"He who delights in solitude is either a wild beast or a god." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

Description: Brialle can be described as a rather lean girl, and a bit petite compared to others of her age, standing at a mere five feet tall. Her bone structure is a more on the angular side, and her complexion is light. The splash of freckles on her nose faded over time, so only faint and ghostly freckles are apparent on her face. Briallen has long, slightly wavy dark hair that can either appear jet-black or as an extremely dark brown hue. Her eyes are a crisp hazel color, a brownish-gold surrounded by a thick ring of light greenish-brown, with light rays of brown among the other colors of her iris.
To be honest, Briallen isn't the one for makeup - it's almost confusing to her. She doesn't like to put stuff on her face that doesn't look perfect, just to take it off at night (plus, makeup is seriously expensive to her). It's the same thing with accessories, as well. Briallen will admit that she used to occasionally do her eyebrows and eyeliner, but that routine wore off over time.

Wing Description: Brialle's wings are feathered and powerful. When her wings are visible, they are almost brooding, giving her a more intimidating look. They are more silky rather than glossy and shiny. Briallen's wings are an overall black color, with deep iridescent purple "undertones".

Hair Color: Very dark brown

Eye Color: Hazel

Height: 5'0"

Weight: 94 lb

Ethnicity: 60% Welsh, 35% French, 5% Norwegian

Accessories: None

Piercings/Tattoos: Contrary to the picture, none.

"Dear optimist, pessimist, and realist, while you guys were arguing about the glass of water, I drank it.

Sincerely, the opportunist."

Image
Image
Personality: Briallen can be described as a tad dark. While her words and actions have a sadistic edge to them, she's not necessarily unfriendly. She's not disrespectful to everyone, but she has a tendency to be cheeky to some of her superiors. She has a nonchalant facade and always seems to keep her cool.
Briallen may not be a murderer or a serial killer, but she rarely gets unnerved by things like the Holocaust, or anything of the like. She's definitely not for it, but she could cut someone up and still keep her nonchalant demeanor. Briallen is the type of person who would make witty remarks to that one person who scares the heck out of everyone, including herself. To most, she may seem like a flippant and overly witty person who highly disrespects authority.
Despite the above description of her personality (which is all very much true), there is more to Briallen that meets the eye. Even though she isn't as moved by "touching" things as much as others (ex. not as quick to show concern, etc.), she has the ability to feel deeper emotions than what her usual nonchalance suggests. She has very few close friends, but she doesn't have the aloof, cold, and unfriendly personality that many with few friends have. Even though she's not as quick to show concern for those who are suffering, Briallen has a sense of morals, which aren't very apparent to those who don't give her a second glance. She has a sense of humility as well, but it isn't as strong as many others. Despite Briallen's cheekiness and nonchalance, she's not rude and is fairly polite to those who return the favor.
To be honest, despite her few and close friends, Briallen is a lone wolf more than anything else. She finds it a lot less complicated when you care about less people. However, if she's on your side, she's dependable enough to rely on her as a friend, ally, etc. She may have a cunning mind, and she may be a valuable person to have on your side, but she's a bit of a wild card. She's on the more uncouth and aggressive side, and she's not afraid to get her hands dirty. She's a bit cocky, and she's a reckless loose cannon who hates being somewhat of a foot soldier. She's the type of person who would toss a grenade into the most explosive thing possible while surrounded by people who hate her.

Likes and Dislikes:

βœ” Silver βœ” Flying βœ” Hot drinks βœ” Rising early βœ” Sleeping late
βœ” Bottles of dark iridescent purple nail polish
βœ” Dramatic music βœ” Dramatic action movies
βœ” Transformers Prime (the show)

✘ Coffee ✘ Sleeping in ✘ Jewelry ✘ Soda or carbonated drinks
✘ Painted nails ✘ Fancy shoes of any sorts
✘ T-shirts that cost more than $9 ✘ Pizza
✘ Mary Sues ✘ People who don't understand her viewpoint on good and evil
✘ Heavy metal ✘ Bubblegum ✘ Peppy songs
✘ People who try to be cool but fail miserably

Strengths and Weaknesses:

βœ” Can speak both fluent Welsh and English, and dabbles in German just to annoy someone to their death

βœ” Her personality may be annoying to some, but if she's not trying to annoy you off the Earth, she's pretty funny and is actually a decently valuable asset.

βœ” She has freakishly good aim.

βœ” Briallen has absolutely no problem with the solitude of roughing it out alone. She's independent - maybe too much.

✘ Her nonchalant facade and witty remarks may be incredibly annoying to their target.

✘ She can swim, but you do not want to see her attempt anything longer than a 200 meter at most. Even her 200 is miserable.

✘ She doesn't take well to authority.

✘ Despite the fact that her friends can depend on her, Briallen is a lone wolf. She has a hard time accepting the help of others.

Power:

Briallen has impeccable vision, much better than 20/20. Her vision is even better at night than it is in the day, and in the day, Briallen is like a hawk. Her hearing is slightly improved as well, but nowhere near as powerful as her eyesight. Briallen can read small print clearly from more than a mile away, but she can't see through solid objects that aren't transparent or translucent. Basically, if a giant tree is covering a sign, Briallen can't read it. However, she has a talent of being able to see the small details through minuscule gaps. Recently, Briallen has started to have better vision in a...different sense as well. More like "staring into someone's soul" rather than "I can see that from a mile away!" However, Briallen has a long way to go if she wants to perfect this power.

Fears:

Philophobia - the fear of love. This isn't really extreme for Briallen, but she despises the thought of falling in love, basically to the point of fear.
Somniphobia - the fear of sleep. For Briallen, this is incredibly mild, but she doesn't like the thought of being unaware.
Tokophobia - the fear of pregnancy. Briallen is naturally repellent to babies.

Briallen was born literally 4 seconds away from August 23rd. Her parents lived in a demon clan, a small group of demons who weren't necessarily friends, but they helped each other survive the horrors of the human world. Briallen never had the best role models growing up. Any scoffing angel from a rival clan would make some remark about how the demons were true to their name, but that wasn't the case. Everyone is Briallen's clan had a hard time, living among humans, and they were all about tough love - a lot of times without the love. It was how they were raised. A demon from Briallen's clan would be branded as Commander, Chaotic, Crazy, or Corrupted. Briallen was branded as a Chaotic. Commanders were the extremely harsh, yet completely sane ones. They had superior survival skills, high IQ, all that jazz, but they were so stiff they were almost like robots. Despite this, being branded as a Commander was the best out of the four. The Chaotic were...chaotic. They made demons' lives harder, and Briallen did this by being cheeky and witty. The Crazy were the insane ones, the ones with strong powers, but they were either totally out of their minds, or completely happy, so happy that the demons in Briallen's clan called them crazy. The Corrupted were the darker, insane ones. While the Crazy and Corrupted were both out of their minds, the Crazy were more like "cotton candy, bubblegum, yay!". The Corrupted were more like "control, hallucinations, flashes of the future". The Corrupted tended to have the strongest powers, but they were too strong for them. Briallen grew up among the Chaotic of her clan. Her parents were both Commanders, so she never saw them.

Up to the first year of kindergarten, those in Briallen's clan were taught everything possible about the human world, and how it was their homeland, yet they didn't belong there. Less than two weeks after Briallen turned 5, she was sent to kindergarten. She was immediately branded as "avoid this wacko at all costs", but she didn't care. Briallen grew up getting high grades, but in the past 5 years, she hadn't seemed to change. Briallen grew up learning English and Welsh. In high school, she started to learn German. Briallen had lived the majority of her life playing the piano and having a strong dislike for classical music. Growing up, she was sent to hunt in the wilderness (due to her eyesight and aim), and was taught to fly. She received minor swordsmanship training, starting when she was 13, like most of the Chaotic (hey, the demon clan couldn't trust her with weapons).

Near the end of freshman year, Briallen pulled a serious stunt (brace yourselves). She befriended an angel.

Not just any angel. He was from the rival clan (named Connor - not particularly important). To be honest, Briallen didn't consider him a friend, but he was a good conversationalist and reasonably friendly. He was fun-loving and didn't really care about the massive rivalry between the demon and angel clan in Gwynedd, Wales. He liked a challenge, and Briallen was a tough one. First off, she was a demon. Second, she was Chaotic. Third...she was like a friend repellent. There were many other reasons, but either way, Briallen made a friend with someone from the angel clan. That was strictly forbidden in her clan, so she was forced to be an exchange student in America. America, of all places! Briallen, being the demon she is, took it in stride, and left her country with a cheeky goodbye.

"...and that's why I only make friends with people who are athletic and popular," the older teen droned on, making dramatic hand motions. Briallen rolled her eyes at the person sitting across the aisle. He didn't notice.
You see, Briallen wasn't one of those stereotypical, spoiled, rich blonde girls who always sticks her nose up at nerds. After all, Briallen wasn't blonde. She wasn't rich, she wasn't spoiled, and she didn't expect everything to go her way. But she could try.
Briallen may be totally fine with nerds, but what really bugged her was those idiotic and oblivious dorks. The people who didn't take things seriously enough.
If you didn't know Briallen, and you just heard her say that, you would think that she was one of those uptight straight-A teacher's pets who scorned the stupid. She wasn't an uptight, straight-A teacher's pet who scorned the stupid. She was a nonchalant, straight-A loose cannon who scorned the stupid. Big difference.
Hey, despite Briallen's somewhat cocky attitude and...dark mind, she didn't take things for granted. She didn't feel guilt or regret too often, but being picky when some people are starving seems...wrong. To be honest, many people were picky, and Briallen was probably one of those many people. But it's still annoying when someone complains how school lunch is so crappy, and how they were used to soft, moist muffins, or how they didn't like fish and refused to eat it.
Briallen pressed her pencil to her notebook as the airplane started to descend. They would land in 15 minutes. Briallen grit her teeth, annoyed, as the light-haired teenage boy sitting across aisle continued to ramble on about his life. The dude sitting next to him had his earplugs on. He was still looking annoyed, but Earplugs seemed to pretty much not hear anything the dork was saying. Smart.
Briallen quickly started printing in Welsh, venting about the person across from her.

Dyna bachgen ddwl yn hynod dwp. Nid wyf yn kidding yn y lleiaf. Rhoddodd ei enw llawn a pasbort mi. Pwy sy'n gwneud hynny? Rwy'n dieithryn. Mae ganddo broblem ddifrifol. Os cafodd ei eni yn fy clan, byddai wedi cael eu taflu i mewn i'r pwll mwyndoddi ar y diwrnod cyntaf.

The idiot was English, so Briallen didn't have to worry at all. She stuffed her notebook into her bag as the plane landed. Finally.

Briallen went through Custom Services rather quickly. She headed towards the baggage claim. Hmm. She was to meet her host family here. As long as they weren't as bad as Dork, Briallen was fine. Sort of. Maybe not.
Briallen stood, bored, emitting a rather...dark demeanor. It was probably her demonic traits - humans were a different species, after all. The humans back home were pathetic, and Briallen was sure it was going to be the same in America.
Hey, she was away from her clan. That was most certainly a plus.

Briallen tapped her foot impatiently. "What the hell is taking her so long?" the demon muttered under her breath. Briallen didn't quite know who "her" was, but she had to assume that her host family would have a daughter instead of a son.
The demon's eyes roamed over the crowd of people. Her enhanced eyesight allowed her to see and read the little things. However, it didn't really matter what country someone's brochure featured.
Suddenly, Briallen noticed something. A distance away, someone was holding a sign. Briallen waited for some of the people to clear before catching a glimpse at the words.
"Altumae High Exchange Students," the dark-haired girl muttered the words under her breath, glaring at the people who gave her weird looks. "Well, there we go," Briallen remarked quietly as she picked up her suitcase.
Briallen could see the girl holding up the sign from where she was standing. Her hair was dyed a flamboyant red, and she could be described as petite (even though Briallen was sure that redhead was taller than said demon). She was probably around...5'3"? 5'4"? No matter her height, she was still about a third of a foot taller than Briallen. The hazel-eyed demon also noticed a boy...not just any boy. The girl suddenly halted, taking in a sharp breath as others looked at her weirdly. Damn, his aura was strong. The boy was unmistakably a demon.
Briallen approached the redhead briskly, only having to tilt her head up slightly to look up at her. "Briallen," she said coolly, making sure to keep watch of the demon boy out of the corner of her eye. "Samson," she added brusquely, not caring for formalities.

Briallen raised an eyebrow and turned to the new girl. Whoa. Sure, her aura wasn't as strong as the demon boy's, but Briallen was definitely sure that she wasn't human. Although real demons didn't arise from hell and follow Lucifer - whatever his name was - they all possessed some sort of darkness in their aura. Stupid humans always thought darkness represented evil, and light represented good. Not the case.
Briallen was getting off track. She knew the demon boy was demon due to that specific darkness in his aura, but the girl didn't have it. Her aura almost felt...hollow to Briallen. Not necessarily incomplete, but just...weak. Almost like the heartbeat of a dying human.
Damn, Briallen suddenly understood, even though her expression didn't reveal anything. She's a stinking angel.
Briallen narrowed her eyes at the newcomer, making sure it wasn't particularly unkind. "Briallen," she responded to the angel's greeting. "Charmed."
She extended her hand to the angel. Although you wouldn't describe the gesture as friendly, it definitely wasn't hostile. Though Briallen's dark and almost scary demeanor didn't help with the "not hostile" part.

Like moths to a flame Zeke’s fellow exchange students begin to pile in. However, he can’t help but notice a very small, insignificant, microscopic detail. None of these motherfuckers are human. It’s like his spidey senses are tripping on acid when short, dark, and demon-y strolls up, reeking of well...demon--just pure vibrating darkness in such a small being. Zeke snaps his attention to her, his eyes widening when their gazes meet and he’s greeted with something just a hair short of suspicion. Okay Zeke thinks, his eyes narrowing in intrigue. So, he’s not the only big fish in his cesspool of a pond. Fun times. He winks at her, a crooked smirk sliding onto his angular face. A glint shines in his dark hues before he snuffs it out fast enough to keep it private.

And if you think seeing his first demon outside of his family tree isn’t overwhelming enough, well, here comes another strange tingle glow climbing up his spine. It’s a very different sense than the demon girl...uh, Braillen, he remembers her saying. He makes a mental note to probe her mind later. Now his attention is pulled by the shimmering aura radiating off of another one of the students. This shit is starting to get funny. He glances at their redheaded host; clearly clueless to the fact that there are three inhumans standing here. It’s like they already have an inside joke.

"Hi everyone! My name's Calysta Ambrosia, I'm one of the exchange students."

He can’t hold in the sarcastic snort that slips when the introduction is over. It’s just too good, really. ”Que diablos?” {What the fuck?} he mumbles under his breath. He’s staring at Calysta rather intensely, but cut him some slack. To him, she’s a walking puzzle. He’s never been around such a shimmering, glow of an aura. It’s stronger than a human’s...lighter, too, but it’s not vibrating and flexing like Demon Girl. No, her vibe gleams.

β€œWhat are you?” The words come out before he’s able to stop them, but he just has to know. But then, he steals a look at Red, suddenly realizing that this is more of a later date type question.. Another mental note implants itself into Zeke’s mind. β€œSorry, I mean where are you from?” He glances at Braillen, β€œThe both of you?”

Briallen narrowed her eyes at Demon Boy. Ah, he noticed. Good. At least he wasn't stupid.
The dark-haired girl stood there for a few moments, not saying a thing, before choosing to respond. "Gwynedd, Wales," Briallen said simply. "A place of rolling green hills and absolutely no one...different." Briallen placed just enough emphasis on the last world just so Demon Boy and Angel Girl could recognize what she was hinting at, but not enough for Redhead to pick up on what Briallen was inferring. To Redhead, it would just sound like a blase, yet almost sarcastic response. But to these two?
Briallen suddenly remembered something. What are their powers? the demon thought abruptly. She hoped that neither of them had mind-reading powers of any sort, although it probably wouldn't be a big concern for her. Back in her demon clan, a Corrupted was known for having the powerful ability of reading minds. Everybody tried to keep a distance from him, as he only needed to be at most 10 feet away from someone to probe their mind. But Briallen's mind was - strangely - too chaotic for him. When he collapsed, he said something about "so dark, so cold, but it burns too much to be possible" or something like that. He was already overusing his power, anyway. His power was bound to wreak havoc on him sooner rather than later.
To put it simply, he died.
Speaking of powers, Briallen was hoping to perfect her vision, with these two around. Recently, she wasn't just restricted to the "I can see this from a mile away!" type of vision. She had started understanding people more, with more of a "staring into your soul" type of vision. Sure, Briallen had a damn long way to go, but at least she was somewhere.

Calysta shook Briallen's hand as the girl introduced herself. Calysta didn't know for sure what these two were, but if she had to guess she would say that they're demons. Of course, Calysta had never met a demon before, but she knew of them and she couldn't think of anything else that would have such a dark vibe.
Calysta could feel Briallen scrutinizing her and the boy staring at her and she assumed that they had already figured out that the only human here was the redhead.
After several seconds of silence the boy spoke up. β€œWhat are you?” Calysta raises her brow at the question and glanced at the redhead. He must have realized that he shouldn't be saying stuff like that in front of the human because he tried to cover it up.
β€œSorry, I mean where are you from?” He glanced at Briallen, β€œThe both of you?”
Briallen answered first, "Gwynedd, Wales, a place of rolling green hills and absolutely no one...different."
By the amount of emphasis the dark haired girl put on the word different, Calysta was now positive that Braillen knew that neither her nor the boy were human.
"I'm from Greece, nothing special about it either." Calysta looked Briallen in the eyes as she said this, trying to communicate to her that she understood what she had meant when she said different.

Driving in New York was nothing like driving in Arizona. The realization came to Emma quickly after she'd pulled out of the rent-a-car parking lot and had been cut off by some maniac who decided red lights didn't really apply to them. Jerk. Against all odds, thirteen near-death experiences, and a stray dog crossing in the middle of a busy street later, Emma Morrison turned the car off and let out a heavy, relieved sigh.

'Maybe I should just call an uber and deal with the rental company charges later,' she thought, taking a look around the six-seater (not including shotgun) she'd rented specifically to pick up these exchange students and sighed again, this time the sigh was long, drawn-out, and weary. She couldn't really afford to say 'no' to housing the exchange students who weren't able to find housing but she allowed herself to take a moment to lament her comfortable solitude and bid it goodbye, hoping the exchange students wouldn't have too hard of a time adjusting to her lifestyle.

"Alright," she breathed to herself, slowly removing the keys from the ignition, biding her time, "no big deal, Em, you're already here so let's just...Just do it." She steeled her resolve by flipping down the sun visor and glancing into the mirror, primping her hair and checking her makeup before finally slipping out of the car, grasping her purse and a white, cardboard sign with the words 'Altumae High' in bold, black letters, before shutting the driver's side door with an audible slam and searching the car keys for the locking mechanism, finding it and locking the car behind her as she made her way through the parking lot towards the John F. Kennedy airport, looking around wide-eyed as she took in the sights.

Five months in New York and the place still amazed her.

"It was terminal C, right?" She muttered to herself, adjusting the sign so the words could be seen clearly as she glanced around the terminal, pursing her lips and hoping to god she wasn't lost.

Zeke listens with a thick brow quirked, mild interest evident in the heat of his stare. Funny, when Moody suggested he pose as an exchange student, the last thing he expected was to meet two other inhumans. He has to admit, he’s starting to come around. He has so many questions, so much he wants to explore. What can they do? If he can manipulate the mind, what could they do? He glances over to Braillen, watching her face change as she became lost in thought. Can’t say he blames her; these are rather bizarre circumstances. That’s when he realizes that he hasn’t contributed his story yet. With all this new information coming at him so suddenly, he too, is getting lost in thought.

β€œOh yeah,” he says, distantly. β€œWell, I’m from the Dominican Republic.” How the hell would he describe it? Especially, since he’s never been to the place. Shrugging his shoulders in a rather convincing display of indifference. β€œI guess, it’s just as mundane as your countries or whatever. Moving on!” Eager to get the attention off of him, Zeke immediately makes an effort to change topics. His attention shifts to the silent redhead. β€œNot much for talking, are ya?” he quips, resisting the habit to roll his eyes. β€œSo, Miss Tour Guide, guide us.”

He’s staring at her impatiently before something else catches his attention. Another sign. But, this time, it was being held by someone a bit older. He furrows his brows, a little confused by the new sign waving in the air when they were already with someone that’s pulled that before. Nevertheless, this other woman seems far prone to talking than Little Red over here.

β€œHey look,” he says to the others as he points to the stranger with the sign. β€œThere’s another Exchange Program sign. Let’s check that shit out.”

Briallen was brought back to the present as the demon boy started speaking. "Oh yeah," he started to speak in an almost distant manner. "Well, I'm from the Dominican Republic." There was an evident pause that caught Briallen's attention. "I guess, it's just as mundane as your countries or whatever. Moving on!" Briallen quirked an eyebrow up. She wasn't stupid. She had definitely noticed the hasty way he avoided describing his country. It was like he didn't even know it.
Hypothetically, if Demon Boy was pretending to hail from the Dominican Republic, he wasn't doing a very good job. Someone with even a lick of sense would know to research the country they were pretending to be from. If Demon Boy was pretending to be from the Dominican, he was doing a shitty job of it.
But at the same time, he definitely did not seem like he was from the Dominican Republic for real.
"Not much for talking, are ya?" Demon Boy quips, his expectant gaze on the redhead. "So, Miss Tour Guide, guide us."
Briallen, like Demon Boy, was growing impatient. She looked around the airport, her eyes drawn to another Altumae High School sign. As soon as the dark-haired demon saw the sign, she did what she did best.

She ditched them.

Briallen was already heading over to the sign, the demon boy's words fading over the noise of the crowd. She approached the blonde woman holding the sign and stated her name in two brusque words. The blonde looked relatively young for an adult, but she was definitely too old to be a student. She couldn't possibly be hosting an exchange student.
