Personality:
Genevieve is known as the girl who is always smiling and having a great time. It’s easy to come to the conclusion that Eve has not one care in the world. Without having a “strict” dad, everyone seemed to envy that Eve was never at home. She was always out doing something; at the library reading books, at the park listening to music, though she wasn’t much of a partier. She can count on one hand how many parties she’s been to her entire life.
But, if you look into those baby blue eyes of hers, you’d be able to see traces of pain. Maybe even a glance at the scared little girl that is trembling beneath that pearly smile plastered on her face every single day. Because of this smile and that laugh, no one ever seemed to grow suspicious of the endless amount of sweaters she would wear, the long sleeves she constantly pull down just a bit further every now and then to hide the scars that travel up her wrists, as well as the ones on her thighs, waist, and hips.
Genevieve will always put others before herself. In fact, you’d be lucky to even see her crying out for help. She’s a master at bottling it up and acting as though she’s perfectly fine, and she plans on keeping it that way.
There is not a day that passes by that she doesn’t blame herself for everything in her past. For the fact that her father hasn’t even looked her in the eyes for years. Genevieve is convinced that running away is the only way to make it up to her father for all the pain she has put him through.
History:
Known for her bright smile and melodic laugh, Eve is the poster-child for great life. Great friends, great home life, a dad who let her get away with anything… what more could a person ask for? Right? Well maybe if you walked in her shoes for a few minutes, your mind will be quickly changed.
Eve’s story goes all the way back to just a few days before her five, going on six, year old sister Amber’s birthday. They lived in a slightly bigger town than the one they’re in now, having a house next to a few acres of woods. The two sisters would always play adventurers and princesses in the trees, collecting flowers for mommy and fighting dragons for daddy. There was a river in the heart of the woods, where all the ‘unicorns and fairies’ had balls and weddings.
Back to the story, just a mere four days before Amber’s birthday, the two went to the woods to gather flowers and decorations for the party. Once they arrived with their little woven baskets and clad in tutus and rainboots, Eve and her sister began looking for flowers. Until something caught Amber’s eye.
A ‘fairy’ zipped past them and Amber was determined to capture it to put on top of her cake instead of candles this year. She turned and darted off to where the fairy flew off to, not bothering to tell Eve where she was going other than “Just to go catch that fayree, Evie! Wait for me! Be back real quick!” Just like that, Amber was gone while Eve continued picking flowers and depositing them into her basket. She didn’t think much of it, I mean, how awesome would be to have a fairy on top of your birthday cake! It wasn’t but just a few minutes later, when the sound that would break Eve’s entire world cracked through the air like a whip. Her back straightened immediately at the sound of waves crashing on top of each other, and a scream cut short. Her small hands dropped the basket and her feet carried the seven year old towards the river, cutting past the trees and jumping over falling branches. But it was too late. By the time she got there, the river stole her sister’s life and Eve’s heart. Screaming loudly nonstop, screaming for Amber to quit joking around and get out of the water, finally her mom heard and rushed to her daughters, falling to her knees and sobbing loudly as her eyes landed on the lifeless five year old in the river.

They ended up burying Amber on the day of her birthday. Instead of the princess and fairy themed party, the house was filled with mourners dressed in black. Cries filled the hollow shell of the house instead of laughter. Her parents lost their daughter, and Eve lost her sister, her best and only friend. After a few weeks of listening to her mother cry herself to sleep and her father trying to keep himself occupied from having to think about reality, Eve was left alone in her room without anyone there to comfort her. Eventually, though, her mother began to blame the seven year old for not keeping a better watch of her sister. For being the reason Amber was dead. And although she never got physical, her mom never seemed to go a day without yelling verbal abuse at Genevieve.
When she turned twelve, her self esteem had already hit rock bottom and Genevieve began to try to do any and everything in her best ability to become the perfect daughter to her parents. To make up for the one they had lost. When her mother called her fat, Genevieve began to throw up her meals; something she had learned from watching some movie. When that didn’t work, she began to eat less and less, not that her parents even noticed. In fact, if anything the situation got worse. She was literally despised by her mother so much that one day when she came home from school, she went into the bathroom next to her parents’ room, only to find her mother soaked in a pool of dark red blood staining the floor and her clothing. A bullet hole on the right side of her head and her brains plastered on the wall, next to the woman’s limp body was a crumpled up note with the words “Now you’ve killed me too, hope you're happy now you little bitch."scrawled on it.
After that, Genevieve began to take a razor blade to her skin, to not only punish herself for being the monster she grew up believing she was, but to also find relief from all the pain in her life. It was the only way she knew how to cope with everything and let her feelings out.
Her father and her moved to this town just a few months after the incident, even then he was like a distant stranger to her, only speaking when necessary and keeping just enough food available to survive. He was always a work, leaving the now fourteen year old girl to raise herself.
