Introduction
The end of the world is closing in, and your kind has called it upon itself. You humans have nearly destroyed our creation. We should wipe your race from the face of the earth for this atrocity, however, we are not unreasonable, so you foolish mortals will be given one last chance to show your species is worthy of living on.
We will not fight this battle for you, not this time. Redeem yourselves. We will grant you the power for this task, strengthen your puny bodies, and even give you skills you could only dream off, but keep one thing in mind, everything comes at a price.
You will fight, against your own creations in this ruined world. Gather your comrades and face the monsters created in the laboratories your governments always denied, the daemons born from the dark crevices of your very souls, and the ancient evils, once again released by the foolishness of man.
Do not look back, for your days of peace are gone.
The star system, High God and his wife and children
The Oberan humans were proud inhabitants of the planet Oberos, second planet from the star that was named Bastilon.
Bastilon is also the name of the High God of the world. He is the God of Light, married to Ceteria, his female counterpart when it comes to the Domain of Light. Where the ever-present Light of Bastilon might seem as harsh and unforgiving as the sun that is named after him, she is the more subtle light, where there would be none to be found otherwise. (Ceteria is also an old word for the collective of stars and three moons dotting the night sky)
Bastilon secondarily role is the Judge of All Life, whereas Ceteria is more of an Advocate, her secondarily domain being Forgiveness.
They have numerous children, although I will only name a few of them.
The first four, represent the four of the five main elements.
Endora is the Goddess of Wind and Wisdom
Kaiser is the God of Earth and Fortitude
NamaΓ« is the Goddess of Water and the Cycle of Life and Death
Estrel is the God of Fire and Passion/Fertility
Collectively these four are known as the Kalur, with Kalur being the fifth element, roughly translating into Ether.
There are nine more children, but the last to be named for now is the youngest. Alistair. God of Darkness and War.
3 continents, 3 races and 2.5 extinctions.
There are only three continents in the world, all of them rather small, although there are many archipelagos of islands. This is because due to the proximity to their star the world has no polar caps, and the water level is therefore rather high, covering much of otherwise suitable land. Ice was only discovered when someone was experimenting with magic, and nobody has even dreamt of the existence of Snow.
There were a total of three races in the past (Humans, Elves and Demons).
Demons were seen as the children of Alistair. Their association with the God, who had grown into the First Evil of the world, caused them to be hunted to extinction, mainly by the Elves.
Most of the hunting was done by the Elves, who took many casualties in the progress. With their population already being small, and their fertility rate low, they didn't have sustainable numbers anymore. The at the time Imperialistic species decided to go out in a blaze of glory, and intensified their hunt of the Demons. The few non-combatants that were left at the end of the war mingled with the human populace, until no distinct Elvish race remained.
Humans, the only species left, thrived for a while, in what was known as the Gold Millennium. (Despite it being closer to 1400 years). Having grown overconfident, they kept pushing the boundaries of what they knew. At first to great success, but it later became their downfall.
Elven Magicks, Dark Magic and the Arcane Arts
Magic formerly wasn't accessible by humans. Magical ability belonged solely to the two 'higher' races, who looked down upon humanity. The Elves had won the right to magic millenia before humans even came into existence and the demons had their Dark Magic gifted to them by Alistair.
Elven magic were various magicks that worked through invoking the Gods.
Likewise, Dark Magic could be seen as a magic system of it's own with many branches. It works by drawing in ambient mana to be processed by 'a magical core'. Their is nothing truly dark about the magic itself, aside from the God that gifted it to his children.
Both of these systems allowed the wielders to battle without feeling magical exhaustion, although there could be debilitating consequences if too much was channeled for too long or they were unfamiliar with the magic they were trying to achieve. (AKA, spells above their skill level)
The Human Arcane Arts also rely on a core, but instead of drawing in ambient mana it produces a small amount of magic on it's own, and stores this. The repeated emptying of a core allows for it refill faster and a faster growing storage. Emptying one's core has no negative consequences, aside from slight lethargy and not being able to use magic for a while.
Human Culture
Despite the diverging history, human culture used to pretty similar to ours, although they were ahead of us when it came to science. The fact that the occasional bored God decided to explain a few things to stuck scientists helped with that. Especially Endora is guilty of this.
For the most most part the Gods have retreated from the world though, with the death of their favored race, the elves.
Not that you'd really notice this advancement in day to day life though, as most technology was held back by the mostly totalitarian governments fearing an uprising.
Then came the day the world simply broke, and the Gods decided enough was enough. Most of humanity died in that dark period, leaving their total at roughly 80,000,000 in various fortified settlements spread over the three continents.
Science has advanced even further, especially with the new possibilities magic brought. Nevertheless, going outside of the walls is still a fatal incident waiting to happen.

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Species:
- Elder Demons: These were some of the first creations of Alistair. Aside from their creator, they are not linked to the extinct demon race. The Elder Demons were abandoned for being too strong to Alistair's liking. A small, rebellious group of them nearly managed to bring him to his knees.
- Daemons: Again, not linked to the extinct demon race. These are entities born from the darkness in souls, essentially shadows. Being spiritual entities, they are impervious to traditional means of combat. They range in shape and forms, and tend to even shift. Some are even lingering remnants of the extinct races.
- Humans: Self-explanatory.
- Beastkin: Self-explanatory as well, these tend to range closely in the realm of beastly, with claws and teeth, and the cunning of man. They are a younger race, born of nature from the void left behind by the elves.
- Experiments: This is a very broad category. These range from mutated/augmented humans, to chimeras. Magical and/or technological in nature.
- Titanisians: Again, a broad concept. None of them are humanoid though and they fall firmly within the categories of predator or prey. They are other-worlders, hailing from Titanis. As the title implies, they are beings of great size and strength.

Apparently their best bet would be to catch an airship, had it not been for the fact that tickets for those were very expensive. Thawulunnor, had little of value on him, much like his companion. They made a rather sorry duo, one was one of the last remnants of a long thought extinct race, and a young woman who had been experimented on by her own people.
He sighed, casting a glance at the girl that had broken the seal imprisoning him.
(Thawulunnor was aware she was an adult of her race, don't misunderstand, but when compared to elven lifespan she was so very, very young...)
At first glance he had mistaken her for an elf herself, humans being pretty much unknown at the time of his sealing. Her round ears had thrown him for a loop though. At first he thought it was a mutation of kinds, but she had disabused him of that notion as soon as she found out about his mistaken assumption.
It had been two years, but he still couldn't wrap his mind around it. Elves had gone extinct, in an attempt to destroy the demon race. In their stead a race called humans had come to rule the world. Who had driven the Gods away through their avarice.
(Not that Thawulunnor had the right to point fingers when it came to greater sins)
The reason they were here on the beach, rather than in one of the empty houses in town was privacy. Mostly for Thawulunnor's sake. He wanted to be able to take off his hood once in a while without being gawked at.
He remained silent for a bit longer,
"Any idea on how to make enough money?"
βAny idea on how to make enough money.β Thawulunnor said, breaking Madison out of the train of thought she was having, shaking her head back into reality and facing towards him. βI... uh.β She stuttered for a second before getting quiet again. She didnβt much of a thought on the matter, she thought back to her days in her town before being taken. βW-work maybe?β Madison said, βPeople lie for money too, steal even.β She wasnβt suggesting either of those but was thinking out loud. βOh, sorry.β Madison noticed herself rambling and stood up slowly and spun around, trying to get a sense of the surroundings again.
βThe humans- other humans I mean, do things for money, not so greatβ¦β Madison quickly turned her head towards Thawulunnor. βMagic, you have magic!β She shouted with an outburst, before covering her mouth. βCouldnβt you do something, and then I do something to get money.β She said as she paced back and forth, almost tripping over her own feet. βBut, it would beβ¦ be badβ¦ stealingβ¦β She trailed off and stopped pacing, almost as if staring into the ground. Madison wasnβt the greatest at talking, but she would hope that Thawulunnor would get her basic message, sometimes he did.
Madison always was kind hearted, always trying to do the right thing. Help others, work hard, and being humble. So why did that thought come into her mind, of stealing from others, she never would have done that in the past, or even think about it. βThawulunnor?β She asked, waiting to hear a response or opinion on what she just said, still with head down towards the ground.
"Work, swindling and stealing huh? Same old then. The world doesn't seem to have changed that much over the years after.", the mage replied dryly.
(Not that Thawulunnor was that much better. He had been rather eloquent once upon a time, but his skills as a wordsmith had become pretty rusty. pun not intended. It was rather frustrating to him, to not be able to concisely convey his thoughts at first try, like he once did.)
He fell silent again, staring at the ocean.
Eventally he continued, "I mostly meant, what kind of work is there to be done? Should we hunt for example? What would be better to hunt? Beings troubling the villagers? Common game? Bandits? Is hunting even done in this day and age?"
"Well", he amended, "It's done by us of course", by which he mostly meant him, "but does the general populace need the materials, or are they already being supplied them one way or another?"
He paused again, backtracking what he said in an attempt to sum it up,
"Basically, what kind of jobs can we expect in this day, age and culture?"
All things that he would have probably learned already, had they not stuck to the wilds for the most part. In part due to him being an elf, who had already grown rather fed up of the ruckus the discovery of his race caused after the first time they came across a human settlement, and in part because he was afraid her former captors still had people on the lookout for his traveling companion.
('Not friend', Thawulunnor kept lying to himself.)
With his wounds already healing, he sighed to himself bitterly.
"And it was such a wonderous dream," he mutters, putting a hand on his shoulder and rotating it. It was clear to him that in his time spent sealed away had atrophied his power some, and it was annoying. Lowering his hand he looks down into it with his burning eyes, focusing himself and his arcane magic, managing after a bit of effort to spark forth a phantasmic blue flame. "Well... it's a start."
Pushing back from the tree, and wiping his hands against the moss, the Elder Demon trudged onwards. An odd feeling occurred to him while looking around at the surroundings. With a a raised brow, he noted that it all felt... emptier than he remembered. "What has transpired in my absence?" he murmurs, a smirk cracking across his face. "I like it... sort of... wonder if any of the others have been released as we-"
He abruptly stops, an odd sensation of being watched came over him. Glancing back, he saw nothing, however, and after a moment, he grunts and continued on.
"Abraxas, I'm sorry to disturb you, but we have a problem." I open my annoyed eyes, and look at Div, one of the elder demons I found many years ago. "Our scouting party for our brethren you sensed had their seals broken is missing. They should be back by now."
I take a deep breath and sigh, "It has almost been a month, perhaps it is time for me to go and see what's going on."
I stand up from the ground and dust off my robes and grasp my staff from the ground. I flick off a spider that had been steadily making it's way up my animal-hide outfit. I walk through the few streets of our small settlement to my single-room cabin and grab a bag to put some food and water for the journey. I sling it over my shoulder as I walk out and close the door behind me.
"Heading out I see?" My across the street neighbour, Rofocale, spoke out. Rofocale is always in his demonic state, he never really got the point of espionage and blending in.
"Just the chores required by leadership. I'm supposed to be an example of a model citizen and all." I smirk at him.
I walk out to a path outside our settlement, the same one I sent the scouting party on weeks prior. I turn to do a final wave goodbye to the community, and a small party of six see me off into the thick of the forest, outside of the artificial clearing for our settlement.
"Here there be monsters."
He had certainly never seen anything quite like the feathered man, or indeed been sentient for more than a few
hours. Slowly peeking around the trunk of the tree, he noticed the man was moving on. He pursued him, for no
real good reason otherr than curiosity. Thorn was silent on his feet, darting from tree to tree, watching the strange
man. Finally, out of sheer boredom, since he was no longer doing anything interesting like making blue flames
appear, Thorn got a devilish idea.
Picking up a nearby rock, he hurled it as hard as he could at the back of Editus's head, thinking to himself
how great it was going to be watching the man try to figure out how a rock could fall from a tree and hit him
right on the head. Thorn could barely contain his laughter as the rock soared towards the back of his head.
Madison always saw herself going to be a nurse of some sort, to actually help people. Even seeked out jobs in the government because she knew they pay alright and would help out their own people, but after, Madison couldnβt trust people besides her elven friend. βOh!β She quickly sat up. βThere were people who would pay for knowledge of olden times, of times with the gods. Information about Demons, Elves, Gods like Alistair!β Madison said with a smile on her face. She knew her current companion was from then, but didnβt know much, as he didnβt talk about it and Madison didnβt want to ask and be annoying to the only person who really tolerated her.
βBut, besides that. Just normal things I guess. People who cook, jobs for cleaning, looking after other people, or even taking a box from one place to another. Was there different jobs that the elves did?β She asked looking in Thawulunnorβs direction.
Thunk!
A pain suddenly comes to the back of his skull, slight as it was, it was enough to be annoying! He spun around with a hiss, his hair standing on ends like a feral cat, teeth baring, eyes aglow, hands held out like claws ready to strike, looking down at a stone that had bounced off his noggin and landed in the grass. Taking in a sharp deep breath, blowing out a plume of bluish fire, he brushed his hair back and regained his composure.
"Oh damn it all, even the earth itself rises up to strike me!" he yells, twirling his hands in the air, stopping as he heard something, a small cackle behind a tree no less. His brow furrowed and eyes narrowed as he snapped his head around. With a sudden burst of speed, he darted around the tree like streak, grabbing onto the base of the trunk and clung to it, peering around behind it. "I'm sure, however, the earth had some motivation from..!" his voice became deeper, his tone colder, but then he stopped, staring at the thing that has made light of him. With raised brow he grunts stepping down off from the tree and leaning over the fox creature. "What... is... this?"
His body stiffened and first thought was: 'Had she known who I was after all?'.
(No, actually, his first thought had been 'kill', but he suppressed that urge. Hence the stiffening.)
Thawulunnor might have been saner than he used to be, but he still hadn't come anywhere near to being the paragon of virtue Calion had been once upon a time. His time as Thawulunnor had ingrained instincts in him, he'd rather have left behind with his insanity. But alas, that was not to be.
(He knew it was unhealthy to think of himself and his past as belonging to two distinct people -namely his existence Before and After Alistair was through with him- but it was a way of coping.)
His third thought was a wry, "Well... Reason acquired..."
"Oh?", he prompted her, the 'Why Alistair of all Gods?' being heavily implied but going unsaid.
Madison continued talking though, most likely not having heard him.
He sighed at her last question, although he remained tense.
"No. Not really."
Well, there were a few of course, but those had been so ingrained into Elven Society that Thawulunnor assumed they would be around in Human Society too. He likewise assumed that they were simply too basic for Madison to mention.
The feathered mans sour expression said that an answer was needed, and demanded. Thorn looked around, his tail tucking in between his legs. He gave a small smile, eyes dialating as he made a few stuttering sounds, trying to point around him to a nearby bird or branch, finding nothing that could take the blame for him.
"Well um... I am... Heh.." He stammered a bit more as he began to lean down. "I am the master of the forest, and I uh... Speak for the trees! Yes... that sounds about right." Thorn wasn't quite sure whether he said the last part aloud or not. "Yes! For... they have no tongues..." He continued, scooping up a pawful of dirt.
"And that is plain to...." He threw the dirt up in Editus's face. "SEE!" he said with a cackle, immediately trying to escape down the path as he was hopefully incapacitated.
I am shocked when I run through a patch of tall grass only to be greeted with a smoldering, black circle. It looks like some fire of some sort created a perfect circle before being put out instantly. I sniff around before transforming back into my human self for a better look. I poke around with my staff, trying to dig beneath the black, charcoal-like substance. I sense it before I see it: someone is peeking at me through the tall grass to my right. When I make eye contact they immediately run away. I transform into a dire wolf again with great haste as I set out into a blinding run, following the scent left behind by the perpetrator. My form swiftly outruns the man as I tackle him to the ground, I transform my wolf face into a human one so that I can talk.
"Who are you?"
The man has no notable features, except for an expression of fear. He is exceedingly homely, his eyes and hair are a dark brown and his skin is tanned. His eyes are wide in fear at the horrifying sight that I must propose. He wears clothing made of animal hide with a knife strapped to the bottom of his left leg.
"Who are you?" I claw at him with one of my paws.
"Ah!" He screams out in pain, "Please, no, stop. My name is Matthias Dawidz and I am a hermit from these parts, please let me go!"
"What do you know about the black circle?"
"Nothing, nothing at all. I found it shortly before you did, I thought you caused it."
"Stop lying to me!" I claw at him again with one of my paws and he screams again in pain. "I can see into your mind! Now tell me the truth!"
He looks at me with a mixture of fear and disbelief before he audibly sighs and a look of resignation appears on his face. "Okay, okay, it was me. I am a hermit in these parts because I killed the rest of my tribe. I used to live in a collection of criminals who had escaped from the cities to live here. They wanted to live a new life where there weren't rules, where they could make their own rules. It actually worked very well, we had a functioning society. But then, I met a shadow man who lived in my hut, his name was Azelaz. He hurt people for me, he protected me, and he gave me an enchanted dagger that could do magic. All that he asked for that final gift was the lives of my tribesmen. So, I killed them all and gave them to Azelaz as a sacrifice."
Then it felt as if someone was grabbing my heart and squishing it from within my chest. I transformed into my human self and used the power of my enchanted staff to heal my self, it was enough to ward off whatever dark magic had attacked me. Then, Matthias got himself above the ground and grabbed his dagger all in one fluid motion.
"What are you?" Matthias asked, "I've never seen anything like you. Are you a wolf or a man?"
"Neither, I am a Demon Lord, a king among elder demons."
"Ooo, and elder demon." Sang an unfamiliar voice, "We found several of those a few weeks ago."
"Almost a month," added Matthias.
"Then you have sealed your fate. My voice quivering with rage. I smacked him over the head with the blunt end of the staff, he cried out in pain.
"Azelaz, help me!"
And then, a shadow moved through the tall grass, and it stood between Matthias and I.
"You must be Azelaz. A daemon, I suppose?"
"And you must be Abraxas. Your men told me that you would come eventually, they said that you have a true form so large it dwarfs the mountains. Bring it out, I want to fight you at your full strength."
"Your pride will be your death, but as you wish. You might want to take a few steps back or you'll get squished by my transformation."
I began to transform into my true form. A titanic, skeletal giant with a horn upon my head and bone spikes jutting out along my spine. Trees, underbrush, and tall grass all crushing as my body grew substantially in size. When I am fully transformed, I look down with my excellent vision, even for so high, but I could not find them. I take the time to transform back into my human form and I see their crushed corpses a few feet away.
"I should probably go back to my village and explain our unfortunate situation."
I transform into a golden eagle and fly back to my camp.
"DAMN! Damn you all scourge of mortal kin, damn ye harlot brood, damn ye thorns of sin! Do you bear not any mind of who I AM!?" He screams, still holding his eyes, the flames ignited around him once more, and unfolding and swinging out from his body, were two magnificent, gigantic wings of black, as feathers molted from them spread through the air, caught in the winds of his rage. As he opens his eyes, gleaming like the gates of the underworld, blue embers rain about him as he begins his approach. The calm facade has faded, and a storm has come. "Learn again the hate born, learn again the failure, learn again, Editus Rayn!"
It was clear he was no longer being rational, his mind was now an angry haze, the reservoir within him had ruptured and now spilled out around him, not so subtly spilling across the land around him as he claws at trees and other shrubbery in a wild frenzy. It did not help that once already since his awakening had he been stricken, as if being returned were not bad enough, but now he was made a fool of by a small... talking... animal!
heard before, even before he was enlightened. He stopped and turned back in bewilderment,
just as a blast of wind knocked him off of his feet and into a nearby tree. Luckily it
didn't hurt too much. But Thorns eyes widened and dialated as once again he saw the blue
aura of flame engulf the figure he had been tormenting. His little mouth began to open
slowly in amazement as he watched him vent.
He stayed in his tree, climbing up a few branches and slowly walking over one of them
to be as close to Editus as he could, letting him calm down and the flames hopefully
dissipate. He would have been far, far away if those magic wings and blue flames hadn't
warranted a tirade of questions and inquiries he needed to know. He got onto a branch
roughly five feet above and ten feet away from Editus.
He called out.
"Excuse me Bird Man, but you don't need to feel bad. You are not stupid. I am just very
smart." he said, trying to be empathetic and failing miserably.
"But you need to tell me! What are those flames? Did you always have those wings?
Could you knock this tree over if you tried?!" His speech got more rapid as he forgot his
fight or flight instincts, jumping down from the tree and continuing on with his tirade.
"Do you cook with that trick? Thats what its called right? Burning dead animals? Cooking,
right?" He thought of the last time he ate, which was too long ago.
"Are you hungry? What do you eat? Will you cook for me? I can tell we're gonna be friends."
He said with a hyena like chuckle, fearlessly walking up to Editus and poking at his wings,
purple eyes alight with curiosity.
When at the coastline, there are things one might expect to see. A fisherman or two wouldnβt warrant a glance. Nobody would bat an eye at a boat or two. Travelers flitting about would be as exciting as seeing your upteenth fish. Such things were seen, yes, but there was that odd presence strolling along that stood out rather badly. The black clothing and shining buttons were one thing, the odd feeling of magic radiating from him another. It was as if a mage had decided to invest sensibly and started reaping the rewards.
Oh, and he was a skeleton. One supposes that bears mentioning.
βCome now! No soul shall want for decent transportation in my presence!β, the lich said, his voice as dusty as a forgotten crypt. An upper-crust accent still rang through, about as archaic as they come. Tapping his cane against the cobbles, the figure brought it to bear with a twirl. It came to rest pointing at a black-and-gold airship moored at a distant dock. From the looks of it, the craft was quite well-furnished and undoubtedly roomy. From where they were, those with keen eyes could spy the words βAvaritiaβ emblazoned on the side. In gold, of course.
βProvided one is willing to compensate for the privilege of being a passenger on such a mighty vessel, one would be allowed to fly free of questions. Iβve a queer feeling weβre all on the same path, as it were.β The undead gentleman lowered his cane, clearly pleased with his own generosity. Before he could ever-so-humbly state such things, however, something crossed his mind. Fishing out a timepiece from somewhere in his finery, he clicked it open and ran his sockets across it. A skull shouldnβt be able to make a tutting sound, but that wasnβt stopping it.
βAh. I must be off lest those scoundrels loading the casks decide to skim off what they have yet to earn (Never hire local labor, let me tell you), and rob me of some rather exquisite sherry. The invitation holds. Simply say that Goldbones sent you and youβll be on quick as a blink.β He doffed his top hat, snapping the watch closed and sliding it back into place. βRight then. Good day!β
Maximilian walked a few steps before fading into sickly green motes, the swarm of lights buzzing like corpse-flies before fading away. The whispers of his muttering were still heard, trailing in the air. βA blind girl and an elf. How novel...β
Enervis was the most dangerous place on the planet for and was a prim hunting ground for apex predators such as experiments. But unfortunately for them Cayden was an equally deadly predator in his own right and right now he was on the hunt. Even now he was honed in on a set of tracks heading towards the coast, a pair of somethings by the looks of it. Whatever they were they were bipedal judging by the tracks, but that didn't mean they were human oh no. You don't hunt experiments as long as Cayden did without knowing they came in many different types and verities, that included humanoid. First step, verify, then go from there was what the situation called for. However as he and Iris, his Dire Wolf companion, moved forward a low rumble shook the ground, causing bot hunter and companion to crouch low, eyes darting about looking for the source. Soon it stopped, only to restart a few moments later before fading away.
Cayden and Iris held their ground, cautiously waiting for something to attack them. But nothing came.....save for a thundering roar several minutes later which split the air, shaking the trees and spending birds and animals scattering. Cayden held his rifle at the ready, Iris growling in warning at the unseen threat. In the distance trees falling could be heard and it was no doubt what ever made that roar was on the move. But the sounds of falling trees grew distant and it was apparent it was not coming for them, βMoving inland, away from us. Don't know what that is but as long as it stays away we'll leave it alone....for now.β Cayden said aloud. Looked to Iris who had stopped growling but had her fur standing on edge, βCome on, lets find where these tracks are heading. Maybe we'll fill our quota early.β Cayden said as they resumed the hunt.
Ten minutes or so later the pair followed the tracks to the open coast which was a far cry from the enclosed forest. Keeping to the tree lines the two moved along the beach searching for their prey. This was made more difficult as the tracks went out onto the beach but to remain concealed the two had to stay within the tree lines to take advantage of the cover it provided. But soon, Cayden spied two figures down the beach, no doubt the targets they were looking for. Using the scope on his rifle he peered down the beach and could make out two humanoids walking. He couldn't see any distinguishing details to tell if it they were human or experiment which was a problem. Cayden would have to get closer to be able to tell and each step closer not only took him out of his primary zone of combat but also increased the chance of being discovered. But Cayden wasn't about to risk shooting at possible hunters or even civilians for that matter. It was either get closer and verify or leave a potentially deadly set of experiments on the lose.
In the end there was no debate over the course of action. Backing a bit further into the trees, Cayden and Iris continued to stalk their target in an attempt to get closer and discover if they were friend, or prey.

Sorry for the short post. But I'm busy and will be for a few days longer.
by Revenant Sorrow -
I hope you don't mind me making up some lore. You can ignore the italics if MartinVole decides against it.
by Revenant Sorrow -
Do note that I left a possible plottwist and the reason for the Elves' hate for Alistair in it.
by Revenant Sorrow -
I mean, I can easily imagine some former friends of Calion going 'That son of a bitch, is he also responsible for Calion's descend?' depending on them knowing about Alistair's involvement in Calion's life. Which is highly likely.
by Revenant Sorrow -
Just to be aware, there's a very angry Demon Lord raging across Enervis. Woken up on the wrong side of the bed, where all sides are wrong sides, as it were.
by MartinVole -
In fact, I'd wonder if Calion knew of Editus, or if Editus played a part in Calion's fall, given I noted that he has instigated betrayal/rebellion in the past.

Then again, maybe it had simply aged too much by the point he'd reached that level of skill? Humans were rather short-lived after all.
He looked at the blind girl next to him awkwardly, not knowing whether she had picked up on it's undead nature.
"This...", Thawulunnor shook his head, "What do you think of the offer he made Madison?"
[He did note that this Goldenbones didn't seem to have much knowledge of Elves either. Thanks to Thawulunnor elves had begun to despise necromancy with a fiery passion, almost rivalling -or possibly even surpassing- their supposed hatred for demonkind. He also knew out of personal experience that elves, once they begin a vendetta against someone or something, will never snap out of it, unless it turns out to be a setup. Then they turn their ire on the nebt target.
He couldn't imagine anything happening to snap them out of their hatred for necromancy though. So the skeleton would probably have been attacked on the spot if he had been any other elf but himself.]
Madison heard the clinging of coin and gold getting louder, turning her face in the direction, focusing on the sound. Itβs footsteps didnβt were heavy, plus there was also a type of clattering noise, almost like bones. A Skeleton? She thought to herself before hearing him talk in a higher manner.
After thinking for a second, she did think it would be a way off the coast. This man, or type of being, was offering them free passage. But whatβs the catch Madison thought to herself and wanting to ask out loud. She was brought out of her train of thought by Thawulunnor asking about the offer.
βWell, we are short of coin and he didnβt really ask for any payment I think.β Madison said, still trying to decipher all what was exactly said. βBut it does get us out of here.β She said standing up. As she stood up she felt a presence like they were being watched and snapped her head towards the tree line trying to focus on whatever it was, but the ocean waves didnβt help. It was probably just an animal or something.
"Look," he said after waiting for the critter to finally be silent, quite clearly exasperated. "This... thing you are doing... goes contrary to survival, in fact, this is the exact opposite. Say, for example, do you enrage a bear, and then try to ask it about its day? No! Because then it'll likely cleave your stupid talking head from your shoulders and bleed you out like a stuck hog!" He placed a hand on his forehead and, the other he held out presenting the destruction he wrought. "Perhaps I have miscommunicated myself here, but I believed the trail of destruction was a distinctive sign that maybe it'd be best to sod off! What... why am I even explaining this..?"
He took in a sharp breath and sighed, looking down at the half-pint of a nuisance. Even if he could just extinguish this creature's life right here, it would accomplish nothing. He couldn't even feel angry properly now thanks to its meddling. Sitting down on the trunk of a tree he felled, he decided he'd best answer some of those stupid questions, feeling he'd probably just get annoyed further if he doesn't.
"Alright, since you are so curious, then listen here, you thorn in my side... yes, there, perhaps I'll call you just that, Thorn," he begins, rolling a condescending tone, rubbing his chin. "Anyways... perhaps the world has grown ignorant in my absence. But, those flames are actually the violent conflagration of the natural mana in the air... which is to say, I'm setting nature ablaze by my presence. You see, my very existence is the scourge to this contemptible world, and I have sent many to their despicable ends, some of which by their own devices with a gentle nudge by me. Which is to say that I am... by your tongue, perhaps, an Elder Demon."
He then paused and glared down at Thorn.
"All things of nature strives to evade me, so... why aren't you?"
Standing up again, his senses returning to him, he lifted his head to test the air. "So, there are still people on this godforsaken world! Those of my... brethren still roaming, some things unfamiliar, and... an elf, ah, this is curious," he muttered in a mocking tone. "Surprised I have not yet stirred the natives, a disappointment not to be greeted with the reception I rightfully deserve. I'm sure I put on a big enough show already. Perhaps I should make a more pronounced greeting."
Extending his arm into the air, the Elder Demon conjured the blue flames in the air, twisting a spiraling, a maelstrom of magic cast into the skies above, raining down the blue fire, flames that do not burn the flesh, but stings all the same. It wasn't quite his intention yet to kill, but to make a statement of his presence. This time it wasn't just a brief rush, but a continuous flow as he cast his dark magic across the surrounding lands, engulfing it in twilight. The trees once again stirred. If he could at least get the attention of other Elder Demons, he could at least make something worthwhile of his awakening.
I do wonder what this new world has to offer... though, I'm sure to be disappointed.

Oberos ↪ Enervis Owner: MartinVole
Western-most and largest continent, this land is mostly used for agriculture as much lush forests remain. This is the most deadly of the continents, with lots of Elder Demons, and experiments escaped from abandoned laboratories.

Oberos ↪ Rithallae Owner: MartinVole
The central continent, it is the smallest of the three. In the past it sported the densest population, being heavily urbanized. To this day it is still the industrial center of the world, even though most of its people have fallen.

Oberos Owner: MartinVole
The second planet where most of the action happens on. A few city states are thinking of banding together and starting a space-program to help colonize the the third planet in the system though.

Oberos ↪ Skaellia Owner: MartinVole
Skaellia is the northern continent, and its environment is harsh, unforgiving and rife with volcanic activity. This makes it a good place to gather various metals, however. There is always work to be done here, and it is relatively safe from abominations.

Re: The Forsaken: Rebirth
Science has improved since the edicts, now that humans were capable of using magic. But again, chances are high that not everyone has access to it.
Some things that are known for sure:
- According to the description of the location Oberos, they're at the very least at a level that they would be able to start colonizing another planet in the system.
(It is unknown whether said third planet is Titanis or not, and therefore capable of supporting life already)
- Genetic studies and the like were a lot better, what with governments actually experimenting on humans and other beings.
- The picture in the description of the location Reick shows a modern-ish harbour.
-They're capable of collecting metals from flowing lava. (Not sure how that works, but it's something)
That's pretty much all I can think of right now, that's already known.

Yeah, I was busy with other things and with helping others get set up when posting started. Didn't quite confirm to start posting yet, which has taken me by surprise. Right now they are just mainly doing character intros though. Would have wanted to see if others were going to be in these scenes though first but... at the same time, at this point, I don't want to tell people NOT to post.
Eh, we'll work with it, maybe having a scene set up in a location can give others some a means to jump in.
Lufia wrote:Hey-o! So I've come to... Well... Join this Roleplay if at all possible, as I found the concept rather interesting and almost came up with an idea for a character as I was reading this, one whom is an experiment with bio-technical advances, whose body is both machine and flesh. While I don't have the full details fleshed out juuuust yet (Pun intended), but I thought I would pass that by as a brief idea.
Thanks~

Re: The Forsaken: Rebirth
(Although I have to admit it's the name of the previous creator in the rules section that gave me the last push in the end. I adopted one of her characters in the multiverse, you see, and figured that any setting made by someone that could come up with Reyna would probably be worth it.)
Not-So-Quick question though:
I've got a lot of ideas for characters in this setting, but one in particular, and was wanting to know if the following would be okay. It does bend the lore established a little bit, but it's no where near breaking it as far as I know :
The idea in question involves one of the 'ancient evils released by the foolishness of man'. I was thinking of making an elven mage that was seduced to Alistair's side by promises of whatever, who waged war on their own kind, and got sealed away for it in the end.
I thought, I'd ask first before starting to work on a bio for this one as opposed to one of the other ones, since it could be quite possibly rejected in the end.
