Full Name: Oren Dariya Kovalenko
Nicknames/Aliases: Oreo, The European
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Occupation: Student, studying for a Masters Degree in Biochemistry, worked part-time in a pharmacy in order to pay for her education.
Description: Oren resembles a wiry, rather angular-looking young woman in her early twenties, a with high, noticable cheekbones and deep-set eyes. Her hair is very thick, a little untidy, and reached down to her shoulder blades. She tends to tie it back. Oren is rarely seen without her long blue trenchcoat/duster and a pair of fingerless gloves. She gravitates towards practical clothing and tends to keep everything in fairly good condition as much as she can.
Personality: Oren is, in one word, harsh. She tends to come across as unsympathetic towards others, and often quite rude to them along with it. This is due to the fact that she holds herself to
a very high standard, and expects others to meet similar standards to earn any respect from her. These standards encompass a sort of ruthless self-discipline. She is strict
on herself in matters of study, diet, exercise, and seeking help on any matter, and likes to be in control of those things.
She cannot stand the idea of losing independence in any form, as a result the prospect of disability and long term illness bothers her a lot more than the prospect of death does.
It's partly due to her preoccupation with controlling her own life, and partly due to the fact that she doesn't really trust people in general, seeming to assume ineptitude or
ulterior motives in things quite often.
While she rarely seems to get along with people, Oren is honest and trustworthy in her work to a fault, and will fulfil an agreement regardless of any disdain or dislike for a
person. She also has the virtue of being virtually unflappable, never seeming to panic, even in some of the most dire situations, and with a decent ability to formulate plans on
the fly. She does indeed seem to shine when things are at their worse, and is at her worst when things are fine.
Skills:- Marksmanship: Oren knows how to fire and maintain a handgun, something she was instructed on at a fairly young age. She is not experienced with any larger firearms.
-Krav Maga: She was educated by her father in the self-defense style used by Israeli special forces. She is quite adept at dealing with human opponents, though this style does not always transfer well to Walkers, who often don't appear to react to pain in the same way.
- Knowledge of the Human Body: Oren has a basic knowledge of first aid, from both her studies of human biology for her bachelor's degree, her father's instruction, and her work in the pharmacy.
Weaknesses:- Pride: Oren is very bad about admitting when she can't handle things, and will often take on tasks that she cannot complete out of her reluctance to admit weakness.
- Interpersonal Skills: She is not good with people Oren tends to be rude, hostile, and generally not especially good at getting along with others.
- Shoulder Injury: Oren dislocated her shoulder at a younger age, and it was not properly treated. As a result, her left shoulder is a little restricted in its movements, and easily becomes dislocated.
Equipment: - One handgun.
- Various medical supplies taken form the pharmacy that she worked at.
- An assortment of energy bars taken from her work.
Brief History: Oren came to the country at the age of fourteen, having spent her life growing up in several locations around Eastern Europe. Her father was a former special forces operative, Hungarian by birth. Oren's mother was supposedly from Ukraine, but she never met her. The majority of her parenting...and schooling was done by her father, who held her to an extremely high standard.
She moved to the US due to her father finding employment there, though found herself struggling to adapt to the lifestyle, especially when she was expected to attend a mainstream school. She made few friends, but achieved very well academically, getting a place at a good university and a first class bachelor's degree, despite having to pay her own way when her and her father parted ways in less than amicable circumstances.
She was studying for her Masters when the plague hit. She'd been at work when she'd first come across the Walkers, allowing her to take hold of a decent amount of supplies before she set out.
