King Edmund the Just

It was in the early afternoon, and the sun was up and shining. Edmund had been up for hours and he was with the Lords of Archenland. He was called in for an important meeting, as he was usually called in. He was talking with the Narnian and Archenland council. Edmund was in his chair, he was between two of the Lords. He was listening to the Lords discuss diplomatic matters of Archenland and Narnia, Edmund looked at one of his guards and nodded. The Fawn walked over to him and said with a bow, '' My king, you have been called back to Cair Paravel by order of your brother, High King Peter.'' Edmund sighed and said with his deep, royal voice, '' Of course. I will take my leave, I don't want to give my brother more trouble for ignoring his requests.'' Edmund motioned his guard to leave, he spoke before the guard left the room, '' Prepare my horse, Gavin.'' Gavin the Fawn bowed his head and left as told.

Edmund stood up and he looked at his fellow Lords, he said, Forgive me, I will be back in three days time and we will be able to carry on our delightful discusion. Farewell.'' Before leaving, Edmund gave each one a respectful bow and walked out. The Lords gave respectful bows back and waited for him to leave. Edmund walked out of the grand castle and made his way to his big, brown, stallion. Edmund held onto his sword hilt and mounted his horse. Edmund looked at his troops and said, '' Now, onto Cair Paravel. It will have been weeks since I was at home.'' He said with a soft tone and began the long horse ride back to his castle with his small group of warriors that consisted of five Centaurs, six Fawns, three Saytars, and two black bears.

King Edmund The Just

Edmund and his men, had been riding for the remainder of the hour long trip when, the beautiful castle of Cai Parevel came into view. Edmund stopped and just sat mounted up on his horse and looked at the castle from a rather, small distance. Edmund smiled and looked back at his men, he then said after a minute of gazing at his weary men, '' Now, onto home, we go.'' He said that with a very small, happy sound in his voice. Edmund and his troops then began to walk again, after five minutes, they finally came to the grand walls of Cair Parevel. The guards looked down as they heard noises, they smiled and opened the gates as they saw it was their king returning home.

When the gates opened, Edmund was rushed by his guards, they came and helped him dismount his horse. Edmund greeted them all warmly and said, '' It is fair to see you all again, take care of my horse and my fellow troops. When they have been attended to, send in a new group, my men are tired.'' The guards saluted to him Tumnus came out of the castle and said,'' My king. Welcome home, we have missed you dearly.'' said the fawn as he bowed to Edmund. Edmund smiled and said, '' Arise, old friend. I have missed you and the others as well.'' Edmund said as he laid his hand on the fawn and they both walked into the castle together.

Edmund and Tumnus were walking and talking with each other, when they walked into Peter and Susan. Edmund looked at Susan and Peter, he said, '' Brother, sister, how good it is to see you. I have missed you dearly.'' Edmund said as he smiled at his older brother and sister. He still looked up to them, even more every day. He would look to them for guidance and help, he loved his family dearly.

"I heard you coming, sister dear." Susan heard her brother as she rounded the corner, rolling her eyes as she did.

"Rats! I was trying so very hard to be quiet too," Susan said, smiling brightly as she bowed to her brother. He looked a bit tense, but Susan decided not to comment on it. He always looked tense. "Brother, I was wondering- we should take a break from this some time. Go out. Have a picnic. Do something other than keep Lucy locked up here and wonder about when the next chance of a slight attack by anyone is. Like a family,"Susan began to say, but just then Edmund came up to them.

''Brother, sister, how good it is to see you. I have missed you dearly.'' Edmund said, and Susan smiled brightly and hugged him tightly, forgoing all formalities. They were family after all. Soon, though, she had to let go and moved back, looking back to Peter.

"As I was saying before- it has been far too long without a real family get together. Work is important and all- we do have many responsibilities, but I cannot help but think that we are starting to act more like cohorts than a true family. That is something far worse than any attack- an attack we can overcome. A family breaking apart... I fear that would be impossible to fix all the way- like fixing a broken mirror," Susan said, looking to both of her brothers. It seemed like such a sort amount of time since they had been attending party after party- though, those times had been over for a while at best.

"As a matter of fact- why don't we go now. I have not heard tell of any horrible horrible threats to our person or kingdom, and it is a fine day out. One of you can go up to get Lucy, and I will go prepare a picnic," Susan said, leaving room for Peter or Edmund to deny her offer- she didn't want to seem to forceful, and Edmund might be tired from his travels, and Peter did look rather tense, even for Peter.

After Edmund said that, he was given a big, tight and loving hug from Susan. He smiled and hugged her back, he didn't care about formalities, he hadn't used them for some time now, he looked at her when she said, '' As I was saying before- it has been far too long without a real family get together. Work is important and all- we do have many responsibilities, but I cannot help but think that we are starting to act more like cohorts than a true family. That is something far worse than any attack- an attack we can overcome. A family breaking apart... I fear that would be impossible to fix all the way- like fixing a broken mirror.'' Edmund nodded in agreement, and looked at Peter, he then looked back at Susan and said, '' True, for it has been an eternity since we have just had a feast and have a grand time with our family. I agree with Susan, I think that would be splendid.'' Edmund smiled at Susan and took a deep breath, for he was a little tired, but not enough to stop him from enjoying company with his family, for it had been two weeks since he was away from home, after all.

Edmund looked back at Susan when she said, '' As a matter of fact- why don't we go now. I have not heard a telling of any horrible threats to our person or kingdom, and it is a fine day out. One of you can go up to get Lucy, and I will go prepare a picnic.'' Edmund nodded and said, '' I will go and fetch our sister. I think it would be splendid for her to see me. I haven't seen in yet, and I think this would give her some joy. I will return shortly.'' Edmund said as he went to Lucy's room.

Peter paid no mind to Susan's attempted jest. It would not do to acknowledge such attempts at mild mannered conversations, not at this point and time. Couldn't she see that? Wait.. She didn't know yet.

He turned to the sound of an opening door. Edmund! Oh, good. "Ed-" But Susan was already talking. He watched their hug akwardly. Had they no sense of... Peter didn't know how to finish the thought to be honest. His thoughts were a bit jumbled at the moment. He listened to her proposition without consideration. There was no time for things of the sort. "My good queen -" But Edmund was now speaking. Obviously no one had heard him. '' I will go and fetch our sister. I think it would be splendid for her to see me. I haven't seen in yet, and I think this would give her some joy. I will return shortly.''

Peter frowned as Edmund started off, turning towards Susan. "Perhaps it is best that he fetch her. There is much I have to tell you, from the meeting yesterday evening. But we cannot go, for the same reason as the meeting last night was held. Traitors. Treachery. Theandro and his centuars are on their tails, but who's to say they won't find them? We don't know much about the fiends, only enough to know they're a potential danger."

((Ugh, sorry it's short. I have to get off for now. >.< Sorry, busy week this week.))

Susan watched as Edmund left to go get their sister. She had almost forgotten about her going to meet a friend, but she remembered it suddenly and groaned, hoping Edmund could tell her to come after she met with whomever it was she was meeting with.

"Perhaps it is best that he fetch her. There is much I have to tell you, from the meeting yesterday evening. But we cannot go, for the same reason as the meeting last night was held. Traitors. Susan groaned at Peter's words before turning to him.

"Brother, honestly, Narnia will survive one day without us. You may be fine with just working all the time, but the rest of us are not. If I have to tie you up, I will. We may be the rulers of Narnia, but first and foremost we are a family" she hissed out the last word, hoping to get her point across. "If anything happens, we would be just a breath away. All I ask is that you spend a little time with the rest of us, like a brother should. I'm not asking you to play hide and seek or sew a dress for Lucy. I'm asking you to have lunch, outside, on a blanket. Would that really be all that difficult? There is always going to be something, Peter. I want what is best for Narnia just as much as you do, but family is family and I will not let you break ours apart because you work day in and day out!" Susan said, her voice raising as she said the words.

Edmund walked down the hall and into the tower spiral, which is where Lucy's room was located. Edmund walked up to the door and took a deep breath, he sighed and knocked on the door gently. He waited for a reply, nothing. He knocked again, nothing. He then took his right hand and placed it on the gold, door knob. He opened the door and walked in, he wouldn't just walk in normally, but since she didn't answer he felt that he should do so. Edmund walked into her room and looked round, he said , '' Lu, Lucy where are you? '' He said with a curious and worried tone, he searched her room, no Lucy. He took a deep breath and walked out of the room, he walked down the stair case and found Susan and Peter. He walked up to them and said, '' Lu's not in her room. Where could she have gone? '' He said with curiosity and worry in his tone, not too much, but just enough to be noticed.
