Melissa couldn't imagine herself with anyone else. He had his faults, but she stayed in the relationship, going strong by his side. They'd been together for a year, and she'd loved every moment of it so far.

The only downfalls were the outside elements of the relationship. They were slowly getting tighter and tighter on funding, and she started to worry. They lived together in a smaller loft apartment in Manhattan. She loved the place, and had decorated it more modernly, as they could afford at the time.

"Baby? Are you awake?" She asked softly, turning over to her stomach, and her head resting on the pillow to face her long-time love. She had on some short shorts, and a matching dark grey top, the stitching standing out in white, giving her a highschool girl look almost.

Oliver remembered the day that he met Melissa like it was the only thing he had done in his entire life. Melissa was this eye of the storm kind of girl. She was marvelously collected, yet there was brashness about her that attracted him. Oliver had always been the kind of man who liked to take charge and be the classic figure head of a family, but the way that Melissa pushed and took charge of him kept him o his toes. After just the third date with her Oliver knew that he was going to marry her, and he didn't care how long it would take him to catch her. His chase was cut short though and they got married after just a year of dating. Now, with another year under their belt, other trails were creeping up on them.

Oliver was an intern at the local hospital and was paid dirt money and spent most of his time on the job. All the while Melissa took on any job that she could to make things meet. There was a real strain on their marriage at this point. Oliver felt like he was being stretched and prodded by Melissa whenever he came home, but he also felt like he was failing her by being gone so often and making so little money.

Last night had been one of the first nights that Oliver was able to sleep next to his wife for a full eight hours, and the morning came too soon. With fluttered eyes he awoke to the beautiful woman he called wife just inches from his tired face. With a grumble Oliver said "I am now," pointing out the obvious. Within seconds his sleepiness was replaced with affection and excitement. Every time that he woke up next to Melissa he had this feeling of completeness, and this feeling made him elated. Looking her over and imagining her without her matching pajamas he spoke again, "Look at you." Suddenly Oliver jumped on top of her and gave her a series of kisses all over her face. "God!" he exclaimed, now on his knees, straddling Melissa below him. His hands cupped around her face as he kissed her again, grateful that he finally had one moment to spend with the love of his life.

Melissa couldn't help but giggle as her husband pounced on top of her, clouding her with his kisses. "Oliver!" She screeched playfully, and shrunk back into the bed as much as she could. "Hehe!" She laughed, and leaned into the kiss that he placed on her lips, his hands on her skin. Her skin with goosebumps.

"Mmm.." She smiled as the kiss broke, and she ran her hands up him, and into his hair as she laid, looking into his eyes. "I love you." She said softly, and playfully nipped at his ear, then pulled back, her arms around his neck. "Don't get up. Not yet, I just got you." Melissa pleaded with her drowsy husband, and frowned.

After a moment of just looking at him, she remembered a ton of things she still needed to do. "I still have the laundry... and the bills... " She trailed off, swallowing as she looked at the ceiling.

Oliver beamed at Melissa's reaction. He basked in the glory of being a fool in love and with her laughing made him loved it even more. "I love you too," he said in response. As Melissa nibbled at his ear Oliver had to keep himself in wraps. As Oliver tried to get up his neck was weighed down by his wife's arms. He narrowed his green eyes at her as she began listing things that she needed to do. "Oh no, no," he said, singlehandedly flipping them around so that she was on top. "You can't just tell me to stay and then lay here rattling off your to do list." Oliver raised his hands to her face and brought himself up to kiss her gently.

"If I have a day off, you have a day off," he said. This statement wasn't exactly true, since he was on call, but it was valid enough. Oliver kissed her again before speaking, "now, come on, tell me about the new job." Oliver and Melissa texted most of the time and got a couple phone calls in when he had ridiculous hours, but they rarely got to update each other on bigger events. Most of their conversation was short term and talking about how they were doing that day. Oliver honestly didn't know the next job that his wife was picking up, partly because she didn't talk much about it, and partly because she went from one thing to the next so quickly.

Melissa looked down at him, kissing him back each and every second she was allowed. She straddled him, and sat on his abdomen, as he physically able to handle that. She was running her hands up his chest to cup his neck, when he asked.

"If I have a day off, you have a day off, now, come on, tell me about the new job."

"My new job?" She frowned. "It's not the best.. but, I help teach dance at the Community Center and then double as a waitress." She smiled softly, her simplified version not being too much different of her actual exoctic dancer and waitress at the bar downtown. "And before you say one thing, I did take dance when i was younger, and I did it in college." She pecked his lips, and giggled like a girl.

"So? How's your job, Dr. Merian?" She teased, her hands running through his almost bald head. "You need hair.. I miss your hair." She pouted, and kissed at his neck while he spoke.

Oliver paid attention to his wife like it was his job, keeping his green eyes on her. While she spoke his eyes wandered here and there but his ears listened intently. He had never known that Melissa was a dancer. Most people who were good enough to teach classes mentioned that sort of thing. Oliver blinked away his suspicions and smiled at Melissa. "That's great, babe." Oliver was always impressed by Melissa's discipline when it came to these jobs. He himself was a very structured person who needed and wanted something more that he could strive for. And that was the sole reason that he was training to become a pediatrician. It was a long winded but rewarding journey to having his own clinic.

The way that Melissa went form job to job was also something that Oliver didn't understand or really approve of. She had a degree and she was smart and charismatic. Maybe that's why she was taking the easy way out, not really committing to one job or another. Oliver thought about that often, how she didn't seem to care about using the degree she was currently in debt for.

A sigh escaped Oliver's lips as Melissa changed the subject toward him. He loved his job almost, if not equally, to his wife, but he didn't like talking about it much. Mostly because whenever he talked to Melissa about work she didn't understand what he was saying and he always felt like he was talking down to her. "Work is work," he said simply, giving her a shrug. "Long hours doing what I love," he finished.

With Melissa running her hand over his head she made a comment about his hair. "Nah," he said, "it's better short." There really was no way to please everyone, with his hair long it was wiry and eventually turned into an afro and with it too short his wife complained. A soft smile played on his lips as she kissed his neck. "Are we just going to lay in bed all morning?" He asked, having no problem at all.

Melissa had too easily gotten into the habit of kind of tuning him out when he spoke about work. She knew he didn't like to talk about it, but she had no idea what else to talk about.

"Are we just going to lay in bed all morning?"

"You're right. I have things I need to take care of, unlike my husband." She smiled oddly, and sat up, roughly placing a kiss on his lips, and pushing him back, to get off the bed herself. Still in her pajamas, she made her way to the other side of the room, where there was a cheap desk, stocked full of papers, mainly from the bank and house realtors.

After about two hours, Melissa started breathing fast. She looked at the numbers, the papers fading in her view. "O-Oliver?" She called for him, nearly panicking. "O-oliver... No.." She felt her eyes grow big. "We're in debt... we are so far down the hole.. " She paused sucking in a breath. "L-look... Look.." She stuttered, holding up the house papers, where it showed they had only paid 25% of the actual pay for each month.

"T-they lied..." She bit her lip covering her mouth.

Oliver had wanted to lie in bed all moving and ravish his wife, but perhaps she had misunderstood him. Giving a heavy sigh and throwing his hands into the air Oliver watched Melissa's firm booty walk away from him. He didn't want to argue with her, or make her worry so he let her go. The young doctor rolled over onto his stomach and let the fluffy comforter swallow him up.

If Melissa wasn't going to play until she was done working Oliver would sleep. After one last moment of regretting to whisk her to bed, Oliver closed his green eyes and drifted into a light slumber. His dreams were scattered and confusing, but they were happy. There were bits of his and Melissa's wedding meshed with the hospital and old memories of his grandmother's cookies. There was no story to his visions, nor were there bits of sense.

Getting another good two hours of rest was a perfect solution to Oliver's aches and pains. In a drowsy state of pretend bliss and reality, Oliver heard his wife mutter his name. For a moment he thought that his droopy mind was playing tricks on him. Then she spoke again, this time with panic in her voice. His senses heightened and he leapt out of bed. Oliver strode quickly to Melissa, "What? What is it?" he called, just before finding her in the side room. Thankfully she was safe, but there was a face of shear panic on his wife.

When she spoke Oliver crudely looked at the papers in front of her. There must be some mistake! Maybe she calculated something wrong. Quickly scanning the pages his mathematical brain confirmed. "What the hell," he muttered. "Isn't that against the law?" he asked rhetorically. Oliver rubbed his head in stress and shook his head.

"Melissa," he started, trying to find sense in this nonsense. "I don't understand how you can-" Oliver stopped himself. He shouldn't blame her for this. "Shit. No, it's okay. I'll just..." get another job is what he wanted to say. "I-" He shook his head again, now growing anxious. "I can call my parents," he said half-heartedly. Melissa knew that Oliver hated asking things from his parents. Oliver really didn't even want to associate with his parents... But when push came to shove.

Melissa bit her lip as Oliver entered the room, and he almost blamed her for it, the nerve of that man. But, she felt better as he declared he'd call his parents, and she almost objected. Tonight was a big night for her dancing career, and she'd make quite the pretty penny at 'work'. She nodded softly, still looking anxious as he spoke.

"Alright.. Baby, don't push yourself too much, alright?" She said in the most soothing voice she could, and awaited what he'd do.
