"He passed out again. And should you really be kicking these men around, what if they have revolt!" She was only joking of course, only an idiot would think of taking on a man who had a dragon as a friend.
"So why are you heading for the mainlands than 'Captain'?" She asked as she stared off into the horizon. Maybe she was being a bit rash right now, after all she had no cloths or anything except the stuff on her back and yet she could not bring herself to care, the sea breeze felt good against her skin and the sunset only thrilled her more as they slowly made their way out of the docks.
Ceralis had put the mans weapons out of reach and resumed the healing, "He must be pretty crazy if he moved around that much after being so badly injured as well as having nearly drowned, that or he just has a warriors instinct, I say the second seeing as he has so many weapons." Carla pondered out loud as she took a seat next to the mans bed and watched as Ceralis worked
"Ceralis..." She found herself asking after a brief pause, "What do you mean find a place to settle down? You came from loreal, why not go back?" She had heard of the city of thieves once or twice but was not aware of its traditions and was in fact quite curious about it.
"So what happened in Loreal? Im sorry, i can be a bit to curious for my own good." She stuck her tongue out and made a face before getting up to stand next to ceralis, glancing over the map. Turning around and resting herself against the edge of the table she looked at Ceralis and noticed his red face, "Hay Ceralis, are you okay? You got a really red face, maybe all that healing gave you a fever!" She said worridly, she had nver seen someone heal a wound like Ceralis had and she wasnt sure if it could actually a negative effect.
Looking around the room for some type of entertainment, she found herself staring at a huge bookshelf filled to the brim with old and new books, worn and rebound, filled with information about the outside world. Making her way over she pulled out a big, brown leather bound book, cracking it open only to cough as some dust blew into her face. Carla hated sitting still but maybe being able to read and sate some of her boundless curiousity would help a little.
She spoke for a while and then he motioned at his bonds again. "Friends? Please cut me loose?"
"Your on a ship heading for the mainlands, I hope that okay with you but we didn't really get a chance to ask if you were okay coming, seeing as you were so badly hurt." She sent him a warm, comforting smile before shutting the book and replacing it on the bookshelf. "You shouldn't move around so much when your hurt." She commented offhandedly before moving over towards the man.
"Friends? Please cut me loose?" Carla smiled brightly at the mention of friends before giving a nod and making her way through the knots, beginning to untie the man.
"My names Carla, in cause you didn't hear, may I ask your name stranger?" She sent him another smile as she finished untiring the rope and helping the man to sit, refusing to let him do it alone after what he had been through today.
~Meanwhile~
Light couldn't help but chuckle at the man, "I treat her how I do because we are partners, she is the only one I will allow to talk back to me and in exchange she deals with my amazing personality." Light said arrogantly, while glancing towards the door Carla had left through. "Of course I can believe that, I would not choose as unattractive partner, it's no surprise really." Light continued vainly, not even faltering after the cold glare he was given, just watching Ceralis sit down.
"Wow, this looks really amazing!" She couldn't help but grin in joy, she loved reading and if it would help her get closer with light than there wasn't much of a down side. "Thanks Ceralis, where did you get it though?" It was old and well looked after, maybe it had belonged to the previous captain?
"What's that you got there?" He asked sleepily over her shoulder before giving a huge yawn and shaking his head, "Oh wait, I'm to tired to actually care." He finished as he lay his head back down and closed his eyes. Carla chuckled at her friend as she looked over the first chapter, "Your first steps to frying a person with lighting." Carla giggled slightly at the title before beginning to read, hoping to catch the lady few rays of light.
Clearly, he thought, there existed a dynamic between people and dragons that was not solely defined by who ate who. These relationships could clearly be beneficial and productive. More importantly he thought he could have a companion and together they would be unstoppable.
He decided to fully investigate these strange circumstances and dymanics. The little girl had been friendly, he would ask her.
He saw her reading and came and sat down 5 feet away from her, keeping a bit of distance between himself and the dragon. It took a lot of gesturing and miming but his command of the language was already getting better. "You and he" he pointed at her then the dragon, "You friends? How?"
He listened as she told her tale and then after pondering spoke. "North there are no friend dragons. They are wild and fierce ruled by instinct. And the Bandit clans that have their own are worse. They always try to go south, to richer lands unfortunately for us we are in their way. There is much fighting. Look at my armour, my knives." He motioned to his dragon scale armour and his Talon knives. Then he sat as if lost in thought
"When I was younger I ran away from home and found myself hiding in Lights lair, he came back and found me. I don't know why he didn't just kill me than but we stuck together for about a month before I had to return home because of an illness, he waited for me until I was healthy again. We have been together ever since." She said, giving him the simple explain action on how her and Light met.
"North there are no friend dragons. They are wild and fierce ruled by instinct. And the Bandit clans that have their own are worse. They always try to go south, to richer lands unfortunately for us we are in their way. There is much fighting. Look at my armour, my knives.", Carla glanced at his weapons and armour and couldn't help but be slightly fascinated by them, she found herself curious about his homeland, after all she and never met a dragon who had attacked someone before. She knew they could but she had never met one.
"All dragons are ruled by instinct, even light. And that's probably why he became my partner, because it is in his instinct to protect me." She smiled at her dozing companion, giving his shining scaled head a gentle pat to show her compassion towards him. "It my belief that every Dragon has a rider, who knows, maybe you will find your own partner one day." She smiled at him before noticing he had a vacant look in his eyes, not really listening to her anymore.
Giving a tired smile, she leaned back against Lights stomach and placed the book down next to her. Giving one last yawn she felt her eyes close, smiling faintly when she felt lights tail curl around her on instinct to keep her warm.
Carla saw the man exit from below deck, he must of moved down there after she fell asleep, and began to fire questions at Ceralis in rapid succession. Carla didn't really mind, she also found herself slightly curious about the land, after all she would probably be on her own there once she left the ship. Thinking back, maybe this had not been her best idea in the world, but she couldn't find it in her to regret it, the prospect of a new adventure to strong.
"Hay light, you will stay with me in this new land right? No upping and running away, okay." She whispered at him, sending a small smile to try and hide her worry.
"Like I could abandon you." He said noncommittally before continuing with his breakfast.
"This is good! I will have my own dragon and be able to protect my people! We will be unstoppable."
Gasping a bit for air, she could already feel her hair beginning to stand on end as Light release electricity into the air, glancing back nervously she mumbled, "Maybe you should let me go before..." she sent another significant glance at her pissed partner. His protective mode now on full blast.g
