Introduction
The city of Airegrand is located close to many labyrinth gates. The city's location provides excellent opportunities to be an explorer, thats why many adventurer's and scholars live in the city. Because of it's accessibility to the maze, the city has a thriving market in weaponry and spell, harboring some of the most renowned blacksmiths, and magicians the city of Airegard makes sure to prepare its adventurer's with the best equipment.
Once a year the people of Airegard have a competition to see who can go down to the furthest levels, but no one has ever gone past the third level. The third level, is located two floors down from the first levels of the maze, deep underground. What little is know about the third level is that it is completely dark, because the tunnels lack the common "rune-lights" which illuminate the hallways of the upper floors. Some of the fiercest and strongest creatures lie hidden within those dark halls.
This year many promising new adventurers have gathered in preparation for the event, and the city is currently having a large celebration. When creatures began to attack the king decided to raise the stakes of the competiotion, he will surrender the throne to whomever finds a solution to the monster attacks.
Will you be the hero that finds the reason to the recent attacks? Will you be the one to save the world? Or will you discover a secret so big that it will change the world of Terra forever?
Background information:
Setting: The story takes place in a medieval steam-punk world.
Teleportation stones. Along the hallways of the maze, adventurer;s have come across Large glowing stones marked with runes. When a teleportation stone is marked with that symbol, the traveler can exit the maze, and return to where they left off without having to travel back to town. They can also instantly return to where they left off by using the stone at the mouth of the Maze.
The maze: The hallways of the maze range from different sizes, some narrow others wide and roomy. The maze is not only filled with hallways, there are natural terrains formed all over the underground passage ways. There are parts that seem like forests, others are cold and icy. The further down you go in the maze the more extravagant, and large the hallways get.
The competition: The competition works as follows: While adventurer's are exploring the maze they are to find certain check points inside the labyrinth. These check points have been cleared of monsters and are safe places to rest. While there you are to find a representative, and receive the challenge for that day. If you complete the challenge you are to report back to the representative and provide evidence of your victory. Your team and yourself will be awarded points.
Adventurers: The daring explorer's that travel into the depths of the labyrinth come from many different backgrounds, and have unique skills.
Some are royal knights skilled in the way of the sword, others may be wise scholars trained in the ways of magic, or a skilled marksman trained in using new weaponry. Every one of them has their own reason to travel into the depths of the maze, greed, righteousnesses, or the pure thrill of battle.
Teams: The deepest parts of the maze are very dangerous, and many adventurers decide to group up to improve their chances. They give themselves a name, and often wear a logo or emblem somewhere on their armor. The most famous Teams are recognized with respect and admiration by all other adventurer's.
Magic: The magic in the world exists through the crafting of runes. Magic is fueled by mana, the life energy of the planet, when someone uses a rune symbol the rune directs and controls mana and changes it into what the rune was created to do. The runes are usually weaved by channeling mana to one's fingertips and quickly creating the pattern in the air. Expert magicians often tattoo symbols onto themselves and weapons for quick activation. The more powerful the spell the harder it is to keep control.
Guns and new weaponry: The creation of the gun is still very new and many of the weapons that are currently in use are very difficult to use. They are very powerful and provide a great advantage in battle. The sudden rise in monster activity has created an explosion of new inventions and weaponry.

Rhev let out a quick sigh. "Guess that does it for today," he reached into his pack and retrieved a fang he knocked off the lizard-man. "I should take this back to camp."
He walked down the hallway following the pull of his knife. After a few minutes of walking, he came across a teleporter. Stepping in front of it he placed his hand of the stone and channeled the magic. A soft blue light surrounded him and a second later he was back near the entrance to the maze, the camp was nearby. Rhev walked towards the camp contemplating what he was going to do the rest of the day. The first challenges were always pretty simple. You had to take something from a creature before you killed it. You had to be careful because as soon as the monsters die they fade away.
Rhev took a seat next to the fireplace, others had come and sat near him as well, they probably finished their challenge as well. He had gained twenty points for being the first to complete today's challenge. His current standing on the list was 75. He had a way's to go to get to the top. he needed 200 more points to catch up to first place. The crimson wings. It was tough to do it all alone, he would have to find a partner. Maybe someone around the campsite would be willing to join up with him.

Shift was nervous about this whole thing. People depended on magic for almost everything; especially in the labrinth. He knew hardly anything about the magic, and the only thing he was proficient at was cutting, and not everything in this never ending dungeon was cuttable, he full well knew. Or, not by a normal blade, anyway. This man looked as though he could cast runes well, and knew a little of what was going on. Shift however, didnt fully understand the maze, and needed to figure out what was what around here. As far as he knew, there was a large maze by the town, and the monsters were getting restless, so there was a competition of sorts to get as far into the maze as you can, and figure what was causing all of this dissaray in the monsters. Out of the corner of his eye, Shift saw a board with the top 10 competetors in the Labrinth. Crimson Wings was at the top of the list, far ahead of even 2nd place. hopefully this man could answer his questions, and maybe even help him.

In 11 years he had never seen so many people in this city, hoping to gain glory and fame… with a side of riches no doubt. In his mind most of them would die in that maze… it had gotten far more dangerous than it had been. His long brown hair fell around his scarred face, as the smoke trail drifted up from the pipe into the sky.
Glancing around the fire, he had noted the magic user arrive from the cave first, which was a boon to the young kid, but he had far to go. He was not surprised when another young man came to speak with the young mage, as the kid’s talent would attract more partners. Although the man looked stiff, he seemed capable in his own right.
With a sigh, he took the pipe out of his mouth and tapped it against a stone, empting it of its contents. As he was empting his pipe, a young group of adventures stopped in front of him, their youthful confidence seeming to reek off them. The leader of the bunch stepped forth and spoke with a confident tone “Hey old man! We heard you knew stuff about that maze”
Sigfried looked up at the young warrior, with his cold gray eyes, and the young adventure met it with bravery… or stupidity depending on your view “I am only 31, and what stuff?” the young man seized up Sigfried and declared loudly “We are going to kill a minotaur… wanna come?”
Sigfried thought it over, and shook his head. “Sorry kid, I don’t want to.” The young man growled and muttered “Coward.” Anger erupted in Sigfried eyes which turned quickly into an icy cold stare, and he stood drawing his sword. “What did you say runt?”
The young man drew his own sword, and spoke louder “you’re a worthless, old coward” and without another word Sigfried swung his sword in an ark, that the young man deflected with his own blade, his group widening to give the man enough room to duel the knight. As their swords hit and sparks flew the man looked at the swords with concentration phasing out all else, and Sigfried promptly punched the man in the face with his left hand, due to his utmost concentration on Sigfrieds blade he did not see his fist. The blow knocked the kid off balance and moving with experience, he swiped the kids legs out from under him and brought the sword point first down…
The man went white with fear as the sword point went down at his face, only to have it stick in the ground inches away from his face. Lowering himself near the young man Sigfried spoke calmly and softly, like a teacher reprimanding a student “You’re not ready for a minotaur, hunt a lizardmen or orc first. Than once you can defeat them well enough come back and I’ll join you.” Moving the sword form the ground he sheathed the blade, and offered his hand to the young adventure. Pulling the man up he dusted off his back, and gave him a friendly pat on the back.
The man and his group left somewhat embarrassed over losing, but Sigfried hoped they listened to his advice… as if they faced a Minotaur at their level; they would be dead in minutes.

She noticed there were others there and around not to surprised though she seemed to be the only one that came alone. She was from a smaller kingdom and they couldn’t afford to send out big parties to investigate. Her best bet was possibly team up with another party to further her investigation. She saw a few camps from her location and began walking in their general direction unsure of what one to go to and whether they are hostile or friendly.

Rhev returned his attention to the soldier. He recognized the rapier, it was only given to high class military men.
"Good morning!" he finally replied, "Or at least I think it's morning, never really can tell inside the maze. Rhev's the name. You look somewhat confused, you new around here?" He stood up and stuck his hand out to properly greet the man. Rhev was used to seeing new adventurer's every year new people gained interest in the maze, while other's decide they've had enough.

The fight that had happened before ended as quickly as it had started, and as part of his military training, he could asses a situation lighting fast. To the untrained eye, it looked as though Shift hadnt even noticed that a fight had gone down right next to him, when he really just assesed the situation and deemed it not apropriate to interfere. This man, appearing to be in his late 20's or early 30's clearly had it undercontrol, and Shift almost laughed at hearing that the young man wanted to kill a minotaur. Yeah, like someone like him could ever do that. more people were finishing with the test, and coming to the fire, and Shift was not fond of large crowds. His eye flitted back to the silver haired man who was in front of him.

He turned back towards the campfire and picked up his things, looking around once more, he noticed that a woman knight had made her way up to them. "If you guys need, something feel free to ask, though I can't guarantee that ill be able to answer your questions." he said addressing both of them.

"Every day a challenge is set up, whenever you finish it you get points. The sooner you finish the bigger the points awarded. Thats why a lot of people set up teams, the more strength you have the easier your chances." As he said that he ran his fingers across one of the feather's on his belt. "The more points you have at the end, the better prizes you can have. This year, first place gets a hundred-thousand gold pieces. Enough gold to earn your place amongst the nobles. Not to mention incredible respect from all the other participants. This time though there is a special prize, whomever gets to the bottom of the labyrinth, and puts and end the the unusual monster attacks will become the new king of Airegard." Rhev took a break to let them take it all in. He had been speaking fairly loud, and noticed that some other new adventurer's were listening to him.
"Listen, I need to go back into the labyrinth, If you guys are still curious you should come with ill talk to you along the way. I would also appreciate your help, gets pretty rough in there when you're alone."

Rhev paused, they had been walking for only a short while and were standing at the mouth of the maze. The camp was still close behind. "I'm going in there to find one of these targets, 'The Walking Armor'. Its a ghostly figure, massive golden armor that moves on its own without some one wearing it. It would be great if you guys helped me. You would also get points for participating." Rhev took a map out, it showed many intricate path ways weaving in and out of each other, they were labyrinth passageways. There were a few red marks imprinted on it, but one of the was circled out. "Thats where were going." He said pointing to it. "Now that I think about it, we're going to need a few more people. Looking back at the campfire he noticed the knight, and a young gunner sitting down. "Hey!" he yelled at the girl, and knight, "I want to hire you guys!"

After hearing the description and hearing about the walking armor. She nodded a bit as she looked over at the map. “Interesting and deadly and the kings armor… made of gold are you sure that’s a good thing to go after right now?” She looked at them. “Is there any more information on how we kill it or the best plan of attack?”

Standing, his armor clanked and clamored as the plates rubbed over each other. Moving with his consistent thudding of his mailed boots; He entered the portal and spoke normally “I don’t want treasure, or this kingship. Assuming that time comes, I wish that we vote amongst ourselves who is the best suited for the weight of the crown. What I want is glory and a challenge. I overheard what you are going to face, and I am eager to face this walking suit of tin.” He meant the end as more of a joke
Realizing he forgot his introduction, he bowed his helmed head to them for a second “I am Sigfried Ausstadt, eleven year veteran of this maze”

They walked together for a while, the moss squishing under their feet. It was getting misty, and a small fog started seeping in the further they walked. The hallway they were in expanded bigger and bigger. There were several yards in between each wall. A sort of humming sound started to fill the air, no it was more like a soft roaring. Before he could continue his train of though was interrupted by a sharp screech in front of them. A group of armored lizard men was charging them, they each held some sort of weapon in their hands.
"What?" Rhev exclaimed reaching back to grab the his spear. "How are.. they've never been this organized. They flanked us completely."
The lizard men had formed a circle around the group.
