GENERAL INFORMATION

Image
Gender: Female

Race: Human

Nickname(s)/Alias(es): Celi, Cel, Priestess

Age: 19

Dominant Hand: Right

Face Claim: Scheherazade (Magi)

Role: The Cleric

APPEARANCE

Image
Height: 5'2"

Weight: 120 lbs

Build: Petite

Hair Color: Bright Blonde

Eye Color: Lime Green

Scars/Tattoos/Piercings: She has no tattoos or piercings, but she does have a birthmark on the back of her left thigh as well as a beauty mark underneath her left eye.

Description: Celica is a very dainty woman with a young face. As such, she is often mistaken for a child despite her mature voice and mannerisms. She does her best to compensate by keeping her thick blonde hair impossibly long and flowing behind her. However, in more unforgiving environments where her hair can easily get caught such as forests, she will begrudgingly tie back her hair. She has bright green eyes that hold a certain wisdom to them that often surprise people since they expect a child-like mind to match her child-like body. Despite her struggles with her youthful appearance, she still retains a somewhat ethereal beauty about her that naturally draws a lot of attention.

Preferred Clothing: Celica cannot and will not be found wearing anything other than her cleric robes. They are a sign of her status as a priestess to the Divines, and she refuses to dawn anything else even if she technically not on duty. She strongly believes that the work of cleric is constant, so she must be constantly prepared to do her duty. She will occasionally adorn herself with a thick hooded cloak over her robes for colder weather or incognito purposes, but this is as far as she strays in her wardrobe. She also always carries her Cleric's staff with her everywhere. It helps channel her magic, and saves Aether.

ABILITIES

Image
Image
Image

Skills:
    || Healing Magic ||
Naturally as a fully trained cleric, Celica possesses the ability to use light-based magics and thus healing magic. She is capable of healing many different types of injuries and afflictions. Her healing abilities, however, are limited to her Aether supply. The more grievous the wound, the more magic required to fix it. She is also capable of curing various diseases and toxins, but she must have foreknowledge of the affliction before she can do anything about it.

    || Holy Magic ||
Another result of her priestess upbringing is her ability to cast holy spells. This particular style of magic she learned at the temple is only truly meant to combat undead creatures and defend herself. It is by no means an offensive style of magic, and if forced into combat alone, she would definitely be at a disadvantage.

    || Common Spells ||
Celica's education required she learn some more generic magic spells, so she was more rounded in her abilities and understanding. These are very basic in nature and mere beginner spells from each element. Nothing overly impressive.

Strengths:
    || Magical Ability ||
Easily her strongest ability, Celica's greatest contribution lies in her magic. She has been trained since a young age to effectively heal and cure others of their wounds. With the addition of her holy magic to suppress and subdue the undead and other creatures of darkness, she can be very effective in a bind and help push the tide in the group's favor.

    || Diplomacy ||
Celica is used to working with and managing many different types of people on a daily basis. As a result, she knows how to talk to and relate with even the most stubborn and difficult people. She can easily diffuse most arguments and fights with a few choice words.

    || Level Head ||
Wise beyond her years, she can remain cool and collected in many difficult and stressful situations making her invaluable for keeping the rest of the group's heads on their shoulders.
Weaknesses:
    || Combat ||
Celica is a support through and through. While she can assist from the sidelines, she can by no means fight directly. If not cautious, she could easily be struck down.

    || Strict Sense of Justice ||
Although being a fair and just person is not a bad thing, her strong sense of justice can sometimes blind her from necessity. She has no problem with striking down criminals and monsters, but neutral parties or innocents goes completely against her ethics. Depending on the situation, this could easily devolve into arguments and conflict.

MENTALITY

ImageOddities: She has a tendency to twist her staff in her hands when deep in thought about something. If she doesn't have her staff for some reason, she will settle for wringing her hands.

Likes: Tea, Flowers, Fruits particularly Strawberries, Literature, History, Cleanliness, People, Music

Dislikes: Negativity, Injustice, Anything Corrupted by the Blight, Fish, Filth, Smoking

Hobbies: Reading, Sewing/Needlepoint, Singing

Phobia(s): Necrophobia

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Personality: By default, Celica is levelheaded and rather shrewd. She isn't quick to speak and will evaluate a situation before she finds itself necessary to give input. She is also rather clever and can pick up on other's emotions with ease giving the allusion she knows exactly what to say to a person.

However, Celica, due to her upbringing, also has a strong sense of justice. She strongly believes that all wrongs must be righted, and one way or another, the Divines will adjust the balance. If she witnesses a person being cheated or taking advantage of in someway, she will without hesitation stand up for the "victim". This can dissolve her normal cool and collected persona, and get her into trouble occasionally if she is feeling particularly passionate. This justice bleeds over into her kindness as well. She has a big heart, and can't bring herself to turn away a soul in need. She is not a fool, though. She can recognize a phony when she sees one and will gladly give a piece of her mind to anyone who tries to mislead others.

BACKGROUND

Image

Family: Celica was left as an orphan at the steps of a temple, so she has no blood relatives. Her only family is her fellow servants of the Divines. Her closest family would be her mentor and mother figure, Almina.

Personal History: For as long as Celica can remember she has been living and serving in various temples of the Divines. She was left as a baby at the steps of one such temple. Taking pity on the child, her future mentor and the closest thing she would have to a mother took her in and raised her as her own. This woman's name was Almina. Having devoted herself to the Faith as a teenager, Almina never married and had children. So seeing a young helpless child on the steps of the temple, she immediately adopted the child as her own.

Celica was raised and educated as a cleric under the tutelage of Almina, the current high priestess. She was taught everything she knows in hopes she would one day take up the role of high priestess once Almina passed away. However, as much as Celica enjoyed helping others and learning magic, she had a strong penchant for adventure. She always got extremely excited each time they were to travel and visit a different temple in the region. When she was a child, she would often sneak out of the temple and go wander around in the woods or surrounding town. This would often lead to her getting in trouble and requiring either Almina or one of the other priests or clerics to come rescue her. Finally when Celica turned sixteen, she was given the choice to leave the temple and forge her own path, but Celica hesitated. As much as she wanted to go out and find her purpose in the world, she couldn't bring herself to leave the only home she had ever known. Thus, she decided to stay until an opportunity came along for her to pursue further.

Looking up at the ceiling inside the room of the inn he had taken for the night Nero lied on the bed limbs splayed across the mattress. "It's been so long since I've slept in an actual bed that I almost forgot what it's like." He said through a big yawn. "Any way it's been a long day so I really should go to sleep early since it'll be an even longer day then usual tomorrow." With another big yawn sleep slowly over took his mind. Although the night had a very different plan then a peaceful sleep for the tired young man.

Through out the night Nero kept tossing and turning while he eyes flitted about under their lids causing the young warrior to wake several times clutching the sides of the bed as though it was the only thing keeping his body from floating away. "Gods either I've gotten so used to sleeping on a bed roll... or it might be nearing that day..." he said to himself rolling onto his side before trying to make himself fall asleep once again, but to no avail. Now with a heavy sigh Nero kicked the sheets off himself as his eyes wandered around the moon light dowsed room. As he swung his feet off the bed Nero began to yawn letting his feet guide him to his semi neat pile that was his equipment covered by his shirt. "I should clear my head, perhaps the fresh air can calm my nerves." as he let the sentence sink in Nero simply shook his head as he put on his shirt.

Once he was finished dressing himself Nero reached for his sword as to mount it to his hip, only making afew adjustments so it would sit comfortably. "If anything I can get a handle on this town maybe find a book store." finally contempt with how he looked the young warrior left his room leaving the arm platemail on the floor fully intending to return after he had time to clear his head. Once out of the room Nero began to glance up and down the hall way he was standing in before making his way to the stairs afew loose planks creaking under his feet the entire way. "Oh Sir Nero are you leaving now 'tis still the middle of the night it is!" the Inn keeper called waving Nero over. "No I fully intend to return I'm just going for a short walk to clear my thoughts." he replied stepping away from the counter towards the door.

Letting the cool air touch his skin Nero placed his left hand upon the pommel of his sword while scratching his head trying to plan out what he was going to do for the evening. 'First to clear my head, then perhaps I can find a good black smith who can help do a small maintenance for my platemail, then maybe off to a book store.' nodding to himself the young warrior headed down the main street, glancing over at displays each time he passed a store.

After spending a decent amount of time wandering through the town Nero began to make his way back to the inn only stopping briefly when a elf with orange hair waved him down. "My apologies for interrupting your walk young man but could you point me in the direction of the inn here?" he asked sounding as though the elf didn't want to somehow upset Nero. "I'm just heading back there myself perhaps I can guide you." he said waving his hand in a gesture for the elf to follow.

"I must warn you though the inn is run mostly by humans, so you might find some prejudice with your stay, and may be asked how long you intend to stay and even pressured to leave sooner then you intend. Don't put any mind to it their still pretty crossed with the concept of having a truce with elves." Nero pointed out after walking in an uncomfortable silence for several minutes. "Right I'll do my best to keep that in mind." the elf replied with a confident under tone in his voice this time.

"Any way I fully intend to leave town soon sir... I'm sorry but could you give me your name?" This caught Nero off guard causing him to lightly stumble over his feet before catching himself and straightening out. "It's typically polite manners to introduce your self before asking for another's name." he said shifting his feet to avoid tripping again. "Right I suppose human culture is quite different from my own, you see in elven nations the younger must introduce themselves before the elders." the elf stated before falling silent. "I suppose the difference in culture would make me seem out of line... Either way my name's Nero Dalmascer, and who might you be?" he said turning the question back towards the elf. "You may call me Gaelin Xyrneiros." Gaelin answered falling back into the awkward silence until they reached the inn.

"Here we are. I'm going to turn in and try to get some sleep for the night." Nero pointed out waving at Gaelin as he watched the elf go to the Inn keeper to rent himself a room before disappearing up the stairs and back to his room.

The Next Day

As the sun shined through drawn curtains Nero began blinking the sleep from his eyes before getting out of bed and rubbing his shoulder. "Another restless night maybe I should have asked for something that could help keep me a sleep." he sighed walking over to the water basin dipping his cupped hands in and splashing the refreshingly cold water on his face. "Wow that's cold!" he gasped shaking the water from his hair before dipping his hands back into the basin and bringing them back up cupped and filled with water to his lips taking a small drink and letting the remaining water splash back into the container before flicking the remaining drops of water off his fingers.

After he finished washing up and rearranging his rather limited wardrobe so it sat comfortably on his person Nero began lacing his boots. "I still can't believe that today roughly ten years ago today. Though I wish I could forget and just act like it didn't happen but that's only in my dreams." Stretching his arms over his head Nero walked out the door. "My reality isn't full of happy endings rather it's just a twisted road filled with sink holes when I believe I make head way something just pulls me deeper." He sighed shaking his head rather violently causing his hair to whip around.

"No I made a promise that I would keep fighting until the day I can't fight any longer." Slapping himself afew times Nero made his way down stairs before handing the key to his room over to the keep. "Thank you for your patronage, we hope to see you again soon!" she called out as Nero walked out the door.

Feeling the cool air on his skin Nero looked around 'This place looks different during the day but that book store should be this way.' he thought pointing to the west of where he was facing. "But that can wait for now. What going on?" Stepping away from the door Nero placed his hand up to his chin.

Walking to a nearby stand Nero reached into his pocket grabbing a couple pieces of gold coins. "Sorry I'm sort of new here mind indulging my curious mind as well as my hungry stomach?" He asked the clerk grabbing a small loaf of bread and taking a bite. Seeing the clerk look the coins over for a second before deciding they were satisfactory enough he looked up to Nero and said. "I don't know much about the details myself but from the rumors going around I reckon one of those fabled Black Knights are coming to town." He said pocketing the coin while fetching out the change for Nero's payment.

"Oh no I'm good for now." Nero said patting his pocket. "By the way you wouldn't know which Knight is coming would you?" He asked only receiving a head shake in return. "Sorry sir I didn't hear myself. But I reckon their pretty important to get the whole town bustling like this." The clerk replied. "I see well thank you for what information you could provide it helped more then you would think." Nero said walking away while finishing his bread.

"May the Divines bless you and keep your path pure." Celica held her staff up in the air with her right hand, and with her other free hand she touched her index finger and middle finger to the top of the adventurer's forehead currently kneeling before her. After a few moments, she removed her hand and motioned for the adventurer to stand.

"Bless you, priestess. Surely nothing will stand in my way now." Celica lightly chuckled at the young swordsman's confidence.

"Be sure to not let your confidence change into recklessness. If you are cautious, you will certainly succeed," she stated carefully. With a quick bow, the young man swiftly exited the temple. As soon as he was gone, Celica released an exhausted sigh. It was still morning and she had already met with over a dozen individuals today for various blessings, healing, and advice. She walked to the temple entrance glancing outside at the main street of Fathrial. The temple sat proudly at the center of town, so it was not uncommon to see a lot of foot traffic outside. Yet, today seemed to be more bustling than usual. The next festival wasn't scheduled for another few weeks, so what could possibly have this many people running about?

"Sister Celica! Did you hear the rumors?" Celica raised an eyebrow at the young acolyte. She was only a few years younger than herself, but she was far below her in temple hierarchy. Celica was second only to the high priestess, Almina, herself.

"I tend to not make a habit of indulging gossip, Maria," she scolded lightly. Truth be told, Celica was very curious as to why the town was swarming. Something was happening that was for sure. The girl blushed lightly at the slight reprimand, but continued on anyway with as much enthusiasm as before.

"Apologies mistress, but they say a Black Knight is coming to town!" Celica raised her eyebrows in genuine surprise. A Black Knight? It had been decades since the Blood War ended and while rumors of Black Knight appearances and accomplishments since then had been talked about, no one could really confirm or deny whether they were true. To say one was directly heading for Fathrial was odd. What made the people so sure this person was a Black Knight anyway? Regardless, Celica figured preparations should be made. Almina was currently away on business elsewhere in the region leaving Celica in charge of the Fathrial temple. If a Black Knight was going to visit, there was a strong possibility they would visit here. It would be Celica's job to receive them and assist them in any way.

"If a Black Knight is visiting, then we must prepare as well. Alert the rest of our brothers and sisters. I must go into town to run an errand. If the knight was to arrive before I return, tell them I will be back shortly."

"Yes, mistress. " Without a backward glance, the acolyte ran off to alert the rest of the temple. With staff in hand, Celica made her way out into the crowded streets of Fathrial. Despite the number of people flooding the streets, the local citizens naturally parted for her as she passed. Many of the merchants and locals nodded and waved in greeting at her passing. Celica smiled and returned the favor. Despite her youth, Celica was greatly respected. She was known for superior healing abilities and many of the people she greeted had either been her patients or their family members had sought her attention at one point or another. It was exhausting at times assisting so many different people, but she loved her work. She would never turn her back on being a cleric.

Celica asked around hoping for someone to provide some kind of detail on the Black Knight, but no one seemed to really know anything. She was about to give up when she spotted a young swordsman not much older than herself walking down the street. Hopeful, she approached him.

"Excuse me. Could you by chance tell me about the Black Knight supposedly coming to town?"

"Do you need some hel-"

With a curt motion of her archer gloved hand, the fair-haired ranger silenced the young man. Dressed in a knee-length, angle-cut hem, flowing tunic that spread apart below the hips, overlaid with a leather jerkin, and oddly enough wearing two archer gauntlets, and archer gloves. Below her waist, she wore cloth leggings and footings, that were almost silent while she walked. Tall and graceful, her every step filled with intent. Despite the dirt and dried blood that covered her clothes and body, she seemed to be rather unconcerned about her appearance, although the townspeople around her would occasionally cringe at the filth she was covered in.

A quiver sat by her hip, filled with both freshly made arrows, and arrows that had seen their fair share of use. Slung on her shoulder was her bow, still strung and taut, ready to be fired in a swift motion of her arms and fingers. Her hair was a beautiful shade of silver, white almost, which was matted by mud and dried blood, and had been cropped short around the sides, and the top and fringe cut short. No sense in having lengthy hair at all when you trudge through the wilderness as a lifestyle. What was the most curious was the dark cloth that the woman seemed to have wrapped around her eyes. What was even more shocking still was her turning to face the man who had spoken to her.

"It'll save me some time. Point me in the direction of your nearest bath house, and I'll be on my way shortly." she told the man.

"I... I-I, wha-?" the man seemed extremely confused by the turn of events, before managing to be coherent enough. "It's not really a bath house, but you can wash yourself down the street, urm, Slough Shack or something. It's a little house with the cha-"

She was already off before the man was able to complete his sentence. There was no point in the unnecessary chatter. All she wanted to do was get washed and then be off on her way. The crowded streets on this town, Fathrial, was not to her liking, and being surrounded by humans didn't do her disposition any good either. She's been trudging around in like this for almost a week, and despite being a ranger, her hygiene was somehow a priority to her.

The ranger paid no heed to the whisperings of the people around her as she continued to walk towards her destination. They whisper of her appearance, the blood on her, her odd ears, her blindfold, almost everything they could use as gossip. She scoffed to herself. Humans. She passed an oddly shaped pair, her unique vision painting the visual for her in a weird way... Ah, weapons of sorts. Adventurers?

"Excuse me. Could you by chance tell me about the Black Knight supposedly coming to town?"

She stiffened for a moment before slowing down her pace and twisted her head as if to look back. With her ear now in better position to hear more clearly, she became slightly more attentive to the conversation. After all, if there was truly a Black Knight coming... she could stall the wash for a few more days.

"Tch." she scoffed to herself in disgust. The Azathas elves spoke of them. Black Knights. The so-called 'heroes' of the Blood War, flaunting their superiority as righteous beings despite the blood they've shed during the way. The Azathas also told her to never trust one; Black Knights would kill elves on sight.

"Not this one, I will kill them before they even realize what happened."

"Excuse me. Could you by chance tell me about the Black Knight supposedly coming to town?"

Turning towards the direction the voice came from Nero noticed the blond hair that came into view. "Uh well I barely heard of this arrival myself. It could be any of them." he said trying to sound as UN-interested by the rumor while casting a glance toward the passing woman with white hair when she scoffed causing the young warrior to shake his head "I understand the hatred elves have towards the Knight believing that the group needlessly killed their kind just to end the war... But killing out of cold blood wasn't my dad's way he wanted to end the Blood War without any casualties or as little as possible." he said to himself not realizing how loud he was speaking.

"Any way if your looking for the Black Knight it might be best to look towards the entrance of the city that is where most people to go when coming into or leaving the city." Nero Pointed out gesturing towards the growing group of people as time went on. "That's typically true. Unless the Knight sent a decoy in his place there so he could sneak in without being noticed and crowded." came a familiar voice which caused Nero to recoil and ready himself to let loose a punch on the party guilty of sneaking up on him.

"Dammit Johnathan hasn't anyone told you it's rude to sneak up on people I was about to punch you." Nero said lowering his hands a reaction that only garnered a chuckle from the older man "Also I doubt it was a smart move to basically admit that your father lead us when we Black Knights were still mercenaries." Johnathan stated eliciting a cough from Nero followed up with him covering his mouth with both hands. "Crap... um... right, please disregard what I said about my dad." he stated turning his gaze back to the priestess as he received a heavy patting on his back courtesy of Johnathan.

"Too late Nero you already let it slip, now own up to your own mistake and tell the lass your name." Johnathan stated ushering Nero towards the Priestess before being shrugged off. "Fine just stop shoving before I really do punch you." he growled bowing his head "Right My name is Nero Dalmascer Lucifer as you may have guessed by the name and apparently my big mouth, my father was the original captain of the Black Knights before his untimely... uh passing"

Dropping into a low bow Nero then turned back towards Johnathan "So what brings you here? I thought that ever since you became the new captain the king would keep you stacked with work or you'd be hunting down bandits." Nero's tone seemed annoyed though it seemed fairly obvious that he was annoyed with himself and his own loud mouth.

"Actually I received a letter from an unknown source. This letter stated that there has been a string of unusual events happening. One such event has people disappearing once they enter alley ways with no evidence that there was a struggle left behind not even blood."

As Johnathan spoke Nero was rubbing his chin. "That doesn't sound very odd I mean it could be possible that the people who "Vanished" left willingly or ran away." he said which got a nod of agreement from the knight captain.

"My thoughts as well it's not unheard of for people to elope or runaway if they feel like their in a hostile enviroment. But that brings me back to the letter, after that it continues saying that a large creature has been spotted in the same alleys where the disappearances have been taken place. The letter even states that this creature if we're sure it's a creature feels sentient almost as though we're dealing with a demon who can change size or shape depending on the situation."

Hearing the phrase demon brought up Nero immediately began to rub his exposed right arm only to then grip at the spot of his shirt that sat over his scar as though it was burning. "Well that sounds a bit more serious." both nodded in agreement

"I would appreciate it if you left town as soon as you can, if this is true and there is a demon loose inside this city then we're facing a rare danger that will require my full concentration."

'If it is a demon I doubt you'll even be able to do much before getting infected yourself apart from injuring it.' Doing his best to make sure Johnathan couldn't tell what he was thinking Nero simply gave a nod of acknowledgment before adjusting the platemail on his arm. "Right then I'll just go find a blacksmith and be on my way." he said casting a glance towards the priestess. "Could you guide me towards the blacksmith?" he asked doing his best to keep his voice calm to avoid Johnathan from catching onto his plan.

"Uh well I barely heard of this arrival myself. It could be any of them." Well, that wasn't particularly helpful. Celica sighed and was about to ask someone else when the young knight continued talking. She noticed a young woman, clearly not human, was scowling in their direction at the talk of Black Knights. Not surprising. The Black Knights were highly controversial.

"I understand the hatred elves have towards the Knight believing that the group needlessly killed their kind just to end the war... But killing out of cold blood wasn't my dad's way he wanted to end the Blood War without any casualties or as little as possible." Dad...? That implied that this young man- Before she could continue her train of thought another voice mingled into their conversation. Still puzzled over the mentioning of his father, she was surprised when the Black Knight in question appeared before them. She smiled slightly as the older man, Johnathan as she found out from their conversation, scolded the younger swordsman for his apparent slip of the tongue. He reminded her of Almina. Remembering the blind-folded woman, she discretely glanced over at the woman gauging her reaction to the Black Knight to see if she would be hostile or not. She was startled from her thoughts when Johnathan told him to apologize and introduce himself.

"Right My name is Nero Dalmascer Lucifer as you may have guessed by the name and apparently my big mouth, my father was the original captain of the Black Knights before his untimely... uh passing" Now that was surprising. To think two Black Knights had entered the city. Well, despite being the son of the famous Black Knight leader, that didn't mean he was necessarily a Black Knight she supposed.

"Ah, I see. My name is Celica Hallowtide. I am the priestess in charge of the Fathrial Temple. I left the temple to seek information regarding the rumored Black Knight visiting. To think I would not only find him, but the past leader's son as well.
Quite the coincidence. If either of you have a need of anything, I will do my best to make sure it is met."
She bowed slightly in return.

She listened intently to their conversation, her brow furrowing more and more as they spoke. Disappearances? A shape-shifting demon? This was the first she had heard of such incidents. Then again, she vaguely remembered hearing a woman crying in the temple over her missing child... Could that be connected? Celica was once again pulled from her speculating by Nero addressing her.

"Could you guide me towards the blacksmith?"

"Oh, I suppose I can do that. Follow me." This isn't what she exactly had in mind when she offered her assistance to the Knights, but if she could be helpful, then she supposed it was fine. She started walking down a side street leading towards one of the more prominent blacksmiths in Fathrial. As they walked, she turned towards Nero and asked a question of her own.

"If there is a demon in this town, I would like to be of assistance. I am well-versed in light magic, so I have an advantage against any manner of unholy creature. Plus, my healing abilities are second to none around here. I hate to think that some demon is slinking around claiming innocent lives and tearing apart families. I cannot rest knowing something like that is residing in Fathrial. Would you allow me to help?" Celica kept her eye contact steady with his to communicate her resolve and seriousness on the matter.

"I understand the hatred elves have towards the Knight believing that the group needlessly killed their kind just to end the war... But killing out of cold blood wasn't my dad's way he wanted to end the Blood War without any casualties or as little as possible."

"The son of a Black Knight? That makes you one of them, of course you would defend them. Humans. You wouldn't understand the fear the elves had."

Despite her anger, she took a look at the other human, a considerably shorter female, who had made a slight movement of her head, no doubt to look at her. She managed to contain herself and turned on her heel, continuing on her way to the Slough Shack at a brisk pace, her mood considerably soured by this. "If your father's way was to end the war without casualties, he failed. He was naive to think it was possible."

A short pause on her otherwise graceful exit.

"And it would do you well not to approach me in the future, Black Knight, unless you want your head shot clean off."

The half-breed sighed in relief as she sat down the riverbed of a cool, clear stream, enjoying it's refreshing feeling on her tired body. It wasn't a warm bath that she wanted, but if it cleaned her up, she was okay with it, and honestly the cold water really helped with a few sores she was having. Her clothes and blindfold lay by the river bank near her, as were her weapons; a bow, her quiver of arrows, a small sword, about 5 inches blade-length ending with a hooked tip on the beveled side of the blade, presumably used for hooking into the flesh. Her leather armor hung by a low hanging branch of tree by the stream, oiled and waxed. The old couple that lived in the shack was more than happy to let her wash up, not paying much heed to her appearance.

"Old age catching up with their sight perhaps." she mumbled to herself as she scrubbed herself down, the clear, flowing water becoming lightly dirtied, discolored by grime, dirt, and blood, before eventually being washed away downstream.

When her washing was done, she shifted her attention to her dirty clothes and placed them into the water, doing her best to rinse out all the sweat, dirt, and the smell from it. When she was finally satisfied, she took them up, got out from the stream and made her way towards the tree to hang the rest of her clothes. She eventually made her way back into the water and gave herself yet another scrub down.

Her body was littered with scars, ranging in size and definition. Along her spine are tufts of fur that ends by the small of her back. Her shoulders also have the same fur on them. When she was as clean as she could be, she waited until the water settled enough for her to look at her own reflection. Her wet hair now looked darker thanks to the water, her amber-yellow eyes staring back at her, before droplets of water from her hair and nose fell onto the water, causing ripples to distort her reflection. She closed her eyes, leaned back while submerging herself into the water, allowing her fur tipped, elven shaped ears to be enveloped by water and drowning out all the sounds around her.

For a moment she fell into a trance, a meditation. Shifting through memories; everything she'd ever done while in the wildlands, every single kill she's ever made, the scents she smelled, her family, and then... a white door. Cautiously, she took a step towards it, as just like all the other times she's ever done this, everything went silent. The memories disappeared, and everything became dark, with the white door as the sole shining beacon in the dark. Each step she took reverberated and echoed through this endless space. As she reached to open the door, it creaked open. Pulling the door open, the half-breed stood in terror as a wave of shadows surged forward, smothering her in its suffocating embrace.

She lurched forward from the water, panting in terror as she clutched her heart. She sat still for a moment, before she got up, this time with the intent to get dressed. Her clothes were dry enough to wear, just a tinge of dampness. As she put them on, to her satisfaction, the clothes didn't seem to smell anymore. She smiled a little as she tightened the leather armor around her, which was short-lived as she picked up her blindfold and stared at it for a moment.

After a considerable amount of time, she finally wrapped them around her eyes and head.

The ranger walked into the shack, nodded her thanks to the elderly couple, who were unreasonably cheerful. "We sure hope the stream was nice to soak in, dearie."

"Very much so. Thank you." she replied with a small smile, before walking out into the streets again. Now that she was clean and rested, she could go back out into the wilderness again.

Would you allow me to help?"

"Understandable that demon is the reason I don't plan to leave yet, despite John telling me to do so, and your help will be appreciated." Nero said biting his thumbnail as he spoke. "And before I forget, please don't treat me like I'm a Black Knight. I maybe the son of their late captain but that's all the relations I really have with them." he added taking his thumb away from his mouth. "Back to the subject of the demon, I haven't fought one personally but I did see what a demon is capable of doing. I'll have to find both the demon and the victims before it's too late." he pointed out placing his hand over his the scar on his chest as though it was starting to burn him each time he thought about the creature of Anti-Aether.

Setting his hand back down to his side Nero stepped out of the side street 'I just hope I can find the demon, before it can get to uncle John.' he thought following Celica to the Blacksmith lightly adjusting his sword so it once again sat comfortably on his hip. As he moved along Nero began to take notice of the loud clanging signalling to him the blacksmith was nearby. Parting ways with the priestess stating that he meet her at the temple later before vanishing through the door.

"Maybe if I can do more then just help... It's possible that if I get close enough... But will I be able to even touch it? Will it even work on a demon like it can monsters?" he mumbled to himself as he began removing the platemail arm. "Doesn't look like it needs repairs." the blacksmith stated causing Nero to shake his head. "No I'm hoping you can adjust it so it's more secure on my arm while I'm moving." he said doing his best to explain the problems the armor piece had and which spots he was concerned about.

"Right then come back in afew hours this should be done by then."

After thanking the blacksmith Nero walked headed back to the street where he noticed a patch of darkness sitting in one of the side streets 'Odd I could have sworn I saw that thing pulsing.' Keeping the patch of shadows in the corner of his eyes Nero began to walk towards a book store he saw a short ways back stopping only when he noticed that the patch was moving along with him faintly pulsating as it followed. 'What ever that is, it's following me , or it wants my attention.' turning to a side street Nero started to pick up his pace weaving in and out of alley ways in fruitless attempts to shake the shadowy pursuer, until he found himself cornered.

"You finally stopped, although it took me cornering you into a dead end to get you to that point."

Looking back where he heard the voice that sounded eerily close to his own with a tinge of maliciousness tied in Nero saw a sight that would almost frighten a normal man. Growing out of the shadow that was pursuing him Nero watched as what he could only describe as a doppelganger emerged his sickly light grey skin red eyes in the center of pitch black sclera and cream colored hair stood in stark contrast to Nero's own lightly tanned skin, sky blue eyes and brown hair.

"Frightening sight isn't it, I honestly don't know what my master was thinking when he decided to create me from your blood because he thought you might end up being a threat but I can't argue with his decisions now."

The doppelganger grinned in a near menacing fashion as he spoke an action that sent chills up and Down Nero's spine. "Oh but where are my manners, my name is Weiss and I was created from your blood as a way of making sure you don't ruin my masters plans too badly." Weiss bowed although he never once took his red eyes off of Nero. "Also I came to warn you that the demon your looking for has taken notice of the Black Knight that has came to town and fully intends to add their power to it's own."

Wandering why Weiss would freely divulge information like this Nero went to ask, only to find that the doppelganger vanished with in a blank of an eye.

Opening a notebook book Gaelin began to scribble some notes inside all the while mumbling about mixing different elemental magics for a much stronger spell. "Right Fire and lightning is no good... Fire and Wind on the other hand, they can make a flaming tornado that will either cause major damage to my targets, or it can backfire during it's creation... really only one way to find out." he continued mumbling as he scribbled several incantation possibilities in an attempt to find a good combination of words to summon the spell.

Setting the quill down Gaelin let the ink dry before shutting the book and turning his attention towards the tart that had just been set in front of him. "What is this is this pastry supposed to be sour? It's my understanding that tart means sour am I mistaken?" he asked in confusion as he poked an inquisitive finger at the small pastries. "If your not satisfied I'll return your order and give you a full refund." the waitress said reaching for the plate only to have Gaelin quickly grab it. "I never said I'm not satisfied with my order!" he declared biting into one of tarts in front of him, with a shocked yet pleased expression the elf began to devour what remained on his plate.

Once done with his food Gaelin left his payment on the table and made his way to the door. Outside the elf began reaching for his notebook once more until the sight of a whit haired half-elf caught his eyes 'how curious I didn't think I'd see a half breed wandering around these parts.' he thought following the girl to slough shack he waited outside for her to re-emerge so he could take his chance and ask questions and satiate his curiosity.

Scribbling in his notebook again Gaelin sat around for what felt like hours until the half-breed finally came back out onto the streets. "Excuse me young one but can I take some of your time?!" he called out waving his hands towards her. "I can see you have no human blood in your body. So would you mind telling me who you are and what brings you to a human settlement such as this?"

"Understandable that demon is the reason I don't plan to leave yet, despite John telling me to do so, and your help will be appreciated. And before I forget, please don't treat me like I'm a Black Knight. I maybe the son of their late captain but that's all the relations I really have with them." Celica nodded in response to Nero's disclaimer of the Black Knights. While the Black Knights were certainly alive and well as she found out today, their original purpose had long since ended. Speaking of which, Celica couldn't get that half-breed out of her head. She had shown so much resentment and anger that Celica couldn't help but wonder what had caused her to feel so strongly.

"Back to the subject of the demon, I haven't fought one personally but I did see what a demon is capable of doing. I'll have to find both the demon and the victims before it's too late."

"Agreed. The longer it takes to find, the stronger it's going to become. We should waste no time and look for it as soon as possible. You clearly have some errands to attend to, so I'll allow you to finish those. When you're done, meet me at the temple and we begin the search." Celica left Nero at the Blacksmith and made her way back to the temple. She was immediately swarmed by a horde of priests and clerics all asking her dozens of the same kind of questions. She first tried to speak over them, but noticing she wasn't getting anywhere, she slammed her staff on the stone floor causing a loud reverberating clang to reverberate in the main hall.

"Now that I have your attention, I already met with the Black Knight in question. He didn't indicate whether he would visit or not, but if he does, assist him with whatever he needs. I would do it myself, but a more pressing matter as shown itself. Holly, Barnabas. Come with me please. The rest of you carry on with your duties." The crowd slowly dispersed in different directions leaving Celica and those she called out behind. She led them to the back of the temple before closing the door to her meeting room.

"I called for you since you're two of the best we have at the temple. I found out from the Black Knight that there is a demon victimizing people here in Fathrial." Both showed varying degrees of shock. Holly was a woman in her mid-twenties with a medium height and short brown hair. Barnabas was a tall skinny man with a shaved head. He was approaching his late forties, and gray was beginning to show in what little hair he had.

"Wait, how long has this been going on without our knowledge? Surely we would have noticed if a demon was mass murdering people?" Holly inquired slightly skeptical. Celica couldn't blame her. If it hadn't been the Black Knight who told her, she wouldn't have believed it herself.

"Is this connected to those disappearances we've been getting lately? For example, the young woman crying hysterically for her child that had vanished into thin air?" Barnabas mused thoughtfully.

"I am afraid so. This demon is being cautious. They're taking their time. It would have taken dozens more disappearances before we would have noticed anything amiss. Regardless, a swordsmen will be stopping by the temple some time later, and we plan to go track down the demon. In the meantime, I called you two to help me approximate the location of its lair in the city. I just need you two to maintain the circle while I extend my senses to look for it. Let's get to it."

The three servants of the Divines set to work drawing the circle and preparing the proper materials for maintaining the magic circle. Barnabas and Holly sat on opposite ends outside of the circle while Celica situated herself in the center. She held her staff horizontally in both hands with her eyes closed.

"Ready?" she called out. When she heard confirmation from both Holly and Barnabas, she twisted the staff in her hands before slamming it down in front of her vertically causing it and the circle to glow a light yellow color. It took over two hours of scouring the city to locate a small bubble of evil energy over in the administrative side of town. It probably would have taken less time, but she had found a spike of evil energy in an alley, but as quickly as it appeared, it was gone. She had wasted time combing that area only to come up with nothing. Even after finding the approximate location of the demon, she couldn't pinpoint its exact location, but it was better than nothing.

Celica took the time to thank Barnabas and Holly for assisting her despite their busy schedules, and spent the rest of her time bidding her time with various duties while she waited for Nero to reappear.

Heading back to the blacksmith Nero began to really chew on his nails switching fingers each time he felt the tips of one finger come into contact with his teeth. 'I don't know if I should trust that Weiss, but I can't shake the feeling that he was telling the truth.' he thought fishing out a few gold coins and paying the smith who in turn retrieved the piece of armor Nero left for repairs. And after a short conversation about different kinds of metals and their properties Nero left the building mounting the piece of armor as he walked breaking into a light jog when he got the piece securely set on his arm.

As he made his way to the temple to meet up with Celica Nero noticed a familiar orange haired elf conversing with the white haired half-elf who passed by earlier. But rather then stop Nero walked by with a brief yet curt nod in Gaelin's direction while doing his best not to look towards the girl fearing she might actually try to kill him if he did, once he went past the two Nero broke into a quick dash, moving in the direction he was certain the temple was. Upon reaching the main street Nero began to ask about for directions.

"The temple just head down this street and you should be able to see it straight away can't miss it."

Following the directions he was given Nero was able to make it to the temple bursting through the doors with enough force he almost caused them to fly off their hinges. "Excuse me sire but if you need help I'll be willing to..." one of the clerics began causing Nero to turn to them "Has Johnathan arrived here?" he asked only to receive a confused look in response. 'Right I suppose they would only know his name if I said he was the Black Knights captain before saying Johnathan.' he thought letting loose a deep sigh as he began to rephrase his question. "Has the Black Knight arrived?" he stated looking around to see if he could find Celica.

"I'm afraid not Sire. Why were you wanting to speak with the Black Knight. You can wait here if you'd like."

Once again bringing his hand up to his mouth Nero noticed he had left his finger nails as nubs and put it back to his side. 'He should have came here first... Dammit John now I really need to find this demon before it's too late.' As he was about to walk back out the door he turned to the priest "If you don't mind would you send Miss Celica out? I'll wait on the steps so if the Black Knight arrive I'll be able to see him." he stated walking down and sitting on the bottom step.

"Seems that the young man I met last night is in a bit of a rush... Rather curious behavior I would think." Gaelin remarked watching as Nero ran off towards the main street without even stopping for a simple 'hello' only a simple nod of acknowledgment.

"Any way I am Gaelin Xyrneiros, and I'm here to try the human cuisine funny they live such short lives yet create such delectable foods, also I'm looking for fault lines locations that are brimming with Aether. And I have indeed heard that there is a Black Knight in town, I've even met their captain in my travels before he dropped out of the public eye. Shame he had to be born in a time where a war between our races was inevitable." Gaelin said as his ears drooped near the end only to perk back up.

"Now then which clan do you hail from?" He asked placing one hand on his chin as he examined her, while he waved the fingers on his other hand around mumbling a silent incantation this caused faint sparks to form between the tips of each finger. "Why are you wearing that blind fold? ending the incantation with the question Gaelin stopped waving his fingers which caused the sparks that were flying in between his finger tips to fade making the air near him to become slightly warmer not unbearably that it was uncomfortable but warmer all the same. "Where do you plan to go once you Leave?" after Gaelin asked the final question he opened the notebook and bega flipping through pages looking for a empty page"I should get a new journal eventually I'm running out of room in this one" he mumbled to himself as he began to scribble some notes down.

Celica was examining a map of the city when she received a knock on her door. She was circling dead ends and shady spots in the administrative district hoping to narrow down further the location of the demon. The first knock on the door slipped her mind as she focused in on the center of the district. Another more incessant knock echoed through the room and she sighed.

"What is it?" she called slightly annoyed at being broken out of her thoughts.

"A young swordsman is here to see you, milady. He was asking about the Black Knight and then he asked for you when he found out he wasn't here. " Nero. In her determination to vanquish the demon threat, she had completely forgotten about the very ally she had gained her quest from. She opened the door and stepped out into the hall grabbing her staff on her way out.

"Thank you for informing me. You can be on your way now." Celica kept an even pace; her priestess robes and long blonde hair billowing behind her. Her staff announced her presence before she spoke with its consistent taps on the stone flooring. She spotted Nero lounging on the steps of the temple with his back turned toward her. She noticed his wild brown hair splayed out along his shoulders as well as the new piece of armor. She stopped behind him and called out to him.

"Nero, I see you have found the temple. Welcome," She smiled gently meaning her words, but quickly turned her attention back to the matter at hand. "I heard you that you had asked for Johnathan. He has not been here I'm afraid. However, I have some good news. Instead of sitting idly for either you or Johnathan to arrive, I took it upon myself to try to be more productive. I managed to narrow down the demon's location to the administrative district which is not too far from where we are now. It's not a lot to go off of, but it's better than combing the entirety of Fathrial." Celica shifted her staff to her other hand and stepped down the stairs a ways before turning back towards Nero.

"I know you want to see Johnathan, but he wouldn't approve of you going to slay the demon. Our best bet is probably tracking it now since it's still daylight. Once night falls, it will be roaming and significantly harder to catch. Wouldn't you agree?"

"Nero, I see you have found the temple. Welcome,"

Once Celica's words reached Nero's ears he turned his attention away from looking for his godfather. "Sort of hard to miss it. After all it's by far the tallest building I've seen in the city." he said jokingly.

It's not a lot to go off of, but it's better than combing the entirety of Fathrial." As Celica spoke Nero quickly became more serious.

"I know you want to see Johnathan, but he wouldn't approve of you going to slay the demon. Our best bet is probably tracking it now since it's still daylight. Once night falls, it will be roaming and significantly harder to catch. Wouldn't you agree?"

"No it's not just that I wanted to see Johnathan..." Nero started pondering his words as he spoke. "Ever since he told me about the letter something hasn't really been sitting right with me." he said trying to find the right words. "Well I think I understand why my gut didn't sit well with it all..." letting his words sink in for a moment Nero took a deep breath.

"I'll skim over what we know, Johnathan received a letter from an unknown source, people have gone missing, and there is an unknown entity stalking the streets at nigh." again he let his words sink in while he turned in the direction he was sure the administrative district was sitting in. "Now this might just be me breathing hot air but... I think Johnathan might be walking into a trap, no one knows what the demon really looks like. So who's to say it won't change it's form to look like a human?" as he walked Nero gripping the hilt of his sword. "And if no body can differentiate the demon from other humans then they walk right into the demon's trap... Just like Johnathan might be doing if he hasn't already."

Picking up the pace Nero kept making his way towards the administrative district, lightly pushing individuals to the side when they got in his way, and side stepping carts when he noticed them. Then after a few minutes of silence Nero tried to think of how to explain the run in he had with Weiss. 'Oh and by the way I figured all this out after i ran into my demon doppelganger... no that would make me sound crazy.' he thought shaking still having a hard time believing it himself even though Weiss stood right in front of him not that long ago.

Watching Lyern's confused expression Gaelin gave a small understanding smile while setting his note book back into his shoulder bag though that too seemed to only last a moment when she explained her lineage. "Ah I see one of the Azathas clan. I never really under stood them or their hatred of the Black Knights, or humans for that matter. Personally I thought the whole Blood War was meaningless." Shaking as he thought back.

As they continued walking Lyern mention how she didn't want to touch on the topic of her blind fold. "Fair enough I suppose everybody has a secret they want to keep to themselves." he said despite his ears still twitching at the idea of a mystery that he would uncover in time.

"Seems like you're anxious to leave." Gaelin said observing Lyern's actions. "However I must now ask. Aren't you curious as to why that boy was in such a rush? There's something about that boy though I can't put my finger on it." he added rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "I feel like where ever he goes there is bound to be some kind of adventure. Perhaps the Aether is drawn to him though I must admit he doesn't strike me as some one capable of using it." He mumbled shrugging as he looked back towards Lyern. "We'll never know right?" Waving his fingers again the heat around Gaelin dispersed allowing the cool breeze through.

"No it's not just that I wanted to see Johnathan... Ever since he told me about the letter something hasn't really been sitting right with me. Well I think I understand why my gut didn't sit well with it all..." Celica furrowed her brow at Nero's words. Ah right. Johnathan had mentioned a letter in his passing. She hadn't given it much thought at the time, but now that he mentioned it the situation did seem a bit odd.

"I'll skim over what we know, Johnathan received a letter from an unknown source, people have gone missing, and there is an unknown entity stalking the streets at night. Now this might just be me breathing hot air but... I think Johnathan might be walking into a trap, no one knows what the demon really looks like. Just like Johnathan might be doing if he hasn't already."

Celica wrung her staff in her hands in thought as she considered what Nero had to say. Part of her was slightly skeptical. Johnathan was the leader of the Black Knights. Surely such a capable man could take care of himself even if he did walk into a trap. On the other hand, Celica could not ignore the strong conviction Nero was emitting over the safety of one of his close friends. Even if he was being paranoid, his worry for Johnathan was moving to say the least.

"Well, we don't really have any evidence for anything you say, but I will say that being safe rather than sorry is certainly a better path then ignoring the possibility- Hey, wait!" The young cleric reached her hand out as Nero swiftly took off on ahead without another word. Not wasting any time, she hiked up her robes with one hand and firmly gripped her staff in other taking off after him. However, she was quickly losing ground as he weaved through crowds and dodged carts. Her smaller stature certainly put her in a disadvantage with crowds. She did her best, but was quickly losing him as he pulled further on ahead.

"Wait you fool! I had to direct you to the blacksmith! What makes you think you can find the administrative district yourself!?" she growled out in frustration.

"Wait you fool! I had to direct you to the blacksmith! What makes you think you can find the administrative district yourself!?" Although he didn’t want to admit it Nero knew Celica was right. However, that fact didn’t quite stop the young warrior, rather he simply slowed down enough to allow her to catch up. ”True I’m not really accustomed to the layouts of large cities like my father would’ve been. I was raised in the forest on the other side of the Sliventra mountain range.” he said looking over his shoulder towards her shooting the kindest smile he could muster in her direction.

”Dangerous place if I had to describe it, not exactly a place you go to for an afternoon stroll, and living there is probably harder than what you’d find in places on this side of the mountains.” Nero added before shaking his head causing his hair to whip about in a sporadic manner. ”But that’s beside the point we need to hurry before Johnathan is turned into a demon himself, and I give my word that I will do all I can for the people that the demon had taken before now.” Nero added lightly pushing to the side people who would get in his way.

’But Johnathan is really the only person tied to my past that I have left in this world. I just can’t lose him.’ Nero thought as he looked towards the sky to gauge how much time has passed. ”Two hours past noon we really need to hurry if we’re to have any chance of finding the demon before night falls.” he stated rubbing his eyes when he looked back down. ”and still no sign of Johnathan
was Weiss, right?” Nero mumbled to himself as he looked down several alley ways he would come across on his way to the administrative district. ’But why tell me about this plan?’ as he let his thought mull over Nero could feel his feet get pulled out from under his body, and in an instant, he found himself looking straight towards the sky while gravity pulled him down causing Nero’s head to bounce slightly when he hit the ground with a sickening thud.

Gasping for air the grounded Nero attempted to scramble to his feet, at the same time he could feel something tightening around his legs pulling him towards the shadows. ”Crap
” was all that Nero could say before freeing his sword from its scabbard once he felt what seemed to be a tail like appendage. ’Where? Either I found the demon, or Weiss told it I was going to hunt it down.’ he thought swiping his sword down at his feet as the appendage began to tug the young warrior towards the sun deprived alley way. Unable to find purchase on the unseen adversary all Nero could do was leave a light cut, not even deep enough illicit a reaction from the unseen assailant. And in a matter of seconds Nero was pulled into the shadows and pinned upside down to the closest wall.

”Looksss like there's afew powerful people in thisss city recently, first a Black Knight and now a boy with an irresistible scent to him.” the figure hissed in Nero’s ear as it wrenched the sword from his hand. ”I wonder are you as powerful as the Black Knight who made hisss way to town hall?” it hissed again as its tail loosened though not before it grabbed hold of Nero’s head flipping him over allowing his blood to distribute even throughout his body once again.

Cursing himself out Nero slowly attempted to lift his arm hoping to pry himself free from his captor. ”Look I doubt I can measure up to a Black Knight
especially if you were able to catch me off guard so easily.” he stated hoping that the demon would think it was true. ”So if you could find it in yourself to just let me go I promise I won’t say a word about you making this city you nest.” he added with mock fear in his voice. ”Hmm yess I can see it was rather easy for me to catch you even though you smell powerful it was far too easy.” Nero could hear the demon cackle as it began to lift him even higher on the wall. ”But I can’t let you go after all you already know I’m here and you could just go and tell that Black Knight you had a run in with me. No, I have different plans you’re going to be a part of my growing army.”

’I doubt that’s going to happen.’ Nero though when he finally got his hands around the demon’s wrist. ”Actually I hate to tell you this but you’re going to find it impossible to make me into a demon.” he stated tightening his grip until his right arm began to emit a faint blue glow forcing the demon to howl in pain dropping the young warrior only to realize that Nero had not yet let go.

”Damn you that burns release me now!” it howled trying to wrench it’s arm away from Nero’s iron grip. ”And give you a chance to escape and continue kidnapping people no way. What kind of person would I be if I allowed that.” Nero said with a low growl not realizing that the demon’s tail had wrapped around the hilt of his sword. ”No please I promise I’ll release everyone I took, I’ll even leave town once they’re free.” it stammered keeping Nero’s sword out of his view.

”Again I’m not going to let that happen instead why don’t you stay still the burning will vanish once I’m done.” Nero stated tightening his grip to the point any kind of movement would back the demon’s bones. ”Figured that would be your answer too bad!” it said and with a blur of movement Nero’s sword had wedged itself into the demon’s arm and with a pained grin the demon effectively gotten free before disappearing further into the alley way leaving behind it’s arm and Nero’s sword.

”Dammit if only I saw what it was doing.” Nero growled tossing the severed arm to the side and picking up his sword. ”Well it’s not a total loss all we need to do now is find the blood it leaves behind and find it’s lair.” As he spoke Nero let out a deep sigh of relief ’Also the knowledge that Johnathan is safe now is quite a heavy load off my shoulders.’ Sheathing his sword Nero quickly made his way out of the alley. Once on the main street Nero sat down leaning his head against a barrel of water. ”I don’t know how long it’ll take for the demon to regrow that arm or how long it’ll take for its bleeding to stop but for now I really need to take a breather.” he said to himself though quick yet nervous breaths.

watching the Half breed girl make her way to the cities entrance Gaelin gave a short farewell. "May your travels be filled with light young one!" he declared walking in the opposite direction.

As Gaelin moved through the city he asked afew people if they saw a young man with mostly brown hair and a white patch had passed by. "Yeah he and the priestess Celica came by not that long ago headed towards the administrative district." an elderly human said pointing in the direction the two had apparently left for. "Thank you you help is much appreciated." Gaelin said with a slight bow before heading off in the direction the man pointed.

'Let's see he said they headed this way but why? Does that young man intend to become a citizen of this bustling city? O is there something more to it then what's presented at a glance?' As Gaelin continued to walk doing his best to avoid running into people. Until he noticed Nero walk out of an alley way nearly stumbling at the end only to sit down and rest his head on a water barrel. "You look like you had a tough day. Care to indulge me in a bit of conversation before you continue on your way?" he asked moving to the opposite side of Nero.

Celica was breathing heavily by the time she caught up to Nero. She could feel sweat dripping down her back from the exertion. Needless to say, she was not used to such exercise.

”True I’m not really accustomed to the layouts of large cities like my father would’ve been. I was raised in the forest on the other side of the Sliventra mountain range.” Her anger faltered slightly at the smile he flashed at her. Only slightly.

"Hmph. Well, at least you listened to me. This way." She pointed down a street and started moving in that direction. She listened to him as he told of his homeland. Odd. She had never heard of such a place. Why someone would choose to live let alone raise a family in such a dangerous place was far beyond her comprehension. She patiently listened to Nero's complaints about running out time.

"Don't fret over the time limit. We'll find him-" she assured him, but before she could continue, a noise interrupted her followed by Nero gasping for air and being dragged away on the ground.

"Nero!" She gave chase after the appendage pulling the swordsman away into the shaded alleyway, and faltered slightly at the demon taking up the majority of the space in the passageway. It currently held Nero upside down and trapped against the wall. It was completely engrossed with the conversation it was having with Nero and hadn't seemed to realize she was there. Celica set to work preparing a holy spell to repel the demon, and hopefully unhand Nero before it was too late. However, before she could unleash the growing ball of blinding yellow light accumulating on her staff, she watched in awe as Nero grabbed the demon's arm and emitted a bright blue light. Her focus faltered as Nero forced the demon to retreat. She watched it slash through its own limb and quickly flee.

Wasting no time, she approached her ally. Celica was left baffled as Nero spoke of pursuing the injured demon overlooking the fact he just injured a greater demon with his bare hands. She raised her staff and laid the top on his shoulder. She closed her eyes and quickly administered a basic novice level healing spell in order to restore his lost energy and any scrapes he might have acquired.

"Are you not going to explain what in the Divines' names that blue glow was?" Before she could get an answer another voice joined the mix.

"You look like you had a tough day. Care to indulge me in a bit of conversation before you continue on your way?" Celica gave the pompous elf man an annoyed glare. Before Nero could respond, Celica cut in sharply.

"Apologies, sir. However, we are in a hurry and don't have time for idle chitchat." Without another word she grabbed Nero by the arm and urged him forward towards the administrative district. They were not far now.

"Are you not going to explain what in the Divines' names that blue glow was?"

Letting out an exhausted sigh Nero glanced at Celica before looking at his arm when he noticed her get annoyed when Gaelin spoke up. And before he could even start to speak he was being urged to move on. "Hey slow down I was just man handled by that demon not that long ago. So my legs are still fairly shaky even though you did heal the minor damages done." Nero said before cupping his hands and filling them with water. "As for that blue glow I can't say myself it's just something that happens each time I come into contact with blighted creatures, or beings in that demon's case. I have no clue what happens after the glow because usually afterwords I end up bed ridden." as he spoke Nero splashed his face with the cold water shivering when it hit his skin.

"But all the same I have no clue what happens when the glow starts, although many people who have been terrorized by monsters did tell me that the monsters somehow reverted back to their non-blighted counterparts." Nero added standing still for a second as the vision in his right eye cleared. "Long story short the glow is an involuntary effect that happens each time I come into contact with a corrupted creature, and it's possible that the glow has something to do with reversing the corruption spreading across the land. Or it's something else entirely."

All this time Gaelin listened nodding his ears twitching in interest this caused Nero to smirk in amusement "That's interesting to hear." the elf stated following the duo as they moved through the streets. "Well young man you interested me. Now i really need to study you maybe see if I can discern what kind of magic lies dormant inside you." It was rather unsettling for Nero to hear that he was going to be the subject of study to some crazy elf so rather than answer he simply gave a strained smile and nodded. 'Gods what am I getting myself into first a demon believes it can change me. Now an elf who I have no clue as to how old he really is is going to make me the center of his research, and will possibly follow me until I he's satisfied.' With a heavy sigh Nero began walking in the direction Celica was urging him towards.

While he was walking to the administrative district Nero began to rub his right eye noticing how there was still some blood left over from rinsing his face off with the water. "Lack of sight on the right side... I might as well be a sitting duck." he grumbled under his breath doing his best to clean his vision before he ran into someone who might be important. But his attempt ended up with the opposite out come with several times he nearly got hit by a merchants who came along on Nero's right side.

Seeing the young warrior almost get broad sided on his right side several times now Gaelin decided to step up next to the half blind warrior. "Are you half blind and just really good at hiding it, or is there something in your eye making it hard for you to see?" the elf asked as he steered Nero away from a carriage approaching from the right side. "Actually this is a side effect of my coming into contact with corruption. Simply put it's one of the less lethal things that can happen to me should I run into corrupted monsters, or other creatures." Nero said as he continued to rub his eye. "But I have to meet up with Johnathan before that demon does. Even if I my right eye is filled with blood." he stated moving his hand back to his side and picking up the pace he was walking, but he was forced to keep his right eye closed to avoid people questioning how he was able to get blood in it.

"So Celica er... I mean Miss Celica. Where would a Black Knight like Johnathan go to when he enters a district such as the administrative district?" Nero asked moving closer to Celica. "I mean are there any places where people like him would go to to avoid being mobbed by practically everybody in town?" He clarified doing his best not to force the priestess to pick up her pace.

Weiss

Moving silently Weiss approached the dismembered demon. "Didn't our master warn you, to specifically avoid making contact with that boy?" He stated with a low grown observing the low leveled demon nurse it's self inflicted wound. "Well even our master can't account for stupidity, honestly I thought that making a demon out of a book keeps assistant would be at least a bit smarter." he growled stamping his foot against the dirt he stood only grinning when he saw the demon shrink out of fear of being in his presence.

"I'm sorry sir it's just that boy's scent was too irresistible to ignore. I thought if I could make him one of us he could make the corruption spread even faster." the demon squeaked as it tried to shrink away from the much stronger demon.

"I suppose since you understand who to look out for, you should be able to continue, after all the Master has some kind of plan for you." Weiss said as the shadows began to coalesce around his form giving the human like demon a much more menacing appearance. "But I will say this, you will be on your own from here on out one mistake will be your last. I'm off to expand our armies by using the seed our master entrusted to me." once the shadows had completely surrounded him the location Weiss was standing in was left empty.

"Hey slow down I was just man handled by that demon not that long ago. So my legs are still fairly shaky even though you did heal the minor damages done."

"Apologies. But, we really shouldn't be wasting any time. That demon is still lurking around and until we find Johnathan, he's still at large as well." Regardless of her haste, she released Nero's arm.

"As for that blue glow I can't say myself it's just something that happens each time I come into contact with blighted creatures, or beings in that demon's case. I have no clue what happens after the glow because usually afterwords I end up bed ridden." Celica's brow furrowed as she listened to Nero's explanation. It was unlike anything she had ever seen or heard before. As a priestess, she had come into contact with many different supernatural afflictions and diseases the result of the Blight. However, she had never seen such a glow, and it had severely wounded the demon no less.

"But all the same I have no clue what happens when the glow starts, although many people who have been terrorized by monsters did tell me that the monsters somehow reverted back to their non-blighted counterparts.Long story short the glow is an involuntary effect that happens each time I come into contact with a corrupted creature, and it's possible that the glow has something to do with reversing the corruption spreading across the land. Or it's something else entirely."

"Hmmm...." Celica faltered slightly in her steps listening to the second half of his explanation. Reverse the corruption... She couldn't deny that whatever that ability was did severely damage the demon, and yet...

"You say that it could reverse the corruption, but nothing before has been found or seen to do such a thing. No level of healing magic has managed to even offset even a fraction of the blight." She paused for a moment and turned her head in Nero's direction.

"However, your ability is clearly unique and unlike anything else in the world. Regardless of what the nature of it is, the Divines clearly have their eye on you, and who am I to deny their will?" she smiled lightly before pressing on.

"That's interesting to hear. Well young man you interested me. Now i really need to study you maybe see if I can discern what kind of magic lies dormant inside you." Celica's brow twitched at the sound of the elf's voice. Apparently he was still intent on following despite her dismissal. As they continued to walk, she noticed Nero rubbing his eye and apparent blood on his face. Odd. Her healing spell took care of his other wounds, so how could she have missed such an obvious injury. The elf man continued to pursue and pestered Nero with sarcasm about his current lack of sight. She was preparing a sharp retort when Nero cut her off.

"Actually this is a side effect of my coming into contact with corruption. Simply put it's one of the less lethal things that can happen to me should I run into corrupted monsters, or other creatures. But I have to meet up with Johnathan before that demon does. Even if I my right eye is filled with blood." Understanding dawned on Celica. No wonder it wasn't healed. Corruption damage cannot be undone. However, he had clearly dealt with this before, and yet he was perfectly in tact with no visible deformities, so how was it that he was healing from such corruption?

"So Celica er... I mean Miss Celica. Where would a Black Knight like Johnathan go to when he enters a district such as the administrative district? I mean are there any places where people like him would go to to avoid being mobbed by practically everybody in town?" The priestess snapped back into the current situation redirecting her thoughts to Nero's question. She placed her free hand on her chin as she considered the different paths and areas of the administrative district.

"Celica is fine. No need for formalities. As far as avoiding the townspeople, I suppose he could have taken the back alleys, but there are plenty of people filtering through those as well. I guess if he really was looking to avoid people he would have taken the underground waterways."

"Celica is fine. No need for formalities. As far as avoiding the townspeople, I suppose he could have taken the back alleys, but there are plenty of people filtering through those as well. I guess if he really was looking to avoid people he would have taken the underground waterways."

Raising an eyebrow Nero had a confused look on his face. "Waterways? Didn't expect that, but I suppose it would make sense, people rarely have reasons to enter." he said thoughtfully before he started to rub his eye again. "That would also explain how the demon wasn't found until it decided to try and attack me." he added piecing what he had learned together as though he were solving a mystery.

Gaelin listened intently as the young warrior conversed with the priestess. "That sounds plausible a demon does need to move in secret to avoid panic." the elf said voicing his own opinion on the matter ears twitching during the talk of demons and under ground waterways not knowing the extent of what the demon was doing in a city like this without raising alarm.

Though Nero couldn't quite see what was going on with the elf he could tell by his tone he he didn't quite understand. "Right I suppose you weren't here when John mentioned the demon. Well to bring you up to speed the current Black Knight captain received a letter describing what I originally thought were people running away, at least he mentioned how the letter continued on to describe a shadowy figure that could only be described as a demon." he stated blinking afew times to flush some of the blood out of his eye.

"Well needless to say I had an extremely close encounter with said demon, and as far as to how I would describe it... Well I'd have to say it's very much humanoid but as far as race I'm unsure because the demon certainly had aspects of all three known races." Nero added wiping away the blood still clinging to his cheek. "Gods every thing is just a big red blur right now. Though I suppose it's better then just a deep red blob." he sighed doing his best to avoid rubbing his eye anymore.

"Any way the waterways could be the other reason the demon was able to avoid sight. It could probably change it's form at will to blend in even more then simply clinging to the shadowy back alleys and damp waterways." At that moment Nero began to understand how hard it would be for Johnathan to find it even if he was actively searching in likely places the demon would be. 'That's why Weiss told me that the demon intended to add Johnathan's strength to their own, it's able to hide in plain sight with out any one being any wiser.' with his armored hand Nero swiftly gave himself a quick punch to the forehead leaving a bright red mark.

"Seems like you realized something you didn't think of before." Gaelin laughed watching Nero remove the fist from his head. "But did you really have to hit yourself, self harm is not really a healthy way of handling a situation." he added starring at the red mark on Nero's forehead.

With a glare towards Gaelin Nero picked up his pace. "Yeah well we need to hurry just because the demon was able to dismember itself doesn't mean it's any less threatening and for all I know it's possibly regrowing that arm it lost right now, just like a chameleon." he said with a rather low growl. "And while it's easier to track down I still have to get to Johnathan, to confirm if he's alright."

Celica listened passively as Nero and Gaelin voiced their thoughts. She had done her part, and waited patiently for Nero to make a decision.

"Yeah well we need to hurry just because the demon was able to dismember itself doesn't mean it's any less threatening and for all I know it's possibly regrowing that arm it lost right now, just like a chameleon. And while it's easier to track down I still have to get to Johnathan, to confirm if he's alright." Celica had been leaning against the wall up until this point, but as soon as the young swordsman said hurry she pushed off the wall and stepped forward.

"In that case, the nearest entrance is down this way. Follow me." Silently she walked onward not bothering to look behind her at Nero and the bizarre orange elf man. The only sound that could be heard was her staff hitting the stone beneath her and the loud hum of chatter from the crowds in the distance. After several turns through a seemingly endless maze of back alleys, she finally stopped at a small wooden door towards the outer wall of the city. Pulling it open revealed a dark stone staircase descending into pitch black darkness.

"I'll allow one of you to lead the way. I am not exactly... well-versed in combat." Celica stepped to the side and allowed Nero and Gaelin to pass in front of her. She followed close behind making sure to keep an eye behind her as they walked. The last thing they needed was to a surprise attack. There was no telling where this demon was hiding. As they went further down, she noticed an increasing amount of water and grime on the steps. Frowning, she gathered her robes and tied the ends into a knot around her ankles to keep them from dragging on the ground. When they reached the bottom, several paths branched out in front of them.

"I'm afraid this is where my navigation expertise ends. I have never been down here before, so I cannot say which is the right path."
