There were whispers. The rumbling of men, the twittering of housewives. 'A girl', they said. 'A girl comes from the night.'

'Should we kill her, just to be safe?'

'Maybe.'

'I dunno.'

Haruka's eyes widened as she looked around her, though she never was the best when it came to paying attention, she was all ears when it came to the whispers of possibly killing her. What was so wrong with her that they felt the need to kill her? Just because she had wondered into an unknown town? "H-Hey! I didn't even do anything wrong!" Haruka defended herself, twisting and turning as her eyes shrinked slightly as fear sparked through her body, slowly but surely. These people... Why did they look so... Odd? The hell was she anyway?

"Doesn't matter." A man mumbled, only to be elbowed sharply by an old woman. The crone tutted, eyeing the stranger suspiciously. "Dark times, these. We can't trust just anyone comes a'walking in from the snow. 'Specially with the lord the way he is."

The crowd instantly turned on the hag. 'Shh, don't tell,' some whispered. 'Terrible losses, bad to speak of it....'

'Dark times? A lord?' Haruka raised an eyebrow. How could she even get herself mixed up into something like this? Worry, not for herself, but for the people around her and this so called 'Lord' slowly took over her better judgement with a small sigh. "What's... What's wrong with your lord, maybe I can help..." Haruka offered, "Oh, and I'm... I'm Haruka." She was quick to add it in, simply trying to defuse the situation at this point by offering her assistance.

Silence, followed by an explosion of murmurings. The mob clustered in on itself, clearly discussing some new idea. Only a couple fragments could be heard from the white-static of the conversation. 'Get rid of her...', 'he needs-...-wake him up...', '...the others never came back...', and '-unsure, should we?'. It took a bit, but the villagers reached a consensus. The old woman approached Haruka once more. She gave the young girl a stern, crinkly-eyed stare.

"You're a strange one... tell you what, you earn your keep, girlie, and we'll do you well. If you're sure, follow me." She crooked a wrinkled finger, and began walking away. In the distance, an almost oriental-looking fortress loomed over the modest village. The old woman pointed towards the manor.

Her gaze was unreadable. "The lord sleeps, girl. Ya need to set him free."

'I'm strange?' Haruka forced her lips into a straight line as she nodded and followed the old woman. The manor itself had a certain look about it that just drew Haruka to it. Perhaps maybe, because it was simply a large looking thing. As the old women pointed, Haruka looked over to her in utter confusion. "But... Can't he wake up on his own? You make it sound like an evil witch put a curse on him or something..." Haruka objected before looking back over to the manor.

The old woman had no words for a moment. "...perhaps that's a good way of thinkin' of it. The lord's room is the master bedroom, middle o' the manor. Ya can't miss it. All hallways lead there. If ya feel tired, keep walkin'. The sleep starts about... now." She stopped, and turned to this... Haruka. "I go no further. Girl, this is a dangerous job. Don't touch the lord's skin. Just give him a good shake through the covers, start talkin' to him. Don't let him drift off."

"A-Alright." Haruka nodded firmly, shaking together the odd sensation of being dozy as she continued her march towards the manor, hands clutching the backpack tightly as she looked back once towards the mob before she pushed open the doors in front of her.

Walking inside slowly, Haruka shuttered at the odd sensation of the warmth of being within a residence. Letting out another yawn, Haruka eyed her surroundings carefully.

People, presumably servants, were slumped over every which way. Of course, there weren't too many of them... but they were there. Like they'd just passed out where they were standing, even in the middle of preforming tasks. The place was utterly desolate. Everything was still; these supposedly living people might as well be dead. Without any people to maintain the heating, the air carried a certain chill.

A silence, laced with sleep, hung heavy in the air. It... rippled, in a way. Like how heat waves mirages on pavement. It beckoned, and blurred.

Haruka rubbed her eyes as she went up the staircase, looking for a room, or something that would sign as the Lord's room. The best chance would be to crack open doors, peep inside them... But whatever happened to these people, Haruka was most certainly feeling it now...

leaning against the wall for a brief moment, Haruka let out a long breath, she couldn't go to sleep now. She had something to do, and she'd be damned if she didn't do it. Quicken her pace, Haruka began to fight back with the urge to sleep, opening doors and looking inside them for anyone at all whom would look like a Lord, or was living in luxury as one would say.

Opening one of the doors, Haruka tilted her head. Why was a man... Wearing a mask in his sleep?

The sleepy fog in this room was nearly tangible, practically flickering in the air like thousands of finely-strung cobwebs. At the center of it all was a young man, who was indeed wearing a mask to bed; bone-white and stained with red. Possibly in the image of some sort of animal? From what could be seen, he was dressed only in a plain sleeping yukata. The majority of his form was buried under a mound of covers, as if the sleeper had made an effort to cocoon himself beforehand.

Getting to him might be difficult.

Letting out some kind of groan, Haruka mentally had to kick herself before marching into what was most likely certain "death" territory. Her eyes desperately wanted to shut, it felt like she suddenly hadn't slept in days but... Haruka frowned at the thought of sleeping like this. She most certainly didn't need to sleep until she figured out what she was even doing in this world.

Striding at a slower pace, Haruka began to pull of the blankets, dropping the bundles onto the floor next to her until the man only had one blanket left on him. Beginning to shake him through the blanket like the old women instructed, Haruka began to rise her silent voice. "Hey! Wake up! It's time to get moving!" Haruka tried her best to imitate her mother's way of doing it, but one this was for sure, her last resort was dumping ice cold water on him.

The hazy aura that filled the entire house flickered, before slowly, slowly curl in on itself. Like a night-blossom closing with the rising of the sun, with petals spun of sleep. It was a delicate act, culminating with a graceful closing into the master. The absence of the aura was immediately noticeable, the rooms brightened, and it was like the entire building simultaneously sucked in a breath of fresh air. All the cobwebs were blown away.

A single finger resting atop the bedding gave a feeble twitch, and a tiny groan escaped the confines of the mask.

Dmitri stepped out of the loudness and darkness of yet another strip club with fewer of the answers to her questions answered then when she came in. She may have had even more questions now. The dim outside light did not help in warning her when a taller man ran into her, not looking where he was going.

When the strange man bumped into her, Dmitri's first thought was about his scent. It was a strange thing to think about, or even notice in the first place, but this man smelled different than the rest of the people in this disturbing place. He smelled, well, cleaner she supposed, and more real than the rest of these prostitutes. He also seemed to carry himself with a different air than the rest of the people. It seemed like he knew what he was doing, and that he held a sense of power here.

"God, I am sorry! I didn't look front of me properly! Are you alright?"

Either his concern was genuine or he was acting, Dmitri couldn't exactly tell, and she had no idea if she could trust anyone in this place. She decided to take a leap of faith. She inhaled deeply and then spoke.

“Oh, its alright, I'm fine. That was my fault though I'm sorry, you see I'm a bit lost..." She paused for a moment, unsure of what to say next. Then she decided to just tell the truth. “I was told that I am a Virtue, do you um have any idea as to where I need to go?"

With a second thought she realized that she was being selfish and became rather flustered. She curled her toes in her shoes and swayed back and forth a bit.

“Oh erm, I'm sorry forget about it, you look busy, I'll just be going then!"

With a tiny bow to the seemingly out-of-place man she looked around for any sign to point her where to go, and, secretly hoping that the man would help her out of the kindness of his heart, she began to walk off.

Song of the Day | Amelie- Comptine D' un Autre Ete

Fourth played a beautiful tune, engulfing the whole room in its hypnotizing sound. The peaceful music could be heard throughout the Sin's manor, causing the workers and servants to pause in awe. The room which Fourth spent most of his time in, wasn't very big, nor was there very much inside this room. The design was quite simple and didn't call for extra extravagance, as it would only go to waste. In this white room, there was only a mirror covered wall, a black piano, and a black piano bench. Nothing more, nothing less.

During the mornings was the time Fourth awoke from his slumber, and began to play his piano. Maybe it was the sound of the keys or the way his hands gently glided across the piano. But Fourth always enjoyed playing his piano in the mornings. It was the one time, he never felt hungry or desired to eat. He could feel free. As if to wake him from his peaceful trance, Teez flew in at full speed toward Fourth.

Fourth froze his hands, his expression was dark and bone-chilling. Quickly he replaced it with a bright smile, facing Teez. "Good morning Teez! What has you all excited? You usually sleep until eight or at most nine." Fourth's pervious expression could no longer be seen on his features. It was now replaced by a carefree expression, and a curious stare.

Teez flew around Fourth's head in urgency,"Guest...Guest...Guest..." Teez spoke in a high pitched tone, one that would suit a child. Teez had recently learned to speak words, of course the little one was still rusty. So he could only speak so fast and say so many words at a time. Fourth found this hilarious, so he would always play around with Teez to make him speak more. But glancing at Teez's mannerism, the guest most be important.

Rising from his seat, Fourth twirled, facing the door. "Okay, Teez!~ Lead the way!" Fourth was unnecessarily loud this morning, but he was like this all the time. The word quiet mornings, wasn't in Fourth's vocabulary, or at least after seven forty-five.

Following the zooming creature, Fourth walked with hurried steps. A child-like happiness was painted on his face, eyes beaming with anticipation. Passing multiple of servants he gave each a warm smile, and a childish good morning. Arriving at the destination, Fourth was confronted with a black crown. Its black beady eyes staring into Fourth's different colored orbs. In his vision Fourth spotted a letter tied around the raven's neck. Reaching for the raven Fourth gripped it in his hands. The creature squirmed for freedom. Swopping down Teez spoke,"Four, won't hurt...He won't eat you."

Teez being a creature, most have been the reason, as the crow had calmed down. Taking this opportunity Fourth reached for the letter and released the crow, letting it fly away. "Lord, Pre-morning Breakfast is ready." Quickly Fourteenth's eyes lit up with glee, and he raced to the dining area, dropping the letter on the ground.

"Four! You dropped it! Four, the letter!" Teez grasped the letter with his tail, and zoomed after Fourth. By the time he caught up to Fourth, he was surrounded by a table filled with food. Fourth was so happy, he could barely hear the chefs words, as he tried to explain the food he had prepared. Seeing Fourth was not listening, he bowed toward him. Leaving him alone.

Without any hesitation Fourth began to dine on the meal before him. Hungrily stuffing down the food, as if he hasn't eaten in days. "Fourth! The letter!" Fourth tuned to Teez a piece of bacon frozen midway to his mouth. Glancing at the letter, Fourth's eyes sparkled again, "Oh! I forgot. Thanks Teez!" An innocent grin was spread across Fourth's face, and Teez could only match it happily. Reaching for the letter, Fourth read it carefully.

Hey! I thought you should know, but the Gateway is going to be opening soon. The rest of the virtues are coming. Perhaps, you would like their locations listed below? Good luck finding them before the others! Oh, and I'll send the virtue that has been right under your nose the entire time to one of you as well.

Temperance - Forest
Patients - Business/Residential
Humility - Red-light district
Chastity - Black Market
Kindness - Never Ending Winter
Charity - Never Ending Summer
Kouji - Diligence

~Yours truly,

Fourteenth showed a visible pout as he tapped his fingers on the table. Picking up the letter once more, he glanced through it. It had passed the appointed time, it was obvious that no one would be visiting him at the moment. Letting the letter lay on the now empty table he went into deep thought, his facial expression growing cloudy and intimidating. Teez flew close to Fourth, "Fourth...Teez will play with you." Fourth glanced over at the creature with a smile, reaching toward it, he pulled Teez into a hug.

"You make me feel so much better!" Fake tears ran down his face as him and Teez shared a happy moment, which was interrupted by one of Fourth's many servants. "Lord-", the servant's words got caught in his throat as Fourth sent him a threatening glare, followed by a innocent smile. Still unsure the man spoke,"You have a guest. It seems to be Whisper, Sir. And he has brought snacks."

All that Fourth heard was Whisper and snacks, as he raced toward the entranceway, Teez following close behind. Opening the door, he saw Whisper. A large grin spread across his face; extending his arms outwards, he embraced Whisper in a friendly hug. Followed by Teez who sat on Whisper's shoulder happily.

Of course Fourth was more happy to see the sweets than Whisper, but he probably knew that anyway. Fourth than remembered the letter which Whisper had sent, and looked at him with a pouting expression,"Why isn't anyone here, Whisper? I have been waiting. Thanks to your letter I missed my Mid-Morning breakfast, and was only able to eat my Pre-Morning breakfast."

“Oh dear god it’s not speaking to me is it?”

Seth paused, his smile freezing as he looked at the woman with an extremely bewildered look on his face. I…did she refer to me as it? He didn’t understand what he did to the lady, but she didn’t seem extremely happy about Seth talking to her- the disgust in her voice was undeniable. But Seth decided to shove it to the back of his head- he would most likely not talk to her anymore anyways. Taking a deep breath, Seth looked around and then looked down again, his cheeks puffed out, as he didn’t breathe out. “Oh. Leave the…city. Right.” Hearing her respond, Seth looked up and plastered his forced smile on his face again, though this time it was more strained than the one from before. His nerves were failing him- Seth could feel it as he tried to ignore the weird things moving around him, touching his back and intruding in his private space- and his hand started to twitch. Shivers ran down his spine as he spat out hoarsely, “Yes, please, thank you.”

Watching the woman carefully, Seth coughed a bit, blinking rapidly. “Yeah. Yeah okay come on follow me. Are you going to handle being in that crowd again or would you prefer a quieter rout?” A wave of relief filled Seth the moment he heard these words, his smile re-finding its sort of confidence it had earlier. “Thank you so much! I really can’t stay here any longer- it’s horrible. I wish I could stand people- and really, I’ve tried-,” Seth spewed out immediately, his mouth jabbering away as he moved his hands around in the air before him, as he tried to distract himself once again from the crowd around the two. He couldn’t really stop the irregular palpitations of his heart, nor could he stop his sweating; Seth could now only distract his attention away from the other moving figures- as he had done for the last few years back at Connecticut.

Taking a few steps forward, Seth turned back to look at the woman, a look of pure wonder on his face. “Say, miss, what’s your-,” He breathed in sharply and stumbled forwards, away from a figure that suddenly appeared behind him, “Sorry, sorry. Sorry, oh God. Oh, why are there so many people over there?” Waving his hand in a motion as if discarding something, Seth started anew once more, a resolute and determined look stuck on his face. “Well, um, Miss- may ask, what is your name? Mine is Seth Ellis, I hadn’t told you earlier- excuse my earlier rudeness.” He cleared his throat, feeling as if it had been blocked. Though Seth felt as if he would faint if he stayed there any longer, he knew he had to follow along with the pace of the woman with the pink hair, and she didn’t seem eager to budge much- especially due to the pinched look on her face.

Hopefully she’ll help me…

Freya

Location: Business District

_______________

Freya let him speak and bumble around with a look of almost wonder on her face. He seemed to be trying to come across as confident and collected and yet something, 'I'm guessing the crowds', seemed to be making him clearly unsettled. After he cleared his throat and seemed to gather himself Freya removed the expression off her face. She hadn't realized she had even made an expression. 'Looks like I'm slipping. Perfect. She sighed and grabbed his sleeve while walking fairly quickly, ensuring that he followed closely until they passed through the edge of the crowd they had been standing at. About ten steps away from the crowd she let go and slowed down a fraction. 'Should I feed him? Should I take him to Whisper? I can't just let him wander around, anything could happen and I will most likely be held accountable for it. How many years has it been since I've even seen a human? Huh. I ... I can't really remember.

Biting her lip she turned to examine him while walking down the street. He had asked her a question and she thought back to what it was. 'Oh, a name. Right. Do I say my title? Do I have a title? Some of the spirits call me Lady. Some call me Mistress. But I suppose you don't really introduce yourself with your title...do you?' A few creatures passed them and bowed as they looked at her but Freya simply looked forward to glare at the ground. Why had she been given the task of interacting with someone? Whoever was in charge was going to be fed to Xan as soon as she figured it out. "Uhm. Freya. You can call me Freya....Seth." Talking to him felt strange. Most of the creatures in this world either considered themselves a higher rank than her or looked up to her in fear or respect. Either way they never just talked. Except the other sins but then who really tried to carry a conversation with them anyway? Every single one of them was bat shit crazy. Freya chuckled before she could stop herself and cleared her throat to ignore it. "Do you...are you hungry er no um. Do you know why you're uh...here?" 'Great way with words I have don't I? Damn I don't know what I'm doing. I'm losing patience with this job already. Funny considering this guy is supposed to be Patience.' "Do you know what you're going to do Seth? Wandering around without a plan could get you killed or enslaved. Whichever you deem to be a worse fate." Or you know, he could stay and be subjected to her awkward way of interacting. She seemed to be doing a swell job at it. He was going to take off and she would have to hunt him down and the family members would be disappointed and Samuel would start yelling and swearing and then she might have to actually fight someone to get this kid back and all because she didn't even know what she was meant to do and--

Her fingers had been twirling in her hair and now her middle finger was caught in a tangle. Freya stopped walking and stood blinking at the ground for a few seconds. Why was her mouth open? Had she been speaking out loud again? She hoped not. Grinding her teeth Freya freed her finger from her hair and shook her head to compose her thoughts. She wasn't going to fail at...whatever this was. She would let everyone look down on her and be disappointed in her. People were expecting her to do something and she was going to figure out what and excel at it no matter what it took.

"I apologize Seth, for my awkwardness and rudeness. I have not even seen another human for...a very long time." There. That was a good start. Saying sorry for being a weirdo. Great. Freya sighed again and continued walking towards her home. Maybe he would follow. Maybe she would have to have Xan help her track him down. Maybe he would get eaten by Fourth. Who knows.

Ellie held on to the branch as tight as she could trying to ease her mind as Samael chopped the trunk of the tree. She shook her head "No way am I coming down to you peacefully!" She said with as much of an even temper as she could muster. She glanced around the trees seeing how close they are to eachother. Her head spun, sure she picked a thick trunked tree but how long would it last with the way he was chopping.

She took a deep breath looking down at him, "If I climb down how can I trust you wont take that axe to me?" She looked down at him "Besides why not leave me to fend for myself wouldn't the wilds do me in." As she spoke calmly she move to the other side of the tree, gingerly trying to shimmy over to the tree next to the one that was moments from crashing. "You should just let me go."

She manged to slink into the tree next to her as the one she had taken shelter in crashed to the ground, "No wait!" She yelped right as the tree started to swap backwards pulling a ribbon out of her hair and tossing it t fall with the tree as well. She pressed her back against the the tree bark taking shallow quiet breaths as she watched him move to the fallen tree.

Location: The forest Sector.

"Is that so? Well I'm sorry to hear that, it would have gone so much easier for you!" he growled at the girl, continuing to swing his axe in smooth, fluid arcs into the tree. He could hear the tree fibers slowly groan with strain as more and more weight was placed upon them. The tree had very nearly had it.

His axe stopped a mere inch from the exposed wood as she finally spoke up. "You're not the brightest of people are you? If I were going to kill you, I wouldn't have bothered talking to you, or asking you to come with me!" He resumed his chopping of the tree, his ears picking up the rustling of in the leaves above him. She was moving, but he couldn't tell how.

Feeling satisfied that the tree was now weak enough, he gave the trunk a solid kick and listened as it slowly crashed to the ground. Feeling rather calm now, his axe vanished and he walked up to where she had been hiding in the tree. While her scent was present in the tree, there was no sound. He crouched and felt around, finding a silky piece of cloth that smelled of the girl. He inhaled her scent, fixing it more firmly in his senses, and smelled her in the tree just next to the fallen one. "If you think that you can hide simply because I am blind, you're dead wrong!" he yelled as his axe appeared again, then doubled, and tippled in size. He roared and swung, the blade slicing cleanly through the trunks of every tree in a good 25 foot radius.

She wrapped her arms around the tree waiting until she could safely jump to the ground. She jumped quickly landing on her feet just inches from being flatted by a another tree crashing next to her. She took in ragged breaths " Oh I am not bright because I thought the crazy guy who pulled out in axe as soon as he met me was going to murder me, gee I should have seen that and thought I bet he wants to cuddle me." She stood facing him looking for something anything she could use as a weapon to defend herself. The closest she could find was a stick. She held her make shift club up bracing for a fight "If you thought I would just fall at your feet and beg for mercy well you already saw I am not that type of girl." She was able to calm herself as she looked for her club her voice had taken on her normal in control tone.

"You got me on level ground with you now, has anyone ever told you that you should get that temper of yours in check that is a really nasty habit you got."

Samael

Image

Location: The forest Sector.
Time of day: 9:15 A.M.

Samael panted lightly as his axe vanished like smoke in the wind, seeming to simply cease being solid. He winced a little as he heard the crashing of a great many trees, splintering and breaking against the hard ground. "It would seem I've lost my temper... again." He straightened himself and dusted off his coat while catching his breath and trying to keep his temper in check, and realized he was still holding the ribbon that had been in the tree. He stuffed it into his pocket and turned to the girl's voice. "I'll admit that... you have a bit of a point there. Quite a lot of a point really." He groaned as he heard her shuffle about and pick up a thick branch, feeling the rage stir within him. "No! I've already done enough damage! I cannot kill this girl!"

He took a deep breath and strode towards the girl calmly, his hands in his pockets. "No, you clearly aren't, and I can respect that. That's the kind of attitude that'll keep you alive here." He stopped a good five feet in front of Ellie, standing as unmenacingly as he could force himself to be, which was about the equivalent of a yawning lion on the savannah. He smiled and chuckled a little at her last comment, finding it genuinely funny. "Believe me, you certainly aren't the first person to tell me that, nor do I think you'll be the last. I realize I can be... unreasonable at times, so here's my offer." He sighed a little, disliking this even though it was his idea. "Hit me as much as you wish, until I'm bleeding, battered and broken. If I fall unconcious before that stick of yours breaks, you're free to go. If not, you'll come with me, and I promise not to harm you. Sound fair?"

Ellie watched him carefully as he walked calmly over to her. Her brow rose slowly as he actually started to laugh about her comments about his temper. She blinked a few times hearing his offer, She looked at the stick in her hands flexing her grip slightly.

She made her way over to him, she raised the stick taking a swing at him letting the air from it whip past his face. She dropped her stick at his feet letting the stick hit his feet. "I have a counter offer for you." She said in a gentle voice like she was trying to talk to a stray dog that had just tried to bite her face off.
