Dr. Steinman | Garry Schyman

"Breathes there the man with soul so dead..."
|| Race ||
Very much still resembles a human besides a few small things, however has adopted many qualities of different creatures personality wise, the most apparent being that of a bird (specifically crows, due to his scavenging and hoarding habits).
|| Role ||
The Deadly Sin of Greed
|| Gender ||
|| Nickname(s)/Alias(es) ||
Much too many, and most of them come from other people. These names include, 'Hoarder', 'Scavenger', 'Crow', and others relating. He does accept use of all of these.
|| Age ||
Appears to be around the age of 18 or 19.
|| Love Interest ||
Devote time and emotions to other people? Ha! What a joke.
|| Face Claim ||
|| Sexuality ||

"Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne’er within him burned,
As home his footsteps he hath turned
From wandering on a foreign strand!"

|| Height ||
His real height is around 5'10, however due to the fact that he hunches slightly while standing, sitting, etc., he appears to be an inch or two shorter.

|| Weight ||
Due to lack of significant muscle development, and light bone mass, he carries a lanky weight of around 135-145lbs.

|| Build ||
Quite skinny and thin, carrying not very much strength with him at all. Appears nearly malnourished also due to hue of skin tone.

|| Hair Color ||
Shade of black that appears almost to have a glint of blue in certain lighting.

|| Eye Color ||
Changes quite often, and radically as well. However, most of the time they reflect a pale and watery yellow, much similar to that of an owl or snake. Paired with his rather jittery movements and quick motions, he very much resembles a sort of bird, but whenever anyone points this out he denies it instantly.

|| Scars/Tattoos/Piercings ||
Does not believe in setting more permanent things on his body, such as tattoos or piercings, due to his indecisiveness. However, has quite a few tiny scars littered around his wrists, neck, and face, mostly accidental injuries due to his sharp nails.

||Description ||
Not seen very much outdoors, most people around the world have no idea what he looks like. The only idea that people have of him seem like some sort of old wive's tale, popular especially amongst young children. He's a man who has aged much in mind, but not body, and shuts himself in, building a wall around him both mentally and physically to separate himself from other people. He lives amongst his wealth, going out every now and then to scavenge and collect more things for his vast collection of both trash and treasure. No one's ever entered his home before. Sadly, he very much lives up to this image, his appearance almost confirming what people believe. His hair is a deep black, in some lighting even reflects a shade of blue, much similar to that of a magpie's feathers. His hair is in short layers and messy, flayed out in different directions. Avis' most commonly seen yellow eyes are not so much piercing, but watery, which can seem even more unsettling. They're never in one place for long, constantly moving around any room he's in, especially if he's unfamiliar with his situation. His facial structure is quite sharp, and thanks to his thin build, his features are even more so illuminated. He has a thin chin and high cheekbones with cheeks that look sunken in. In low lighting, he appears almost skeletal. His pale skin, especially around his hands, it very dry because of his frequent hand washing, and his wounds show up even easier. Mostly for self-defense and often useful if interrogating people, his nails have been sharped to a very fine point, curved downwards now to almost resemble hooked claws. His overall appearance is not handsome, or ugly. More....unsettling. Some might find some odd gracefulness in his quick movements and bony structure, though that varies from person to person. When moving, he's usually hunched slightly, shoulders drawn in, though sits with an almost regal position when amongst his own home. His movements are quick and jittery, head moving often, hands constantly playing with something or scratching, tongue dashing across his dry lips every few minutes. Decorated all over his body is various pieces of jewelry, most often valuable metals such as silver, gold and steel in the form of bracelets, rings, necklaces, and whatever else he can wear. He loves to decorate himself with many things, always switching them around everyday. However, in his hair, he almost always has feathers woven in, the most common being the warm brown from certain owls, or the purple sheen from ravens.

"If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim."

|| Oddities ||
A better question would be what isn't odd about him. However, there are a few things that stick out more than others. Constantly in motion, Avis is never seen not doing something. He can't stand still, and if is forced to stay in one spot, must be swaying side to side or pacing back and forth. While sitting, he's tapping his nails on a surface, moving his legs, playing with his jewelry, doing anything to keep moving. This is mostly due to paranoia and anxiety, and while some may not notice it at first, it becomes apparent quite quickly. As well, he has a near obsession with keeping things clean, himself and his collections included. Constantly cleaning his hands, the skin has become dry and flakes off. He dusts his items every day, washes himself multiple times throughout the day, picks at every speck of dirt on his clothing, and becomes nearly insane at the sight of a stain on any clothing or item otherwise. His appearance could probably be included in this list as well, with his claw-like nails, yellow eyes and bony structure. He also has a slight stuttering problem, that comes out when he's nervous or panicked. Paired with how quickly he tends to talk, the both effects can sometimes make him completely unable to be understood.

|| Skills ||

Pattern Recognition

Extremely observant and focused when needed to be, Avis has a knack for picking up certain patterns in people, animals, and even events. Analyzing it sort of like statistics within his mind, he can usually put forward an educated guess as long as he has previous knowledge. This usually comes in handy in terms of something such as battle/fighting, since he can assume the opponents moves before they happen. This logical mind also helps in things dealing with numbers, so he can even further look at the probability of certain events.

[color-#15B347] Mathematics [/color]

Good with numbers and able to form equations, statistics, and discern the probability of a certain event all very quickly in his mind, he is naturally very good with numbers and can solve most things mentally, and resolve even more complicated problems on just a piece of paper.

|| Powers ||
Heightened Senses
Encompassing all five senses, even taste and touch, Avis is much more sensitive to things than other people. This isn't really a power he can turn on and off, but something that's just kind of there . This is both a good thing, and a bad thing. His eyes are much more finely tuned to seeing in the dark, and though it isn't crystal clear, he can get a better idea of where things are and see the outline of objects better than most people. In situations where he's suddenly thrown into darkness, or blinded by anything, he uses echolocation to find his way around. This process includes clicking his tongue, to which then his hearing can pick up the fine differences between the clicking depending on how close he is to an object. Of course, after using thing for such a long time while being out at night or in dark rooms, he picks up almost any sound now, and has never really experienced true silence because of it. He can't eat many types of foods either, as complicated flavours or anything too strong makes him feel sick. This is the same with certain fabrics. He can't stand satin, silk, or corduroy due to the fine micro-fibers, and this brings a sick feeling to his stomach. The stronger sense of smell allows him to pick up scents as well, and can easily identify people by there smell after coming across them a few times. This ability to pick up scent is partly the reason he keeps himself so clean, since he does not want his scent to disturb when he could be picking up other things.

Minor Possession
Not really possession of the mind, or even spirit, it's more like he's snatching up someone's body to use for his own personal gain. He can use it on people with a low will or mental strength, but these guidelines follow to animals as well. His most common targets are creatures like rats and birds, which he uses to enter small spaces, or get into places without being noticed. This is often used during his thieving/raiding of homes, since when possessing a human, any items he picks up in their body is transferred to him afterwards. The odd thing about his possession though is that he merges corporeally with the target, meaning that his own body enters theirs. In other words, during possession, his regular body is not present. It is quite literally, inside the target. He can only use the power for as long as until the creature recognizes what is happening, then it is over. Therefore, he can possess rats for much longer than say, a regular human. Upon end of possession, the target is usually killed. Humans are an exception for this, they merely become incapacitated and disoriented. However, if his host is killed, he is killed as well, which makes this quite risky.

Psionic Links
Relating closely to his ability to possess body, he can partially possess mind of certain individuals. Mostly because of his great power over his own mind, which is constantly analyzing statistics, situations, and numbers, he is able to overload other people's minds with many of his own thoughts, causing dizziness, confusion, often searing headaches, memory loss, and sometimes even unconsciousness. It's quite easy for him, especially if the target lacks general smarts. However, this power requires a psionic link, which can only be achieved if he is in physical contact with the person. The power also drains him quite substantially, and requires a great amount of focus and mental stamina. Against what some might think, he is still unable to 'read' minds, or even really know what's going on in them besides having a general feeling or emotion relayed back to him.

|| Personality ||

Paranoid | Stubborn | Obsessive | Ambitious | Rash | Argumentative | Self-Centered | Impatient | Blunt | Materialistic

It's not that Avis is a bad person, it's more that he just has way too many negative traits that tend to show themselves more than his positive side. With a rather simple mind, it's easy to either become his best friend, or his worst enemy. The principle is quite simple, in fact. Give him things or admire his collections, and he likes you. Don't speak to him or even make eye contact with him, and he will do the same. Try to take his things or make fun of him, and he will try to ruin your life. This can be a good thing sometimes, since he could become friends with perhaps the cruelest person in the world, a cold blooded murderer, as long as the person showed interest in his items. He does not judge people beforehand, since he realizes that he can be quite off-putting at first as well.

One of his most obvious traits by far is his general anxiety and overall paranoia at almost all times of the day. Constantly worried that his things are going to be stolen or destroyed, he watches over them vigilantly with a sort of obsession. He believes that people want his things, and so always is found counting out items in his collection, making sure everything is placed exactly where it's supposed to be. This anxiety has carried out into his personality even when he's not at home either. Without anything to even look at, he still flicks his vision around constantly, and is always expecting someone to lash out at him even if he's amongst his friends. Because of this fear, he has convinced himself that he must always be moving, and is never seen sitting still. His focus on placement, numbers, and cleanliness has shown itself as well, seen by his constant hand-washing, focus on schedules, and the sheer amount of things he must own. Each possession he gains makes him feel better about himself, since he knows that he is so much more well of than anyone else, and believes that they must be jealous of his belongings. The items basically represent his self-worth, and everyone knows that he focuses on himself the most, putting himself above other people.

Because of this paranoia, he doesn't have much time for things if they're not important. Time that is wasted on talking to 'friends' or going on a walk could much more be spent on collecting more items or keeping watch over his things. Due to this, he's impatient, and often rash, leaping before looking on both the basis of conversation, and actions. This definitely has consequences, but he feels that saving time by these bad decisions much outweighs that actual response to what he's decided. Ambition comes along naturally with his knack for not really caring about what he does that affects other people. After all, if one does not care about the consequence of his actions, then who is to say that he is really bound by anything? In a way, he can do anything he'd like. Due to Avis' simple ways, he says what he needs to say about people, coming across as painfully honest and quite blunt. Not willing to change his ways, he's stubborn to any suggestions that people may have, and is quite argumentative if anyone chooses to debate with him about something he happens to care about.

Avis, though mostly unwilling to feel for other people, could possibly. He values objects. He cares for them more than anything else. Therefore, if he was able to somehow objectify another person, he could probably end up treating them just as well as his items. This is quite unlikely though, and he's quite happy not putting much thought into anything or anyone but himself, and his precious collections.

Fear of being bound, or tied up. This one can be simplified into his more basic fear of not moving, or having a lack of movement. Constantly on edge, if Avis is not moving, he does not feel safe or prepared if something comes his way. If someone were to restrain him, or if he somehow became unable to move, he would probably drive himself insane. This also relates in a mental way as well. If somehow he was unable to use any of his powers, or was fixed to one constant thought/worry/concern, the result would be the same.

Fear of dirt, germs, and contamination. Mostly, this concern relates to his items. He doesn't want them to be ruined in any way, and keeps constant vigil over them, however the fear has carried out onto himself as well. Unable to stand the thought of dirt or germs on him, he must constantly wash himself and his clothing, and stay away from anything that might contaminate him. It's more unsettling to him, though can turn into an actual fear if exposed to too much of it. It's like he can feel the bacteria crawling all over his body...

The wretch, concentrated all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown."

|| Personal History ||
Avis' upbringing was nothing really traumatic for him, contrary to what some might think. Even telling the story, assumptions might be made that he holds some sort of sadness in him or regret, however that is not present. Rather, he holds a bit of anger and sureness in knowing he made the right decisions.

Born to an upper middle-class family, Avis was well off from the start. A mother, father, and an older brother, all of them healthy. No one was doomed with life-threatening illness or disease, no one died in a freak accident, it was all just...perfectly normal, and it carried on that way for years. Of course, his name wasn't Avis back then. His parents would have cringed at the idea of naming their child the Latin word for 'bird'. He can't remember his old name now, most likely due to the effects of time, and blocking it out voluntarily, and he has quite a few reasons for wanting to forget these memories. At a young age, he had begun to look up to his older brother in the way that all younger siblings do. His older brother had always been the pride of the family. Smart, educated, patient and successful, he got all of the praise and affection. Avis had attempted to follow in his footsteps, but not so naturally charismatic like him and able in things only dealing with numbers, he could not manage to get his parents praise. No matter how hard he tried, he was constantly off to the side, watching his older brother get handed money, a pat on the head, a new piece of clothing, items passed down from generation to generation given to him because he was wise and trustworthy. Even worse, Avis was expected to be just like him, the spitting image of his sibling, because if he was anything less, then obviously he was not worthy of anything.

Gifted with identifying and picking up patterns, he quickly began to notice that anything done even remotely well was rewarded. However, not very often with words, but rather items. As such, he began to associate good things and being successful, with items and the sheer amount of things you had. The only way your worth could measured was with items, jewelry and antiques. His brother had much of it all, and had done so many amazing things, so he must be worth a lot. In return, he had very little, so he much not be very successful or even worthwhile. Avis, while still trying to fit into an ideal mold, had also gotten into some bad habits. In order to find nice items that would raise his own worth, he had resorted to stealing, becoming quite a skilled pickpocket in public areas, and taking things from stores while the shopkeeper was not looking. His nimble fingers could take many small items, like rings, without anyone noticing. Even every now and then he'd go into his brother's room and take some of his things. This went on for maybe a month or so, and he had collected quite a few things. Of course, he was just a young child, and slipped up within a few weeks. Someone caught him with his hand in their bag, and he was spared only because he was a child. However, his parents were extremely disappointed, took all of his things, and even worse, his older brother couldn't believe it either.

Having his items taken from him was like rubbing salt into a fresh wound. Avis healed eventually, though never quite fully. Many more instances continued to rip the scab off of the wound, and after his brother finally grew up and left the family, it went even worse. He never had many friends in school, though a few close ones, that seemed to be more of a family than his real one. Finding the world of Infinity was a fluke, and at first, he didn't even find much enjoyment or wonder in it as the others had. After spending time there though, he realized that it hadn't even been fully developed yet. There was so much room to do what he wanted, and without his family watching over his shoulders constantly, he could get everything he ever wanted. He could steal, hoard, rule, order, and more. It was his idea to stay there, and soon followed the footsteps of the rest of his family members by selling his soul in exchange for wealth, riches, and a bit of power. Ruling over the Eternal Summer area, he is part legend, part God for the people residing. His hoarding habits and general reference to his home as a 'nest' has people associating him with birds quite often, his hawk eyes watching everything that goes on in his area. His biggest fear is still people taking away his things, since it's like taking away a part of him, and he is very against to anyone who might aim to change him.

Location: Underground the Graveyard of Fear
Time of Day: Morning (5:25 A.M.)
Three hours prior to the Gateway opening

"Almost show time~!" Whisper purred out, opening a rather small coffin that laid on a rotten wood table, a satin white sheet covering it just to keep the coffin 'safe'. He had periodically dug this coffin up throughout the years, almost as if he could never part with it. Whisper's smirk was ear to ear at this point as he stroked a large orb, it's insides nothing put pure black. A void of pure nothingness. His mission, his plan, was finally coming together perfectly. After thousands, millions of years, finally he had found the perfect subjects to bring to "Infinity". Ones that, no matter what they did, would eventually aid him in hi venture to gather all one-hundred and fifty pages. No matter if three were the only ones needed, his master desired all of them.

Whisper, since the moment the original four friends had even stepped foot in the realm, had always been watching. Always observing them for the slightest of flaws, cracks, as one would say. He needed ways to hit home, to make them stay. He found those ways, and within only about maybe a million or so years, maybe even less, all seven sins had finally gathered. Now the real show would begin.

As for the virtues, well, he had no apparent control over them. He simply was making an educated guess that they would just so happen to show up within three hours from now. Then, his beloved "puppets" would do his dirty work for him, with a little persuasion that those tiny, pathetic virtues would be their ultimate downfall without all the pages.

Oh how devious! Yes, absolutely devious! Once that was done, all he would have to do would b-

Crap, where had he put those papers? He needed to send those papers off to each one of the sins!... And Kouji. He couldn't forget Kouji. "Goddamn it..." Whisper hissed, gathering the papers he had put together about each Virtue, mainly just describing where each virtue would be located once the gateway would open. What they chose to do within the next hours or so would be up to them. Knowing Kouji, he'd mostly be on top of things, try and locate the largest group of his fellow 'comrades'... But wouldn't that ruin the fun of this all? Scribbling one more thing down on Kouji's paper he'd be receiving, it would direct him to the Ocean District. Now he was having fun. He grinned as he began rolling each separate piece of paper into a neat looking scroll, tied with a ribbon.

Chuckling, Whisper tightly gripped each copy, he climbed the wooden ladder, pushing the tombstone that hide the entrance to his lair aside, climbing out as he pushed it back into place, sealing that entrance. Without even a word, there were eight crows in front of him, each one in a matter of minutes having the ribbon tied around their necks and taking off to their designed targets.
