◥For as long as those of humanity could recollect, they had existed. Lingering in the air the mortals breathed, taking residency in the sky, the sea, the ground..they could even be exhumed within the essence of human soul itself. They were the embodiment of life itself, a presence, a tumour if you will, that could not be removed without doling harm to the host. While their names have gone through numerous cycles of change, humans now simply address their clade as 'Gods', deities of the utmost importance.

These deities, the ones who existed as a guiding force for the mortals below them, often had flashes and moments of what many consider to be a mortal weakness; jealousy. Possessing unbridled envy for their 'playthings' for being able to roam about a transient plane, one full of greenery and wonderment, one that they had created, the Gods became overly frustrated. For you see, these otherworldly beings were simply not permitted by their mother Gaia to take even a step off their floating kingdom of Olympus, the assured consequences if they invaded the fragile sanctuary of Earth were to be grave and of tremendous pain. And so, the deities passed their days in longing spite, wishing to figure out a way to walk amongst the earthlings and to experience their lives.◢◣

It was finally decided upon that the deities of major importance would be granted permission by Gaia to link a part of themselves to select individuals in order to experience life on Earth. By linking themselves, these humans would be granted 'magic', powers similar to what their Gods had, along with an extended lifespan and the ability to telepathically communicate with their benefactor. These special humans would then create a familial of sorts with members of likeness, establishing the first ever true hierarchy among humans. Not one forged through money or blood, though that soon would come into play, but one of pure magic and raw ability.

Minor deities, ones that were never truly discussed amongst humans in length, felt a boiling anger that were they oppressed by the Majors. Seeking to also experience the joys and legends, they too were finally allowed to make pacts with their children...unfortunately, the powers blessed were far from being nearly as powerful as the ones bestowed by the Majors. The Minor gods had no choice but to watch in horror as the sons and daughters of the Majors assaulted and enslaved their familial for being less than "adequate" in their eyes.

As the years came and went, new children in a familial being blessed, a sort of class tier was established. The descendants of the original mortals to be blessed by the Majors became a sort of royalty..while the Minors' offspring suffered from a mirroring servitude found on Olympus itself. In short, there was no chance to escape the curse of being 'lesser'. Even as humanity pushed forward with astounding technology and advancements, this division and oppression never ceased to exist, despite the claims everyone was set level to one another. Though this separation only became even more apparent as two academies sprung forth, ones dedicated to training and exercising the full potential of each deities' child; the Caelestis for the Major familials and the Terrenis for the Minor familials. And those who weren't blessed? They merely no had option for education or freedom..just servitude and labor.

It was with the emergence of these academies that the minor deities, their rage only growing with the blatant treatment of their members, made a deal with the majors; let there be a tournament to determine their children's' freedom and equality, to prove their actual strength and measure their worth against those who were 'oh so perfect'.

And so the Equitas games were born.

Once every 10 years , 6 children (the ages 16 or higher) from both the Caelestis and Terrenis academies are culled out from their halls to battle one another in a twisted form of "hide and seek", the reputation of their gods resting on their shoulders...though it is far from being as harmless as it sounds. While the smaller deities were content at first that their voices had been heard, the chilling horror of what they had agreed to had finally sunk in; those belonging to a stronger familial often killed the weaker ones within the games and taking the strongest of the 'losers' as their personal trophies.

What originally started out as a chance for equality morphed into a blood bath with ones' freedom on the line. It became well known that those of the lower class, should they win, would gain ultimatum and privileged status..though if they were "caught", any chance for that happiness would be extinguished. While there existed many eager volunteers at first, as the years stretched on, there was less and less hope..meaning those of minor class were forced to participate. Feeling there needed to be yet another advantage for those who were clearly better, the major deities also granted their participating child a chance to use another servant within the games, be it their own or their parents or even a member's...something of which the lower class only used as confirmation that the Equitas games were a death sentence.

As the new games approach in the year 2030, the minor deities of crafted a special plan, one that would finally push forward a winner from their ranks and show their opponents they could be just as powerful; each one was to bless an amulet with their blood and give it to their participating child to wear throughout the trials. This particular ritual was to give them stronger power than in the past..as well as the ability to, should it occur, revive themselves once from the dead. A secret kept from all but their familials, the minor deities can only pray that there will be a victor during this round, one that can end the constant cycle of oppression and hate.

♚ {Reservations} || Please reserve characters in the OOC. I won't accept a random submission, no matter how awesome they are. So please, just reserve~ Also, this is not a first come, first serve role-play and you might have to compete for your spot should another person show interest. If you find this tedious and unnecessary, you are free to leave this role-play at any time. And, although you reserve a character, they will be chosen based on creativity, depth, length, and originality. The more creative and detailed your character sheet, the more likely you'll get accepted~ Also, skeleton will be posted in the OOC as well as the 'God' symbols. As for the faceclaims, you are allowed to change them but please send me a pm before hand.. I would really like to avoid using fcs that are overused on this site if at all possible.

♚ {Three Days} || You only have three {3} days to submit your characters, and five {5} to complete it. If not complete by day five {5}, I will give your position away... unless you contact me beforehand asking for more time.

♚ {Literacy} || Not only will I be looking for details in your character sheet, but proper grammar and spelling as well. This role-play is to be literate, meaning posts are to be kept at a minimum of 150+ words.. Now, I know we are not perfect and we all make mistakes but if you cannot use a proper spell check, it will reflect within your character sheet! So please, be at least semi-literate with the capability to post at minimum one hundred and fifty words {150}.

♚ {Explicit Content & Etc.} || Of course dramatic romance is encouraged..it is the best thing ever! Gore may also pop up in here a few times. Drama is allowed in character >but not in the OOC...unless it is playful< Yes, Swearing can be used, but please don't go overboard..also, that includes "intimate" relationships. Please, take it to the PMs if you wish.. just don't blind us~ Also..when reserving, post your hex codes.

♚ {One Last Thing} || Also add your favourite Disney movie + a gif of it alongside the earlier passwords when reserving.
