"If I recall correctly," she began, tapping a finger on her bottom lip. "Silver, aconite, annnnd... cardial extraction. My, my. Pure silver will be a bit more on the expensive side, won't it? Mmmm, I'll loan my share for that one," she said, ending with a giggle. "Besides, it doesn't take a lot to invest in plush toys."
"Well, for what it's worth, I have access to the Macrae account, and we can afford most anything we want within reason. Perks of my folks having been in the business for so long, and I wouldn't mind building up a bit of a tab for dear old Colin." She smirked at Bella, who would likely love the idea of taking another possible stab at the association's least favorite asshole.
"I've only got money here, so it's the least I can do to help when I can!"
"If you don't mind, I would like if I get that one right there along with some silver lined ammo." He spoke in that meek tone again, trying his damndest to be polite but he was just simply too quiet.
She was confident this would be all she'd need. If it broke down into a struggle, she would be the least at risk. She felt a bit of something about this mission already, though, besides concerns about the two rookies who seem yet to really put theory to practice. She already felt sorry for the afflicted. It didn't change what had to be done, but it still left a bad taste.
"Though, to be honest, even a silver nail file would be sufficient," she said with a laugh, though it sounded unnatural, forced. She shifted her attention back to Everley. "But, what will you arm yourself with, dear?"
Everley considered Bella's question, tilting her head slightly in thought. What do I even want? She let her gaze flitter around the displays, entirely unsure in her decision. To be fair, she wished that there was no need for weapons. Everley was naive in her need for all excursions to be peaceful, but deep down she knew she would need something to protect herself.
"Honestly... I haven't the faintest clue...." She looked at Bella and Darren, hoping they may have an idea. Darren had a rather strong handgun of an impressive caliber, and Bella's delicate knife seemed to fit her personality perfectly. Everley looked again at the table, eyes scanning once again. Finally her eyes landed on a single piece, sitting at the far end, rested delicately on a purple satin cloth.
Everley strolled over, her eyes fixed on the 9mm semi-automatic handgun. "Excuse me?" She called out to the attendant. "Can I get this one, with whatever proper silver lined ammo you have?" The man nodded, and went to grab the gun.
"Wait- can I get the cloth too?" She looked over at Bella, smiling like a child. "It's rather pretty." The man shrugged, and wrapped up her supplies in the purple satin, handing it over to her. She gave the man her family's information, ensuring that she was covering everyone's tab.
"We about ready?" She asked the group, gingerly holding her new supplies.
"says here that the lycan was spotted a couple miles from this mans farm, we should go there." He pointed toward the direction they needed to go, not even noticing a juvenile wyvern had flown across the sky from them.
"Different continent same speech. You'd think they'd liven it up a bit each year."
She'd heard that notoriously the American's were a trigger happy, rude and raucous bunch. However as she looked around it all seemed very orderly. Must be Director Ramos' influence, she thought to herself. Pushing herself off of the wall she decided to move on to the armory before the speech even ended. Natisha had brought in her personal weapon to have the blade sharpened before she took on a new mission. Always be prepared her father had taught her, she didn't even notice the flock of faeries that escaped by that time she was already in the armory.
The armorer smiled "Ah back again I see. Almost done with your weapon. If you want to look around for a bit I'll have it right out for you."
Natisha nodded "I want to thank you again. I didn't have the chance to get it sharpened before I left home," she said while looking around at the various guns, swords and daggers for sale. "Not that they gave me much of a choice either." she said under her breath as she leaned in closer to get a closer look at a semi-automatic.
The older man gave a deep throaty chuckle, "By the way your baby in the aviary seems to fitting in nicely. She's so little I don't think anyone has noticed her yet. But, once she gets a little bigger you may have to find a different place to hide her."
Looking up from the gun she smiled. "I plan training her as soon as she's big enough. My father told me about early hunters using gryphons as mounts. I think Sprinkles will make for a great companion."
The armorer nodded "Yes, but that was a long time ago. Still, If you're going to be doing a lot of hunting on your own having a gryphon on your side can come in handy. However, you might want to have a word with Director Ramos about the little girl. The director may seem like a bit of a hard case. But, I'm sure if you explain to her the situation she'd understand. She did accept you after hearing your story after all."
Natisha sighed. It was true, after the incident for "insubordination" back home the Australian Division Director had passed Natisha's record over to several different divisions all over the world. They had all passed and she began to think that she might have to give up on her dream of becoming a full fledged hunter. Needless to say Natisha was surprised when word came back that the USA Division had decided to take her on.
"I think I'll wait till Sprinkles is a little bigger and has grown more accustomed to being around me and other humans. That way it's apparent that she can be easily tamed."
The armorer came out from behind the counter and held out Natisha's weapon to her. "There ya go good as new."
"Thanks again." Natisha said.
"A good silver blade, you know I heard about a mission earlier today a silver blade like that would come in handy for. You might have a go at it," He gave her a crooked smile.
Natisha smiled "Thanks for the heads up. I might check it out." As if by fate it was then a handful of hunters walked into the armory.
They were discussing the mission that he had just mentioned a mission that involved a lycanthrope. Her silver Kusarigama would definitely have an advantage. There was a young man, a young woman and well if Natisha educated guess was right a witch. She'd heard rumors about the US divisions witch hunter but she didn't believe it till now. She could try to take on the mission alone however a lycan can be hard to tackle alone because they can be very unpredictable. Natisha thought for a moment watching the group as the conversed and prepared. This was different than what she had experienced before coming here. She didn't have a superior officer that would pull rank. She assumed that the two humans were beginners, the one that worried Natisha the most was the skinwalker witch.
"What more can I lose might as well take a leap and go for it." She said to herself as the group began to head out.
Natisha cleared her throat as she stepped up behind them. "Pardon me, but I overheard that you had taken the mission for the lycanthrope in the nearby village. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind an extra pair of hands on your mission?" she said while trying to dial back her accent.
"Well, hm-hm-hm," she said, lifting her head up and pecking a finger against her bottom lip as if she was giving it a lot of thought. She then waved a finger and grinned. "Well, if the others don't mind, I won't either, dear. Bellatroix, by the way, or Bella for short, though I suppose you may already know that. You are..?"
Everley watched the wyvern soar across the sky, and found herself longing to fly one day. Lost in thought, she nearly missed the direction that Darren was pointing to, indicating the location of the lycan. She nodded, but as they prepared to start their journey, an interesting woman approached them, offering to join in. Everley listened intently as Bellatroix spoke, wanting to follow the wise woman's lead.
"I've no issues with it, as long as you have no objections to working with two beginners. I've Everley, by the way. Unlike Bellatroix, there's little chance you've heard of me!" Everley offered a warm smile with a loud giggle, and waited for the woman to offer her name.
The woman was clearly strong, and certainly sure of herself. Not in an arrogant manner, just that Everley noted the woman held herself as if she was ready for anything. Everley highly doubted that it would take long for the newcomer to prove her worth in battle. She could only hope that she would be able to learn from her, and perhaps gain some confidence.
Bella took a look at their group and let out a small snort. A grin came about her face as if a rather devious thought had come to her mind. "Well, then," she whispered in Darren's direction, a teasing tone to her voice. "Seems you're well outnumbered now, cher."
"Careful," she cautioned, placing herself in front. She was fully intent to put herself in a dangerous situation over the others, given her inhuman resilience, or perhaps in some part even, maternal instinct. She started to speed up, making her way towards the source of the scent.
She took a moment to look over at Darren, looking even more pale than usual, nauseated beside a tree. She sighed, it was understandable, he was new to this, possibly barely even ever been in the wilderness. His constitution would be miles below a creature like her, who has lived in the literal muck. She figured the best move would be to push this along, to get him away from the putrid odor, and check the scene for tracks.
She knelt down and looked over the viscera and disturbed earth. Based on the pungency, it was clear to her that the kill was far from fresh, but it still took only a few moments to pick out scents. The next step was to filter out the obvious: scavengers and other animals who may have benefited themselves from the lycan's kills. After a few more moments she stood up, certain of the scent profile. Assuming it wasn't another scavenger, she followed it for a bit, only to stop and look back at Darren. She frowned, a change from her typical upbeat energy. She faced an impasse, while she could, she wouldn't just push forward with him in a state like this. Nurture would win over nature in this instance.
"Are you alrght? Perhaps... it would be bes we move away, get some fresh air," she said softly.
"Let's just try and find this Lycan and get this over with." He managed to say this much while wiping off his mouth with his forearm.
"I don't blame you, though, the smell was intense, even to me. Feel lucky you have less acute senses," she admitted with a slight chuckle. "I suppose I've become rather... domesticated."
Regardless, she had to act, its stance aggressive, and with her was a human, susceptible to infection. With little regard to self preservation, she moved herself between the lycan and Darren, her eyes locking with the cursed being, her tail, once receding, now extending out down her back. The tail was long, consisting of black and white striped flesh with hard black bumps running down the top of it, these bumps, clicking open like switchblades as they became like sharp black barbs. The tip of this tail vibrated aggressively as she stood ready, armed with the knife.
"How I wish there were a way better than this, to kill a person over circumstances not fault of their own... places a poor taste in my mouth," she said, holding her knife ready to retaliate at any moment.
The Lycan simply watched its attack fail but sees Darren injured from it, its feral instincts kicking in it attempted to leap OVER Bella to get at Darren, its claws and monstrous fangs poised to tear him apart.
