- Achluophobia: Due to her own Journey (which she never returned from) when her fellows left her for dead in the darkness. Ages barely 14 she was terrified of the darkness and the noises that echoed around the Wild.

Ali calls herself The Shadow. There is a reason behind this. The young woman is a trained and lethal killer and can move with such grace and stealth that she is hardly ever spotted coming until it is too late. When she took her own "Journey" her fellow companions left her for dead in the Wild after she became injured. Abandoned in the darkness, she all but gave up on life. But it wasn't the end for her. A gentleman who had lived in the Wild for many years took pity on the youngster he happened across and took her in. He cared for her, but he warped her mind to believe the Fiddleston Sisters were to blame and that she should seek vengeance on them. It became apparent that Ali was exceptionally talented with survival skills. He began training her to kill and since then she has been picking off others that live in the wild at her adoptive father's wish.

Aliana was born to a simple family. She had a father and mother, Eric and Rebecca Mead, as well as a little brother Joey. From a young age it was apparent that Ali was an adventurous child and sought all manner of activities that would keep her interested. As time went on she educated herself until that she knew every animal and could locate many different types of plants that were edible. When she was seven, her mother bore Joey and the little girl doted on her young brother. She would have done anything for him and she loved her little family more than anything. As she grew older, she took up Martial Arts with a friend of the family who taught her how to defend herself. As the years stretched on her parents worried about the Journey and prepared their daughter if it should come.
So it was no surprise when Aliana was picked. The young woman was elated and excited about her Journey, for she sought new adventure. The little town was starting to bore her active mind, for there were only so many times you could explore the pathways. Her parents bid her farewell with heavy hearts, praying that she would return to them without injury, or in fact return at all.
However, two days into their Journey and Ali was wounded whilst protecting a younger member of the group. For a further day and a half the group carried her, but they believed she would not survive and voted to leave her behind. Ali was betrayed by them and left in the roots of some trees to die. And die she nearly did. Fever took her and infection spread from her dire wound. Starvation and dehydration were bound to take her. Until Harry happened upon the dying young woman. Although he deliberated and hesitated for some time, he didn't need another taking up his resources, there was something in her purple eyes that begged him. Reluctantly he scooped her up and took her to his hut buried deep in the Wild.
Harry had left the town some time ago, disgusted by the methods of the Fiddleston Sisters. He had turned bitter and sour against the town and when he recovered Ali for her dismal state he taught her all that he had learned and believed. Ali was reluctant to believe in any of it at first, hoping to return to her family. But the longer she spent recovering in Harry's company, the more she believed it. He was charming and he knew how to weave a web of tall tales. He flattered her and talked gently with her until she believed. How could she return there? Slowly, she got better and as she did she proved her worth by providing food from the Wild. Harry saw her potential. And when she protected his hut from being raided by three men who also lived in the Wild, he began to train her to become a killer. She was the perfect weapon against the Sisters.
It wasn't long before Aliana and Harry had a name for themselves. Though there were few people in the Wild, many avoided the pair. The three men who had dared to raid Harry's home the year before were brutally murdered in their beds. At first people believed Harry was behind the murders, but word soon spread that it was the girl with the purple eyes, his apprentice. The name The Shadow began to circulate and Aliana carried out Harry's dirty work without question. Any one who had messed with him, anyone who had looked at him wrong was killed. She was so brainwashed that she didn't even question his motives anymore. Until he asked her to kill a 14 year old child. Admittedly, she came close. She lifted her bow and aimed, but the shot was never taken. Furious, Harry struck her, a mistake. Ali woke from the trance he had held over her with a snap. She turned her bow on him and though she did not kill him, she did leave his presence in disgust. That doesn't mean she didn't enjoy the killing. It gave her a rush, a feeling of freedom. She knows of the Rangers, though she is not part of their number as such. She leaves them be, occasionally following them without being seen, but she highly doubts they want her in their midst.
