Amelia is an intelligent and independent person; with a very certain charismatic charm about her. She is very polite, however, at the point when she needs to be rude and pushy, she can be, as she typically knows what she wants, and is able to fight hard for a goal she has chosen. She can be really stubborn going her way, but she always does what is right and works hard with whatever she does. She loves books and poetry. She loves sports and outdoors activity, though she is pretty feminine and has a soft mannerism. She can have a bit of a temper when things go wrong, however, especially when people tell her she can't do something.

Amelia Hartford had an unusual childhood. Adopted by Edward and Jane Lewis, for much of her early life she was raised instead by her mother's parents, along with her parents' biological daughter, Grace due to the fact her parents were both busy with their business. Her grandparents were rather wealthy, so she attended private school under their care until she was twelve and her sister nine. Those were the most comfortable years of her life. At the age of twelve though, her parents' company had finally picked up enough that their finances were secure so she and her sister returned back to their parents and began attending public school for the first time ever. School wasn't terribly different, but early on it became evident her father had an alcohol problem, often coming home drunk.
When Amelia was seventeen, her father was forced to resign from his occupation and attempted to go to rehab, though it never quite helped. Her grandmother died around the same time, though as her grandmother was worried that Amelia's father would drink away all their money, it was left in a trust. Amelia's father was never a prominent figure in her life, and often was absent. Instead, Amelia focused on her dreams. Keeping a scrapbook of the most influential women in history, she dedicated herself to trying to be something. Briefly contemplating a career in nursing, she ultimately decided against it, and applied to the MIT Aeronautics program, which, to her delight, she was accepted into.
