He burst into blue flames, a cyclone of pure magic. The power was intoxicating, threatening to explode. Everything went quiet, and his eyes zoomed in the princess. With incredible speed, even for a demon, he flew across the bridge and yanked up the fraying rope. As the princess flew up, he caught her and raced back across the bridge, just as it crumbled down into the chasm. He set Sayuri down and asked anxiously, worry clear on his face, not bothering to hide his emotions. "Sayuri, are you alright? Please be okay..." He was oblivious to the sound of guards on the other side of the cliff.
Sayuri felt her mind starting to become fuzzy, letting out a few small cries as she felt the rope was about to snap. This is it, this is where it all ends, huh? So soon even, and she was just starting to have fun. Just then, she heard Draemon's voice.
"SAYURI!!!"
The elf honestly thought she was dead as everything went silent, but then she felt herself in the air, and then in Draemon's arms. It all happened so fast, she could barely comprehend what just happened. As she was set down, she heard the demon's voice, but very faintly. Sayuri felt her eyes dropping, but managed to place a hand on Draemon's cheek and nod. Afterwards, her hand dropped down to her side and she passed out from fear.
Not long after Sayuri passed out, there were arrows and spheres being thrown from the other side of the cliff.
"Leave.her.ALONE!!!!"
He swung his sword and a shortwave of magic through the weapons back and they targeted themselves at their masters. Most of the men didn't survive, but the few who remained fell back and fled. Draemon sheathed his sword and walked over to Sayuri, he gently picked her up, a protective frown set on his face. And he continued their walk.
About two hours afterwards, Sayuri started to stir. "Nmm..." She flickered her eyes open. The elf gasped, looking around her. She was no longer on the bridge, but back in the forest. She looked up at Draemon, blushing a little. Has he carried her this whole time? Was it all just a horrible nightmare?
"W... What just.... happened...?" Sayuri asked, avoiding eye contact.
Draemon looked down and Sayuri was just waking up, a slight blush on her cheeks. He visibly relaxed, his eyes softening.
"You passed out, princess. Don't worry, you're gonna be alright now. For now. You almost fell off the bridge. I..... caught you, and got you to safety."
He continued to walk, and stopped when they came into a small clearing. He gently laid Sayuri down and took out a cloak and wrapped her up in it. He then cooked some rabbit, lightly seasoned, over a fire built and put it on a stone plate with a large chunk of bread and a canteen of water. He walked over to Sayuri, kneeling beside her and handed her the plate. "You need to eat, passing out took some of your strength."
As Draemon explained that what she thought was a nightmare actually happened, she felt her heart drop. In the back of her mind she knew that it wasn't a dream, but she still denied it. "Yeah... for now... isn't that comforting..." She mumbled in a sarcastic tone.
As Draemon set Sayuri down, she didn't really move. She was still a little stunned by the event that happened a little while ago. After waiting for the demon to finish cooking up lunch, the princess lost it. Sayuri started to sob. "I-It was horrible!! The guards a-a-and the bridge, it was... s-such a... really...!! He could barely understand the elf through her tears.
"I-it was horrible!! The guards a-a-and the bridge, it was... s-such a... really...!!"
He didn't know what to do. He felt a pain in his chest, and realized it wasn't physical. He hesitated, then resigned himself and wrapped his arms around her, patting her hair gently.
"Hey now, hey... It's alright...It's over...," He spoke in soothing tones.
Sayuri tried to wipe her tears away, but they were replaced with new ones. "I-I have a p-p-phobia of heights... th-that was the most... the most...!!" She gave up trying to explain herself and wrapped her arms around Draemon. Sayuri burred her face into his shoulder and cried.
And cried...
And cried some more...
Then a little more...
It took about 15 minutes for the girl to calm down, now she was only sniffling. She pushed Draemon away and tried to regain herself. "I-I'm okay... I'm fine..."
