Lucius Blackstone

What, you think unicorns aren't evil? Wait til you see where the horn goes.

a character in “The Fantasy Wars”, as played by Thundergod1020

Description

As a human:
Image
Image
Name: Lucius Angelo Blackstone
Age: 1594
Gender: Male
Species Unicorn
Sexual Orientation: Straight, of course. Not like unicorns breed on good wishes and four-leaf clovers, after all. Then again, tell that to the people who wonder why unicorns are so rare these days... They'll piece the puzzle together.
Relationship status: I currently possess a harem, as male unicorns are hard to come by, and rarely of the straight orientation, and therefore the few of us who AREN'T coltcuddlers are left to spread our genetics as much as possible. The fact that unicorns are considered "hot" thanks to some new storyteller going around talking about pony unicorns(but everything she says is a bloody lie, we only use our horse form when going cross-country, we'd never sacrifice our precious thumbs for anything else).
Hair: Black, as seen in my last painting, seen above.
Eyes: Prismatic
Height: 6'
Weight: 150lb
Clothing Style: Hey, what you see is what you get, Sweetcheeks.
Distinct Markings: Other than the fact my eyes look like freaking DIAMONDS, I have a scar in the shape of a cross under my left eye, which is one of the reasons I'm blind. Another thing of note is that I have twin scars on the tops of my wrists. These are where my horns come out in human form. What, you thought I'd be defenseless?
History: Alright, I'll give you the short and sweet version, since the only thing that really matters is my actions taken in the future. I'm a unicorn. Yeah, that's right. Sadly for you, I'm not the type to prance around and sit by maidens... Well, that depends on how big their rack is. No, I'm the kind of unicorn that gets immortalized as a robot running through the depths of hell with heavy metal in the background. I was born to a loving dame named Risten, she raised me well. Then she got killed off by the bad guy, like in every unoriginal origin story, and I got stuck in the ever-needed revenge plot. Only difference is, I knew it was the basic hero story. That's why I took a new path. After I killed the guy who did it, I took his place in the ranks of the Army, and he wasn't exactly the last guy in my revenge story because he was a slouch.
Basic combat skill/style: As a being of magical nature, I'm already gifted with incredible strength, stamina, and durability. These are accentuated by my boneblades, which I can basically explain best to Offworlders like you as Baraka's blades. I specialize in moving around my opponent and poking at their weaknesses, forcing them into either going defensive, where I can use my coup de grace Death of One Thousand Blades, or to die from blood loss. On undead opponents, I just use my inherent holy magic that comes with being a unicorn. In horse form, I try to trample my foes underhoof(goring gets blood in the eyes.), or use hellfire. Of course, I'm much more inclined to just slip in and stab you while you're asleep...

So begins...

Guin leaned her hands against the balcony, stretching her back to push her stomach against the cold marble as she smelled the wind. It blew past her face with a melodic sound, and smelled like burning roses in the Ashen Wastes. At that, she leaned back, putting the whole of her foot on the ground and turning towards the interior of her father's castle. She pulled at the rug-robe mixture that was hanging on her shoulders, patterned in a Tiager-style of roaming circles, and frowned.

I have a conference at some point this afternoon. And the chances of anything coming out of that are quite slim. Let's be honest, who wants to be in Mysteria at this point? There's no use... "I don't think we can actually win this war." She looked around her sheepishly, not meaning to have said that out loud, and hurried inside the castle. Warmth spread over her with the light of several candles, and Guin started to pick her way through the winding halls.

The two were quite rudely interrupted as Lucius appeared in a puff of hellfire, along with the smell of brimstone and smoke, rearing up with a whinny that made the walls themselves shiver, and as he came down, reformed into his human shape with a small box wrapped with a ribbon, spreading his arms wide in goodwill.

"HAPPY TIDINGS TO ALL!" he shouted with a smile on his face, then handed Gwen the box, shaking her other hand as he did so and hugging Shadow after, without hesitation. "Can you believe that 1000 years ago TO THE DAY I married my first wife? OH, what a day that was, I can still hear the wedding bells-" he took a moment to disappear and reappear next to Gwen, leaning on her shoulder, "No, really, I have an enchanted music box with the sounds of that day, ask me about it sometime.", and puffed back over to Shadow, frowning at his choice of sleeve design(He'd been the fabulous one first, dammit!). "But away from my digressions, unicorn tradition and all state that I'm to give gifts to my enemies on this day, at least the ones still alive, and ask for a meal together as a form of peacemaking, if only for a day. Do you accept? I'd hardly hold it against you if you declined!"

There had been absolutely no changes in tone to his voice that would have placed it as a trick, he really DID want to be peaceful, at least for now. He also had his sleeves rolled up and metal bracers on his arms, so as to remove any thought of a weapon being used that day. He was there to be kind, and hoped that they would respond the same.

"Dark dragons are one of the only dragons that are solitary creatures...we are left on our own when we are born..." Guin hid a frown, hoping it wasn't as evident as she could, though she knew it would most likely be of no use; he could sense her emotions, could he not? So why would Shadow care as much as if she had hid it, or if she had not? She tried to ignore that, and listened closely again.

"Though maybe...dark dragons such as I are not meant to exist. We come from darkness, and nothing else..."

"I feel as though many of us were not meant to exist," she sighed in response. "Though, we would never know the difference, would we?" She curtseyed deeply to Shadow as he opened the door. "Thank you. I believe it will be nice to once more forget about-"

Guin felt her skin shiver softly against a bray behind her, and turned around slowly, casting a sideways glance to Shadow. As if he would know what was going on. She bit her lip impatiently when she saw that her 'good friend' Lucius arrived. And was holding a small gift, it appeared. She held it lightly as it was pushed towards her, slowly leaning closer to sniff at it, wondering what could possibly be inside that would make her want to open it.

"But away from my digressions, unicorn tradition and all state that I'm to give gifts to my enemies on this day, at least the ones still alive, and ask for a meal together as a form of peacemaking, if only for a day."

"I..." She looked back at Shadow, shrugging her shoulders softly. "I'll leave this one up to you, really. I don't think I mind too much whether he joins us or not... And he doesn't look like he'll eat our faces off at any given moment." Guin pondered for a moment, then added, "Though we'll probably have to clear the hall of any soldiers. I don't think they would take too kindly."

Lucius scoffed at her mentioning of the consuming of faces, and put a hand to his heart, looking hurt.

"My dear Gwen, just because I am Dark does not instantly mean I am EVIL! Face eating is in no way my style, and besides, I'm mostly vegetarian." He then put two fingers to his temple, took a deep breath, and in a second, was acting jovial again. "Ah, but I forgot to mention my gift! It is nothing of great importance one way or another, merely a sapling I have been growing since my 500th anniversary. In another 1000 years, it shall grow into a beautiful fairy-apple tree... Most of the time, it's a joke towards our enemies, meant to point out that we can simply outlive them, but I sincerely wish for you to be able to taste the fruits of its labor, given time. You are much too beautiful to die at such a young age, and I only wish your end to be either due to old age or at my hands or the Generals, weapon in hand, so that you have a worthy death unlike your father. I don't care what anyone says, an arrow has got to be the worst way to go..." Lucius drifted off, becoming slightly wistful, "Not even getting a chance to see your killer..." he quickly shook his head and clapped his hands to shake himself from that area of thought. "BUT AGAIN, I hope for today we can be civil. I'll be waiting in the dining hall, and only render anyone who tries to harm me unconscious." With that, he walked immediately towards the dining hall, showing his awareness of the castle's layout, despite being blind. Which, of course, pointed out(intentionally in his case) the fact that he had A)gotten past their defenses by simply teleporting in, and B)had been in the castle enough times to know its layout by heart. He felt they could make their theories from there.

"In another 1000 years, it shall grow into a beautiful fairy-apple tree..." Guin's breath caught in her throat. She was purely surprised, and gently pulled the ribbon off, laying it on the palm of her hand beneath the box. I... I can't believe this... She stared with wonder at the tree, smiling at how beautiful it was, and wondering how she was to accept this from him. It can't be every day you get tossed a tree by a unicorn. At least, not one she barely trusted.

"You are much too beautiful to die at such a young age, and I only wish your end to be either due to old age or at my hands or the Generals, weapon in hand, so that you have a worthy death unlike your father." She began to wiggle her toes - an old trick her nurse taught her - with hopes that she could keep a straight face, or at least avoid looking like a frost-apple in the middle of summer. Guin carefully closed the box, tying the ribbon over the top, and held it with both of her hands.

"I'll be waiting in the dining hall, and only render anyone who tries to harm me unconscious."

She watched him carefully as he walked away, and turned to the dragon besides her. "Shadow... I think it might be time for a new castle."

"I RECOMMEND A CASTLE ON THE TIAGER PENINSULA, THEY TEND TO BE MORE SECLUDED!" Lucius shouted from the dining hall, leaning back in his chair. He did so love being blind, it made the other senses so much sharper.

"I RECOMMEND A CASTLE ON THE TIAGER PENINSULA, THEY TEND TO BE MORE SECLUDED!"

Guin spun on her heels in a flurry of frustration, feeling her skirt slide around her legs. The soft silk felt breezy in the wind, calming her frustration for a moment.

"No one asked the bloody blind unicorn!!" she screeched, arching her heels in frustration. "Otherwise, your flaming name would have been attached to it!"

She lowered herself with a snarl, tossing her skirts about with a momentary thought of dropping the box.

The dragon stiffened, ashe felt arms around him in a hug. His first response was to punch the unicorn, but he instead paused to listen as he spoke. Something about his anniversary?...What the heck was he talking about...He didn't sense a hostile intent...so it was okay...right? He looked at Guin, as she questioned him. he hesitated, before then saying "He isn't lying...Unicorns actually have a tradition such as this...." Trailing off, he took another look at the man, then back at Guin. "Perhaps we should just humor him I suppose..." He said, offering a smile, though it was forced.

He chuckled a bit at the girl's comment, then at the unicorn's loud comment. He liftedhis hands, and shadows wrapped around it. he quickly wrote out "It appears that he would be able to hear if we discussed this now...perhaps we should talk later about this." The words formed by shadows disappeared, as Shadow gave her another smile. "Well...I suppose we should go eat now..." With that, he walked into the dining hall and sat across the man. He didn't want her to lose her temper and lash out...he didn't seem hostile so it should be fine.

"...perhaps we should talk later about this."

"I can only agree."

Guin followed Shadow solemnly. She wondered softly about what they would possibly discuss... Certainly not the weather, she hoped. There was more to be found out than who had rainbows and where.

She sniffed softly as she crossed into the dining hall, not bothering to sort out the scents, as she also followed Shadow and sat across from Lucius. "I do hope you have something of...use to discuss."

Her eyes idly wandered over the room, from the tapestries to the soldiers, and avoided straight ahead as much as possible.

Shadow was watching the man very intently, studying him. He had some guts if he just waltz in here, gave the general a mystery box, then hug him. It was one of the most straight forward thing anyone has done to him...not to mention strange. He clearly held no fear of being here or else he probably wouldn't have come. Wait...how the hell did he even find this place? Shadow frowned slightly, at the thought of the enemy knowing where the castle was. Deep in thought, he didn't notice the shadows creeping up around his fists.
"I suppose...I could always teleport the castle somewhere else...though then it might be strange..." He thought to himself. Shadow stood up suddenly, an annoyed look crossing his face briefly and offered a slightly forced smile towards the man. "What would you like to eat? I'll get it for you." He looked at Guin, then spelled out with darkness. "Need to talk, shall we get food so I can finish this up?" As he said "Guin, shall we go get food? We were both here for that reason of course."

Guin was gently picking at a loose thread in her skirt when she spotted the shadowed letters. She continued to pull at the thread as her eyes wandered to see what he was telling her.

"Guin, shall we go get food? We were both here for that reason of course."

"I agree... Lest we forget our purpose, lest we forget our rights." She smiled brightly, brushing off her skirts, and wandered across the dining hall toward look for food. She did not wait for Shadow, for she knew he would come in his own time.

As she passed by a group of soldiers, one extended his arm to her with a cup of ale at his hand. She took it, tossing her head back and downing it in one gulp, smacking her lips contentedly. "That one... That one's good. Though, I apologise, I must be elsewhere - duty is a mountain, and my mountain calls." She shrugged as she spoke the words. An old saying my dad would skin me for forgetting.

Her robe was still light, and she questioned whether it was truly necessary to dig an old, formal robe out of a closet for the meeting today. She would, regardless of her thoughts, for it was more suited to the situation.

Lucius felt a small burst of glee at Gwen's outburst(Hey, he's still her enemy), and then the two others sat down, with Gwen across from him. He could feel her eyes never settling on him, but when she prodded him for information, he waited until they returned from getting their meal, then made sure his own gaze didn't disappoint. His eyes appeared to pierce right through her, even past both blindfold and blindness. This time when he spoke, however, there was nothing but ice in his voice, the poison of a viper ready to strike.

"Gwen, if you DARE think I would put tradition before ANY of my families, blood or no, then you are sadly mistaken. As for your belief that I had only come here to talk about the weather, while any form of small talk would have done, we can fit our evening around that if you wish. But for both our sakes, I recommend you not bring the war into this meal. If the HUMANS were able to put aside their differences for an entire day in one of their wars, we should be more than capable, no?"

He hadn't read her mind, no, telepathy wasn't one of his powers. He knew that he would be met with apprehension upon his arrival, after all, no one SANE would tend to appear out of thin air and hug their enemy. They weren't unicorns, so he didn't expect them to understand the delicacies of the act. Therefore, they would spend their entire meal freaking out over whether he WOULD strike or if he WOULDN'T, with the obvious answer(a nice, peaceful meal, like he asked for) being too ludicrous for them to comprehend. And THAT, my friends, is where Lucius had his fun, not on the bow-and-blade battlefield, but the one where he knew he reigned supreme. He could have had his dinner with pretty much any person he wanted, he had so many enemies. But no one else would give him the satisfaction of rage that Gwen could.

After a short while of flying the Angel finally made it to the cluster of trees lining the front of the castle. The castle looked impossibly taller now that she was up close to it. It didn't appear to have an end as it reached up to the night sky, almost as though it were attempting to reach up to the moon itself.
Lights could be seen inside the fortress, indicating people were wandering about inside it's walls, more than likely awake. "Hm, didn't think there were others awake at this hour." She noted to herself as she flew up into the branches of a fur tree, taking solace in it's concealing branches and soft bark. As she rested back against a narrow fork in a branch, being wary of looking down, she hid her wings once again. With that out of the way the Angel rested her eyes, ready for a nice sleep after her day of venturing about the land. 'How long had things been this way?' She mused silently, remembering back to the last time she was walking about the world. She couldn't come up with a number. There was no sense of time in the afterlife.
The Angel merely shrugged to herself, not too worried with the thought of how long she was away but instead of the conditions the land was in. Suddenly the sounds of voices drifted into her thoughts, breaking her away. She opened her eyes again and flickered them up towards the castle, her advanced hearing picking up more on the conversation. It sounded...chaotic.
Curiosity piqued the Angel found herself quickly leaving her place of rest, spreading her wings about her once again. Sticking to the shadow's as she had before she flew up to one of the many castle windows and peeked inside. A beautiful blonde haired Elvin girl with a sad air about her could be seen standing among a group of soldiers along with someone else, but she couldn't see who else was there for the time being. "Hm, this is interesting." She whispered to herself. What could possibly be going on?

Guin felt her lip snarling in frustration for a moment, and forced it back down, replacing it with a smile.

"Child's play, my dear. I can avoid a war, so long as you can." Her voice was warm as oak honey, sliding through the air. "Now, if you don't mind, I will leave this...small talk for you to start." She tugged at her braid softly, poking at her food with the realisation she was no longer hungry.

"Unless, of course, you have something else to say."

Her ears picked up a soft trail of singing from the corner, an afternoon's blissful, drunken melody.

"Hear me prelate most discreet
For indulgence crying!
Deadly sin I find so sweet,
I'm in love with dying!
Every pretty girl I meet
Sets my heart a-sighing;
Hands off!
Ah, but in conceit
In her arms I'm lying!"

She knew the words, and hid a grin.

Her unspoken rage only fueled his elation, although he hid it behind his mask of indifference.
"Yes, two things, as a matter of fact, one, funny the song written about me in my 482nd year has gotten around to your people, and two, correct me if I'm wrong, but the window seems to have been occupied by an angel who's taken a shine to it. Allow me."
With that, he stood up and walked over to where the angel was, exhuding an aura of kindness, peace, and goodwill, opened the window, and then snatched the angel by her arms and brought her in. Joys of being a unicorn, no one ever suspects you to be evil within the first five minutes of meeting you unless proven otherwise, your inherent holy magic throws them off. He then placed her down and closed the window, taking off the blindfold to reveal his shimmering eyes. They'd probably do nothing, but at least their sparkliness would keep her distracted.
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" he asked gently, aiming to keep her off guard so that this new angel wouldn't try to smite him immediately.

Guin smiled with amusement. As much as she did not want to admit it, this would be amusing, no doubt. "Let it begin... I am interested to see who would dare eavesdrop."

"Who are you, and what are you doing here?"

"She doesn't look familiar... I don't think I've quite seen this one before. Forgive me if I have, my dear, and you have slipped my mind."

The Angel's eyes widened as a Unicorn came to the window and opened it before swiftly pulling her out. "Uhm.." She uttered brilliantly, unable to help but gape at the sight of the creature. She's never seen a Unicorn before, so it was something else to meet a Unicorn with a blindfold.
"A better question would be, who are you and what you doing here?" She countered quietly before she locked her gaze with his. His eyes looked nice she had to admit, but all the same the Angel found herself taking a precautionary step back. He was too bright and peaceful.. the only other being she's met of being like this were Angel's such as herself. Were all Unicorns like this?
Her attention was focused then as others began to question her and she fought against the urge to shrink back against their stares. "I- My name is Alice." She introduced herself quietly. "I'm terribly sorry I listened in but I couldn't help myself. It all sounded so interesting, the odd things you were all speaking of." She admitted, casting her gaze to the ground in abashment.

"I- My name is Alice. I'm terribly sorry I listened in but I couldn't help myself. It all sounds so abashing, the odd things you were all speaking of."

Guin narrowed her eyes slightly, pulling one leg over the other in a swift motion that would allow her to pick at another loose thread. "What will you do with her, Lucius?" she asked. This was certainly not her place to say anything, for she was not the one to catch the eavesdropper. And, as much as they could abide by the rules tonight, they would. Perhaps the rules of spies did not count as much here, but she had no say as to what side Alice was playing for. If she even had a side.

((OOC note:
[Sorry, doesn't belong here, but has to be done. I just realised Alice wasn't actually added to the ranks... I kinda put here there. Sooo maybe we recruit her? :o]))

Shadow stood up, and got his food. Mostly meat cooked rare and some mead to let him drink. Alcohol was one of the greatest things that he's seen created, though he never quite understood the concept of getting drunk. He walked back and sat down by Guin once again, before hearing the song. he listened quietly, singing along in his head until he saw the Unicorn get up from his seat.

He watched in slight amusement as he grabbed a girl-from her aura she was an angel. He watched as the girl was harshly yanked into the room and questoned by the unicorn. With a sigh, he turned back to his meat and began to eat. They really needed to relocate the castle if some random girl can just come inside. With a sigh, Shadow watched the scene unfold more.

Lucius' response was, again, calm and befitting of a man who'd spent centuries dealing with any kind of threat.

"Why, I'd say a good feather clip would do it for punishment, nothing permanent, just enough to keep you grounded for a day or three. We could have been talking about things that could endanger all of the world if they got out, and while that isn't the case, I feel it wouldn't be fair to everyone involved if I let you off with just a warning. It would show that ANYONE could just waltz into a meeting and eavesdrop." As he created a small blade of blue fire in his fingers, he tried to reassure her. "Don't worry, it's painless and given what I know of angels, should be back to normal within a couple days. By that time, however, I'll have returned to my homeland, and anything you WOULD be able to tell anyone will be irrelevant."
