Jannick Amundsen

I prefer talking to my electronics than to people. At least my electronics don't talk shit about me.

0 · 326 views · located in New York, NY

a character in “The Guardians of the Codemasters”, as played by cirrus_sd

Description

Name- Jannick (Yah-nik) Amundsen

Age- 19

Gender- Male

Element- Lightning

Weapon- One small hand-pistol, and a long, conductive metal sword that doubles as a lightning rod.

Abilities- Can shoot lightning out of his hands

Can summon lightning from the sky to strike within a close approximation of where he intends

Can manipulate the lightning to take on a certain appearance, size, or trajectory

When the lightning he has is hot enough, he can create glass when he fuses it with sand. Although he cannot yet make intricate glass sculptures, he can manipulate the shape enough to create makeshift daggers or thick walls (when he has enough sand).

Can either short-circuit or boot up any technological device, regardless of power supply, and keep it running so long as he is touching it.

Appearance- Image

Personality- Introverted, he prefers the internet to real life. Serious and contained, he rarely shows much emotion. However, when he does, like lightning it is sudden and extreme. A bit cold at first, he has your best interest at heart and will do whatever it takes to protect the codemaster he has been assigned to. Preferring to step back and think the situation first, even at the risk of being hit first, he likes to plan out his attacks first. However, his real genius shines in his moments of spontaneity. Intelligent, and knowledgeable of that fact, he is a little snobby towards those who he thinks are less intelligent than him. A stickler for the rules, and a bit of a party pooper, he is reliable and steadfast. He'll be the one to drive your drunk self home from the bar, and the one to give you his own shirt when you're cold.

So begins...

Jannick stared up at the GameStop sign, a piece of paper with its address clutched firmly between his thumb and first finger. He sighed. If only they had given him an email address, rather than a physical address. Then he wouldn't have to actually talk to anyone. Still, he'd have to physically protect her, so he better get used to physically talking to her as well. Standing up straight, he walked into the store, pocketing the strip of paper.

The store was crowded. Jannick recalled reading an article online about a new game being released. Great. That would either make his job easier, or that much harder. He walked up to the counter and asked the bearded man behind it where he could find a Dawn Blackwell. "Blackwell?" the guy asked in a voice that was a little too high-pitched for his large body, "Over there." He pointed towards the X-Box section of games, and Jannick nodded his thanks.

He approached the dark-haired girl, and put on a friendly smile. "Dawn Blackwell?" he asked her.

Boss? That was new. Jannick smiled slightly.

He was about to explain who he was when he noticed someone watching them. He turned slightly, just to get a better look. The guy was perusing some games, but it was obvious by the way he glanced over at them that he had an ulterior motive.

Not wanting to take any risks, he decided to act casually. He turned back to Dawn and picked up a game. Stooping down to her level, he started off: "Actually, I was more interested in this. Would you recommend it?" As soon as he finished his sentence, he dropped his tone and spoke quickly, "Don't look now, but the stalker you should be worried about is not me. I understand that you received a strange text message containing several numbers. You may not know it, but that string of numbers is very valuable, and there are people willing to kill to get it. I want you to know I am not one of those people. I'm not going to ask you to trust me, but I would highly recommend it, as my sole purpose right now is to protect you from those people. Getting out of this GameStop might even be tricky. So, I'm going to buy this game, but you are not going to scan it properly. When I walk out and the scanner beeps, I'm going to continue walking until the edge of the store where I have parked my bike. You are to chase me down and meet up with me, and I will take you to a safe place. Do you understand?"

Jannick nodded, smiled and said "Thanks," and left the store. As if on cue, the scanner beeped, but he continued walking, picking up his pace a little, keeping his eyes on the could-be mercenary for as long as he could.

He reached his bike, parked next to a bus stop, and waited patiently. Just as he was about to think that the plan would work out smoothly, he noticed that the man in the store had back-ups. Suspicious looking people reading the same page on a newspaper or spending a little too long to tie their shoes were gathering ominously close to the GameStop. The man in the store must be the look-out. He started the ignition on his bike, trying to act casually as he slowly neared the entrance of the store. He rested his hand on the pistol hidden behind him, pretending to scratch an itch. Come on... he thought.

"Next, we leave," Jannick answered. As he revved up the bike, the ones he had picked out as suspicious started closing in. "Hopefully in one piece," he added, and zoomed off.

It wasn't long before a police car started following them. "Great," he muttered. He started to pull over, but noticed a gun pointing out the window. "What the..." Immediately it started firing, and Jannick realized it was another mercenary. Cursing, he held the handle with a steady hand and leaned past Dawn. "Excuse me," he said, and he pulled his gun out and started firing behind them. The bullets didn't do much to the windshield accept crack it a little, but it was enough to scare them a little. His aim was still way off.

He turned to Dawn. "Steer" he practically ordered, and without waiting for a response, lifted Dawn up and switched positions. Turning so that he was sitting backwards, he reloaded and resumed shooting.

The gun wasn't doing much good, and Jannick had just gotten shot in his shoulder. "Shit..." he muttered. Shooting with one hand, he lifted the other up towards the sky and started snapping. "Take exit 10," he shouted back, "And then take one left, a right, and another left and go straight till you see a warehouse."

His snapping grew faster, and his hair started to stand on end. That was a good sign. When his fingers started to grow numb, he threw his arm down. A streak of lightning flashed and touched down in front of the police car, damaging the front and frying the car. "Yes," he exclaimed quietly. That took care of them for sure. Hands on his seat, he turned himself around so he was facing front, ignoring the pain in his shoulder. Pulling out his phone, he dialed HQ. "This is yellow," he said, "Codeholder is on her way to safehouse." He hung up after a few seconds. So Connor was already there. Two down, one more to go.

Quimbry's phone buzzed. She peeked down at the new text she'd received.

"One headed in your direction. Man with her is armed. Keep up your guard." Quimbry couldn't help but smile. Throwing her pistol on the seat beside her, she snatched the two revolvers from her holster. In the distance, she spotted a motorbike approaching the warehouse. The same smirk glued to her face, she aimed her revolvers.

"This is gonna be fun." She laughed. Skillfully, she sped over and blocked the entrance to the warehouse. If they wanted to get in, they'd have to do so on foot. She began shooting, aiming the shower of bullets at the tall man at the back of the vehicle. If she could just knock him off the bike, the code would be hers.

Connor slowly woke up and saw his codemaster awake. "Good you woke up. Now Rosalyn I believe we dis t get a proper introduction kn what's happening before. I am one of the three superhimans or 'mutants as they call us back at Templar. " he sat up and flipped off the T.V. He looked at the girl and smiled. He was a lot more calm being at home. "Now I am part of an organization called the Templar Knights. We defend peace and justice and I was created as an extremely powerful gaurdian of sorts. My 'siblings' and I have been assigned to you and two other of the code masters who got the codes just like you. " he heard the sound of a motorcycle getting closer. "And spean of the devil. " he got ready but felt something wrong. " stay down. " he said grabbing his RSASS and heading to a sniper stand and saw the mercanary ready to shoot his 'brother' . He looked at a full barrel of water nearby and controlled it to soak the assassin stunnign her just enough for the two to get inside.

"Thanks..." Jannick had planned on tending to it later, once Dawn was safe inside the warehouse, but this worked too...he guessed. It would make shooting more difficult.

The person in the car had started shooting, almost all the bullets for him. She had been waiting for them. She knew.

"There is a back entrance. Go all the way around, and there should be a sliding panel. It only responds to our fingerprints, along with the other four. But first, I need to take care of this." He hopped off the bike, motioning for her to continue, "Don't worry. I'll get in," he said reassuringly. As the girl sped off on the bike, he ran towards the car, avoiding the bullets. He noticed one of the guns touch the edge of the car, and he grinned. Perfect.

Throwing his good arm forward, he shocked the car full of lightning, electrocuting the shooter as well. At the same time, he noticed a blast of water come from the side. Connor. The combined lightning and water was strong, but not enough to kill. The shooter--a female he noticed---was out by the time he reached the car. Not for too long though. He had to act fast. He noticed a phone, and reached out with his finger, zapping it completely out of battery. Then, before she woke up, he ran into the safe house, finally out of harm's way. He nodded to Connor and searched for Dawn, hoping she made it safely. As the adrenaline left him, he realized he had been shot near his face, blood seeping out the graze mark on his cheek. Figures. It would have been crazy to miss all those bullets.

Much to Quimbry's frustration, the motorbike swerved around the warehouse rather than approaching it. She was ready to knock it over; that is, until she was drenched from head to toe by a blast of water. Looking up, she saw nothing.

"Just too damn perfect." She muttered. The only upside to the situation had to be that the man already appeared to be wounded. In one swift movement, Quimbry snatched up her phone and dialed the numbers of the multiple mercenaries assisting her. Nobody answered, telling her that they'd obviously gotten themselves killed. "Pathetic. I thought these guys were supposed to be 'the best of the best'." She sighed and debated chasing the motorbike, then stopped. Quimbry had already surveyed the perimeter of the warehouse. There was absolutely no other way in except through her. At least, she thought that until she was electrocuted.

It was a strange sensation, almost as if she couldn't control her own actions. Everything went black for a moment.

A few minutes later, she woke up on the dirt floor. Her phone was dead. The man was gone. The door was bolted shut. Anger like none she'd ever experienced overtook her. Even though she knew it would do nothing, she grabbed both her guns from beside her and emptied them into the large metal door. "I'll kill every last one of you! Do you hear that?! Don't you for a second think you're safe, cause you're NOT!"

Sore all over, she forced herself to her feet. The girl wasn't with him, she was still outside somewhere. Trying her best not to lose her balance, she ran around the perimeter of the building. There had to be another way in.

Dawn was hiding against the back wall, the bike off, searching for the panel he had told her about. As she searched, she decided maybe tapping on the outside would work. She tapped the side of the wall lightly, hoping someone would hear her inside. As she waited, Dawn got more and more nervous. She got as close to the outside wall as possible, ready to take off on the bike if need be.

She looked at her phone, reading the code again. It was some sort of computer number coding, she recognized, but more advanced than anything Dawn had ever used or studied. She tried to figure out the sequence, but the numbers didn't make sense in a letter code, and she didn't know another way to try and crack it at the time, so Dawn closed the message and waited, nervous, hoping to be let in.

Jannick froze as he heard a light tapping. He hadn't seen Dawn. Was it possible she was still outside? But what about the fingerprint scanner? Had they not set it yet??

"Connor, you idiot," Jannick said, "You didn't set the scanner??" He ran over to where he heard the tapping. He pulled open the sliding panel, Dawn just outside it. He practically pulled her in, as well as the motorbike, before closing the panel shut. "Sorry about that," he said, "I thought the scanner had been set. Are you okay?" He checked her over. Miraculously, the bullets had missed her. Lucky girl. He smiled.

"I apologize for the hectic events. Now that we're safe, I can introduce myself. I'm Jannick, and my...brother, here, is named Connor. The girl with him, like yourself, also received the same text message as you. There is a third as well, but since she is picky with names I'll let her introduce herself instead."

She saw it. Quimbry saw the door open and the second codemaster run in. Sprinting full speed, she popped a final bullet into her gun. There was no chance for her to enter the building, but she would sure as hell try to kill at least one person before they beat her. They were talking now, thus they were vulnerable. She took aim and fired at the dark-haired girl.

Jannick looked up in time to see the shooter aim and fire.

Reacting immediately, he jumped out and pushed Dawn down.

A second later, the bullet lodged itself into his chest.

He fell onto the ground hard, clutching the wound. He whipped out his own gun, shooting rapidly, but the girl was gone. Stumbling to his feet, he pulled his hand away. It was completely red, and he was feeling dizzy.

Shit.

(Oh, was gonna edit but you replied O_O)

Out of sight, Quimbry noticed the frame of the second codemaster's bodyguard collapse. Like a madwoman, she broke out into fits of laughter. She'd taken out one of them, and she was elated. The codes were one thing, but this was a matter of pride. Running back to her car, she snatched as many rounds as she could from her glove compartment along with her third handgun. If she shot one, she could easily shoot the other.

Refilling all of her guns, she sat beside her charred vehicle and waited. She wasn't sure what for, but there wasn't much else she could do.

Jannick laughed slightly at her joke. "I don't exactly plan on it," he replied. His eyelids fluttered as he breathed heavily. "You need to put pressure on it. Like what you did to my shoulder," he explained, "the bullet...I think it went through..." he winced. Talking hurt. He couldn't believe it. First mission, and already he had been riddled with bullets and possibly bleeding out. He pointed feebly, "Theres...first aid kit..." He struggled to regulate his breathing, but he could feel himself starting to hyperventilate. He looked at Connor. "Yo, Splash. Little help?" he asked, forcing his eyes to stay open.

Connor cursed and shot at the assassin but failed on hitting her. He rushed down and saw Jannick bleeding out the chest " Dont patronize me bleeding or not. " Connor was seemingly calm about the whole thing and walked to another room and came back with bandages for his brother and took Jannick's shirt off. He wrapped him up and finished calmly "Should be fine by tomorrow. " he said dusting his hands. They were better than healing that a human so he would be fine and he knew it. He walked over to the hiding Rosalyna and helped her up. "I got mine without getting shot now isn't that weird. " he said sarcastically.

"Shut up," Jannick retorted, "I wouldn't be surprised if it was because of you that she found this place anyways. At least I didn't lead her here." He winced as he stood up. He wobbled a bit, but made his way to the sink to wash his hands of the blood. He washed his face as well, the graze from before scabbing already, and dried himself off. He walked back to the table. "Don't worry," he told Dawn, "Like Connor said, it will be fine by tomorrow. Now, about the code..." He picked up his bloodied clothes and threw them in the trash can, "You might want to think twice before decoding it. I'm not saying you shouldn't, but...have you ever seen that movie Summer Wars? Something like that could happen, so...so just be careful." He ran his fingers through his slightly damp hair and sighed. "I hope Fira gets through okay. That mercenary is probably waiting outside right now."

Rosalyn saw Connor come over to her, and help her up. His grip was strong yet comforting to her,"I got mine without getting shot now isn't that weird. " He said . In the end the other boy was fine. Then she walked over to the others. And saw they were trying to decode it. "This is the craziest day of my life." She found herself saying to the others. Then her eye moved over to the other girl, thinking of her situation. "Are you okay?" she asked Connor's brother. "I could maybe make something for all of us to eat if you have ingredients." She said with a cute smile. Then soon after she heard two thuds which made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.

Jannick glanced up at the other codemaster. He gave her a small smile. "I'm fine. And there's plenty of food in the kitchen. This place is stocked with enough supplies for a long time."

Two thuds resounded against the warehouse door. Frowning, Jannick stood up and walked stiffly over to the door. With each step he grew angrier. That mercenary....and the others too!....did they not know what the codes were for? It was like they wanted the world to blow up! Heartless sons of bitches...This particular one a bitch....

"You're still here, huh?" he asked through the door, "Well pound all you like! We aren't coming out anytime soon!"

He stuck his hand on the metal door and pumped an almost lethal amount of electricity through it.

Rosalyn looked at Connor and back to Jannick, "I'll be right back then." She said as she made her way to the food. Rosalyn thought of the type of food her parents would give her when she was sick, Chicken Noodle Soup!" She grabbed 3 cans and a can opener and made her way to the stove.

She opened the cans up, and poured them into a pot. Meanwhile when it was warmimg, she found some juice and poured it into four cups and found some ice in the freezer. She put two cubes into each cup.

She went back to the stove and stirred the soup until it was nice and hot. She found four bowls and poured the soup evenly into each one. She found a dusty old tray, and wiped it off. She set the bowls of soup on the tray along with the juice and spoons. She went to the table that everyone was near and sat the tray down. "Eat up!" She said with deliate.

And she hurried back to the stove to clean the pot.

Connor rolled his eyes when Jannick bolted electricity through the door. "Dude you cant reach her from the door, look my rifle is on the stand if you wanna try. " he then turned and bounded to the kitchen at the mention of food. "Thank you Roaslyn. " he said with a grin and quickly ate his before anyone else could get to the table. Connor liked to do things fast which included eat, sleep, and drive which landed him a few tickets as he was riding around the city. "It was delicious thank you. " he said heading towards the garge and went to his car and inspecting the shot tire.

"I'm gonna be here if ya need me. " he said causally and walked to a large pile of tires and found the one he needed for his car. They were hard to come by and he tried to take care of it. He wouldn't have even taken it if he had know the mercenary was there. He looked at the newer model of a 2011 Comaro. He loved both cars and it was a bit strange of it since the others used mostly their motorcycles and rarley used a car. He pulled the tire around to his car and started the repairs.

Jannick rolled his own eyes and sighed. "If she's banging against the door, and the door is made of metal, then yes, it will affect her," he explained exasperatingly, "Idiot..." he muttered quietly as he returned to the table. He ate the soup. Rosalyn? Was that the girl's name? He nodded his thanks. He put away his bowl, and took out his computer and sat next to Dawn. "Do you still plan on cracking the code?" he asked.

"You're still here, huh?" His voice reached through the heavy door "Well pound all you like! We aren't coming out anytime soon!"

As Quimbry tossed her phone one last time, it burst to pieces. Pulses of electricity surged through the door. It was obvious that the second guard was still alive, but for some reason, that wasn't such a bad thing. She'd managed to get under his skin, and that was an advantage in itself.

She laughed, thrilled by the response of everyone inside. "Looks like we're all gonna be here for a while then." She paused for a moment, smiling from cheek-to-cheek,
"So you're still alive Sparky?" She screeched in a mocking tone. "That was rude, you could've really hurt me with that blast there."

"So you're still alive, Sparky? That was rude, you could've really hurt me with that blast there."

Jannick exhaled strongly, pinching the bridge of his nose, eyes closed. Just ignore her. She's lost, for now. We're safe in here. He didn't reply to her taunts, but he did send another shock of lightning towards the door.

An idea came upon him, and he walked to the window where Connor's rifle was set up. Pulling out his phone, he snapped a picture of her and sent it to his email. He opened up one of the programs on his computer and tried a face match.

So, Miss Quimbry Cancio was in the system after all. Only her name popped up, but that was all he needed. An odd name, albeit, but it still worked.

She was obviously trying to shake him up. Dropping his "ignore" strategy from earlier, he reversed her tactic on her. "My apologies, Quimbry," he called through the door, "but it only seemed fair, what with that earlier bullet you so graciously awarded me."

Another spark of electricity flew off the door, nearly landing on Quimbry. She laughed and prepared to hurl a storm of curses at the door. That is, until he responded.

"My apologies, Quimbry," She heard through the door, "but it only seemed fair, what with that earlier bullet you so graciously awarded me." The smile faded from her face and was replaced by a look of horror.

"My name?" She muttered under her breath. She felt her entire face heat up, her mind blank from the anger. Her name was hers and hers alone. If he had access to that, he without a doubt had access to the rest of her information. Somewhere deep in her throat, a growl began to form. "Oh, about the bullet," She shouted, just loud enough to be heard through the door, "Don't feel too special." Her voice changed drastically, having an almost innocent characteristic to it. "That little present was for your black-haired bitch." She snorted, "By the way, I really don't feel that we're on a first name basis yet, so refer to me as Miss Cancio."

She knew her new course of action. Her plan was simple; collect the codes, then kill the girl. She needed to prove to Sparky that she was in control.
