.:: Describe Physical Appearance ::.
Hoss is a 36 year old, generally fit man. He reaches 5' 11" and weighs about 200 Ibs. He's got a somber way to walk, but he keeps a mostly good posture. His steps are calculated and rhythmic, something he picked up from the Corps. He's mostly muscled with just a slight belly from drinking and age, and his presence is usually intimidating.

His face is soft, yet distinguished. His hair, ragged; it reaches down to his shoulders at times. The strawberry blond hair is usually pulled back or kept tied. His face is covered by well-kept facial hair, a beard and a van dyke of certain esteem.

He is everything Austin. Cowboy. Hipster. Scraggly. Strong. He wears jeans, button-down shirts and leather vests. His black cowboy boots are tattered, with the sole partially peelin' off the cut. He would wear a cowboy hat to go 'long with them, but he's never liked how hats shaped his hair. From time to time, especially in cities with heavy Military presence, he'll wear a thick duster coat or a hoodie.

.:: Clothing Description ::.

"I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane."

Image
.:: Personality ::.
Aloof || Commanding || Charismatic || Spiritual
With a intimidating presence but a soft face, Hoss places himself as a natural leader. As founder and 1st & 4th President of the Fireflies, his word is usually taken without much debate. Why? Generally he seems likes he knows what he's talking about. Quick to judge, quick to move, and quick to win.

He may not always win in a fight, but he's always been one to get and shake the winner's hand when he loses. That being said, that usually applies to opponents who don't want to infect him. He understands very well that every action he takes could very well mean life or death. "At any moment," he tells his companions, "my ass could be a second away from the Devil's brand."

In a sense, Hoss is a spiritual leader for many survivors. A mystic, in some regards. His stark Christians messages of hope and perseverance, coupled with an unquenched patriotic dream of a pre-infection America, has carried to many quarantine and free zones alike. Among the most ardent Fireflies, he's spoken of like a prophet. Among the military, he's Satan. Among average survivors, he's a misty legend. With his friends? He's usually a drunken asshole who's just in it for sex but never for love. He can't love again, and nobody really knows what he's feeling.

.:: Likes ::.
    -sad country songs
    -brandy
    -whiskey
    -good tobacco
    -people who call him daddy

.:: Brief Background ::.
Hoss was born in Austin, Texas, the son of a well-to-do Czech Texan named William Black, and a ravishing Mexican bonita named Frances Morelia. Hoss grew up in a good time to be Texan, with a lot of growth and business all around him. His family never really struggled for much. His “pa” would take him out go to hunting, fishing and camping; his mom taught him how to cook, to pray and to sew.

When he graduated from Catholic school at the age of 18, he went on to attend Texas A&M University, where his parents had met 25 years prior. He was in the Corps of Cadets, and studied political theory. He was rather popular student; student body president, Corps Commander, and member of a fraternity. He met his wife, Darlene, and they married in junior year. He graduated in the early part of 2014… the year the infection broke out.

For a good year or two, Texas had been mostly spared from major infections. El Paso and Houston were the first cities to see a large rise of infection. Still, even with the running start to prepare, Texas, too, fell to the infectious hordes. Galveston, Corpus Christi and Houston are all depopulate wastelands. Dallas is a major quarantine zone. El Paso is a warzone. All that remained was the heavily fortified Austin.

Hoss’s father, rallied a noble group of Texans to fight the onslaught of infected, as well as to hold off any military intervention. With Fort Hood so closeby, the first conflicts were ferocious. His father was eventually executed by the military, but not without his spirit living on. Enraged, Hoss declared the reestablishment of the American government and founded the Fireflies.

Convening in the old state capitol of Texas, the Fireflies elected an elder survivor as President of the Republic, and Hoss, as Chief of the Fireflies, was Vice President, and using the U.S. Constitution, and appointed wartime legislative and judicial branches of the government. Hoss’s youth and wealth were the driving forces behind the Fireflies’ rapid growth. Many fireflies died but they saved a lot more survivors. Their biggest victory came when securing Fort Hood and ensuring Central Texas as a haven for survivors.

In 2018, however, the Fireflies encountered the largest masse of infected ever seen in Texas; it swarmed across the hill country and gobbled up whatever it was in its path. The battle was long and the city of Austin was nearly destroyed. In the end, the Fireflies were the victors – maintaining the city as a safezone. But at what cost? Darlene, Hoss’s beloved, and their two daughters were infected – eliminated.

Hoss officially renounced any position in the Fireflies’ government and turned to organizing relief efforts for those infected. He spent most of the next few years honing his skills with firearms and dealing with grief. But the Fireflies begged him to return when researches theorized the existence of a cure. He’s spent the last 5 years searching across the country for this cure.

So begins...

We are born. We die. Somewhere in between we live. And how we live is up to us.

It took Winter very little time to confirm the arms shipment and rush but to the Smuggler's base, aka home. The minute she reached the door she heard her pups rushing towards her, the three large canine's almost tackling Winter as she closed the door behind her.

"Wow boys." she soothed them, making them wag their tails rapidly as she pet them.

"Hey Jimmy I'm back!" Winter shouted through the hallways as she made her way to the garage. A small smile graced her feature's when she saw Adey.

"Hey Adey how was...." Winter began but was interrupted as Phillip, a military man who was friends with the smuggler's, came in with a new guy. Who looked ~and smelt~ like he really needed a shower. And really had to stop eye raping Adey, whom had scurried over to the man's side to help patch up his wounds. Winter pointed out the things she was forgetting to do and instructed Adey on the proper treatments. But all Winter really wanted to do was take Adey away from this new guy, he was starting to creep Winter out and he wasn't even looking at her. The three dogs growled menacingly at the man.

"She's a bit young for you buddy so stop fucking staring at her like that" Winter snapped once Adey was done with the patch up. Winter gently took Adey by the arm and helped her to her feet then pulled the younger girl slightly behind her.

"Who did you bring us Phillip?" Winter asked, folding her arms over her chest so she gave the man a once over. She unfolded her arms and placed her hands on her hips, fingers ready to grab for her pistol if the guy tried anything funny.

"Don't know his name but we found him on the out skirts just kinda walking around, I brought him here cause he put up one hell of a fight and I know your missing a scout since Xavier got bitten" Phillip answered. Winter nodded her head. It was true they needed a new scout, they have been needing one for a few weeks now ever since Xavier, rest his soul, got bitten trying to protect Winter. She felt responsible for his death cause if he knew she was immune he wouldn't of helped her. But only Jimmy knew she was immune.

"Whats your name? Tell me or else I'll just be calling you Blondie." Winter addressed the strange man. Even though Jimmy was leader Winter, being the unofficial second in command of the smuggler's, dealt with more of the talking and Jimmy more of the beating the living shit out of people for information. Gotta love him ♥

"Hey Adey since the deer won't be ready for a while go get Blondie here some water and food from the kitchen please" Winter said polity.

I'm terrified of the day that I will welcome death with open arms.

Being elbow deep in deer blood wasn't something that Adey enjoyed, but they needed to eat and she had to pull her weight around the place she called home. She felt immensely better once she had gotten cleaned up after being dismissed from organ duty. Settling in she began sorting through her finds of the day. A few of the exhibits had had cards that listed the common uses and names of the plants, but they all had large words like Adey had never seen before. Despite her father reinforcing the habit, there is only so much you can read while on the run. Some of the unnamed flora had strange aromas and she really wanted to get Winnie's opinions on what they could be used for.

"Hey Adey how was...." Speak of the devil, Winnie's voice broke through the silence only to be cut off by a loud commotion at the mouth of the tunnel leading to their little hideout. Unintelligible shouting was followed by Phillip forcing a large man into the clearing. His pained yell forced her too her feet and into "medic mode" as Winnie called it. She abandoned her bag, only grabbing the med kit, and approached the causes of the ruckus.

"Doc!" Adey shouted as she jogged towards the collapsed man. She was sure that Winnie had also heard the noise these two were making, she was standing right next to her, but calling out her name made Adey feel more confident.

She knelt next to the stranger and took in his appearance spotting various injuries, new and old. He looked worse-for-wear and as though he fought the entire way here. Despite her growing drowsiness, she put on her most calming smile and began to reach for his arm. "I'm just going to stitch you up. I'll only do what I absolutely need to. Alright?" He didn't reply, but he also didn't try to pull away.

Taking that for the go ahead, she stitched up the long gash on his arm and tried to ignore his intense gaze. His blue eyes were a little unnerving and she avoided the urge to squirm. She decided to break the silence by calling to Winnie, "Doc, some of these wounds look like they might be infected. Not infected infected, just gross." Turning her concerned gaze to the man's face, she added, "You may need to wash them pretty soon."

Almost immediately after finishing the last stitch, she was whisked away by Winnie's gentle grasp. Once she was positioned safely behind the older woman, she blushed, appreciative of the protectiveness that was shown to her. Listening to the exchange between Phillip and Winnie got her thinking about Xavier. It wasn't quite the same without him, but she had grown used to losing those she cared about. It still wasn't any easier.

She was pulled out of her reminiscing by Winnie's request to get the newcomer food. With a small nod and an encouraging smile to Blondie, as she'd taken to calling him, she ran off in the direction from which she'd come.

We are born. We die. Somewhere in between we live. And how we live is up to us.

Winter heard someone knocking on the door and decided to leave Blondie up to Jim. The dogs followed her walking around her feet and almost making her fall over as the leaned against her legs while she walked. A huge smile graced Winter's feature's when she opened the door and saw who it was.

"Alex long time no see." Winter said cheerfully and wrapped her arms around his torso, giving him a quick hug. Hey its rare thing when Winter hugs you so cherish it. The dogs barked excitedly, being quite fond of Alex. But then Winter noticed Shadow was looking off into the darkness near the barrels located just beside the outside door to the garage. She started barking and Winter saw a small dark figure rush out from behind the barrels. Winter slipped past Alex and immediately rushed after the figure and being the fast runner Winter is she caught the person quickly, grabbing the figures arm and yanking them back. Now winter was very physical strong so it surprised her when she easily whisked the figure off its feet and made it fall to the ground. Winter reached into her belt and pulled out her pistol, turning on the light that was connected to it. When she saw it was a child she put the gun down right away and took the small flashlight she had out of her back pocket and shone it on the girl. Now usually if anyone else Winter would never put down her gun and she would demand what they wanted, but Winter has always had a soft spot for children. Winter knelt down so they were eye level.

"Sorry about that I didn't mean to hard you if I did but you shouldn't be wondering around at this time of night" Winter lightly scolded the girl giving her a stern look behind she reached out and gently took the arm she had grabbed onto. Going into Doc mode Winter scanned the girl for injuries, only seeing a few cuts and bruised but thankfully Winter hadn't grabbed the small girl hard enough to cause any damage. Winter could feel this ever growing protectiveness she felt whenever she was with a child, start to grow and before the small girl could do anything Winter scooped her up in her arms and carried her back to the hide out.

"Look what I found, I'm going to go feed and treat her, I'll be upstairs if you need me." Winter told Alex as she walked up to him. She once again passed him and the dogs crowded around again, following Winter upstairs. Gently Winter placed the girl on the worn out brown couch and walked over to a small fridge, getting out a bottle of water and a few packaged cookie's. these would have to do until the deer was cooked. Winter walked over to the sink and placed the items on the counter. She grabbed a cloth and wet it down with water then grabbed the food and walked back over to the girl.

"Here sweet heart this should do for now, we have a deer down stairs you can have some of that once its cooked" Winter said kindly as she handed the small girl the cookies and water. Then Winter sat down and proceeded to wipe off the dirt from the girl's face. The small girl was so dirty Winter couldn't even tell what her hair color was.

"I'll have to go run you a bath, its gonna be cold sadly but I'll make sure to get you some warm clothes" Winter said. Whenever she was with a kid she always went into, what the other's called it, Mama Bear Mode. Winter didn't know why she felt this but she thinks its because she doesn't want other children you experience what she had when she was young. She wanted to do for them what Jim did for her. Without a word Winter got off the couch and walked to the bathroom. A huge blue barrel of water was attached to the shower head but Winter knew the girl would need a bath, so she took a bucket and started scooping water into the tub. Winter got out some strawberry bubble bath Jim found her when she was 13 and poured some into the tub and then continued filling it until half the bath tub was filled with sweet smelling soapy water. She walked back to the girl.

"Your bath is ready....of whats your name?" Winter asked. Just then Kennedy, another smuggler, walked up the stairs.

"Hey Winnie who's that?" Kennedy asked pointing at the small girl.

"I don't know I found her outside, oh hey Kennedy can you go into the storage room and look for some warm clothes for her?" Winter asked and Kennedy nodded her head before disappearing down the hallway, but Winter had heard her mumbled 'Mama Bear' comment.

"Alright lets get you in the bath" Winter said to the small girl, giving her a warm smile.

"There ain't no use in wondering why, babe."

The sun was setting - it always seemed to set quicker each night since the infection first broke. Twelve years. Made a man almost want to vomit.

Which is exactly what Hoss usually did every night - at least since he lost everything. For the past five years, he'd been doing it in a different city every week or so. Only this time it was in Washington.

Hoss made his base in the darkened ruins of an old apartment complex just over the Potomac on the Dixie side of the city. While he would much rather preferred to be in the "safe" zone, among fellow uninfected, he probably would have been picked up by a patrol. For the wanted and mysterious leader of the fireflies, dealing with the infected was a lot easier than dealing with soldier boys.

Him and Carolyn had arrived in the city that morning. Sent by the Congress back in Austin, they had gone out with thirteen other fireflies in search of the Cure, or as Fireflies researchers dubbed it - "Terminal Synthesis". In reality, it was a mathematical hypothesis that due to catalysis, a human would be born with an ability to absorb the infection and eliminate it. It wasn't in Seattle, Salt Lake, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago or anywhere for that matter. One by one, each of the team was picked off, either by the monsters or the infected.

Carolyn and Hoss had cleared out the apartment complex this morning, but the area wasn't too infested to begin with. Surprisingly, the locks and doors were intact. A few hours back, Carolyn left to go out scouting, leaving Hoss to attempt some sort of contact with homebase. No luck so far. Gave him enough time to build a fire and plan their route for tomorrow.

As he lit up his pipe and softly let it flare up, he heard a distant voice. Could hardly make it out, but something about a curfew. Quarantine zone. Probably where the cure was, if it was going to be in this city. He and Carolyn would have to find a way to circumnavigate the guards into the complex, investigate for a few hours, and then sneak out. Then on to the next clandestine part of the trek.

By now, it had gotten rather dark, but Hoss didn't worry too much for Carolyn. Two reasons, mostly. Firstly, she was a big girl, and handled herself well. Secondly, he was enjoying his smoke far too well to be bothered by it. No, he didn't disregard her humanity. He enjoyed her company, as it were. But he didn't love anyone. Anymore, at least. He had seen so many die in the past twelve years, he knew not to get too close to anyone.

And it wasn't so much that Hoss wasn't afraid of the zombies, so much that he was getting tired of searching for something that was only theory. A pretty damn certain-sure theory, mind you, but a theory none-the-less. His promise to the fireflies that he would deliver it, however, was made at a time when he was lot more optimistic about life. Now? Even when the Sun was shining, Hoss was lost in the rain.

He wasn't sure if he wanted to move tonight, or tomorrow morning. It was probably best to stay in during the night - that seemed the most logical rule. But Hoss was getting desperate, and desperate men crave danger. He wanted to get in and get out so he could get back home and fight the damned things on his own damn terms. Either way, he had to wait till Carolyn returned before he made a decision - if she returned.

Carolyn had found a decent spot, it was a pretty clear opening through the barrier around the safe zone. Some of the razor wire had come loose and it would be an easy climb onto the roof old porta potty, then up the chain link over the disassembled wire and onto the balcony of a building. With a lick and a promise that they wouldn't be seen.

"Place is fucking crawling with soldiers right now". She adjusted the sights of the binoculars. "Probably should wait till the morning when their between patrol shifts. Right now they'd see us sure as shit". deciding that it would be the best choice of action she decided to head back and report to Hoss.

It had been kind of a bitch clearing out the abandoned apartment building that they had set up camp in. But at least it wasn't out in the open, and had a decent roof. Carolyn was tired of place with leaky, holy roofs, it was dry and now clear of infected so they could try to get some decent sleep tonight. Well as decent as you can in the world of chaos they lived in. When she made it back to where they were held up she pulled open the heavy door and closed it behind her locking it. Then for good measure she barred the door with an old dresser. She was sure she and Hoss had got rid of all the infected that were in the building, but better safe than sorry.

"I think I found a way in, it's kind of a long shot but it's better than nothing Hoss. We should probably wait till shift change though, place is crawling with military dick wads right now". She set down her pack it making a thud on the ground of the room, kicking up a slight cloud of dust.

She soon followed the pack sitting down on the floor next to it, then she began to rifle through looking for something to eat. She liked Hoss for the most part, he didn't dick around in a fight, and he didn't talk much two things Carolyn was good at too. When she was younger her mother used to say she could talk anyone's ears off. But now days it was best to keep your mouth shut, so you can hear whats going on, but mostly so something don't hear you. Maybe that had been the problem with the others, their had been almost a whole squad when they left the base. But with each new area, one by one they were either picked off by military, marauders, or the infected. Now it was down to just her and Hoss, Carolyn just hoped this was all fucking worth it. She liked to believe in this whole fucking cure thing, but her life up to this point had taught her one thing. Hope was for people, who didn't want to face reality.

"So... whats our next move Hoss?".

It ain't no use in turning on your light, babe.

"I think I found a way in, it's kind of a long shot but it's better than nothing Hoss. We should probably wait till shift change though, place is crawling with military dick wads right now." Carolyn set down her pack it making a thud on the ground of the room, kicking up a slight cloud of dust. She sat down next it, not too far from Hoss. They say there for awhile in silence as she looked through her stuff. Hoss was idly chewing on a bit of hard tack and sipping at his now-dead pipe. They tended to understand each other quite well, never having to provoke each other, nor were they overly cold. It was a decent camaraderie.

"So... whats our next move Hoss?" Carolyn finally asked, breaking through the silence. Hoss took a deep breath and looked up at her.
"Honestly? I'm not sure. I want to move now. This place gives me the creeps. But if what you're saying is right... well then, we'll have to wait till the dawn breaks." Hoss stood up and quietly moved to a room in the back of the apartment. Used to be a bedroom, he figured. Earlier, he had found a couple of pills and a screwdriver. Whatever was left from the mattress was just cotton and springs, now. The rest of the suite was pretty empty - a skeleton of a home: broken cupboards, shattered porcelain, years old stains, and a few tattered naughty magazines. But it was a place to stay, and those don't come around too often.

A few moments later, he came out back into the front room and said, "I'm sorry about Bill a couple miles back. I would have killed him myself, but... I don't know." Bill was the last Firefly to get killed, only a day or so ago. Got grabbed by a clicker. They peeled the damn thing off, but he was bit, and Hoss hesitated to take him out of his misery. Third time Carolyn had to clean up.

It had been quiet between them for a while, but that was pretty common between Carrie and Hoss. Neither one of them were much for conversation. He had agreed with, her about waiting till dawn when they knew the military was doing the shift change and wouldn't be on active patrol, making it easier for them to hop the fence. He also voiced his uneasiness of where they were, and frankly she didn't blame him, but they'd been in worse places that's for damn sure. Carrie could tell that Hoss was getting restless as he paced around the decrepit apartment. Carrie concentrated on keeping her ears open for anything, even though she was pretty sure that they were safe for the moment.

"I'm sorry about Bill a couple miles back. I would have killed him myself, but... I don't know."

Carrie sighed and shook her head, "Hoss don't beat yourself up over it, how many have you had to do in yourself... Frankly I can take a few for you. It's not like I had any love loss over Bill.... he was a sick son of a bitch that liked to talk about raping girls when you weren't around. A toddler was a better shot than he was, and I'm surprised the sleazy fucker lasted as long as he did". She began to rifle through her backpack again.

She pulled out a bottle of whiskey, "Here, I think both of us can use a drink. Found this in that old liquor store we passed on the way here. Thought I would hold on to it, just in case we needed it to treat a wound or something, but sometimes... you just need a drink". She opened up the bottle and took a smell. "Fuuuuck this smells like some good shit, don't know how to rate whiskey though Hoss... you tell me". Carrie smirked as she handed the bottle over to him.

She looked out the window as the last hints of daylight began to fade, they would have to try to get some sleep soon, if they wanted to be alert enough to accomplish what they planned to do in the morning. She glanced down in her bag the corner of a photograph sticking up. The edges were worn and one of the corners were missing, but it was all Carrie had left of the life she had before. Picking it up out of its spot she dusted it off and she just sighed and shook her head. She didn't want to get all sentimental in front of Hoss not like it would do any good to try to relive the past now any way. Turning it over she read the back, Carrie age six, Adey age six months this was why she joined the Fireflies, so that another kid wouldn't end up like her with no family and nothing but an old picture. She shoved the picture back in her bag, really wanting a drink now.

We are born. We die. Somewhere in between we live. And how we live is up to us.

"Its nice to meet you Erin now if you will just follow me...." Winter stopped when she heard Jim shouting from down stairs then Alex shouting about his rules. Oh yes rule #2 don't be a saint blah blah blah.

"Jimmy go suck an egg and Alex shove your rules up your ass alongside that 7 foot pole!" Winter shouted back, her ever present trucker mouth making itself known. Hey blame Jim for her potty mouth, he may not act it now but he swore worse then her once upon a time. Winter turned back to Erin just as Kennedy came back and handed Winter the spare clothes then went back down stairs.

"Alright as I was saying I'll show you to the bat...." Winter started again but another thing interrupted her. And that thing was in a form of the loud sound of the front door being kicked open. Shit! Without saying anything Winter grabbed Erin by her arm and pulled her with her down the hallway. They bypassed the bathroom and went straight into the small room that was Winter's. She slammed the door and locked it then went to the open window and jumped out, landing on the fire escape.

"Come on" Winter whisper shouted at Erin as she pulled the girl out through the window. Winter pulled her up the stairs and up to the roof then dunked behind an air vent and took her hunting knife from her belt. The weapon felt natural in Winter's hand as she waited for whatever happened next.

|| Point of View: Second in Command of Firefly base stationed in Washington, Kellan Mason ||

One of there scouts had spotted the girl. The Cure. That little brat had been causing problems for them since day one. Why was she so hard to find? Damn it! But atleast Captain Hoss Black would be happy his search is over.

What pissed Kellan off was the fact that they spotted the girl entering Smuggler territory. How that group of bastards always seemed to get the upper hand on them without even trying always served to steam Kellan up. He isn't a patient man so the moment they found the girl they made their move. Getting a group of fifteen fireflies, all heavily armed, Kellan kicked down the door to the Smuggler's main base and his fellow fireflies stormed in.

"Round up everyone, you all have the list of people to keep alive then rest not on the list just shoot them" Kellan ordered. Before anyone could do anything the fireflies had rounded up Jim, Adey and Erik. They had shot the rest of the smuggler's and had the three alive one's on their knees, hands tied behind their backs and guns pointed at their heads. Kellan frowned.

"Sir, Winter Duke can't be found in the building and the Cure isn't here neither, she must be with Duke" a firefly reported to Kellan.

"Smart little bitch got out once she heard once, get these assholes in the trucks we will take them to Mr.Black" Kellan ordered. He had been studying these Smuggler's for a long time and he knew Winter Duke would do anything to get her comrades back. So with that thought he and the rest of the fireflies took the four smuggler's and took them out of the safe zone and to Hoss Black. The sun was rising by the time they reached the area he and his scout were staying in.

We are born. We die. Somewhere in between we live. And how we live is up to us.

Winter watch the scene unfold from beneath her perch on the roof. She watched as those bastard fireflies took and shot the smuggler’s. They were killing her family! How dare they! As she watched the tail end of the truck disappear from her line of sight only one primal thought ran through her mind.

‘They will all die’

She knew there were still firefly men in the building, most likely searching for any survivor’s. She needed to get off this roof, she was useless from up here.

“Come on” she growled coldly at Erin, her temper starting to get the best of her as an aura of bloodlust seemed to emit from every pore in her body. At the moment she was a force not to be reckoned with.
She kept her hunting knife in her right hand and took ahold of Erin’s arm in her other, practically dragging the girl to the fire escape. She then lifted the small girl over her shoulder and ignored any protest as she swiftly climbed down in the alley. Even though Winter wasn’t physical strong she was fast and agile and at the moment was being driven by a primitive need to kill and that fluid her body enough so that she didn’t even really feel Erin on her shoulder. Once her feet were firmly planted on the crack concrete she put Erin down. Winter heard her name being called and turned around to see Alex. She felt her cold steely glare soften slightly as she saw he was okay. Atleast some survived. She took Erin’s arm again, this time not so hard, and dragged her over to Alex.

“Alex this is Erin watch her I’ll be right back” Winter said sternly as she let go of Erin and walked out of the alley, leaving the two behind. She could feel her rage start to overtake again as she entered the house. She walked straight towards a firefly, his back turn to her, lifted her hunting knife and slashed his neck making him fall to her feet as blood gushed from the wound. Not stopping there Winter made quick work of the other Fireflies in the building, dodging melee attacks and rounds of bullets. Of course she got grazed a few times, its hard not to when bullets are constantly being shot at you but it still took her no time at all to finish off the Fireflies that stayed behind and grabbed everyone’s backpacks. She then went up to her room and grabbed her backpack and weapons. She sadly couldn’t grab everyone’s weapons cause it would be far to heavy but she made sure to stuff a few extra pistols and ammo in her pack. She knew there were weapons in the other’s backpack but its just a precaution. Once Winter grabbed everything she went back out to where she left Erin and Alex. She tossed Alex his pack and gun and give Erin her backpack. Winter then kneeled down so she and Erin were eye to eye and held out a pistol.

“This is a 9mm pistol with a silencer, its got no safety and the magazine is full and all you basically do is point and shoot but Erin listen I am giving this to you for emergencies only so unless you really need it keep it hidden” Winter said sternly then handed the gun to Erin and stood up straight.

“We’ll take the horses and track the bastards to their location, lets go” Winter ordered and started towards the underground tunnels that would lead them outside. Winter whistled and moments later Shadow, Lugnut and Bear joined them, their fur on edge as they took a protective stance beside Winter.

“Erin you will take my horse Dusty, Alex you take Smitty and I’ll take Ash and tie Raine and Red to me so they follow since we can’t take any vehicle’s the horses are the best form of transportation”
Winter said as they walked through the tunnels. It didn’t take them long to get to the abandoned stable just outside of the city. She then loaded the other’s packs on Red and tied the two horses to Ash’s saddle. She helped Erin get on Dusty and put a saddle on Smitty for Alex before climbing up on Ash.

“Alright lets get going, boys find Jim” Winter said to the dogs and they instantly got to work sniffing out the trail to the Fireflies location.
