grew, and so did her intelligence. At the age of fourteen, she was able to understand most experiments and handle her own powers relatively well, enough for them to stop torturing her so much. After all, there was a moderator who treated the shy child well, teaching her songs and being patient with her. It was from her that she learned singing from. Kurai even got her name from the moderator, by taking the colors of her dark hair and forest green eyes. She was the first person Kurai wanted to protect, and it was also at her hands did her moderator die. It was an accident, another one of her wild instances. She got too worked up with the experiments and killed most of the scientists. Unfortunately, the only person she cared for did as well. From then on, her personality took a large turn, becoming dark and sadistic. It can be argued that it was a counter measure against the torture by shutting her true persinality out, but she changed drastically from the shy girl she once was. As she soon started showing signs of needing companionship again, after the person she treasured most died, the scientists enrolled the girl in the Eden Project.
