Historical background: Tanner has an unconditional love for his younger brother whom he always took care of while their parents were gone. He's spoiled beyond belief with objects rather than spending quality time with family, so he didnt know much from beyond school and home life, eating snacks all day, which turns out to be a huge disadvantage now that he must survive in a dangerous world and look for his younger brother whom he got separated with when the world was sucked into the future. He was fairly good in school so he's not exactly dumb, but his confidence in his abilities usually keep him from actually thinking rationally, however by some miracle, (or perhaps genetics since his father was a natural hunter) he manages to get through sticky situations with his "ninja skills" which he started working on as a child because he wanted to grow up to be a ninja.
