Nickname: Kit (Calling her anything else is sure to upset her).
Age: 19
Date of Birth: 03/09/1995
Gender: Female
Nationality: English
Sexuality: Technically pansexual, though seems to lean more towards asexual.
Species: Kitsune/werefox
Height & Weight: 5'4 in height, 120 lbs in weight.
Hair: Dark brown, fairly long, generally worn in two plaits.
Physical description: A relatively small woman with pointed features, dark hair & pretty blue eyes. Her skin is pale & soft, unblemished & her hair is healthy & glossy. Her nails, due to her compulsive grooming habit, are immaculate, though she never really sees reason for makeup of any sort unless she's 'dressing up'. Other than her dark hair, she resembles her mother a whole lot.
Everyday apparel: She likes lace, corsets, 'flowing' things, floral designs, converse sneakers, long black&white striped socks & the brown felt jacket, tattered to bits, which is the only piece of 'evidence' she has about her father. She almost never wears makeup.
FC: Zooey Deschanel
Personality:
Kit is almost always happy. That is by far the most remarkable thing about her personality. She tends to want to automatically befriend everybody, & is incredibly open with strangers. She seems to trust everybody, probably a bit too much for her own good. In her mind, the idea that people could be less 'friendly' or 'honest' than her has never occurred to her. If people are lying, she doesn't see it as a character flaw, only an interesting lead in her detective games.
Kit never lies, exactly, but she does play pretend a lot. In many ways, she's still a child, lost in a naive & innocent world which is only a game.
The idea that her father abandoned her has never crossed her mind. She believes he was called away on some urgent matter & that he'll have interesting stories to tell her when he returns. It may partially be her mother's fault that she lives in this fantasy. Her mother never wanted to upset Kit, ever, even if it meant stunting certain important learning developments in the young Kitsune. While her mother didn't invent the fantasies, she never made an effort to open Kit's eyes to reality.
She doesn't like when others are 'mean', & will always speak her mind about it. Trying to understand less-than-honorable motives in others is a very difficult thing for Kit.
As for being a werefox, she delights in the fact. She loves animals, adores their uncomplicated, never-sinister minds, & being part-animal is an absolute blessing to her. Her mother always emphasized this, as well, which ensured she never felt isolated or 'freakish'.
Hobbies/Interests:
- Bird watching, >:]
- Singing,
- Drawing,
- Reading,
- 'Solving mysteries'
- Animals, & supernatural entities like herself who are part-animal,
Quirks/Habits:
- Cleans/shapes her nails obsessively,
- Likes quoting song lyrics in place of actual conversation,
- Seems to think everything is a 'clue' in some great mystery,
Dislikes:
- Spiders,
- Dirt under her fingernails,
- Manual labor,
- 'Boring' people, e.g, people who won't play 'detective' games with her,
- Shouting,
Weaknesses:
- Has trouble understanding many concepts, particularly if they are complex or very adult,
- Cannot tolerate loud noises (will most likely cover her ears & cry),
Strengths:
- Is rarely phased by anything,
- Is very fast, & a good climber,
- Is an expert at staying hidden,
Talents:
Other than the fact she has a pretty singing voice & draws quite well, the only thing about Kit that could remotely be called a talent is the fact she remembers every detail about people & places. Remembering 'clues' is very important to her.
Job?:
Nope! That would involve manual labor, wouldn't it? She does like to pretend she's a detective, though.
Education: Minimal. Whilst she can read & write okay, she never even went to high school. Her mother wanted to keep her safe from people who may not understand or accept Kit's 'differences', knowing full-well that her daughter would be eager to let the whole world know that she was a werefox. If she was believed, that could be bad enough (knowing how humans treated the supernatural in HER day) & if she wasn't, & they thought she was mad... No, her mother decided it was better to keep her away from all that... just in case.
Normal Possessions: A diary to keep 'detective' notes in & a fox bracelet from her mother.
Parents: Her dad took off when she was pretty young, too weirded out by the whole 'fox' thing, probably. That never really bothered Kit much, aside from the fact that he was her first real 'mystery' & most likely the driving force behind the obsession she carries into adulthood. She never did manage to track him down, though. But then, as soon as she was in school, there were 1000 other things to hold her interest instead.
Her mother, Delores Kennedy, on the other hand, had always been a supportive & guiding figure in her life (being Kitsune herself), & ensured that Kit never felt strange or different (at least not in a bad way). She was a gentle woman who appreciated art, and encouraged Kit to turn any emotion, positive or negative, into songs or pictures. However, just recently, Delores fell drastically ill. Unable to be there for her beloved daughter, Delores decided it was in Kit's best interest to be with her own.
Perhaps it is her somewhat childlike mind, but the werefox doesn't seem to understand her mother isn't going to be around for much longer.
Siblings: None. Kit did not have any littermates, but she tends to automatically think any other Kitsune is her brother/sister (perhaps because she's always really, really wanted one).
Current Relationships: Kit has never been in a romantic relationship, mostly due to misunderstandings. She tends not to understand the hints people give off about being interested in her, & since she's never felt anything more than a fleeting crush, she's never been the one to initiate anything.
In fact, she's only been kissed twice. The first time was a pleasant memory, of a nice boy when she was fifteen or so. Unfortunately for him, she failed to understand what being someone's 'girlfriend' meant after he asked. The poor guy had spent many weeks waiting around for the strange young Kitsune before he finally decided to move on. She was very confused by his distress the next time she saw him.
The other time was a not-so-nice memory, & a bit scary, of a guy only a few years ago, who smelt of alcohol & kissed her so hard her lips clashed against her teeth & drew blood. Then he was tugging at her clothing & pushing her around, & she was so confused & frightened, she simply fled. She avoided speaking to that guy in the future. Fortunately for her, he didn't stay around for too long.
Reply sample:
"You have to go away, my darling" her mother had said earlier that week. "But you'll have a lot of fun, I promise. There'll be other foxes there, I'm sure of it"
"But why?" Kit had asked, gripping her mother's hand, concern on her features.
Delores coughed weakly, gazing with love upon her daughter from the hospital bed. "I'm not well. I can't be around for you anymore. I love you, my darling. I'll see you again soon. I promise".
Kit had been nervous, yes, but she didn't feel the same fear other people might have felt in her situation. She didn't understand exactly how unwell her mother was, despite the fact Delores had explained it (gently, of course) many times. She was also perfectly excited; plenty of people, was it? Other foxes, could it be? That only meant for a great many mysteries to solve!
She had only ever met one other Kitsune (apart from her mother), and for some reason, that fox hadn't been very kind to her. He had called her a child & told her she shouldn't speak so loudly about what they were, said not all humans were as 'sickly sweet' as she was. Mother had said the same thing before, too.
Once, she'd even said "That's why your father left. Because he was a human. Should've known better".
"Why do you say that, mother?" Kit asked, tilting her head slightly. "Why would he leave just because he was human?"
Delores's face twitched momentarily, but then a soft smile came in it's place. "No matter, my darling. I haven't a clue why he left us, really"
Kit frowned, swinging the fox pendant on her bracelet as she pondered what her mother really meant that day.
She was sitting in a chair, waiting impatiently, her bags at her feet & her father's jacket thrown lazily over her shoulder. When was it that she could meet some other foxes, huh? When?
As she eyed off what she could currently see of the building she was in, she nodded with satisfaction. There was definitely a lot of mysteries which needed her skills in this place.
