"You’re gonna be rich beyond your wildest dreams."

ImageName: Yuwen Fortune
Sex: Male
Age: 26
Race: Human

Physical Description: A peculiar looking man, Yuwen is the product of Sunen and Yunish ancestry. He has a curved nose and brow over bright green eyes. His teeth are large and somewhat bucked. He has outward ears and curly, messy, dark-brown hair. He is in good shape, and is quite agile from years of combat training.
Clothing: Yuwen is currently wearing a blue travelling cloak. His wardrobe generally consist of expensive clothing of the Yune nobility with rich blues, reds and greens, now worn and tarnished from years of adventuring. He has a large, brown leather carrying case on his back.
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160 lbs
Skin Colour: Tanned
Hair Colour: Dark-Brown
Eye Colour: Green

Occupation: Adventurer
History/Bio: Born in the Imperial City of Yuna-Yae Yuwen grew up as a lesser noble to a family with old money from their trading ancestry. Yuwen never knew his mother, though he suspected she was a street worker, and instead grew up in his upper ring estate with his father and elder brother. His brother was always the better of the two in his fathers eyes, or at least that's what Yuwen perceived. His brother was the better fighter, the better student, and all together the more presentable son. But Yuwen didn't need to be any of those things. He just needed to be special, and he was. Quickly becoming popular in school for his exotic looks Yuwen gained confidence and far exceeding his brother in renown. If there was a party, if there was a fight, if you needed a badass of any kind Yuwen Fortune, as he had begun dubbing himself, would be there. By the time he was eighteen and graduating from his noble school he had no interest in the future his father wanted for him (To become a soldier, like his brother had become) or the rest of the nobility was interested in. Yuwen just wanted to have fun, and being an aristocrat wasn't fun. Fighting in a war wasn't fun. But having an adventure was. After a heated argument with his father Yuwen left Yuna-Yae with his entire bank emptied in his coin purse and readied for a lifetime of adventure. And life hasn't exactly been the adventure Yuwen had hoped it was. Money ran out fast and Yuwen realized things were a lot less fun without it. Now, toughened and with five years of worldly experience under his belt, Yuwen has a new endeavour. A new concept he wants to try out: forming a Guild to complete a quest he couldn't alone...
Home Town: Yuna-Yae
Home Country: The Yune Empire

Personality: Yuwen is an outgoing charmer: supremely confident and, though he wouldn't admit it, very manipulative.
Fears and Desires: He fears being imprisoned more than anything, and thusly desires freedom more than anything too.

Equipment and Weapons: Yuwen has dual special crafted ebony jian swords as well as a small machete. He also has a beloved horse named Master Wang Chang.
Styles and Abilities: Yuwen's fighting style uses his own skill with dual blades and the environment around him against his opponents. He constantly attacks, never letting his enemy relax, until at last they make a mistake.
Chi and Augmentations: Yuwen was trained in fighting academy to focus his Chi through his blades , making his speed of attack and handling of the blades superb.

So begins...

The place was too lit up for Xanth to hide up above, but there were enough shadows dancing around for her to hide. She whistled a command and the dog and they darted in opposite directions, weaving between the fighting and distractions until they both were at the Master Tengu's back. Xanth slashed at one ankle and the dog sunk his teeth in the other.

Namari deflected the stone missile with her sheath and curved around the swarm of movement, performing a synchronized strike with Shuin by aiming the pommels of their weapons on both sides of the tengu's temple.

The old master of the hatago warriors let out a shaky breath. His hand went to the side of his robes, patting the fabric down before reaching where Yamato's wakizashi had impaled. He groped at the wound. His face grew furious, and his blue eyes focused on Yamato again as the two were stuck in deadlock. The master could almost taste the alcohol in mouth of his foe. "Fool." Yamato was struck in the head by a flying shard of honey stone, knocking him down. The master rose his blade and struck again, deflected by the downed half-tengu, followed by another strike, and another. "None of you are strong enough to defeat me!"

The master sliced into Yamato's arm, causing him to drop his blade beside him. The tengu grinned widely, yellow fangs showing as he rose his katana to end Yamato where he lay. But before he could, Suiken rolled forward, and with him a swing from his ice-fang mallet. The momentum of the Oni's weight swung forward, and the Tengu master had no choice but to leap into the air to avoid such a force. He rose into the air of the chamber, bleeding from his side as Suiken swung. Before he could fully take off stabs and bites sliced at his rising legs. He turned back to see Xanth slashing at his left ankle and her hound's jaw locked onto his right. The tengu screamed in pain, flapping his wings frantically and trying to raise in the air away from his attackers. He reached out, the long sleeve of his cloak falling down to reveal veiny red arms, reaching desperately for the walls. Stones came free, beginning to fly toward the foes on his legs, only to be hit down by Namari's sheath as she and Shuin simultaneously ran forward. They leapt on the immobilized tengu master, smashing his head between the pommels of their weapons. Finally, the tengu's wings gave out, and he fell forward, landing face first on the ground. His blade slid forward on the rock, landing at Suiken's feet.

"You're right. None of us are strong enough to defeat you," Yuwen Fortune said, his blades forward as he approached the downed master. "But together, all of us are."

"Let us hold off on the wing clipping and any other form of mutilation at the moment," Suiken asked of the others. "He's lost. The people of Poyo deserve to decide his fate."

"Don't put words in my mouth," Samyan called to the tengu and human from where she was tucked securely into the stone floor. Her eyes were closed, face tilted up toward the ceiling. It was pleasant here. Cool, yet warm at the same time. She felt like a turnip. "You aren't strong enough to beat him."

Yamato sat up, his head in his right hand. The blood flowed down his left arm and dripped onto the honey stone. "Bastard..." he spat as he attempted to stand. The world spun for a moment before he was able to shake it off. He picked up his blades and sheathed them before standing over the fallen but still breathing, Tengu master. He knew the master felt the same sting to his pride that Yamato currently felt.

The female Snow Oni's response, it seemed to Ren, came with an uncomfortable amount of ease to it, as if she'd simply beaten the Tengu in an arm wrestling match. Instead, she'd wrestled his wings from his body, rending him of two essential limbs that gave him an ability many humans before had dreamed of. Where she seemed to see mercy, Ren saw an incredible amount of cruelty. The rabbit woman (Lo Muna he believed he heard?), rather than trying to finish the Tengu off, opted to heal him, potentially condemning him to life without wings. She too saw this as a mercy, perhaps not considering the full scope of what the Tengu had lost.

Ren was about to respond to the rabbit woman, but the boss had finally arrived, battle had broken out, and... A passing Half-Tengu/Human spat at the wingless Tengu. Bad blood there it seemed?

Once again, before Ren could come to a conclusion on the wingless Tengu, or the boss, he was assailed by the latter. First a sword, which Ren had managed to swiftly block, before being followed up with a hefty kick planted on his chest. It knocked Ren back, not causing any significant injury to the Sellsword, but preventing him from properly following up with an attack. The Tengu master blathered on for a while about 'a thousand year's', and their 'ancient warrior line. To his own detriment it seemed, as in the blink of an eye, the entire group of warriors threw everything they had at the Tengu master. Perhaps his breath would have been of better use not being wasted on monologueing, as he fell to the floor once more.

There was just the slightest frown on Ren's lips, he'd rather hoped he'd have more of a chance to fight, but there were always other fights. As the group deliberated on what to do, he unsheathed a sword and approached the Tengu master. "I think it wise to ensure he doesn't slaughter the inhabitants of the town we've been trying to protect first."

He rose his arm into the air and brought the sheath of his sword crashing on the master's head, sounding a loud crack through the cave. The Tengu's head fell limp to the floor as a wave of unconsciousness fell over him.

Ren turned his gaze to the wingless Tengu now, having made his decision on that life as well. "If he wishes to live, he will choose to live. If he wishes to die, he can do it himself. Either way, it's of no concern to me what he chooses, so long as further banditry isn't among his decisions." He gave a slight nod in the direction of Lo Muna, having taken some of what she said into consideration.

"So, Mr. Fortune..." He looked to the 'De Facto leader' of the group, a corner of the Sellsword's mouth pulled up in a half grin. "Tell us a little more about this tomb. I'm a bit of a layman, would be good to learn something about it first."

"I must admit, that was a tad anticlimactic," Namari yawned, watching as the mercenary concussed the elder tengu with a robed hand over her mouth. "But I don't hate predictable outcomes. However."

She kicked the fallen warrior's blade into her hand, briefly turned it over as she got a feel for its weight, and then violently impaled the elder through the throat, the tip of the sword snapping as it bent against the hard earth below. Ejecting the weapon from his flesh, she similarly dispatched the wingless tengu in ruthless fashion. She stared at the others with a silent intensity.

"I can't stand seeing a job half-done. Do you wish to protect innocents from future harm, or do you not? Make up your mind. This tepid performance of charity serves no one -- unless you, personally, were planning on committing yourself to guiding these criminals toward the right path. In which case..." The broken sword clattered with a metallic echo as it was carelessly cast aside. "My apologies."

There was a brief silence.

And then Shuin coughed. "You really know how to bring the mood down, don't you?" He sighed, scratching the back of his head as he looked down at the now dead tengu. He hoped that didn't hurt the chances of the two very nice onis helping him break his chain. Actually, if anything, they might sympathize with his plight of being glued to such an unpleasant woman! Clearing his throat, he tried to change the subject from the double murder that just occurred.

"Yes, yes, let's hear more about this tomb! Very mysterious! I wonder what's inside?"

"Why you..." Suiken shook in anger. Approaching Namari, he pointed towards the body of the fallen elder. "He had lost! The battle was over! You've given nothing by taking away yet another life! What's more, there was surely more information to be gleaned about his operations had you but held your blade!"

"Torture?" Suiken asked with a heavy sigh. "A kid like you, even thinking such thoughts..." He pinched the bridge of his nose. Never had he met such like minded individuals then between the Human and Snow Oni nobility. "There are many methods of information gathering. Torture is but a sadist's excuse."

"Oh, don't worry, my good merc," Yuwen replied to Ren as he walked toward the still buried Samyan. He had a huge grin on his face. "The only thing you need to know is that soon you're all going to be rich beyond your wildest dreams, and that monkey-" He pointed to Takai from across the chamber. "Has, quite literally, the key."

Yuwen placed his hands on his hips and looked down at the buried Samyan. "Need a hand?" He asked. Without waiting for an answer he grabbed the woman by the shoulders and with an exhausted grunt pulled her free. Yuwen stumbled backward, the woman surprisingly heavy even for a oni. He then turned his attention back to the rest of the group. "If I'm not mistaken Takai here has the key to that door ahead," Yuwen indicated to the damaged stone passageway, a circular carving in the centre which could house a keyhole. "And inside- the tomb of Dofuzi." Yuwen grinned widely. "Whats better than this, eh? Adventuring! Protecting! Fighting! Winning!" He walked forward, smacking Sunaarashi on the back. "Come on, this is what it's all about! This is-!"

Yuwen paused as the sound of metal plunging through flesh penetrated his ears. He turned to see Namari having stabbed the tengu master dead. Yuwen's mouth fell hung open in disbelief as she sauntered over to the unconscious tengu at the entrance of the chamber and proceeded to finalize his moments on earth in a similarly brutal fashion. Before he could interjected the snow oni Suiken had raised his voice, taking issue with the executions. Shuin, the cowardly rag-adorning freak chained to the noble-lady, interjected, trying to ease the tension. "Now, now! No need to fight!" He said, weasel like. "Namari, I know you can play nice, I've seen you do it. Let's all just try to get along, yeah?" Those words indeed snapped Yuwen to attention.

"Namari," He uttered, as though the pieces were finally coming together. The woman turned to his direction. "Namari Shioh. Blind Mari Shioh. The little blind byeonsun!" Yuwen stepped forward, two fingers aimed at her. "I- I knew it was you. I'm never wrong! I thought I had lost it but... gods, it is you!" Yuwen laughed, seemingly forgiving the unspeakable violence instantly. "Look, oni, rabbit- whats done is done!" Yuwen said, hanging an arm around the shorter byeonsun woman's shoulder. "Whats a little murder between friends?"

Yuwen laughed loudly before noticing Ginchiyo, who had began dissecting and devouring the tengu leader. "What's a little... cannibalism among..." He looked at the other members of the group nervously. "Alright," He sighed, pulling his arm from Namari. He approached Ginchiyo blades drawn. "Hey, lady," Yuwen called down to the woman as she ate. "Look, I don't know anything about you other than you know how to fight- but I can buy you meat, as bloody as you want it! The town will be throwing it at our feet after this!"

Namari moved to respond, but her train of thought was cut short when Yuwen suddenly called her name. She felt her body shrink under the weight of his arm... but, not in a bad way. Or maybe it was bad. He was both familiar and unfamiliar all at the same time, and it put her slightly on edge.

"Well. I guess you remembered after all," she muttered to herself, casually brushing off where she had been touched as her childhood... colleague... peeled off of her. Either way, she immediately forgot about her exchange with the beastwoman. There were a few questions stewing here, but they could be saved for later.

It would seem she was the odd one out here, evidenced by the way her actions drew the ire of her peers. But to her, it was they who were utterly strange. This precept of heroism they seemed to share was not reflected in the harsher reality of their punishment-driven society, nor was their impassive reaction to such barbaric conduct. When a nail sticks out, you hammer it down -- that's how you maintain an orderly society. But this group was nothing but bent nails, twisted out of shape by untenable ideas.

She supposed it didn't matter in the end. It was unlikely they'd cross paths again after this. Namari observed the beast-like human woman feast upon the corpse. It was kind of like watching a ferret tear into a hare.

Ren felt a coldness in his gut as the short, well dressed woman executed the Tengu master, and the wingless soldier. The Snow Oni man and Lo Muna began to bicker with her, and the Sellsword let out a soft breath of agitation. He pointed at the Master's body. "He was a threat, we can agree on that. You may have even had a point in killing him, avoiding any further violence, especially with his powers. But him..." His aim now swayed to the Wingless Tengu. "That was like killing a man with no legs. He posed practically no threat. Quite honestly, that just seems gratuitous, and is that really becoming of a lady of your... Stature?" Ren smirked a little, having also picked up on what Yuwen Fortune had said about 'riches' (which Ren was severely tempering his expectations of), but before he could respond, something flashed before his eyes.

He looked down to see the tall, raven haired woman he'd spoken to when first getting down in the tunnel. She was devouring the Tengu master. His eyes widened as he looked to the rest of the group, listening to them bicker about it, or try to reason with the raven haired woman. Ren lost it.

"ARE YOU ALL INSANE!" He bellowed with rage, voice echoing throughout the cave. "Look at her! This is demonic! And you're just standing around chattering as if she were a dog with a bone?" He raised the sheath of his sword again and brought it crashing down on the back of her head, another loud crack ringing throughout the caves, but leaving the raven haired woman still conscious.

"GET OFF HIM!"

Samyan dusted herself off, her once pristine black kimono now dyed a rustic tan. She looked like a farmer. Samyan cracked her shoulders loudly, the sound echoing down her back before she turned to regard the posse of bickering clowns.

The hot one seemed to have torn a chunk out of the old tengu guy, which was... fine. Probably. Samyan had heard there were clans in the north that ritualistically consumed the bodies of fallen enemies, and who was she to condemn a foreign culture simply because it seemed strange? No, she was a respectful, open minded woman of the modern age. Cannibalism wasn't any more unusual than those bowls of raw meat on rice they ate in Byeonsu. What were those called, again? She vaguely recalled they had raw egg in them, as well.

She chose to mind her business about the situation. The hairless monkey had said the other monkey had the key, right? "Hey," she called to him, brushing honey stone out of her hair. "You have the key right? It might be a good idea to move this along and deal with any war crimes or the lack thereof afterward."

A threat approached the raven-haired beast, he had his swords drawn and was spewing that indecipherable noise at her. It was loud, but not unbearable like it had been previously. "Bearable." She growled out to Yuwen in response, before resuming gorging herself. That word sounded familiar, who had been talking about a bear just a few moments ago?

Her father hit her on the back of the head, the same way he always did when she was losing herself. The blow landed on the base of her skull, but she didn't really mind. Her father, Lem, had always been a burly sort; and he was always more than capable of knocking her unconscious when she was acting out. "I'm fine, Lem, just hungry..." The words came out weird; like her mouth was full of iron shavings.

Suddenly she began to worry, why was Lem hitting her? What the hell was happening? The pit in her stomach was suddenly gone, and her blood-smeared face was longingly locked onto the darkly-clothed mercenary. "You're not Lem..." Where was Lem? All at once, the evening became too much for the gentle den mother. She remembered uttering three words before all the strength left her body. "I-I'm sorry Lem."

The gentle embrace of unconsciousness was the last thing she felt.

But Takai was already at the ornately carved door before Samyan could convince him to unlock it. He had ignored what was happening behind him, the Mayors last words on his mind: whats inside, they cannot obtain. With a glance toward the strange Asura woman beside him, he slipped the brass key into the lock and turned it. Clicks of lock mechanisms turning resonated through the circular room they all stood in and Takai had the urge to stand back, understanding that there was something more than just fortune within this room, but power. It made the brown hairs on his neck stand up. Yet a deep seated curiosity had a hold of him now, so with a slow push on the door he revealed what was inside to all that were present....

Suiken pinched the bridge of his nose. "There need to be rites...a ceremony," he mumbled to himself. Cannibalism. More harm to the corpse of what once housed a spirit. Good or ill such acts were heinous. They would bring about a change in places. A change that most places were not equipped to handle, let alone a small town like Poyo.

He knelt down before the Tengu Elder's body, closing out all around him as he began to chant a brief prayer. Not just for the elder, but for all the Tengu that had fallen in the battle and met an ignoble end.

Samyan looked back at the group as the door opened, seeing the large oni crouched down over the dead tengu. After a brief moment's thought, she stepped quietly over to him, leaning down to listen. He seemed to be muttering something. A chant, maybe?

"Did you need something from this guy?" she asked, reaching down with one hand and cupping it around the back of the tengu's head. "Here, I'll give you a minute."

The hall was filled with a still silence for a long, deafening moment. Then the tengu master's eyes snapped open, and he started screaming. "Hey, shut up," Samyan snapped at him. "Someone wanted to talk to you."

"You have one minute," she said, turning back to the oni.

Namari whirled around at the sudden scream. Tonally, she immediately registered it as one of the dead tengu and her hand flew to her weapon instinctively, but upon a few seconds of concentration...

"Oh? That's a neat trick you have there, necromancer," she snarled, drawing her sword halfway out of its sheath. It seems, however, that the silent assassin reached the scene first with her daggers out. She stayed her hand but remained wary.

Suiken sighed heavily once again. Opening his eyes slowly, he glanced over at the tall "Snow Oni" woman. He'd thought as much. "I can't say I like this," Suiken stated. "Necromancy brings nothing but trouble," He closed his eyes yet again. Poyo would have a very cold winter, he thought. He reached into a pouch at his waist and tossed ahead of him, a small handful of salt, over the shambling Tengu corpse.

He raised up his other hand, chi emanating from his outstretched palm as he continued to chant.
