The Fragment of a Thought

Two millennia ago, the Gods Order and Chaos did battle and were lain to rest at its end. In order to prevent another near cataclysm, six young adults possessed by the fragments of Order must find a way to lull Chaos to sleep once more.

Two-thousand years ago, the armies of Chaos and Order did battle against one another. Chaos sought to destroy the world, while Order desired its preservation. The ultimate fate of humankind was uncertain, as these opposing forces continued in a never-ending war. Neither Chaos nor Order ever seemed to gain the upper hand; both seemed as powerful as the other.

This war nearly destroyed the entire world, and all life.

Yet, after what seemed forever, Order managed to get the edge against Chaos, and strike it a fatal blow. . . . Joy spread throughout the remaining humans in the world, for the war seemed to have finally ended. This rejoicing time would be short lived however, as Chaos was far from dead.

Order, knowing there was no true way to forever end the war between itself and Chaos, split itself into six pieces; each piece representing one of the six elements that made up the world. There was Light, Shadow, Fire, Water, Earth and Air. In its efforts to preserve the world and life, the six pieces tore Chaos into six pieces and scattered it across the globe; sealing the horrible God away.

The six pieces of Order came to be known to humanity by these names; Lumen, Tenebrae, Ignis, Aqua, Terra and Ventus. They were revered as Gods in their own right due to their sealing of Chaos. An age of peace, love and prosperity set in upon the world, and humans were able to live without fear for the first time in eons. . . .

To humans, they as a whole became known as β€˜The Elemental Six.’

This golden age would soon end though, as Chaos once more attempted to awaken and throw the world out of balance. The six pieces of Order rushed to the sites, and once more re-established the seals over the scattered remains of the dark God. However, the six came to an ultimate decision. In order to give humanity a chance to flourish and thrive without the worry of Chaos once more emerging and destroying all they had strived to create . . . they themselves became a part of the six seals.

By becoming a part of the seals, they were able to strengthen the holds they had on Chaos and create a sort of balancing effect between each other. Good cancelled out evil and vice-versa.

Humanity’s existence would persist on into the eras following, the stories of Order and Chaos becoming a tale forgotten to time. Through Order’s sacrifice, humankind would thrive, and advance to an amazing point.

Yet . . . humanity is still not safe from the forces of Chaos, even after two millennia. You see, the dark God has began to stir once more, even the six pieces of Order have not been enough to keep it locked down completely. Why is that you may ask?

Well . . . you see, the forces of Chaos and Order were both Gods who were born from the mortal heart, from the wills to do either good or evil. Because these concepts are things that cannot be extinguished from the heart; neither of the Gods can ever truly die.

As these two shall forever continue to exist, it was possible for Chaos to awaken from its sealed slumber should the human heart begin to fall down the path of evil. . . . And, it has. The six pieces of Chaos have begun to stir, breaking free of their seals and preparing for the inevitable battles to come. And as it was said when Order sealed itself away; the elemental six themselves had since awoken, choosing for themselves vessels whom they would use to fend off Chaos.

They have come to possess the souls of six young humans who are unaware of the roles they now play in the destiny of the world. . . .

Our story picks up in a metropolis on the West coast of the United States; a lumbering city called New Ithaca. By some means, all of the teenagers who have been possessed by the elemental six have managed to gather here, though they do not yet know one another. Each teenager either has kept the development of these powers a secret from everyone, even their parents, or have come out into the open about them. How their parents reacted was something that varied. . . . Some reacted with utter fear and shock, perhaps calling their child a monster or a demon in human flesh. Others may have been surprised but supportive of their child’s newfound, albeit bizarre, abilities and accepted them with it. . . . No matter how the youths decided to deal with their powers; keeping them concealed or telling their parents about them, one thing remains clear, the fact that they all now live in New Ithaca.

How they choose to use these powers of course, is entirely up to the person in question, some of the six may choose to use their powers for the betterment of humanity, while others might use theirs for personal gain; and some might take an entirely neutral stance, not using their powers at all.

It all depends on the individual. To the youths though, they are not aware of the reasons behind the manifestation of their powers. The lives of these six will soon intersect with one another, while they wind up getting others caught up in the mystery of their abilities and the battle for the fate of Earth. . . .

Character Slots: There are six main roles required to start the roleplay, I accept reservations, but I’m strict about enforcing a cap time on how long you may reserve without asking for an extension! If you wish to reserve a slot, ask in the OOC thread, reservations last for 48 hours from the time I confirm them. If you need more time than this, post a message in the OOC and I’ll give you a 24 hour extension. If you exceed the 48 hour cap time without asking for an extension, I will open the character slot back up and allow someone else to take it.

Okay, as far as things go, the slots below are all the slots that are currently open. I am willing to open up another slot or two if the lot of these are filled up should someone really wish to join though. However, once the slots for the Elemental Six are taken, they are taken; the only other place where slots can be opened up are the villains and humans slots. The β€˜Extra’ category applies to any extra characters people wish to make. I myself will be creating more than one character, and will go onto make what I call NPC villains; secondary characters who serve as universal villains for the roleplay prior to the introduction of the main villain.

These NPC villains will be available for everyone to control and write, so long as they keep them in character according to their profiles. Everyone will be allowed to create villains like this, if they wish. There are, of course, the villains solely controlled by a single member, these differ from the NPC villains, and they don’t have to remain villains.

All characters can sway between the lines of good and evil, as long as they aren’t constantly back and forth, make sure they change sides in a realistic fashion and time frame.

As far as plot development goes, I’m going to state it now, I don’t want to be the only one at work here. I have plans on opening up an OOC thread regarding people being allowed to create their own subplots and little side-stories for within the roleplay. I want this roleplay to go for a good long while, and to remain interesting, so the thoughts of everyone are more than welcome here.

Toggle Rules

1. As far as posting length goes, I’m imposing a minimum word count per post. I don’t want a bunch of tiny posts, so I’ll ask that you please write at least one-hundred words per post. Also, I expect proper grammar and spelling, this is meant to be a literate roleplay so, I think that understandable?

2. No godmodding or meta-gaming. Seriously, no one really likes this, so don’t force an outcome to a battle or anything, okay? Also, no killing other people’s characters off!

3. Post as often as you’d likeβ€”I’d love it if everyone could post at least once a day, but I know that can be a bit much to ask at times. So, I’d really appreciate it if everyone posted just as much as they could. At the minimum, I’ll be asking for a post once every three days here, if you don’t, I’ll be PMing you about this. Nothing personal, I just don’t want my roleplay to go and die out!

I understand that real life gets in the way of online life sometimes though, so if you can’t post for a little while, please notify everyone in the OOC thread, okay? Then go ahead and try to get your character out of the limelight for a little while so the roleplay doesn’t get all stopped up and stuck. If you can’t do this though, permission will be granted to the other players to ghost roleplay your character to the extent of performing minor actions in order to get them out of the limelight until you yourself are able to return and assume control.

If you are gone for more than five days without proper notification though, your character will be put up for dibs, and one of the remaining active roleplayers will be allowed to control them until you return.

Also, there is no set posting order at all, simply, do not double post.

4. Romance is encouraged here, but not smut. Yes, one of the tags for this roleplay is β€˜adult’ as I expect some situations to arise in the roleplay that aren’t exactly rated G. Buuuut, I don’t want full out graphic scenes cluttering the roleplay up, keep the situations PG-13 and make sure you follow the rules of the site tooβ€”wrap up kissing scenes in two posts, and keep the stuff separated by five posts in total. If things start taking a turn for the too graphic, FADE TO BLACK and take your hormones elsewhere. I don’t want to log onto the roleplay and find a sex scene or something really smutty. . . . ._.

You can use innuendo and stuff here, but, try not to make it the only thing your character says, give them some more depth than that.

5. As far as violence goes, it and gore are not a problem for me at all. There are going to be fights and action in this roleplay, so I expect some blood, but I don’t want the roleplay turning into some gore-laced horror story, where there is a disemboweled body at every turn, so let’s keep death and injury at a realistic level. We don’t want anyone leaving here mentally scarred, do we?

6. Reserve characters in the OOC thread, remember that there is a cap time for reservations, two days from the time I confirm your request. Also remember this; if you can’t commit to the roleplay, then don’t submit.

7. If you have a question, ask me. ^^

8. Do not post until it stated that it is time to begin, I will myself write the introduction post, and once it has been placed, then it is free game.

~ Nicoletta Celeste Ardente ~

Raining, raining, raining . . . it just HAD to be raining didn’t it? No, with her luck, it would be even stranger if it had not been raining cats and dogs. She knew that too. The whole day, it seemed like the sky might just open up and let the rain fall, but never had. As long as the sun was suppose to be out, everything was rather murky looking, all gloomy. Unpleasant and just horrible looking; it was the sort of day that made you want to curl back up in bed under your covers because it was icky out and cold.

Cold yes, but not cold enough for it to snow. Just rain.

This was where her story picks up, shortly after sunset, when the first bits of rain began to fall from the clouds above, thunder rolling overhead as she attempted to traverse the labyrinth-like confines of the section of a city called New Ithaca known as β€˜Xibalba’ to the city’s youth. It lay deep within the heart of Avalon; New Ithaca’s thriving downtown, and was rather infamous for all of the illegal activities that took place here, as well as the syndicates that made their homes within its confines. Most sane people, who had no business in Xibalba, always were explicitly careful not to wander into after dark. The things that could happen to a person after dark . . . oh, those are things one shouldn’t even want to think about.

Unfortunately, Nicoletta Ardente had been taking the bus home from a little trip to the grocery store, and had found herself falling asleep as it went on. She had nodded off, conking out in her seat, no one bothering to awaken her from her slumber until the bus was making its final stop for the night. One of the last remaining passengers spotted the little blonde dozing away, shook her shoulder and informed her that it was time for her to get off. The bus was going to be heading back to the station for the night.

Perplexed, and lost in the clutches of post-slumber confusion, Nicoletta was guided off the bus by the passenger who had woke her up, and left alone with a wish for luck. As soon as the chilly rainfall hit her face, Nicoletta was brought back to her full senses, and she unexpectedly realized where it was she had been left. The bus pulled away, and Nicoletta was left unaccompanied, standing on a sodden sidewalk in the part of the Avalon district someone of her size did not want to be after dark; Xibalba.

It didn’t take long for Nicoletta’s clothes to become soaked from the rain, and stick to her; same for her hair. Making as much haste as she could, Nicoletta began to walk off to the nearest bus station to try to find a schedule for a bus that would get her home as soon as possible. She knew that her brother would not be happy when she turned up at home late.

Of course though, it didn’t take long for some rather unpleasant individuals to take notice of Nicoletta and her small stature. . . . As soon as she realized she was being stalked by several men whom were at least twice her size in weight, she took off in a sprint.

And this is where we join Nicoletta, in the midst of being pursued by several strange men on a cold, rainy night as thunder rolled overhead.

Damn it, she mentally cursed, rounding a corner as she took in a rather ragged breath of air, Damn it all, why did I have to fall asleep? And why did I have to be on the one bus that made its final stop in Xibalba of all places in New Ithaca?

The rain pelted her face, and her bare legs, she had picked a bad day to wear shorts, and the heels of her sandals clicked against the cracked and worn out cement of the sidewalk loudly. It was so dark, and so hard to see where she was going through the rain. . . . Nicoletta didn’t know anything about Xibalba’s layout, all she knew was where the bus stations were so if she wound up there, she could leave as soon as she possibly could. But, she couldn’t navigate the confines of this labyrinth-like section of the city while running for dear life.

Behind Nicoletta, so close behind her, she could hear the footfalls of those pursuing her. She wanted to cry, part of her really wanted to cry, to scream out in mortal terror, but would it do any good? Would it do any good here In Xibalba? I wish it wasn’t raining! If it wasn’t raining I could scare these losers off with my fire. . .

β€œHeeey! C’mon now you pretty little thing! Why don’tcha slow down and talk to me and my friends? We ain’t gonna hurt ya, y’know!” Nicoletta heard one of the men behind her call out. She dare not look back; she knew one of the rules when it came to being chased was to never look back at what was behind you. It just slowed you down.

As if I’d talk to you lot, With that Nicoletta rounded yet another corner, heading down an alleyway to what hopefully be a more open area. . . . Her feet splashed against water that had built up in the narrow parting between buildings as she darted through it, only to be forced to slide to a stop as she nearly hit a dead end. Nicoletta let out a light gasp, and a whimper, taking the slightest of steps backward, realizing that she was in quite the predicament. No, no, no this was seriously not happening to her!

There was a laugh, a sinister, rather ominous laugh that sounded out too clearly through the pouring rain to Nicoletta’s ears. With fear written into her bones, Nicoletta slowly craned her head around, and looking to the entrance of the alley she was now trapped in.

Standing there, still, was the silhouettes of several men. Their shadows and sizes were evident against the light that barely made its way into the little passage. β€œWell now, looks like yer trapped, ain’t ya?” One of the men breathed out.

Nicoletta turned around, completely and instinctively she attempted to back up, as anyone would in her situation. When her shoulder made contact with the chain link fencing behind her, she let out a whine as it rattled on. Slowly the men were closing in on her; maybe they were actually going faster, but in the terror-laced mind of Nicoletta they were coming at her in a slow manner that made her skin go gooseflesh, it sent chills of utter horror down her spine. It made everything feel all the more worse than it was then.

Without thinking about it much, Nicoletta brought her hands out in front of her and attempted to conjure up any sort of fire she could. Please, please! To whatever omnipotent force out there who gave me these powers,I beg of you to please let me make a flame strong enough now to save my skin! PLEASE!! she prayed desperately.

She flexed her fingers several times, a small ball of fire forming in-between the palms of her hands, only to be snuffed out by the rain that fell. Nothing, she just couldn’t manage anything up. . . . Seemed whatever gave her, her powers just wasn’t listening to Nicoletta tonight. β€œDamn it. . . .” she seethed, looking up to see the men who had been chasing her were only a few feet from her, through the darkness Nicoletta could make out a sick smile upon the face of the one she presumed their leader.

Nicoletta pressed herself back into the fencing, as much as it would allow her too, and gripped onto it as a hand latched onto the fence right above her head, a bolt of shock and utter fright went through Nicoletta’s body at the noise it made. And before the man could say even a word, Nicoletta screamed out as loudly as her small body would allow her, β€œSOMEONE! PLEASE HELP ME!!”

Syd Lastern

Xibalba, the Place of Fears. Had a good ring to it, and none of it false.

Syd had always questioned how this little corner of hell had decided to be called something so foreign. He heard once that it was based off some version of Hell by the Mayans or something, but it mattered not: After dark, he who didn't know the town, didn't leave. It was a simple rule that most of its inhabitants of drug lords, smugglers and racketeers, followed by strongly. Basically put, you either eat or be eaten. Though cannibalism was frowned upon, even in the darkest corners of New Ithica.

The rain was starting to piss Syd off. He hated storms, how they always made the mood somber and uninteresting. Especially if it brought thunder. Damn that cursed loud booming noise created by the crack of lightning, it made him crawl out of his skin every time. The Deck always called him a pansy about it, making fun of Syd as he grabbed some ear plugs when a thunderstorm started. Their minds changed real quick when Syd would threaten to kick them out of the Network, that usually shut them bastards right up. However, Syd was stuck having to do a beer run, which was obvious by the cases he carried. Normally Syd didn't care much for the stuff - he preferred mixing himself something, but the guys were thirsty, and that damn Newby drank like a fricking sailor. Even if he was the King, he still had to take his turn: Didn't want people thinking he couldn't handle a damn beer run. He also took the oppertunity to scope out the area, making sure nobody suspicious was just chilling in the night. Sure, there were lots of suspicious people in Xibalba, but Syd knew most of those guys. What he was looking for were people that didn't fit into the scandalous norm, like undercover cops that had no damn clue what they were doing, or lost strays that made a wrong turn. Syd always felt a little of sympathy for those people, and usually directed them straight out of the Place of Fears. Less people to worry about, the better.

He had also gotten some groceries, if you could call them that, for when he went home for the night. If I even get to go home tonight. Syd grumbled at the terrible memory of last night, when one of his men was compromised and he had to go save his ass. Needless to say, that guy wouldn't be getting another job with the Network. Ever.

As he rounded the corner, he noticed the backs of 3 men that looked awfully familiar. He stared at the side of the one man's face long enough and realized who they were: He recognized those guys as that rapist group that moved in a few months before. He met them when they caught an unfortunate girl who had been passing by, and paid him off to keep him silent. Syd usually hated being told what to do by people that didn't know the ropes of Xibalba, but they paid enough for him to dismiss the thought. He hadn't slept well that night, and felt as if the poor girls screams were keeping him awake. He blinked, and the memory faded. Hopefully he didn't see what they were doing this time, as he really wanted to sleep well for once, if that was even possible anymore. However, that didn't seem to be the case for Syd, as he was about 20 feet away when he heard a scream.

SOMEONE! PLEASE HELP ME!! Syd sighed in frustration. He wouldn't be sleeping tonight if he just continued walking by. That girl's screams would keep him up, though he never admitted that to anybody. His poker face was nearly flawless, and he wasn't going to give that up just because he couldn't sleep much anymore. The rain continued to hit the top of his already wet head, running down his large collar and onto his neck, chilling him slightly. He was glad he hadn't worn his Converse shoes, since all the rain would have wrecked them by now. His boots continued to clomp in the rain as he approached the alleyway, and he was faced with a decision. Clomp, Clomp, Clomp His feet went, keeping a steady rhythm as he weighed his options: Either walk past and not sleep tonight, or intervene, hopefully get a good sleep and have to deal with this girl. Clomp, Clomp, Clomp

He approached the man at the back, and dropped the items in his hands. With a sigh of boredom, he quickly cocked his pistol and aimed it at the last man's head, and spoke in a bored voice. "Look fellas. Not tonight, alright? I want to sleep a little. So run along now." The guy with the gun to his head jumped a little, and the men turned to him slowly. With their large statures, they could probably snap him in half, and they knew it. The guy who played the 'leader' began to laugh at him.

Until he pulled the trigger on the man he was aiming at. They stared at him, and he said one last thing before aiming it at the leader "I'm not asking again. We of the Deck don't take kindly to people who don't listen. So eff off." And they took off into the night, and he watched them run. When they had left, he actually looked at the body first, and muttered "Man, this guy isn't gunna be an easy one to get rid of..."

(Right, well, time to post....in reverse order!) (For reasons i cant quite explain, the last bit of history for Alex is getting replayed below)

Alex:

Alex had been in the spa area the past few hours. Why? well for one thing, his dad was doing a "buisness deal" again. He had previously been going to take a shower, but his dad made him leave before he could. So the spa was the next best thing. Actually it was probably better. Plus he only had the towel. His father was always very rushed when it comes to his more exclusive deals. Not to mention the massages were amazing. Anyways. Alex had just gotten off the elevator into the penthouse. He then bumped into one of the buisness people, falling backwards and loosing his grip. Of course, Alex assumed he did that on purpose. After he laughed at him a little, Alex grabbed his leg. Alex then mentioned "You look tired, you should go to sleep.....". The man practically almost passed out in the elevator as Alex wrapped his towel and left with a smirk.

Note: Alex does not like being messed with.

Alex then started to head for his room, before running into his dad. Now, his dad has been different as of late. Alex has personally been hoping that his father would be more......fathery. Thats when he actually ran into him. Normally, in this situation, his father would just say "Excuse me", as if he was a servant, and keep walking. Thats if he was in a good mood. A bad mood will usually result in a shove or a push and saying "Get out of my way". But today was different. He noticed Alex, and said "Hey Alex". He has NEVER done this before. Alex was stunned with shock. "Alex, i need your help with something....i know how you want to spend more time, to have a full real family, but you see, i have this problem.....this problem that just wont go away...", Alex was all ears. He then noted "You see, there is this one person...its complicated, and im sure you wont fully understand, but you see, if this one person is dead, then my new Business partner....and myself.....will be happy, and i will be able to get a bunch more free time once my partner gets what he wants......but i wont bore you with details. If you say, hear anything, or perhaps if you do something about it, i would be eternally grateful....". He then added "His name is Matthew, and Orphan, 2 years older then you, and he is going to cause big trouble unless he is dead....". Alex was still shocked, mind blown, about what he just said, as his dad left. Could this really be true. He pinched himself. Nope, not a dream. Also ouch.

Alex instantly ran to his room after that and got one of his outfits. he had an identical outfit for each day, plus one extra. He REALLY likes that outfit. He even has different hats for each of them. Why does he have that many hats? Why not!

Alex was now ready. He was determined. His family could be together once more. He was never going to give up. He wanted at least one blood relative to be there for him. To be there to care about him. And this was his chance at that. He was going to kill this Matthew, right in front of his dad, so he will be proud, and spend time with him. He wont let anyone stop him. He just wants one damn true family member. And now, he had a chance to get one.

And he was going to take it.

Matthew

Matthew was still up. The cheer of crowds. The lights on the field. Matthew ran forward, kicking the soccer ball in front of him. He was in the middle of a soccer game. Granted, a very late night soccer game, but the football game had been in the way. It was tied and the game was almost over. He just needed to score one goal. He dodged the other team, quickly passing it to a teammate nearby. He then ran ahead, and the teammate passed back to him, and he kicked it into he goal. Soon after the victory bell rang.

Matthew took the game ball home with him. It was dark, as he began walking back home. Which was an orphanage, but it was home. For now. He kept looking over his shoulder however, always making sure no one was behind him. Which was at least somewhat often. At least he thought it was. Matthew then asked "Hello Whos there?? If your following me, don't bother, i know how to defend myself and its not worth your time..."

Thats when he swore he heard someone following him. He started to run. He could hear someone running behind him. Matthew sighed. "Who is it this time".

(Thats the best intro post i can muster at this time for me. now excuse me, i have to sleep....)

It was a perfectly gloomy day to go out. The bright, evil sun was covered by the guardian clouds. The day was eclipsed by night. It was as though they were calling Little Miss Shadows out of her corner. Just to be sure that it was dark outside, Twilla pulled her hood over her face and peaked out the front door before proceeding out. The day was absolutely mystifying. The cool air made Twilla’s skin prickle. What a lovely day for a long walk…

Twilla did nothing as she walked… She barely even thought about anything. She just wandered endlessly, tracing the shadows with every step. Carefully, Twilla avoided any light the would come her way. Light was poison. Light could kill her. Nothing was more frightening than if light were to touch her porcelain skin or seep into her magenta eyes. She would go blind… Or burn to death… Or something! Of course, Twilla was no vampire. However, Little Miss Shadows just knew that the light would kill her.

The world grew ever darker into a black night as the sun set behind the clouds. Twilla didn’t have to hide as much. All she would have to avoid would be any lights people would have on inside, flashlights and if there were a random streetlight working(which was rare).

As Twilla wandered, she saw a black cat strutting the streets. Black cats had to be the most beautiful creature on the planet. They walked with such majesty and their slick, black fur was so soft… The cat walked up to Twilla and rubbed on her leg. Twilla petted the sweet creature. At least black cats had a place where they fit in. Even in a district where black magic and voodoo ruled, Twilla was considered strange. There was nowhere for the poor girl to go.

The rain began to fall and the poor cat scampered off for shelter. The cool drops rolled off of Twilla’s skin and soaked into her long hair. Uncaring, Twilla stood up from her previously kneeling position and continued on her walk. She looked at the beautiful, black sky in wonder. Why was the darkness so feared? Would Twilla be forever hated for being strange by the people who were considered strange to normal people? Why couldn’t Little Miss Shadows have been born Little Miss Sunshine? If she had been, she would have been just like every other girl in the world… Loved, valuable… Talented in some way… Instead she was born Little Miss Shadows. She was born useless… She was born with evil powers that her father tried to kill her for… Powers she couldn’t even control. Little Miss Shadows was born to be gloomy and sad. She was never to have any friends. Twilla was meant to be the creepy little girl forever to hideaway. She could never go to a normal school, where she would be hated… Where they would have to find a way for her to avoid light and learn at the same time… A way to avoid light long enough to even get to school. Even after all that, the students and teachers had hated her… Hated her to the point where she would never return to normal school. Yes, Little Miss Shadows was so useless, no one could find love for her. Even her mother grew tired of her eventually… Now, her mother wouldn’t acknowledge her… Twilla was better off not existing.

At least Twilla was gloomy enough to ward people off. On most occasions, Twilla was completely avoided. No one cared to glance her way… If they ever spotted her, which wasn’t often because she was practically invisible, they would run away from her. She scared people… And they scared her. She wouldn’t have to deal with it much.

Coming from behind, Twilla heard footsteps. There was one set, closest to her… And several more sets farther away... It was rare for Twilla to see people at night… Most preferred to wander the day… Curtained with light. The opposite of Little Miss Shadows, Most feared the darkness. Twilla looked up, trying to see the people… Not seeing them, she turned around… She still didn’t see them. They had to have been in another street… And since it was night, it was easy to hear things that were farther way.

β€œHeeey! C’mon now you pretty little thing! Why don’tcha slow down and talk to me and my friends? We ain’t gonna hurt ya, y’know!” Twilla heard one of them call out to the one closest to Little Miss Shadows.

The footsteps grew closer and closer until Twilla actually saw a girl… Why was a girl going into a narrow place like this? Afraid, Twilla jumped behind a trashcan to wait until the people left…

β€œWell now, looks like yer trapped, ain’t ya?” One of the men called out to the girl…

Twilla peaked out from behind the trashcan. We they bullies? If they were being mean to this other girl, she had to help… But if they were not… Then she would seem even worse than she always did… Twilla would just ask. When she saw all the people, it scared her… So Twilla hid behind the trashcan again… β€œAre you guys bullies?” She called out as loud as she could muster. Fear swept over her as she had spoken to people she didn’t know… But if the other girl was in trouble… She had to help somehow! Shifting deeper into the corner between the building and the trashcan, Twilla accidentally knocked the lid from the can, causing a loud thrash.

No… No, no, no nono! Please tell me they didn’t hear that… Please, please, please, please, please! She pleased inside… She knew that it was impossible for them not to have heard… But still, she hoped they had not.

Out of seemingly nowhere, a voice echoed "Look fellas. Not tonight, alright? I want to sleep a little. So run along now. I'm not asking again. We of the Deck don't take kindly to people who don't listen. So eff off."

Twilla didn’t dare look… She was far too afraid… This was too much drama for one night… And even if her mother wouldn’t look at her, she would worry if she knew what was going on…

BANG!!! The sound of what seemed like a gunshot resounded through the air and not a moment later, the sound of something soft hitting the ground seeped into Little Miss Shadow’s ears. Twilla’s eyes widened as she cringed… There was fear… So much fear inside Little Miss Shadow… She didn’t want to move. She wouldn’t move… She couldn’t be seen or heard… Someone might have been killed… No more… No more… Twilla clasped her hands over her ears and rocked back and forth. She began to tune everything out… If she was going to be caught as a witness to murder and killed for it, at least she wouldn’t notice she was dying… Little Miss Shadows hoped and prayed that she wouldn’t be found… That she wouldn’t see a body… But what sort of god would listen to a girl who was so useless… Who would listen to anyone so hated and fearful…

Tears rolled down Twilla’s cheeks as she waited… What for…? She didn’t know.

"Aquele que luta com monstros deve cuidar para que ele nΓ£o se torna um monstro..."

The familiar voice that spoke to the woman came from no specific direction--it seemed to simply resound from all around, piercing straight through the ferocious assault of deafening death metal being blasted into her head through earphones shoved firmly into each ear. A voice--a familiar voice, low and deep, one that no one could hear but the woman who never wanted to hear it. It was familiar, but the time had long passed that she could place a name or a face to that voice--if she ever had been able to. That voice didn't seem to say much--not as much as the others. And when it did speak, it said the same thing, every time.

"E se vocΓͺ olhar por muito tempo em um abismo, o abismo olha tambΓ©m para dentro de vocΓͺ."

"E um grande foda-se com vocΓͺ tambΓ©m," Izzie Vieira grunted in responce. But she knew it would say no more. It never did. Just those two lines. And she kept walking.

It was night-time, and the moon overhead cast its ethereal glow down upon the woman as she walked along the path; the early stars, creeping their way into the night sky long before their belated brethren, wheeled overhead casting down a light drizzle of rain that drummed a pitter-patter rhythm against the heavy leather jacket, studded with spikes and chains, her hands shoved into its pockets. Her boots crunched against the loose gravel of the sidewalk as the hard rubber soles met the multitude of cracks and crevices that carved their way up and down the aging cement. Cool night air surrounded her--she felt its chill against the dark, rough skin of her face, the light breeze dispelling the thin wisps of smoke that issued from the cigarette held loosely between her thin, dry lips. From time to time she would reach one hand from her pocket to retrieve the cigarette, parting her lips to expel a steady stream of smoke into the night before the pencil-thin filter returned to its place.

This was what she did whenever she lacked anything better to do. Izzie revelled in the refreshing breeze of the night--at least, she preferred it to her apartment, which somehow managed to be either sweltering hot or frigid cold regardless of the external weather conditions. Guess that comes with living in a cheap-ass tenement, she thought spitefully, eyes narrowing on the path that laid out before her. Either way, having a smoke in the cool air of the night, walking along to the music she took comfort and enjoyment in, that was a lot better than having to deal with the neighbours and the landlords bitch and complain if she so much as stepped a little too hard on the thin-ass flooring or tapped on the walls that were so cheap and flimsy they may as well not have been there at all.

Sometimes, sometimes, she truly wished Chaos would target that damn tenement. She didn't care why. She just wanted to settle the...debate over the thinness of the walls by catapulting the landlord into each and every standing one with the force of a battleship cannon.

And whenever that thought came up, Izzie merely reminded herself that she was doing none of this for a personal vendetta of some kind. What she did for Chaos was for the benefit of everyone. Methods aside--she did what she had to do. The end result once Order's iniquitous intentions were buried at last would be worth it....

The Brazilian woman scrunched her nose up slightly in distaste. The scent was getting closer. Stronger. Had been for most of the time she'd been walking along this path. Someone not far ahead was walking along this same path--and in this part of town, she could assume it was probably some kind of low-life thug, out looking for pitiful dumbasses to mug or innocent, naive (and equally dumbass) girls to have their way with. Except that this scent, if she focused on it, turned it over in her nose as she inhaled and 'examined' it, for lack of a better word, seemed to belong to someone young...probably in their mid-teens. Which didn't exclude them from being a thug, but also meant Izzie wouldn't have to snap a few necks once the punk invariably decided to interrupt the irascible woman's contented evening of smokes and loud music. And it was only one scent, at least in that particular direction...which was also odd. What thug in their right mind, especially one in their mid fucking teens, found it a good idea to go out and about in these parts, on their own...?

It only took a brief second before Izzie decided she really didn't give a fuck.

"Torn away from my state of being, chosen to be forgotten..."

The scent was now more or less almost upon Izzie--or rather, she was almost upon whatever runt was producing the scent. She was paying it little attention, instead murmuring along the lyrics of the latest song the music player buried in the pocket of her jacket was spewing into her ears at obscene volumes. Whatever the kid up ahead was doing was of no concern to her. She had found that whilst the older thugs (older meaning early twenties, since few of Xibalba's lovely young gentlemen lived particularly long) had not a drop of proper judgement in the cement thick skulls encased in their bloated heads, the younger ones typically could tell apart the people who were easy pickings, and the people you just didn't fuck with.

Izzie liked to think she belonged in the latter category.

"One so distant from where I was conceived--a heaping mass of fear is what we hold dear..."

The cigarette she'd been smoking had long since burnt out. And then the one after that. And now the one currently held in her mouth was rapidly dwindling away as well. Her lips pulled into an only too-familiar scowl: she only had a few left in this pack. Certainly not enough to last her the night, at least into the hours in which she could buy some more packs. And, she realised, she also craved a stiff drink, though Izzie was only too familiar with the kinds of assholes who frequented the 'establishments' of Xibalba. All it took was a little alcohol and just one douchebag drunk off his ass siddling up and flirting sloppily with her and the next thing Izzie knew the night had ended with said douchebag hurled right through the bar's front window and into the street. As refreshing as it felt to humiliate yet another irritating jackass in front of his drunk-ass buddies (and the expressions on their faces were priceless. Priceless, I tell you), it was sure as hell not worth having to deal with the police afterwards. That one'd been a tricky one to manoeuvre out of. In point of fact, she was pretty sure getting out of it had been in no small part thanks to the outside influence of...the one for whom she worked.

At the very least, Izzie was relatively sure the steady stream of insults, curses, and all-round obscenity she had directed the entire time at the police in the process of arresting her (in three different languages, no less, which she was immensely proud of) had probably not helped to prove her innocence.

The path up ahead merged with another that ran parallel to the one Izzie was leisurely walking along--and not far ahead, the aforementioned 'runt producing the scent' came into vision. Her enhanced vision easily discerned his form from the enveloping folds of the drizzling darkness--and it struck her that this kid wasn't a thug. In point of fact, he was wearing what looked rather clearly like a football uniform (wait, they called that soccer here, didn't they...damn them Americans)--which, suffice to say, wasn't standard attire of the gangsters of Xibalba.

No sooner had Izzie come to this conclusion than the kid had turned his head over his shoulder, and looked right at Izzie. "Who's there?" he called out cautiously, her ears picking his voice apart from the thunderous din of death metal in her ears. "If you're following me, don't bother. I know how to defend myself and it's not worth your time..."

Izzie raised an eyebrow, reaching up to brush aside a drenched dreadlock of faded black from her face. 'Knows how to defend himself'? This kid's just asking to get his ass kicked by one of the thugs out and about around here... Izzie figured she probably should've called up something along the lines of 'I'm not following you, moron' but seeing as how freaked out the kid seemed to have gotten just from the fact that she was walking not far behind him, it gave her a bit of twisted amusement to put a scare in the kid.

Then, all of a sudden, he took off running, something falling from his hands as he began to run along--a ball. Izzie reached down, her fingers clasping onto the wet rubber of the checkered ball, before glancing up to see the kid's retreating back. "Hey," she called over, quickening her pace a bit. She knew how this went--she decided to put a scare in him, and then the damn kid took off and ran right into an actual gang. Well, hell if she needed that happening. Committing murder and mass destruction on a consistent basis did not mean she was in a hurry to let some kid get his ass kicked or worse (that logic made more sense the less she thought about it). But all she got in responce was a dreary sigh of "Who is it this time..."

"I'm not following you, estΓΊpido," she snapped, patience rapidly diminishing. "Fucking hell. You dropped your friggin' ball." She caught up with the kid, keeping her distance so that he didn't think she was trying to mug him and start fucking screaming or something. "Now stop running before you end up with your face being used for a punching bag by some brainless thug with nothing better to do." Once (if) the kid had calmed the fuck down, Izzie held the ball out with one hand, eyes falling on the kid. He was a good foot shorter than she was, and by the looks of him, pretty scrawny in build. Glasses, too, so he had kind of a nerd-geek look to him. In other words, the very definition of 'easy pickings' for most thugs out and about in Xibalba.

So she told him as much. "What in the hell are you doing 'round here anyway?" she gruffly inquired, voice tinged with an accent more or less indicative of her heritage. "This ain't best route for taking home from AYSO game, kid."

[[I used google translate for most of the Portuguese. So if you actually speak portuguese--forgive me for the abomination since it probably doesn't mean remotely what I intend, but if you put it into google translate, you'll get what I intended...so it works. As long as you don't actually speak Portuguese. And I'm pretty sure nobody needs a translator to figure out what 'estΓΊpido' means.]]

Adrian walked out of his house and yelled a hurried goodbye to his mother. He set out the door and caught the elevator moments before it closed, he looked at his watch. He was going to be late for class. He knew he was, he just knew. He tapped his feet quickly until the elevator stopped. He basically ran out of the apartment complex, he had money for the bus but he had missed that, the next one wouldn't come for a long time. The rain from the night before was still going and the wind was blowing all the water into his face. He started walking towards school, at least walking was faster than taking a car at this time of the day, not really but Adrian told himself that.
He arrived at school late and walked into a restroom instantly. He looked in the mirror, his brown hair had being messed up and his school uniform was soaked. He tidied up his hair slightly, before holding out his hands by his side and closing his eyes. 'come on...' He thought. He felt the water disappearing slowly and he suddenly stopped, because he started feeling the moisture from his skin disappearing also. He opened his eyes. He was as dry as a summer's day.
After class was finished Adrian caught the bus to his after school job in Horizon. He arrived right on time, for once. His boss looked up as he came in "Ah, so he arrives and blesses us with his presence." He says sarcastically. "There is new stock to be put out and then you can mind the front desk while I run errands, so do hurry up and get changed." His boss says and gets back to work. 'Yes sir...' Adrian thought.
After three hours of work it was time to walk to his mother's restaurant that was just two blocks away, he grabbed his bag and waved goodbye to his boss.
He arrived at the always busy restaurant to find his mother at the bar, serving drinks. "Hey, ma. What are you doing?" Adrian asked confused.
"Well, Kayla is away today so I had to fill in for her," she said, as she poured him a cold coke, with a splash of raspberry syrup. "There you go Murph," she said.
Adrian drank his favourite drink happily then got behind the counter, "I'll take over here and grab a taxi home," He said, "you were meant to finish now anyway, you work too hard." Annabelle kissed her son on the cheek, "that's what you do when you're the boss, you work hard." She says, "but you're right I could use the time," she went into the back room and grabbed her handbag, "okay don't forget 10 o'clock on the dot, I want you home." She says and walks out the door.

Shikei Karasu

Rain. It was raining right now. Heavy raindrops fell from the sky like teardrops of the heaven. The black bird gave a long, mournful shrilled sound and circled the graveyard. Unlike the other normal birds, it didn't mind the heavy rain for it came here for a reason. It landed gracefully on a tomb and preened his feathers carefully, its black eyes took in the scene in front of it like a person observing a beautiful but sad scene. The funeral was still happening despite the rain and it nodded its head, as if agreeing with the action. It flew to where the beautiful coffin laid and touched the wood thing silently with its head, paying the last respect to the dead. A few others saw it and attempted to shoo it but it didn't want to fly away. It still wanted to give its last words to the dead. It turned its head and gazed at the person - a fat man in a suit. The man flinched when he met its gaze and it nodded in satisfaction as the man stumbled then fell. Good! No one would be on its way when it was doing its job. If it could, it would be snorting its nose right now. The man would be dead soon and it would pay the man another visit really soon. Maybe next month or so. The gang killed him. Well, it couldn't say that it was not a fitting dead for the man was one of the most greedy men it had ever met but then again...it was human nature to be greedy.

Well, it didn't matter anymore. Its job was done here. It flew and landed on a nearby tree branch, waiting for the funeral to end so it could have some time alone with the dead. It didn't have to wait long as the funeral had already ended and the people were leaving. And so, they left, never once paid attention to the strange black raven.

The moment the last person left, the Raven of Death landed on the ground next to the newly-made tomb and transformed. It grew larger and larger, the wings shrank and on its spot soon knelt a rather handsome boy with long, black hair. He was wearing a white kimono, the one people often used in funeral and on his hips were two dangerous-looking swords. He had pale skin, which shone even paler under the rain, giving him a slightly ghost-ish appearance. He sighed and didn't even bother to find somewhere to hide as raindrops continued to pour down his bare head.

He touched the new tomb, the tips of his fingers traced the craved words gently and he let out a sigh. He muttered softly underneath his breaths "So young...yet you've died so early...poor soul" He sat next to the tomb and leaned against it. It was slowly raining more heavily but he didn't let himself be bothered by it. Well, it looked like the sky was crying for him today! His hair, dripping with water, was covering his eyes and he raised a hand to wipe the wet locks away from his eyes. He smiled at the stone tomb and spoke again "Welcome, Linda-san...My name is Shikei Karasu...you're lucky to be here...not many souls have the chance like you...this is a nice place to sleep..." The young man - Shikei tore his gaze away from the name 'Linda M. Jones' and looked at the sky. He whispered to the tomb "You know what, Linda? If...no, when I die, I want to be buried in this place, too...though I can't be near my family this way...you have any better ideas?..." He bit his bottom lip and looked away sadly again, like he had just realized the dead couldn't answer his question even if they wanted to. He raised his hand and chuckled as several raindrops fell into his opened palm "It's ironic, really...half of the time when I visit this place, it always rains...maybe the sky is crying for me after all..."

Shikei shook his head slightly and continued to talk to the tombs around him. He greeted them like an old friend "Konnichiwa gozaimasu, Eric-san, Bobby-san, Emily-san, Katherin-san...How are you? Have your families visited you yet?..." He looked at a tomb closely like he was listening to someone and he shook his head again after a while "...I'm sorry but I can't spend my life with you just yet, Dean-san...I still need to get my revenge and after that I may consider to move in with you guys...maybe...but I still need to take care of my parents and siblings..." He sat there in silence until the darkness began to take over the sky. Pushing himself back up with his hands, Shikei dusted his body and bowed to the tombs "I must go now...I'll come back and visit you later if I can...Jā, Shitsurei shimasu...."

He looked at the night sky and crouched down on his feet. Slowly, he, for the lack of better words, shrank and a pair of black wings grew on his back. Seconds later, a black raven was standing proudly on the spot where Shikei had just knelt. It looked at the tombs and gave another sound before flying away into the dark night. Its job was done here...It had just come and said 'hello' to the new soul and now it would be on its way again. It flapped its wings and soared into the sky...well, it could sense that someone would be dead very soon and it wanted to announce it for them so they could prepare themselves. Now where was Xibalba anyway? If it didn't hurry up, it might miss all the fun...With that thought in mind, the black raven sped up, its shadow soon disappeared into the night as well.

And once again, the graveyard was silent with nothing but the sound of the heavy rain behind. If only someone could see what just happened... but then again, Shikei Karasu was very careful and didn't leave tracks so people would know about his existence. Because after all, what kind of Raven would he be if he was so careless?

Terra was running across rooftops at such a speed that she would trip with the wrong step, and the rain wasn't helping with that at all. Fucking hell. I'm late! Was the only thought in her head. She had been out hitting the clubs with friends, need to relax after a hard dull day. Even practicing parkour and continuing honing her powers seemed a bit dull for some reason. So when her friends called her up to see if she wanted to hit up some over under 21 clubs, she happily agreed, figuring she could use a break from the normal. Now she was late getting home and the only short cut was through Xibalba, the Place of Fear. She did not like this and decided to move through the area as quickly, quietly, and unconventionally as possible to avoid drawing unwanted attention to herself.

Terra jumped onto a lower roofed building, sprinted across it quickly, and scaled down the fire escape to the ground below, techno music from her headphones filling her mind. She ran through dark back alleys silently except for the occasional plash of a puddle. Rounding a corner, she ran past a group of thugs a ways down a street. One of them shouted and they gave chase after her. She ran down another alley and was faced with a wall junk piled in front of her. There was a relatively small in the wall of abandoned and useless items that was just big enough for her to fit through. Hurtling though the hole and continuing onward to round a corner, she could hear the thugs climbing over the heap of unwanted junk as fast as they could. Spotting another fire escape, she quickly dashed to it and scrambled up to the roof. Terra started to head for her house in Highrise again, deciding it was much safer to stick to the rooftops as much as possible.

While running along the top of a two story build Terra looked and saw a group of people in the alley below. She didn't pay much attention to them though, not wanting to be any later than she was. She looked forward again to find the next place to head to and a gunshot sounded over her music, startling her and causing to slip in a puddle. "Shit!" She yelled in surprise as she tumbled forward, hit the roof hard and rolled off the side of building. She caught edge of the roof and tried to pull herself up, but her fingers slid off the wet edge and she fell with a small yelp. The next thing she knew, the gravel ground of the alley rose up in a small pillar to meet her half way. She hit the gravel pillar with a grunt and bounced off, hitting the ground hard and landing on her back, the pillar of small rocks and pebbles now gone. "Ow. That stung a bit," she said as she lifted her head and looked at the four other people in the alley, one of which was a corpse. "Oh crap...."

In the night of New Ithaca City, a ghost flew through the air. What was it doing, you might ask? Well, it was looking for problems to solve and pests to be purged. Why, you might also ask, was it not looking in Xibalba? Well, would you believe that the ghost was already there not too long ago? It left because the one problem it was going to fix had been solved by a gunshot. Having run out of things to do there, it decided to leave.

Also, call it crazy if you will but it also believed that it had the feeling that the universe was concentrating in that one location and it didn't want to feel like a conformist.

In any event, this ghost was now flying around Eden Park. In its recent past, it had come across plenty of stories and television shows. One pattern it had noticed was that a lot of problems seemed to happen in the park if nowhere else so it seemed like a good place to search. The ghost, however, did not come across any monsters or thugs or lost children or even a cat stuck in a tree. What it found was a companion soaring above at great speeds. Without much else to do, the ghost sped towards it.

Good evening, Sir Shikei, the ghost greeted as it flew alongside the raven, manifesting as a thin black gas. I was not aware that ravens were nocturnal. Unless you're a special case?

Matthew:

Matthew was still somewhat registering what just happened. He managed to say "thanks" and take his ball. He then also added "Well, i never take the same route twice, and i got lost. And i cant take the same route twice because someone is trying to,,,," he started, but then a flash of light from a gunshot blared into the dark background, barely revealing the barrel of a sniper rifle in the car behind Izzy. "Unless you have an enemy in a red car with a sniper rifle, i believe he is planning to shoot me. Thanks again, now excuse me, id rather not get shot. Unless he is aiming at you, which in that case, i think that's.....well, its definitely not a good idea....".

Now, Matthew's line of thinking clearly isn't linear. At least, he doesn't explain it that way.

But that's when he felt a....shift....or....some sort of energy......nearby. He didn't know why or how, he just did, as if someone just sent out a signal or something.

He began to move towards the closest solid object that would be between them at a fastish casual speed. Which, considering there was a big building about 3 feet away, wasnt hard. He took cover right as a bullet rang out, barely missing him.

He decided it would be best to get the hell out of there. You know, its the only logical conclusion....

Thats when Matthew turned the wrong corner, facing 5 other people, one of which was dead. "Ummm.....i think i took a wrong turn......il just head back the way i came....."

Alex:

Now, its time for Alex to raid the storage closet. You see, his dads business involved various weapons sometimes, such as automatic weapons and military grade tech. He opened the closet, and looked to see what he could use. He was determined to kill this person. The one thing he wants more then anything else in the universe is one kill away. Its something he has been deprived of forever.

Anyways, he looked through all the weapons. He didn't know the names, but he looked at them, and could figure out how they worked. All it was was pulling a trigger, and stuff. He took 3 assault rifles, 5 clips for each, and a revolver with 24 spare shots. Then, he got some spray painted all the guns blue. Then, he put them all in his backpack, except for the revolver, which he hid within a secret hidden pocket. Then he took the chocolate out of that pocket and ate it. Mmmmm, chocolate.....

Thats when Alex decided to go after this kid. Thats when he saw a blue box with a bow that said "From Dad". It was a tablet containing all the information on Matthew. And some other aps. Now Alex was really happy about this. This is the most he has ever done for Alex.

Darren stumbled down the path that ran through the park, surprisingly clear headed considering how much he had drunk. He had come here for a reason, he was pretty sure of that. The only trouble was in figuring out what that reason was. Darren stopped, and closed his eyes in concentration. Ok, he'd been at that crazy party that Ally had thrown at her dad's place in Highrise. The party was pumping, he'd had way too much to drink (hehehe, like there was such a thing as too much alcohol), and was getting cosy with some chick... Nikki? Rachel? Or was it that red-head... Jas-something? Eh, didn't matter. Anyway, Andy thought it would be a good idea to go for a surf (it wasn't, the waves were crap) so they rushed down to the beach, still in party clothes, the lack of boards not even occurring to them. After that? Hmm... well, after that Darren came here to do something. Oh yes! A smile spread across Darrens face as he realized what he was here to do, and he immediately set off. Unfortunately, his feet were less than enthusiastic about walking in a straight line, and the world was sent spinning as Darren stumbled and fell.

Darren frowned. Perhaps not so clear-headed after all... Nevertheless, he eventually managed to stagger his way deeper into the park, until he was sure no one was around to see what he was doing. He reached into his pocket to see what there was to screw around with. Phone? Nope, needed that.... Wallet? Nope, needed that... Keys? Actually, they would work really well... no, no he needed them too. Hang on. Darren pulled out his wallet again, reaching inside of it. He wasn't planning on using this anymore tonight, so why not? He pulled the condom out of his wallet, putting everything else back in his pockets.

Darren paused a moment, taking a deep breath to focus himself. He tried to steady his thoughts, to draw on the energy deep within himself. He'd need to focus those energies, to calm himself and reach a more balance state. These powers had to be taken seriously, they were dangerous. He'd have to make sure he used only as much as was neede- Screw that shit, just blast the stupid thing. Darren tossed the condom up in the air, then flung his hand out towards it.

An arc of electricity appeared between his hand and the condom, lighting up the area for but a second. The now shrivelled little black piece of rubber fell to the ground somewhere, a smoking trail wafting gently off it. Darren grinned, pleased that he'd hit the condom. His precision was getting better. Not that the alcohol was helping much. He shot off a small spark, just so he could see where the condom had fallen. After he spotted it, he splayed his hand again, this time intent on decimating the rubber. A large flash lit up the area, and the condom was no more. In it's place was a small, smouldering crater, and the smell of ozone. Darren looked up, checking to see if there were any storm clouds out and about. But alas, not a one. Oh well. I suppose if there's no lightning ready to strike, I'll just have to make my own.

This time Darren paused for a moment to gather his energy, but could feel it slipping away even as he hoarded it to him. Shit, I'm already on a down-swing. Better make this last one count. Darren shoved both hands towards the sky, opening them wide as a pillar of electricity shot up from him, splitting the sky as the savage crack of thunder pealed out across the city. The sky was lit up for a moment, and above him Darren saw a fat, black bird illuminated a little too close to the lightning bolt for it's comfort. A raven or something. Ah! That was the girl from the parties name! Raven!

No no, that wasn't it... Jessica?

Shikei Karasu

The gunshot had ended the problem and it made a noise which sounded surprising like a huff. Well, its fun had been snatched away from its hands...or tailors...again. It seethed silently, didn't even bother to cover its track any longer. Well, it wasn't everyday it had some fun and now the fun had ended just like that?! It wanted to witness the moment when the soul left the body. It turned its head and frowned slightly as it sensed another being sped up after it. The being was like it...but at the same time, it was different. It turned its head and watched as the black-smoke-like being came nearer and nearer to it. It deemed the being was friendly enough and so, it slowed down slightly, allowed the being to catch up with it.

Good evening, Sir Shikei... I was not aware that ravens were nocturnal. Unless you're a special case?

The Raven of Death gave a humorless chuckle and it slowed down even more. It nodded its head and gave a shrill scream that could be roughly translated into something like "Konbanwa gozaimasu, Jesus-san...It has been a long time since I saw you..." It cleared its throat and willed itself to transform its vocal voice into its half-demon form. It spoke once again, its voice turned more human "You have not changed since the last time, Jesus-san..." It replied nonchalantly, ignored the 'raven comment' "...Jesus-san...what are you doing here?...not for casualties, I suppose?..."

A lightning shot through the sky and it narrowly avoided the attack. It cried out in its usual high-pitched voice and looked down to see who had done that. Its eyes actually widened in surprise as it saw the person's aura. It was unlike everything it had seen before. It flapped its wings in annoyance as some flashes of the person's past appeared in front of its eyes but it didn't pay attention to any of it. It only paid attention to the person's death and the person's aura. His aura was almost like...like Chaos-sama's aura!

It stopped flying completely and flapped its wings, eyeing the human again. It was completely sure about this. This was chaos-sama's aura...maybe this one was a...a piece that had awakened? It shook its head with disbelief but couldn't deny what was happening in front of its eyes. It gave the smoky being - Jesus a glance and flew down to land on the boy's shoulder, its sharp tailors tore the human boy's shoulder slightly but it controlled them so they would only cause the boy a slight discomfort.

Peering at the boy with its black eyes, it whispered in a demonic tone "Look what I've got here...are you in there, Chaos-sama?..." It glanced briefly at Jesus but then turned its focus on the boy again.

"Thanks," the kid muttered, grabbing the ball from her before answering. "Well, I never take the same route twice, and I got lost. And I can't take the same route twice because someone is trying to..."

You know, I just realised there's someone behind me.

Izzie noted it was though she were merely take note of the time of day, just before a resounding crack announced the discharge of a bullet. Judging by the sheer volume of the shot, the gun being used to fire it was a sniper rifle of some kind. A sniper rifle? she couldn't help but mock. At this range? Really? What is this shit? And on that note, since when did the low-life thugs of Xibalba carry around fucking military-grade sniper rifles? And for another, since when did Izzie give a fuck? The scent had been there--she'd noticed it. And disregarded it. Sometimes that tendency could get to her--but then, what with the precedent the thugs around Xibalba set, she typically could disregard a scent without having to worry about suffering consequences for it. The worst the thugs could do to her didn't so much as amount to a light bruise or a scrape.

The bullet whizzed past Izzie, missing both her and the kid, attesting to the probability that whoever was not only firing a sniper rifle at point-blank range but missing as well with it was probably high off his ass on something, or straight up mentally retarded. Well, there goes my happy little evening out and about. The woman shook her head and stepped forward towards the crimson sedan, in which whatever wannabe sniper was stumbling trying to pull back the bolt action on the rifle (whose barrel was still shoved out the open window, go figure). Upon seeing a towering, well-built woman striding slowly towards the car as though with the intent of rebuking the sniper for nearly hurting someone. She saw a wide smirk pasted across his face as he opened his mouth to speak. "Bitch, what do you think y--"

"Normally I'd be all for violently decimating this car and everyone in it," Izzie cut across him irately, grabbing the rifle out of his hands roughly and proceeding to slowly bend the malleable metal of the gun's barrel until it was parallel with the rest of the rifle. "But right now, rather not make a scene and attract unneeded attention. Which is a pity, because murdering you brutally would be doing world a favour. And pretty damn fun for me." Instead, she merely shrugged, tossing aside the ruined sniper rifle. Then she bent down, hands hooking on to the bottom of the car next to each wheel, and with a mild effort turned the car right over onto its roof.

A stream of assorted shouted curses and panicked yells followed as the two dumbasses in the car struggled to get out of it. Izzie didn't know if they succeeded because she was already well on her way to turning around and walking away. Y'know, bend the sniper rifle in half casually, nonchalantly flip the car over on its roof, turn and walk away without even looking like a total badass. Didn't feel quite as nice as it would've if she'd picked the goddamn car up and hurtled it like a missile at...fuck if she knew, something. But predictably, that'd attract the attention of a bunch of other jackass thugs. Or maybe opposing gangs. Or maybe the police--limited though their presence was in this part of town, when last Izzie recalled, they noticed when someone threw a car in Xibalba. Well, at the very least, they'd noticed last time.

Funny how the police only manage to start doing their job when they see someone doing it for them, she mused darkly. It had been exactly the same way in the favelas when she'd been growing up--the same way the police simply let the gangs fester in the shanties much like they did here. And the second anyone started doing something about it, the police set to work hunting down 'a dangerous and hostile vigilante'. She scowled--it disgusted her. Always had. But it was going to change. Soon, it wasn't going to matter. Order's downfall would usher in a new era where things like this were no concern at all...

She merely sighed, and reached into the inner pockets of her jacket to retrieve the pack of cigarettes--cursing as she realised how light it had gotten. Opening it up revealed only three left. Scowl intensifying, she placed one in her lips, and struck a match, cupping it in her hand and bringing it to bear upon the end of the cigarette before waving the flame out and tossing the spent matchstick aside.

Soon it would change--yes. Did it really matter how the change was brought about if it was worth it in the end?

Worth it to everyone involved, and worth it to Izzie.

Syd Lastern

Things were starting to get much to over complicated, and Syd's patience was wearing ever more thin. The rain wasn't letting up, and was going to soak his groceries and the Deck's booze if he didn't get moving soon, but all the people converging on one damned spot was starting to get fricking ridiculous. Syd's mind was starting to get jumbled, so he started in chronological order to try to put the pieces together on what the hell was going on.

After he shot the man and the rest of the rapists left, he turned towards the girl that he apparently just saved. In the dim light, he could make out her small frame, and long hair that looked awfully familiar. For a second, a flicker of another girl appeared beside the girl he just saved, reminding him of why she looked familiar.Alicia... His mind wandered for a little bit, until it clamped down on the harsh, cruel reality. Alicia was dead, and this wasn't her. Just some cheap lookalike. He narrowed his eyes as he looked at her, then caught a flicker of movement near the back of the alleyway behind a trash can. His eyes normally could pick up all light in the area, but around the trashcan was eerily dark. He still didn't like true darkness very much, and gave him a slight shiver before turning his full attention to whatever was behind the trash can.

"If anybody is back there, speak now-" He was cut off by the ground suddenly becoming a cylinder upwards and he backed away startled as a girl fell onto the pillar and onto the ground. He gave a sigh of exasperation, pushing the phenomenon he had just seen (the ground just fucking moved!!!) into the back of his mind and aimed his pistol at the girl. "Look, I don't care who the hell you are, or what just happened, but it would probably be best if you just moved along from here and left. I have work to do, and people to see, and have NO time to be dealing with teenagers falling from the sky and such." He still had to deal with that dead body over there, but his mind was now divided. 2 teenaged women - he wasn't that much older himself, but was still now an adult - and possibly a third person hiding behind a trash can. Was Xilalba somehow becoming 'the' place to be for random teenagers, or was it just his bad luck today?!

Syd made his way over to the body, and knelt down to it as the rain now poured over his collar. He was getting soaked, but he would solve that minor problem later. Normally he would just stand up, grab the body, shove it in a trash can and clear everything of the evidence. The rain was doing the latter for him, but he still stayed hesitant. Why? Was it because of these people? True, most normal people, teens especially, avoided his hometown of Xibalba like the plague, as they should. Yet here were 2, with a possible third person. He sighed, and stood back up.

"This isn't the place where you guys should be hanging around. If you had half a brain, you would be running out of here."

Just as he finished his sentence, low and behold a fourth person ran around the corner, and mumbled out something about taking a wrong turn, but Syd wasn't having any of it. Naturally instinctual, his left hand pulled out his second pistol, and while still aiming it at the girl on the ground now had a pistol aimed straight for this random kid's forehead.

"I don't know who the fuck you are, or why ANY of you are hanging around Xibalba, but right now I don't care. If you want to live, leave. If you want to get raped, shot, tortured, and otherwise brutalized, then go find somebody else to do it for you. If you aren't paying for my services, you aren't needed.." His patience was slim to none as he snarled out the words. This wasn't the thrill ride he was hoping for today at all. He always loved the thrill of the chase, or of dares, but dealing with 4 average citizens in the night? Nope. This was turning into the worst night of his life.

If only he knew that fate was bringing the 6 seals together, he might be more interested. Yeah right.

"Wha?" Darren stared warily at the raven, confusion written across his face. He glanced around to see where the voice had come from, and who was talking to him. But no one else was there. He stared at the raven again, unsure what to make of the situation. It appeared that he had settled on waiting to see what the bird would do next, but then a change came over him. His eyes focused, the slackness in his jaw disappearing with his unsteadiness. The drunken sway that unsteadiness him earlier was gone, and he stood tall and strong. He studied the bird, his intense gaze committing to memory what he saw before him. This bird knew something. That made it important.

"Chaos-sama is in here, but I'm afraid you can't speak to him right now. I'm in charge here." He carefully observed the birds expression, trying to read it's thoughts based on it's reaction. This would be much easier if it wasn't a raven. His eyes flickered over to another figure that appeared by the bird, a patch of smoky blackness in the already dark night. Normally he wouldn't have even noticed it, but somehow.. he could feel it's presence there. He could sense the raven too.

Darren's eyes focused back on the raven, unsure if the other presence could speak. "I've answered one question. Now it's your turn. Who are the two of you? What do you know of Chaos?"

Jesus rose an eyebrow. Actually, it didn't because it didn't have even one eyebrow but the sensation was there and it'd do just that if it had eyebrows. How did this man... no, not a man... How did he know he was there? Black smoke is not exactly easy to spot in the dark of the night and it wasn't trying to get noticed. Jesus disregarded this questions (although it does want answers in the near future) and manifested as a man-shaped collection of smoke in front of the man. It looked like a silhouette of a wizard now.

Good evening to you, sir, Jesus greeted as it took a bow. I go by the name of "Jesus". My compatriot... it is not my business to say his name. We follow Chaos, acting as its eyes and ears in New Ithaca City. He looked at Shikei... apparently. My friend, do you have any questions?

Shikei Karasu

"wha" The human boy's drunken voice made it rethink of its decision. What if it was wrong? What if this was really just a normal boy? The Chaos it knew wasn't a drunk, it was sure of that little fact. But when the boy stopped stumbling and his eyes became more focused, it knew it had made the right choice. It could see it. In the intense gaze the boy was giving him, there was something of Chaos-sama in it, deep in it. The boy stood taller and prouder. He opened his mouth to speak to it. "Chaos-sama is in here, but I'm afraid you can't speak to him right now. I'm in charge here." It nodded its head in satisfaction. Well, the boy's answer had explained many things to it. It cocked its head to one side as the boy opened his mouth to ask again. "I've answered one question. Now it's your turn. Who are the two of you? What do you know of Chaos?" It smirked. The boy wanted to play? Well, it would play games with the boy then.

It landed on the ground in front of it. It looked around. No one was here. That was good. It could transform freely then. It closed its eyes in concentration. Its wings grew larger and larger as well as his whole body and seconds later, Shikei Karasu in his half-demon form was kneeling in front of the piece of Chaos. He looked up, his red eyes observed the boy carefully as if they didn't want to miss a single detail. Slowly, he stood up from his kneeling position, his eyes shifted from the boy to Jesus as the being answered the boy's question. "I go by the name of "Jesus". My compatriot... it is not my business to say his name. We follow Chaos, acting as its eyes and ears in New Ithaca City." He snorted his nose. The smoky being was too easy to give away information...what if this piece betrayed Chaos-sama? He shrugged his shoulder...he had to go along with them now, he guessed. He gave a barely noticeable smirk and answered in a quiet voice "I am now called Shikei Karasu...I used to go by the title 'the Raven of Death' and like Jesus-san told you...we serve Chaos-sama..." He looked at his twin swords, now had combined into one, and the tips of his fingers traced the swords slightly as he spoke without looking up "...and I will not answer your second question because we have already given you two answers while you only give us one...you will have to answer three questions next to have your answers to your second question as well as being able to ask another question then..." He looked up with sharp, calculated eyes. Gazing at Jesus, he asked, his voice was slightly above a whisper but in the dark night, his voice traveled in the empty park and echoed like a ghost "How long have you known about Chaos-sama? What kind of state is Chaos-sama in and by asking this, I mean is Chaos-sama awakened yet? Or is he still sleeping and you just only tap in his power? And last question..." Shikei gave a short pause and tapped his cheek, appeared to be deep in thought. Finally, he spoke, his eyes had a glint of dark, cold humor "...and have he tried to contact you via talking in your mind or by other means yet?"

So the smoke could talk. Not only that, but it calls itself Jesus. Interesting. The raven-man whatever also had a name. Shikei Karasu. It quickly became apparent that Darren would get more information by talking to Jesus. He was more relaxed, open, while Shikei seemed cautious and suspicious. Not that Darren blamed him right now. He couldn't say he was feeling particularly trusting of raven either. He narrowed his eyes, searching for some hidden danger in the information being asked of him. Finding none, he spoke.

"Exactly how long I've known of Chaos makes little difference, only that I've known of him for a while. What matters is that I know of him. And oh yes, he is very much awake. If he could, he'd be speaking to you now. As to whether he's tried to contact me, I think that other means would be a more fitting description. He tried to speak to my mind, but was unable to. All his attempts were reduced to jumbled whispers, meaningless pictures and half-formed thoughts. I know not why. When he found himself barely able to reach me, it frustrated him. No matter what he did, he get through to me. So, rather than attempt to leak through to me, he tried to rush my mind. Threw himself at me fully- well, the piece of him in here anyway- to crush my mind underfoot and take my body as his own. He failed. Once again, I know not why or how. One would think Chaos would easily overthrow me. But he didn't. I am still here, the power of the piece is still here, and what's left of it's mind can do little to stop me using it.

Now, your turn again. Jesus, you told me that you are the eyes and ears of Chaos. So tell me, what is your purpose? What are you here for? What is it about Ithica city that Chaos has deployed two of it's servants here searching - for what? And - my second question - What are the two of you?"

Jesus found himself pondering. Chaos could not overcome this boy's mind? Was this a matter of like being unable to defeat like or was this... boy something more than human? This warranted investigation.

Forgive me, but I do not believe I am at liberty to answer such a question as your first. You may use such information to sabotage us. The ghost bowed. Do not take this personally; we simply wish to be cautious. I imagine you would do the same. As for what I am... Call me what you will. I have been called a demon, a ghost, a sign, a blessing, a curse and so many other names. I have even been given the name Jesus. In the end, it is all irrelevant; I simply am.

Her heart thumped in her chest, as the rain continued to pelt her exposed flesh, she was still cornered against a chain link fence in an alleyway within the confines of Xibalba. Vincente just had to be right about not coming with her, didn’t he. . . ? Why, why did he have to always be right? Chilled to her very bones from the cold rain and from the feat that was gnawing away at her bones, Nicoletta just stared at the men before her with her eyes wide, feeling tears build up upon the rims of her eyes. If there was no rain, she could just scare these guys. . . . It would be so easy. While she was shaking, Nicoletta began to push herself back into the fence behind her as much as she could, until the barrier between her and freedom would give no more. The terror within her body seemed to slow everything down; time itself seemed to move like molasses. God, how she just wished that whatever was going to happen to her, would happen. . . . The clattering of a trashcan lid nearby rattled Nicoletta from her terror induced thoughts and world, and caused her to cast her gaze to the side, to a part of the alleyway she could not make out.

There wasn’t enough light to see what had done thatβ€”animal or something else. Not having enough time to even question the sound properly, the sound of rhythmic footfalls hit Nicoletta’s ears, footsteps that were coming into the mouth of the alley. Her grey eyes she quickly looked from the trashcan and discarded lid and toward the source of the noise. Not another one, please. she whimpered softly, trying to push herself back into the fence more and more. But . . . there was a noise that sent a chill through Nicoletta’s body, more so than the men before her, who had chased her down into the alley. It brought forth a familiar and unpleasant memory that made her nauseous. The familiar click of a pistol being prepped for firing . . . the day Vincente had been shot.

Vision blurring at the memory, body freezing in place as Nicoletta remembered, the girl could only dully acknowledge the fact that the new person who had entered the alley was now aiming something at head of the man looming above her directly, the one who had his hand on the fence over her head. She heard him speak over the soaking rain, "Look fellas. Not tonight, alright? I want to sleep a little. So run along now."

Trying to help me? she thought meekly, tremors running through her body as the man before her released the fence, and turned on his heel to look at who ever would be daring to give him an order . . . he even began to laugh despite having a gun held to his head. And with no warning . . . there was a bang. A familiar noise that caused Nicoletta to shriek, and her body to so violently react that she fell to the ground, covering her head as she began to shake violently. Gunshot, th-that was a gunshot-! He shot him, he shot him right through! Nicoletta realized, letting out a noiseless whine as she held onto her head tightly, her eyes wide and full of fear, memories, things she didn’t want to relive. Someone getting shot meant blood, it meant death, danger, loos of life!! It made her remember, it made her remember Vincente getting hurt, coming to save her beforeβ€”the memory of him being shot through the chest played through her mind, causing Nicoletta to begin breathing hastily, forgetting about where she now was and about the cold rain which utterly left her form sodden.

"I'm not asking again. We of the Deck don't take kindly to people who don't listen. So eff off." The gunman spoke again, causing Nicoletta to look up quickly, eyes wide, hands still clasped onto the sides of her head. He pointed the pistol at another of the men, who quickly ran passed him and out of the alleyway, the gunman who might have just saved her watched them cower away and just leave. Eyes never leaving him, nothing but pure and utter fear coursing through her bodyβ€”Nicoletta felt heat rushing into her hands, a self-defense mechanism she had no control over. "Man, this guy isn't gunna be an easy one to get rid of..." he muttered quietly, just staring at the man he’d just killed.

Nicoletta found her vision blurring in and out again, ears beginning to ring as if it felt parts of her body just began to go utterly numbβ€”she swore she was starting to taste bile in the back of her throat. How? How could he be so cavalier about murdering a person? Even . . . if the man hadn’t been the best of people, he was still a person, a life. . . . He was a someone, right? He’s done this before, many times before. Nicoletta realized, fighting off the bitter urge to vomit then and there from it. Her blood felt like ice in her veins, though warmth was spreading through her skin with every solemn beat of her heart. For the sake of my life, one was lost. she thought, shutting her eyes. Her arms went limp at this, falling to her sides as she let go of her skull, body beginning to feel hot. Biting down on her lower lip, Nicoletta clutched onto the fence behind her and forced herself to stand back to her feet.

Her body shook and quivered to the extent of causing the chain link behind her to rattle. What was she suppose to do. . . ? Opening her eyes, she looked at the man before her, just as someone managed to tumble right into the alley out of the sky above. Nicoletta had managed to miss the formation of a small pillar, and just opened her eyes to see the woman hit the pavement below. ”Ow. That stung a bit.” she commented, before looking around and realizing that she was caught in a rather unpleasant scene, ”Oh crap….”

The fire charming Nicoletta looked at her with trepidation in her steel colored eyes. However, she had just fallen from the sky; it didn’t matter, not at all. What was of the utmost importance was the fact that she had just tumbled into the scene of a murder with a very dangerous person before her, and Nicoletta was near powerless in the rain. Get out of here, now. . . . Nicoletta thought, wishing she had telepathy so she could warn the woman to flee, as soon as possible.

Just as that thought left her mind, the pistol was aimed at her, causing Nicoletta to look over in alarm with a quiet gasp. "Look, I don't care who the hell you are, or what just happened, but it would probably be best if you just moved along from here and left. I have work to do, and people to see, and have NO time to be dealing with teenagers falling from the sky and such." He went on rather dryly, so calmly. . . . "This isn't the place where you guys should be hanging around. If you had half a brain, you would be running out of here."

Nicoletta’s expression transfixed upon him, and turned from a look of uncertainty, and into a dead on glare . . . while her heart was still beating wildly enough within her chest, it was now pounding away for a reason beyond that of fear. The small girl’s body shook beyond terror, moving passed the clutches her memories had on her and slowly melted into cold anger. Anger was beginning to eat away at her bones at him . . . for the fact he had murdered someone, and for the fact that he was now aiming his gun without much care at someone who had just shown up from nowhere. That apathy. . . . Where does he get off. . . ? she mentally seethed, her jaw tensing up greatly, as her hands began to clutch onto fence behind her too tightly.

Rain still coming down as heavy as before, Nicoletta still felt heat rushing to her handsβ€”and she wondered what it was, was it her fire? Even with her body so waterlogged, clothing and hair sticking to her, was her anger enough to fuel her fire into existence, even in the rain? If it was, then maybe she could do something after all. . . .

Then, there were more footsteps, lighter ones than the man before her, and suddenly a boy turned into the mouth of the alley "Ummm.....i think i took a wrong turn......il just head back the way i came....." he mumbled out, obviously startled by the scene before him . . . and just as quickly; a gun was aimed at him as well. The hell?! Was this guy trigger happy or something?

"I don't know who the fuck you are, or why ANY of you are hanging around Xibalba, but right now I don't care. If you want to live, leave. If you want to get raped, shot, tortured, and otherwise brutalized, then go find somebody else to do it for you. If you aren't paying for my services, you aren't needed.." Those words were enough for her, and with that last word leaving the man’s mouth, the heat in Nicoletta’s hands became too much for the metal fence behind her to handle . . . and the firm grip she had upon it caused it to suddenly snap, she having heated it up enough to leave it brittle enough to be broken by her weak hold. The sound of it echoed throughout the now quiet alleyway, sounding out above the beating of the rain.

The blonde girl had her head cast downward, eyes hidden from view by her rather sodden bangs as she did her best to quell the anger boiling in her blood at the moment. Rationality, she needed some semblance of rationality to deal with this. She had to try to be as calm as possible, for the sakes of the strange girl and the boy. Drawing her hands out from behind her, Nicoletta could not soothe the heat coursing through her body as she found herself not only fuelled by the carelessness of the man before her, but also of events in her past which rendered her and her brother living on their own, leaving them in this giant city in the first place. Damn it all, she thought as she let out a rather harsh seethe. From mortal terror to potentially fear inducing anger in only a couple of minutes flatβ€”that was probably a new record for her.

She looked up, her eyes almost reflecting a sort of inner fire that lay within the depths of her, and without hesitating, she opened her mouth up and spoke, β€œWhat the hell is wrong with you?” Nicoletta spoke, her voice terse and coming out sounding almost forced, β€œAre you trigger happy or something? It’s obvious by your overly lax mannerisms in regard to the man you just murdered that you are no stranger to killing, but where do you get off by aiming pistols at people?!” she shouted at him, pointing to the man who was now laying cold, before pointing back to him.

Tears of anger filled Nicoletta’s eyes suddenly as she brought her hand back to her side, β€œI don’t know why you bothered to come in and save me, or whatever you were doing . . . what the hell is someone suppose to think about you anyway?! You go and help a person in distress, but then you kill another person, and now you’re going and threatening people who haven’t done a damn thing. Even if I don’t belong in Xibalba, I know that has to be considered idiotic here. So put the freaking guns AWAY!” By the time she finished her little tangent, Nicoletta’s cheeks had turned rather red, and she had her first balled up at her sides, there was no trace of the cowering girl from before it seemed.

Only later would she come to realize how very stupid she was, yelling at someone who was carrying firearms. . . .

Shikei Karasu

Shikei looked at the boy with calculated eyes as he answered their questions, his interest in the boy suddenly picked up a few more notches. So, Chaos-sama couldn't posses this one? And he had already been able to tap into his power and force it to serve him? That was no easy feat, and even more impressive considered that he had beaten the Chaos in his own game even if the fragment of soul inside him was probably just a small piece. He nodded his head slowly, carefully measured his next words as the boy asked them back.

Smirking cruelly at the boy and Jesus, Shikei was secretly pleased that the spirit refused to answer his question. Well, ironically, if this one had decided to ask him that, he would have had answer it. But it didn't matter now, the question wasn't directly at him and Shikei felt no need to answer it. He ran a hand through his wet hair and decided to answer the boy's second question "hmmm? What are we, you ask?...I used to be a human...or at least, I used to consider myself a human...not any more...I guess, according to human terms, you can call me a 'fallen angel'..." He snorted his nose and continued "...of course, I guess 'demon' or 'a curse' will be a better term to describe me..." He looked at the empty park and then muttered, mostly to himself "Another soul has just left this world...what a cruel world it is, don't you think so?...each minute, there will be people dying...'perfect world'...there is no such thing as a perfect world..." He gazed at the boy and asked, his voice became focused again "Alright...next question...to what extend can you control your power? And what is your power?..." He closed his eyes briefly and then opened it again "Of course, I...we mean no harm in asking about that...after all, I just want to identify which piece is inside you...for you see...each piece has a different power..."

Then Shakura left Meld and entered in the world of Astral, but he could clearly see and hear them."I hope they won't sense me." Shakura was terrorised by what he heard and returned to his body.He stops and starts thinking "Should I get in and try to talk or should I stay out of this?"Then Shakura decided to play a little game and step in."Hey!" he shouted and stepped in."Who are you people?I heard everything!"he shouted bravely but on the inside he was scared like hell.

Jesus turned to look at the intruder who was either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid to confront three entities with paranormal abilities and loudly declare that they "heard everything". In all its years, Jesus had yet to find a single person who was that stupid unless they were demigods or equally powerful. Still, if this boy overheard all of this, it could not sit idly by while the boy does whatever.

So you say. At once, Jesus dispersed and rushed into the boy's body, intent on binding his arms and legs via possession. Should the boy have some innate resistance (which was highly unlikely), this unexpected action should catch the boy off guard and make the possession more successful.

Darren Ambroso

Jesus's reply irritated Darren somewhat, though it didn't show on his face. Shikei at least answered, though he too was vague and uninformative. However, he couldn't blame them either. After all, it's not like he's willing to let them know everything about him either. Wouldn't want to be hypocritical, now would we?

"I'm afraid that the extent of my control is rather sensitive information. However, as to what my powers are, I see no reason to hide them from you. After all, you already saw what it was-" It was at that moment that the impudent boy burst in on them, claiming to have heard everything. An insidious grin spread across Darren's face.

"Well gentlemen, we're in luck. Just as I need something to demonstrate my powers on, this boy rushes in and volunteers himself." Darren lifted his right hand, lightning jumping and crackling around it. "Nothing personal kid, but we can't have any witnesses. Standard procedure for strange people with strange powers holding meetings in the middle of the night. I'm sure you understand." Darren opened his hand, willing his lightning to incinerate the boy where he stood, but paused. There was something not quite right about this boy. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but it was like the aura he was receiving from Shikei and Jesus. Inside of him the piece of Chaos was seething, trying to scream out to something to help it escape. Shush now. None of that.

"Before I smite the kid, are either of you sensing something strange about him?"
