Personality

Personality: Joel is a generally...rough person to be around. Her crude and somewhat snarky attitude clash with those more polite and prim'n'proper. She's honest to the core, though, and as good values. If would could get around her outer mercenary shell, she'd actually open up to be quite the lady. However, this is subdued by the harsh years of fighting and wounding that have covered her life. She's stuborn and hardheaded to boot, being loyal to the last breath.

History

Background:
There is little about Joel's past that is important. She grew up without a mother, easily taking after her father whom was a lumberjack and a part time mercenary, to earn a little extra money during the summer. This made Joel quite distanced from her father, but she respected him. When she was ten, she said that she wanted him to take her out on a bounty with him. Of course, he refused, but Joel knew how to work her father. He wagered that he'd not take her, untill after this mission. He had to teach her how to fight.

Joel was soon on track to becoming a young mercenary herself. She had always had a knack for fighting. The town's other children often made fun of Joel, whom was almost always home doing chores while her father was out. More than a dozen times, and then some, had Joel knocked a boy's lights out, or socked him in the head, untill unconcious. She definitely had some anger issues, particularly towards the men that were sexist. Her father showed her how to use a familiar weapon: The axe. Joel had chopped firewood before, and knew the basics of the weapon. But even further-so, that he taught her to use it effectively. The bladed weapon became deadly in her hands, and after eight years of this, she could even beat her father.

She left home after this time, and became a traveling mercenary. She actually gained a fair bit of reputation as a good hearted fighter. But after a close call with some bandits, she decided that she needed to further herself in her training. After a bit of traveling, she finally settled down with a guild of fighters. She honestly didn't care much for the people themselves, but she did value their knowledge. From them, her wealth of knowledge increased tenfold. She became a master of the axe, and learned how to use her body as a leathal weapon, and other skills that would save her life. She learned these skills over the course of nine years, and would again set out on mercenary work.

After another two years of mercenary work, she finally decided that she could take a rest for a while, and decided to relax in the port town of Anvil for a while. The town knew her well, as she would be a constant relief from brigands and bandits time after time again. The Flowing Bowl is her haven, and she is commonly seen drinking, eating...and engaging in the occassional drunken brawl there as well.
