H E I G H T
6' 2" (185cm)

B U I L D
Muscular & toned

H A I R
Black fading to white as it reaches the tips of it. Rather haphazardly styled with various dreads and braids. Often times having to be done by Sam, as Ardyn has a hard time doing it herself. As Sam also is rather insistent on being able to do her hair for her, often scolding Ardyn for 'Doing it all wrong.' Ardyn's learned to not argue. Note, this seems to be her pride and joy, for its odd coloration.

E Y E S
Ardyn has Heterochromia, meaning her eyes aren't the same colour in both. With one eye being a light greenish-blue and the other being a dark grey-blue colour. Something that she's actually rather self-concious about, and tries to make an effort of not making much eye-contact with others.

A T T I R E
In terms of clothing, Ardyn has a rather unorthodox sense of style. Mainly due to her sheer size, and finding clothing that actually fit her and don't restrict her movements, is next to impossible, she usually prefers to wear sleeveless shirts, and pants with boots combo. But whenever she does manage to find clothing that fits her comfortably, it's usually of minimal style, and more so function of keeping most of her body covered, as risking bites or scratches isn't worth it.

G E A R
Much like Sam, everything that Ardyn owns is carried around in a large black leather backpack. Containing the basics for every day needs. Due to Ardyn's sheer size in comparison to Sam, she's able to carry around more weight, so she usually finds herself carrying around both of their heavier equipment. Aside from the basics like food rations, and the like, Ardyn carries much of the same things as Sam. Such as a gasmask for traversing areas with spores, a large axe that is meant to be used with both hands, but she wields with her right hand. Using it as her primary form of armed combat, when she doesn't use just pure brute strength alone. Typically seen attached to her backpack with leather straps. And a Large Kukri Knife that is her secondary form of armed combat, which she keeps strapped to her belt on the right side of her waist.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
xxxxReserved • Loyal • Protective • Soft Spoken • Socially Inept

S T R E N G T H S
• Patience, to say that Ardyn has an inhumanly high amount of patience is putting it lightly. While she does have a short fuse for bullshit, Ardyn does have patience for just about anything else. From being understanding to what other people lack or unable to do, to being able to teach other things, and so forth. Ardyn has been traveling with someone who is both mute and deaf, so that alone is a testament to just one level of where her patience lies.
• Protective, Ardyn had always shown a side of being protective and beyond loyal to no end to those she has come to care for. Whether family or not. Ardyn has shown to be rather overbearingly protective. You threaten anyone around her, or show intent to harm, and no one will be having a good time.
• Emotional Control, surprisingly enough, Ardyn has a rather good control of her emotions. Almost appearing as having none most of the time. While she can at times, be loud and crass, she knows how to keep her true emotions under lock and key, and when to put up a front of shutting her emotions down when needed. There has been rare occasions in the past where she's needed to become numb to said feelings, and use her head in the moment and she'd prefer to keep it that way. Letting your emotions get in the way has proven to backfire on her in the past, and she'd prefer to not let it happen ever again.

F L A W S
• Short temper, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but Arydn has a rather short tolerance for bullshit. Small things don't tend to set her off, but the list of things that do is rather small. You don't mess with what's her's. Whether it's territory, people, or material things. You lay a hand on something or someone Arydn cares about, you bet you'll have a bad time.
• Slight ADHD, Ardyn was never properly diagnosed, the signs were always there. So, while she gotten some help over the years, one can't help but notice her occasional flighty-ness or lack of full attention to certain things. She can be working on one thing and immediately bounce to the next without thinking, or can be mid-conversation with someone and be easily distracted or go on a completely unrelated tangent. Something that tends to bite her in the ass if she loses focus on something she's trying to prioritize.

S K I L L S
• Physical Combat, Ardyn was taught from an early age to not only protect her, but others. For as long as she can remember, Ardyn has been trained ruthlessly by her father and eventually the Fireflies of how to defend her and others when the moment arrives. She's proficient in both armed & unarmed combat.
• American Sign language (ASL), due to their friend Sam having been born mute, with no way of verbal communication, Ardyn had learned how to use ASL in every day conversation rather early on. Usually residing as the translator among the group, as well as even just talking to Sam privately.

H I S T O R Y

Much like with Sam, Ardyn had grown up in the Austin Texas QZ. The two having known each other for almost as long as both of them care to remember or dwell on. Basically being siblings at this point in time. So, when Sam's family decided to move out of their previous QZ after an attack, Adryn found herself tagging along with them, as her own parents had been killed by a group of Raiders about eight years ago.

It was only when Sam's parents had pawned off Sam to a group of Fireflies, that she demanded they take her as well. She was already a well trained fighter and knew her way around places. Mostly due to her sheer size and level of natural intimidation, the Fireflies took them both. The levels of torment that they had both endured since being taken in by the Fireflies, is something neither of them talk about to others, or even really among themselves anymore. It was only after their Squad of Fireflies had been taken out by a random group of survivors, that Sam and Ardyn had made a break for it and been on the run since then. Avoiding most people and any major encampments along the way.

Ardyn has been looking out for Sam since then, especially since the accident that left her friend deaf. Ever since Ardyn really cares to never, she always viewed herself as Sam's protector, and it's only been more so since the event that left them deaf. She knows that Sam tends to get tired of their overbearing nature, but Ardyn always finds herself putting herself at risk for her friend's sake. After all, living in a world that's been long since over run with infected and those who rose up in power or took things by force, who you know is all that matters. Living alone in a world like this is practically a death sentence, and Ardyn is fully aware of that fact. Nevermind their companion being deaf and a mute? If she left Sam alone, it would have been equal to throwing them to a horde of infected, and she wasn't about to turn her back on them. No matter how exhausting it may be at times. Sam is all Ardyn has at this point, and she'd be damned if she wasn't going to give it her all to ensure that Sam at least gets to have a good enough life as Ardyn can give.

They had been keeping things low enough in the Boston QZ since then. Keeping their past relations to the Fireflies entirely unknown. Aside from Ardyn still having her Firefly dogtags with her in her backpack, as Sam had ditched their's when they left the previous QZ. Wishing to not keep anything from their past, but even as much as Ardyn despises them for what they had put the two of them through, she's not entirely able to let it go. While what they had subjected Ardyn to specifically, was some of the worst, there were still parts of what she experienced she was grateful for. After all, if she didn't receive the training they gave, Ardyn doubts she'd be able to have kept Sam as safe as she has been able to.

But, since having arrived to the Boston QZ, Ardyn and Sam had been using and more or less running the underground tunnels of the QZ to get in and out of the city unknown to the patrols and soldiers that scouted the area. Only a few people had known of their secretly run job, and Ardyn preferred to keep it that way. It was just after running into a group of Fireflies on one such errand, that the two found themselves being roped back in with the Faction. Simply helping to run a few tasks and favors whenever they were called upon. Which is how Ardyn found herself and Sam meeting the Merlock siblings. Often times being put on the same team to run certain missions for the Fireflies.

Ardyn wouldn't have considered them exactly close by any means, but they were decent enough people, and showed no signs of turning on them. It was only as time passed by that Ardyn and Sam had found themselves somewhat being looked after by Akari and River's mother, which only made what eventually happen far worse for the group. When the raid happened in Boston, the small group of Fireflies found themselves making a run for it out of the QZ in hopes of escape. All Ardyn remembers was lots of gunfire and screaming and crying as people were slowly picked off one by one before making it out of Boston. Never turning back once they stepped foot out of that hellhole.

After having escaped Boston with a small band of about seven survivors in total, they had set their next course of action to find some other base or some place they could go. The Merlock kids had suggested Seattle, where there was another Firefly base. Ardyn found herself begrudgingly willing to escort the remaining five to their destination. And once arriving, Ardyn and Sam would part ways with them. It was only within the first three or four months that the other three members of the Firefly squad had been picked off due to Hunters and Raiders, which as much as Ardyn didn't want to admit it, she found herself becoming more protective of the Merlock siblings. She'd be damned if she let anything happen to them on their way to Seattle.

That was a little over a year ago, and with the realization that the remaining four are slowly approaching Seattle, Ardyn finds herself at a standstill. Ardyn doesn't know what she wants anymore. She knows her job was to keep the two siblings safe, but after everything they had been through in the past year alone has slowly began to change her mind over time. Ardyn knows it'd be best to stick to the agreeance of parting ways once they find the other Fireflies like they had planned, but now, saying goodbye to her two newfound friends, or more so family by this point in time, may be a little bit harder than she'd like to ever admit. But Ardyn is dead set on finishing her job of bringing Akari and River to Seattle, but once they get there, Ardyn's not sure what she's going to do next, if she's being entirely honest with herself.
