Description: The Benefactor has been told many times that he seems to have maintained his youth despite his age, though he wonders why as he doesn’t feel that old. He inherits the blonde hair from his mother but the charming smile from his father. It is this smile on his face that shows his charismatic personality and a desire to make people feel comforted by his presence. His blue-green eyes looking at you from the height of 6’1” are usually relaxed though in times of stress they can appear to be a bit harsh. His skin is usually fair, though when he does go vacationing it can darken a slight bit. He tries to maintain that young image by shaving very often so he doesn’t have a mustache or a beard. Being rich has its perks as he usually wears top of the line suits for his work. Even if he does decide to go casual, you can guess that it is some celebrity brand. He is mainly seen wearing a black suit, white shirt, and a black bowtie. Despite his hair being from his mother, many citizens suggest that he is the spitting image of his corporate father.

Personality:
{Generous, Benevolent, Charismatic, Mysterious, Secretive}
The Benefactor on the outside loves to converse with people and help others. He seems to gravitate to people and others tend to be attracted to his kind personality as well. Many people, particularly charities and the oppressed have known him to be such a generous person with a company that speaks for the man’s character. However, his kindness can be a bit harsh or outright mean, especially to those who do not believe in his persona or who are uncomfortable with a lawful good, but he feels as though not all good deeds feel good and decides to go with it anyway. Sylvester however, has kept many things a secret to the public. It has been known that his wife had died in childbirth though no one had seen a body; many people have speculated theories against him but many others defend the man saying that he’s been going through a hard time and the fact that his daughter Kaylee has grown to be a sweet innocent girl is proof that Sylvester was not the cause of his wife’s death. Kaylee would know that Sylvester has been a loving, protective father who only wished the best for his daughter. It is his kindness to the people as well as the opportunities that he gives out that make him known as, “The Benefactor.”

Biography

Place of Origin:Connecticut, United States of America

Birthday: June 6

History: Before there was “The Benefactor” there was a young boy named Sylvester Cromwell who was the only child of a rich family with a huge business. His father owned a business that helped those who seemed to be lost. They would work with the police and change former gang members and murderers to loving people who made a huge difference to the community while at the same time benefitting the economy of the city. When Sylvester grew up, he inherited the business at the young age of 30 and married the beautiful Clarissa, a famous actress.

All seemed to go well as he made himself The Benefactor and his business expanded. However, on the day that Clarissa had his child, she passed away, leaving him to take care of the baby whom he named Kaylee to mean innocent and the keeper of keys. He named her so because of the innocent smile she seemed to give him on that day and he felt as though she was the key to his moving on after Clarissa’s death. Since then, the corporation has been changed from “Cromwell Corporations” to “The Gift of Innocence Corporation” feeling as though he should continue his mission and give others a “gift of innocence” as he was given Kaylee.

-What Have You Done-
What Have You Done | Within Temptation

Would you mind if I hurt you?
Understand that I need to
Wish that I had other choices
than to harm the one I love

What have you done now?!

I know I'd better stop trying
You know that there's no denying
I won't show mercy on you now
I know, should stop believing
I know, there's no retrieving
It's over now, what have you done?

What have you done now?!

I, I've been waiting for someone like you
But now you are slipping away... oh
Why, why does fate make us suffer?
There's a curse between us, between me and you

What have you done?! What have you done?!
What have you done?! What have you done?!
What have you done now?!
What have you done?! What have you done?!
What have you done?! What have you done?!
What have you done now?!

Would you mind if I killed you?
Would you mind if I tried to?
'cause you have turned into my worst enemy
You carry hate that I don't feel
It's over now
What have you done?

What have you done now?!

I, I've been waiting for someone like you
But now you are slipping away... oh
What have you done now?!
Why, why does fate make us suffer?
There's a curse between us, between me and you

What have you done?! What have you done?!
What have you done?! What have you done?!
What have you done now?!
What have you done?! What have you done?!
What have you done?! What have you done?!
What have you done now?!
What have you done now, what have you done?...

I will not fall, won't let it go
We will be free when it ends

I, I've been waiting for someone like you
But now you are slipping away... oh
What have you done now?!
Why, why does fate make us suffer?
There's a curse between us, between me and you

I, I've been waiting for someone like you
But now you are slipping away... oh
What have you done now?!
Why, why does fate make us suffer
There's a curse between us, between me and you

Sylvester Cromwell, or the Benefactor as he’s called, looked at the grandfather clock that stood near the entrance to his office. It was already 9 o’clock and he wondered whether his new recruits were already up and ready for their new day. He made sure not to exert himself too much for the empowering can take a toll on him when he needs to give it to several people at once. There on his modern black office desk were the files of each of his new recruits that he made sure to read to get to know them. He had read everything from their past to their allergies and phobias to make sure he would be able to understand how to accommodate everyone. He sent a huge list to the chefs so that they would know who to serve what. Of all the rude things to do, Sylvester certainly did not want to ignore the allergies of his staff.

After waiting for five minutes, the Benefactor decided it would be time to meet the new recruits. He first called Nicholas on his cell phone saying, “Hello Nick, it’s time to gather the new recruits to my office. Meet with the females, answer any questions they might have, and bring them up to my office.”

“Sure thing, sir!” Nick replied.

The Benefactor then added, “Oh, and please apologize for my sake about the lack of an elevator. Unfortunately this was how the building was structured and I wouldn’t want to trouble the already exhausted construction workers and architects who are trying to build other important buildings.”

“Yes sir, I will make sure to mention that.”

Nicholas hung up on the line and the Benefactor had to move on next to Scarlet. He was about to start the call when his daughter Kaylee bursted into the room.

“Good morning Daddy!” Kaylee greeted her father with a huge grin on her face.

“Hey, good morning sweetie!” the Benefactor greeted back. He immediately stood up and ran towards the young twelve year old who was holding her arms up in preparation from a giant incoming bear hug from her father. Sylvester swooped into Kaylee’s arms and grabbed her to be hoisted high in the air. When she was younger he would fly her around like a little airplane but with age they both told each other that just being lifted would be enough for them to handle. After suspending Kaylee in the air for a while, the Benefactor brought her close to him to land a couple of kisses on her cheeks before putting her down again.

“I heard there’s going to be some new people here, Daddy!” Kaylee said gleefully. “I wanna go meet them! Can I? Pleeaaassseee???” Kaylee asked using a puppy dog face.

“Well not now honey,” Sylvester said. ”Daddy has to talk about something very important right now to them. After they’re done up here maybe you’ll see them around, okay?”
“Yay!” Kaylee cheered.

Kaylee’s baby sitter Rosemary came in and told the Benefactor that it was time for Kaylee to take her bath and that she will meet with him for Breakfast soon. Sylvester nodded and Kaylee waved her father goodbye before leaving. Sylvester saw that the phone had reset itself so he dialed Scarlet’s number and gave her a call saying, “Hello Scarlet, it’s time for the new recruits to arrive. Please lead the men upstairs and tell them I apologize for the lack of an elevator.”
With that, Sylvester eagerly waited for the new Special Staff.

Scarlet woke up early, as always, she was not used to staying longer than needed to, besides she found peace in jogging around the Corporation in the mornings. Today was different though, they had brought in the new recruits, she would have to do as always and she had to make sure that they would all meet up with Sylvester, or benefactor as he is often called. Speaking of, Scar would never really call him The Benefactor... it sounded strange in her lips so she refrained herself from saying it.

Even more of a reason to wake up early, Scarlet hurried and got ready, she eyed the small clock at the side table and noticed it was barely 6'o clock in the morning. She did as every other morning and when she was finally ready she remembered she would now spend her nights on her other assigned room, 'number #200' she remembered without struggle. She had her own room in the Corporation, of course, but whenever they had new recruits they had to make sure they were doing well so both her and Nicholas stayed nearby. She then remembered how every now and then, she and Nick would exchange dorms just for the fun of it, and now it was her turn to take on the girls.

Knowing that it was still to early for... anything really, Scarlet headed to the kitchen where she saw the staff preparing everything for breakfast. All the dishes were accommodated accordingly and especially for every single recruit, to make them feel at home as Sylvester mentioned before. Scarlet mocked the gesture, if it were up to her she wouldn't go after such a hassle even if her life depended on it. She starred at everyone expressionless seeing through that they were doing their job accordingly. Some of the staff looked nervously seeing the redheaded beauty enter the kitchen, one of the youngest dropped a bowl spilling the Italian salad that she had just prepared as Scarlet starred directly at her. The girl bowed down and apologized but Scarlet did nothing, she shook her head in annoyance and headed outside the kitchen, an older woman did the scolding for her as she exited.

Scarlet pulled her cell phone out knowing that she would soon get a call from Sylvester. As soon as she headed outside, her phone rang, she eyed the name on the screen, 'The Elusive Man", a private inside joke of hers. She answered the phone and heard Sylvester's voice calm and collected as always,“Hello Scarlet, it’s time for the new recruits to arrive. Please lead the men upstairs and tell them I apologize for the lack of an elevator.”. Scarlet didn't say anything as she did so often, she simply hanged up the phone as soon as he had finished his part, she didn't need to be reminded of what to do when she had done the job countless times.

She headed towards the stairs now, moving slowly almost making no noise whatsoever, not intentionally though, without having to try hard Scarlet was as stealthily as a cat. She wondered if other recruits had already woken up and if they had already read the letter that was assigned to each, inevitably a small smile formed upon her lips as she walked up the stairs. Finally upon reaching the second floor she leaned against the wall with her arms crossed waiting for anything to happen. Waiting for Nick to join her and to explain the situation of what had happened to the clueless new batch of recruits. Of course, she considered the possibility that some of them would remember their prior meeting before the letter and before they passed out so she simply waited to see if some of them would try to leave hastily.

She waited some time laying still which made her angry, she was not one to lay still for far too long and she grew impatient far too easily. It was then when she noticed someone coming out of one of the rooms, a girl. Scarlet didn't even flinch seeing the girl, she then heard her speak, "Hello?" the girl asked. Scarlet was still at the end of the hallway motionless and laying still, she disliked being the one who did the talking and she hoped that Nick would be the one to do so as he was always so fond of. So instead of answering the girl she remained quiet and observing. It took a while for her to finally speak, "took you long enough..." she finally said sharply.

As always, Nick groaned annoyed by his alarm going off with his ringtone of a mash up of Relient K’s hits. He first looked at the time on his cell phone showing a bright 9 o’clock and nearly pressed the ignore button, but then his eyes peered down at the Caller ID and saw that it was the Benefactor. Knowing he better not mess with his boss, Nick cleared his throat and answered the call. It seemed the Benefactor had figured it was time for the new recruits to get ready and he wanted him to meet with the females.

“Sure thing, sir!” Nick replied. He was always ready to meet the ladies. It was his favorite part of his job. The Benefactor knew that he was better suited for sweet talking them and so his assignment was set in stone. The Benefactor added that he had to apologize for the lack of an elevator and Nick had carelessly agreed before hanging up.

”Crud…Now I’m going to be mentioning that dang lack of an elevator business. I better find some way to smooth talk over that,” Nick thought.

Nick looked at himself dressed in some Nike blue short pants and a white tee shirt. ”Hmm I don’t think the ladies will like this…” Nick thought. He looked into his chestnut brown cabinet to see what kind of clothes he’s going to wear today. Taking out a white dress shirt, a black suit and its matching pants, Nick decided he was going to go formal today and be the gentleman. After changing his clothes and combing his hair just right for the role, he realized he forgot one more thing and took out his pair of shades from his night stand and put them inside his pocket.

He was about to shout and say, ”Hellooo ladiesss!!!” when he saw the boys coming out of their doors and realized, “Oh yeah… I’m in the guys section right now.” At first Nick was annoyed by the fact that he had to travel in a “U” shape to get to the girls but then he figured, “Oh well I might as well meet the guys as well.”

“Hello?” A guy in dark blue jeans and dark blue button shirt asked loudly as Nick opened the door. Nick went towards the guy and said, “Hey there man, I’m Nicholas Truman but you can call me Nick. I’m sorry, I really want to make introductions but you gotta get to Scar and I gotta get to the girls so we can meet the Benefactor. I’m heading that way and you can follow me or not but I gotta jet. See you soon!” Nick tried to walk but his feet were firmly planted on the floor. He then realized he forgot to say, "Oh yeah and um I'm sorry we don't have an elevator." Finding his feet can move continued his walk and saw two guy pass him without paying any attention, focusing on the staircase at the end of the hall near his room. He was about to call after him when he heard the sound of footsteps growing fainter and moving downwards in a fast motion. “I better tell Scar before the run off…” Nick thought.

Walking even further into the hallway, Nick saw another man leaning against the wall in front of his room who seems to be waiting for some kind of direction from someone. Nick wondered how Scarlet never got to the guys seeing as she’s usually the “early to rise” type of girl. He decided to end the guy’s misery and help him for awhile saying, “Hey there, I’m Nicholas Truman, but you can call me Nick! It seems you’re confused and not sure what to do. I have to go get the girls but you can follow me and I’ll lead you to Scarlet. She’s the one you’re supposed to be meeting. Oh and sorry about there being no elevator!” Nick regrettably left without checking to see if any of the guys were even following him. He had to make sure that he got to the girls for he didn’t want to make the Benefactor wait.

When Nick finally reached the girl’s section he was greeted by Scarlet who told him, “took you long enough.”

“Hey sorry Scar, I had to help a couple of your guys. They looked so confused. Hopefully they followed me…”Nick trailed off. He was about to greet the girls when he caught a glimpse of a short black haired girl running in the opposite direction down the stairs.

”Crud, I hope she doesn’t think of running away!”Nick thought. He knew he had to follow her to make sure but there was the matter of the other girls who were probably just as confused as she was. Regrettably he told them, “Hey ladies and gentlemen, I’ll be with the ladies in a moment to escort them to the Benefactor and the men will go with our lovely Scarlet. However, it seems that I need to make sure the little fox doesn’t run scot free. I’ll see you all in a bit and sorry but there is no elevator!” Before he moved, on he remembered putting something else in his pocket ahead of time that was meant for one of the girls. He took out the medication and gave it to Grey saying, “By the way, the Benefactor mentioned that there was a girl that would be needing some medication. I told him I would be honored to give this to you.”

Without waiting for any response, Nick ran down the staircase behind Scarlet and the others to follow the girl. When he got downstairs he saw the girl on the ground, knees to her chest and crying. He was about to approach her when another guy blowing his smoke shouted some nonsense about sucking it up. Nick can’t stand it when guys are rude, so he called him out saying, “Hey back off man! Let her cry if she wants to! She’s just confused and probably scared out of her mind. You don’t know what she’s been through. And we don't have an elevator so just be patient!”

Nick then knelt down in front of her and took out his handkerchief handing it over to her. “Hey there, don’t worry we’re not going to hurt you,“Nick said with a reassuring smile. “I’m Nick, what’s your name? Sorry we don't have an elevator...” Nick then laughed silently and nervously thinking "Great...I should've been more careful with agreeing to tell the others about the elevator."

Scarlet didn't say anything when Gray spoke, instead she kept leaning against the wall with her legs and arms crossed. "It's lovely to meet you, I'm Grey." she said with a smile that was meant to be warming, Scarlet on the other hand kept starring at her sharply, expressionless except from her eyes that said, 'I'm not buying the act... so drop it'. She then asked her about Nick looking for some sort of explanation, almost at towards the end she said something about not being different or special and she had made the mistake to lie . Scarlet shook her head almost showing her disapproval at the remark, almost feeling offended by it. After all Scar took pride in her job and the corporation, "Does it look to you like just anybody that damn pleases can work here?" she asked feeling highly irritated not only at her comment but at her lie, Scarlet was extremely skilled at spotting a liar and this time was no exception. "Don't bullshit a bullshitter" she thought with a smirk.

"Also, I really need to get home, there's something I really need... to do." she said to which Scar simply replied immediately with a bored tone sounding as if she had already said it countless times before, she had said it to other recruits often times so maybe that's why she sounded apathetic, "everything that you need..." she paused for a moment noticing that others had just gotten out of the room, "is in the room you woke up" she finally said eyeing the others, "But I am sure that most of you noticed that by now" she said knowing how Sylvester liked making feel everyone as comfortable as possible and giving them their own perfect little apartment, Scarlet shook her head in disagreement in Sylvester's arduous attempts to please them.

Scarlet stopped herself from giving any explanations waiting for more recruits to join, after all she hated repeating herself and she thought it useless if they were still missing some people, besides, she was to take on the guys and most of the people she could see so far were women and a few guys. Harper introduced herself followed by a shy wave and asking if they had gotten a letter too, which Scarlet completely ignored, soon after, a girl named Hailey joined too to which Makoto responded with a friendly introduction. Scarlet eyed the whole place again, searching for more recruits to join and to finally lead them to Sylvester, and she noticed Zeus waiting outside his room leaning against his door, waiting for her instructions. One by one, Scar was counting to see exactly how many of them were missing and so far everything seemed to be going well, they had more than half girls with Fiona's arrival but they were still lacking many of the guys and she had just noticed one of them leaving the scene walking away in the opposite direction, 'well that's just... perfect' she thought in annoyance.

It wasn't until she heard a male voice ask a bit confused, "Hello?" that Scarlet had finally had enough. "All right... that's it." she paused a bit irritated, "I am not giving any explanations until everyone is here." she said looking at everyone. Scar finally saw nick joining her, she gave him a look saying, 'you're late, again...' but she didn't say anything as he moved to her side, “Hey sorry Scar, I had to help a couple of your guys. They looked so confused. Hopefully they followed me…” he said. Scarlet didn't say anything as he explained the group that guys needed to follow her while the girls were on him, he obviously explained obediently about warning them of the out-of-service-elevator and soon after followed after the girl that had also exited the scene post haste, Scarlet hoped he would also bring the other guy that had left as soon as he walked out his door.

After Nick left quickly running after the girl, she was left alone with the group once again. Annoyed at the whole dramatics, the chatter and growing more and more impatient at everyone that wasn't there she finally unfolded her arms and moved towards the rooms. One by one on the missing guys she knocked on their rooms, loud enough to give anyone a headache, it wasn't until she got the the room #276 that she noticed an open door. She entered the room quickly and as soon as she realized that there was nobody in the room she rolled her eyes, 'there always has to be that one guy doesn't it...' she started wondering. She pulled out her phone texting the idiot that had decided to play smart on her.

"Not on my watch. Don't even think about it... Get. Back. Here. Now."

Scarlet walked out of the door closing it shut quickly making yet another loud noise. She looked around to the ones that were still talking with each other. She wouldn't have said anything if it were up to her but she thought that more would try to leave so at the end she finally decided to speak up, "something came up... stay here, Nick will be back soon and so will I" she said accentuating the stay, almost making it a command for everyone to follow. "You will soon meet Sylvester... " she paused for a moment knowing it would sound awkward on her lips, "I mean... The Benefactor. You may want to get to know each other seeing that you'll be living together from now on" and with further delay she headed down the stairs. She felt her phone vibrate on her black denim jeans,

"I'm on my way. Walter's bringing me. Who is this anyway?"

"I'll meet you by the door"

It didn't take long for Scar to reach the door. She posed against the open door arch with her arms crossed as she had done in the morning. She was already on a bad mood so instead of looking relaxed as she had on the morning she looked a bit tense. It didn't take as long before she saw him walking towards her, "Hello mystery lady. Please tell me you're the one who's been texting me" he said as soon as he was close enough. Scarlet rolled her eyes in annoyance at his remark, "careful there, don't flatter yourself hotshot" she said moving past the door encouraging him to follow her.

As they walked their way on the direction where the others were waiting, "So how'd you get my number?" he asked but Scarlet kept walking ahead. "It probably helps that I put it on my contacts under 'My Number'. huh?" a small mischievous smile drew on her lips as she continued walking. "Well looking back on it now, it's pretty helpful, right? So why'd you text me?" he continued. Scarlet stopped walking remembering how troublesome he had been and she turned to face him now, "Because you were the only one dumb enough to leave." she said sharply before she gave him her back again and started walking at a faster pace now. It was a lie of course, some of them had indeed walked away, but that didn't mean that she would have to tell him that.

Scar finally reached the stairs but she didn't turn around to see if he was still following but she hoped that he was, after all she didn't want any more hassle than needed. She finally headed upstairs where she had told everyone to stay put, when she finally reached the place she eyed some of them that seemed to be already talking to each other, she turned around to see if Nick was already back from his little trip but he was nowhere to be seen. Before she did anything else, she turned around to see Daniel again, "I hope you don't give me any more trouble..." she finally said before she leaned against the wall again observing everyone a bit impatiently again, counting how many there were and hoping that they had more than the last time she had counted.

The Benefactor after waiting about thirty minutes wondered how long it would take Nick and Scar to come and get the new recruits. He was getting a bit impatient but he tried to remain control of his emotions. All of his recruits were probably confused, scared, worried, and who knows what else. He figured he could give them time to bond a bit about their new situation. Besides, he needed some breakfast.

After Kaylee got herself washed and ready, Rosemary brought her down to have some breakfast with the Benefactor. The dining hall had a fall theme going on with the long chestnut brown table covered in a golden table cloth with fake colorful leaves sprinkled on top of it. The flowers in the vase centered were reds and oranges and the brown twigs that separated bunches of flowers were accentuated with darker patterns to make it seem like they were real twigs. The chairs were a darker brown than the twigs and had duller golden cushions for the back and for the seat. All around the room were fall decorations from colorful leaves to nicely arranged baskets of harvest. These were reminders for both the Benefactor and Kaylee that her private school teacher would attend very soon to teach Kaylee for fifth grade. He was proud that she was growing fast but it also worried him that she would soon become a teenager.

Kaylee sat next to the Benefactor eating away at her favorite cereal, Fruit Loops, and gulping down a glass of milk after several spoonful’s of colorful sugary loops. The Benefactor sat down as the servants came in and brought his plate of food: dark brown pancakes with syrup, sausage links, and a glass of almond milk. While eating the Benefactor talked to Kaylee asking her about how she thinks school will be.

“It’ll be fine daddy don’t worry. Though I want to meet other kids my age. Why can’t I go to a regular school?”
“Well Kaylee, you’re my daughter, and I just want to make sure you receive the best education possible in the safest manner.”

“But what’s so dangerous about the other schools daddy?”
“Well there are people fighting, unfair teachers, children who will pretend to be your friends, it’s just not safe out there for you.”

“Oh, okay daddy,” Kaylee said putting her head down while eating her last spoonful of Fruit Loops. The Benefactor looked concerned at Kaylee feeling sorry that she has to stay inside the company. He wanted her to meet other children but that wasn’t an option with the way things are.

“How about this. After your birthday if it’s possible we can try to put you in a regular school. But you have to promise that you’ll be able to catch up fast with the material that your homeschool teacher gives you.”
Kaylee then lifted up her face and her eyes shone with excitement. “Really daddy? You mean it??”
The Benefactor nodded and Kaylee jumped out of her chair and hugged her father tightly saying, “Thank you thank you thank you!!!”

“You’re welcome Kaylee. After all you’ll be a teenager by then and then an adult. You’ll have to learn how to handle yourself from then on.”

“I promise I will do my best for you daddy!” Kaylee cheerfully smiled before skipping to her room. Rosemary followed after her while Kaylee complained that she could go by herself and didn’t need any assistance.

After finishing his breakfast the Benefactor went back to his office again. Noting that it was already about time they should come, he gave Nick a call again.

Nick had followed Novia up the stairs to go with the others. He was about to strike a conversation with some more ladies when his phone rang again.

“Nick, I believe you should be heading up soon. Have the others not awakened yet?”

Nick looked at the crowd quickly then answered, “There is one guy that still needs to be here but I think he should be heading to the group shortly. Scar can take care of that. All the girls are here now.”

“Alright good, once he comes I want you and Scar to both bring the new recruits over. They have a lot of business to attend to.”

“No problem sir.”

Nick ended the call just as the other man got over to the group.

“Good, okay folks it’s time to go meet your new boss! Scar you can lead the boys first, I’ll stay behind the girls to make sure they’re protected.”

Nick winked at the girls, smiled at Scarlet, then retreated to the back of the girls waiting for Scar to go lead the boys. He didn’t mind if Scarlet made a face at his request. He simply enjoyed teasing her as always. Besides he was going to protect the girls and maybe even get to flirt with some of them using his charm.

Scarlet moved her head to the side at the sight of all the people talking to each other. Sylvester had given them a report on every single one of them, as he always did with new recruits, so she wasn't surprised to see some of the interactions that were happening just a few feet away. She eyed everyone that seemed to be doing their own thing, it was then when she saw a much smaller and shorter figure roaming the the room trying to stay unnoticed, 'Kaylee...' Scar said in a low voice, her blonde hair could be seen behind Rosalina and Noah who seemed to be too deep into their conversation that they didn't notice when the twelve year old was eavesdropping on their conversation. kaylee then moved to Jasper, whom she saw being rude to someone else, she elbowed the young tall man purposely, "sorry about that" she tried saying in a sweet and endearing tone that yelled sarcasm all over, one that she had picked from Scar most likely. The young girl then stuck her tongue out to the young man and moved next to Zeus who the young girl thought seemed to be nice enough.

Scarlet couldn't help but to grin at the little girl's actions but her smile quickly vanished as soon as the soon to be teenager turned to look at her. Scarlet immediately changed her mood and looked at Kaylee scornfully as she always did when the young girl was trying to get in trouble. Kaylee, knowing she did not want to make Scar even madder, dropped her shoulders and started walking towards the red haired beauty who seemed far from happy with her arrival. She looked like a child about to be scolded by her mother, she had her eyes on the floor as she walked slowly towards her. Finally she was at hands reach from Scar, "I'm sorry" the young girl said. Scarlet moved her hand towards the little girl's head ruffling her long blonde hair, "Kaylee... you know that your Dad doesn't like it when you are playing around with the new recruits".

It was then when they were interrupted by an older woman, Rosemary. She rushed her way in though the stairs and was having an agitated respiration as she had probably ran to search for Kaylee as she did so often being her Nanny. Finally, she spotted the young girl who was next to Scarlet, "Miss Crom...well" she said trying to catch her breath, breathless almost. "Rosy..." said the young girl in return and now hiding behind Scar not wanting to continue with her piano lessons. Rosemary waited for a few minuted trying to regain composure, Scarlet did not say anything and waited until she spoke again, "Ms. Romanov" to which Scarlet replied immediately, "Just Scarlet, Rosemary" she said annoyed though not being disrespectful. Rosemary was about to speak again when Scarlet cut her off, "that will not be necessary, I was about to tell her to return to her lessons" she said dismissing Rosemary for the moment. "But..." Kaylee started, "No buts, I know you want to come but you know you can't. I'll come and fetch you up as soon as I can ok?". Kaylee without second thoughts knowing she would keep her word simply replied, "Okay..." and Scarlet smiled at the young girl before she headed back.

As soon as Kaylee was out of her sight, Scarlet counted the number of people in the room again. Finally she counted the number she needed for the guys with the new addition of the last guy she needed, who looked just as baffled and confused as most of them, and she found Nick finally coming back with the last girl. She was about to make a remark on his, again, delayed arrival but she saw him answering the phone, Sylvester at the end of the line most likely. Finally, after hanging up he spoke again, “Good, okay folks it’s time to go meet your new boss! Scar you can lead the boys first, I’ll stay behind the girls to make sure they’re protected.” With that he winked at the girls followed by a smile directed at her but Scarlet couldn't help but to role her eyes, "Like you had to tell me twice..."

Finally Scarlet moved in front only turning back once, "You wanted some answers and answers is what you'll get. she paused for a moment to look at everyone and then turned to Nick, "You heard mister Claus here" she said calling him by the nickname she had given him as soon as she heard his name was Nicholas, "the guys come with me first." And with that she moved in front of everyone being careful to see that all of them followed. "The elevator doesn't work" she said before anyone was clever enough to ask why they couldn't simply go on the elevator, what Nick had already explained a couple of times; besides it was something that some of them, like the new guy were unaware of. They had to go up the stairs up to the sixth floor, Scarlet did not say anything as they moved their way up. She knew that Sylvester would be waiting and was starting to get impatient as he had called for Nick for an update, besides she wanted to get the empowering done as soon as possible as it would make her job easier.

Scarlet could care less if anyone complained at the stairway, once they were in the sixth floor she turned around to see if all of them were behind and to see if Nick was following behind though she thought that he would probably stayed longer behind flirting all the way up. Scarlet moved slowly towards Sylvester's office, she barged in the room where the door was already opened, she didn't see the point in knocking had the door been closed, either way she made her way in his office. "Here they are" she said signaling everyone, "you really know how to pick em" she said before she did as always, she leaned against the wall letting Sylvester do all the talking.

"Thank you, for helping me back there...It was really nice of you."

Daniel smiled, pocketing his hand as he leaned against the wall. “What can I say?” He shrugged facetiously, "I'm a philanthropist. It runs in my family.” He made himself comfortable against the wall, shoving his hands into his pockets to refrain from gesticulating much. Daniel hated that he felt the need to move his hands whenever he talked, but it was hereditary. If he constricted his hands, his head would move, and that was just aggravating. “If we're going to be friends then I'll have to apologize in advance for my stereotypical remarks and/or name-calling. I don't mean to offend you, it's not my intention, it's just my sense of humor.” That sounded rehearsed. Daniel mused, Damn. I have to explain myself way too often. “I'm not going to guess what you're personal line of decency is, I cross my own from time to time, it's how I know I still have one.” He paused, giving the socially awkward young man time to adjust before going on another spiel, “I'm allergic to cinnamon. Deathly allergic. Just sniffing the stuff will get me to start wheezing and hacking. Uhh...what else? Oh! Sometimes I like to play piano at three in the morning in the event that I can't sleep. I tend to stay in constant motion. I get bored relatively easy. And I'm not accustomed to staying by myself for too long so I'll probably on you like white on rice for the better part of our friendship. And...uhh-....” Daniel took a moment to pause, looking up to rack his brain for anything else, letting out a long monotone drone until he snapped his attention back to Maki, “Would that bother you? Future best friends really should know the worst about each other.” Daniel beamed at his own reference, finding it a plus if the timid young man understood it.

"Uh...okay?" Maki scratched the back of his head, standing awkwardly in front of him. "I'm afraid of blood...I don't use profanity...I'm a virgin...and I'm kind of bad at math?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa-....” Daniel laughed, "Whoa. What do you mean you're kind of bad at math? You're Asian.”

Maki frowned as he shrugged his shoulders, weakly. "Not all stereotypes are true, apparently. I mean, if I judged you by your appearance, I'd determine that you're Jewish because of your nose and hair, but I could be wrong. I probably am.”

Daniel chuckled, "Jokes on you, Maki. As it happens I am of Jewish descent." He shrugged, "I just don't practice organize religion. But you-...." He wagged a finger, "You're the one not living up to your expectations, my friend. I mean being a virgin? That's fine. I figure with all the studying they do, Asians don't get laid much anyway. Profanity? I'm fine with you not using any as long as you don't fault me for using it a lot. But not being good at math? Being afraid of blood? That's like two of your job opportunities down the drain!" Daniel clasped his hand on his friend's shoulder, comforting him. "That's alright, buddy. Tell you what: I'll tutor you. I'm a bit of a mathematician myself. I can make you better at it, if you want."

"Uh, sure, I guess." Maki sighed, defeated. The one time he tries to make a point, it gets smacked down. "I'll teach you Japanese...you know, if you want me to."

Daniel looked at Maki, mouth agape and arms spread, shocked that he could think Daniel would possibly pass that up. "Hell yeah I would! Are you kidding?" He laughed. He paused, catching a glimpse of golden hair as a small girl past by him to converse with the fiery red head to his right. "Huh. A kid. Weird," He thought aloud, shaking his head before turning back to Maki with a smile, "Do you have a cellphone? I'm totally giving you my number so you can text me."

"Yeah," he said, reaching into his jeans to pull out his iPhone. Unlocking it, he handed it over to Daniel as his eyes followed the little girl. "Just type your number in." Daniel took the phone from Maki, vaguely aware of his new friend's attention as he filled out almost every slot of information on the contact list. He even took a picture of himself, holding the phone out as he grinned into the front facing camera, snapping a pic to attach to the contact. That was another guilty pleasure of his he should've added to the list of 'worst things'. He enjoyed talking selfies far too much for it to be healthy. Satisfied with his work, he returned the locked phone to Maki, interrupted by the voice of his mystery lady.

"You wanted some answers and answers is what you'll get." She said before gesturing towards the pretty boy that intermingled with the girls. Daniel cast a glance at him briefly before turning his attention back on the red head. Clearly they knew each other. That guy must work here or something. "You heard mister Claus here, the guys come with me first."

Daniel perked up, turning back to Maki as he pocketed his phone. "What d'ya say? Want to be my orientation buddy?"

"Sure," Maki smiled, his mood perking up. Daniel beamed, his own mood heightening considerable with the knowledge that he'd made someone's day better. "Sounds good."

As his mystery lady relayed the condition of the elevator, Daniel walked beside Maki to follow behind her. He was quiet during their ascent, taking comfort from his new friend's presence. He wasn't lying when he said he wasn't accustomed to being alone. He hated it. It frightened him more than death itself. So Maki being there, willingly accepting his company, meant more to him than his new friend probably knew. The fiery redhead lead the group of boys into the office and Daniel stood close to Maki's side, maybe more for the younger man's benefit than his own, but for his own nonetheless. He could sense the little guy's curiosity masked by a tinge of anxiety, and it brought a smirk to his lips. He was braver than most. Being led to some random guy's office after being kidnapped was one thing, being more curious than nervous was another. Daniel stole a glance at the redhead as she leaned against the wall before he cast his attention to the man behind the mystery, his skin prickling with anticipation.

Jasper rolled his eyes as the Asian was 'rescued' by the same idiot that felt the need to sing to him earlier. He's barely been in this place for an hour and he already wanted to wring three people's necks. He glared at the floor, his sour mood only heightening when a little brat tried to show her ass and bump into him on purpose. "Damn kids," Jasper muttered, bitterly. He wanted to trip the little beast, but she got away before his foot could clip her.

A red head began spewing commands and Jasper shrugged his shoulders, forgetting the little girl completely as he trekked forward, following wordlessly. He was too curious at the moment to relatively give a damn about the fact that this lady felt like she was big and bad. Under normal circumstances, Jasper would have engaged her in a penis swinging competition. However, his mind was reeling with the multitude of possibilities. Was this like some secret agent type shit? Were they smugglers or something? He didn't know, but he was definitely intrigued. As he moved up the steps, Jasper played and pulled at his bottom lip while staring at his sneakers, out of habit, his ADD kicking in. His fingers fiddled with his shirt and worried his bottom lip until they reached their destination.

Jasper pulled his hands away from his lips and clothes, stuffing the restless digits into his pocket. That was when he looked up from his Chuck Taylors, eyes landing on an older man. "So, you're the asshole that kidnapped me...who the hell do you think you are?" He narrowed his icy eyes at the man, holding back nothing. Everyone was probably thinking it. He was just brave enough to say it.

Nicholas was enjoying his view from the rear eyeing the pretty girls that he sees yet cautious to Scarlet’s eyes. He was a bit startled by Grey skipping over to him and hooking her right arm to his left, yet he smiled at her as she introduced herself as Grey holding her free hand in front of him. “ …and thank you for kidnapping me” she said while giggling at the end. Nick had a hunch that the girl was not being quite truthful with her laughter as her smile was bigger and her laugh sounded a bit forced, yet he decided to go along with it, thinking to himself, ”Okay, here we go girl number two! I’m on a roll today!” He shook Grey’s hand gently saying in a smooth voice, “Ah how rude of me I don’t believe I had introduced myself very well back there so sorry. I had some business to take care of but no matter. I am Nicholas Truman, though call me Nick or Nicky if you wish.” He smiled at her and looked into her eyes as they walked up saying, “Oh you’re very welcome. I’ve always been the expert at catching the best fish in the sea. Though I apologize for having you walk four flights of stairs. Like I said before there is no elevator.” Nick continued to flaunt and flirt with Grey and look at the other women until they reached the Benefactor’s office.

The Benefactor leaned back on his desk as the new recruits slowly gathered inside his office. First the men appeared and then the women. As the Benefactor studied them closely without staring, he couldn’t help but notice how disheveled, confused, and even angry they looked. One of them had even called out "So, you're the asshole that kidnapped me...who the hell do you think you are?" The Benefactor wasn’t fazed by the anger that snapped out of the young boy. In fact he had to admit he was very straightforward which would be useful to him.

”Poor things,” he thought. ”They must’ve gone through some pretty rough times only to be brought to another adventure of their lives. No matter. It is now that they will begin their possible transformation.”

The Benefactor then stood up proud and as tall as he could clearing his throat and then greeting his new recruits with a “Welcome.” “My name is Sylvester Cromwell but I am usually addressed as The Benefactor. Although some of you may know that from reading the letter. Before we begin, I should let you know that should you desire to return to your rooms, the room number is placed in the back of the letter. If you by chance did not read your letter in your room or did not bring it with you and don’t remember your room, I will give it to you before we give you a tour of the places you will be working in the town.” Sylvester could see that some people seemed to look up or raise their eyebrows as though he had guessed correctly that some people haven’t touched or known about the letter. No matter, there is always an incident such as this one.

The Benefactor motioned to the two recruiters who had accompanied them to move aside as they always have done. He then motioned for the new recruits to come closer and he put his hands towards them palms facing forward. He wore white gloves that matched his formal business attire of a black suit, pants, and shoes. The room seemed to stir a bit and a wind picked up that shook some objects such as a lamp by the corner and some books in Sylvester’s shelf but not so hard that it would knock things to the floor. A faint glow came from underneath Sylvester and the recruits. It was obscure because of the many recruits, but there was a light sea green spell circle with intricate and ancient symbols. The same glow surrounded the people who may or may not have been a bit frightened but the Benefactor reassured, “Don’t worry and don’t be afraid. He is right now observing you and trying to gather information of your pasts, of your fears, of your strengths, and of sorrows. He is the one that will bestow your powers which you will utilize in your work. These powers are your Gifts of Innocence. You must now open your hearts, minds, and souls, and accept the Gift of Innocence as parts of you now.”

The glow emanating from the spell circle grew warm and surrounded the individuals as the Benefactor closed his eyes and concentrated. He could feel his strength diminishing bit by bit until the spell was complete. He doubled back and tripped but Nicholas ran to catch him in time.

“Thank you Nicholas. I’ll be fine don’t worry. Just be sure to fill in what I need you to fill in.”

“Sure sir. Hey wait, what do you need me to fill in?”

“You’ve already agreed Nicholas. You’ll see.”

The Benefactor then proceeded to walk towards each individual to inform them of their powers and their tasks. He first walked to Rosalina and said, “Rosalina, you’ve lost money and your life has gone in all sorts of directions, but now you can help others who were put in the same situation. You are the Loaner who has the power to produce blank checks to loan money to whoever needs it. The wielder of the blank check is able to create blank checks that can be at any dollar amount. They can be given to anyone poor or rich or somewhere in between as long as they meet the terms. It will be agreed upon by customers that there will be a set date for payment and a 1% interest is to be expected. The customer chooses the exact date and time for the payment but it cannot be altered no matter the situation. You will be working very closely with an old friend of yours.”

The Benefactor walked over to Noah and said, ”Noah, you’ve abused drugs and even conjured your own, sometimes bringing others with you to your downfall. Now you will be a potions maker which is like a drug dealer only your potions are made through your gift of magic medicine. You will brew potions that will solve problems that the customer will have. Materials and the guide book will be provided by the Benefactor. However, the medicines are still drugs, which mean they have to be taken at certain dosages and in a limited amount of time. Make sure you take some funds with Rosalina.”

After talking to Noah, the Benefactor moved on to Hailey, Aradia, and Grey. “All three of you will be counselors though you differ depending on your power and experiences. Hailey and Aradia you’ve been best friends but the friendship hasn’t been exactly comforting and supportive has it? Hailey you will be the Empowerment Counselor, taking those who feel as though they are weak and help them take charge into their lives. You were given power to “take charge” because you have been used by another and have felt helpless. You will tell people to recite a mantra to help them take charge into their lives. “I am powerful. My actions do have meaning. I will take charge and control my destiny.”This mantra when recited helps the user to feel empowerment. The user can take charge in his or her life to the point where he/she is intimidating enough to make other people do as told. The mantra only lasts for twenty-four hours, but it can be said over and over again.

Aradia, you will be the Satisfaction Counselor, taking those who feel as though they are not satisfied with their life and are jealous of others. You will help them turn their jealousy around and replace it with feelings of wanting to know and understand the object of their jealousy more. You were given this power because you have felt jealous and have taken out your jealousy on another person. There is a mantra for this that you will teach. “I am satisfied. There is enough for me. I will turn jealousy into devotion and become a true friend instead.” This mantra when recited helps the user become more devoted to becoming a true friend rather than a jealous poisonous friend. Like the take charge mantra, it only lasts for twenty-four hours, but it can be said over and over again.

Grey, you will be the Death/Suicide Counselor who will try to help and understand victims of depression due to death and suicides. In order to understand your patients you were given the gift of empathy which allows you to feel the pain of your patients emotionally, physically, and mentally. You have experienced the feeling of guilt due to obliviousness. Your empathy is not limited to her patients however. You can also feel the pain of others around you when listening intently, usually asking others “Tell me, I’ll listen and try to understand” in order to activate empathy.

You three will be working very closely as counselors so I hope you get along nicely. The Benefactor said giving a warm smile to the ladies.”

He moved on to Zeus and informed him about his role. “Zeus, you will be working with the counselors as well with your role being the Psychologist. You will help people recover from traumatic experiences by permanently erase the painful memories of your patients. You have been sexually assaulted by other women and are always haunted by it, so now you can help others ease their pain by erasing their memory. However, in exchange you must peer into the memories of his patients and erase a happy and equivalent memory. He may use this power outside of work, but the people must be willing to have at least the bad memory erased for it to work.

He turned to Fiona and Alton to tell them about their roles. “You both will be Animal Rescuers and Trainers as you both have witnessed and or experienced pain. Fiona, you will be a friend to the animals, able to befriend animals easily and having them listen to your commands, as though they understand you completely. Friend of the Animals is given to someone who has been tortured by the various cruel deeds done on animals. You will show them a better life through taking care of them and training them in the special Animal Training facilities provided by the Benefactor.

Alton, you will help Fiona rescue animals from their various dangerous situations. To aid you, you will have the ability to not feel any pain, for you have been abused too many times without reason. It should be noted that the effect of feeling no pain lasts both in and out of the job. Make sure however that you rest periodically."

The Benefactor decided that since he just told the animal Rescuers their roles, he should designate the rescuer of people. “Forgive me, is it Jang or Jang Hyun? I have never been the best with Asian names. Anyway, you will also be a rescuer but of people with the gift of resurrection. You have lost many people in your life that you have loved through cruel fate, so now you can help others get that second chance of living. Just note that the people you resurrect will have their lives changed in ways that you need to discover on your own.”

Next he went on to another Asian to get the awkward names over with. “Another one ahh…Ma—ko—to? Anyways, you have been running away from a past of killings, being in the Mafia, and other wrong doings and want to get another chance under a new identity. You will allow people that chance as well. Under the guise of a prison guard, you will have the ability of a reset button, the chance to improve their current lives by allowing them to go back and fix the point in their lives that they think ruined them. Look in your hands and you will see that you have a literal Reset Button that has knobs that change the date and time displayed on it. A person can change it to whatever time and date they want to go back to. After they are done fixing their problem they are transported back in the new present There are however limitations as you will figure out."

He turned to Harper and said, “You’ve been in a lot of raping and prostitution business haven’t you? You feel worthless thinking that being a whore is your only worth and you’ve even panicked about that job of yours haven’t you? Don’t answer the call. You have another home now. You can help others by being the Empowerer. You are similar to Hailey in that you will help others get up from their sulking, agony, and lack of confidence. You will guide those who were lost, thrown away, and shunned by society to a new direction in life. Your Gift of Innocence, "Listen Well," enables you to allow the person she is talking to listen and obey her advice and commands. There are however, limitations to this power as the person must be able to actually hear it. Unlike the others you will search out those in the town rather than have your clients directed to you. We must always remember there are those who do not wish to actively change their fates, as you should know from experience.”

He turned to Jasper, the man who had spoken up to the Benefactor, and said, “I am someone who knows that you were blamed of murder incorrectly due to misunderstanding. You accuse me of kidnapping but it is merely a misunderstanding as I am helping you as you were at your lowest point. So you want to find the truth of things and you shall as a detective with the gift of Psychometry. It allows you to touch an object or person to see the recent past or future. However, note that you will not be given any indication whether it had happened in the past or will happen in the future.”

The Benefactor made sure to be more open and comforting when approaching Novia knowing that she will be more distrusting than the others. “Novia do not fear. Although I know that you are not legal here, let it be assured that your secret is safe with us and that I am not here to deport you. In fact come see me some time and I have connection that might help you get citizenship if you so desire. But in regards to your job, I know you are a bright person, yet you have been held back by poverty. Therefore you will be the Negotiator, negotiating with various salesmen for needed goods. If any of the workers or I need something we will turn to you for your negotiation skills will be so amazing it will be as though they cannot refuse. You will persuade them with “Do we have an accord?” and the item is yours! I trust that you are smart enough to know the correct amount to negotiate for and will give her a budget to abide by.

Sylvester made sure to hurry since he can tell that people were getting impatient and from the corner of his eye he could tell Jasper was itching to get out of here. “Finally Daniel, the man who was supposed to have been a father. I’m so sorry about the miscarriage and your wife. Trust me, I know how it feels to lose your significant other.” The Benefactor looked off in space about after he said that, thinking about…Clarissa… He shook his head to get back to reality knowing he had to continue and said, “Er Sorry. Anyway, you will be a Fertility Specialist, being able to let others have children the way they want them to be and at any time they wish for the baby to develop. The clients will also be able to pick specific traits for their unborn child. It should be noted that you can only induce pregnancy on willing women. And I would advise you please, do not make any of my staff pregnant. It would be very troublesome to have many little children even though Kaylee would love to have siblings.”

The Benefactor then walked to the front of the room pausing a bit to catch his breath from all of the talking and then finally opening his mouth to speak. “Nick I believe it is time for you to fill them in on what I cannot fill in, your power and Scarlet would you like to do so or as always leave it to mystery? Of course Nick you cannot refuse,” the Benefactor ended with a smile.
Nick sighed but he knew he had no choice so he stood in front of the crowd and said, “As you all know, I am a recruiter but I have the power of persuasion. I…used to not be able to commit to anything. I have so many jobs it’s hard to count, I have had many girlfriends that I haven’t had the courage to commit to, and I…” Nick paused but the Benefactor urged him to go on. “I left my fiancé at the altar. I couldn’t do it. I…I ran because I was too afraid to commit to something I wasn’t sure of. However, the Benefactor found me and gave me this power. Now I’m able to make commitments with ease. If I agree to something someone asks me to I will actually be able to do it! Though it goes the same with others. Just be careful, if I ask you to do something and you agree, you can’t run away and you have to go through with it.” As Nick finished he sighed having said this story to many new recruits to rile them up.

The Benefactor then stood in front of Nick and asked, “Any more questions?”

I am Nicholas Truman, though call me Nick or Nicky if you wish.” When he smiled she did the same in return not to be rude, “Oh you’re very welcome. I’ve always been the expert at catching the best fish in the sea. Though I apologize for having you walk four flights of stairs. Like I said before there is no elevator.” She ran her hand through her hair, "It's perfectly fine! I enjoy walking anyways, and it's so lovely to meet you Nicky, what a sexy nickname you have." It was strange to her that a building so large didn't have a elevator, but a little walking would never kill her, she had to do it almost everyday at the library making it nothing new, but the strangest thing was that she was fake flirting back with the man.

Still holding on to Nick they arrived in a huge room where the boys already were, Time to meet the Benefactor. Once in she noticed how the were kind of in the back due to the fact the girls had arrived later, so with Nick still to her arm she pulled him forward with her so they'd be in the front. a “Welcome. My name is Sylvester Cromwell but I am usually addressed as The Benefactor. Although some of you may know that from reading the letter. Before we begin, I should let you know that should you desire to return to your rooms, the room number is placed in the back of the letter. If you by chance did not read your letter in your room or did not bring it with you and don’t remember your room, I will give it to you before we give you a tour of the places you will be working in the town.” Looking the man over she expected someone older, greying, and almost died. She didn't have a reason why that image was the one she had chosen, but it was. So we'll be working in town... I wonder what town we're even in? Not knowing where she was was kind of a bonus. At first she had been scared of the unknown, but now it was relaxing knowing that all the old people she had once known that reminded her of sorrow could possibly never find her again. It was very pleasant to her.

The Benefactor made a small gesture, What's that Q for? Shortly after the thought she felt Nick pull away from her. Smiling as she slowly pulled back her arm and put it to her side she let her attention drift back to the man in the front. When Scarlet and Nick had removed themselves from the new recruits she watched as the Benefactor put his white gloved hands out before him. When he had done so it seemed as if a breeze had taken over making her hair dance stop of it. Soon a glowing white light began to take flame under her and the rest of the people around her. It was a strange sight, but in it's strangeness beautiful causing her to actually smile. It didn't take long for her to realize her joy and soon switch the happy to off. Grey was her own worst enemy, she felt like she didn't deserve to be happy so she tried her best to never be. “Don’t worry and don’t be afraid. He is right now observing you and trying to gather information of your pasts, of your fears, of your strengths, and of sorrows. He is the one that will bestow your powers which you will utilize in your work. These powers are your Gifts of Innocence. You must now open your hearts, minds, and souls, and accept the Gift of Innocence as parts of you now.” Releasing a breath she opened her true emotions, she tingled a little from inside, Who's He? And why do I feel so strange? The sensation left as soon as it begun, He's magically... She didn't know what to make of this, but she felt like the thought of strange science had to be the key behind this whole gift still. When all the warmth was gone her attention rose back to the Benefactor who stumbled, but was soon caught. “Thank you Nicholas. I’ll be fine don’t worry. Just be sure to fill in what I need you to fill in.” She wasn't sure what she had observed, but it clearly had drained her new boss some.

She then watched as he went around to a few telling them their gift and why, Please don't mention my past... Is all she could think when listened to his voice. “All three of you will be counselors though you differ depending on your power and experiences..." When he came to her she drifted away as she he began speaking about the gifts of the others. Me a counselor? I try to block most people out. She was prone to block out others when others become to... annoying to her. It was strange for her to be a counselor, what would she counsel on? Grey, you will be the Death/Suicide Counselor who will try to help and understand victims of depression due to death and suicides. In order to understand your patients you were given the gift of empathy which allows you to feel the pain of your patients emotionally, physically, and mentally. You have experienced the feeling of guilt due to obliviousness. Your empathy is not limited to her patients however. You can also feel the pain of others around you when listening intently, usually asking others “Tell me, I’ll listen and try to understand” in order to activate empathy." She almost felt like crying at the sound, the obviousness had been the reason her husband died, she didn't want to help depressed people when she was depressed herself. She's feel what others felt, the sadness of patients she'd have in the future. "I'll help all the people I can!" Telling the Benefactor happily before he passed even though she dreaded the whole thought. "You three will be working very closely as counselors so I hope you get along nicely.” Receiving his warm smile she turned to the two others she'd be working with, What fun.

It took time for the Benefactor to finish, but when he did it happened to be Nick's turn, Now what does this flirt have to say? On her way up here Nick had flirted, which was an odd feeling since she hadn't been flirted with in years. Nick had let out a sigh as he moved in the middle of the now gifted. “As you all know, I am a recruiter but I have the power of persuasion. I…used to not be able to commit to anything. I have so many jobs it’s hard to count, I have had many girlfriends that I haven’t had the courage to commit to, and I…” When he paused it was clear he didn't want to talk about it, and in a way she felt bad for him because she'd hate talking about hers. Just be careful, if I ask you to do something and you agree, you can’t run away and you have to go through with it.” His story angered her some, Why would he have proposed if he was just going to leave? She didn't like the sound of it, if her husband had done that to her... she would have been the way she was now so it didn't really matter to much. “Any more questions?” He took stand in front of Nick. She didn't raise her hand because this wasn't a kindergarten classes, "Why was I chosen?" She was oblivious, but there had to be people that were way more oblivious than she, there had to be.

Harper had done her very best to completely ignore any and everyone after her last encounter. Not that it had been unpleasant, but because she really didn't care. She just wanted to meet this "Benefactor" and get on with whatever was happening so that she could know, make a choice, and leave if that's what she wanted to do. Thankfully, it wasn't long before they were all grouped up and shuffled toward the stairs. [darkgreen]Stairs? Really? All this money, and they force us to use the stairs? Animals. Harper kept her thoughts to herself, easily climbing up the stairs without becoming winded. Thanks to her job, she was in peek fitness. She was herded into the room with the Benefactor, along with everyone else. She was briefly reminded of cattle, and watched the handsome man with keen interest. Was he the gentle farmer, or the owner of their slaughter house?

Her mind was torn from cows the second the room started to vibrate and the floor stared to glow. "Holy shit," she breathed, too terrified to move, but pretty certain that she probably should. Too held by her own terror, she found that she could not retreat from the scary glowing pentagram. Was this some sort of sick joke? Because it wasn't funny. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she began to mentally panic. Her body seemed to hold her still, but her mind was frantic to leave. “Don’t worry and don’t be afraid. He is right now observing you and trying to gather information of your pasts, of your fears, of your strengths, and of sorrows. He is the one that will bestow your powers which you will utilize in your work. These powers are your Gifts of Innocence. You must now open your hearts, minds, and souls, and accept the Gift of Innocence as parts of you now.” Harper looked up to the Benefactor, her heart hammering in her chest. Don't be afraid? He? She wanted to speak out, to inform this maniac that she did not believe in God anymore... but she couldn't. It was as if her tongue had swollen and become lead in her mouth.

And then the glowing was over, and the man in the white gloves nearly fell over. Luckily, Nick managed to run over and catch him. As though it could not get any weirder, the Benefactor then began to go from person to person, telling them their new 'power', as if the circle had done something to them. Harper frowned just slightly, her heart still fluttering in her chest as he went from person to person. Harper listened carefully, confused but unable to stop watching as the man moved from person to person. There was no way that this was real... was it? A warm tingle in her body radiated over her, though that could have been the cold chills that raced up her arms. Harper listened intently to the woes and problems of the others around her. A toxic friendship. Abuse. Loss. Pain-- they all seemed to have that one in common. Her heart began to go out to her co-workers. Co-workers? Was.. she accepting? If what this man was saying was true.. how could she deny him? The chance to help others.. the chance to be empowered. It was as the Benefactor was explaining the problems and details of each person that Harper began to grow nervous. He was outing all of them. There would be no more secrets left in the room. Her thoughts went to her job, and what these people would think of her the moment she was revealed.

The man beside her was next, and she listened as his life in the mafia was revealed. Her stomach turned over-- she was next. The Benefactor came to stand in front of her, as tears brimmed in her eyes. She was terrified, but also mortified at her own past. She was not proud, by any means, about what he was about to say. “You’ve been in a lot of raping and prostitution business haven’t you? You feel worthless thinking that being a whore is your only worth and you’ve even panicked about that job of yours haven’t you?" As if on cue, her phone began to vibrate violently in her pocket. Time was up. Time to make a choice. "Don’t answer the call. You have another home now. Harper listened as silent tears rolled down her cheeks, slowly nodding her head in acceptance. She bit her bottom lip to stable herself, convinced instantly as she made eye contact with him that he was telling the truth. " You can help others by being the Empowerer. You are similar to Hailey in that you will help others get up from their sulking, agony, and lack of confidence. You will guide those who were lost, thrown away, and shunned by society to a new direction in life. Your Gift of Innocence, "Listen Well," enables you to allow the person you are talking to listen and obey your advice and commands. There are however, limitations to this power as the person must be able to actually hear it. Unlike the others you will search out those in the town rather than have your clients directed to you. We must always remember there are those who do not wish to actively change their fates, as you should know from experience.”

As the Benefactor moved on to the next person, she released the breath she did not know she had been holding and quickly reached up to her face to wipe at the tears that had been streaming down her cheeks. She let out a sigh, suddenly feeling incredibly drained from the emotional trauma she had suffered over the past few minutes. After everyone was finished finding out their powers, Nick revealed his and the Benefactor asked the age-old question: "Any more questions?" Harper had to laugh- it was too comical not to. "Why was I chosen?" Came from across the room, a fair question. Then, as if it was the most hilarious thing in the world, she began to laugh even more, adding, "Yes, I have one too.. and only one! Why does the elevator not work?"

ImageShe liked where she was, but of course she had to follow the others even though the desire wasn't there. "Rosalina," hearing her name to turned to the owner of the voice, "when you get done... meet me in line." Nodding her head with a big smile she watched as the girl skipped away to Nick and then looked back at Noah. "I think this is where we separate." With a sheepish smile she placed her hands on the ground to help push herself to her feet. The confusion about how she felt about Noah, she loved him, but at the same time there was resentment and hate. Rosa knew she'd forgive him though, him being around her made her want to forgive him, but a small voice told her not to. She sighed as she took Noah's arm and helped him up. "I'll see you in a second!" Scurrying away from him she dashed to Grey's side in silence as they walked up the stairs. I'm going to die! She walked a lot, but she didn't like to walk up so many stairs. She wanted to complain so bad as she forced herself up all the flights, but restrained from it.

When walking into what she assumed was the Benefactor's office her lower jaw dropped, How lovely! The room was so large and big and floor of decorations, What a lovely vase! Is her thought as she walked in to see a white vase with floral design on it sitting on a oak table. She touched the vase, So smooth. With out meaning to she stroked to hard causing the vase to fall begin falling. She tried her best to stop it, fumbling so with her hands, but in the end it crashed with a loud pow! "Oops! With the crash she slowly pushed through people until she was to Noah's side. "Hiya!" She said quietly to him with a small wave to his side. When the Benefactor took a stand in front of them all she let her eyes prance over to his direction. He's kinda cute. With the thought she did cheek him out as well as listen. He watched Nicholas and Scarlet move from the group over away as the Benefactor placed his hands out in front of him, Nice gloves. With his hands out the room caught a soft glow, warmth, and a light breeze. What's going on? As the air blew she used both of her hands to hold it from flying around in the relaxing type state the setting was. As the warmth took over she shut her eyes feeling calm. “Don’t worry and don’t be afraid. He is right now observing you and trying to gather information of your pasts, of your fears, of your strengths, and of sorrows. He is the one that will bestow your powers which you will utilize in your work. These powers are your Gifts of Innocence. You must now open your hearts, minds, and souls, and accept the Gift of Innocence as parts of you now.” Open up, He? Are these gifts from God? Her eyes were already shut and she took in the warmth of the glow. Through every inch of her being did she feel the warmth invading her, causing her to full completely open with it and herself. The warmth didn't last as long as she wished, it faded and left her feeling different perhaps. Opening her eyes she watched Nick and the Benefactor slightly converse.

The Benefactor then walked towards her surprisingly, Why is he coming to me, Feeling a little nervous her hand was back being encased in her hair. “Rosalina, you’ve lost money and your life has gone in all sorts of directions, but now you can help others who were put in the same situation. You will be working very closely with an old friend of yours.” "Old friend?" Whispering so to herself she looked over to Noah with a soft smile, We'll be working closer than I thought. When the man went on to talk about what Noah's job would be she new it'd be perfect for him. "Medicine man, sounds pretty interesting." Winking at Noah she nudged him slightly with her elbow in a playful manner.

"This is fuckery!" Jasper breathed with wide unblinking eyes as fear engulfed his entire being. The floor emitted a light that surround the group in rays of sea-green brilliance as wind caressed his porcelain skin, and just like that, the shroud of light covered him in a veil of crimson. The same happening to Maki, but in a mint green aura instead. However, his fear was extinguished only slightly when the light slowly faded. Jasper's hand flew to his face, touching the flesh to assure that nothing was amiss. He was enveloped in the initial shock of the floor glowing. He gazed at the strange man, quizzically as he when from screw up to screw up, nit picking at their problems and bestowing ‘gifts’ upon them. It wasn’t until he stopped at Jasper that the younger man finally released the breath that he didn’t realize he’d been holding.

“I am someone who knows that you were blamed of murder incorrectly due to misunderstanding.

"What the— “ but Jasper was too speechless to finish his sentence. How did he know that? This couldn’t be happening. No, this belonged in a syfy movie, not real life. He glanced around as a plethora of hues surrounded each individual in cloaks of luminescent light. He thought about what the man said. So, he had a gift…maybe this wasn’t so bad, He could feel it, chilling his bones and climbing up his back like a parasite. His eyes itched, but he resisted the urge to rub them as his blue orbs flashed to an inky black that consumed his eyeballs. Then, just as quickly as it appeared, his pitch-black eyes were gone and his azure gaze was back on his pale face without him realizing.

Meanwhile, Makoto’s heart was pounding in his chest like a jackhammer. His sun-kissed skin was flushed from both shock and excitement. He was almost giddy with the fact that he was being granted a second chance. The gift was merely a bonus. He glanced at Daniel, searching his unreadable face for any sign of emotion. “Man, we get powers, this is awesome.” Maki beamed in glee. "Dude, you are way too happy about this." Daniel chuckled. Maki simply shrugged. His gaze glinted in amusement before moving to Jasper.

Jasper was calmer than before, finally able to cope with this phenomenon. When The Benefactor asked if they had any questions, Jasper was about raise his hand when some loud mouth brunette stole his thunder. He raised a brow as she spoke.

"Why was I chosen?"

Jasper furrowed his brows, not holding back the thoughts that flew through his head. “Apparently, you weren’t paying attention when this guy,” he gestured to The Benefactor. “Was giving an overview of everyone’s life story. Obviously, simple bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here.” He turned his gaze to the head-honcho, “I have a real question, Mr. B,” He said in irritation. “Can I just get the hell out of here?” He didn’t wait for a response before he shook his head, waving his hand as he turned for the door. ”You know, what? You don’t even have to answer that. I’m going to just go.” With that, he left without another word. Maki glanced at The Benefactor and shrugged, innocently.

"So, you're the asshole that kidnapped me...who the hell do you think you are?"

Daniel was barely able to stifle a laugh as Mr. Doom and Gloom hollered at the blonde man in front of the desk. Well, I wouldn’t call him an asshole, Daniel mused, but he could’ve called or something. Sent out a memo. Despite his sarcasm, Daniel was a bit on edge. Never in his life had he met these people and yet here they all were, brought here by one guy hell bent on giving them a second chance. It all seemed a little too hard to believe.

At the sound of the man clearing his throat, Daniel’s eyes were drawn to him, giving him his undivided attention. “Welcome. My name is Sylvester Cromwell but I am usually addressed as The Benefactor. Although some of you may know that from reading the letter. Before we begin, I should let you know that should you desire to return to your rooms, the room number is placed in the back of the letter. If you by chance did not read your letter in your room or did not bring it with you and don’t remember your room, I will give it to you before we give you a tour of the places you will be working in the town.”

The Benefactor motioned to the fiery redhead and the flirtatious man to move aside, and Daniel’s brow cocked in curiosity, moving forward as instructed despite his immediate inclination to back away. The Benefactor held up his gloved hands, palms pointed at the group of strangers that seemed to have huddled together since the beginning of the man’s introductory speech. Daniel felt a strange presence as the tension in the room shifted, a faint wind picking up around them as the books rattled on their shelves. Daniel’s eyes flickered about the room, taking in everything but saying nothing as he felt something tug on his heartstrings. A faint glow came from underneath The Benefactor and the recruits. It was misshapen, but there was a light jade spell circle with intricate symbols that reminded him of something he saw on Supernatural. The same glow shrouded Daniel, cloaking him and a few others in its luminosity as they began to panic. To his own surprise, Daniel wasn’t as freaked out as he ought to be.

However, the Benefactor was quick to reassure them, “Don’t worry and don’t be afraid.

Who the fuck is He, Daniel mused, a little taken aback. Regardless, as the Benefactor closed his eyes, the aura around Daniel began to change. What was once a brilliant light emerald glow had transformed into a vivid orange radiance shrouding his feet. But at his feet it stayed. Nope, nope, nu-uh. I am not accepting any weird ass powers from some unnamed He.

Man, we get powers, this is awesome.” Maki beamed in glee. Daniel glanced in his friend’s direction, taking his giddiness in with a chuckle. It was endearing, to say the least, to see this timid young man so adamant about receiving his gift.

Dude, you are way too happy about this.” Daniel replied as he was engulfed entirely in that iridescent tangerine resonance. He glanced down, looking at his palms as they shined brighter than the rest of him. Turning his palms upwards, he caught sight of two symbols being engraved in light. He winced as the symbols were scorched into the flesh—on his left was the astronomical symbol for Mars, on the right it was the symbol for Venus. What the hell? He mused, shaking them feverishly until they dissipated. There was no mark left behind, no scar left in its wake even though he’d experienced the sensation of being branded.

Quickly, Daniel glanced over at Maki, catching sight of a bright mint aura shrouding his form. Further in his peripheral he saw the man he sang to earlier become engulfed in a sinister crimson glow, like the color of blood. He suppressed a shiver as the man’s cerulean gaze was dipped in jet blank ink, the substance nearly brimming over the edge of his eyelids. Daniel panted slightly, his throat constricting in near fright. Then, all the light vanished as The Benefactor nearly collapsed. The pretty boy quickly rushed to his side and helped him up, the older man responding with a near silent ‘Thank you’.

Daniel straightened himself up, wiping the palms of his hands against the front of his jeans. He ignored the man as he moved to each one of them separately. Though a part of him was just dying to know what they had done to get themselves caught up in this situation. But Daniel was dealing with his own problems at the moment, muttering to himself in an attempt to figure out why those symbols had been on their hands and what exactly this so-called ‘gift’ was. His interest sparked as The Benefactor stood in front of his friend, withholding his own surprise to discover that Maki had once been in The Mafia. And then the gloomy fellow…. Convicted of a crime he didn’t commit? Daniel was in awe. These people were in much deeper shit than he was. His life wasn’t perfect by any means, but in comparison…

And then The Benefactor stopped in front of him. “Finally Daniel, the man who was supposed to have been a father.” Once again, Daniel felt his airway constrict. His jaw clenched in pent up aggression, his first initial reaction being to strike the man standing before him. “I’m so sorry about the miscarriage and your wife. Trust me, I know how it feels to lose your significant other.” Daniel averted his gaze for a moment, his fists clenching despite the man’s apology. He only finally met the man’s gaze when he knocked himself out of his own reverie. Daniel collected himself, stowing away his anger as his curiosity reared its ugly head. “Anyway, you will be a Fertility Specialist, being able to let others have children the way they want them to be and at any time they wish for the baby to develop. The clients will also be able to pick specific traits for their unborn child. It should be noted that you can only induce pregnancy on willing women. And I would advise you please, do not make any of my staff pregnant. It would be very troublesome to have many little children even though Kaylee would love to have siblings.”

Daniel smirked, despite himself, ducking his head as the man backed away. He listened passively as the pretty boy recruiter, known as Nicholas, shared his own life story—appropriate, Daniel decided, since everyone else’s was put on display. He was slightly bitter about that, but as The Benefactor asked for any questions, the scene that ensued brought that lopsided grin back on his face.

"Why was I chosen?”

"Apparently, you weren’t paying attention when this guy,” Jasper gestured to The Benefactor. "Was giving an overview of everyone’s life story. Obviously, simple bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here,” Daniel suppressed a laugh, covering his smile with his palm as the gloomy guy looked to the guy in charge, "I have a real question, Mr. B. Can I just get the hell out of here?” He didn’t wait for a response before he shook his head, waving his hand as he turned for the door. "You know, what? You don’t even have to answer that. I’m going to just go.” Daniel watched him leave, his eyes lingering as well as the smile on his face, slightly bemused as his mystery lady followed after his mystery guy.

"Yes, I have one too.. and only one! Why does the elevator not work?”

Daniel immediately turned his head. His expression was comically serious as he raised his hand half-hearted, holding up a finger to interject, “I agree with the former hooker,” he blurted out, “Why is that a thing?” he asked, with a shrug, shoving his hands in his pockets. “I don’t know, it just seems like a lot of walking.”

ImageScarlet waited patiently as Sylvester did all his magic tricks and moved aside even before he signaled her and Nick to do so. As she always did before the empowering, she listened cautiously almost studying every words muttered as he gifted each and everyone in the room. As predicted some were baffled and startled while others were scared out of their wits. She smiled in amusement at the scene, this was always her favorite part of her job after all. She saw Nick glancing at some girls, as always, and rolled her eyes at the flirting fool.

Obviously she did not say anything when Sylvester signaled her to reveal her own... gift, 'they'll find out sooner or later...' was all she could think of.

Finally she heard some recruits ask questions, 'that's a new one...' she thought sarcastically. Grey asked about why she had been chosen while Harper asked about the elevator, Scar let out a laugh at that one but nobody seemed to hear it as they were all still focused on Sylvester. She couldn't help but to grin as Jasper dissed her too, "Obviously, simply bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here," but it wasn't until he tried leaving that her mood was truly ruined. Immediately Scarlet followed the guy outside Sylvester's office and quickly blocked the guy who was about her height, with the help of her high-heels of course. She almost let out a growl in annoyance, from the beginning they had not gotten off the right foot with his "Eat shit and die" and her "Fuck you".

"Look asshole or broken toy whichever suits your delicate needs." she said almost throwing knives, "I could give less of a shit about your tantrums and your oh so dramatics, in fact they are quite enjoyable, keeps things interesting anyways. But, you are going nowhere, not now that you have been given your power" she paused for a second but not long enough to let him to interrupt her. "You just said so yourself, everyone you just saw in there and myself included are indeed fucked up in ways that not even you could imagine" she paused for a moment finally letting go of her tight grip on his shoulder. "But this is your last chance and that's all you've got left".

The redhead moved back giving her back to Jasper returning to Sylvester's office.

Alton felt his body tense up when the surroundings began lighting up. That wasn’t a good thing, glowing people were never a good thing, they weren’t good in tele programs, and they weren’t good in the real world either. He glanced around at the others, each of them seemed to be experiencing the same phenomenon as he was. Each of them glowing and reacting in their own time. The Benefactor and those other two didn’t seem bothered by the occurrence, despite The Benefactor also glowing, so Alton forced himself to relax. Though he admitted that the temperamental man was interesting, his anger was interesting. He seemed like the type of person that wasn’t afraid to hit, and by the looks of it he could probably pack quite the punch.

He was distracted from the angry man when the glowing subsided that The Benefactor began talking again. It seemed each of these people had their own background, their own stories of pain and hardship, just has Alton had. He listened carefully though, identifying each face with their pain, he could probably do a few profiles from memory, distort them with their issues. He wondered if that was immoral, of disturbed, but he decided no one would see them in the end so it wouldn’t matter what they thought.

He felt a wave rock his body, it was cool and slow and dissipated just as The Benefactor turned his attention towards him and a ditzy looking girl, her name was Fiona. He hadn’t a care for the job he was given, he had never really cared for animals before, but he supposed he could have gotten a worse job. He eyed up his supposed partner again, she seemed like she could be tolerable to work with. “Alton, you will help Fiona rescue animals from their various dangerous situations. To aid you, you will have the ability to not feel any pain, for you have been abused too many times without reason. It should be noted that the effect of feeling no pain lasts both in and out of the job. Make sure however that you rest periodically.”

Alton felt himself pale, his fingers twitched and he felt his fingers move back to his forearm, his fingers digging into his skin. There was nothing though, just a soft pressure against his arm. It was dull and offered none of the relief he usually got to scratching. He bite his lip, eyes darting around the room for a moment, he felt very twitchy and very uncomfortable standing in that room. He looked at The Benefactor, if this man had known so much about him why would he be given a gift that went so entirely against everything that kept him stable. He watched as Jasper left, seeing an opening for him to get out as well.

“I’m getting out of here too.” He muttered as he shoved his hands in his pockets before making a beeline for the door. He felt like he was on the verge of a panic attack, not to mention it was turning into a sob fest in there, something he wasn’t too keen about sticking around for. He began towards the door when the red headed woman slipped ahead of him. He walked out just as she was stepping aside. His eyes flickered between the two of them. Both seemed rather abrasive and crude, traits that he admired in people, and he cleared his throat. “Listen, I’m just going to go back to my flat, the atmosphere in there right now is pitiful and I don’t want to deal with it. So if you don’t mind, I’m going to try to come to terms with the fact that pain isn’t available to me anymore.”

The dark haired man felt his fingers move back down to his forearm, his nails digging into his skin and him not being able to feel the acute pain it should have been producing.

Image“Apparently, you weren’t paying attention when this guy,” Grey tucked her hair behind her ear and listened to the boy. “Was giving an overview of everyone’s life story. Obviously, simple bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here.” She didn't let Jasper's rudeness faze her, she had been listening to the Benefactor with open ears and noticed him saw how the rude young man had been blamed for a murder he had convicted, meaning he had been convicted for years and probably still mad at the world for it. His words actually made her feel better, they were a reality check to the bigger picture. She simpered genuinely and walked slowly over to her new boss. "You've saved me a few years of school," she was going to begin giving him the thank you he wholeheartedly deserved, "since you know a lot I assume you know how I've been studying psychology in hopes to one day become a psychologist, well basically you've given me the chance to be one in a way." Laughing at the thought of all the studying she had done to let finally have the chance handed to her by a stranger felt extremely good, "So thank you, and I appreciate my gift, I hope having it will help me open up my true emotions to myself as it helps me do so with others." She had never doubted in complete about this, but it turned out better than she thought. She was in a way pleased by this all.

Just like Nicky she hasn't gotten to introduce herself, she was already known which still didn't count as really introducing in her book, and she felt like the Benefactor should get one for helping her. Holding her hand out to him she cocked her head to the right slightly and smiled, "I'm Grey, and I think it's going to be an honor working for you." Letting her hand slowly fall back to her side she decided she might continue talking to the man, she felt like she owed him something in return and at the moment she had nothing to give. "Before I was brought here," saying so she shot a glance at Nicky before returning her eyes back to the blonde man, "I owned my own coffee shop... which I think you already know as well." What do you say to a man that you think knows your whole life story? Grey didn't know this answer, and neither did she notice the soft warmth her eyes were taking on as she steadily grew more fond and comfortable of the place. "I guess that's a long winded way of saying I know how to brew great coffee and have never really had a boss. Well, at the library I worked at I technically had one, but we never spoke. I'd just go in and place books where they belonged..." squinting and a playful point of a finger at him she laughed some, "but I'm sure you knew that too, Mr. Benefactor." She didn't think she had to add the mister, but she wanted to. She liked the thought of having someone in charge over her so she didn't have to make any decisions for her own.

"Oh!" She said with the thought of decisions, "My closet, I think it's broken." With the ending she made a funny face of how that sounded, Oh yes my good sir, you see my closet has decided not to give me clothing like a good closet should. She shuck her head, "I mean it only had one outfit in it, this," saying so as she gestured to what she was dressed in, "will I only be receiving an outfit a day or will I get more clothing. And also, if I only do get one outfit who picks it out?" The topic was more for conversation the question. She didn't care if she got one outfit a day or was stuck in one outfit the rest of her life. Grey wouldn't mind if she just received one outfit, all that meant was she wouldn't have to stress to find a appropriate outfit for each day, it'd just be there waiting for her in the closet. Also, she couldn't complain about her closets sense of style. What she had on was nice and looked good on her, she probably wouldn't have been able to pick something so simple out herself in a million years. A more important question, at least to her, rose to mind. "I chugged a whole bottle of something in my fridge, why am I not drunk?" It had to have been at least an hour and she figured the alcohol would have worked its way into her system, all she felt was warm and almost happy inside, like she never had before. "What was it, happy juice?" Asking as soon as she had thought of it she raised a brow. Maybe it had been, the lack of her drunkenness and the raise of her mood would lead to such hypothesis. It could have been some drug... The bottle had had words on it, but she didn't read it though, she didn't find it important at the time, but now she was second guessing herself for drinking it.

Novia allowed herself to be herded up the next four flights of stairs along with the others, cautiously remaining at the back of the pack to judge them all quietly. She somewhat enjoyed Scarlet's no-nonsense attitude, though she'd have to say that the seemingly kind Nicholas was her favorite while the smoking douchebag was her least favorite. With her hood off she was able to catch a better glimpse of the people around her - An even number of males and females. Strange. She noticed a bubbly girl immediately taking to Nicholas' side, flirting with him right off the bat. I've never seen a nose that brown on a girl so white. She snickered in her thoughts, shaking her head. Before she could assess the others, they arrived at their destination.

She found herself at the end of the formed line as they came into the Benefactor's office, expecting a slightly uninspiring speech. Which she was mostly right about. But what threw her off was the light snaking around her - The Benefactor said it was getting to know her to determine what power she would get. Once more she felt vulnerable and exposed, though it spiked her anger more this time as she clenched her fists. She forced herself to listen as he assessed everyone, making mental notes who to stay away from. And then. He came to her.

You will persuade them with "Do we have an accord?" and the item is yours! I trust that you are smart enough to know the correct amount to negotiate for, as you will have a budget to abide by.”

She almost couldn't believe her ears, taking a few steps back. Legal citizenship...? Supernatural negotiation powers...? Did he really want to give that to her? As she mulled over the situation, she realized that everyone was talking now. Well. She was done here. “Well, as much as I'd love to stay and join you all in being harassed and degraded by Nero of the 21st Century, I think I can manage to find something more stimulating to help me grasp onto what's going on. Thanks for the stuff, by the way. Love the kitchen design. But I really want my Audi back.” She was really beginning to wish she could find her gun right about now. But she would have to settle for something more productive.

Tipping a lazy salute, she politely made her way past everyone and left, going back the way that she had come with everyone else. Her key was drawn out of her pocket as she came to her door and went inside. Once more she was greeted by a vision of perfection. She left the door open some as she walked by the counter, dropping her keys there and kicking off her shoes. She headed back to her amazing room, dropping her clothes and tossing them in a hamper to trade in for yummy pajamas and a bandana. Her path was made to the kitchen where she worked fast to set out a dinner for herself. Steak, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, cheese, and tortillas surrounded her as she soon filled her new home with the sound of chopping and singing.

Image"It's not that easy," Noah was a bit surprised at her snapping at him and he wasn't really trying to put it the wrong way. He really did love Rosalina but, somehow he managed to fall out of love with her just because, of a little anxiety -that was probably an side effect from the drugs he was abusing. It made him twitch a little, not out of anger but, from past issues he didn't want to fix. "You know I loved you more than anything! I would have done anything for you, but you repaid me by leaving without reason-" He didn't say anything. How could he? He thought he deserved this. After he left her like that.

But, even if he thought of this now, he's going to forget and deny it in the end. Noah was always, Noah. He would be with anyone he pleased to be with and he'd do what he want, when he had wanted and he didn't care who hated it. That was him, the typically bad boy, the bad influence, the heart breaker; it was pretty funny because, he had no control over his life. His life was the video game and somewhere inside him was the controller.

"I still love you, and I probably always will. No matter how hard it is I have to learn to live with that." Looking down at her as she laid her head on his knee, he wanted to say sorry but, for some reason he couldn't bring himself to say it. It shocked him to hear that she still loved him and it kind of made him want to smile. But, he didn't. He truthfully had no idea what he had felt about her after all these years -since he was literally blinded by drugs and many other things that he'd been hooked on even before he met Rosalina. This love thing was really confusing to him, he knew how it felt but, he didn't know what it was.

"You have to live with hurting me though," Biting his lip, now that she said that, he is already living with hurting her, it got to him. He didn't like when other people were hurt, and he was one of those people who had hurt a lot of people just by dragging them down into his shitty life and leaving them there when he didn't think it was too late to leave. Running his hands through his hair,"I loved you more than anyone could ever love you and you left." He knew she loved him but, he didn't know she would be hurting -from him leaving- this much, even until now, and he hated seeing her like this. He didn't like seeing her cry, he tried his best to comfort her and rub her back gently. "I-"

"Good, okay folks it's time to go meet your new boss! Scar you can lead the boys first, I'll stay behind the girls to make sure they're protected." Looking over at the guy that walked in, he guessed he was the one that worked at this place. He then turned his head towards Rosalina and smiled as she grinned. "You're the only person I know here making us automatic best friends," He raised one of his eyebrows in confusion,"this time you just can't get up and leave me either, Noah." His eyes widened slightly as she kissed his cheek. He wondered how she had changed her mood so quickly. He had a feeling that it was his fault but, he didn't know why.

"How do I look though," He looked at her for a moment,"You look good." He smiled, remembering how important impressions were to her. "I can't make a bad first impression. You know how I am with impressions! Are my eyes red or puffy? Do I look pretty?" Chuckling at Rosalina,"No your eyes are fine and yes you do." Still the same girl he first met, it still was confusing how quick she altered her mood and he didn't want to bother her anymore by asking questions. "By the way you look perfect, very presentable!" Smiling, at the compliment, he still remembered every one of her words from a few minutes ago. He needed a smoke he need relief he needed something. "I think this is where we separate." Maybe he could get rid of this stress after he meets this Benefactor. Letting her help him up, he smiled and then he nodded. "I'll see you in a second!" He followed the nice looking redhead to a nice looking office, still hating the fact that the damn elevator was broken.

“Welcome. My name is Sylvester Cromwell but I am usually addressed as The Benefactor. Although some of you may know that from reading the letter. Before we begin, I should let you know that should you desire to return to your rooms, the room number is placed in the back of the letter. If you by chance did not read your letter in your room or did not bring it with you and don’t remember your room, I will give it to you before we give you a tour of the places you will be working in the town.” Damn, well he didn't read the part about bringing the damn letter, and he didn't really need a number he just needed to remember where he was at and go backwards. Noah did have a band to take care of so, he didn't want to stay here for long. He didn't think this would help him, he actually thought this was a waste of time. Wait, no. I take that back. How much time did he have to waste?

Looking down and then up at the male walking towards him,”Noah, you've abused drugs and even conjured your own, sometimes bringing others with you to your downfall. Make sure you take some funds with Rosalina.” Well, damn. Just put his business out there for the world to know. This was an easy job for him actually but, potions? Also, what type of problems would he be helping people with? He was a hard worker but, when it came to people and communication, he just wasn't good at it. Some of them might have nasty attitudes and he wasn't going to deal with that shit, and some of them might talk too damn much. Hell. This was better than going to some therapist, telling him some lies and giving him medication that he was probably going to sell.

Well, he guessed it made sense, it still freaked him the hell out but, he tried his best to keep that to himself. He wasn't going anywhere, he's been trying to get clean but, the more he tried the worse he got. So if it took kidnapping to get him to stay clean, the so be it. "Medicine man, sounds pretty interesting." Looking over at Rosalina, he smiled at the playful nudge. "I need a stress reliever." He mumbled, saying that to no one in particular.

"Plus, not everyone loves me. You should know that Aradia," with those words, Aradia flinches slightly, feeling a cut through her just as painful as it ought to be. She can't help but feel it to be an attack on herself, and bites the inside of her cheek so sharply that it feels as though it will bleed, clearing her mind with the passing pain. She's about to make some defensive statement, twice as sharp against the girl who doesn't have armor nearly as strong as the one that Aradia has come to wear every day. Too bad the armor didn't protect her from the bandaged wounds littering her still sore body. The girl moves slightly, taking a step back with her left leg, but this causes her to wince, feeling the pain of the deep cut in that leg, which rubs a bit against the gauze and is therefore irritated. "People love you too Aradia," Hailey adds in a gentle tone, but it only injures the bitter girl further, watching this person as she, in Aradia's mind, lies straight to her face. The slight softening she might have felt from the earlier statement, the fleeting vulnerability founded from surprise, is immediately sealed up as tightly as Aradia can manage to seal it. She retreats back within the mental armor like a child under their blankets to hide from the morning light or from monsters they imagine- from imaginary enemies dancing in the shadows across the wall.

"What a pretty fantasy," Aradia shoots back finally, the response clearly delayed by thought but said with a malice that cuts as poorly as a dull knife, but can spread sickness like a rusty one. Hailey is naive, that much Aradia has known ever since she first met the pretty little fool, but she never thought her so oblivious as to think that anyone might love her- that anyone might love Aradia, that is. Not as they love Hailey, the gentle girl who is a bit sick in the head, but saccharine enough to draw close a family and, before Aradia, some semblance of a life. Hasn't Hailey already received a chance for a second life, with that ideal family she was placed with and unconditionally accepted by? It burns in Aradia's veins, the knowledge that Hailey, for all of the luck that Aradia perceives in her, should be given the same second chance as a girl who grew up to the sound of broken glasses and tearing skin.

Now brooding, Aradia ignores Hailey's reassurance that the letter may have been accidentally forgotten, or that Aradia might not have seen it. Rather, she looks straight ahead upon the mention of continuing onward by those who seem to know precisely what they are doing. A lack of elevator is no concern to Aradia- her own apartment building's elevator was in a perpetual state of disrepair, and even when the management claimed that it was functional, only the bravest, or newest, of tenants would dare step foot in the suspicious -at best- vehicle. More than one person had been injured when it malfunctioned, and the machine was known to suddenly break down, leaving people stranded for time spanning from five minutes to five hours.

Almost immediately upon entering the room, Aradia's attention is grabbed by a young man who accuses an older man- the benefactor- of kidnapping them. Of course, that is the only word that can be used to describe the situation, and the young woman silently shares the anger and curiosity- not that she has a better place to return to. Aradia looks away from the Benefactor when he makes a note for the benefit of those who might not have found their letter, embarrassed and certainly not going to ask after her room number- she had memorized it before leaving anyway, not so careless as to leave without knowing it, even if she had planned to leave for good.

Any thoughts that Aradia may have had in regards to this strange man who introduced himself as Sylvester and then, after that, the Benefactor, are immediately chased away by confusion and gripping fear when the room is used as a dance hall for mysterious winds and stage for a green light to illuminate, coming from beneath them and sending an inexplicable chill down the redhaired girl's spine. I need to get out of here, she thinks, shivering still. The Benefactor speaks cryptically, referring to some being, some Him, without giving any actual details- only causing Aradia to feel a growing amount of suspicion about all of this. She suddenly fears that this is some sort of human trafficking ring after all, and they've put on a strangely grand show in order to daze and drug those who are soon to be their victims. Her instinct is to cling to the familiar- but the girl is far too proud, despite her immense insecurities, to turn to Hailey- weak Hailey, whom she carefully continues to ignore.

When addressed, along with Hailey and a girl apparently named Grey, Aradia feels stiff, standing perfectly still and keeping her eyes just above the Benefactor's head- as though afraid to meet his eyes, and the warmth in them that is too alien in anyone but Hailey. Once more, she feels as though his words are an attack on her, and frowns slightly at the mention of the flaws in their friendship- as if she isn't acutely aware of them, far more so than Hailey, the victim in the situation.

When he addresses her, personally, the girl is overcome with a sudden heat. It is not the warmth of the magic, but a sudden angry wave crashing over her head and threatening to eclipse her, as he points out that her problem is not being satisfied with her life, and then being jealous of others. Others have been told of horrible things happening to them, and yet she is accused- that is how the girl views it, anyway. She grits her teeth in anger, clenching her fists. Fuck you. Not satisfied with my life? How would you know, living in suits and comfort? You want me to be satisfied? You want me to be okay? I've tried. I didn't want this. I didn't fucking ask for this. I've tried to escape- it isn't my fault that through some sick joke, I've never been able to. Fuck you. Trying to help me? You're just like everyone else, her thoughts are vehement, and yet her exterior is the image of placid. Not a single one of those words is let slip out of her mind, because she is nothing if not controlled. He gives her her ability, and she can feel a searing pain on her hand, but doesn't care- her fists are already curled so tightly that her fingernails dig little crescents into her palms.

Why? My second chance is to be a better friend? It's just for Hailey, isn't it? I'm not being saved from people who beat me and hate me. I'm not being saved from trying to kill myself. They're just saving Hailey. It's always Hailey.

For the rest of the little gathering, Aradia doesn't say a word. She simply stares at the ground, her face almost void of emotions and her eyes just hollow enough to hide the anger that would otherwise burn in them- the passion put out by tears long ago. Aradia doesn't want to work with other people, and she doesn't want to be part of this savior program- not part of this man's god-complex or his quest to become some sort of false martyr. She just wants to leave. She wishes that this had been some sort of plot to harvest her organs and leave her dead in some tub of ice somewhere, to be found by the police three weeks later. Why do they have me here any way. I'm just the fucking bad guy after all, aren't I? Just the bad guy, she thinks, wanting to run out of here as fast as possible.

She watches as one man leaves, storms out really, and wants to do the same. But Aradia doesn't move unless dismissed, standing their, limbs tightened and knots likely building in her back- as though there aren't too many of them there for a girl her age already. She wants to break things, or to do something violent- something to relieve her anger. Other people begin to excuse themselves as well, and she takes that as a sign that she can leave. The girl doesn't make a comment on her way out, just turning around and walking away silently. However, she only makes it down one flight of stairs before, certain that there is no one with her, she falls to her knees and begins to punch the wall violently, putting her strength and anger into it and hurting her knuckles rather badly, no doubt. "Fuck. It's always Hailey. I might as well go back home- at least they don't knows she exists there. Why couldn't I have just died in that stupid alley? Why didn't they ever just punch hard enough to kill?"
Losing the strength in her arm, she begins to use her head, hitting it against the wall over and over, as though that will help make the rage and the self-pitying go away.

"Everyone else is some sob story- I'm just the villain they're trying to reform."

She listened as the girl said she was fine but she sort of knew better then to believe it. But, it was not her place to pry on someone else's private business... Especially when she didn't even know the girl. She shook Harper's hand as she introduced herself which made the British girl relax a bit. At least someone wasn't being hostile towards everyone else. Hating everything and everyone just because they were pissed off about being here. She chatted with the girl, telling her about her room before seeing Harper be bumped by a small Hispanic looking girl who, she assumed apologized to Harper. Who didn't seem to mind very much to say much about it. She stayed by Harper before finally seeing the adults return into the room. She looked at the small young girl and assumed she must have been here already or was related to one of the adults. No child could loss their innocence so much at such a young age that they needed to come here...

And then after a moment of not paying attention, she saw all the boys go with Scarlett while the girl stayed behind with Nicolas. She watched as Grey and Nicolas talked while she just awkwardly waited to get an explanation. And finally, they began moving and made it to an office who she could bet was the boss of everyone here and was the person who sent the two to go and get everyone here. Once entering she found a man who began to speak to the large group. “Welcome. My name is Sylvester Cromwell but I am usually addressed as The Benefactor. Although some of you may know that from reading the letter. Before we begin, I should let you know that should you desire to return to your rooms, the room number is placed in the back of the letter. If you by chance did not read your letter in your room or did not bring it with you and don’t remember your room, I will give it to you before we give you a tour of the places you will be working in the town.” She looked at the top of the letter seeing her room number before returning her gaze up to the man who continued to speak. She honestly didn't bat an eye at the job, she never had an actually job but she did enough around her home and for her protest to know exactly what to do. She watched as Sylvester put his gloved hands out in front of him, making her raise an eyebrow. Soon a bright glowing light began to wrap around all the young adults. To her, she was wonder what it was. She was a curious person and she wanted ask him what he was doing but she couldn't find the words. “Don’t worry and don’t be afraid. He is right now observing you and trying to gather information of your pasts, of your fears, of your strengths, and of sorrows. He is the one that will bestow your powers which you will utilize in your work. These powers are your Gifts of Innocence. You must now open your hearts, minds, and souls, and accept the Gift of Innocence as parts of you now.” Looking up at him, she could have swore that now it was a dream. Powers? What was this a fairy tail?

As she begn asking questions in her head, she didn't even notice him going around to the group telling them what their so-called "powers" were. It wasn't until he stop in front of her that began paying attention to what he was saying.

She smiled towards him before seeing him move to the next person. She looked towards who she believe was Alton before offering a small smile. After that, everything kind of winded down while a the raven haired had curse up a storm before actually storming out, hopefully leaving. If he didn't want to be there and have the choice of getting whatever he lost back then let him leave. It would make her irritation go down anyways. Matter of fact, she was tried of hearing everyone bitch and complain, some saying how they wanted to go and explore while others wished to leave. Fiona? She wanted to stay here, she hated her life sometimes. People assuming that she was so perfect and such a little princess without truly getting to know her or of her scars physical and emotional scars. She had her goddamn baggage too. She could just sense people staring at her, just judging the small rag-doll girl. She looked at Harper who was still next to her before speaking to her after clearing her throat once more.

“As much as it is seeing people explode and hearing all this cursing, I think I'm going to go look around this place. But, it was very nice speaking to you, Harper. I hope to see you around.” She told her in all honest before slipping out of the office and walked towards the stairs, not really having a true destination in mind. She needed some air, so she walked towards the doors and walked into the sunlight before sighing. Letting all the anxiety just melt away from her as she looked at her phone, now seeing a message from her ballet teacher, telling that apparently her parents told her that she had broken her leg and was at home resting it. And that he hoped her star dancer felt better soon. She didn't even reply as she slide to the ground under a tree, shielding her from the sun as she just looked in her small bag and grabbed out a folded piece of paper to write down everything that had happened so far in the day.

Hailey was having a mixture of confusion and sadness, she had thought that she had said something to kind to her friend whom of which only responded to her with bitterness. "What a pretty fantasy," Her best friend had responded to her with this. Hailey flinched, frowning deeply as she wanted to apologize to her friend for maybe even saying anything bad to her, but for some reason now the one person she adores is ignoring her. This was the time that people started to get ready and everyone began moving away into groups of boys and girls. Before she knew it they were standing before the one who would give them a second chance. What ever the second chance may be. The entire way Aradia had ignored her which only irritated the girl. She began to scratch at her arms, not on purpose but because she had nothing else to do.

Upon arriving to the Benefactor's room she stood before him, moving uncomfortably around in her spot. Her arms moving harshly up and down her arms as she constantly glanced over at each person that he was speaking to. She had even managed to ignore the comment from Jasper who seemed pretty angry about being here. She stared at the ground, only feeling sadness because of her friend ignoring her. One thing most people didn't notice was that Hailey was listening and taking in this information about most people in this group. It wasn't until he moved on to her, Aradia, and another girl named Grey did she actually look up at the Benefactor with very sad eyes. I will take charge and control my destiny.” This mantra when recited helps the user to feel empowerment. The user can take charge in his or her life to the point where he/she is intimidating enough to make other people do as told. The mantra only lasts for twenty-four hours, but it can be said over and over again." He informed her what her power was and why she got the power she did. She did not understand it at all and she didn't understand why The Benefactor said that Aradia was being a jealous poisonous friend because to Hailey she was perfect. Of course she just nodded and listened as he moved on to the other few people who were left to be informed what their gift was going to be.

After everyone had their gift he soon asked if anyone had any questions and Hailey's head snapped up, hoping she could at least get one question in, but of course someone else did before her. A male's voice broke through, saying that he was done, and asking when he could get the hell out of this place. Obviously he had a chip on his shoulder that she had no interest in getting into, so she just left it be until Aradia had left with out her. Unusual for the pair to be so far apart when they both seemed to find some kind of comfort between each other. Her gaze stayed locked on Aradia as her feet seemed to be frozen to the ground, unable to move to follow close behind her. Maybe she just wanted space, maybe she wanted to be alone, or maybe she was angry with Hailey. It was unknown, and Hailey wasn't up to finding out

At once she looked at the Benefactor, tearing up just a bit. "I...I...Never mind. Excuse me, I need to... I gotta... I need to collect.. collect.. collect my thoughts." She breathed just before dragging herself out of the room. She whimpered softly to herself, leaving the crowd of people behind as she rushed down the hall and away from the people. She plopped down at the end of the hallway, just near the stairwell where she pulled her knees against her chest and trembled. "Penelope," She cried softly, reaching out for her imaginary friend and grabbing nothing. "Please Penelope," Placing her hands over her ears she pressed them over each ear in an attempt to block any kind of noise from people. Several emotions flooded her already very active mind which practically sent her into over drive. Confusion. Anger, and even sadness. She breathed heavily and even sniffled a few times as she tried to hold back the tears that were supposed to arrive this morning when she had woken up in a mysterious place. Now all of a sudden all the emotions were rising up, and she didn't know what to do.

Unlike others who may be worried about what their friends may think or what about their jobs she was thinking about her family whom of which must be worried sick. Right? Oh gosh, she didn't know what to do any more. She's so confused and you can tell by the way tears are slowly trickling out of her eyes. "Penelope!" She cried as she moved her hands from her ears and balled them up into fists which she used to smash against the ground after crying for her imaginary friend. Smashing her fists against the ground again she looked around, practically begging to see Penelope or even Aradia if she can. "Geez, love what is your problem?" She heard Penelope's voice which some what relaxed her. "I just need to talk to you. I think Aradia is mad at me." She answered Penelope. After that they had a small conversation which was basically a conversation with herself up until Penelope's voice just disappeared and Hailey was once again left to think about things. She wrapped her arms around her legs, and just cried softly as she tried to let all of her emotions go right about now.

Zeus was leaning on the wall, separating himself from everyone else up until the time that a girl had retrieved him to lead him to who was now known as The Benefactor, the one who had practically kidnapped him. He felt his hands tremble slightly as he bit the inside of his cheek and just stared at his feet as he followed quite a few feet behind her up until they got to where The Benefactor's room was. Not much later did they enter he room and pretty much make half of a circle around the older male who soon enough began talking. He explained why they were here first before moving on to talk to people specifically. Sylvester, also known as The Benefactor went through talking to everyone and giving them this thing called a gift which he still didn't fully understand. Basically he looked at everyone, listening to what The Benefactor had to say due to the fact that he needed to get to know everyone better then he actually knew them.

It wasn't until The Benefactor got to him when his eyes widened slightly. Oh no, please don't. He thought, knowing that chances were that the older male was going to tell pretty much everyone what happened to him. His breathing got only slightly heavy as the male began to explain not only his gift but why he had gotten that certain gift. He may use this power outside of work, but the people must be willing to have at least the bad memory erased for it to work." All Zeus could really do is nod once. You could tell by the way that his eyes water up ever so lightly that it really not only embarrassed him but upset him to have people know a secret about him. "Okay, thank you." He whispered as memories of his sexual abuse came rushing back to him.

Now his secret was out and obviously it frustrated him. He tuned out the older male finally as he pressed the palms of his hands against his eyes, rubbing them hard. It hurt a little, but he could care less right now. He dug his nails gently into the palm of his hand as he slowly moved them away from his eyes. Blinking a couple of times he held back the angry groan that threatened to escape him. The memories still haunt him and he could hear the awful laughter of the women who rapped him along with the laughter of his mother as she inhaled her smoke deeply before puffing it into his teary eyed face. She didn't care, no one did. His sister never knew what had happened to him, and he hoped they would never have to go through what he did. The laughter echoed in his eyes as his eyes would say momentarily locked on the ground before he would look at the other people then once again down at the ground. It was all he could do right now because he wasn't just going to randomly leave.

Once The Benefactor asked if there was any questions a male busted out with some kind of remark that he couldn't quite catch. Quirking an eyebrow at the male who soon enough stormed out in an angry rush he finally looked at The Benefactor whom he assumed would do something. For once Zeus shook his head, suddenly angry with the male. Once people began to leave and excuse himself he did the same exact thing, fleeing from the area in an attempt to avoid the sympathy that people just might give him. He really did hate when people would do that poor little sympathy thing to him. Finally he hurried away from the group, fleeing to an area that wasn't already occupied by someone. Leaning against the wall he ran a hand through his hair, looking down at the ground as he kind of just stood there by himself. Right now he didn't want to interact with anyone all he wanted to do was to just be left alone for a little while so that maybe he could push away the horrid memories.

The Benefactor didn’t have to wait long for others to respond to the mysterious happening of the office and himself. Grey had asked, "Why was I chosen?" and the Benefactor would have thought it was obvious at this point yet he opened his mouth to respond. Before he could, the Benefactor stopped as he heard laughter coming from another Harper who had only one question to ask, “Why does the elevator not work?” The Benefactor took a moment to smirk at the question, anticipating that it would come out sooner or later but not with the enthusiasm Harper had. Still he did have to explain and he would’ve if Jasper wasn’t so quick to answer Grey. “Apparently, you weren’t paying attention when this guy was giving an overview of everyone’s life story,” as he gestured to the Benefactor on cue. Obviously, simple bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here.” Afterwards he turned to the Benefactor. “I have a real question, Mr. B,” sounding irritated. The Benefactor held back his smile to the nickname, hiding the fact that he kind of liked it because he knew now was not the time. “Can I just get the hell out of here?” Jasper asked before shaking his head ,waving his hand, and walking towards the door. ”You know, what? You don’t even have to answer that. I’m going to just go.” And with that Jasper walked out of the office, the first one to leave after the empowering. The Benefactor didn’t need to signal Scarlet as she walked out of the office after Jasper. After a while, she came back in without him, unsuccessful perhaps.

In a few moments, Daniel spoke up agreeing with Harper the “former hooker.” “I don’t know, it just seems like a lot of walking,” while Rosalina and Noah had a conversation amongst themselves. Makoto seemed to be the only one who enjoyed this at this point. The Benefactor wasn’t surprised when another one, Alton, also announced that he would get out of here. “Listen, I’m just going to go back to my flat, the atmosphere in there right now is pitiful and I don’t want to deal with it. So if you don’t mind, I’m going to try to come to terms with the fact that pain isn’t available to me anymore.” The Benefactor watched Alton leave and thought, ”My, I wonder if I should’ve really done that, or rather if he should’ve given him that ability considering his…special kinship towards it. But what’s done is done and he cannot take it back.”

If the Benefactor had thought that Makoto was the one who enjoyed this he couldn’t have been more wrong when Grey had started a whole conversation to him about thanking him for saving her schooling for psychology, offering her coffee skills, introducing herself, a “broken” closet, and a bottle of wine that didn’t make her drunk. The Benefactor had taken her hand and shook it gently giving her a warm reassuring smile while she spoke, but couldn’t help raise his eyebrow and give a concerned look when she mentioned the bottle of wine.

“Grey, it is a pleasure for you to offer coffee. I’d like to take up the offer sometime if it’s no trouble, and perhaps the others would like some too. I will ask the maids to gather a list from each of you about your clothing preferences. Though, about the wine…I’m sorry to say that I didn’t put that there…” The Benefactor grew jealous for the moment. ”Of all the things I don’t give them, why did it have to be wine!” he thought. The Benefactor could feel his taste buds craving for the drink that Grey had taken up and he couldn’t help but tighten his grip, forgetting that Grey was holding onto his hands. “Ahh sorry about that miss. But I can’t inform you much on the wine.”

He was about to suggest that Novia would help the maids gather deals on the clothing but then she excused herself, in a much intelligent and sarcastic tone, “Well, as much as I'd love to stay and join you all in being harassed and degraded by Nero of the 21st Century, I think I can manage to find something more stimulating to help me grasp onto what's going on. Thanks for the stuff, by the way. Love the kitchen design. But I really want my Audi back.”

More people walked out of the office after Novia, leaving Grey, Harper, Rosalina, Noah, Daniel, Makoto, and Jang to be in the room. Aradia and Zeus left the area without a word. Fiona said a goodbye to Harper saying, “As much as it is seeing people explode and hearing all this cursing, I think I'm going to go look around this place. But, it was very nice speaking to you, Harper. I hope to see you around.” With the leave of her best friend Aradia, Hailey excused herself, "I...I...Never mind. Excuse me, I need to... I gotta... I need to collect.. collect.. collect my thoughts."
The Benefactor observed all of this, and took note of who left and who still remained. It didn’t surprise him much that some people stayed behind while others had left. This happened many times over and after experience he knew that plans don’t always go as smoothly, so he had to think of an alternative. He smiled towards Grey who was still nearby him and then addressed the crowd of young adults.

“Now, I see that we won’t be able to go have a tour around the town, which is still fine. You’re free to go and look around this weekend as your jobs don’t start until Monday. However, I see that we need to get together as a group, so I’m going to plan a little something for us to do this evening. For now, I want you to get closer to each other, especially trying to find those who have just ran off. There are no more secrets in this place anymore since we have to get close to each other. It is important that a business runs as a unit that so happens to have many components.” The Benefactor smiled, remembering that logic from his father who he had looked up to all those years ago as a child. Now it was his turn to shine, his moment of leadership. “In fact, this may also be an excellent opportunity to try out your powers if you wish, as long as the other person is willing of course. Again Daniel, I warn you on not making anyone…endowed with another person inside of them…unless they wish it upon themselves.”

Before the new recruits headed out the Benefactor quickly said, “And the reason why the elevator doesn’t work is because my father was unfortunate enough to receive this building without one and as it expended the workers couldn’t install one. I apologize for this, but in a sense it is a good way to be healthy and exercise. You never know when emergency could strike and that extra training would help.” After the new recruits filed out, The Benefactor motioned to Nick and Scar to have a meeting to themselves.

“Nicholas, Scarlet, watch over these interactions. We need to make sure they do not get unnecessarily injured in any way,” the Benefactor whispered with a serious tone. Slowly his serious expression turned into a smile and he cheerfully smiled and he continued, “Especially since they’re supposed to have a good time!”

Nick nodded and politely said, “Yes, sir,” then grabbed Scarlet’s hand and escorted her out. Making sure that nobody was around, Nick asked, “So, Scar, how do you think of the new recruits? I’m definitely enjoying the chicks around here, though the guys ain’t so bad. They’re such lucky bastards though. The Benefactor’s throwing them a party again even though they act like such brats!” He gazed at Scarlet as she spoke, observing her beautifully defined body and the flaring sea of vermillion that flowed down with it. Her luscious lips seemed to move with the words she spoke and he didn’t care what she was saying so long as he could look intensely at his partner. Ignoring anything she was saying he then asked, “Hey, why don’t you tell me your power?” He eyed Scarlet suspiciously, circling around her as he spoke. “I mean, it’s been a long time since I joined and you’ve always just kept to yourself about it. We’re partners so shouldn’t we be looking out for each other?” Nick then put his arms around Scarlet and looked at her earnestly, this time showing genuine interest and concern for her. “C’mon, Scar. You know I worry about you sometimes. Why don’t you promise you’ll show me your power? It doesn’t have to be now since I know sometimes there has to be those opportune moments. But can you promise me you’ll show it to me?” Nick held on to Scarlet and stared into her eyes, awaiting an answer.

Image“Grey, it is a pleasure for you to offer coffee. I’d like to take up the offer sometime if it’s no trouble, and perhaps the others would like some too. I will ask the maids to gather a list from each of you about your clothing preferences. Though, about the wine…I’m sorry to say that I didn’t put that there…” As he spoke he grew silent and his hand tightened around her hand causing discomfort, but she said nothing about the oddity. “Ahh sorry about that miss. But I can’t inform you much on the wine.” "Oh, ok then." Her voice was whispered as she watched the man walk away from the conversations, which she didn't mind much. Note, you'll be making lots and lots of coffee later. Looking around the room she noticed how most had left leaving the sparkling place almost hostless. Feeling a lump of lonely in the bottom of her stomach she didn't like it like she usually did, this place was making her feel all sorts of abnormal. Crossing her arms over her chest she straightened up and with her heeled shoes took her leave like most.

Looking around the hall it had few life as well, More people... She didn't know what to do, not at all, but she was a fast thinker. Glancing around she noticed the black haired boy she tried speaking to before that had said nothing in return. He was Alton she thought Mr. Benefactor had said, and he was an animal rescuer if she recalled correctly. Smoothing back her hair she clacked over to him trying to catch him before he returned back to his room. "Um, Alton." Sticking her arm at in front of him to cut off his walking she let it prop against the wall. "I'm Grey, so how are you enjoying things?" With a small shrug of her shoulders the air around her thicker from lack of words she could think of. Biting her bottom lip from habit she searched her mind for topics. Friendly... coffee... "How about you come with me to have a cup of coffee? I mean we'll be working together, so why not get to know each other more?" Not really waiting for his answer she took his wrist firmly in her hand and pulled him to where the stairs were. "With no elevator this of course will be a long walk, so why not talk on the way down to the fourth floor?" She at least though her room was on the fourth floor, hopefully.

As walking down the stairs she let the coolness of the metal railing slip through her pores as she held on to it. The room was calm and silent besides the sounds of her walking echoing through the spiral stair case. The small turns reminded her of Cinnamon Twist that she use to bake, sugar flakes that melted lightly on the tongue once entering the mouth; maybe she'd bake some. "Before I came here I owned a coffee shop, it wasn't to popular but money came in and the coffee broke the surface of perfect." Pondering what she had just spoken she stopped and turned to him, "I'm sorry how vain that sounded, I just take pride in the coffee I make." Sheepishly smiling she hoped she wasn't being a bother to the boy she had brought down the stairs without him agreeing. "I'll make you some if you want," taking a pause she searched his face for any signs of irritation, "Alton." Saying his name was strange, or at least saying it so formally. The taste it left behind was bittersweet, nice to hold a conversation but strange to have one so one to one.

"Looks like we're here." Once all the step walking was done her voice was airy from all the walking, she was tired and needed to sit. Going to room 214 she opened the door, leaving it so encase he walked in as well, and flopped done to her bed which was immediately behind her door. She didn't have a living room, but there was a comfortable looking light blue couch that her company could sit on or maybe she could hold their attention in the kitchen. Jumping back to her feet that's where she decided that's the room she could go to, so she did. She's fix some coffee, some food for herself and maybe Alton, just maybe.

Going to the coffee maker she opened it up, No water. Pulling back random doors she stopped until she found where the cups were. Getting out a measuring cup she closed all the doors, turned the sink on, filled the measuring cup to three, then poured it into the maker. Looking at a small rack next to the maker it held different types of coffee. Ruining her finger across them she bit her bottom lip. Stopping her finger over the one labeled French Vanilla she plopped it out and put it into the maker. This shouldn't take to long. Bending over in an almost perfect L shape she let her hair flow towards the ground. Pulling a hair tie from her right wrist she fiddled with it in her hair into she created a bun on the top of her head. Perfect enough I guess. she could feel the loss strands tickling the back of her neck, but she did nothing about it, all she did was pull out a mug where the cups had been and waited for it to full with her delicious coffee that she didn't feel like making from scratch.

Novia listened intently, maintaining a look of concern as she wrote in her notebook. Okay, so she was right; Hailey was a bit...off. Alright, she had to admit that this place was a mecca for studies. For a moment during Hailey's recounting of her past Novia felt...something. A twinge of sympathy? Couldn't be - She didn't relate to people. For her to relate she had to care and what did she care for this girl that she didn't even know? Of course she wouldn't form any sort of attachment to Hailey; This was purely for research. Dismissing the idea, she closed her notebook and put away her pen. “Actually I don't mind if you ramble and I do encourage it. Rambling means that your words are uncensored and you are saying what is exactly on your mind which makes it easier for me to grasp who you really are. I also don't mind taking time to listen to you. It feels good to let people in, doesn't it?”

She wouldn't know, of course. She hadn't let anyone in for quite some time and she certainly wasn't going to start now. Deep in the back of her mind she knew that it was highly possible and probable that she would eventually become some semblance of who she once was. But it would take more than tossing her into a group of fellow degenerates and crazies and voodoo therapy with magical powers. She sighed softly and wiped her hand down her face. “I need to go speak with the Benefactor. Join me for dinner lately and we can talk more. Her leaving was abrupt as she grabbed her plate and placed it atop her notebook, waving to Hailey with her free hand before shuffling down the hall to lock and close her door. She was back towards the stairs, Orca having locked Hailey near to death (figuratively) before struggling his way up the steps behind Novia as she traveled to the sixth floor. As she came to the Benefactor's office she could feel her brow crease as she knocked on the door.
