There are many names for Gabriel and what they are, some of which no human could possibly pronounce, nor is Gabriel's age really perceivable in the form of human thought, but it is helpful to understand that Gabriel was one of God's first Archangels to be made. Which makes Gabriel older than earth. Though technically Gabriel doesn't feel the need to claim a gender, since Gabriel's banishment from heaven they have been trapped in the body of a woman who stands at five feet eleven inches and weighs one-hundred and twenty pounds, who bares a striking resemblance to Tilda Swinton and whose color code is #563f46.

If Lucifer was God’s favourite, and Michael his second, then it is Gabriel who was his third. Currently, Michael is the only one who has retained God’s favour, the only tool of the three who has continued to do what they were made to do flawlessly. The perfect servant. Normally an angel cast down to the realm of earth is hissed at and admonished as a fuck up by the others of its ilk. But Gabriel is among the eldest of them all, they were so high in rank that even cast down, there is a certain level of respect and intimidation they still hold. As a result, they are rarely in contact with other angels, and this is ever since the morning star Lucifer was cast down to a realm called hell. For most of humanity’s existence, Gabriel has been on earth, living with and interacting with humans. It isn’t really that long, in terms of time compared to before humans existed, but it somehow seems like an eternity to Gabriel. To be corporeal and experience life at the pace of humans stretches on much longer than it did existing in their true form. Humans are exhausting, and do not have the rules and ways that angels do. They have free will, entirely and unequivocally, whereas even on earth Gabriel only has it partially. The only other angel to have free will in its entirety was Lucifer and what he did with it was unnatural and traitorous, even going to far as to infect others of their kind and turn them to his own command. Gabriel has learned that free will means trouble, but they must admit, it makes things interesting.

It’s no surprise that Gabriel’s relationship with humanity is complicated, God ordered that all his angels bend the knee to humanity and love them, as he loves them, and so Gabriel does. But jesus shit if God had to live with them rather than just watch them on the daily they suspect that God would feel differently. Humans can be infuriating and exhilarating, incredible and disappointing, predictable and surprising all in the same day. Humans have become Gabriel's purpose on and off in their period of time on earth, pulling away and pushing in. Becoming entangled in their minutia and dropping it for any reason they deem good enough. Gabriel always comes back, eventually, and probably always will. They aren't good at just keeping to themselves, never have been an arguably weren't made to.

There is a lot Gabriel can do effortlessly, lying and acting is one of them. Gabriel is unashamedly good at manipulation, and skirts other moralities effortlessly and without regret. Morality for an angel is different than it is for a human, and they understand morality in a different way. Besides, to Gabriel humans are humans, and they owe morality to their brethren more than they do to humans, even having been cast out of heaven. That isn't to say that Gabriel is entirely devoid of care for humans or that they don't feel for them, but it's more like a fondness for a pet then it is for a loved one. Gabriel still thinks of people as primates, just ones who can talk. There has, in the past, been the odd lover here and there, surprisingly, but never for too long. Humans get tired of Gabriel as Gabriel gets tired of them, there are those who can handle a harsh personality but Gabriel can be more than harsh. They are a being not at all human forced into a human container, while Gabriel can appear enigmatic and entrancing, at some point they all realize that Gabriel is too much. That the burns are not worth the ecstasy. When high Gabriel is very high, and when low Gabriel is very low. Gabriel is dramatic, even by angel standards, it made them the life of the party (what, you think humans invented the concept of parties? Oh please, you haven't lived till you've been to an angel throw down), and the happy distraction towards whatever Lucifer and Michael were fighting about again. When they were all three still together at least.

You can expect plenty of snark conversing with a Gabriel who is not masking themselves in any facade, they can wax biblical poetic one sentence and make a pop culture reference in the next. They have witnessed much in the course of history and can be more than a little condescending.
