"Live life free or not at all. It's your choice, I cannot be the decider. I will be, however, a defender."

Image
Name: Na'ari Azura

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Theme Songs:

Physical Description: "Blessed by Dragons," that is what the native denizens of the Valsir province call Red hair combined with red eyes. Na'ari stands 5'9" tall with a wiry appearance in terms of muscle. He wears the usual clothing of a tunic, along with pants made from leather when not in a battle. He also has two unique coats. A white one for spring/summer, and a black one for fall/winter.

Equipment: Draconil: A broadsword measuring five feet in blade length. Na'ari states he forged the metal of the blade himself but refuses to give up the secrets of the components.

Armor: He hand picked his armor for specific comfort of his use for his blade.

Strengths: Forger-He doubles not only as a warrior, but as a blacksmith as well, and he is talented at it. He claims he hand forged Draconil, his primary weapon, himself.

Adept swordsman- "You have to use the blade you forge for yourself." As his Father used to say. And Na'ari practices for hours on end. He is good, but there is ample room for improvement.

Weaknesses: Stubborn-He has an innate stubbornness born from distrust of other people, and this has lead him to be secretive on certain parts of his life, especially on how his Blade was forged.

Ranged attacks-As he has no range weapon, he'd be a sitting duck if Archers were to attack him.

His Mind-He has some form of condition in the mind where he cannot properly ascertain certain body languages, and makes him a bit of a short fuse in terms of anger when seeing things he doesn't like.

Image
Personality: The new recruit of the Dragon Fang band, Na'ari is everything you'd expect a newbie to be. Eager, impulsive, and overall stubborn. He loves to make new friends and is active in doing so at times, though sometimes he fails at it when they're trying to be friends with him. This is due to the fact he's slightly distracting of people, initially when meeting new people. And is secretive about the details of his life. But once said person becomes his friend, he is a loyal person, willing to put his life on the line if need be.

His biggest weakness however, is his own mind. Na'ari has a strange inability to understand certain gestures and body language cues. It's also made him slightly volatile in terms of anger. Yet it has it's perks too, as he is fond of making new things with the forge. But it's also a social weakness as if he meets a beautiful woman, he'd probably instantly get nervous and lose focus for a time.

Likes: Women, Forging, Fighting, singing, Justice, life.

Dislikes: Injustice, misery, death, suffering.

History: Na'ari Azura was born to a well known family of craftsmen and forgers, in the kingdom, but despite this slight prestige, his origins are nevertheless humble. He was an only child, "Blessed by a Dragon" or born with red hair and eyes. As a youth he found it hard to make friends because he couldn't understand certain things and was distinctly quiet. The other children made fun of him for this and simply drove him to his grandfather's workshop and forge. His Grandfather, a kind and understanding man, was a great lover of music, and in exchange for listening to Na'ari sing for a time, he taught him metallurgy, and the art of the blacksmith. He then showed his greatest treasure to him, several large slabs of black rock that he claimed "fell from the sky." Na'ari could tell some of it was metallic and wondered, if done right, it could be forged into beautiful works of art.

When he was Eight, he asked his grandfather if he could learn how to use a real sword. His grandfather obliged in teaching him how to fight, but told him his Father would have to teach him as well. It was then he learned how to fight with a blade, as well as defend himself. Eventually, he grew into his teens and fell in love with a beautiful girl from his village. Long did he want to be with her, and often dreamed of life with her as his wife. Then, everything changed when a raiding band of mercenaries attacked his home. He helped quell the attack by driving them off with the other defenders of the village, but the girl he fell for was killed. She died in his arms.

Infuriated at himself for being unable to protect someone he cared for, Na'ari opted to leave his village. But his grandfather instead pointed him to the Valsir mountains north of his village. There he would find his Grandfather's first forge, and that if Na'ari's dream of defending is what he wanted, he'd build the tool to do so. "But it will take all of your skill to survive alone, the mountains have dragons in them."

Na'ari left home, carrying some of the best known steel, along with a few pieces of his Grandfather's Sky Metal. There he lived throughout his teens, forging the tool he needed to defend people. When he was twenty, he reemerged as a Mercenary Warrior known as "The King of Dragons". He roamed from battle to battle, fighting to protect innocent people from the carnage of the civil war. He has done this for a year, and was recently recruited by Dragon Fang, on the condition he drop his title, being told that title didn't suit him yet.

Other: He has a scar on his arm from the fateful battle that sent him on this course as a warrior.

Na'ari wiped sweat from his brow as he worked. His body was warm from the toil of the forge as he worked long and hard. He couldn't afford to be half asleep. Not yet, not now. After about two hours of working before sunup and an hour after it, the sun hit his eyes as he groaned. He looked at his half finished armor and with a shrug, put his tools down and grabbed Draconil, fastening both blade and sheath on his person as he walked to the breakfast tent. He pulled out a cloth to wipe his face from the soot that might've gone on his face from the entire ordeal.

Before he could do anything, a slender hand pulled him to a table when he was wiping his eyes. Rose had discovered him and was brushing soot off his hair with her hand. "My goodness, you're all dirty from cleaning that forge? Goodness gracious you've been a busy bee." she stated as Na'ari wiped his face.

"I was making some armor to sell to the quartermaster so he can sell it to someone who needs it." the young blacksmith explained as he finished clearing soot off and gave a friendly smile before going to grab breakfast. Rose only nodded in understanding but mentally she felt like puking at all the dirt she had to throw off of his hair. She had to keep her facade up though. People were watching her, as Guild's Idol she had to keep up appearances. That and of course maintain a reputation.

Speaking of appearances, Rose noted that poor Bjork wasn't awake yet and heaved a sigh. He wasn't a morning person, and when he woke he'd be extremely grumpy. Rose had to prepare for that.

Lorelei noticed the sooty man just like everyone else in the tent. There was some odd characters inside the band but when someone walked into the tent which was supposed to feed everyone that sooty it seemed a bit strange. Or stranger than usual. At least that was what Lorelei thought. Since she was so picky when it came to cleanliness and organization she did find it a bit troublesome that he entered the place like that. She didn't like the feeling of any of his dirt touching the food she was supposed to eat - good thing she had already eaten.

Even though it was with a bit of hesitation she did rise up from the seat and make her way over to the table she had seen Rose drag away Na'ari to. Even though he wasn't there at the moment she could see where he had sat down so she avoided that chair. Not only because she guessed he would want it back when he returned with his breakfast but also because she didn't want to get her clothes dirty because of it. With a small smile towards Rose she sat down on a chair in front of her, "So you've already eaten as well? I mean since you don't attempt to fetch any."

In another part of the camp an extremely tired and sour person got rolled out of bed by another mercenary, which only led to him getting kicked by the tired one. Bjork had finally woken up, or actually no he was still asleep. But he was at least out of bed and without even dressing properly the half asleep giant made his way over to fetch some breakfast. Of course it led to a bit curious and confused glances when he walked past people only wearing pants. Ant not even proper ones. Like that he made his way into the tent without even realizing it.

"So you've eaten as well? I mean since you don't attempt to fetch any?" Rose gave a nod in confirmation as Lorelei sat down. "It wasn't really anything else to do. Sleep well Lorlei?" However, her face turned into one of slight shock as she saw Bjork walk into the tent only wearing his pants. Na'ari was on his way back when he saw Bjork too and couldn't help but hold in a laugh. He knew better then to laugh.

Of course, he looked slightly ridiculous too, with bits of soot on his face and such like as he sat back down in the chair he was at moments before. He saw Lorelei sitting next to Rose and realized by the way she looked she didn't like the way he looked right now. "I promise I'll clean up better after breakfast. Soot is hard to take off after all. " the Blacksmith said with a shrug and a smile. He chuckled, a memory of seeing his grandfather covered in soot one time after his immense flue being cleaned. His grandfather cursed to no tomorrow whilst he laughed.

He hoped Bjork was in a good mood with some food in his system. He had a slight feeling he got up on the wrong side of the bed.

"It wasn't really anything else to do. Sleep well Lorlei?"

"Of course, I always sleep well after a victory." Just as Lorelei finished her sentence she noticed that Rose's gaze drifted away and the facial expression that couldn't mean anything good. For a moment Lorelei wondered what it all could mean, she couldn't hear any tumult from outside so it couldn't be an attack. But as soon as she had turned her head around she saw what had drawn Rose attention. With deep wrinkles Lorelei glared at Bjork as he walked over to the food without even being properly dressed.

When she turned her head towards the table once more Na'ari had returned, he did apologize for his appearance but Lorelei moved her legs slightly away from him anyway. Making sure that they wouldn't accidently bump into each other and get sot on her. But even though she had made such things to avoid such an event it didn't help when the tired giant made his way over to the table with his food drawn towards those people he enjoyed to spend time with the most.

As he walked past the people sitting around the table he accidently bumped into everyone one of them, his sleepy body was to wobbly and when he finally was seated every one of the other three had gotten a taste of some part of his body. Which had ended up with Lorelei accidently being shoved towards the dirt.

Na'ari did not expect Bjork to bump into everyone at the table. He caught himself and used his one clean hand to try and get Loreli up as Rose got up from being knocked backwards, seat and all. "Idiot! Watch where you're going if you're half asleep! And where is your shirt?!" she shouted at the half dressed man As Na'ari turned back to his food and ate, regardless on if he managed to help Lorelei or not.

"Oh my, it seemed that the three of you got clobbered there." A gruff voice said. Rose sat straight up in a leisurely and appropriate fashion, to look slightly presentable for their Leader. "Is the fourth seat of this table taken?"

"Of course not Ragnar, make yourself comfortable!" Rose said, almost having a different attitude then what she had previously with Bjork a moment ago. The Leader of Dragon Fang sat down with his own breakfast and sighed. "So then, how is everyone today? Ah, Na'ari, cleaning your forge? Good man."

Na'ari gave a small shrug as he finished half of his breakfast. "Thank you sir."

"Now then, the four of you, I have something important to tell you. We are about to get a visit from the Regent Lord, the King, and several members of the Elite rankings of the Royal Army. This means be on your best behaviors. I'm telling you this first because I want you guys to help be the group to oversee the King's protection whilst he's here. Can you do that?"

Rose had a look of total shock, one would thought she'd have frozen in time. "Of course dear Leader, we will do that." Rose squeaked a reply. Inside her head, she was freaking out. "The King?! Here now?! Today?! I've been planning for this day now I don't know what to do!!"

Na'ari hearing these news had a different reaction. "Then I need to get cleaned up appropriately. Hey Bjork, want the rest of my breakfast?" Na'ari asked his drowsy counterpart of the only two males in their little fighting group.

Lorelei felt extremely humiliated while she tried to brush off the sot she had gotten on herself from landing onto Na'ari. And she would probably continue to be ashamed for the rest of the day, avoiding to look him in the face and all. She was doing it even now. She could look everywhere else but directly at his face, well not everywhere. She couldn't face the half naked Bjork either. That calm face of hers fell as soon as she got the slightest little flustered because of things like these.

But like Rose she shaped herself up in the prensence of their leader, she even felt e little bit preveleged by the fact that he sat down with them of all people. Sure, Rose was sort of an important person around here. But she was the only important person out of all of them. Or perhaps Na'ari was counted as important as well since the leader had been trying so hard to recruit him. The only one that didn't seem even the slightest bothered by the leaders presence, he didnät even seem to have notice it, was Bjork that just continued to eat like nothing had happened at all. He wasn't even paying attention to what the leader told them.

"It's an honor to be granted such an assignment, I'm sure everyone of us will do our best." Lorelei didn't know what she was supposed to say about the news. They were so large, huge. This was probably one of the biggest things that had happened to her. She couldn't actually belive it was actually happening for real. She, of all people, meeting the king. It was huge.

"Then I need to get cleaned up appropriately. Hey Bjork, want the rest of my breakfast?"

"Uh... Yeah, sure?" The sleeping beauty, sorry no the sleeping giant, finally had woken up from his slumber. At least enough to actually be able to answer the question directed towards him. And when he sat there, chewing another bite, he finally realised what was going around him. Without even swallowing the food in his mouth he burst out in surprise, "Wait... Wait! Did he just say... the king? Like in the king, king? The ruler of the land?" Finally things became clear as the day, Bjork was wide awake, staring at the others around the table. The leader as well. Untill he looked down in an even more confused expression, "Wait... Wait! Where is my shirt?! Is this some joke?! Did you steal it?!" No, Bjork hadn't exactly figured out how someone was supposed to be able to steal clothes from his body without him noticing it. He assumed it was the case because he couldn't remember leaving his tent without it - he couldn't remember leaving his tent at all that morning.

Rose and Ragnar slowly broke into a laugh at Bjork's reaction as Na'ari quietly slipped away to clean himself for the King's arrival. Who would swipe clothes from the gentle giant sleeping? It mattered not to Na'ari at that very moment.

---

It was about noontime and Na'ari was in his armor again, Draconil sheathed. His helmet was off and being held by his left hand as he waited with Ragnar and the others meet the King and the Regent Lord and the rest of the entourage. Na'ari was slightly nervous, as he was meeting the King and the also the Duke of his home region of Kerindar. Rose was in one of her armor, yet her hair was done and she had her makeup on.

To Na'ari this made her look like she was trying to look both tough and pretty to the King. Was she expecting to try to flirt with him? He silently rolled his eyes at his own assumption as he heard hoofbeats as some men riding next to an entourage of five horsemen came, blowing a small fanfare announcing the arrival.

"All Hail Regent Lord Darion, and King Markus of Kerindar, escorted by the Three Heroes of the Elite Army!" The Regent Lord and Two of the heroes dismounted as Ragnar approached the Regent Lord.

"Darion, you look like you grew some grey whiskers." Ragnar remarked as he embraced him. "Welcome old friend, Welcome!"

"You look like you've gotten fat Ragnar." The Duke of Valsir quipped back. "These two here are my sons, Sean and Varin. Capable warriors who've proven themselves. Of course you know my Nephew, the King. The Hero sitting on the horse still is Lady Lunaria of The Krean province. We expect this to be a pleasant visit and change from the routine to discuss things."

"More like keep Father's spies from here." Rosaria thought. She kept her mouth shut but worried slightly at the heroes' presence. Lunaria especially. If she wanted to try and court the King, she had to find a way to keep her occupied.

"It is an Honor and a privelege to meet you and your entourage, Great Duke. Valsir still owes your clan many debts of gratitude." Na'ari stated with a bow.

"Ah, a fellow Valsirian! Varin! We ain't alone out here!" Sean said to the brother at his side, who kept silent.

For the first time both Bjork and Lorelei experienced the same emotions at the exact same time, they were both nervous and extremely excited at the same time. Who wouldn't be? People prayed to be able to experience what they were doing at this moment, being able to see the king at this distance. Neither one of them knew if they even was allowed to talk with the man when Na'ari suddenly spoke up.

Lorelei frowned at the happening, thinking that the guy was crazy that did something like that. They were only there to protect him, not have some sort of small talk, but she could understand why he wanted to say those things. But Bjork stared at Na'ari with eyes as big as plates, admiring him, he looked like he had just met his one true hero. As if he was the bravest man alive for daring to do such a thing. And it gave Bjork the bravery to open his mouth t say something as well.

But just as he was going to say something he got a hard punch in the side from Lorelei, she had seen what was coming and had no intention to let him speak. She knew he would make them all look like fools. She didn't want to look like a fool in front of the king or his men. So Bjork’s intendent speech turned into a cough and a disappointed glance towards Lorelei for telling him to shut up.

Rose glared at Bjork for nearly saying anything as suddenly Mark dismounted along with the other heroes, save for Lady Lunaria. Meantime the Duke acknowledged Na'ari's greeting with only a nod and wave of his hand. Na'ari gave the same nod of appreciation as he rejoined the others.

"So you're the security detail then? I'm Markus, King of Kerindar. And you are young lady?"

"I-I'm Rose, your grace." she managed to say, as all of a sudden the king kissed her hand. She flushed red in shock and surprised as Sean whistled. Varin stayed the way he was, silent as a rock. Na'ari gave a small chuckle as Rose lightly slapped his head. "Sorry Rose I could not resist! You looked so cute for a moment. Wouldn't you agree Bjork?" He asked, still holding his smile when he felt eyes boring into him as Lady Lunaria seemed to either be giving him the evil eye, or gauging him in her own judgement.

Na'ari went straight faced as he cleared his throat. "Let's uh, give the king a tour whilst Ragnar and the Regent Lord talk fellas how about it?" he felt like he wanted to get away from this woman, and soon if need be.
