Introduction

Elder Scrolls: Agents of Talos

Image

NOTE - I'm basing this on things that happened in my personal Skyrim, so the Stormcloaks won the war in skyrim!

~Background
E4 321, 120 years after Alduin, The World Eater was destroyed by the Dovahkiin in Skyrim, a new threat is present across Tamriel! The Thalmar are the ruling government of the Aldmeri Dominion in the elven lands. They are elven supremacists who seek to end the Empire of Tamriel and the worshipping of Talos. Many of the Mer races are now on the side of the Thalmar, weather this is for reasons of fear or reason or real support. They now rule over 4 regions of Tamriel, Summerset Isle home of the Altmer (High Elf) and where the Thalmar was first formed, Valenwood home of the Bosmer (Wood Elf), what is left of Morrowind home of the dunmer (Dark Elf) although many Dark Elves oppose them and High Rock the home to the Bretons. In these lands the Thalmar have made the slavery of 'lesser races' such as Argonians, Khajiit and sometimes some of the man races (Nord, Imperial and Redguard).
The Thalmar are currently trying to push there leadership into Cyrodiil as the Imperial Empire still rules over most of Tamriel and they want the Aldmeri Dominion to rule and for the Elven races to rule as the supreem races. They have armys of Thalmar worriers and Thalmar battlemages stationed around the easten side of cyrodiil and have even taken over the town of Cheydinhal.

J'Una

It was the night of the 30th of and J'Una Aren was sleeping in the Dawn Star Dark Brotherhood sanctuary in a shared bed chamber with other assasins when he was awoken by the voice of a man calling his name, Upon awakening J'Una saw a shadowy ghostly figure. The figure turned and spoke to him.

"J'Una Aren, I am Talos, the man-god himself, I have come far to inform you that you will be one of nine chosen Agent of Talos, chosen by me myself". In shock J'Una looked at the other assasins shairing the room with him, none of them had stured from their sleep as if they couldn't hear or see him. "Do not ask any questions" the man-god continued "Any questions you may have will be answered when you meet with the other agents in Cyodiil" J'Una rubbed his eyes in disbelief, was this the real Talos and if it was, why an assasin he thought "You will meet the other agents on the 2 weeks from now on the 13th of Rain's hand in an abandand Fort, Fort Ash to be exact, when you get there, there will be no bandits, there will be no goblins, there will only be safety. I must leave you now, 2 weeks, Fort Ash." With that the spector vanished into air, leaving J'Una left open mouthed, he still couldn't comprohend what had just happened.

Upon awakening the next morning, J'Una knocked on the door to the Brotherhood leaders bed chamber. The leader, an elderly green Argonian with red feathers on his head, for an assasin who enjoys nothing more that a nice bit of torcher, he was a rather pleasent fellow. The door opened reveling the Argonian smiling, he looked a little confused by the unusual early morning disturbance. "Ah, J'Una, what could possebly bring you to my bed chamber so early in the morning?".

"Honard leader" J'Una said giving a slight bow to greet his honard leader, J'Una was so excited he was hardly able to contain his words "This one...I have somthing I need to tell you! Lord Talos came to this one in the night! He wants J'Una to serve him as one of his agent against the Thalmar!"

The elderly Argonian stared at him blankly for moment before rowring with laughter "Ahahaha, Nice story lad but your a lowly assasin, only sithis would speak with you, and by the sound of it, this assasin need to lay off the skooma." The Argonian turned and closed the door behind him leaving J'Una standing alone in the corridor.

J'Una sighed and said under his breath "I Don't do skooma." He turned and walked back to his room, In his mind he knew what he saw and he knew that what he saw was Talos, and what Talos says goes, even over the word of Sithis. J'Una went to his chest in the bed chamber, collecting some potions, 200 septems, his Blades Kitana and his Small Dagger. Now fully suited and booted, J'Una returned to the Leaders who was now at the dinner table in the main hall, J'Una lowdly cleared his throut.

The Argonian looked up at him, this time when he set eyes on J'Una, a look of annoyance could be seen on his face, when he saw that J'Una had all his gear with him, the expression turned to disippointment "J'Una, where are you going?" The Old Argonian asked.

"I'm going to Fort Ash in Cyodiil, J'Una is one of the nine chosen Agents of Talos, and J'Una will defeat the Thalmar with the other eight agents." J'Una expressed how deturmined he was to see this through and the old Argonian could see this, and was not impressed, in his eyes, a member of the brotherhood should only show Faith in Sithis.

"I Do not approve of this J'Una, if you leave this sanctuary, you will not be welcomed back into the Dark Brotherhood" The Argonian Leader was very stern, J'Una could tell that he was serious about what he was saying "and that means that we may have to assasinat you, you know too much to just let you leave."

J'Una looked away from his leader, he had always been a faithful and trustworthy member of the Brotherhood, he didn't want to just leave and let his leader...His friend down, but Talos, Talos has been his god ever since he was a child. He looked back at his leader before he looked to the ground with his eyes closed "Honard leader, this one want not to let you down, J'Una just wants to serve you as one of the best assasins the brotherhood has ever seen, but...but Talos will always have to come first for me. I am sorry, J'Una must leave" J'Una looked back up at his friend before turning and walking up the staires towards the door. "Hail Sithis!" J'Una shouted down to the other assasins of the brotherhood, They just staired up with dissapointed looks on their faces, J'Una turned and and left the sanctuary into the first leg of his long jorney to Cyrodiil.

Tullius Sighed as he tossed and turned in his bed, inside a inn bedroom on the second floor. He couldn't sleep tonight! it was almost maddening! Having just pulled a job earning enough coin to buy a new leather armor outfit, new shoes, even a silk shirt if he wanted such things. Well maybe a new bow..Tullius smirked as he sat up and ran his hands through his hair. "I usually sleep so good when I do a job..what is wrong tonight?" "Because I am keeping you awake Tullius Septimus" The voice came from no were but everywere as if it was in his head! Tullius grabbed his boot dagger and jumped out of the bed backing into a corner. "show yourself!"

"Tullius..Tullius..so jumpy for one of the best thieves in all of Cyrodiil. You will not find me..for I am the man god Talos." Tullius blinked for a second"and im the grey fox hah!"The sound of a chuckle but no body..were the heck is this guy! "I know of every single job you have done..even the jewel necklace you took from that noble woman five years twenty four days and twelve hours ago." Again Tullius blinked"Ok..so you are Talos..what do you want with me?" He asked wondering what is going on "You are to be one of my agents..you are to reach fort ash in Cyrodiil in two weeks to meet with the other eight agents." Tullius sighed some"Alright but if this a trick man god..i will get out..I always do!" With that the chuckling voice was gone.

Wondering if the voice was actually even there to begin with, Tullius sighed and laid down in his bed once more, it took almost half a hour as he lay there thinking of what just happened before he finally fell alseep. The following morning Tullius packed his gear into his traveling ruck sack and bought a horse. Fort Ash was days away if not almost a week. "All this for a voice in my head.."

Veros lied back on the small wooden wall floating in the sea. "Hmph.. Another warm night. Ah, well. This one has gotten used to it." He muttered, looking around.

"Veros, do not be alarmed - I am the Man God, Talos. I have personally chosen you to be one of the Nine Agents of Talos. You will meet the others two Weeks from now, in Cyrodill. Go to where you wasted half of your life." Talos Boomed.

"You mean Fort Ash, Correct?" Veros grunted. "Yes. Now, sleep. You'll need the rest. You have a long journey from Elsewyr to Cyrodill!"

"Greeeeat." Veros moaned, turning and going to sleep. He assumed he was dreaming, but just to be sure he would still show up at Fort Ash.

“Thou, Kaie, have been chosen as one of Talos's agents.”

Books, statues, and paintings that were long gone, had clearly set the image of this man. Talos, he had said. 'Twas a bit overwhelming, to say the least. Kaie had never been raised in religion, let along taught to revere the man-God, Talos.

The Breton woman tried to speak, but was too surprised to even make a sound. The vague image made a soft, silent chuckle. “I see thou, art confused.” He said in response to her confused expression.

“Thou art chosen to be one of the nine agents, that will end the coming threat.” It didn't make sense to the young woman. Why, from all of Tamriels capable fighters, would someone revered as a man-God, choose her for such a thing?

“Thou shallt meet the other agents at an abandoned Ruin in Cyrodiil, Fort Ash. There, more shall be explained.” With a short pause, the appearance finished his business with the Breton woman. “For now, I must go. Two weeks, Fort Ash, thou shallt not forget...”

Kaie had no time to either complain, or respond in any other form. The shade had already disappeared from her sight, and was nowhere to be seen...

[~-----~]

“Excuse me, Miss?” A low, male voice spoke out. His expression was a frustrated one, though one could not blame him for it. His temporary companion/bodyguard appeared to have slumbered away into a daydreaming state. “Ehm, Miss? Is everything alright...?” The man raised the volume of his voice a bit louder, finally getting the woman's attention.

“Uh, oh! Sorry! What were you sayin'?” Exclaimed Kaie, a bit embarrassed that she'd wandered off with her thoughts. Ah, having a vision about a god, does make you wonder about certain things. With her focus returning back to the real world, so did the stingy feeling of the sun rays. Out of habit, Kaie threw her hood over her head, and wrapped her cloak around her body.

“I believe we are nearing Skingrad, Miss.” The man said, glaring awkwardly at his companion, who was busy wrapping herself in her cloak. The female Breton just nodded at his remark, returning to her train of thoughts. So, if her vision was real... She'd meet up with eight other 'chosen agents'. What would they be like, Kaie wondered.

After arriving, and entering Skingrad, Kaie said her goodbyes to the travelling merchant and headed for the Tavern. She had two whole weeks to waste, before she'd need to arrive at Fort Ash. Maybe she'd be able to run some errands while here? You never know when a local peasant needs help scaring away a few bandits.

But now, she felt tired. Not only did the long journey from Anvil to Skingrad wear out her fatigue, She hadn't gotten herself much sleep last night 'cause of the vision... “One room for the day, please.” The Breton asked the rather tall female standing behind the counter. “That'll be twenty gold, sweetie.”

The young woman ruffled through her pockets, handing over a rough twenty gold to the inn-keeper as she gave Kaie the key to her room. “Up the stairs, last room.”

Kaie nodded silently, thanking the tall woman with a slight bow as she made way for a nice nap. She carefully entered the rather dusty room, unclasping her weapon belts and untying her cloak from her neck, before allowing her weak, and exhausted body to fall on the soft bed...

Lucret Berne

`The day was beginning to come to an end all over Cyrodiil and the wind was biting hard for the first time in the long season. A figure could be seen moving along the bridge from the capital, spotted slightly by each of the braziers it passed. The sound of the city could barely be heard now as the figure gained distance ever more on there journey.
The figures name was Lucret Berne and while he bore the face of an imperial one would be set ajar to know that he actually hailed from High Rock. Tonight would have been the last night he planned to actually stay within the empire, however the night before was not one he thought would happen. His stay at the inn had been very normal for the time having done some slight bartering and eating his meal, his room and bed where all to welcoming.

But in the dead of night something was amiss about the whole situation for him, his skin was slightly chilled and there was the sensation of snow flakes dancing on his face. He sat up quickly and readied a spell for whatever was happening and looked to see the cause as the arks of energy began to dance about his fingers. But his actions came to an abrupt halt when before him he saw the visage of the great Talos. Lucret had maybe seen his face several hundred times before so it was not to question who this being was before him. He lowers his hand and slides back to lean on the wall behind him and looks as it seems Talos wishes to speak.
*Tamriel needs you and others like you, you with the will to change the fate of an empire.* He continued on to tell Lucret of the date and place he would meet the others and begin this holy mission. It was with that information that he left the capitol this day on his journey because not many would willingly deny the will of a god like Talos.

His mission was clear now after this night with the god, unit with the others chosen by Talos and undo the rule of the Thalmar.

The young Breton slowly stumbled out of the inn. The sun had lowered, and her skin no longer had to endure the majority of burning feeling.

Kaie had thanked the inn-keeper for her kindness, and the free drink that came with the meal the young woman had ordered. They even chattered a bit, which was why the Breton had set out for an adventure, how little it might be.

[~-----~]

After a small bit of chatter about how things were faring in Skingrad, the inn-keeper noted Kaie on her weaponry. Indicating that the young woman was more then a 'simple traveller'...

“Miss, would you care to solve a small predicament for me?” The inn-keeper asked the Breton, pointing at the girl's weapons as she made a slight moment to come closer. Kaie simply nodded, and leaned forward to listen in on the woman's whispering words.

“It isn't much, but a lot of visitors have been complaining about the problems on the road. Said goblins from a nearby cavern were prone to attacking them on sight.” The inn-keeper paused for a moment, only to glare in the slight direction of a guard that was just leaving the inn.

“The guards won't even try to solve the problem, think it ain't as bad as the travellers say it is.” She paused again, resting her chin on one of her index fingers as she pondered about what to give as a reward. “I can make it worth your trouble. A free night and meal, does that sound okay?”

Kaie glared silently. 'Twas a good deal. Well, that depended on the difficulty of the task, and the severity of attacks. Plus the fact that it was in a caverns, so there'd be more then just 'Goblins'. “Why don't the guards do anything about it then? It appears this is a common occurrence here...”

The inn-keeper sighed. “No, the cavern is deep within the forest, safely chucked away from the main road. There'd be no reason for them to come this far.” Kai thought about it once more. “I'll try to see if there is anything odd about this 'attacking' occurrence.”

The woman nodded, and gave a lazy wave towards Kaie as she left the inn.

[~-----~]

“She said to go North as soon as I exit the town.” 'Twas strange though, how city guards didn't even bother with the attacks. Even if they seem vague, they should at least have investigated something. “Perhaps an Imperial thing...” Kaie muttered under her breath, making her way towards the gates...

Before she made her way to the cave though, the young Breton was too curious on why the guards weren't doing anything about the problem. “excuse me, Sir. May I ask of these strange goblin attacks I've been hearing about?” The guard glared at the girl with a stern, and annoyed expression.

“You've been hanging around the inn? All those travellers are talking nonsense! Don't be fooled by them, they are telling you drunken tales.” Not the answer she was expecting. “Could you, at least, tell me where I'd find the cave they are speaking off?”

“You go North, past the forest, and up a small hill. There you'll find it. You are wasting time though, the last goblins inhabiting that cave are gone. And we sealed the entrance anyway.” Kaie gave the guard a disapproving look before walking away.

By the time she had spotted the vaguely described entrance, the sun had made way for the early moon. “Ah, night time. The soft, breezing and cold wind is welcoming...” The young Breton took a deep breath, and watched in disbelieve as the entrance was wide open. Traces of moved rocks, and broken doors were all that remained.

“Didn't the guard say the entrance was blocked?” Kaie made slow, silent paces in the direction of the entrance. She had to be on her toes. Who knows what could be in there, if not Goblins...

Veros was practically sleeping like a baby when he hit the shore. A loud Thwump noise was really all that was heard when he run aground. "Let me sleep a little longer!" He cried, rolling over on his little wall of wood. He rolled off the wood and face first into the sand. "Ohgmhfm Jgmhoy..." Escaped Veros' lips. [I]I'm in Cyrodill already? Uuuugh. I don't WANT to be in Cyrodill for two weeks. Curse you, Talos! - I don't mean that, really. Please, don't smite me."

Veros pushed himself up, attempting to look dignified - And walked up the Beach to the neareast Sign. "Now, lets see where i am.. Oh.. Er..." He muttered, unable to read the writing on the sign. "Bru... Bru... Um... Bruma! Okay, so i know i'm in Cyrodill now. For the love of Talos, why do i talk to myself?" He queried. Veros really did have issues - And talking to himself wasn't one of them. He had a dream that Talos had spoken to him! Bah! What a load of nonsense! If he really did, the first thing he'll see in Bruma is a Drunken Guard.

He turned and the first thing he saw was a Drunken Guard. "Oh... Joy." He muttered, a large scowl forming on his face. "What next? Lava Rain? - On second thought, i take that back."

Veros decided his first course of action would be to head to Skingrad, see if his Contacts could give him any assistance like a place to stay, and then ask around if anyone was in trouble. And with that, Veros asked nicely if he could get a Cart Ride to Skingrad - And he did. "Stupid Talos and his Stupid Cyrodill - And if you're listening and Watching me, Talos.." Veros muttered, looking up to the sky and sticking his tounge out. Truthfully, it would be a miracle if Veros ever grew up and stopped acting like a five year old.

The gentle sound of water dripping from various stalactites. The occasional grunt from one of the inhabitants of this cave, and the soft peeping sound of the rats that had infested these caverns, kept the young Breton on her toes. 'Twas dark, and foggy. Although that mattered little to her, for it did not hinder her sight the slightest. Must say that the fog was, indeed, a bit of a nuisance.

Kaie made many twists, turns, and jumps in this gigantic maze. No, it wasn't that big, but caverns had a tendency to be quite confusing, no matter the size. The faint flickering of a small camp-fire, drew the woman's attention, and alarmed her that something was most likely watching the place. Gentle steps led her directly to a shadowy corner of the gaping entrance to the room. A goblin lay resting on the ground.

The smell of burning meat indicated that it had been feeding not too long ago. “Yuck. Burnin' rat...” Kai softly muttered under her breath. The creature was growling quite loudly, and rustling through the gravelly, stone ground.

“Eek!” Kaie was focused on watching the goblin, that a startling movement made her yell a bit too loud. 'Twas only a small rat, rustling through some bones, but it was effectively enough to scare the young woman.

And, help her into a bit of a predicament. Her startled cry had woken the goblin, who was now shuffling towards the natural entrance. Kaie took a deep breath as she unsheathed one of her blades. 'Calm down, Kaie. A mere goblin shouldn't give you that much trouble...'

She waited for the right moment to strike the creature as critically as possible. When the mindless beast tried to look around the corner, that was when Kaie's blade touched the rough, white-ish skin of the beast. Merely scraping its torso, yet enough to force the goblin to back down.

Surprised, the goblin took a split second to realise what had happened, and charged blindly with all his might. Wildly swinging its rusted axe at the Breton, who had already prepared her stance to chop one of the creatures limbs.

It roared loudly, as the steel blade cut its wielding-arm off like it was butter. Another attack would follow that jabbed the blade into the creatures heart. Nearly simultaneously, both the creature's arm, and its filthy body dropped on the ground. Near black blood squirting everywhere as it did so.

Kaie glared at the corpse, her neutral expression swapping with a sad one. “'Twas not entirely inevitable you'd die...” Mindless creature or not. Kaie could not bare killing anything, even if she accepted that something must die in order to protect something else. The young woman threw one of the rags that lay near the camp-fire, onto the goblin corpse. A way of saying, rest in peace. Of sorts.

With her weapon sheathed, Kaie continued her adventure once more...
