But what did he have to show for it? What grand and mighty fortune did he command? Nothing really expect the fact he'd never been caught nor had he or his ever been forced to beg. Shade admitted this put him heads and shoulders above the many other fellows stuck in the same economic circles as he was. But to this son of an assassin it was not enough to justify the dangers of a thief's life.
Magic on the other hand, this force that seemed to impel one's will into actual reality that was worth the risks of whatever life cared to throw his way. Honestly Shade still couldn't see giving up his hard won skills in favor of magic but as he had learned blade and bow so he planned to learn stealth and magic. And thus it was time to be about the practical examples of his life.
Rising from his sitting position the thief took one look at Shazar, the wolf looked back and nodded as if to convey understanding. Which of course he did, it was a old game between them Crowd fishing as it was known involved a distraction and thieves spread throughout a crowd. It was a technique favored by some street preformers and was thus frowned upon by those in the actual business of theft. Guilds barely tolerated each other let alone independent operations. To be caught on guild territory crowd fishing earned you a place on the shit list And given the clout Guilds had it was not a good place to be.
Shade however paid his guild dues and had passed his final test. So he could operate as he saw fit. That was not to say he'd ever step over the line. Contrary to popular opinion among the Guilds there was honor and even a certain code that separated them from common street trash that were little more then beggar pretenders.
Unseen and unheard.
That was the major rule and it to was his focus. Shade faded into thin air with little more then a shimmer and in utter silence. The room looked somewhat different from behind whatever was between him and the rest of the world The bed looked coarser as if flaws previously hidden were revealed. And everything took just a bit more effort, especially speaking.
" Alright Shazar do your thing." The son of a widow who earned coin based on her herbal knowledge ordered his most faithful friend in this world and perhaps beyond. The odd echoing strain in his voice almost ruining the focus needed. For Shade had found out that was all it took when it came to invisibility. To keep his mind fixated on the words unseen and unheard. The fire he'd created a year ago was proving much harder though. He'd only had limited success and had once created frost instead of fire.
Such things were for later though, this moment the guild member had a gray wolf to follow. Any that saw the wolf would likely comment on it. Thus giving the him the time needed size up their potential as a mark.
None of them noticed the wolf, as they were all staring up at a group of girls on the second-tier balcony, across the Great Hall, on the opposite wall from Shade and Shazar. The girls in turn seemed to be focused on a door, on which one of them was knocking.
When Katherine stumbles out of the room Milhera runs over to her "Professor Clarice! I can help you if you wanted. I would be able to take away the pain and hopefully stop your cough." Milhera proceeds to looks for any other visible injures that Katherine might have at the moment. "Maybe even a long term preventative healing spell. It will slowly fix anything else going on. You should be back on your feet and healthy in no time."
"...ribs. All on left side...snapped," she explains in between short, sharp breaths.
"...mend them."
With that, she suddenly leans heavily on Milhera, apparently having lost her strength in her legs.
"No sleep...three days now."

Milhera closes her eyes once more and starts chanting while waving her hands over Katherine's torso. The broken ribs start shifting back to their origional position and fusing once more. All this movement inside the body would disrupt Katherine's nerves. Making her feel like they are being broken all over again.
When she's finished Milhera helps up Katherine and helps her walk to her room. She lays Katherine down on her bed and mutters a familer spell. "I put on a second pain killer spell so you can sleep." She waits for Katherine to respon, nods, and walks out of the room.

"Welcome to the Liminal Academy," she says, in a tone that is not, in fact, particularly welcoming. "We presently stand in the Great Hall. Those of you who arrived in a timely fashion will have already found your rooms. There is also common room for your House leading off of each balcony hall. We will not be visiting the common rooms as a group, as they are intended to be for the members of each respective House, but I trust you will manage to find them."
"On this level, there are eight classrooms surrounding the Great Hall. As you can see on their doors," she gestures, "they are named on a theme of mythological creatures: dragon, unicorn, griffin, phoenix, basilisk, pegasus, harpy, chimera."
"Now, if you will please follow me, we have some ground to cover." The Chatelaine sweeps forwards, the hem of her unfashionably long dress just brushing the floor. She takes the right-hand doorway of the two that lead to the two parallel hallways, and then immediately turns right, down another hall.
"The large doors to our right lead to the East Gymnasium, where the weapons classes are held. Ahead is the East Tower. You will find that the Auditorium is accessible from this level, or from one level up."
As they reach the end of the hall, she opens the door, allowing the students to see into the large circular room, with tiers of seats rising up into the shadows, as it is presently unilluminated. To the right of the door, stairs follow the outer curve of the room upwards, while to the right, a hall follows the same curve.
"Moving on," she says, and heads down the hall, "The library." Midway down the hall, she opens another door, to the left, and this time ushers them all inside. She looks to the young woman at the central desk. "Ms. Ladria," she says. "Would you be so kind as to go over the rules of the library for our new first-years?"
