Like Hana, Hunter carries everything around with him. Clothing, survival gear, bandages when he can get them. He also has a flashlight, some batteries, playing cards, a rifle, and a baseball bat he found a while back. Hunter likes to smoke, and he trades for cigarettes when he can, and most often has some on his person. He refuses to carry Hana's books, but she sometimes sneaks them into his pack.

S T R E N G T H S
• dependable: Hunter's the kind of person you want in your corner. He'll show up for the people in his life, every time.
• proactive: he's just the kind of person that sees what needs to be done, and does it.
• self-assured: Hunter very rarely doubts himself.

F L A W S
• self-centered: Hunter has a hard time seeing anything from other people's point of view.
• terrible liar: Hunter has a hard time lying, he's very obviously lying if he tells anything more than a white lie.
• functionally illiterate: Hunter knows the very basics, but can't read or write much beyond his name. Hana tried to teach him, but he could never quite grasp it.
• emotional issues: Hunter struggles to understand and express his own emotions. He tends to just ignore them in favor of supporting others.

S K I L L S
• critical thinking: Hunter thinks things through carefully before making decisions.
• resourcefulness: he's learned to make things work with very little to work with.

H I S T O R Y
Hunter doesn't really remember life before Hana. He remembers that his father had a beautiful voice, and his mother had a sad smile. Mostly he just remembers Hana. The way he had to hold her hand so she would stay focused, how she'd cry every night until she fell asleep, how he had to figure out how to cook and clean and be an adult on his own. He can remember the way she would tell him about how their parents must be dead, she would cry and sob and go on about how sure she was that they were going to starve or be beaten or taken as slaves. It wasn't an ideal situation for a child.

But he learned. Every new place they'd go, he'd find a spot for them. Sometimes it was easier for a young widow and her son (or her nephew, or her half-brother) to find a warm bed than two unrelated orphans, and sometimes people wanted to split them up, so it was better to skip that settlement entirely. As time went on, Hunter found himself relying on the kindness of strangers less often. He was eventually able to hunt for food for them, make impromptu shelters if needed, and protect them himself.

By the time Hana stepped up and decided to protect Hunter like she was always supposed to, he was already mostly grown and didn't need it. Sometimes he resents her for all the things she didn't do, all the ways she didn't help him, but he doesn't know any other way to live than propping her up. She became his family somewhere along the way.

Hunter wants more, though. He wants to have more than just Hana. He wants a place to call home, friends, a purpose beyond running from one place to the next. He doesn't think that's too much to ask for.
