a character in “The Future is Wild.”, as played by CriminalMinds

Description

Name: Essie
Age: 18
Looks: Long red hair, green eyes, fair skin. 5'4. Has good genetics.
Slave/Soldier: Slave
Mated/Unmated: Umated, will be mated.

Essie is the perfect slave - well when it comes to mindless, brainwashed drones. She'll do anything and everything as long as it's given from someone superior to her, and it follows the rules she knows. She's dreamed of the day she's getting mated like most girls in slave quarters, hoping that against the odds she'll be paired with someone that loves her. She's dreamed of freedom but would never dare follow the possibility. She's clumsy though and often a daydreamer that causes her to get things mixed up and wrong and then in turn leads to her punishment.

She has a twin brother called Emmett. He's a soldier.

When she was ten and first entered the slave system she was defiant enough to try and get her own way. An hour of been whipped broke her though and she's never stepped out of line since.

So begins...

Auditorium - 0900 hrs

Things were getting underway for the next mating call. Soldiers had been called to the auditorium, given a seat and asked to wait. Technician's input data into a massive computer system while the slaves finished getting prepared. After that they were all brought on stage. Every slave was dressed in a white gown, much like a wedding dress. Then again, this was like a wedding or as close as it could get in this day and age. One thing was simple.

Women were not equal to men. Slaves were slaves. Soldiers were superior.

The all stood in a line. Each with a number. Essie's was number 29. Anina would find her number as 14, Sam would find her number as 6. The numbers were selected randomly as slaves found themselves called out and paired with a soldier who would come on stage and collect them. They would then be taken back stage where the paperwork would be completed, a microchip would be injected just behind the right ear which contained a tracker and the soldier's details should a slave decide to be stupid and try to run away.

Finally number 14 was called. Anina, if not pushed herself, would find that a guard would push her out on the stage so everyone knew what slave was being chosen. Then the wait came while the soldier was chosen.

Robert Olsen

An advisor to the Commander. It was time for him to come up and take his slave and then move in to their new quarters once the paperwork was complete. He should have been at a meeting this morning with the Commander, but because mating was so important he'd been excused from the meeting.

Not long later, number 6 was called. Sam Collins was made to move forward if she didn't move herself. Her mate was then called. Emmett. The soldier, with red hair and green eyes stood and came towards her. He looked cold and acted indifferent to what was happening. He just took her arm and started to lead her off the stage and out the back. Emmett would change his persona once they were away from authority. But for now, he had no choice but to act like the assholes most soldiers seemed to become.

And then there was Essie, number 29 finally called. Her soldier's name was shortly called. Kaelen Winters. A guard had had to push Essie at first. She'd been so lost in remembering rules and laws and panicking over been the perfect mate that she hadn't heard her number get called. She waited until her mate had come and got her, completely having missed his name, not that it mattered. She'd only call him sir. And off they went to out-processing and then finally they could go to their new quarters.

And soon after, the mating for that day had been done.

Sam's heart pounded.
Alright, this is it.
She thought. Two others stood next to her, with the numbers 29, and 14. Sam had the number 6. Oh, how she hoped to be picked. She'd been wanting a mate for years. Sam was a bit tired of getting whipped by that Gray everyday.

14.

The number echoed through the room. A woman came forward. Soon, another number was called. Sam smirked, and walked forward. The number was 6, her number.

A redheaded soldier came up, and grabbed her by the arm. He dragged her out the back door.

"You've got a tough grip,"

She remarked, trying to keep up.

Booted feet sounded loudly on the steps up to the stage, and collectively many of the slaves in the room skipped a breath as a blonde uniformed figure strode across towards the other officers who were overseeing the assignment process. General Gray, the hated and feared advisor to the base's Commander on matters concerning the slaves, took up a position at the back, her steely gaze sweeping across the room.

In one hand she gripped a small rod that was reminiscent of a cattle-prod - and used for much the same purpose - a device that's painful sting would be familiar to many in the room.

As soldiers and girls were led onto the stage, the General watched without any noticeable display of emotion. She would see to it that the slaves did not step out of line, but for the moment all that was required was observation. The cold woman noted the smirk on number six's face as she moved forwards. An unbroken spirit, it seemed. Perhaps she would speak to the girl's new mate later, to see about that.

Anina Nell

In truth, Anina was terrified when they had called her number. She hated the fact that she was born woman but hid it well behind a blank face. She refused to give these people a reason to annoy her so soon.

The people decided to put something inside her skull just behind her ear like a dog and then let her free. Even though she knew she wasn't free. She still had a mate who would be in charge of bossing her around and forcing her to do things she would more than likely refuse to do out of pride.

She was put back in line and then a girl with the number 6 was called. She was already starting to rebel... That much was obvious.
Didn't she have any sort of pride?

Kaelen Winters

The young man stood silently, watching the mating call go on until finally, his name was called. He was of age and had 'perfect genetics', So he was expected to take a mate. Of course by now people already knew what kind of mate he'd be,his reputation for heartlessness and brutality were far known. He barely looked at his assigned mate as he took to the stage to collect her, turning in a uniform fashion and walking off to out-processing without so much as a glimpse over his shoulder. He waited almost patiently as the paper work was filled in,filed and the chip was placed. Tapping his foot by the end as if he had more important thing's to do. The out-processing workers looked nervous as his tapping increased, hurrying up the process so that it finished as fast as possible. Kaelen scoffed and walked off, expecting his mate to follow him to their quarters.

Once they arrived they would see quarters that were above the average soldiers, rewards and equipment gained from work in the Technology Branch and eventually the Secret Service. He had designed it to have it's own personal flair, rather then the uniform look of other soldiers rooms, albeit it was obviously a man's home and not a family place and so he already knew just were to sit to be comfortable. Now that he was comfortable he kicked off his boot's and waited for the door to close,a sign he could speak freely.

"So.....You're my mate then?,Any opinion's on me?,Objections, thing's I could approve? I apologize for the rather large stick shoved in my rear but you know how soldiers are. I have a reputation to uphold if you're going to be safe and happy here. We don't even have to mate if you don't want to,I have a few strings I can yank at I think ,so,it's all up to you." He said rather bluntly, his cold demeanor suddenly wiped from his body and replaced with a rather relaxed and accommodating man,it was almost as if he'd traded places with another person. Kaelen leaned back in his chair and smiled kindly, something he rarely practiced.

Living Quarters - Essie and Kaelen

Essie hadn't made a wrong move in the slightest once she was paired with Kaelen. She hadn't objected to their mating, she'd followed him to the outprocessing back room. She'd not cried or made a sound as the chip was inserted into her neck behind her right ear. No. She'd been the perfect mate.

She hadn't spoken a word. Not even as they moved into their quarters did she speak. No. She stayed completely silent. Her new mate terrified her. She listened to his words and suddenly she felt inadequate, useless. She was his mate. He wasn't pleased with her. She was a disappointment. She needed to impress him. She needed to show him that she could be good at her job. She didn't know what to say. In their quarters though lay a manila folder, already placed there detailing everything about Essie's life for Kaelen. Everything was documented. Her scores, her genetics, her tests, the advantages and disadvantages, her strengths and weaknesses, her faults.

"I...I...I..." She faultered because of the barrage of questions. "I'm good at my job." But he might not want to mate with her. That's what it sounded like. And if he didn't mate with her then what happened? She'd go back to slave quarters. It didn't matter if he had strings to pull. She didn't want him pulling strings. She wanted to do her job.

"I can do my job." Essie simply repeated like some brainwashed drone. She wasn't looking at him. She was staring at the floor. She hadn't moved from her spot.

Kaelen sighed and gestured for them to sit down and relax, offering another kind smile and leaning forward in his own seat. The soldier ruffled his hair awkwardly and thought for a moment before speaking again.

"I know you can,I just want you to have free-will,You are...beautiful,breath-takingly so. I just don't want to force you into doing something YOU don't wish to. In this house you may ignore the system, everything they've brain-washed into you means nothing here. All that counts is what you want, and what I want. For example,I want you to have free-will. What do you want?,Do you want freedom or slavery?" He asked, feeling bad for putting the pressure on this girl. He had to learn how to talk to women better, but it was hard when you had to be so...ruthless,outside of your home.

"I know you must be terrified, and I don't want to put the pressure on you or anything, but,I am not a fan of all this,Outside of this home I am known for my ruthlessness and cold-hearted nature,I've...done things,Thing's I wish I didn't have to,but it's all to keep you and...eventually,if you decide to go through with this. Our children. Safe and happy." He said, awkwardly leaning back in his chair once more and awaiting their reaction.
