The world was flooded with super humans. No one knew how to control them, even the ones who possessed their chaotic abilities.

It all fell into chaos. With no way to control them, there were do-gooders and evil-doers destroying cities. Some of these super humans hid away, keeping these abilities to the safety of the mountains or an island halfway out to sea. Most super humans wanted to use their abilities, to stop the evil or create it. There was no balance, no sense of good or evil when both sides were uncontrollable.

This is how the Department of Super Human Affairs came to be. This government department synthesized the power negation abilities of one of their agents to form the negation medication, and have also transmitted the ability to any high ranking official in the department. With those safety measures in place, the Hero Service program could start.

Participants were sought out once they reached puberty. Those without any abilities, at least by the tests currently available to detect abilities, were approved to live their lives as they wish, considering they were currently not a threat to the community's safety.

Those with abilities were given two options: their abilities could be controlled by a negation medication, or they could join the Hero Service.

After primary schooling is finished, those who have chosen the Hero Service route are sent through a series of test to determine their current capabilities. They have been training in specialized classes during their formative years to control their abilities, but now they needed to cultivate the abilities to their full potential. Four years of training would lead them to be official heroes, able to use their abilities to protect others and ensure the safety of the general population.

The newest Heroes in Training would be stepping into their first year as official trainees. After years of controlling their abilities, unable to use them unless authorized by a government agent or a Hero Service official, they now have the chance to flourish, or completely self destruct.

The rogue hero situation was a disaster. Every media outlet had different clips of Thorn, Shockwave, and Goldmine terrorizing the city, focusing on the fact that heroes were not doing their job rather than the nameless villain that had used their image to ruin their reputations. Each hero had to speak in front of press conferences, denying their participation in the destruction of a portion of D.C. and condemning the faceless villain for using their public image like that. Thorn and Shockwave were already in the city, found unconscious in their respective homes after what they assumed was a visit from the villain. Goldmine had to fly in from Dallas, only staying long enough to repair her image and proving that she was in Dallas at the time of the fight.

”You’re not going to see him? Prodigy was hurt during the mission and is still in the infirmary. I think he would benefit from-“ Agent Angel spoke with Goldmine after her press conference, walking with her to her car. The hero cut her off, eyes apathetic behind her sunglasses. ”Have you been training him properly? He’s always been weak and it sounds like you didn’t prepare him for the mission,” Goldmine continued walking, ignoring the flare of anger from the agent. It wasn’t her fault her brother was sent on the mission, and he hadn’t stopped the villain that tried to tarnish her image. She stepped into her car, rolling down the window to speak with Agent Angel. ”If he’s a liability in the field he should consider negation. I told him that’d be better for him than trying to be a hero, and it sounds like I was right,” Goldmine told Angel, rolling up the window before the agent could say anything else.

Agent Angel had understood that Dom had a difficult relationship with Goldmine and Vortex, lots of insecurity involved, but this was a new level of understanding and it made her blood boil. She wasn’t going to see her own brother while she was in the city, just returning to her normal hero life while Dom fought for his life in the facility infirmary. Even as she got to the facility to check on him, the outright anger she felt at Goldmine’s words continued to put her in a sour mood that she couldn’t keep off of her face. She’d already spoken with Vortex, or at least had tried but he was on a mission and hadn’t returned her calls. She wanted to believe that he was just tied up, that he didn’t care for Dom as little as his sister did.

Team Alpha hadn’t left the infirmary since they got Dom back from the mission. They weren’t going to leave any time soon, not with their teammate still unconscious. Sapphire was definitely worried about how Dom would be feeling once he woke up. He was choked by someone who used his sister’s form to do so, and she was sure that would leave mental wounds as well as emotional. And she had heard his last words to Trinity, finally confessing his feelings, so she was just as much there for Trinity as she was for Dom. She stayed by their side, comforting Trinity when needed and waiting for Dom to wake up. She was nodding off in her own chair when Agent Angel came in, and she was surprised to see that the agent looked in a poor mood. It was a stressful situation, considering she was the leader of a team that had failed and it seemed like several heroes had gone rogue, but she was usually better at hiding what she felt from the trainees. She swore she saw Angel wipe a stray tear from her eye as she walked in.

”Has Dom gained consciousness at any point?” Angel asked Sapphire as she walked up to his bed, and she shook her head. The nurses hoped he would be regaining consciousness soon, even with the dark bruising around his neck. It had been a few hours since they’d brought him back and it was getting more and more concerning that he wasn’t waking up. But it was almost like Dom heard Angel asking for him, and his eyes slowly fluttered open. As he lifted his head, Sapphire stood from her chair. ”Well, not until now. I’ll grab the nurse,” Sapphire added as she went to find the nurses.

Dom blinked a few times, trying to remind himself where he was and what was happening. He was in the infirmary, that much he could tell by the concerned faces all hovering over him and by the fact he was laying down. His throat ached horribly, and as he tried to speak, nothing came out. Just breathing made his throat hurt as air passed by the bruising. Then it all came back. The villain, who looked just like Kimberly, trying to choke him to death with her ability. His bloodshot eyes went wide as he was reliving the horrible memory, his hand flying up to his throat as he felt the sensitive bruising on his throat. ”K- Ki- Kimber-“ Dom whimpered out his sister’s name, gently holding onto his neck as the memory consumed his thoughts. He knew it wasn’t her, it wasn’t, but he couldn’t separate the image of her from the feeling of no air in his lungs and the gold fingers crushing his neck.

Hours had gone by, but it felt longer. Each second that passed, felt painstakingly slow. All of Team Alpha had remained in the infirmary. The nurse had come to terms long ago that Team Alpha was resistant to leaving their teammates. Especially after Josiah ahd long broken a door and threatened to fight the nurse while Sapphire was in the infirmary. Trinity couldn’t keep her eyes off of Dom. The bruises stood out in stark contrast to his own skin. Trinity would have given anything for him to wake up. Even if it was to tell them to get out or that he was cold. Or to even confess his feelings once again. Sapphire was comforting Trinity at this time as well as stressing over Dom remaining unconscious. Trinity hadn’t spoken during their waiting period. Agent Angel walked into the infirmary and it was as if she had given him some kind of cue. Dom’s eyes fluttered open and Trinity quickly stood up out of her chair. ”Dom?” Sapphire ran to grab the nurse and Trinity ran to his side. ”Dom it’s me. You are going to be okay.” She moved her hand to his with the attempt of trying to pry them off of his neck.

Josiah was practically asleep in his chair;. Even Agent Angel’s presence didn’t wake him up. The battle with the unknown villain had worn him out, but he wasn’t about to go to his room while his teammate was stuck in the infirmary. It wasn’t until the various alarms went off that he jolted out of his sleep. ”I’m up! I’m up...I wouldn’t sleep anyway…” He muttered mostly himself as he jumped up out of his seat. He realized that Dom was also awake which was why the alarms were going off. ”Oh he’s up too!” Josiah stated excitedly, happy that his teammate had woken up. Though still not in the best shape, it was a miracle that his eyes were opened. The nurses were worried he wasn’t waking up sooner. Agent Angel was also in the room, though she looked upset. And not her typical upset, but like her emotions were showing. Josiah was afraid to even ask about what had upset her. ”Did the heroes fix everything?” he asked in reference to the hero reputation being destroyed.

The nurse returned with Sapphire and immediately moved to where Trinity was. She gently moved Trinity aside and immediately went to work assessing him and calming him down. Trinity stumbled back and stood next to Sapphire. She rested her head on Sapphire’s shoulder. Though she was relieved that Dom was awake, she was still nervous that this was only temporary. ”He is going to be okay right?” She whispered mostly to herself, but loud enough for Sapphire to hear it.

Dom felt a gentle hand grabbing his and his eyes finally focused back into reality and settled on Trinity. Just her image beside him soothed him more than he realized. If he was in the infirmary, that meant he was alive, and once he could speak alone with Trinity, he would tell her exactly how he felt. His breathing calmed down, and he nodded at her words, settling back into the bed. The nurse came out and checked him over, eyes scanning his injuries as he took in the situation post-mission. Dom was thankful his teammates were relatively unscathed, and unsurprisingly, they were all currently in the infirmary, as well as Agent Angel. The nurse was asking him questions about how he was feeling, and other than his throat and the bruising, he felt mostly fine. More cold than anything. ”Do you… have extra blankets?”

Agent Angel worked her expression into a more neutral tone, not wanting to upset the team further while Dom was still healing. ”They were all proven innocent. Thorn and Shockwave have protective details at their homes just in case the villain shows again. And Goldmine is leaving the city,” She added the last part in a lower tone, not wanting Dom to hear about his sister, especially after their conversation before she left. She was still processing that she thought he was better off without his powers. Although this team had suffered through brutal missions, she was certain of one thing: Team Alpha was one of the strongest groups of kids she’s ever trained, and Dom was no exception.

Sapphire couldn’t help but shed a few tears, but quickly wiped them before her team could notice. Dom had been by their side when Josiah was in here, when she herself was in here, and she never expected to see him here. She always thought of Dom as so much stronger than her, but she thought the same of Josiah and he had almost died. Sapphire had never seen Dom look so… fragile. And when Trinity asked if she would be okay, she had to assure herself as well as Trinity that he would be okay. ”Don’t even worry, Trin. He’ll be fine,” Sapphire whispered back, resting her head on top of Trinity’s. She wanted to believe that Dom would be good as new in no time, but they had no clue how he was affected by being strangled by his sister, whether or not it was actually his sister.

The heroes cleared their names and The Hero Service was no longer the face of destruction. For good measure, some agents were sent out to help clean up the mess that the villain had made. Josiah wanted to catch that villain more than ever. Not only for making them all look bad, but because of what he had done to Dominic. His teammate was in the infirmary and they were all stressing whether or not he was going to wake up. On top of that, the stranger had the audacity to use his sister against him. Josiah couldn’t even begin to imagine what his friend was going through. What solidified his anger was hearing that Goldmine had left the city. There was no way she was that busy that she couldn’t stop by to see if her brother was okay. The Hero Service surely would have made an exception in her case. Josiah just nodded at Agent Angel and decided to keep that information to himself. The rest of the team, especially Dom, didn’t need to hear that right now. All that mattered right now was that they were all okay.

The nurse was satisfied with Dom’s recovery. Despite the obvious wound around his neck, she deemed that there weren’t any other internal injuries other than some bruised ribs from when he was punched originally by Goldmine. Trinity was relieved that he was going to be okay. Anxiety continued to course through her veins, but it lessened a little. Having Sapphire next to her was really helping as well. The nurse fetched him a blanket and made sure that he was comfortable. ”You still need to stay here for the rest of the day. No trying to sneak him out.” The nurse gestured her statement mostly to Josiah since he tends to be the troublemaker among the group. Josiah threw his hands up innocently. ”Hey...I have been well behaved in here. I even left the door alone.” He defended, crossing his arms. Josiah crossed his arms and the nurse just rolled his eyes. Trinity giggled a little and wiped some of the last of her tears from her cheeks.

Josiah smirked to himself and clapped loudly to command the attention of everyone in the room. ”Well now that we know he is okay...Saph, I’m hungry.” He walked right up to her and started guiding her out of the infirmary. He was hoping she wouldn’t put up much of a fight. Their teammates need to be alone. There was a confession that needed to be completed. ”Trin you stay here. We will bring you food after we debrief with Agent Angel.” He was hoping Agent Angel would just follow them out of the infirmary on the empty promise of a debrief. He was just trying to get her out. Josiah was hungry, however, so they would be making that stop in the cafeteria. Josiah would also benefit from a decent shower.

The door shut behind them all, leaving Trinity with Dom and the nurse. Though the nurse didn’t stay around for long. She slipped away to her office, probably to write up all the information regarding having to treat Dom. Trinity moved closer to her teammate’s hospital bed with a small smile on her face, her eyes red and cheeks puffy from crying so much. ”I’m really glad you are okay, Dom.” She said genuinely. Trinity didn’t want to think about the amount of pain or trauma that he had been in. The villain targeted him. Exploited his sister. Just walked by Trinity like she didn’t matter but attacked off of her friends. The words were still echoing through her mind, but she was trying not to think about it. ”I don’t think they are actually going to bring me back any food.” She said with a slight giggle at how quickly her friends left.

Agent Angel wasn’t expecting Josiah to offer a debrief, but she still needed to write the report of trainee intel even if they already had all the facts from the scene and witnesses. ”Just focus on recovery, Prodigy,” Angel said to Dom before following the other two trainees out of the infirmary. She stopped Josiah once they were outside of the infirmary, a serious look on her face. ”I trust that you won’t tell Dom about Goldmine. He needs to focus on himself…. and the people that are actually there for him,” Angel told Josiah, knowing that he wouldn’t want to upset his teammate further but just wanting to say it out loud. The situation had ruffled her feathers to say the least, and she could wait for debrief at another time. She wanted to keep her true feelings away from the trainees, which included her failing faith in the hero service officials. It was getting harder to believe they had the trainees’ best interests at heart when they were sent on missions with overly difficult villains and getting hurt.

Sapphire had followed Josiah out without complaint. She knew exactly why he was getting her out and she agreed with the plan. Having Trinity and Dom alone meant that he could continue with the confession he made out on the mission. She wasn’t surprised that it took almost dying for Dom to finally say something, and part of her wished he could have just come to his senses, but at least something was said. She wasn’t sure if Trinity would have said anything either, but now that they were both in vulnerable states they would need to talk about it. Sapphire was quickly distracted by Angel’s words, and turned to Josiah. ”What happened with Goldmine? I thought she was in town to deal with all the crap that villain caused,” Sapphire asked, wondering why they weren’t supposed to mention her. She wasn’t sure if it was because she was the face the villain used to strangle Dom and they didn’t want to upset him, or if there was something else she wasn’t aware of yet.

Dom didn’t have any protests staying in the infirmary overnight. It sounded like he had been here a while already, and the way his body reacted when he tried to move even in the slightest, he wasn’t going anywhere. He was a bit surprised that Josiah and Sapphire left the infirmary, they were usually stuck here when someone on the team was hurt. He had a feeling that they wanted him alone with Trinity, and even managed to get Angel out of the infirmary as well. It was not long until the nurse went back to her office and the two were left alone. Dom rolled his eyes at Trinity’s joke, ”With Josiah? Not likely. I don’t think he’s ever been full,” Dom answers with a soft smile, wincing slightly at the way his voice cut against his wounded throat. It didn’t feel good to talk, but it was nice to be alone with Trinity. The last time he spoke with her, he thought it would be his last words.

She was obviously emotional from it too, judging from the look on her face. He reached out slowly and took her hand, looking at her for a moment. He could honestly cry, feeling the crushing relief of being able to talk with her again. ”I meant what I said,” Dom started, trying to find the right words. But maybe that was his problem. He was always trying to find the right words or the right time that he almost lost his chance. So it didn’t matter what he was saying, only that he conveyed to Trinity how he felt. ”I’ve… had a crush on you since we started. I just, I don’t know… I didn’t know how to tell you. I haven’t really liked someone in a while, and it… didn’t end well. But, I like you. A lot.” Dom finally confessed, saying half of it to Trinity’s hand but tried to say that he liked her to her eyes, so she could see that he really meant it.

Josiah was very proud of himself for managing to get everyone out of the infirmary rather quickly. He was going to add that to his resume along with being able to get people to do what he wants when he is bored. Formidable skills if he does say so himself. The doors shut behind them and Agent Angel turned to him. Josiah was worried that he was going to have to actually give a debrief. He was too tired and hungry to recall any of those events in enough detail that would satisfy her. Luckily for him, she just wanted to make sure that Josiah wasn’t going to tell Dom about Goldmine. ”Of course not. My lips are sealed.” He promised. ”Nothing Saph...let’s run along.” Josiah took hold of her hand and guided her towards the cafeteria. Agent Angel went in the other direction and he made sure she wasn’t able to hear him. ”Goldmine left the city. And it sounds like she isn’t going to come and see Dom anytime soon.” Josiah said to Sapphire. He was always planning to tell her, but not in front of the person he just promised that he would keep his mouth closed. Also not in front of the infirmary. Their teammates may be distracted with themselves, but they are still agents. They would be able to hear him. ”We can’t tell Dom. We can’t tell Trinity either cause she will tell him. She sucks at lying and keeping secrets.” His nose picked up on the various scents in the cafeteria and his stomach growled. ”Let’s eat.”

Dom’s hand felt warm in Trinity’s. She was beyond relieved that she was even able to hold his hand. And he was talking to her, though his voice wasn’t as strong as it normally was. Trinity didn’t care. Just hearing his words warmed her heart. Especially because of what he was saying to her. He really did like her back. This whole time, Trinity was sure that he was just being nice to her. She knew that the two of them grew close over the past year, but she thought it was because they were teammates. She had been holding back all of these emotions and feelings she had for him because she didn’t want to ruin any of that. When in reality, she didn’t have to do any of that. Tears started to fall once again, though she was beyond happy. And if she wasn’t so tired, she would have been jumping for joy. Trinity tried to get herself together enough so she could give Dom a verbal response. ”I-i-i like you a lot too and I was afraid that it was just me so I didn’t want to say anything so that it wouldn’t be awkward on the team, but then I thought I lost you…” More tears started to fall from her eyes. Trinity wiped her tears with the hand that wasn’t holding onto Dom’s. She didn’t want to let go of his hand ever again. ”I really like you and I am really happy that you like me too. And I am even happier that I get to tell you.” She said with a smile on her face.

Sapphire knew Josiah was going to tell her, they just had to make Angel believe that she was going to be left in the dark like the other teammates. That’s what roommates were for, telling them information even if they weren’t supposed to. Once they rounded the corner, Josiah gave her the news about Goldmine. Sapphire was shocked that she’d decided to leave without seeing Dom. Even if she wasn’t his sister, it was only the decent thing that a hero would do if their image was used with malicious intent. ”I can’t believe that. I know they didn’t have the best relationship but…” Sapphire was still processing it. She lost any respect she had for Goldmine. She knew that heroes weren’t perfect and not the same as their public persona, but even normal citizens were held to a standard of being there for their family. She followed him to the cafeteria, and promised that she wouldn’t tell Trinity and Dom. ”This may be best for Dom. I don’t know how he would have reacted to seeing her so soon.”

Dom reached up slowly to Trinity’s face, softly wiping the rest of the tears from under her eyes. He could feel a few tears slipping from his own eyes, watching her react to what he said. He was surprised that Trinity had held her own feelings because she wasn’t sure if he would like her back. He was afraid of never being able to tell her, and Trinity was afraid of her feelings not being reciprocated. ”I’m here, I’m both going anywhere, okay?” Dom told Trinity, cupping her face so she could see how serious he is. It could have been awkward if one of them wasn’t into it, but thankfully they were on the same page. ”We should probably keep it between us for now as we figure this out. You know how the other two can be,” Dom added, his hand sliding down and taking a hold of her hand. It was such a nice feeling to have it out in the open and he could actually hold her hand. It was warm and soft, and it felt so intimate even when it was just something so simple.

The nurse put her foot down about Dominic remaining in the infirmary overnight. Trinity had attempted to stay through the night in the hospital bed with him, but she had gotten caught. She was anxious the whole time she was away and returned in the morning as soon as she was able. Sapphire and Josiah stopped by as well. They were all talking and horsing around as if nothing had happened. It was Team Alpha’s way of trying to move on. Between card games, bored games, and normal trainee gossip, it made the time pass. The nurse cleared Dom to sleep in his own room. For the rest of that week, all of Team Alpha would continue to rendezvous in the room to make sure their teammate was doing okay. He still hadn’t been cleared to train or do any extraneous exercise. As promised, Trin and Dom kept the contents of their talk to themselves as they were figuring it out. When left alone they would lay in the same bed, cuddle, and hold hands. It was relieving for the pair. Josiah and Sapphire kept their own promise to one another and managed to withhold the secret of Goldmine refusing to see her brother. There was no reason for Dom to know. After a week Dom was finally cleared to train like normal. An official debrief had been completed and the Hero Service had taken upon themselves to find the Stranger.

A month passed by in the blink of an eye. Training for Team Alpha had maintained its high level of intensity. As they get stronger, the agents have to change it up. Sleep was a luxury and days off were precious. However, the holidays were coming up and all of the Trainees wanted to be able to celebrate. It took lots of convincing from everyone, but they were given permission to go and buy gifts in the city. And with even more begging, they were allowed to have a holiday party in the facility. None of the teams were able to go at the same time and extensive security was provided for each trip. While out, Trinity and Sapphire took it upon themselves to pick out outfits for the party as well. All of the trainees were extremely excited to partake in this event. It was expected that everyone was going to attend. Food and drinks were going to be provided by the facility. Except for some security, the agents were going to leave and allow them to have fun.

Trinity was beyond excited about the party coming up in a few hours. She had taken the time to pick out the right gifts for all of her friends. Though she had to strategically hide them in her room since all of Team Alpha casually walks into the room multiple times a day. They were wrapped and labeled. Her outfit was hanging up in a garment bag. She had promised to get ready with Sapphire after all the decorations were done. ”Happy Holidays mom. We will talk later.” She said on her way to the training arena. It was the biggest space in the facility and it was cleared out for the party. She hung up her phone and stepped through the door. It was beautiful. ”Saph, you have outdone yourself.” She said. If anyone didn’t know better, they wouldn’t have thought that this used to be a training ground. The Christmas tree was the best part. It was extremely tall and heavily decorated with beautiful ornaments. The star was bright. Trinity already knew that Sapphire’s gadgets helped her make this room look amazing. The tables were already set up for food with space for a dance floor. ”Okay how can I help? I wanna speed this up so we can get ready.” Trinity stated excitedly.

Josiah wasn’t the most sentimental on Team Alpha. He wasn’t very good at gifts, but they were given permission to get gifts for everyone. It took longer than he would like to admit, but he got gifts for everyone. He was really hoping that they all liked them. Hiding his gifts, however, was easy. His room for the most part was always empty. Sapphire practically moved in with Ruby and only stops by when she runs out of clothes or gadgets to mess with. He did have to make a second trip out of the facility since he discovered the party was a formal one. Josiah doesn’t have anything formal and the last formal clothes he wore was on a mission months ago. It took him just as long and several facetime calls with both Maggie and Sapphire before he found something that would look good on him. The outfit was hanging up, ready to go. He was walking around in workout gear however, because he had agreed to finish up decorations for the party. Sapphire was practically in charge of it and all she had to do was say please with puppy dog eyes. Josiah folded pretty quickly. He helped put up the giant and heavy Christmas tree, but he wasn’t done. Though he was hoping that he was. He wanted to lounge around in his relaxing clothes before being put in a stuffy suit. Josiah waltzed through the door. ”Oh. It looks like you are basically done. And Trin is here which means I don’t have to do anything.” He said with a smile on his face.

Recovery was hard. That was one thing Dom was sure of, since he’d never gotten an injury quite this bad. He only stayed in the infirmary for one night, and by the evening the next day, he was cleared to go back to his room for the night. That didn’t mean he was all good to go; he still had to prove himself well enough to train, which was difficult with a bruised windpipe. Physical injuries aside, he was having terrible nightmares almost every night of the villain coming back and finishing the job in his sister’s appearance. There was a bright side to it all, considering he’d finally admitted his feelings for Trinity. The first thing he wanted when he got out of the infirmary was to cuddle in bed with her, like she’d tried to do in the infirmary. It was so much easier to do since they were roommates, and even if he couldn’t sleep, he would hold Trinity close and listen to her slow breathing as she slept. It was a calming feeling, and having this time alone with her made it easier to deal with the antics of his other two teammates.

Sapphire made sure to visit Dom frequently, and when she wasn’t with Team Alpha, she was hanging out with Ruby or working on a gadget in her room… usually with Ruby as well. She kept the secret of Goldmine even from Ruby, it was just her and Josiah that were in the know. It was better that way, and when it came to missions, the teams weren’t too involved with each other. She was sure Ruby would understand, she was from a prominent hero family who put their reputation before everything else - considering she was supposedly arranged to marry another trainee with a ‘compatible ability’ - but she didn’t want to spread family drama especially since it wasn’t her own drama. She’d kept Ruby’s secret arrangement, so she would keep Dom’s sister drama too.

Sapphire busied herself with the Christmas party. She was surprised that the agents were okay with it, but she figured after all the trauma they went through as a team it was only fair they gave them this. They even were able to go out to D.C. with plenty of security, to get gifts for each other. Sapphire was sneaky with trying to get gifts for the team and Ruby, though it took some time to really figure out what to get, especially for the boys. It was easy for Ruby and Trinity, she understood the girls and what they liked, but Dom was still a mystery to her outside of his abilities and skills as a teammate and Josiah really liked food over everything else. But finally she had everything chosen and managed to find the perfect dress for the party. She even had time to help Trinity find outfits for the boys, and something for Ruby to look extra nice by her side. Sapphire had somehow been appointed the party planner, but she didn’t mind the responsibility. She’d rather take over than seeing one of the boys try it, and she was at peace decorating and planning everything.

Once Dom had gotten back into training, his mind was fully focused on training and recovery. And Trinity of course, any time they had to relax. The party snuck up on him, and he had to get help from the girls to find a decent outfit for the party. Though Sapphire seemed to take care of the party planning, she was more of a host than a holiday guest. He knew the girls would need more time than him and Josiah, so he made his way over to the space where they were having the party. Trinity and Josiah were already there, so he gently sat the gifts he’d gotten for his teammates under the tree and looked around. ”You did a great job Sapphire. I’m sure Team Omega will appreciate this just as much as we do,” Dom commented as he watched Sapphire climb down from the tree and wipe sweat from her brow.

”Yeah, it helps when you have a bunch of robots to do the heavy lifting,” Sapphire said with a chuckle, though she did have a light blush with all of the compliments. Even after being on the team for almost a year now, she still was working on accepting compliments and actually being noticed for her talents. ”Now that everything’s set up, I have just enough time to get ready. Trin, you want to come get ready with me?” Sapphire asked, pulling Trinity away before she could answer. She had a new focus now: get details from Trinity about her feelings for Dom. She had no idea what they’d talked about after his confession during the mission, and she wanted to know if it had gone any further or if they’d talked about that. She also really enjoyed when they had girl time alone, to just talk and be friends.

Trinity was more than ready to help Sapphire with anything she could have needed for the holiday party. Though it seemed like the whole thing was put together and ready to go. Josiah and Dom had the same idea. Sapphire had most of her help from bots which made putting everything together ten times easier as a hundred times faster. Trinity was fine with not having to do any heavy lifting. It was going to take her and Sapphire a long while to get ready for the party. Mostly because they spend a lot of time talking and getting distracted from actually getting ready. But it was always worth it. Trinity barely got a word out before Sapphire took a hold of her. A small giggle left her lips. ”Yes of course. We will see you boys later.” She said following her friend out of the arena. Trinity was kind of hoping to spend some time with Dom before the holiday party since they hadn’t really made it to the PDA part of their relationship so she would mostly have to be hands off. Trinity just made a mental note to make up for it after the party.

On their way to Sapphire’s room, they swung by Trinity’s room to pick up all of her stuff she needed to get ready. Trinity made sure to hang her dress up and then laid out all of her makeup and hair stuff on Josiah’s side of the room. ”Tell me what you got the boys for Christmas? I felt super clueless shopping for both of them.” Trinity double checking to make sure that she had everything she needed. She was actually really excited to get changed. The dress was much girlier than she would have picked on her own, but it was beautiful. It looked amazing when she tried it on and now she was going to be able to show it off in front of Dom no less. ”Oh and Ruby too! I wanna know what you got her.” She said out of curiosity.

Josiah was kind of glad that he didn’t have to help set anything up. Most of it was complete with the magical use of bots. It was well put together and made the facility look less like a prison. He was mostly focused on being able to enjoy free time now that there wasn’t anything else to do in the arena. True free time was something that he holds near and dear to his heart. With all the intensive training as of late, rest days were a blessing. Having this party was a miracle and he was planning on revealing in it, his way. Starting with no physical labor prior to being shoved into a suit. Josiah still wasn’t looking forward to having to get so dressed up, but was happy that the suit was going to look nice on him. Sapphire and Trinity ran off giggling. He was assuming they were going to do something girly. Josiah didn’t really understand it, but he was really proud of himself for making sure that the gifts were hidden away in his room. Another one was hidden somewhere within the facility so he would have to fetch it at a later time. Josiah rolled his eyes playfully as the girls left him alone with Dom.

Turning to look at his teammate, a slightly wicked smile came to his face. ”Oh you are coming with me.” Ever since Trinity and Dom had their talk, Josiah has been holding his tongue. Mostly because Sapphire thought it would be a good idea to leave them alone about it. He only agreed because Saph seemed serious about the request. But now Dom and Josiah were alone. He wasn’t going to hold back with any of the questions. He was hoping to frustrate Dom to the point where he would just tell him to get him to leave him alone which is good enough. Josiah started playfully pushing Dominic out of the arena towards his teammate’s room. Josiah knew his room was going to be the one used for the girls so that meant Dom’s room was open. When they got there, he ran to sit up on Trinity’s bed. ”Alright. I have been as quiet as I can, but you need to ease my sanity. What happened after you and Trinity talked?” He asked, getting straight to the point. As annoying as Josiah can be, he really just wanted all of his teammates to be happy. He was prepared to hear bad news as well even if doesn’t think he will get any. Either way, Josiah was ready to celebrate or comfort his friend.

Sapphire enjoyed her friendship with Trinity. She was the best friend she’d always wanted, someone to talk to about anything. They’d supported each other through the trauma that the hero service had brought them both and were stronger as heroes and teammates because of it. It was also nice to have some to have around for the normal girly things, like getting ready for parties and talking about the people they liked. As Sapphire pulled out her things, Trinity was asking her what she’d gotten for the boys and for Ruby. She’d found a sapphire ring that she thought would be perfect as a promise ring for Ruby, but that was supposed to stay a surprise for all of the party guests. ”Well, I want to keep Ruby’s secret until the party, but I didn’t really find anything special for the boys. Just some new gauntlets for Dom and I worked on some combat items for Josiah too. I’m not very good at gifts, what did you do?” Sapphire asked. Truthfully, she’d made some special weaponry for Trinity too, so all of her teammates were getting hero-related stuff from her.

But thinking of that reminded her of a burning question she had for Trinity. ”Speaking of the boys,” Sapphire starts, turning back to look at Trinity while starting her makeup, ”You and Dom have been hanging out a lot. I’m guessing you two talked about what he said at the end of the mission?” Sapphire asks, wanting to know where her two teammates were at in figuring out their relationship. They had been spending more time together, which was a good sign, but they were also roommates and already trained together a lot before the mission so she couldn’t be totally sure. She did hear how desperate Dom was to tell her when he thought it could be his end, and she wanted them to talk to each other about their feelings before it was too late. They weren’t guaranteed to come back from any mission, so there was no use waiting to tell anyone anything. That was the reasoning Sapphire told herself when she had first admitted to liking Ruby, at least.

Dom wasn’t surprised how much Sapphire was able to accomplish on her own. She could build her own robot hero and he wouldn’t be surprised if it worked. She was intelligent and knew how to use her ability to make incredible gadgets, and yet she still worried about being taken from the field team or not being as worthy to be on the team as the rest of them. Even this party during their down time proved her skill. But she was still a girl, and rushed Trinity off to get ready with her. ”Just remember it starts in a couple hours, don’t be late,” Dom calls after the girls, knowing they could often get distracted by their conversations. Josiah took this upon himself to designate Dom as his own getting ready partner, and practically shoved him towards Dom’s room since the girls were taking over the room he shared with Sapphire.

He huffed once they were alone, folding his arms over his chest. ”You didn’t have to shove me into my own room, Josiah,” Dom says with a roll of his eyes, but he isn’t annoyed for long as Josiah mentions the talk. The mission, while traumatic and something he was still working through, did come with one positive: his new relationship with Trinity. ”Well… we’re trying things out,” Dom finally admits, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. Even admitting it to Josiah was something he was nervous to do, though Josiah and Sapphire had been practically begging for it to happen. ”We haven’t decided on any labels or anything, but she knows how I feel and I know how she feels,” Dom adds, feeling comfort despite the labels not being there. Just knowing they were sticking to each other and trying this out was enough to make his heart flutter.

Trinity loved having girls time with Sapphire. They usually only get to hang out when they escape out of the facility. In between training days, Sapphire usually spent them with Ruby and Trinity spends it with Dominic. But it was going to be nice spending these couple of hours with her new best friend. Especially because they were going to be getting all dressed up for a party. Hopefully they didn’t get carried away and end up late to the party that they had begged to have it in the first place. Sapphire got the boys such great gifts. ”I got Josiah a vintage gameboy since he is always so bored on our days off and Dom was honestly the hardest to shop for. But I got him some new headphones for when he does he trains or workouts by himself.” Trinity was really hoping that her friends liked their gifts. She would return every single one of them and get them something different if it was going to make them happy. She got Sapphire a vintage polaroid camera. She was always toying with the latest and greatest tech. She thought her friend would appreciate something old school. It was making Trinity even more excited to exchange gifts with everyone at the party.

As she was setting up the rest of her things to start getting ready, Sapphire brought up how much time she was spending with Dom. Trinity blushed a bit and with a sheepish grin. So much for being subtle around her other two teammates. She wasn’t sure how to answer it. ”Umm yes we did…” Trinity let the silence linger between them a little before releasing a deep sigh and sitting down in the nearby chair. ”I like him so much Saph. And he likes me too. When we are alone in our room, we can talk about it and do all the cute stuff couples get to do. But we haven’t made it official with labels or anything.” Trinity admitted, pushing some hair behind her ear. ”But I kind of wish we had a label so I can tell people, but I don’t want to push him since it took us this long just to get here.” Trinity added. She was really happy with her relationship no matter what names they used. However, it would be nice to be able to do some of the stuff they do in private in front of other people. Trinity was still a bit nervous regarding their relationship since it was new to the both of them.

Josiah thought he would have to put up more of a fight to get Dominic to talk. Especially since that talk that happened between Dom and trinity was done in secret. But his teammate was fairly honest and told him what happened. Josiah always loved embarrassing his friends and the hardest one to embarrass was Dom. He was always calm, cool, and collected. But when it came to talking about Trinity and his feelings, it was like all of that disappeared. It was interesting to watch and he was wondering how much longer he could keep Dominic in this state. ”As long as you are both happy.” Josiah looked over Dominic and then squinted his eyes at him. ”And I’m not giving you a choice about that. You have to be happy.” Josiah teased playfully. As annoying as he can be, he only ever cares for his friends’ wellbeing. Watching two of them clearly pine over each other and pretend that they didn’t was making them all miserable. Dom and Trinity both looked happier even if they were keeping their relationship kind of private at this moment. It was good enough for Josiah so he decided to stop making him slightly red in the face.

Anyway, what did you get the girls? I suck at shopping and I was worried whatever I got wasn’t girly enough for them.” He said with a laugh. It took him longer to find gifts for all of his friends then it was to find the formal monkey suit he needed to attend the Christmas party. Which he still was not looking forward to being put into. Josiah knew he was going to look amazing, but his t-shirt and joggers were always the most comfortable to him. ”I got Trinity some ninja stars and I managed to sneak a kitten into the facility to give to Sapphire as a pet.” Josiah stated nonchalantly ”Hopefully she comes up with a name for her because I have been just calling her Kitty.” Josiah added with a laugh.

Truthfully, Sapphire was not spending as much time with Trinity as she wanted to. Between all the long hours of training their agents had them do and alone time with their respective partners, the girls barely saw each other outside of being teammates. It was great to have a few hours with just the two of them to focus on each other’s lives and looking pretty for the party. They never got to relax like this, any of them on Team Omega or Team Alpha. But somehow they managed to convince their agents to throw this party, which Sapphire partially believed was approved because of the issues with their missions. Sapphire wasn’t upset with that; if she had to take a limp to get a party with her friends, she was ready for it. And it sounded like Trinity did well with her gifts. ”Man, you did really well! I’m sure the guys will love those. I should have just given you my money to find things for them,” Sapphire says with a laugh, turning on her heating tools for her hair.

She immediately took notice of Trinity’s blushing when she mentioned Dom. She was very interested to hear what Trinity had to say, considering Dom wasn’t the most emotionally available person. She didn’t blame Trinity for not wanting to admit her feelings to someone as intimidating as Dom. Though it did sound like it went well, other than the fact that he wasn’t ready for a label necessarily. ”I don’t blame him. It took time for me and Ruby to put a label on anything, mainly because of me though. It doesn’t surprise me with him, but at least he’s finally said something to you. I would focus on the positive,” Sapphire replies, trying to look towards the positivity. It was hard to figure things out just as two young adults, it was even harder as hero teammates, and would be especially difficult to be on the same team. Sapphire hoped for the best, and would definitely have to relay this new information to Josiah.

Dom had found himself relying on Josiah to confide in recently. He wasn’t sure what had broken down in between them, possibly from having to carry each other back from near death missions. It wasn’t like him, but it was nice to have another guy to confide in that wasn’t going to pick at every one of his weaknesses. He rolled his eyes at Josiah’s comment, but still managed to laugh. ”I don’t think that’ll be an issue, but I appreciate your concern,” Dom finally replies. At least, he hoped that it would stay that way. They’d talked about how good they felt together, but there was still worry, at least on Dom’s part. He knew Trinity wasn’t like the last girl he dated, but he still felt some anxiety about it. Plus they were going to be heroes, which didn’t protect them from not getting hurt. Now that they were developing these stronger, romantic feelings for each other, he didn’t know how he would react if Trinity got hurt. He knew she could protect herself, but that didn’t protect him from worrying.

But, he wasn’t going to worry on the night of their party. Josiah asked what he had got the girls, and mentioned that he’d gotten a cat for Sapphire. He raised his eyebrows at such a risky gift, but it sounded like something she would like. ”I hope that your cat idea doesn’t get us all in trouble with the agents,” Dom says, only imagining how upset the agents would be if they found out. He’d already planted his own gifts, which he was proud of considering he wasn’t the best at gifts. ”I got Sapphire some gloves and a visor that will protect her hands and eyes for when she’s making gadgets. And I was able to find a more feminine version of the necklace Trinity got me, so I got her a matching necklace.”

Trinity was over thinking the labels on the relationship way too much. Luckily, Sapphire was there to remind her she was doing just that. Focusing on the positives was all that mattered. Being able to share and explore the growing romantic feelings she had for him was amazing and a weight off her shoulder. What he had with Dominic was new, but she was happy with it. Over time they would get to more, but right now she was just happy with how open they were now. ”You’re right. This whole thing with him is amazing and anything more would probably make my heart explode.” She added with a giggle. She knows all the feelings for him were positive and she was still just trying to process them. Maybe it was good that they were taking things slow. It was good for her. ”Aren’t yours and Ruby’s label make you two practically married?” Trinity teased her friend. Ruby and Sapphire basically lived together and were joined at the hip whenever Saph wasn’t with Team Alpha. She wouldn’t be shocked if they were practically engaged at this point. Of course she was only kidding and is just happy for how happy Sapphire is. ”Can I call Ruby my sister in law?” She asked with some excitement.

Josiah laughed a bit about Dominic’s comment with getting them all in trouble because of the cat. ”I would never dream of getting us in trouble. Besides if we get caught, all I have to do is beg Agent Gupta. She will let us keep the kitten.” He added. Josiah was more than willing to take the blame for the cat, but they were all keeping it. It was basically the team mascot at this point. Also Josiah likes the kitten so it was going to stay regardless of the decision made. She was an honorary team member. Josiah was rather impressed with the gifts that Dom got for the girls. It was thoughtful and he was sure that they would like them. ”Aww matching necklaces for the happy couple. Does it have the letter “D” on it for your name?” Josiah asked, deciding to go back to teasing his friend. His eyes grew wide as a devious thought came into his mind. ”How many mistletoes do you think it will take for you to kiss Trinity? Cause I am willing to put as many as it takes. Actually you know what...don’t answer that. I’m just gonna do it.” He added, laughing in between his words.

Sapphire enjoyed seeing her friend happy. Trinity and Dom were two people who were more than deserving of that happiness, and she was determined to protect their relationship from any obstacles. Trinity mentioned how close she and Ruby were, like they should be engaged at this point. It made her giggle, but it fell as she fought with the worrying thoughts that had plagued her since Ruby revealed a secret of her future. ”I hope so. I want to be with her,” Sapphire says with a sigh, hoping Ruby would be okay with her admitting the secret to Trinity. If anything, it would be a secret between her and Trinity that she even told. ”She comes from a long line of people with powerful abilities, so her parents have arranged her to marry another trainee,” Sapphire finally confesses. It was why she wanted to spend every second she could with Ruby; she wasn’t sure when would be her last. Of course, they’d talked about staying together anyway despite the arrangement, but Sapphire wasn’t going to set her hopes too high. She took a calming breath, and smiled for her friend. ”No need to dwell on that. We have a party to enjoy. And get ready for before the boys start rushing us,” Sapphire changes the subject, focusing on her hair instead.

Dom knew Josiah must have had a plan if he was so confident that he would bring in a kitten. And he was right, Agent Gupta was the most lenient of the agents, and if anyone were to accept the kitten, it would be her. ”Right, because all those times we snuck out weren’t your idea that could have gotten us in trouble,” Dom says with a snort. He didn’t want to mention that they actually did get in trouble after what happened with Sapphire, there was no reason to ruin the mood. And he couldn’t help but glare at Josiah’s teasing about his gift and the mistletoe. ”No, it’s just a simple necklace. And I’m not ready to tell Team Omega about me and Trinity yet, so you should probably cool it with the mistletoe. I don’t think Trinity wants to say anything either, except for Sapphire. I’m sure they’re talking about it now,” Dom mentions. He was nervous enough to tell Josiah, and Team Omega would only make it worse. He did want to kiss her under the mistletoe, but hopefully in a more private location where he could focus on the two of them.

Trinity was even more happy that she was able to start referring to Ruby as her sister in law. She was already so close to Sapphire that she was like the sister she never had. So to have Ruby as well just made their small family that much bigger. Though she ate her words when Sapphire revealed a secret that she was going to swear to keep. She couldn’t believe that Ruby would be engaged to someone else. Just imagining her with someone other than Sapphire seemed impossible. Those two were amazing together. It actually broke Trinity’s heart that the idea of Sapphire getting her heart broken. So many questions swirled through her head and she wanted to ask all of them. However, Sapphire changed to the subject and it was probably best. Trinity didn’t want to upset her friend, especially not right before a party. ”I wouldn’t put it past Josiah to just physically come and drag us out of here whether we are readying or not.” Trinity went along with the subject change and also started working on her hair.

Josiah crossed his arms like an upset toddler. He really wanted to hang up the mistletoes. He would be able to embarrass both of his teammates at the same time with his plan. However, he will respect his friends wishes. ”Fine, but only because I’m in the holiday spirit.” He added. He can always embarrass them another day. In fact, just making sure that they are aware he could embarrass them at any time was enough for him. ”They are probably talking about a whole bunch of stuff I wouldn’t understand. As long as its only good things about me.” He added. Girl talk wasn’t his forte, but he figured that was what they were doing since they were girls. Josiah slid off Trinity’s bed and stretched. ”Alright, I’m gonna start getting ready. Or really, I’m gonna go bother Maggie and then I’m gonna go get ready.” He said with a devious grin and then slipped out of Dom’s room.

As expected, the boys were ready within moments. Josiah was just hanging out with Maggie, but then he realized that his room was occupied and he couldn’t get dressed in there. He just remained in Maggie’s room and got dressed around her massive girly mess. He said goodbye to her and started making his way to the arena. He was very happy that he managed to get his gifts and put them under the tree earlier. The kitten was still in hiding, but he would fetch her when the time was right. When he walked into the arena, food and drinks were displayed on the far tables. The arena lights were dimmed and the Christmas tree lights were shining brightly. The music was loud, but not too loud to keep from having conversations. He saw Cameron and Douglas just talking so he went over there to join them while waiting for everyone else to show up.

Trinity and Sapphire were barely finished getting ready on time. There was a lot of work put in to make each strand of hair was remained right where they wanted it and all the make up was done just the way they liked it. Their outfits were pristine and perfect and they couldn't move to fast or it would ruin it. All the mattered is they were ready to meet up with the boys. Trinity gathered up all the wrapped gifts she brought with her to Sapphire's room to take to the arena to place under the tree. Once they were both ready, they started making their way to meet up with everyone.

Sapphire was glad that Trinity didn’t push the situation with Ruby. It was something that kept Sapphire up some nights, wondering if it was worth it. She told herself it was with the way her heart pounded when she saw Ruby, and the way she melted at Ruby’s touch, it had to be true. And she was going to enjoy her time with Ruby, however long she had. She would enjoy her time with Trinity too, and she would be a sister-in-law regardless of who Sapphire was with. Trinity was her sister now, more than just a good friend. ”He did carry me out of Ruby’s room once, I definitely believe it,” Sapphire replies with a laugh. She was excited for the party, but she also didn’t want to stop hanging out with Trinity. She really was the sister she always wanted, and they didn’t get to do this very often. She made sure that Trinity checked over her hair, makeup, and dress, she had to look perfect for their party tonight.

Dom didn’t have to endure Josiah’s teasing for long, as he decided to go and bother Maggie before the party. Dom did feel a bit of relief, having told someone his feelings for Trinity and that they were together. It gave him just enough time to get dressed for the party. He was looking forward to the party, despite the fact that social events like this weren’t really his thing. He’d been dragged to a few parties in high school, but most of the time was spent being asked about his pro siblings and leaving early because he didn’t want to talk about them. This would be a different party, his teammates and Team Omega didn’t care who his siblings were. He hadn’t talked to Kimberly since the incident, mainly because she didn’t answer the one time he mustered the courage to call. He did reach Xavier, and it was the first time he’d heard Xavier so concerned. Neither had visited, which had bothered Dom at first, but he chalked it up to being busy in the field. That was another reason he wanted to enjoy this party, they never got free time as trainees and it would only get worse once they were professionals.

The party jumped to life as all the trainees started to enter. Sapphire found Ruby right away, making sure to give Ruby as many compliments as she would accept of her formal wear. They kept their outfits secret from each other, and both were smitten over their partner’s outfit. Dom hadn’t seen Trinity’s dress other than when she first showed her choice to him, and she was practically glowing under the Christmas lights. He made his way over to her, avoiding the mistletoe he saw hung in the air despite his warnings to Josiah. He smiled as he walked up to her, ”Wow… you look really beautiful tonight, Trin,” Dom greets her, his face slightly pink as he looks her over. Everyone had gotten out their best clothes for the event, and Trinity was no exception. He wasn’t sure how secret he could keep their relationship when all he wanted to do was kiss her.

Trinity had already expressed how well of a job that Sapphire did making the facility look less like a government building. But to see it in its full glory with the Christmas tree lit almost took her breath away. She could feel the holiday spirit and joy from everyone once she walked into the facility. Most of Team Omega was there dressed in their formal wear. Josiah was there with the boys from Team Omega, chatting away and he looked very nice in his outfit. Sapphire left Trinity’s side and went to find Ruby, which she didn’t expect anything less. Ruby also looked amazing in her outfit, but Sapphire handled giving her all the compliments Trinity decided to do the same with Dom, but he managed to find her first. A light blush came to her face as she smiled brightly at his compliment. ”Th-thank you..You look very handsome as well.”. She had seen the outfit he had chosen and knew it was going to look nice but it looked even better on him. After all this time she has spent with Dom, she thought she would eventually be less nervous being around him. Instead, she was even more nervous and instead of just burying her face in his chest like she would when they were alone, she had to just brush it off. ”S-sorry we didn’t get to hang out much before the party.” She apologized while twiddling her thumbs.

Josiah glanced around to see the rest of his team finally walking through the entrance. Though by the way they looked, he was kind of starting to understand why they took so long. Both Sapphire and Trinity looked amazing in their holiday outfits. He can only imagine the whole thing deserved as much time as it took for them to get ready. He raised an eyebrow when he realized someone was missing. ”Where is Maggie?” Josiah was in her room earlier when she was in the process of getting ready. He didn’t think it was possible for her to take longer than the other two girls. Just then, Maggie waltzed through the entrance with two medium sized paper bags in her hand. She skipped right over to Josiah, a bright smile on her face. ”Oh wow...I didn’t think you could actually look nice.” Maggie teased, making Josiah laugh. ”I was just thinking the same thing about you. Now what's that?” Josiah asked, pointing to the bags. Maggie’s friendly smile switched to a devious one as she opened them up for him to see what it was. His eyes grew wide at the various bottles of alcohol she had. ”Where did you even..?” Maggie closed the bag back up. ”It’s probably better that you don’t know. Now if you will excuse me, I wanna give everyone their gifts.” Maggie skipped off around Josiah to the boys. ”Ruby! Come here, I promise to return you to Sapphire but I want to give you your gift.”

Josiah rolled his eyes playfully and grabbed his gifts from under the tree to do the same thing. He skipped up to Dom and Trinity, handing each of them a decorated christmas present. ”Merry Christmas, you crazy kids”. Josiah bought Dom a hunting knife. Small enough to conceal but deadly when used correctly. He figured Dom would be able to use it during missions involving combat. He thought the same when picking out Trinity’s gift. Ninja stars were the one thing Josiah had not seen her use in the year that he had known her. Trinity opened her box and gasped in delight. ”These are amazing!” Trinity has never had ninja stars before and was beyond excited to train with them. She usually doesn’t work with daggers or sharp weapons so this would be a good change. Trinity gave Josiah a hug and then closed up the box. ”I have your gift too..” ”Hold that thought...i have to get Sapphire's gift from out of hiding.” Josiah skipped off and Trinity shrugged it off. She handed Dom his gift with a smile. ”I hope you like it.” She decided to get the headphones in black just in case the color choices were too much for him. She also handed Sapphire her gift when she wandered over. Trinity was hoping that she would like the polaroid camera. Either using it as is or messing with it to give it some flare.

Dom was glad they were having the party. After what they and Team Omega had gone through over the last year, it was only fair that they were given this time to relax and just enjoy each other’s company. Almost everyone on Team Alpha had experienced a near death event and they were finally allowed to take a moment and be young adults, not these heroes taking on dangerous criminals. And he took in all of the party’s decorations around them, but none of it was as beautiful as Trinity in front of him. He’d seen the dress when she’d got it originally but nothing compared to seeing her in it now with her hair and makeup done. ”It’s okay, we’re here together. We’ll make up for it and have a good time,” Dom answers, unable to take his eyes off of Trinity.

Sapphire was glad that she’d programmed the bots with decorating skills because she couldn’t recognize their training space from an event hall. Being here with Ruby and all their friends made her feel on top of the world. Sapphire took hold of Ruby’s hand, watching Dom and Trinity interact. ”They're like two baby deer learning how to walk, it’s so adorable,” Sapphire whispers into Ruby’s ear, giggling. It only made Ruby roll her eyes, whispering back, ”You should have seen how you looked the first time I kissed you, I wouldn’t be too judgmental, Gem.” Ruby teased her back, causing Sapphire to go bright red and slap her on the shoulder. She was nervous dating someone for the first time, even if it wasn’t someone as intimidating as Dom. She could only relate to Trinity’s anxiousness so much considering she was dating an overconfident girl and not a robot that was finally learning his emotions.

Ruby was the one to notice the paper bags in Maggie’s hands and waltzed over once Maggie called her name. ”You give me one of those paper bags and that’s all the gift I need, Mags,” Ruby called at her teammate, kissing Sapphire on the cheek. Sapphire made her way to her own team, gifts in tow. Sapphire started beaming at the Polaroid camera that Trinity had gotten her, rambling to her about getting some film and taking photos of everyone. Dom had given her the gloves and visor that was going to help her with working on gadgets, and it was probably the first time she ever hugged Dom out of excitement. She gave him the gauntlets that she had gotten for him, but when she went to give Josiah the combat items she had made for him, he had snuck off. She decided to at least give Trinity the gift she’d gotten, ”I figured we usually buy clothes together so it’d be better to get you a practical gift,” Sapphire says with a big grin.

Dom was appreciative of his own gifts. The hunting knife from Josiah that would be perfect to keep on him for missions and safety precautions if he ever needed to travel. Then Trinity gave him the headphones, which was perfect for when he was training. ”This is great, Trin, thank you,” Dom said with a small smile, pulling her into a hug. Unbeknownst to him, Sapphire had put mistletoes all over the ceiling, and Trinity and Dom had ended up under one. He had looked up just as he gave Trinity the little box with the matching necklace in it. He looked back down to Trinity, biting his lip before leaning in for a quick peck. ”I hope you like it.”
