The Facade of Eden

The Facade of Eden

A group of highschool students on summer vacation think they are in for the trip of a lifetime. Instead, what lies ahead is a series of unimaginably gruesome tests as they find the true meaning of 'Eden'.

3,019 readers have visited The Facade of Eden since LeBeau created it.

The Facade of Eden

The Story

Long ago, a group of French settlers came across a large plot of land on the shore. On the land was a singular home, simple and plain in appearance. Out of that home came a neatly dressed man in a black suit, greeting the visitors with enthusiasm and kindness. He told them that they could settle here and stay for as long as they pleased. "This land is paradise. You shall have everything and anything that you desire" The settlers were overjoyed to hear the news, but the man had a warning for them. He pointed to a small island a little away from them. It was densely forested, and a wooden bridge laid in-between them and the island.

"You shall maintain this bridge for as long as you live here, but never shall you build anything in the forest of that island. It is my forest and you may visit it, but not a single tree nor bush shall be struck down from it"

The settlers found it odd at first, but they agreed. The land was unusually fertile, providing the villagers excellent harvest. The people were happy, living long and healthy lives. They named their land 'Eden' and the island across the bridge 'Eden Isle'. Eventually the man in the black suit would disappear, but no one ever dared to disturb the tranquility by building anything across the bridge, heeding his warning still. Generation through generation, the story would be passed down. The bridge would remain maintained for decades. It seemed that everything was perfect on Eden, paradise would be the best word to describe it.
Several years would pass, most all of the original settlers of Eden slowly dying off. They would pass Eden and the island off to newer generations. Eventually, the tale of the man in the black suit would become nothing more than a story. The bridge still remained maintained, but his warnings seemed to mean little more than a wise-tail to the occupants of the town.

One day, the occupants of the town would be approached by an outsider. He brought with him large suitcases and promises of wealth and glory. The townspeople called for their leader, Adam. As Adam and the man discussed, his motives became clear. He wanted to build a home across the bridge, on Eden Isle.
At first refusing, Adam remembered the tradition of the town and the story of the man in the black suit. The outsider attempted to persuade him, offering him vast amount of money for the land. Swayed by his greed and imperfections as a human, Adam agreed. No longer heeding the man in the black suit's warning, they allowed the outsider to build his home.

As soon as the first tree was cut down, strange occurrences began. Children crossing the bridge would go missing and strange and horrifying howls would be heard from the island. The outsider would never return to Eden, seemingly disappearing within the island, leaving only the cabin behind.
Slowly but surely, residents of Eden realized what they had done-

They had unleashed hell upon themselves

Monsters ran free on the island, any visitors being enveloped by the horrors of the forest. Once entering the island, it was impossible to leave. The bridge disappearing behind you until another visitor came and became trapped as well. Eden slowly decayed, the harvest dying and sickness spreading throughout. The occasional monster would slip across the bridge, tormenting the residents of the town.

The villagers stayed in Eden, forced to face the consequences of their actions. What was left behind was a desolate, sad village, occupied only by a few handfuls of villagers. Adam was left to witness what he had done-

What was once paradise, was now their own personal slice of hell-

~20 years later~

A group of High school students from Millerton, New York on summer vacation discover a cabin for rent at an unbelievable price. Packing their bags and saying their goodbyes, they were off. They expected the trip of a life time but they could never imagine what awaited them in Eden.

Day 1 - 08:00 - The Cabin

As the van came to a slow and steady halt, Gabriel looked over to Andy with a fleeting smile. The mood in the car had been odd to say the least. At first, everyone was filled with excitement and curiosity. Conversation and laughter filled the old, rusted vehicle . Slowly, the excitement began to die down and after passing the bridge, it ceased completely. Everyone had felt something odd about the town, but they kept their fear concealed within them.

Gabriel had been treating Andy with a strange level of delicacy. Stefan and Calleigh sat quietly, enveloped in their own thoughts. Devin tinkered with his gadgets the entire way, and charlie sat next to him, blocking out the world with her headphones. The only voices in the car were Andy and Gabriel's flirtatious comments to each other, and Patrick's constant complaints and belittlement.

As they finally reached the cabin, a spark of excitement completely altered the mood of the group. "Woah! Is this the place we rented?" Devin stumbled out first, eying the extravagant building. "I guess so" Gabriel stood outside of the van, one hand on the car's roof. "Is this it? The interior better be pretty fuckin' fantastic for all the money i spent on it" Patrick complained as he slipped out of the back seat. Stefan stood next to Gabriel, flashing him a slight smile.

Andy appeared from the car a short while later, opening the door for Calleigh who quickly took to her side. "This'll be fun" Andy reassured her as the pair grabbed their bags and headed inside. Charlie and Patrick were quick to follow, taking a seat on the couch.

Gabriel walked up to the doorway, Stefan to his left and Devin to his right. He wrapped an arm around each of their necks "This is going to be the best week of our lives" He smiled, pushing the two inside.

About to step in himself, he caught Andy heading down to the bedroom out of the corner of his eye. He remembered the scene he had witnessed earlier this week-

3 days earlier - Millerton, New York

”I’m not sure why you think it’s okay for you to just disappear for the week.” Shaun growled as he stood outside Andy’s front door. “Have you talked to mom and dad about this? You’re going with that goody two-shoes Gabe? And a bunch of other pot-heads?”

“Beats being home.” Andy replied, acid in her tone. “Especially if you’re going to be here…”

Shaun had shoved her so hard that her head rattled, spots appearing behind her vision. She was fortunate enough to get inside the house and lock herself in her room before he could do any more damage.

Gabriel sighed, a slight frown making its way across his face. He had confront him soon after he witnessed that attack-

"How dare you touch her like that! You're her brother, you're supposed to protect her!" His fist slammed against the wall behind Shaun. Clearly rattled, he began to gather himself "That's right, I'm her brother and i can do what i want. Both of us know she'll never admit to it, so just drop it" Shaun smirked "Remember, i live with her. Don't piss me off or I'll take my anger out on her"

Gabriel grunted as he realized Shaun was right. He took a step back, glancing over at Shaun before walking back to his car. "If you hurt her-" He growled.

"Yeah, i know. You wont do shit" Shaun taunted as Gabriel drove away.

The truth is, Gabriel didn't go home that night. He sat in his car across the street, waiting for a scream of a cry for help. He wouldn't leave Andy to fend for herself. It may of seemed odd to anyone else, but not Gabriel's friends. They knew how much he cared for them and they knew he had a sweet spot for Andy. It was all but expected behavior.

Day 1 - 08:06 - The Cabin

Gabriel sighed, heading into the living room to join the others. He would confront Andy and hope that she agreed to let him help.

Day 1 - 08:06 - Living Room

Patrick and Charlie had taken seats on the couch, casual flirting with one another, some strange tension between them. As Devin walked in, he caught Patrick's attention "Hey nerd, hook up those damn speakers why dont you? That's the only reason we brought you along anyways" He barked. Devin peered across the room, finding the source of the command "Im here because Gabriel invited me, who exactly invited you? And my names Devin, not 'Nerd"

Gabriel walked in just as Patrick spoke, "Fuck off, Patrick. Devin's here because he's my friend and you'll leave him be." His attention was elsewhere, looking around curiously for Andy. He found her, walking down the hall with Calleigh. "Hey Andy, wannah go exploring?" He smiled, nodding a greeting to Calleigh as he walked up beside the two. "Uh...Sure" She smiled politely back at him. She looked back to Calleigh "You want to come with us?"

"No, its ok, ill go unpack" She didn't want to disturb the two, heading off into the bedroom-

"Let's go then" Gabriel took Andy's hand, leading her off to the pool-

Devin brushed Patrick off, patting his speakers as if they were small children "At least you're all ready to go" He smiled slightly before noticing the Gabe and Andy were no where to be found. "They didnt leave me in here, did they?" He asked himself before veering off into the hallway-

Day 1 - 08:14 - Bedroom

In one of the bedrooms, he spotted the silent girl. The one who had annoyingly been fiddling about with the car window. "Ah, I thought everyone had left me to do their dirty work. So nice to know that I am not the only one in-doors.

No response. "Hey? Don't tell me you're ignoring me as well..." Devin sighed, slowly approaching Callie. "Hey, something wrong?" The tech boy poked the girl's shoulder, trying a physical manner of getting her attention.

Callie jumped a mile when Devin poked her. She stared at him confused for a moment, like a deer trapped in headlights. After a couple of minutes of awkward silence, just staring at Devin, Callie finally managed to form a sentence in her mind.

"I'm deaf." She spoke quietly, her speech was off because she couldn't hear herself talk. "I didn't hear you come in."

Ah, that explained why she didn't at all react to his chatter. Devin tried to figure out how to talk with this girl then. Or wasn't it deaf, deaf? But more like, partially deaf-ish? "Sorry, I didn't know that." The tech boy awkwardly tried to explain what he said with weird hand movements. He never spoke to a person who was deaf before. "I thought, since it seems we are the only ones in-doors. We could... Chat? A bit, maybe?" Devin laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head with his left hand.

Callie sat awkwardly not sure how to talk with Devin. Especially with all the hand movements. "I can lip read. You don't have to do the hand movements. I just need to see your lips move. I'm Callie." She gave a small smile and formally held out her hand.

Devin couldn't help but feel extremely awkward. "Ah, I see. It's just that... Never mind. I'm Devin, pleased to meet you Callie." The Tech buy gave the girl a smile of his own, shaking her hand as he did so. "So you like it, here?" Devin asked, pondering on what he should even say. Although his question was rather cheerful and confident in tone, it was difficult for him to get a simple chat started. Not giving her a moment to respond "Wannah go over to the pool?"

She smiled lightly, "Sure"

Day 1 - 08:14 - Living Room

Charlie spotted Stefan, hanging idly by the window. He was watching the forest, taken by it's ominous appearance "Scary place-" He mumbled under his breath.

"Hey, come socialize Stefan" Charlie shouted across the room, catching his attention. He made his way to the couch, eying Patrick as he fired out a flurry of rude remarks. No one liked this guy, why was he even on the trip? He noticed something odd between Charlie and Patrick, they flirted but they had acid in their tone. Lovers fueled by hate. The two had a history back in Millerton-

1 Year Earlier - Millerton Hostpital

"Jacob's dead" He hung his head, standing in front of her as he looked idly at the floor. "No Patrick, no- He can't be" She fell into his arms. He stood there, holding her in the hospital lobby. People swarmed around them, continuing on their day as Patrick and Charlie's seemed to freeze. He fought back a tear, looking down at her, unable to speak.

Ever since then both their lives went down the drain. Patrick grew up with Jacob, he was practically his brother. Charlie and them were inseparable. Patrick had a bright future before the accident, stunning academic's, and early decision into Harvard. Jacob's death changed him. He was enveloped by guilt, misery, and depression. He acted out, vandalizing the streets and throwing himself into fights he couldn't possibly win. His parents should of stepped in, they should of care, but they were too preoccupied in their own affairs. The only person who gave a crap about hims seemed to be Jacob, and he was gone now. Eventually, Harvard retracted his acceptance. He was left with nothing, a broken and beaten man. He became cold, mean, and most of all, he became lonely-

Charlie met a similar fate. She was the school's head cheerleader, everything going for her. She was dating Patrick, leading an almost perfect life. When Jacob died, she looked to Patrick for support. When he began drifting away, thats when she cracked. Her best friend had died, and her boyfriend wanted nothing to do with her. She tried to carry on, god dammit she did. She wanted to be happy, to go back to the way things were. Finally, she couldnt take it any more. The grief, the loneliness: She ran off to the City, returning weeks later a completely different person. She quit the cheerleader team and allowed her grades to slowly drop. She sat back and watched as her life crumbled in front of her.

Day 1 - 08:20 - Living Room

Patrick looked at her, opening his mouth to speak- Charlie hung there, fear struck. She didn't want to speak of it, not now and not ever.

He remained silent, standing and attempting to put on a facade of carelessness. He saw Devin and Calleigh heading off the the pool "Starting the party without us?" He tried to be loud, but his voice quivered. He followed the two out to the pool.

Stefan turned to Charlie, realizing something was wrong. He flashed her a sympathetic expression "You coming?"

She reached into her pocket, withdrawing a cigarette, resting within her quivering fingers "Imah have a smoke first"

Stefan nodded, disappearing to join the group at the pool.

Day 1 - 08:10 - Pool

Gabriel took her hand and lead her through the house, coming to a stop at the pool. He peered down at her, looking into her soft eyes. He opened his mouth, about to release the words that were burning painful streaks against his lips, but he caught them. He stayed silent.

He didnt want to ruin this trip for Andy, he decided that it wold be better to confront her about it at the end of the trip. He couldn't stand to see her hurt, it pained him more than anything. "This is going to be a good week" He smiled, brushing the bottom of her cheek with his finger playfully. He paused for just a moment, pondering the conditions that dictated their friendship. Was she even interested in more than friendship? Was trying for something more worth losing what they had?

He looked away towards the pool, his eyes glistening lightly. "Time for a swim?" He laughed, pulling off his shirt and dropping it by their feet. He smirked as he slowly stepped behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Ready?"

In a moments time, he cast both of them into the water.

She screeched, clinging to him tightly as the pair of them fell into the water together.

"You slimy...ACK!" Andy spluttered as she pushed herself to the shallow end. "Away with you, you creep! I would have changed into my swimsuit if you'd ASKED me nicely!"

He slowly pushed her against the edge of the pool, holding onto the edge with Andy in between his arms. He laughed slightly under his breath at her quips, bringing his lips up to her ear, speaking in soft whispers. "Where would the fun in that be?" His breath blew lightly against her neck.

He looked down at the water as he pushed away from her, repositioning himself next to Andy and leaning against the edge of the pool.

"Plus...your face was priceless" He couldnt help but laugh.

"That's what your mom said," Andy replied, pouting at him as he nudged her against the edge of the pool. Water now soaked her black blouse, her jean shorts floating awkwardly around her thighs. Somewhere on the other side of the pool, her sandals floated idly, too buoyant to sink to the bottom. When he drew close, she relaxed her head back against the edge of the pool, keeping her hands to herself as she rolled her jaw and turned her face to the side.

Nope. She wasn't going to touch his abdomen. Not at all.

She felt like she could breath when he finally moved away, settling next to her instead. That was good. Much safer.

"The place is nice though. I think we'll have a good time here." She looked up at the sky, squinting past the clouds as she lifted her hands and pushed her hair away from her face. "I hope Patrick behaves."

He seemed distracted, almost ignoring Andy's comment about Patrick. "Uh, sure" He didnt face her when he spoke, keeping his focus on the water below. The water had grown dark, impossibly so. Gabriel could swear he saw something... felt something in the water. He kept his fears to himself, not wishing to scare Andy. He looked back up at her with a smile "We should probably get back to the rest of the group" He comment was painfully shallow, he really had no interest in joining them, but he did not want to stay here.

He put his hands on the edge of the pull, pushing himself up and out of the water. He stood, small puddles forming by his feet, water trickling smoothly down his skin, his jeans soaked. He ran a hand trough his hair, then a thumb across his cheek in a vain attempt to gather the water clinging to him.

He bent down slightly, reaching a hand out to Andy.

Andy watched him, her brow furrowing as he started to behave a little, well, oddly...Funny, he'd seemed pretty interested in seeing her before. What was this all of a sudden?

"I, sure.." she told him, trying hard not to appear too disappointed when he suggested that they return to the rest of the group. She didn't mind of course, Gabe could do what he wanted.

When he got up out of the water, she reached a hand up for him, grasping his wrist, completely oblivious to the changes in the pool behind her as she started to climb out of the water.

Day 1 - 08:30 - Pool

Devin and Calleigh entered first, followed by Stefan and Patrick. "Let's get this shit started!" Patrick flicked the cap off his beer, allowing it to skid across the concrete surrounding the pool.

Gabriel seemed uneasy, instinctively stepping in front of Patrick. "Guys, i dont think right now's the best time for swimming" He faltered slightly as the other members of the group met him with confusion.

"Fuck this man" Patrick tried to step forward as Gabriel caught him by his wrist. "I told you no!" He barked, catching himself as he quieted his tone. He whispered to him warningly "There's something in the water" Patrick rolled his eyes "Stop trying to fuck with me, i paid for the cabin and ill do what i want" Shoving Gabriel aside, he slipped out of his grasp and dove into the water before Gabriel could stop him. "Pa-" He instinctively stepped towards the pool as Patrick's head bobbed out idly.

"I told you man, it's fine, stop being such a prick" Patrick taunted. As a shadow gingerly gathered behind Patrick, panic took to Gabriel's face. "Patrick!" Before he could turn to face the beast, Patrick was dragged deep under the water.

At that moment, the lights illuminating the indoor pool flicked violently, burning out in a seconds time. The group was cast into complete and utter-darkness. After a odd silence, Patrick screamed "Help! Char-" He trashed violently, a single light flickering on and illuminating Patrick as he was dragged trough the pool. His voice disturbing the ominous quiet.

Gabriel didn't stop for a moment, entering the pool as the last light died off again. It began as violent screams and splashes, but turned to a quiet calm. After what seemed like an eternity, the monotone drone of the lights pierced the silence. The pool filled with light, Patrick was gone.

A single hand reached out, grasping at the wall of the Pool. Gabriel pulled himself from the water, blood cascading from his side as he dropped to his knees. "It-it took him-" He coughed violently, tiredly, using his hand to support himself as he peered down at the concrete beneath him. "I tried...i tried" His voice quivering painfully. He stayed there, on all fours, a trail of blood leading to the pool.

No one spoke, no one moved, not for a while. The calm was disturbing....horrifying.

Devin had watched in fear as something unspeakable happened. At that one moment, when Patrick jumped into the pool... "What the actual, flying fuck!" The tech boy yelled out after minutes of idle glaring. Shocked, scared, confused.

He just... What the hell happened? He wondered in a panic. His breath became more heavy with each passing second, unable to speak another word.

They needed to get away, quickly. Whatever killed those people, it was bad news, very bad. Devin pressed with both hands on either side of his head. He needed to calm... Clear his mind, if only it was that easy. Odds were he wasn't the only one who was in shock...

The moment Andy was out of the pool, it seemed that Patrick was diving back in. She turned to watch, eyes wide as the enveloping darkness swallowed him up, dragging him down. The atmosphere became thick with tension and fear, choking off her throat with her own anxiety as she whipped her head around, trying to comprehend what was going on. Suddenly, a Patrick was in the pool, thrashing and screaming for help.

What in God's name...

"Callie!" the girl shouted, running for her friend as the air began to finally clear. When Gabe poked his head back up out of the water...

Well, Andy wasn't sure of what to think or say. So, she said nothing, and held to Callie as her eyes began to burn, her stomach rolling with nausea.

"Oh god.." she murmured tearfully

The color seemed to drain from Stefan's face as he watched in complete horror. He tried to get out of his chair, falling on his backside and scrabbled backwards away from death. His ankle twisted in the wrong direction as he did, but he didn't feel the pain at first He watched Gabe jump in, but he couldn't force anything out of his mouth as he looked in abject fear.

"What the fuck." Who was still standing, who was...his mind looked at the others, and all he was seeing was blurriness to their faces, as if he didn't recognize any of them. He tried to stand, wincing slightly at a pain in his ankle. When did he do that, the pain made it real again, the whole fucking thing real again. The cabin, the pool, the screams...and the death.

"Gabe," it came out in a whisper because truthfully he really didn't want Gabe to repeat those words he just said.

He stood this time, and the pain went up his leg, "Fuck."

Gabriel still couldn't speak, the panic of his friend enveloping him. He coughed, water forming puddles as it seeped out of his mouth. He wanted to collapse right there, just give up and die. He had saw it, he had saw that thing that killed his friends. "Fuck....fuck fuck fuck" His voice trembled, tears streaming down his face. The reality of the night finally sank in.

He left his trance as he looked up at the remaining members of the dwindling group. He remembered his responsibilities to his friends. He grasped his side, attempting to stand. He was unable to get up from his knees, remaining on all fours.

The pool let out a low roar, the water trembling behind him. It was back-

He waved his hand out in front of him, motioning his friends inside. "Go! Get inside and lock the door!" His own well being was the last thing on his mind. "Devin! Help Stefan in!" He growled as he tried to crawl forward, his would on his side holding him back. He let out muffled screams of pain. "I said go!"

Devin snapped out of his panic-pondering, hesitating not a second to run over to Stefan, and help the poor guy on his feet. "Let's go. This shit ain't safe." He just glared with a shocked expression at Gabe. "Just make sure you get inside as well! I won't close the door otherwise!" Even if his friend meant well, nothing, and he meant nothing would make him close that door until everyone was safe and sound inbetween these four walls.

The tech boy made a run for it, carrying Stefan as he slung the guy's arm over his own shoulder. Once inside, Devin gently dropped Stefan on the couch, immediately making his way towards the entrance of the pool. "Gabe, I am going to-" Did the pool just roar? What the shit was going on...? "Gabe! Get the hell inside, now!"

As the crowd began to force themselves violently back towards the safety of the cabin (safety being extremely objective here, of course), Andy kept a tight hold on Callie, clinging to the girl's wrist as she stared with wide, panicked eyes towards Gabe. The blood that soaked him, the frothing and groaning of the pool behind him...all of it was too surreal to be true. It just...couldn't be happening. was.

"Devin keep an eye on Callie!" she shouted, turning to her friend. "Go inside. I'm helping Gabe."

The tech boy nodded in response, motioning for Callie to follow him inside. "Hurry!" He shouted.

She let go of Callie's hand, then made a sprint for Gabe's side. She skidded hard on her knees against the pool deck, taking him under her arm and unceremoniously hoisting him to his feet.

"No time to be the tragic hero, Gabe. I'm not letting you go so easily," she gasped. "Stand up. You're heavy!"

He looked up at her weakly, keeping his hand firmly at his side. "I told you to go, Andy" His face was clearly stuck with tears, but for both of their benefits he tried to hide it best he could. As the water trashed behind them, he kept his eyes on Andy's. "Thank you~"

"Thank me later," she replied, her face pale, eyes wide with her own desperation. "Come on.." she gave his arm another tug.

Gabriel grunted softly, moving to his feet. He try to walk but could only managed to lean on her.

Upon witnessing the horrifying occurrence, Devin spotted something trying to reach out for either victim near the pool. "Watch out! Behind you!" The boy shouted, pointing at their feet.

At Devin's words, Gabriel turned and spotted the hand swiping for Andy's foot. Gabriel didn't give it an inch, bringing his foot down on the creature's hand. He coughed, attempting to push Andy and him forward. "Let's go, it's coming"

She didn't notice the arm until Gabriel stomped on it, but when she did, she tugged him forward as he pushed her, one hand coming around to secure at his side, covering the wound, applying pressure to stop the bleeding.

The tides grew, the water trashing about wildly. A screech coming from the pool caught his attention, forcing him to look back for just a moment. Fear struck across his face as the thing reared its head.

Turning back to Andy, he wrapped his arm around her, forcing her hand off his wound. "Faster!" He grunted, gritting his teeth and bearing the pain as he shoved her inside. As he took a step forward to enter himself, something wrapped around his legs, threating to pull him back into the water. He reached his hand out for the doorway, his fingers just grazing it as the thing tugged at his leg-

She caught herself, managing to turn in time to see Gabriel's feet get ripped out from under him. Wasting no time, she dove for him, grasping his wrist and grabbing the in the door with her opposite hand.

Something ripped painfully, and an agonizing pain shot through her left shoulder.
"Shit," she gasped, giving Gabe a mighty tug closer to herself. "Kick. Your feet. Gabe." she grunted.

He looked down at his leg, digging the toe of his shoe into the concret. "Let me go!" He grunted as he tried to push against the tentacle.

Devin hesitated a bit, trying to locate something to fend off Gabe's attacker. Of course! The hearth! The tech boy rushed and panickly reached out for the nearest firepoker he could spot, and ran outside to save his friend from the creature. He forcefully pricked the poker into the tentacle, injuring it just a tad, but enough to make it release grip on Gabe.

Gabriel fell into the room, his hand still clasped tighly in hers.

He settled ontop of her, his face a few inches away from hers. His breaths were labored, , rolling off of her and onto his back.

When he fell into her, she couldn't do much more than fall back against the floor, her breath leaving her in a rush.

Then his weight was on top of her, guarded (thankfully) by the strength of his arms as he stared down at her. She panted, staring into his eyes, then closing them as he rolled away from her, curling in on herself and gripping her arm.

"You okay?" she asked him. "No more cuts?"

He didn't speak for a moment, his eyes idly staring up at the ceiling. "I saw it.... i saw it bi-" He caught himself, choking on his words intertwined with a cough.
He took to his feet, lifting up Andy gently by her waist and standing her upright. "I-im fine" He dragged the words out of him.

Looking her over, he let his hands linger on her waist for a moment before pulling away. "Are you ok?"

"Been better." Andy replied quietly, looking away from him and turning to slam the door shut. Her right arm was limp and loose at her side, her left doing all the work as she threw the locks and turned back to Gabriel. "Excuse me just a second..."

With that, she stormed past him, and straight to the bathroom.

She felt like she was going to be sick.

Day 1 - 09:10 - Living Room

Gabriel sighed as she brushed past him. His eyes lingered on the door to the bathroom for a moment, before turning back towards Devin "Cut the sarcasm when you answer, but-

"What the fuck just happened?" Devin responded before Gabe could finish his sentence. "Really- just, what the hell?!" Really, it isn't an everyday thing you saw your freakin' friend get murdered by something. In an indoor pool no less!

"There's more than one thing in that pool" Gabriel gazed out at the water.

"I'd rather have, no things in the pool. I'm more confused about what the fuck it was." Devin seated down on the couch, glaring at Gabe as he tried to figure things out.

"The thing that killed Patrick-"
Gabriel shuttered for a moment, gathering himself before continuing.
"It was some fucked up version of a mermaid. It tore him to shit- Then the thing that tried to grab for Andy, it looked like a kelpie- And what grabbed me was neither" He ran a hand through his hair, attempting to calm himself.

"A what?! You a-" Actually, no. He wouldn't be kidding him. Because then Patrick would still be here, pestering the living shit out of Devin. "Monsters? Seriously? Fairy tale creatures... You sure it wasn't a- a shark 'r something?" Techy made sure to give the pool another look. Really? He couldn't believe Gabe's words, yet he would not outrule it.

Gabriel seemed to accept it all too easily "Im sure- But if that was in the pool- Andy!" He shouted, a sense of urgency taking him over.
"What? What?" Devin rose up from the couch, glaring at his friend who suddenly shouted so urgently. "Something the matter?" He asked, confused about why
Gabe sounded so concerned.

He darted for the ktichen, searching through the silverware. "Dammit where is it!' He turned to Devin "Come here, help me look for silver....silver or iron" He turned back to another cabinet, throwing plates to the floor as he searched "There's more monsters in this house,"

Devin followed his friend into the kitchen, hastily searching for that silver, or iron he was told to look for. "What, you a supernatural detective now?" He knew it wasn't time for jokes, but still. Maybe Gabe was a bit delusional from blood loss, or he had acquired a concussion... "Are you even sure there's silverware in here?" He asked, throwing himself in front of another cabinet.

He stayed silent, searching cabinets until he found a pile of silverware. "Here! Found it!" He threw devin a handful of silver knives, stuffing the rest into his pocket. "Now- sugar? no no. It was salt" He reached into another cabinet, pulling out a few boxes of salt "Take this" He pushed them over to Devin before rushing through to the fireplace, taking a fire poker into his hand "Iron". He turned to face Dvin, realizing how crazy he sounded. "My uncle- he was kinda an expert on this stuff" He averted his eyes, suddenly filled with grief and guilt "I told him he was crazy- I-I sent him to a home" His uncle was right, and he sent him to a mental institute.

Devin just stared as confused as ever. Now, he wasn't really the one to question stuff, but this really seemed a bit. A bit too crazy, so to speak. "Gabe, chill. Nothing's gonn-"

He turned to Devin, sincerity strewn into his face "Devin! Shut the fuck up for one second!" His words were labored and desperate. "Please man...."
He gathered himself "You've known me since we were kids, Devin. I've been for you there whenever you needed it, i trust you with my life. Now trust me- There's something out there, and i need you to believe me"

It didn't arrive to clearly for Devin. "Bu-" He just wanted Gabe to relax for a bit, they've just witnessed someone die, that's a lot to handle. "Fine. I'll listen for now. We'll do whatever you intend to do with this shit, and I'll isten to your sob story later. Deal?" He was reluctant, but they were friends. And friends need to trust each other, right?

"Thank you, Devin" He looked around the room for a moment. "Can you and Calleigh for searching for some more iron?
Calleigh interjected "I uh... i have an Iron Cross in my bag-"
She looked to the ground nervously.

"That's fine, Devin, go get it while i set up here" Gabriel motioned towards the bedroom.

"Can i go to?" Calleigh asked quietly

Gabriel nodded "Just be careful"

Devin smiled uneasily "Always"

Turning to face Calleigh, followed her to the bedroom.

Day 1 - 9:09 - Bathroom

Something towered over the girl, crouching down to his knees. Horns made of bone twirled out of his skull, sickly wings extending from his back. "Don't you dare tell a soul about me-" He barked, standing to his full height "Or ill gut you next time" In a moment he was gone, leaving her by herself.

She only moved to grab a towel off the rack to wrap herself in, shivering from combination trauma and cold. Small, choked off sobs escaped her lips every once in a while, and it felt like ages before she slowly stood to pull back the curtain to exit the shower. She'd clean up, pack up, get the HELL out of here. Demons were usually bound to a certain house, right?

She opened the curtain to Andy getting ready to puke into the toilet. "Shit!- ah! Um...h-h-hi..."
She was leaning against the bathroom counter, her good hand pressed to her mouth as she struggled to just breathe. Her right arm hung at her side, fingers twitching occasionally as she tried and failed to lift the arm to the bathroom counter. When Charlie suddenly appeared, she straightened, falling back against the wall as a choked cry cut off her breath.

"Where did you come from?!" she half-shouted. Why was she covered in blood?!

She was white-faced, shaking all over, as though seeing Charlie suddenly standing there was more terrifying than rescuing Gabe from the motherfucking pool monster.

A pair of eyes watched the two from behind the window of the bathroom, camofloughed mostly by the dark. It began as one, but then another pair joined it, and another.

"I-I've been here," Charlie replied, shifting the towel to avert not only Andy's eyes, but the others that she could sense were on her. After what happened, obviously being gutted had to be worse, or why threaten it. She couldn't stand it. Her face was pale, bloodstained, and yet she looked to be unharmed. "Patrick's dead-" she began, playing her trauma off as still being in shock. "I needed to- be alone."

Andy struggled to catch her breath, unaware of the eyes that watched them. Her skin was crawling, hinting at the lingering horror of what had happened. The blood was what disturbed her most.

"I, here.." Andy took a washcloth, soaking it in the sink before coming over to Charlie and tentatively cleaning the mess off of her face. " get hurt? Are you okay?"

The injured shoulder was beginning to purple in an ugly fashion, the ripped muscle and tendon beneath starting to make visible manifestations on her skin.

"I must've, eh...scrubbed too hard-" she lamely excused herself, taking the washcloth and cleaning herself up a little more. She balked at the shoulder. "Oh shit- what happened to you? Did that...THING come back?"
Charlie had run off pretty much the instant she smelled blood in the water. Smart girl.
But not really considering she'd set herself up for the other horrors in the house to prey on her.

"It tried to grab Gabe.." Andy explained. "Wrenched my shoulder when I got a hold of him and the door."
Talking made her feel less like she was going to throw up. This was good.

Light snickers could be heard outside the window aswell as the rustling of dried leaves. "I wannah eat that one" the eyes seem to whisper, quiet enough to be unheard.

Charlie shook her head. "Fuck that noise- man. I'm packing up and I'm getting the hell out of this cabin. Bad juju and shit. Wouldn't be surprised if it was on an indian burial ground." She looked at her reflection in the mirror- pale- pathetic. And then she could see them- the eyes. Though the whisper was too faint to be heard, the hairs on her arms stood up on end. "Shit...something's here..."

When Andy looked towards the mirror too, she felt herself stiffen with anxiety. "Lets get back to the others." she murmured. "Get dressed quick. Let's get the hell away from here.."

She didnt' want to stick around any more than Charlie did, after all.
She didn't need to be told twice, making a steady beeline for the bedroom to haphazaardly throw shit in her bag. Her hair was still wet, but there was no time for primping. She had to get out, and she had to get out NOW.

Andy watched her go, her brow furrowed in concern before she made her way back to the living room.

Day 1 - 9:30 - Living Room

Andy came back into the living room, bad arm held in her good one. Her shoulder was an ugly bruised color, essentially useless, and there was blood on her hands from where she'd helped Charlie clean up in the bathroom.
When she saw Gabe and Devin standing there, wide eyed as though they'd seen MORE ghosts and ghouls, she hung back, her lips parting as if she were going to speak.

But no words came.

"What...are the chances of us getting out of here?" she finally managed, leaning against the wall on her good shoulder. Her clothes were soaked, her hair matted and tangled around her face, and there was blood trickling from her knees where she'd slid against the pool deck. After a short pause, she took a breath and sighed.

Gabriel was busy, dropping a salt line across each window and door. His attention immediately turned to Andy as she entered the room. "Stop Andy" He spoke calmly, dropping the silver onto the couch as he walked over to her. He wrapped his arms around her neck, pushing her head gently against his chest. He enveloped her in his embrace, soothing and calming her the best he could. "Come on Andy, don't talk like that. You're getting out of here alive, i promise."

Despite the situation, he spoke with unfiltered confidence and sincerity.

She winced a little when he pulled her against his chest, her good hand coming up to hook around his bicep. Sighing slightly, she closed her eyes and rested her cheek against his chest, unable to help the tears that burned at the corners of her eyes.

"We should see if we can leave." she said, her voice weak. "Just..get out of here, you know? Get the police involved or something."

There were no phones in the place, and their cell phones didn't get service around here.

He released her slowly, brushing a finger under her eyes. He gently cleared the tears away, letting his hand linger idly against her cheek. "I'll get you out of here" He turned away from her, stepping up to the door. He held the iron firepoker in his hand as he wrapped his hand around the door handle. He opened it cautiously, his eyes flickering across the forest. "W-Wheres the car?" He shuddered, stepping outside into the open.

In a moments time, something jump out from the darkness. It appeared to be- Human? But no, it was almost transparent. It swiped Gabriel, sending him flying to the floor, the iron firepoker dropping by the door. He tried to kick it back from his position on the floor, but it walked through it, unshaped.

He reached for the iron, grabbing it and swiping it at the form. It struck him, pushing him back. Gabriel took to his feet, stepping back into the house and shutting the door "The salt!" He pointed across the room at a small box. "Andy, pass it to me!'

"Here!" Andy shouted, tossing it to him with her good hand. She was hovering back by the wall, her eyes wide with terror as she watched the monster approach and attack. Her breath came in fasts spurts, vision blurring as the threat of passing out loomed ever closer.
"I, is it...the salt keeps it out?" she asked, reaching a hand out to catch her balance.

He didnt answer at first, trailing it across the door before taking a quick step back.

He eyed it nervously, half expecting it to burst though the door despite the salt. It seemed he didnt even trust it's potency.

Minutes passed, the salt appearing to have done its job. "I cant believe it actually worked..." His voice veered off slowly.
He turned to face Andy, "Yeah... it is" He stepped forward, putting his hands on her waist and motioning towards the couch. "Sit down for a minute, let me patch you up"

"I'm patched," she replied, looking down at his hands. "I feel fine, just tired..." She stepped forward, just leaning against his chest as her brow furrowed in her own confusion.

"How did you know about the salt?" It certainly wouldn't have been her first guess.

"Andy, no you're not" He motioned towards her knee's "Please, just sit and let me bandage them for you- You know me, and you know im going to be stuburn about this" He put his hands on her shoulders, gently pushing her away from him. "I'll tell you while im tending to the wounds"
She gave him a look, closing her eyes and shaking her head before striding past him. She didn't wait, just took a seat, then leaned her elbows down on her knees and looked over at him.

"Where is everyone else?" she asked quietly. Devin seemed to have disappeared, and Charlie hadn't come downstairs yet.
Gabriel crouched in front of her, pulling out the first-aid kit from under the coffee table. He began gently rubbing the wounds with the alchohol swabs. "Devin's looking for more Iron" He looked up at her, his hands wrapped around her legs, his thumbs grazing across the skin under the wounds gently.

"Im sorry about all of this- "

He couldn't keep her gaze, averting his eyes as he began wrapping the wounds. He collected himself before speaking again "But uh, my uncle was a bit of a nut. He was into all this Ghost stuff. Thats how i knew about the salt" He laughed uneasily to himself "And i sent him to a mental ward-" He stayed silent for a moment, standing slowly as he gathered himself. "Guess that's what he gets in return for trying to protect me" He gazed at the floor, the same uneasy laughter.
He hated himself for what he did, even before he knew these monsters existed. But now-

His uncle was just trying to prepare him

1 year earlier - Millerton, New York

"Gabe, my boy, don't do this" He reached out to him with a feeble hand, tears glazed his eyes. He smiled pleadingly. "Don't let them, Gabe"
"Please, i only want to protect you"

Gabriel looked away "Stop, you need help"

As they sat him in the car, he gazed out the window at Gabriel. The tears streamed down his face, "Im sorry, Gabriel" He fell into a quiet sob as the van pulld away from the driveway

Day 1 - 09:48 - The Cabin

Gabriel brushed the tears from his face. Throughout this entire day, Gabriel managed to keep his cool. The most it had got out of him was a few tears.
But what stood there today was a shaken man, one who realized he had made the gravest mistake in his entire life. His uncle died at that institution, afraid and alone.

She listened to his story, unsure of how to process what she was hearing. She searched his face, her heart beating uncomfortably in her chest, gut twisting with emotion as she watched the tears form in his eyes.
"Come on Gabe..." she murmured, pushing herself to her feet and staring up at him with concern written all over her face. "You did it for love, right? I mean, you didn't know how to help him, so you found people who might. And really, who could have guessed that he'd be right?"
More tears.

"Who could have possible known that horrific things happen so regularly? We don't...we just, we don't."
She looked away from him, wiping at tears that had gathered, finally tilting her chin to her chest so he wouldn't see how close she was coming to just losing her composure.

He looked up at the ceiling, wiping away the last of the tears. "Huh" He took a breath, sniffling for a moment as he looked back at her. He smiled "Im uh- Sorry about that. It's the past, and i have more pressing matters to attend to" He rubbed the back of his neck uneasily, trying to push his uncle out of his mind.

He caught a bookshelf out of the corner of his eye. "Maybe..." He walked over to it, brushing his fingers across the spines of the books. "These- They're all about monsters - And witchcraft" He ponderd for a moment as he gazed upon the shelf of ancient books.

"Why on earth would you want to read about monsters when they're on the fucking front porch?" Andy replied, collapsing back onto the couch and curling her knees up to her chest. "I mean, really Gabe..."

"Im sorry, do you know how to kill a mermaid? What about that octopus thing that grabbed my leg? I doubt they can be reasoned with"

He pulled a book from the shelf, flipping through it quickly. "This seems to be some sort of potion book-" He slipped the leather book into his pocket as he pulled a large one from the shelf.

He flipped through it, stopping as he brushed passed an image. "This is it, this is what killed Patrick-" He gazed out at the pool. He looked back to the book "We wont have to worry about it anymore... as long as we dont go near the water"

He turned back to Andy, crouching down infront of her and placing a hand on each of her knees. He shook them comfortingly. "Come on Andy, if we wannah get through this we have to know what we are up against" He pulled the book out of his pocket and put it on her lap. "Try to find something for your Arm"

"Find what?" she replied incredulously. "A potion? Get serious, Gabe. Aren't these things made of newts and bat wings and shit? Where on earth would we find what we need for this anyway?"

She looked from the book to him, not meaning to take out her frustration on him, especially since he was being so kind...
But still. Seriously? This was all getting to be a bit much.

"I dont get how you can still hold so much doubt, Andy. Maybe it's because you didnt stair that creature in the eyes, but i did-
Before he could finish, Devin came into the room screaming. "Calleigh, she's gone-"

Day 3 - 01:30 - Eden

The words of the driver echoed through her head, "Kid, seriously, don't go through this town. Things happen, this place full name was originally in French and it was 'The Facade of Eden.'" Before she had a chance to question further, the guy had driven off, begging her through the window, "Don't go.".
Well, now here she was two hours later; she had hoped she'd get a lift pretty quickly, and she'd even seen some kids drive past, but the car was full she didn't even ask. Not to mention, some of the guys had looked dangerous. And here she was still waiting, why she had decided it was a good idea to take scenic route.
Sighing, she picked up her bag and started tramping into town, glancing idly at her watch to estimate the time. It was just half past 9, she was unlikely to get a lift now. Best thing to do would be to see if she could get a room anywhere.

Moving through the town, she saw typical sights: a church, a pub and many other buildings. All roads seemed to be connected to this bridge at the far far end.
Something about that place in distance made her uneasy, first she would try the houses.

Approaching one of the nearest doors, she knocked, swearing for a second; she heard screams from far away. Just her imagination most likely, "..but best turn the safety off, eh, Tiaan?" Doing just that, she rang the bell and waited.

A figure could be seen from glass on the door, but they didn't open, instead they spoke through the door, "Child, why you out this late. The curfew states no one opens the door this late. I'm sorry child, but you made your bed."
"Huh..." but her thoughts were unfinished as the figure had gone, she rapped the door a yelled, "Oi, come here, I just want a room for the night" no sound... "come back!"

Growling she considered trying to kick door open and demanding place, but it wasn't worth it. Maybe someone else less insane would be next door.
Repeating again, she heard a small laugh from everywhere, almost child-like.

Shivering she rapped the door and this time person opened door slightly, and a small elderly head poked out, "Excuse me, but what you doing out so late?"
"It's not late, I just want a room for the night."

The old woman tutted and started to remove chain, when a loud child-like laugh broke the silence, desperately she tried to slam the door over Tiaan's foot, but gave up and shook in terror and said quickly, "Please go, please don't let them get me. Don't let them get me!"
Tiaan was so confused, that she removed her foot, and door slammed.

Sighing aloud she pulled out her mobile and dialed Ruby number, after a few rings, she heard phone being picked up.
"Hello, who is this?"
"Oh hey cutie... wasn't expecting you today..."
"I know, and you shouldn't have been, but I'm stuck in some podunk town in arsefuck nowhere."
"Well I could see if it's nearby?"
"Tiaan you need to speak louder, your reception is awful, can hardly hear you."
"Sorry Tiaan, I'm too tired to do this right now, I need to sleep, I love you babe, but phone me back when you got better reception."
The phone hung up and Tiaan now felt nervous.
Tiaan pulled out her handgun and begun to walk towards the only lit up place nearby, which was the pub, it appeared to be called, "The Asylum." pretty fitting name.

Jenny was exhausted after her day of work. As she drove home, she decided to stop for a "quick" drink at the only pub that was relatively close to her town, "The Asylum". After all, she had become good friends with the man that owned the bar, Ryan - he was one of a few childhood friends she had back in her old town. She expected it had been a lazy night, as usual, and hoped to mooch a few free drinks off of him. As she parked nearby and walked towards the bar, she heard someone pull up behind her, and turned around to look. She was surprised to see any new faces around this town. Granted, it was close to the city, but still...Jenny walked up slowly behind the woman who was traveling towards the bar.

As she came close to door she heard a footstep behind her, turning to face the woman swiftly. For a minute there was only silence and the girl just stared in horror at the weapon. Normally Tiaan wasn't so clearly on edge, but it was the strange children's laughter and the way she was being treated, not even LA was this bad. Still, she held her weapon firm, speaking in clear and concise sentences, "Make one move and I blow your brains out. Now tell me who you are and why the fuck you were sneaking up on me!"

The girl seemed afraid to reply as she raised her hands shakily and looked at Tiaan terrified, fear could be a lie though, why wasn't this girl following curfew for instance, why had to snuck up on her. All these needed answered and she was going to get an answer, "I won't repeat again."
"I-I..I live around here. J-just up the road a bit." She gave a small nod to the strange woman. "O-obviously I was going to get a d-d-drink, what else would you d-do at a pub?" Jenny wasn't the best at talking to strangers, but she felt braver in the face of a gun, ironically. She raised her hands in a surrender motion saying "But hey, I'm just a town girl who wants a drink, so why dontcha put the gun down?"

Considering and listening carefully finally Tiaan lowered the gun, not turning off the safety, "Good enough, just be warned. You try anything and I'm not afraid to beat you up." Breathing a little she smiled, "I'm almost relieved another person is here, seriously. I'm trying to get to New York, but my driver refused to go through here, demanding I take another route. Since this place is creepy I'm seeing if this bar has a place to rest, so I can start moving again."
With that Tiaan pushed over the door and stepped into the dimly lit tavern.

Day 3 - 03:00 - The Asylum Pub

All conversation that was going on immediatly died down and the few people inside stared at her, while the barman said in very low threatening tone, "We don't allow your kind in here. Get out."
Immediately, Jenny followed the stranger in. As soon as she heard her bartender friend, Ryan, speak, she cut in. "It's fine, Ryan. She's with me. Just give us both a drink, put it on my tab." She gave him a winning grin - as much as an awkward town girl could, that is.
The bartender still glared, "Jenny, you are fine, but her, she's a city gal. The last person we allowed in from the city... well, you know the rest. If you don't, I'll tell you one day."

Jenny's look immediately turned stern, as she said in a reprimanding tone, "Now Ryan, this woman - " she turned to the woman and whispered "Your name"?"
"Tiaan Barrymore, no relation to the famous family."

Jenny laughed a bit. "Jenny Shepard, nice to meet you." She turned back to Ryan. "This woman, Tiaan. She just wants a drink, and then she'll go on her way. Now. Give us both a mug of Guiness." Her face went back to a smile, but this one was more threatening than the last.
The bartender seemed to grumble before nodding and muttering, "One drink and then she's out. Kids shouldn't even be out this late--."
Finally Tiaan had enough and interrupted, "I'm 22, I'm not a kid, that one thing to say, second why shouldn't kids be out this late?" She noticed Jenny trying to shut her up, but continued, "Honestly LA much worse than here."

Jenny interrupted both of them. "Alright, one drink." She turned to Tiaan and whispered, "Please don't argue with Ryan. He can be stubborn when he wants to."
Rolling her eyes she said casually, "I wonder if the houses across the bridge are more hospitable."

Just then everyone went silent and Ryan said in a very low tone, "OUT. Jenny, we'll talk about this later."

Jenny was worried for the stranger - her new friend - she stood steadfast againt the tender. "Well, Tiaan..that island over there's rumored to be haunted...but they're just stories... I saw some lights on there, so there must be people at least...."

Then she heard it, more child-like laughter, but looking behind her she could see them now, young kids, dressed entirely in black with hoodies. Genderless by all appearance. This wasn't something you find in anywhere but a city.

Tiaan gulped in horror and grabbed hold of Jenny out of fear.

Their eyes, their eyes...

Their eyes...

They were black... absolutely black no other colour.

Then it spoke, in a slow monotone, "You need to let us IN." it emphasized the in most of all as they started to surround them all.

Tiaan was still clutching Jenny in terror, then remembering she pulled out her gun and aimed at closest one, the child hardly came up to her height. Still she held gun at the thing and said in scared tone, "Stay away, not afraid to use it."

Still they came.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Even after firing the three shots, the kids still started to surround them.
All througout this ordeal, Jenny had been scared, holding tightly to Tiaan. She tried to be brave, but it was hard. Jenny muttered to herself, with a shaky voice, "I-I knew it...the r-rumors were t-true..." She felt as though she was about to die.

Day 3 - 03:30 - The Bridge

Sensing someone else needed protecting, Tiaan forced a calm facade on, "We can make this, and with that she bum-rushed the closest one, dragging Jenny behind her. Then with an growing unease, she ran towards the bridge; at this point she was glad to see some lights nearby.

The kids laughed and crowed, not even following.

Just then it dawned on Tiaan what it had been about, halfway across bridge, she realized it had been a trap, and now only direction to go was across the bridge.

Taking hold of Jenny's hand she said in most reassuring tone, "And people wonder why I don't want kids."

It was hollow but it snapped Jenny out of her stupor as she gave a small chuckle.

With that they traversed the bridge, and crossed on to land. Without fully comprehending, Tiaan turned around and whispered, "Jenny, we're going to need a bigger boat."

The bridge was gone, which was even scarier; it was like it had never been there at all. They could see the town, and where the bridge once was, but nothing signalling one had been there previously.

Tiaan simply stared at the cliff opening and closing mouth, before stating dumbly, "Bridge gone... bridge gone."
Ironically, at this point, Jenny had more or less calmed herself down. She gave Tiaan a gentle slap. "Get a hold of yourself, Tiaan. Are you really surprised by THAT after all that's happened? C'mon, let's go."

Day 3 - 03:40 - Eden Isle

"Bridges don't vanish, I could accept demonic children, I could accept freaky townspeople, but bridges just going poof, bridges going, that there is something that bothers me." How the hell could she control herself, bridges just didn't go away, bridges were big heavy things, bridges couldn't fly nor were they easy to run away with. There goes theory of those demonic toerags stealing it.

Jenny sighed, and slapped her forehead. "I think there's something fundamentally wrong with that statement. You can accept demon children, but not cursed, disappearing, whatever, bridges? C'mon, hun." She gave the still baffled Tiaan another peck on the lips before dragging her deeper into the woods. "I saw a cabin this way. It'll be better than staying here, at least there are probably people there."

"I need to make phonecall" she pulled out her cell and dialed number, a few rings later, a tired voice answered.

"Hello, Ruby in dreamland right now, please leave a message after the beep."
Yelling desperately Tiaan interrupted, "Ruby, Ruby, call the police, call whoever, we're stuck in this town called Eden."
Just then Ruby picked up and replied, "We? What do you mean we?"
Tiaan could hear Jenny laughing, and not even bothering to cover reciever she shouted, "Jenny, quiet." In horror she realized what she did, "Wait, it's not how it sound."
"Go to hell Tiaan and don't even try call back, we're through. One trip, just one trip and you decide to sleep with some random skank."
Trying desperately to not to start crying Tiaan pleaded, "Please, look we need help, we've almost been killed."
"Good, now, good night and fuck off."

With that the phone hung up, looking at Jenny in fury she whispered very harshly, "YOU." not even caring what was said, she continued, "I should have shot you earlier."

Jenny turned around slowly and in a calm voice said, "You know you don't believe that, and you know that you can still fix this. But for that, we both have to survive." Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted the Cabin up on a faraway hill. "C'mon, let's get back to the other side, and I'll help you clear things up with this person."

Turning away, she rubbed her eyes and let out a sad moan, "I prepare for any eventuality, and yet still end up in situation can't handle..."
Jenny sighed gently, before walking to Tiaan and placing a hand on her shoulder. "You can't be prepared for everything. That's what friends are for, right?" She gave another gesture towards the cabin. "Now c'mon. Seriously. Life, then we fix this."

No matter how much Tiaan knew she was right, she just wanted to mope, "It was supposed to be easy hitch-hike across to NY from Cali, I know it's long journey, but I thought could handle this. Any guy tried anything, they'd be threatened with losing their jewels or get shit kicked into them." she sighed and tears fell from her eyes.

Pulling the crying woman into a hug, Jenny patted her back gently. "It'll be okay." She pushed them apart, and looked into Tiaan's eyes. "But, we REALLY need to go. It's already dark." And she began to move them both again towards where she remembered the cabin to be.

Hearing a sound, Tiaan pulled out her handgun and began walking slowly towards the disturbance, gripping the handle tightly and keeping a close eye on Jenny.

Remembering something, Tiaan russled through her bag, finally withdrawing pepper spray, gesturing to Jenny she handed and whispered. "Aim for eyes"

As the two conversed, a nearby bush had been shaking idly. In a swift gust of wind, a large four-legged creatur dove out from the bush, knocking the woman onto their asses. It snarled, its breath resembling heavy winds. "You human's invade my forest and I follow the rules, but you break them!" She growled, snarling as the two woman sat silently. "The last humans lost and they attacked me!" Her breath was labored, the thing was clearly weakened.

It resembled a large lion, with the head of a women and the wings of an eagle. She stepped forward, her mouth hanging wide as Tiaan interrupted. "S-S-Stop!" She screamed, the beast faltering. "We'll play by the rules, just don't-" She cut Tiaan short "I'm bored of riddles anyways!"
"W-we'll do something else then!" Jenny interrupted. " I'm impatient!" The beast barked, "You have ten minutes or I eat you both!" It eyed the two hungirly, its nostrils flaring.

Tiaan turned to Jenny desperately, "Any ideas?"

Jenny stared at the Sphinx for a second, before speaking. "Well..w-what haven't you seen before?" Her voice quivered.
"I've lived in Greece, I've seen everyhing there is to see. INCLUDING two women."

Gulping nervously, Tiaan figured she would try, "When was the last time you were kissed?" What on God's Green Earth had posessed her to ask that?
The beast watch the two curriously "What use do I have for a kiss?!"

Tiaan turned to Jenny and mouthed "Pepper Spray!", hoping to god that she got the hint.
Jenny stood, feigned confidence in her voice "Just let me do it! If you want to kill us afterwards, go ahead"
The beast began to refuse, but gave up with a grunt. "Do it, mortal"

Jenny took a few shaken steps forward, looking up at the Sphinx. It's breath enveloped her, blowing against he skin like a heavy storm. She drew there lips closer, about to meet when she stopped. With one swift movement, she raised the can of pepper spray to its eye and blinded the beast. "Run!" Jenny screamed

With a great, mighty roar, the Sphinx furiously tried to claw Jenny, but fortunately she seemed to have ducked down. Tiaan took this chance and aiming down the sights she fired her gun three times, "Let's go!"

Without checking if Jenny was behind her, she ran, hearing the creature scream, "You whores!" It yelped in pain as the bullets grazed her skin.

Quickly turning and spotting Jenny behind her, Tiaan continued on, ignoring the eyes spying on her behind every tree and bush. Just kept running and running.

Panting, her chest felt like it was going to burst. The phone slipped from her pocket but she couldn't stop, looking back only to check if Jenny was there.

Tiaan collapsed as the woods seemed to end, falling onto her knees. She looked up, hoping to see the cabin infront of her. To her dismay, a lake sat between her and the cabin. "No! Fuck!"

Tiaan, waited hopefully for Jenny, not sure if she had heard screams of pain, or weird monstrous sounds, was Jenny dead? It was her fault then? Oh god, oh god, what the hell was she going to do?

Bursting through some foliage, Jenny gasped for breath. She saw the lake as well, and punched the ground. She looked up at Tiaan. "Really? A freaking lake? Out of the Sphinx and into the frying pan, much?"

Grinning Tiaan laughed loudly, I could kiss you, seriously, pepperspraying a mothefucking Sphinx? If you weren't a girl, I'd say you have fucking balls."

Jenny gave a coughing laugh, as she tried to breathe. "Last time I checked, I didn't have any. And you probably shouldn't, Ruby would be angrier."

Slowly walking over to Jenny, Tiaan smiled softly and then grabbing ahold of her, leaned and kissed her hard, not caring about anything, just relieved so relieved. She hugged her close, just being so happy they'd survived.

Jenny's eyes widened for a second, but she relaxed, being so exhausted. As they parted, Jenny spoke up, breaking the illusion.
"I'm glad we're okay for now, but Tiaan...there's still that lake..."

Still high over facing near death, Tiaan grinned stupidly, "We'll survive."

"Look, honey, I'm glad you're happy and stuff, but how are we gonna get across? I mean, it's right there, but...." Jenny tried to smile back, but was also intent on keeping them alive.

A old feeble figure appeared out of the mist enveloping the lake. He stood on a small rowboat, rowing methodically over to the two. He stopped as he got close enough to be heard. "Care to cross? These water's are unsafe, only i can protect you from the hazardous creatures which dwell inside of it.

Eyes could be seen, pe3ring up at them from underneath the surface of the sea.

Tiaan leveled her gaze before frowning, "Everything so far has tried to kill us, what makes you any different." she continuedly frowned, "In fact I do know myths Charon, and I know you were Hades' Ferryman."

He chuckled softly "Suit yourself, I don't have time for your mortal worries" He slowly turned, beginning to row away. "Good luck with the mermaids." He laughed.

Jenny punched Tiaan in the arm gently, and spoke up, "Maybe... we'll come if you tell us why you won't kill us, considering we met a Sphinx and Demonic
Children, and both tried to do us in, it's only normal for us to be so reserved."

He continued rowing slowly, his voice lingering behind him "I told you girls- You're the ones who need help, not me"
"We're simply asking, why would you help us when everything else tried to kill us?"

Jenny interjected, "What do you want as payment? In the legend it was some Greek coins or something, is that still what you want? Because I'll tell you now, we obviously don't have any."

"Hold on there---" Tiaan spoke up, "Seriously we're going to trust this guy without any proof he won't fling us in the river, or take us the River Styx in hell itself. You said it yourself Jenny, we must stay focused. Trusting a demon not to betray us, is like trusting a politician not to screw people."

Jenny grabbed Tiaan by both shoulders looking her in the eye. "Well, dear. Look at it this way." She pointed towards the forest, then back at Charon. "Either we get on that boat or we take our chances with the Sphinx, and die for sure. Your call.

"I'm keeping an eye on you Charon, and I don't care if dead can't die, I'll find a way. For now, we'll trust you." Gingerly Tiaan approached the boat, knowing for sure this was a trap, but also knowing it was either this or face a very pissed off Sphinx, and probably more.

Charon smirked, rowing the boat back to shore. "Get on."

Glaring at the void where Charon's face was, Tiaan stepped on, turning off safety on her gun in her pocket ready for anything. At least, she hoped. Jenny followed shortly after.

Day 3 - 08:00- Eden Lake

"Row row row your boat, gently down the stream~" Charon sang softly as he cast the both into the middle of the sea,

"So what was it like taking Heracles across the Styx?" It was fortunate Tiaan loved Greek mythology so much, but honestly she would rather not have met the actual creatures.

Jenny rolled her eyes a bit. She'd only been with Tiaan for a while, but she WOULD ask about myths while they were on a boat with the Ferryman of Hades.
His expression turned stern as his song was cut short. "Do not bring up my past, mortal, it is not wise." He seemed angered, rowing on softly. "Do it again and I feed you to that mermaid who's been folowing us for the last 10 minutes"

Snickering, Tiaan smirked, "I know why it bothers you." Just then Jenny practically pushed her down on boat, giving a dangerous look.

He grunted, turning and swinging the oar at her, stopping at Tiaan's neck. He pushed it forward, knocking her onto her back. "Oh, do you? Care to explain?"

Jenny chose that moment to spontaneously hug Tiaan, and whispered into her ear. "You don't trust him, and now you're making him angry? C'mon, girl. I thought you wanted to live through this." She turned back to Charon. "Don't mind her, she's still on a high from getting away from the Sphinx."

Tiaan stared off into the distance, "Hold on, we're not moving closer to the other side."

They had stopped, only minutes away from shore.

"No, you're not" He smiled, placing the oar at his side. "Where is my payment? Two gold coins for each of you"

Checking her pockets, she pulled her card, "Do you take plastic?"

He slammed the oar against her hand, sending the card into the water and probably breaking a few fingers, if not all of them. "Do not play with me, women"

Wincing, she rubbed her hand, which had thankfully been strengthened from Judo. Checking her pockets she shrugged, "There's no gold coins in or currency, they're silver, copper and bronze"

He growled "I don't care, 4 gold coins or you both die."

'Great, now if only we had gold paint.' she thought. 'Wait, there was something. They both had gold, wasn't gold coins, but it was gold.' "Jenny, your earrings. They're gold, right?"

While waiting for an answer, she sighed, and looked at her finger. Was it really worth it? It wasn't even that expensive, but she felt that if she gave this away, then it would be officially over between her and Ruby.

Trying to keep tears from falling, she pulled off her promise ring and handed it over.

She whispered to Jenny, her eyes wet, "I don't think old world loyalties matter now..."

Looking him in the face, she said, "That should cover both of us. It cost just over 200 dollars."

He examined the piece of jewelry, weighin them in the palm of his hand. He snickered, looking at the two women. "This is enough"

He rose his frail, sickly hand, a single finger slowly rising. "It's enough for one of you"

Sighing Tiaan, whispered, "Sorry, I tried. He needs the earrings too."
Jenny made a face. "These weren't that big a deal. But, there isn't any trust here, Charon, so we'll do this the usual business style. You bring us closer, and I'll give you the rest of your gold."

He laughed, "I meant with the earings"

Tiaan finally had enough, "Fuck this." pulling her gun she fired the gun at bottom of the boat, then with careful positioning, she kicked through.

Fear flashed across Charon's face "What have you done!" The boat began sinking into the lake.

"What's wrong? Can't swim?" Tiaan taunted.

Signalling Jenny and tossing her the gun, Tiaan jumped overboard. Using all her strength, she swam towards the shore, taking one look to see Charon struggling and sinking slowly. Landing on shore she yelled, "Go back to hell."

Jenny didn't know how to use the pistol, but it obviously wasn't hard to pull a trigger. She aimed at the water behind Tiaan, firing off the rest of the clip before
jumping in as well. "Goddamned mermaids, hope you suck a bullet.", she spat. She swam after Tiaan, finally pulling herself onto the shore.

The mermaids had begun to tear at the sickly legs of Charon. They didn't care who he was; they just ripped him apart. His blood was black as ink, polluting the lake slowly. His face covered with anger and pain.

Day 3 - 12:00 - The Cabin (Outside)

"Give me the gun back, please."

Jenny just stared at Tiaan. "It's wet."

She took the gun from Jenny, dropping it in her bag. She pulled out a box of bullets, "Never hurts to be prepared." Carefully emptying the gun of water, she gave it a once over with a cloth while the screaming of Charon continued in the distance. Satisfied, she begun to refill the barrel, before cocking the chamber, and firing a shot up in the air.

Surprisingly it fired.
"No harm done."

Waving her hand in front of Jenny face, she smiled, "I thought you be overjoyed, we made it?"

Jenny shuddered. "I'm not gonna be happy until we're off this island, but I'll settle for going in that cabin."

Grabbing her bag, she placed it on her shoulder, and took Jenny's hand, she slowly removed her earrings and handed them too Jenny, "They're diamond, got given them by my Granny long ago, you can have them."

"These? I can't possibly take these." Jenny looked up, surprised. But after a second, she grinned. "Remember? I barely even know you."
"For someone who hardly knows me, we've got my girlfriend believing we're together, we've made out once or twice and now survived three times by parting with the old world treasures. If that's hardly knowing a person, then I think rather take that."

Squeezing Jenny's hand, she whispered softly "It's time we lived for now. Take them, it's better you have them. My Granny would of liked you anyways"

Seeing the cabin now in sight, Tiaan grinned, "Shall we see if anyone home. Hell way things going, I bet the Witch from Hansel and Gretel lives here." shivering she then added, "Least it's easy to kick an old woman ass."

Jenny was putting on her new earrings when she snickered and placed a finger on Tiaan's lips. "You talk too much for someone who almost died by crazy lion-lady and mythical boatman of death." Let's find out if anyone's home."

"You forget---." Tiaan promptly found the finger to her lips again. "Shhhh."

Nodding, Tiaan took note and grinned, yelling "Little pigs, little pigs let me in!"
With that she walked over to the door and knocked hard.

Day 1 - 09:35 - Eden Isle

She wiped the last bit of mascara from her eyes onto her arm, tossing shit into her bag and zipping it up, throwing it over her shoulder. Her jacket hood up to keep her wet hair from killing her in the cooler air, she moved out of the bedroom and tried to slip away in the chaos that was going on in the living room with the injured cabin mates.

She held her breath for long periods of time. She wouldn't be able to breathe freely until she at least got onto the mainland. She started to make her way down the road towards the bridge.

As the women walked down the croded darkness that was the forest, a pair of eyes followed her intently. They were red, resembling that of a bat.
In a heavy gust, it dove infront of the girl. It was a large, bat like creature. It stoof nearly 6 feet tall, its fangs stained red.
It pounched forward, knocking her to the floor. The bat opened its mouth, growling loudly at her. His breath feeling like a heavy storm against her skin.
She was ready this time, and she swung her bag at the creature as it pounced, connecting. but not enough to deter the creature. "Fucking hell!" she snarled, foolishly slamming her first into the bat monster's lower jaw in hopes of at least getting it off of her, if not breaking its jaw completely. "Ugly thing!"
It whimpered with pain as its head twisted sideways. It turned back towards her, the strike only suceeding in angering the bat more. It raised one of its wings, bringing the sharp spike at the end of it down on Charlie's hand. He did the same with the other hand, punning her to the ground.
It lowered it's head intently, opening wide as it readied itself to sever her head with it's teeth.

Being more than royally fucked, and nailed through the hands like Jesus on the motherfucking cross, Charlie did the only defiant thing she could think to do, spit vehemently into the bat's eyes before it would inevitably bite her head off. "Fuck you and fuck this island!"
Spoken like a true junkpunk, Charlie. God bless.

The bat didnt falter, it reached down, ready to tare her head off-
Before it could, a loud yell cut it short "Stop!" His voice was harrowing and defiant. It was-
The demon that had attacked her earlier? The one with the horns and wings. Was it back to finish her off?
The bat looked up at the Demon, slowly pulling its wings out of the girls hands. It stepped forward, hissing at him. "I found her, i'll do what i please" The bat hissed.

"No, you wont. Be gone, beast, or i'll kill you where you stand" The Demon seemed all too confident.

The bat stepped forward-

"You know what i am capable of-" The demon warned.

With a heavy grunt, the bat turned away. "You wont always be the strongest creature around, there's things stronger than god on this island" It taunted, and with a mighty gust of its wings, the bat was gone.

The demon turned to Charlie, reaching down and pulling her up by her shoulder. His wings flapped idly behind him. "Are you trying to die? This is not a playground"

She tested her hands. They still worked, thankfully, but she'd have to get them taken care of as soon as she got over to the mainland. Upon the Demon's return, she rose her her feet and backed away. "N-no. Nonono," she shook her head. Sure, he saved her, but why else other than to eat her himself?

"I want to go home BEFORE I die out here."

He growled "Stop whimpering, women" He reached down and grabbed her hands. "He could of ripped these off you know" Running his thumbs roughly across the wounds, the skin would seeminly reconnect, healing her palms. "Weak, pathetic humans"

Why was he helping her? Had the demon taken a liking to Charlie?
"The bridge is gone, look for yourself" He pointed to the former location of the bridge. "Its invisble for us on the island, you cant see nor touch it. Meaning, you cant cross over it. It's a one way thing"

She glanced over the treeline and noticed that indeed, the bridge was gone. "You're kidding...You're fucking KIDDING me." She blinked at her hands, confused as to why he would even bother healing her. Wasn't he one of the monsters that wanted them all dead? "I don't know what you want from me- but...the others are probably so much tastier."

"Stop attempting to throw your friends in front of the bus, its unfitting. Your facade doesnt phase me, you arent as you try to appear" He turned, watching the tree's cautiously "I dont want to eat you, im an incubus you fool" He growled.

"Go back to the cabin, it's not safe here"

She picked up her bag with narrowed eyes. "Friends. What friends? The only person I cared about in that group is already dead." Owch Charlie, owch. She was probably still speaking out of hurt/shock, but still.

He looked at her intently "You're a liar. I swear, human's are worst than demons. At least we are honest"

As soon as the last word escape his mouth, a handful of shadowy creatures would appear infront of them. "What did we tell you about hording the humans?" They spoke in monotone, closing in on the pair. The demon instinctively pulled Charlie behind him. "I'll do what i please" He spit.
"W-what are those?" she stuttered out more than happy to have the demon between herself and the shadow creatures. She was starting to consider that maybe the cabin was the safest spot on the island.

He ignored her question, stepping forward to face them. He withdrew a deeply blackend sword, pointing it at one of the creature's neck. "You're not taking this one, so leave while you can"

"Oh, you silly incubus. These humans do not love you, they dont care for you, why do you cahse them endlessly?"
In a moments time they darted forward, slashing down at the demon with bladed hands. He brought his blade up, trying his best to fight off the endless waves of attacks. He managed to seperate from the group, taking one of the creatures with him. He threw it to the floor, stabbing the edge of the sword through it's neck. The other's wailed in pain, throwing themselves at the demon.

He seemed small, weak, even fragile against the monsters. He tried to fend them off, cutting down a majority of the creatues.
But he was tired, worn out. He staggered as they peirced his skin, beating him to his knees. The two remaining creatures readied their final blow, but as their bladed hands flew down words in an attempt to deliver the fatal blow, he whipped his arms out from under him. He knocked the two to the floor, standing over them.

"Im not as weak as you believe"

He bent down, picking the two up by their necks. He brought his fingers together as they turned to smoke in his hands.
He sighed heavily, dropping to his knees. He panted, blood curled coughs falling from his mouth. His body was strewn with scars.
He was a demon. He was tormenting her. But he was hurt, and he saved her not once, but twice. Charlie couldn't stay cold forever, as much as she tried to act the bitch, she just wasn't. "Are you...are you okay?" She glanced at the blood and shuddered. "I don't know if I can do anything to help."

He grunted, standing slowly and facing her. "Dont touch me" He coughed, his tail swinging idly behind him. He grabbed her by the back of her shirt, placing her over his shoulder. "We're going back to the Cabin"
She squealed as he picked her up, making sure to grab her bag in the process. "I just wanted to-" she dropped off quickly, slumping. "...thank you for saving me."

He looked away in feigned disgust, taking off into the air. "Don't thank me, im not your knight in shining armor. I just dont want them to get to you before i do"
He attempted to avert her gratitude, he was a demon after all, not an angel.

Charlie yelped and really grabbed onto him then for fear of falling. Did I mention she's afraid of heights, no? Well she's afraid of heights. "Ohgodohgodohgod..."

He came to rest at the window-cell, dropping her back in. "Now stay"

Her heart pounding so hard she feared it might rip from her chest, she collapsed onto the bed, assuming they were back in the bedroom. It was as if she'd never left.

Day 1 - 09:32 - Bedroom 1

"Okay, so where's that bag of yours?" Devin said as they entered the bedroom, also scanning the room for any other iron that could potentially be used.
Calleigh walked silently to the bed, crouching down and peering under. She sighed, continuing on searching the room for the bag. It must of been 30, maybe 40 minutes before she found it. It was almost as if someone moved the bag-

She search through the bag, removing a small vile and the iron cross. She looked up to Devin with a smile. "Here it i-" Before she could finish, she was pulled underneath the bed, her shallow screams muffled.

"Callie!" Devin quickly ran over to the bed, letting himself fall on the ground and quickly reach underneath the bed with one hand to pull the deaf girl from underneath 'possible' death. "Grab my hand!" He said, panickly moving around with his hand

There was no response, just quiet. The scream had died down along with whatever was under the bed.

Devin crawled up from the floor, placing both his hands on the lower side of the bed, and flip it. (Or at least raise it.) What he found, was nothing. No trace of Calleigh, or whatever it was what pulled her down. "Fucking, dammit!" The tech yelled. Instantly dropping the bed as he once more panicked.

He ran out of the bedroom, and into the living room. The shock and panick written all over his face. "Calleigh's fucking gone!"

Day 1 - 10:01 - The Living Room

Before he could finish, Devin came into the room screaming. "Calleigh, she's gone-"

Charlie was hiding behind a nearby doorway, watching the scene unfold. The dicleration of Calleigh's death stunned her. "This must be the demon-" She stormed back up to her bedroom to confront him.

Andy was back on her feet again, stepping around Gabe as though he wasn't even there, all but storming up to Devin.
"What do you mean she's gone?"

"Gone. Disappeared. Just, gone. I don't fuckin' know!"

Gabriel stood, putting a hand on Devin's shoulder. "People dont just disapear, did something grab her?"

"I'm not standing around to listen to this," Andy said sharply. "Have you even looked?! She can't just disappear."
Without waiting for an answer, she backed up from the pair, and immediately began to search the house.
Tears ran down her face the whole while. "Callie!"

"Something grabbed her from underneath the bed." Devin said, glaring back at the hallway for no apparent reason. "I pulled the bed on its side, nothing was there. She's fucking gone, man!"

He eyed Andy, shaking his head. He immiediately looked back up at Devin when he began to give his description. "It was a Lulu-" Suddenly, his expression turned to panick. "Andy!" He looked over Devin's shoulder. "I know you're upset, you have every right to be, but im NOT letting that thing get you too. Come here!" He shouted, a stern expression taking to his face.

She was already out of his sight, disappearing around the corner and into the room. There she saw the bed over-turned, and no sign of Callie.
"For God's sake," Andy breathed, putting a hand to her mouth and closing her eyes. "What in the flying fuck is going on?"
As she turned back to the doorway to leave, it slammed shut, and the lights flicked off.

She stumbled forward, her throat going dry as paper as she scrambled for the wall, for the doorknob, anything.
"GABE!" She shrieked, her voice shrill with panic. When she came into contact with the door, and found the knob, it was superheated, like it had been held to a flame for hours. She couldn't touch it.

Gabriel jumped at her sceams as he ran down the hall way. He stopped at the door, attempting to turn the handle.
"Motherfucker!" He yelled, pulling his hand back.

He placed his hands on the door, attempting to gather Andy's attention.
"Andy, listen. Breath. It's a Lulu.... the boogeyman" He shuttered for a moment, realizing how insane he sounded.
"It's out from under the bed, it can only hurt you if you fear it. Calm down Andy, just breath"
He pounded on the door, "Fuck!"
"Andy, please~"

She had shoved herself to the wall, the flat of her spine pressed painfully into the wood. Her eyes were wide, pupils stretched to accomodate for the thick darkness, and her hands clenched the carpet so tightly she could feel her nails tear.

"Hey Andy," A voice came from the darkness, one hand gripping her ankle, sliding up towards her knee.

She felt like she was going to throw up. The belonged to her brother.

She turned her head to the side, rolling her jaw as she squeezed her eyes shut. "You're...not here. You can' can't hurt me here." she whispered, one hand coming up to clasp her mouth.

"Just leave me alone."

"Not likely."

A dark chuckle. She cried out when her ankle was visciously jerked, dragging her away from the wall. "It isn't WORKING Gabe!" she said loudly, trying to scramble back, yanking her ankle from the monster's grasp.

It got her higher on her legs, painfully digging its nails into her skin.

He banged against the door, cringing at her screams. "Andy!"

He slid down to his knees, the palms of his hands resting against the door. "Andy" He spoke in calm whispers "Listen to me. I'm write here, you know id never let anything hurt you. I've never broke a promise to you, and i don't plan on starting now"
He paused for a moment, listening intently.

"Andy...i said i'd get you out of here alive"

"Im right here, you're safe. It cant hurt you if you don let it. It cant even touch you. Just dont be afraid, dont show it your fear"

"Im right here"

She grit her teeth. Nice of him to say those things when HE wasn't getting pinned by the motherfucking boogeyman.

Ugh, men.

"Muuuhh." she groaned, drawing up her leg and kicking the monster square in the gut. The creature huffed, collapsing a few feet away from her. She scrambled to her feet, staring into the darkness at the shape that loomed across the room.

"Listen here, you cheap excuse for a Hollywood movie prop, you're going to stop impersonating my shitty brother and open the goddamn door."
The sound of scuttling steps met her proclamation, and something crashed loudly on the other side of the room.
Might have been the bed.

There was a breath of silence, then the lights flickered back on, and if Gabe were to try getting in again, the door would collapse in on him, and she would find freedom.

Day 1 - 23:00 - Living Room

Devin had gone to sleep, Stefan too. Charlie was upstairs seemingly talking to herself last time they checked, and she seemed to have grown tired of it and fallen asleep as well.

Gabriel sat on the couch, his arm wrapped protectively around Andy. One hand gently brushing her shoulder.
The telivision was playing some horror movie, probably not the best idea with what had happened earlier that day, but neither of them were really watching. Gabriel held her like she could be pulled from his grasp any minute.
Despite the fact that she could clearly fend for herself, he sat there like a guard dog. He would'nt lose Andy.

He Couldnt.

She leaned against his side, her eyes half-lidded from exhaustion, but she had no interest in sleeping. Even if Gabe was here, she was afraid that something might happen, that she wouldn't be prepared. It was awful, sitting here and just waiting for the next horrific event. Looking out over the others, who slept as soundly as one could in this scenario, she turned her head to the side, lightly pressing her mouth to his shoulder before mumbling,
"I think I yelled at you at some point today. I don't remember when or why, but you didn''t deserve it. M'sorry..."

He peered down at her from the movie, tilting his head curiously as the girl shifted in his arms. "You dont have anythin to be sorry for, Andy" He moved his other hand to her cheek, running his thumb across her fordead.

His hand slipped beneath her chin, propping her face up towards him. He stared into her eyes for a moment before turning back to face the tv, letting his hand slip from underneath her chin.

"You have pretty eyes, ya' know"

She smirked, turning to nestle against his side and closing her eyes.

"Nice move, Cassanova. Wrong party though."

She was referring to their situation, of course. "Not that I don't appreciate the compliment."

He moved his hand through her hair gingerly, his eyes idly tracing the figures on the television screen.

"We cant cease to live our lives. I mourn our friends just as you do, but if we give up, if we curl up and cry-

We arent doing any of them justice"

He sighed, peeking back at her for a moment before his eyes wandered back to the television screen. He had dealt with loss before, it made him somewhat -

Tolerant against the subject. It hurt him none the less, but he refused to show it. He owed Andy that much, a shoulder to lean on, not a broken mess.

"I'm not giving up." she promised him, closing her eyes again. "Just a lot to take in."

She reached to take his hand, wincing slightly when her shoulder twinged with pain. "I'll try to keep it together. Usually I'm really good at that."
She was very good at hiding what was really bothering her.

He looked back at her once again, allowing his hand to rest in hers. "I'm sorry, the last thing i asked of you is to hide your emotions.

He looked at the expression on her face, searching for some sort of cause behind it. "Did i do something wrong? Im sorry if i did" He frowned idly.
She looked up at him and smiled just a little. "Nah, you're great."

She blushed, turning back to the tv and taking in a breath. "Just no need to be a hysterical mess, you know?"

"You know im not going to let this go, can you tell me Andy? After everything thats happened-"

"I dont think we can get much closer and there's really nothing you cn say that'll make me think any less of you"

She shifted, glancing up at his face, his eyes for just a moment. "I don't know what your'e talking about..."
But she was pretty sure she did.

"Andy-" He spoke sternly

"What do you want me to say?" Andy replied, attempting to pull away. "If there's soemthing you want to talk about just say so. I don't like this evasive beat-around-the-bush shit." She glared at him, her brow furrowed, walls coming up as he began to tread on dangerous territory.

"You know what, Andy. I saw what your brother did too you. How he handled you-"

He caught himself, but it was too late, the words had escaped his moth already.

She stared at him for a long moment, then looked away. She didn't look angry...just tired.

"Why would you want to talk about that? It's nothing." she replied quietly, pulling her knees up.

He sighed, shaking his head slowly "And-" The girl had been through enough today.
Instinctively, he bent forward and laid a kiss on her cheek. He pulled back, his face lingering a few inches from her's. "I-uh, im sorry. I dont know what came over me"

She blushed, remaining silent for a long moment before she drew in a breath and sighed.

"No, it's okay. I'm surprised you didn't ask me before...Eh, Shaun's always been a bit...possessive."

Gross understatement.

He leaned back "Possesive? You're not an object and you dont belong to anyone, especially not that bas-" He stopped himself again, anger strewn across his face.

"Easier said," she replied with a mild shrug. "It's hard to escape him when you grow up with him. Leaves a lot of opportunities, you know?"

He could think she was talking about the abuse, but she was hinting at something far more sinister.

"Opertunities?" He though of stopping for a moment, but if what he thought she was getting at was true...

"What do you mean by opertunities? For what?"

"Whatever he wants." she replied darkly, looking away. "He got away with a shit ton of stuff, Gabe."
She shuddered.

"Stuff my parents don't even know about. They wouldn't believe me if I told them."

His expresion grew seriious, stern as her words peirced him like a knife. "H-"

He didnt need to ask, he understood all to wel. He tried to control his anger, welling up inside of him and tugging at his chest. He moved his hand into his hair, forming a tight fist.

"I should of fucking know.." He muttered under his breath.

The anger was clawing at him. He was ready to erupt, find that bastard and put a bullet straight through his skull. He was lucky they were stuck here-

It wasnt a hollow threat

She looked at him worriedly, her hand coming up to rest on his shoulder.
"I, it's fine..he moved out. I haven't had to deal with him for a while..."

Shit. This was no good...

"When we get back, you're not going back to that house-

You're going to come and stay with me, unless you can find somewhere else to go. But you're not returning there"
He tried to control his anger, his hand still gently brushing her hair.

"I can't just do that, Gabe. My parents wouldn't let me." She was tempted, Oh how she was tempted, but really? What was the possibility of that happening?
"Look, it's sweet that you care...but it just... it isn't an issue now. It's just a bad time in my life. Nasty memories." She looked away from him, lifting a hand to rub at her forehead.

He sighed, looking away from her. "We'll talk about this later" He moved away from her, farthering the distance between them. "You need your sleep, go to bed. I dont plan on sleeping, ill watch over you" His eyes wandered back off to the tv, fighting back an angry expression.

She hesitated, staring at him for a long moment before looking away, choosing instead to curl up on the end of the couch furthest away from him.

What? Did he think she was dirty? Tainted?

It wasn't fair.

She rested her head on her arm, closing her eyes as tears burned at the corners, and tried to sleep.

He looked over to her, watching as she slowly drifted to sleep. "I dont think any less of you, Andy. I hope you know that" His voice slowly faded. "I love you-" He spoke in a faint whisper, half hoping she didnt hear it.

She was being pulled into the throws of unconsciousness, barely aware that Gabe was speaking to her until she heard the faint whisper brush against her ears.
"Thanks," she murmured back before finally falling asleep.

Day 1 - 09:30 - The Basement

As Devin and Callie disappeared upstairs, Stefan was feeling slightly useless, so he hobbled from the couch without anyone really noticing. Ice would come later, because he wanted to help, he looked around a few places but without much success. He found a door with a set of stairs going down, and two things crossed his mind. Great stairs, and its dark and I have no flashlight.

He checked the wall for a switch, and luckily for him he found one. The light was dim, and he couldn't see into the corners of the basement, but he spotted what looked like some old pipes or something of the like. So he sat down and took the steps with on his bottom, it was the less painful way to go down them at the moment.

When he reached the bottom he stood with some difficulty and started very slowly toward his objective.
From under the stairs a pair of red, glowing eyes could be seen. The eyes multiplied, growing from 1 pair to 6, all belonging to the same creature. They traced Stefan's path as he attempted to navigate the stairs.

As Stefan's foot touched the floor, it pounced, breaking through the wood and knocking him to the floor. It looked like a spider, except giant.
It glared at Stefan, hissing angrily as it got closer to the defenseless boy. The Spider raised its head, a stream of white netting material flying out towards him.

Stefan hadn't the sense to make a sound as he heard wood breaking behind him. He had only the chance to turn slightly as the something rather huge pounce and knock him to the floor. He eyes got bigger as he looked up with fear, and for a fragment of a second he had to make sure what he was looking at was real. So he counted the legs, yep definitely eight.

He tried hard to scramble from underneath the spider toward the corner with the pipes, just maybe if he could them, he would have something to defend himself with. However before he got to far the giant arachnid began spitting white sticky netting at him, so with his good leg he attempted to kick that particular spot on spider's head. Mostly to distract it for a second longer to gain another attempt at crawling away.

Stefan's foot landed straight against the spider's face, forcing it to shudder and step back. It glared at him, intent in his eyes as he slowly made his way back to him. It shook its head slowly, still recovering from the strike.

It was infuriated, a green tinted venom leaking from its mouth. It stopped as it reached Stefan, raising its leg and attempting to bring it down onto Stefan's shoulder.

The progress backwards was slow and very painful, but he was almost at the pile of pipes. He looked back just to see the spider's leg coming toward him, and he couldn't react in time. He felt the jolt of pain in his shoulder, as the spider's weight fell upon him. He finally yelled out in pain, and for a second he loss all sense of where he was and what was happening.

The spider seemed to snicker, slowly lowering it's mouth to Stefan's neck. It opened its jaws wide, brandishing it's large fangs. In a moment, it reached out to bite him.

It was those fangs lowered to his neck that made Stephan realize he was in deep shit. And his eyes glanced behind him and he saw a pipe just within reach, with a effort he grabbed it and stabbed at the spider's neck with all the force he could muster.

The spider screamed in pain, scrambling off of Stefan and mindlessly stumbling across the room.
As it's screams died down, it slowly fell to the floor, dead.

Stephan watched the spider stumble away and fall to the floor. He continued watching just to make sure the thing stopped moving. With the pipe he had still in his hand he managed to get up into a sitting position, trying to focus through the pain. He sort of thought that maybe his shoulder was just out of the socket, because it was facing in the wrong direction.

And he surveyed the situation, there was a dead spider, and the stairs were gone. Now what the fuck was he going to do. His first thought was to collapse just for a moment, because he hadn't the energy for a second thought and he fell back again.

After hours of unconsciousness, he finally started to move again. Groaning and moaning with just about every moment, he inspected the stairs again. So maybe they weren't broken, he could probably get back up them, so using his weapon as a cane, he hobbled one step at a time. He was half way up when he started to hear the creaks and the squeaks. It didn't sound like a good sound to him, and he moved a little faster.

Just as he reached the last step the stairs began to break. He fell into the upstairs hallway as a loud crash was heard behind him. He stayed on the ground breathing hard, and tossed the stupid pipe down the hallway. "Gabe, there's your stupid iron, now can someone help me up. And don't try the basement the stairs are gone and its infested with spiders."

Gabriel knew better than to ask questions, helping Stefan up and to a nearby Bedroom. "Get some rest man, we'll take care of that leg tomorrow" He placed a bag of ice on Stefan's ankle. "You're a tough bastard, man" He laughed before exiting the room.

Day 1 - 18:33 Bedroom 2

Upon hearing of Callie's disappearance, Charlie could only think of one culprit: the Demon. Just because he was with her didn't mean he couldn't do it with like, a proxy or something. Some demons were omnipresent, if she recalled correctly. The door didn't slam open, and so it lacked the dramatics she wished it had. She pointed at the creature perched in the tree outside her window. "You! I know you did something. Where's Callie?"

The Demon had been sitting there for a while now, quite literally licking its wounds. As Charlie shouted at him, he looked up with confusion, then with spite. "Dont you dare scream at me, mortal" He snarled, jumping through the open window.

He appeared before Charlie, cornering her against a wall, roaring loudly. It felt like a heavy storm had enveloped the room. "I can scream much louder than you"
She glared despite this. "She's been grabbed by something, if it's not you, what else is in this damn cabin? You said it was SAFE." She pushed him back, clearly not shaken enough yet. She had a little more fight in her, a little more boldness.

"I told you i have no need for your fucking friends! I dont care for them in the least" His breath was labored from his wounds. Still, it contained the ever-present feeling of great power and force. He grabbed her by the neck, raising her into the air infront of him. "I said it's safe for you, im not here to look after them!"
His fingers slowly pressed against her neck.

"But is it if there's some creature running around snatching people from beneath the goddamn be-ack!" Her retort was cut off as he lifted her into the air by the throat. She grabbed at his hand to pull him off, kicking her feet. "!!!"

His glare wavered slightly as he tried to keep on a facade of uncaring. He loosened his fingers, letting her slip to the ground. He crouched infront of her, rubbing the side of her neck. "I'm a demon, i could kill you in a second's time. Just because ive taken a liking to you doesnt mean i wont" He eyed the bruise on her neck.
She rubbed her neck as well, wheezing through an injured windpipe. "Sorry, I'm just scared out of my mind." She sat herself up. "I don't want to die. I don't want anybody else to die, really...but I'm guessing that can't be helped..."

He turned to her, a look of clear and sincere regret spread elegantly across his face. He attempted to keep that facade, of anger and torment, spite and pain.
"Im sorry, if you listened i wouldnt need to hurt you. I hate doing it, i do. But its what's expected of me so its what i give"

"I don't understand why we just can't leave? Are we all going to die here?" She picked herself back up. "Is there a point to prolonging the inevitable?"

"You're not going to die here, if you want to leave ill find a way" It was the last thing he wanted to do... to send Charlie away. He had already took a liking to this girl, so much that he'd actually hold her happiness above his. That was rare for a demon.

Hell, it was rare for a human,

She thought on this. What did she have back home anyway except for a few busted friends and 'fashion school' to look forward to. And even then, she wasn't really excited about it. "I don't know what I want to do."

It was more that she felt like she had a chance to make amends with Patrick, and blew it completely.

"Then think before you speak" The demon growled, perching on the window-cell. "Ill be back later, scream for me if you need help" With that, he was gone.
