Introduction
He was telling a fantastical story about a world where large metal birds soared in the air, and people wore strange clothes. Victoria couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, I do so love your stories" she said, smiling at Mr. Cluseo.
"My dear, they are anything but stories." There was a mischievous twinkle in Mr. Cluseo's eye. Of course everyone knew he was joking. For he was joking, after all. Wasn't he?
But it was not too much longer before the Edinboroh family had to excuse Mr. Cluseo. Victoria's mother was seeing to it that Victoria got enough rest, for there was to be a meeting between a young man in the town and herself the next day. Her mother had arranged it, in hopes that this fine young gentleman might take her daughters hand in marriage.
The next day, when it was time for Mr. Cluseo to stop in for tea, he did not show. The day went on as planned, though, and she met with that young man; a Lord Godrik Wareham. She found him to be nice enough, but not someone she could have ever seen herself marrying. Plus, to add to it all, she didn't feel that he could push her status in life any higher. Though, her mother found him absolutely charming, so she arranged for them to meet again the following day as well.
The next day, when it was once again time for Mr. Cluseo to stop in for tea, he did not. Victoria was beginning to get worried, and asked her mother if she could postpone the meeting between herself and Lord Wareham until an hour or so later. Her mother reluctantly agreed, and Victoria changed from her 'receiving visitors dress' to her 'visiting dress' in order to be properly dressed for dropping by to see Mr. Cluseo.
In a haste, she took the open carriage through town without waiting for the reign man and the footman, all the way to the other side where Mr. Cluseo's house was located. His was a lone old home that sat atop a hill. It was surrounded by a wood, and seemed altogether creepy. But Victoria took the carriage up to it all the same, stopping at the front.
To her, something seemed off about the house. Though she made her way to the front door all the same. Upon knocking on the door, it swung open. She expect to see Mr. Cluseo's butler just inside with a tray for her calling card, but there was no one on the other side of the door. Stepping inside, she made her way into the house, going completely against any etiquette lessons she had been taught.
She bumped into something laying on the floor, and looked down to find a book just laying in the foyer of the home. Picking it off the floor, she placed it on the calling card table next to the front door, before moving more into the home. Shutting the door behind her, she called out. "Hello, Mr. Cluseo. Are you home? The butler wasn't here to take my card..." But no one answered her.
After moving through the first floor rooms, she came back to the foyer, puzzled upon what to do. It wasn't right of her being there in the first place without being invited, and now that she thought about it, she should have waited for her reign man and her footman.
Lingering a bit longer in the foyer, she turned her eyes upon the book that had just been laying on the floor. Carefully picking it up, she ran her fingers over the front cover. The entire book was a royal blue color, with gold swirls running all around it. There was gold foiling on the edges of all of the pages, which gave the book this sort of shine to it - it had a life that the rest of the house seemed to be lacking. The book almost seemed alive, in a sense.
Opening its pages up, a letter fell out of the book to the floor. Victoria stooped down a bit to pick up the piece of paper, before looking at what it said.
"Dear Reader. It has come to my attention that I am no longer content with this day and age. There is far too much that I just cannot live without seeing again, so I am staying somewhere with far much more knowledge. Best of luck upon shutting the door. With Regards, Mr. Patrick Cluseo."
Victoria looked back at the closed door of the home, before slowly moving to open it up. Outside, she did not find her carriage. She did not even find the same lawn, or trees. She did not find the Victorian America that she had been expecting. No - she found a world unlike any she even knew existed. She found the world of 1975.
Shutting the door in a rush, Victoria let out a gasp, and flipped open the letter again, reading it once more to herself. Looking down at the book next, she flipped open to the first couple of pages, really taking all of the information in.
Closing a book about ten minutes later, she placed it lightly on the calling card table, along with the letter from Mr. Cluseo.
"So, this is now my house. A time traveling house!" Her voice held nothing more than surprise, disbelief, and a hint of fear. "Oh, lord. What have I gotten myself into?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Rules of THE BOOK:
o While the house remains unoccupied, the first to close the door becomes the owner.
o Any occupants entering the home thereafter become bound to the house once they close the door.
o The only way to leave the home for good is by being dismissed by the homes current owner, as well as willingly letting yourself leave.
o The home can sustain as many occupants as needed.
o The current owner of the home cannot dismiss themselves from the home until all other occupants have been dismissed and have willingly left.
o If the door is closed while another being from the home is outside (without having been dismissed from the home), that person will be trapped in a sort of purgatory in which they cannot escape for the rest of their lives.***
o Almost anything that any member of the home could want will be available for them in their room. (The rooms change depending on the owner of a particular room. Each room has a house occupants name on it - there are never any extra rooms, but there are never too few rooms either. If you're really confused by this concept, think of the Room of Requirement from Harry Potter. That should help you...)
o The home will provide clothes depending on the time period and location it is currently residing in, so that the members of the home all fit in with the time period as seamlessly as possible.
o Dinners are constructed depending on the time period the home resides in.
o The home can move between time periods rapidly, though it cannot change locations more than one time every day.
o The home can change outward appearances depending on its location, so as to fit in with its surroundings appropriately.
o Anyone residing in the home can understand anyone else residing in the home, regardless of what would originally constitute as a language barrier. While mannerisms may be a bit awkward, and slang may not be totally understood, the house itself seems to create a universal language - or at least a universal understanding - for all the members. In regards to this, anyone of whom they meet outside the home is able to understand them, and they are able to communicate back as well.
o The book holds information for every time, place, and date possible - though, one cannot read it until entering into that time.
o The book will randomly select a location, date, and time for moving. The members of the home have no control over where it goes - they can only control how long it will be there.
o The book controls all. Without it, one cannot hope to navigate successfully.
***This rule will only be enforced if you decide to just up and leave the RP without successfully removing your character prior to your departure. Gorie and Momoko reserve the right to kick any player from the RP - this is the method we will use to do so. ;)
(Please Note: Don't just shut the door on people you don't like. This rule is reserved only for the use of the GM's. Kthanxbaii)
SOMETIME THAT I DONT REALLY KNOW AS OF YET...
(Why? Because I'm in Japan right now with Momoko. XD Its hard to RP when you're too busy seeing the Tokyo area. haha)
If you scratch out that sentence above, I AM BACK FROM JAPAN. So yeah. We'll figure this out. Just... PM me or comment in the OOC Forum. xD
Re: [OOC] The House That Time Forgot
And yeah, it does exist in every time possible. Its usually hidden away, or one of those "haunted houses" that nobody ever goes near. And the outside CAN change if it so has to, but its default image is that of a second era Victorian home. its actually the house in the picture of the roleplay, which is actually my friend Mary's house. xD If you'd like a larger picture, I can provide one as well.
But yeah. It exists in all times at one time. But the time that you come out of rotates. :) I hope that makes sense.
Re: [OOC] The House That Time Forgot
We don't have to have MANY to start out. Maybe one or two or three. Because they'll all come in eventually. Just, basically ones to start out in the house. :3
