20 years after the Fire Nation's invasion, all is peaceful in the world. That is, until a new threat poses as an ally and throws the world into a bloody feud for control of the Moon's Jewel

1,177 readers have visited The Last Airbender: Tsuki no hoseki since Arekkusu created it.

Introduction

Tsuki no hōseki: The Moon's Jewel.

A single object that is nothing but myth. They say whoever harnesses the jewel's power can amplify their bending to a level that surpasses the Avatar himself. But legend says that this artifact was lost thousands of years ago. Anyone that has tried searching have failed, their journey ending in death. No one knows how the jewel came to be, or how it vanished. Some disregard it as a story, others believe it is the moon itself. Still, to this day, there are those who think it exists, and desperately try to hunt it down in order to gain not only power, but fame and glory.

A certain person in mind, hunts vigorously for the Moon's Jewel. He has been looking for decades, even when the Fire Nation threatened the world, this one man stayed on his task. He ignored the fate of the world for his own personal gain, and has payed dearly. Now his patience grows thin, and he has grown tired of searching for nothing. In the Fire Nation capital, he plots and schemes, waiting for the perfect moment. During Fire lord Zuko's reign, this man begins his ultimate idea. In the period of an hour, the General of the North; Len Fer, destroyed the Fire Nation capital, forcing Fire lord Zuko and his family into hiding. Len now has total control over the devastating armies of the Fire Nation, and he plans to use them to his advantage. He has declared himself the new Fire lord, and has marked Zuko as an outcast. However, the people of the Fire Nation love Zuko, and ignore Len's lies. Wanting nothing more then to find the Moon's Jewel, Len has began a march on the world for complete domination. He has the Fire Nation under his might, and soon, he will have the whole world at his disposal, unless..

The Air Temples. All of them destroyed by the war two decades ago. But have now been restored to their former stature. The Avatar Aang has come to make his home here, along with his wife and two sons. Katara, a water bender from the Southern Water Tribe, raises her sons in the Air Temple, teaching her youngest waterbending, while her older son has picked up his father's abilities. Aang and Katara are clueless as to the events that are unfolding in the Fire Nation, and receive word of the situation too late. Because it is the Avatar's duty to uphold peace between the four Nations, Aang sets out for the Fire Nation capital to confront Len. He has sent a message across the entire world: The Fire Nation has been seized by the General of the North, and anyone wishing to fight for peace will do so, or perish in the ashes left behind. With this message, warriors from every corner of the world stand and fight for peace. But, because of Len's years of planning, he is a step ahead. The Fire Nation has control over a large part of the world, and their grip tightens, covering more land each day.

In the Earth Kingdom, the King himself has declared war on the Fire Nation. He believes Zuko is behind all this, thinking the Fire lord wants power just like his father. The King has told his beliefs to his subjects, who now hold hatred for Zuko, and stand to fight his supposed conquest for world domination..

In the Water Tribes, warriors flock to the mainland to confront the Fire Nation and assist the avatar as best they can..

Zuko has heard of Aang's actions, and in order to help the Avatar, sends one of his best men out to find a group of powerful benders who will aid Aang on his conquest. One of Zuko's elite guards, yet somehow, this guard is unlike the others..

"Hm?" Takashi looked over his shoulder at Nina. He figured she'd ask that sooner or later. But it was a little sooner then expected. "Well, she technically isn't supposed to be traveling with me.." He sighed a little and leaned against the side of teh ship, watching the water below begin to splash about much more violently as they picked up speed. "As you're well aware. Firelord Zuko has taken refuge for the time being. The sudden outburst by Len Fer caught everyone off guard. But, recently, the Firelord has recieved news that the Avatar is heading to the Fire Nation capital. He's sent a detailed letter to the Firelord, but the only thing he asked was for him to stay safe. Well, Lord Zuko, being as stubborn as he is, wouldn't think of letting the Avatar go face Fer alone. So he sent me to aid the master of the elements."

Takashi took in a quick breath and paused for a split second before resuming. "Well, I had just left the Firelord's company, and everything was going fine. That is, until I found Torhu following me.. She had disobeyed her father's request to stay behind, and had snuck off to join me on my little adventure.. By the time I found her, we were long gone from Lord Zuko, and couldn't really turn back." He laughed a little at the situation he had ended up in. "I'm sure it's a bit obvious as to why we didn't tell you. You saw what those guards did the moment they realized who she was. There's a bounty out for Zuko's head, and if Fer found out his daughter had left the Firelord's protection, well.. All hell would break loose. So, at the moment, it's best if we just keep her identity to ourselves." Takashi had purposely left out his position in his little story. He didn't want anyone to know what he actually did for a living, since he feared it could backfire on him.

Nina listend, not really putting in any imput when Takashi explained things to her. By now she'd moved to sit down, her back pressed agaisnt the side railing and her legs stretched out infront of her. While Takashi explained everything, Nina did note that he seemed to leave his position out of the story. She assumed he must have be someone rather important, for the Fire Lord to send him out to help the Avatar. But then again, Nina hadn't been to the Fire Nation in 5, close to 6 years. For all she knew Takashi could seceretly be Lord Zuko's son or something along those lines.

After a few minutes of silence, once Takashi had stopped talking, Nina realized she'd lost herself in her thoughts once more. Something she offten did when in pain, or just really tired. "Oh..Well that's understandable then." She nodded some, then falling silent as her thoughts began to run wild. She remained in the position she'd been sitting in for a long while, before she finally let out a sigh. Nina pressed her hands against the ground, pushing herself up with a little difficultly, but finally managed to make it to her feet. While she'd been thinking, her thoughts quickly strayed to her father. Looking to Takashi once more, Nina tilted her head agian. "How long have you been away from the Fire Nation? And...when you were still there, did you hear anything about an elder man,Kiyoshi Misaki by any chance?" She questioned quietly. In all reality, Nina feared an answer to her fathers wellbeing, but only hoped for the best.

Takashi was silent for a moment. "It hasn't been that long. Around 5 days or so.. But, it feels much longer." He sighed a little and pushed himself off the railing. "As for this Kiyoshi Misaki.. No, I haven't heard anything about him. Do you know him somehow?" Takashi could only guess this person had some importance to Nina, or she wouldn't have broughten it up. She didn't look like a bounty hunter, so he assumed the man was a friend or relative of hers. Takashi glanced up to the sky and watched the clouds drifting by. "..It's going to get dark soon. The Earth Kingdom isn't too far away, but it will still take us most of tomorrow to get there. Until then, I suggest you rest. Once we hit land, you're going to have to be in good condition. Or else we're in trouble.."

Nina nodded, it was an answer she was expecting, but it didn't help calm her worrying. She let out another sigh, looking down at the water. "He's my father...I haven't seen him since I left 5 years ago. And I haven't heard from him in quite some time now." Sighing a bit she shook her head to clear away the bad thoughts. "But I'm sure he's fine. And don't worry, I'll be just fine once we hit land Takashi. I'm stronger then I look." She gave him a slight smile, before looking off to the sky for a few moments.

"And Takashi is stupider than he looks." Torhu sneered as she came up from the engine room, pushing a young Fire-nation soilder in front of her. The young man was scared, around 17, and very, very, stupid. "Next time, check the ship before you jump on it, okay? He says he's new to the army, doesn't know what's going on, and was trying to flee after Len-Fer took over. And the thing is, he's telling the truth. Look familiar? Len-Fer has a bounty on his head, too. He's his son." She held up the poster, it was the same kid. "I see no reason not to keep him around. Unless of course you wanna fry him too. Taking away some of Len's family just might help. But then, I was never one for meaningless slaughter." There was a hard edge to her voice as she spoke to Takashi. It was obvious that she was upset at him.

Takashi glanced over at Torhu. Perfect. Why is it that she blames me for every little problem that comes along? He stood and cracked his knuckles, walking over to the soldier. "So, even Fer's son is scared of him? That's pretty sad." You didn't have to live with him! "Eh, that's true.." Takashi grabbed a hold of the chest plate on the boy's torso and yanked him an inch or so off the ground. "Do you want to stop your father's tyranny?" W-What? Ow! Hey let me down! "Answer me!" Y-yeah..I guess so.. "Good." He dropped the boy and dragged him over to the edge of the ship. "Then you're going to take a rowboat and go back to the Fire Nation. Tell them you ambushed us on the ship and burned this hunk of junk to the bottom of the sea. If they don't believe you, tell them to look out at the horizon." What? B-But how will they know I'm telling the truth? "They'll know. Trust me. Now get going." The boy looked at Takashi, a little confused, but nonetheless, he got into a rowboat and paddled off to shore. "You can yell at me later Torhu. But right now, we need to make an explosion. A big one."

While Nina stared up at the sky, she could feel the pain in her hip and side grow just a bit stronger for a moment, before she closed her eyes. Nina forced her breathing to become slow and deep while she cleared her mind to get rid of the pain. Though just before she slipped into the dark unconciousness that she felt coming on, she faintly heard Torhu mention something about Fer's son being onboard. Fer has a son? Nina thought to herself, before all sound around her vanished and she slipped into the darkness, slumping over to her side a bit. To anyone else, it would have looked like she was merely exhausted, but one thing Nina had learned on her travels was how to heal herself through mediation, and sleep. Which was what she was currently doing. Once she woke up, she would no longer feel that pain in her side. Or at least she hoped.

Tohru simply glared at him, motioned to Nina. "Then get her out of here. I'll take care of the ship." Her voice was like steel towards the one man who was usually her friend, but not at the moment. "They didn't have to die you know. Being traitors and being mis-lead are two very different things. Now get going." With that she turned her back on him, not caring much if he was doing what she asked of him or not. Takashi wanted an explosion, he'd get one all right. She started planting little flames all over the ship. Eventually they would reach the center of the engine room and the engine would blow. It would give them enough time to get far enough away without getting hurt. She made sure her dual blades were secured at her waist before going over to help Takashi with the longboat.

"Last time I checked, it was my job to keep you safe. I'm simply fulfilling my duty. Your highness." Walking over to Nina, who seemed to be fading in and out of consciousness, he picked her up once more and walked over to the one longboat that was left. Setting her down inside it, he tugged on the ropes as the boat began to lower into the water below. Torhu had finished her idea, whatever it was, a little faster then he would have expected. But, instead of protesting, he kept his mouth shut. Once the boat had hit the water, Takashi grabbed the oars and began rowing towards the direction of the Earth Kingdom. It would still take them a while to get there, much longer now that they had left the ship. But, the group would still make it by tomorrow night. "I suggest you try and get some sleep Torhu. I'll wake you when we're almost there."

"Last time I checked, it was my job to keep you safe. I'm simply fulfilling my duty. Your highness."

Torhu bit her tounge, a retort burning like acid in her mouth. She knew Takashi was only doing his job. And turning against him was no way to keep them together. Dividing eachother now would just be bad. She sighed, and wanted to protest, but her mind and body wouldn't let her. Slowly, her eyelids dropped, and she slept. It wasn't a good sleep, either.
~+~+~+~+~+~+~
Torhu walked down the dark hallway. It was storming outside, and it was late. She could see the soft glow of firelight coming from the Fire Lord's study. She heard something. "Father?" Her voice was small, young. This wasn't a dream, it was a memory. She crept up to the door, peeking in. Her father sat in one of his chairs, pouring over a book. Torhu's eyes widened. It wasn't her father. "Roran?" She stepped in, her eyes wide with confusion. "You know we're not supposed to be in here, what are you doing?" The man turned on her, his eyes furious. The little girl's eyes widened in fear. Tohru screamed.
~+~+~+~+~+~+~
Torhu jolted awake, the sun rising. Nina was still asleep, Takashi was still rowing. Torhu was in a cold sweat, and she looked down at her right arm. Very few ever asked the Princess why she always kept her right arm covered. Not even Takashi had asked. Pain shot through her arm at the memory. She stared at it silence.

Nina shifted uncomfortably in her meditative sleep. She was very much aware of what was going on around her, but untill her body was fully healed she wouldn't be able to open her eyes, nor ask questions. So instead, she lay where she was set, and just listened. Torhu seemed to be rather upset with Takashi, while he seemed indifferent. Hmm.. Slowly the sounds of the waves rocking agianst the side of the row boat lulled Nina's mind into an actuall sleep, though she would much have perfered to stay awake.

In the dream Nina had, she could see her father's bright green eyes, followed by his scared whisper. "My dearest daughter..Don't return to the Fire Nation Nina...I'm no longer there.." Nina was beyond confused, though at the feel of her fathers hand against her cheek, Nina pulled herself from her sleep, as well as meditation, bolting into an upright postion. Her breathing was harsh, and her gaze was wide as she stared out at the rising sun. "..No.." She whispered to herself, a single tear working down her cheek. She wasn't sure how she knew, but Nina could just feel, her father was no longer living.

She took a ragged breath, trying to get her emotions under control before Torhu and Takashi noticed. She turned, angling her body away from them as silent sobs caused body to shake just a bit. Damn it..

Takashi yawned. He was more bored then tired, seeing as he had never slept much. Numerous people had said it was some weird condition, but Takashi blamed it on his appetite for a good fight. If he couldn't quench that little desire, then he wouldn't sleep. Simple as that. The fire bender was averted from his thoughts though when Torhu jolted from her sleep, followed by Nina sitting up. Both seemed shaken up about something. "You two alright?" He could only guess they both had some type of bad dream. "We're nearing a Fire Nation checkpoint. Keep your heads down and just let me do the talking, alright?"

Instinctively, when Takashi asked if she and Nina were alright, Torhu gripped her right arm and said, almost mechanically, "I'm fine." She glanced up, looking at their surroundings. She pulled her hood up, covering her face. "Let's just hurry, alright?"

Nina was shaken from her thoughts by the sound of Takashi's voice, questioning if she and Torhu were alright. She didn't answer, but gave a shaky nod as she scooted closer to the boats edge. We're nearing a Fire Nation checkpoint. Keep your heads down and just let me do the talking, alright? Nina wished she had the strength to give Takashi a smart remark, but she felt utterly and completely drained. So instead of replying with an answer, she simply nodded resting her head agianst the edge of the boat, her hair dropping to hide her features a bit. "Whatever you say, cheif." She muttered softly, her eyes drifting closed once more as she began to think about the vision of her father. Could...Could it be true...Is he really gone.. She thought to herself, a second round of tears making their way down her cheeks.

As they neared the chekpoint, Takashi cleared his throat, slowing the boat to a crawl. An elder looking soldier walked to the edge of his own vessel, peering down at the trio. State your business. Takashi, who had planned for this, pulled out an envelope, tossing it up to the soldier. "I've got orders from Len Fer himself, instructing me to take these girls to the Earth Kingdom." The soldier eyed both girls, noticing each of them were oddly depressed. ..Alright then.. Be safe. With a short nod and flick of his hand, the large net that was laid out in front of them lifted, allowing the group to pass. Takashi couldn't help but laugh quietly to himself as he began rowing once more. "We'll hit land by nightfall. Which is perfect, since we'll need the dark to travel."

Torhu didn't answer, she was lost in her own thoughts. Where are you...Roran? Have you died? No...you were always too smart for that. She wondered vaugly about him. It had been awhile since she'd remembered. She wondered what triggered the memory. Neither Takashi or Nina knew Roran existed, neither knew about the exstensive and intracte burns on her right arm, so it hadn't been either of them. Then, her eyes widened. It was the anniversary of the night it had happened. It made sense now. While she normally kept her face set, the thoughts weighed heavily on her mind, and her face becamme one of both weariness and sadness.

Nina remained silent for a long time after they made their way past the checkpoint. She had become rather lost in her thoughts. After a good while of silence, Nina finally sat up, brushing her hair back from her face, while wiping at her red swollen eyes. "Takashi...I don't think I'll be travling with you and Torhu any longer once we reach the Earth Kingdom...I.." She paused for a moment, sighing a bit as she rubbed at her eyes again. Once she began speaking once more, her voice wavered slightly, tears threatening to spill from her eyes once more. "I have to..Go back to the Fire Nation..As soon as possible.." Lifitng her hand she quickly wiped at her eyes sighing once more.

Takashi glanced over his shoulder, looking at Nina. "You're joking right?" A sigh escaped him, and he stopped rowing for a bit, letting the boat drift along the water. "There's no way of getting back now. Not unless you've got another forged note from Len Fer. He's islotaed the islands from the rest of the world. Only those with military business get in and out. So, you've got three options. Stick with us. Try and sneak back in, which i strongly disagree with, since the checkpoints are more fortified then the palace itself.." He paused and sighed again, starting to row once more. "The third option would be to join the Fire Nation army and make it up to a Commander. Then, you'd have no problems. But, by then, this whole thing will probably be over.."

Nina sighed, she knew Takashi would try to reason her out of it. But, sadly the girl was stubborn. Very stubborn. And she'd already made up her mind. "Then I guess I'm sneaking in." She stated, shrugging her shoulders as though it were the most logical thing in the world. She knew it was't in fact it was probably suicidal. But, she really could cae less. She needed, no she had to see if her vision was true. If her father was truely gone. Maybe just give him a little insight..Not much.. She thought sighing once more. "Look, I know you're trying to look out for me...But there...There is really no changing my mind. I have to see..For myself, if..What I think happened, is true."

"Shouldn't she be able to make her own decisions?" Torhu said, then wished she'd bitten her tounge. She threw an apologetic glance to Takashi, and then put her head down. She had too much rushing through her head to be making comments like that. She had been wondering about how she was going to stay hidden, and then it hit her. No one knew about her scars except for her parents and Roran. She just had to do something with her hair, and her outfit, and then...uncover her arm, and it would be perfect. "I need to go shopping when we reach the Earth Kingdom. Or..." She added with a sly smile as she knew Takashi would be against her going out, "You could always go for me, Takashi."

Takashi glanced to Torhu then quickly to Nina. "Look, I'm not trying to force into anything, but I can't let you go back. If you do, they'll wonder how you got across without raising suspiscion. They'll check the logs, and come across a boat that had a signed letter from Len Fer, carrying one male and two females, that crossed the checkpoint. It's the Fire Nation Nina. They can and will put two and two together. You'll probably be arrested, and Torhu and I will be hunted down. I'm sorry, but I can't risk the princess' safety any more then I already have. And since you joined us, I can't risk your safety either.." He paused for a moment to think over what Torhu had said about shopping. "As for your request Torhu..We need to see a man in Omashu first. He's holding on to some funds of mine that we're going to need."

Torhu nodded. She then kept silent, wondering how Nina would react. Something was wrong, that much was obvious. She just had no idea what to say. And if Takashi was willing to do this for her, and keep the both of them safe, then she ould be fine with it. The question seemed to be, would Nina stay with them, or comprimise her own sftey, and perhaps theirs as well?

"Fine.." Nina growled out, a scowl on her features. She wrapped her arms around her waist, hugging herself as she shifted her gaze to the water. She knew she was being childish, but right now. She really didn't care. Sighing just a bit, Nina then scooted back, putting as much distance between herself and the other two as humanly possible in the small boat. She knew Takashi was just looking out for Torhu, but at the moment, Nina couldn't find it in her to care about anything. Everything she had left in the world might just have been taken from her. Great now your really being childish..C'mon Nina just think..There will be a way to get away..Just wait. The young girl thought to herself, sighing as she tried to get her many emotions under control.

Takashi remained quiet throughout the rest of their voyage. He had upset Nina, it was pretty obvious. The last thing he had planned to do was separate them like this, but he wasn't about to let the girl run head first into trouble. And, he wasn't about to risk Torhu's safety so Nina could get back into the death trap they just left. So, he'd try and talk some sense into her. But later, once she'd calmed down. In the meantime, Takashi would continue rowing, trying to fit together the plan that was unfolding inside his head. He had a good idea of how to find the avatar, but there was still the problem of finding suitable benders who would be willing to help. He guessed Nina would come along, once they told her why they're doing all this. But, as for when to tell her, that was another obstacle.

Night soon fell, which was rather good news for Takashi. They had finally made it to the Earth Kingdom. Omashu was still a few hours' walk, but it was getting closer. Takashi found a quiet, hidden cove to hide the boat, and slowly crept onto the land, checking to be sure the Fire Nation hadn't made another checkpoint. Everything seemed to be natural, which had the fire bender worried. "I don't like this.. If the Earth King has declared war on the Fire Nation, there should be a huge wall around the coast, or some other kind of protection. But, there's nothing here.."

"Yeah? Me either..." Torhu made an on the spot desicion. She pulled her hair down, letting it just fall naturally around her shoulders. She also grabbed her right sleeve, and pulled. It ripped at the seam on the shoulder, revealing a bare arm, with a lot of burn scars traveling in a spiral pattern all the way from wrist to shoulder. It wasn't the best disguise of all time, but it certianly would keep fire nation soldiers from recognizing just who she was from a distance. She took a sideways glance at Takashi and caught him staring at her right arm. "Let's get out of here..."

Once an Item has been created, it can be spawned in the IC using /spawn Item Name (case-sensitive, as usual) — this can be followed with /take Item Name to retrieve the item into the current character's inventory.

Mobs

Give your Universe life by adding a Mob, which are auto-replenishing NPCs your players can interact with. Useful for some quick hack-and-slash fun!

Mobs can be automated spawns, like rats and bats, or full-on NPCs complete with conversation menus. Use them to enhance your player experience!

By marking a character as abandoned, you can offer them to your players as pre-made character sheets.
