Frank VanDan

Captain of the 7th Internationals

0 · 155 views · located in The Real World, 2015

a character in “The Internationals”, as played by TheIMan

Standing at 6’ 1” and weighing in at around 200 pounds, Frank is fit and tough, the result of a hard life in the military. He is brown haired, with hard grey eyes and a strong and determined face. He wears his hair close cropped, military style, with a slight hint of a shadow along his jaw. Very neat, almost to the point of obsession, Frank is always clean and shipshape in his appearance. He is broadly built, with long arms and a long torso, but average sized legs, like a wrestler. He has no piercings or tattoos, apart from a small USMC emblem on his right bicep. He wears the standard uniform almost to a dot, with the exception of his old USMC dog tags and a custom holster for his Colt Delta Elite.

Cool, calm, and collected, Frank never allows his subordinates to sense weakness or fear in him. Excessively neat and a bit of an organization freak, he has a slight tendency to look down on more scatterbrained people. Never raising his voice unless it’s necessary to be heard, Frank relies on his aura of command to keep people in their place. Despite these traits, he is still human, and will socialize with others, although he expects to be treated as a superior officer at all times, with the respect that come with it. Sort of a mentor figure to younger or more inexperienced Internationals, he is very patient and will make absolutely sure that everyone is ready and confidant before entering a situation.

Main skill/specialty: Frank is a natural leader, and the ideal choice for Captain of the 7th Internationals

Secondary skill(s): Good with an assault rifle, and exhibiting some knack for driving military vehicles such as Humvees or MRAP trucks, as well as civilian cars. Knows how to assemble, disassemble and work most weapons by heart.

Preferred weapons: stainless-steel Colt Delta Elite 10mm Auto M1911-pattern pistol, USMC K-Bar knife, brass knuckles.

Martial Arts/Hand-to-Hand skills: Jujitsu, wrestling, boxing Standard Marine Hand-to-Hand combat training.

Native to North Dakota, Frank grew up in a rural middle-class family, with two brothers and an older sister. A bit of a loner during school, he looked down on his peers for being less mature, and tended to avoid social events as a result. Interested in history and politics, he took advanced classes and did fairly well at them. The only non-educational activity he participated in was wrestling, where he came in third place in the State Champs in his weight class. Not an exceptional student, in either a good or bad way, he graduated uneventfully and never looked back. He hunted and drove with the other farm boys, and became rather a good marksman, as well as a decent runner. He also took Jujitsu classes after school, as a hobby. As his family was struggling, Frank joined the Marines as a way to pay for collage, not thinking it would wind up being a career.

Once enlisted, Frank was shipped off to Iraq, and caught the tail-end of the First Gulf War. He became accustomed to the life, and enjoyed the discipline and neatness afforded by the Marine lifestyle. When offered promotion, he decided to go carrier. His natural predilection for leadership was fast recognized, and by the time he returned to Iraq in 2002 he was a Gunnery Sergeant. Soon after, in 2005 he accepted a commission and became a lieutenant. By 2009 he was a Captain. During his carrier in Iraq and Afghanistan, Frank became disgusted with the actions of his government, and increasingly convinced that the war was wrong and unjust. When the war continued to drag on, and casualties continued to mount for no apparent reason, he gave up in disgust and accepted an Honorable Discharge in 2011.

Over the next few years, Frank became increasingly angry over the escalation of evil in the world, and the powerful governments’ unwillingness to stop it. When Amir Mossaud approached him in 2014 about the creation of the Internationals, he jumped on the project, and was selected as the commander for the newly created 7th Internationals. Now he is concentrating on recruiting and training the 7th for their induction into the Internationals.

So begins...
