Time Looping
Aurum
Eilian could create time loops lasting up to a solid 24 hours. People will experience the same day over and over again. They are able to change their own actions only and other people’s reactions will change as a result. The uses were limited but could be used to re-examine a situation, to figure out different solutions to a problem, or simple to mentally torture people. A loop of twenty four hours would require him to sleep almost immediately for between four and six hours.
Earth
The limit on his time loop is now approximately two hours. It drains him a little more than it would on Aurum, but thankfully he is still functional and simply requires a coffee and possibly a power nap afterwards. It’s more disorientating to the target due to the limited time, but also more disorientating than it would be on Aurum. On the one or two occasions he has used it, there’s been more of an adverse effect on the target after an extended amount of time including nosebleeds and migraines.

Time Theft;
Aurum
This ability was the one that scared Eilian the most. He could steal years from a person's life. He doesn't know if they extend his own life or simply strengthen him. The first time he did it, it was enough to kill the man. It terrified him, but the second time he succeeded in stopping before it went too far. Before he left, he was able to control the exact amount of time he would steal from someone. After the theft, he's physically stronger and faster than he was before. It lasts for a few hours and gradually fades, leaving him with a bit of a hangover, leaving him tempted to steal even more.

Earth
The most he's ever stolen has been a year, possibly two from a person, and the surge in strength left him terrified. He hasn't used it since, afraid of the possible impact and addictive tendency it could have. He doesn't understand why stealing time from humans is much more potent than stealing from people on Aurum, but it frightens him.

APPEARANCE
Image

Image
Image
Eilian is, in a word, gorgeous. With a strong jawline, dark, sultry eyes, and full lips, he gives off a bad boy look without even really trying. At 6'0", he's tall, his frame holding a surprising amount of muscle. He always wore his hair short on Aurum, but since coming to Earth, he's started to let it grow out. It reached his shoulders at his longest, but he's since cut it so it's shorter on the side and longer on top. His style falls strictly on the darker end of the scale, with greys, dark greens, dark blues, and of course, black. He's gotten a number of tattoos and has his left ear and his nose pierced. He usually wears a ring in his nose and a number of rings on his fingers, except for when he's performing. When he's performing, his style gets a little more dramatic, and he's no stranger to makeup either. Black and silver are his stage colours. He usually has his nails painted black, and they're seldom chipped.

PERSONALITY
Image

Image
Image

Perhaps the defining trait of the Time district is that of their level-headed nature. Their heart never rules their head, and their emotions never rule their decisions. And perhaps that’s why Eilian never seemed to quite fit. No matter how much he tries, his emotions always seem to win out. He’s passionate and turbulent, his emotions shifting like the weather. He can switch from fury to joy to sorrow with the drop of a hat. Growing up in the Time district, he had to learn how to fake a level-headed nature, but he hates it. It feels wrong, it feels as if he’s wearing a skin that isn’t his. His heart rules his head, his gut, every single part of him. When he was on Aurum, his powers set him apart and made others view him with fear. If he wanted to be accepted, he couldn’t let that show.

But now, Eilian can express exactly who he is. He can be angry and sad and whatever the hell he really wants to feel. He doesn’t have to hide it. Instead it’s put down as an artist’s temperament. And, ironically, this has made him more emotionally stable. Bring able to express himself has made him happier and a lot less angry. He’s just as passionate and turbulent. Having a way of expressing himself has made him more willing to explore new things. He’s generous with his time and his money. He’s a loving friend, a loving partner, and somebody who radiates energy into every room he enters. He puts others above himself without a second thought. He’d happily give up all of his abilities to get to stay doing what he loves. Music is his life and his soul, and he adores performing. He’s a natural showman, enchanting the crowds with a sarcastic comment and a grin between songs.

He’s much happier and more stable now. But he’s still liable to snap with the slightest provocation or to turn on somebody just for the slightest mistake. He’s proud and has a tendency to see the worst in people. He just wants to defend himself and to stop himself from getting hurt, which is perhaps understandable. But he goes too far and is too proud to apologize when he does hurt someone. He really has to mess up and seriously hurt someone before he’ll apologize.

HISTORY
Image

Image

Eilian’s family was never particularly happy with their social standing. It wasn’t that they struggled for the necessities. It was rather that power was almost within their reach, but just a little too far away. They were always in consideration for the council, but never quite made it. Everything they did, they did with that intent. Earn the trust of the people and get that place on the council. That wasn’t to say they didn’t love Eilian. He was their pride and joy, their heart and soul. They hoped that maybe he would one day be granted the honor of a place on the Council.

But growing up, Eilian was always a little... different. He never seemed to be able to maintain that level-headed manner of his people, always getting the giggles or letting his anger rule his decisions. His parents found this endearing. Others found it alarming. Given Eilian’s social standing, he would have been expected to take up a role as a political advisor. But if this child could not control his emotions, what kind of advisor would he make? The destructive nature of his abilities marked Eilian as different. After he accidentally killed an old man by stealing too much time, some started to consider him a threat. So when the war came, his parents sent him away as much for his own safety as anything else.

On Earth, he was scared and confused. And then he heard a violin being played on the streets. He managed to get his hands on one himself and trapped himself in multiple loops, watching the musician again and again until he grasped how the instrument worked. He spent hours and hours teaching himself to play, working bad jobs and sleeping on filthy couches to get himself by. He didn’t mind. He had music, this thing which suddenly brought him so much joy. A friend of his posted a video of Eilian playing online. His good looks and skills got him noticed by a band. They described themselves as “electrorchestral”, a style which intrigued Eilian. He auditioned and became a part of the band. It wasn’t an immediate ticket out of the bad jobs and worse apartments; but a producer noticed them and managed to get them featured on the track of an up-and-coming popstar. They weren’t immediate superstars, but their album sold enough copies for them to leave their jobs and start touring full time. And for the first time, Eilian found himself being truly happy.

“Hello.” The border guard looked up at her with an ice cold stare, and Harper quickly decided against saying anything more. She handed over her passport and documents, and stood awkwardly as the guard examined them. Once he had established that they were in order, he slowly turned to his screen and started scrolling. Harper glanced around at the queues around her, all of which seemed to be moving painfully slowly. How different it all was to Aurum, where all she had to do was scan their district emblem and wish them a pleasant day. None of the border control officers were as much as cracking a smile here. The atmosphere was tense and cold and harsh and made her skin crawl.

“Why are you visiting the United States?” The border guard suddenly droned, making her jump a little.
“I- I’m visiting some old friends.”
“Is this your first visit to the United States?”
“Yes.”
“Where will you be staying?”
“I have a hotel booked near my friend’s house.”
“Who will you be visiting?”

Jesus Christ, she was starting to feel like a criminal. She’d binged enough crime dramas late at night to know that this was basically an interrogation. Sure, she wasn’t in a cold room with a two way mirror, but the way the guard was staring at her was exactly the same way the lead detective always stared at the perp.

“Demetria Tempala.”
“How long are you planning on staying?”
“A month.” In reality she didn’t know, but her co-workers had warned her that saying that would probably result in her being kicked out of the country. That was the amount of time she’d put on her documentation. If it didn’t take quite that long, she could do some traveling. If it was going to take longer... they’d cross that bridge when she came to it.

“How much money are you bringing?” What the hell did that have to do with anything?
“Five hundred dollars.” The border guard nodded slightly, stamped her passport, and gave her documents back to her silently.

“Thank you,” she said, shoving them back into her bag and making her way to baggage claim. Traveling on Earth made her heart sink. On Aurum, she could have travelled so easily, instantaneously. How she missed it. Her bags reclaimed, she stopped briefly to double check the address. She’d taken off her jacket while on the flight and hadn’t put it back on yet. She went to pick it up... and immediately dropped it. It had become a cloak, black and gold, with her district emblem on it. She picked it back up, and the minute her hand touched it, it shifted back to her usual jacket. It had never turned that easily. Perhaps it was just because she was so homesick. That was all, she told herself, as she pulled on the jacket and stepped outside. That was all.

This was their first time playing in the US, and they were determined to make an impact. Their manager had been working with them to try and build up some publicity. And this was their biggest move. Eilian hadn’t been able to get the golden comet out of his mind, but right now, he needed to be present. An “impromptu” performance in the middle of Washington had gathered quite a lot of attention from those on their way to work. The music made Eilian feel free, the violin feeling like an extension of his body. He never could have pictured something like this for himself back on Aurum. Being a central part of something, something which wasn’t really seen as a part of his district.

But he couldn’t hide from it for ever. He would have ignored it, if it wasn’t for the name engraved on the comet that had struck earth. Demetria Tempala. The closest thing he’d had to a sister. He didn’t want to go home, but he did want to see her. So packing his violin into the case, he got in a taxi and made his way to the address he’d jotted down. He was looking forward to seeing Demi again. But he was lying if he said it wasn’t a little worrying. He didn’t want to go home. He knew that the others would. He knew that they’d all be striving to go home, and he’d have to say no, that he didn’t intend on joining them.

This was the reason he’d brought his violin with him. Well, that and he felt if he’d gone back to the hotel, he wouldn’t have been able to come back. Even in the back of the taxi, he found himself idly plucking the strings of it, the case never staying closed for longer than five minutes. It was who he had become, and he needed a visual symbol of that.

He climbed out of the car and had to do a double take, making sure he’d taken down the right address. This was... impressive. Demi was clearly doing quite well for herself. Eilian has been proud of his small, two bedroom apartment back in Brighton. But it was the right address, so he took a deep breath and knocked the door.

VIVIANNAH BELLUM
Washington DC | outfit | dialogue: #822222

Viviannah was nervous. No...afraid, for the first time in her life. AFraid of how fast everything was happening. One moment her and Demi were living as much of a normal life as they could manage, which admittedly wasn't so hard with heir abilities dulled almost to non-existent. The next, there was a giant golden chunk of metal basically within their back yard's reach. Not just any chunk of metal, but a piece of home. A home Vivi never imagined she'd get to see again. And based on what both her and Demi were experiencing, said chunk of metal brought with it much more than Dicere markings. It was as if being far from home for too long stripped them of their birth given abilities, but all it took was a small piece of their vast home planet to breathe life back into them. And although Vivi was grateful for her abilities that were slowly returning, she was hesitant. It also brought nerves, fear, and a group of strangers right to their home.

”Vi
go check and see who it is.” the raven-haired girl took one more swig of her coffee and sat the cup down with a light clink. The steps to the door were slow and calculated as she envisioned what could be on the other side of it. Once opened, Vivi stood with the knob in her hand as her dark eyes examined the face in front of hers. It was vaguely familiar. She'd met this man before, but not enough to remember his name it seemed. "ID please." she said, mimicking the words she'd heard from the border patrol on Aurum each time she traveled. For humans, being asked for an ID meant they'd be handing in a small card with basic information such as name and birthdate. For someone from Aurum, this meant something entirely different. Instead of a small, plastic card, they'd have to show their district emblem, regardless of what part of the body it was tattooed on. It was the best way of making sure each person was who they claimed to be without asking too many questions.

The first guest proved to be from the Time control district, which in turn explained why Viviannah almost recognized him. She stepped aside to let him in, allowing Demi the chance to give him his welcome. After him came a few more, to which Viviannah did the same procedure, unintentionally making herself a bouncer of sorts. Though they all checked off as legitimate, there were none she recognized until... "ID ple-" her words trailed off as the features of the man in front of her were matched to memory. Her mouth hung open for a few short seconds before she managed to form actual words. "Cas?" Of all the people she'd thought to see, Cassius was not one of them. It'd been so long since she'd last seen him. Since before the war, even. From the moment Vivi left their district to work for the Royal family, she hadn't seen Cas in person. It was surreal. His face looked so familiar...but at the same time so different.

She took a moment to let a few others in, among them was Leonardo Magnus. She imagined Oliver's face if he were there. It wasn't much of a secret that the prince had taken a liking to him. As for the reasons why Vivi had absolutely no idea. She never liked the guy. Not before the war and most certainly not now. Though she wanted to spit every profanity in her vocabulary at him, there were still others nearby soon to be wanting in. She put into play that patience Demi had so often talked to her about and simply sent let him inside with a glare before turning back to Cas, her arms instinctively folding over her chest. "I had no idea you were...I mean, it's...been a while."

Eventually we run out of time, so spend it wisely

Demetria watched as Viviannah made her way to the door to address whomever was knocking. She dried her hands and moved around the kitchen island, slowly making her way over to the door. Demi had made sure she didn’t have any meetings with anyone today since this planet reunion was a priority. The curly-haired girl wasn’t even sure who was here and how many of them would actually arrive. Even having one arrive was somewhat of an accomplishment within itself. Demi hadn’t been nervous when it was just her and Vivi in the house. She was able to rationally think through all the possibilities of what could happen and justify why summoning all these people in their home was a good idea. But now, there was someone actually at the door. As much as Demetria liked to account for everything, people were unpredictable. She was just hoping that everyone was planning on remaining peaceful.

"ID please." Immediately, Demi glanced down at her wrist. Her time district emblem stood out against her skin. She had always told people that it was just a tattoo that reminded her of home. For work, however, she had learned to cover it up. Many people in politics seem to be bothered by marks on the skin. Though she was born with this, it wasn’t something that was easily explained to the people of Earth. Today, however, there was no reason to cover it. She removed the buttoned-up shirt that was covering her arms and white shirt underneath and tied it around her waist. Now her emblem was out in the open. As people walked in, they would be able to see it and know she was from Aurum and which district she was with.

Eventually she ended up in the entryway where her raven-haired bodyguard was screening people. Demetria’s eyes widened at the sight of the first person that waltzed through the door. She would recognize him anywhere. They were so close on Aurum, basically family. His hair was longer than what she had remembered, but she could never forget the closest thing she had to a brother. ”El
” Just speaking out his name was causing her to choke up. ”You’re
alive...I can’t believe-” Demi didn’t even notice the tears were sliding down her cheeks. She skipped over to him and pulled him into a tight hug. Demetria made a mental note to make sure to address the other guests that were being let into the house, but after she has come to terms with seeing Eilian.

Her taxi driver was chatty, and that oddly put Astoria at ease. He commented on her accent, and she laughed it off, saying she had originally grew up in a rural part of Germany with that unusual accent. He told her about his travels around Europe and how much he'd loved and missed the food. "Is the food that different here?" She asked, and he laughed. That didn't make her feel at ease, but she chose to ignore it. He agreed to wait for her without charge as she checked in and left her bags in her room.

He dropped her off outside the gates. "Big crowd. You having a party?" He asked. "Not as such," she said. She paid him, and took a long look up towards the house. Someone appeared to be checking their insignias on the door, probably to be expected. Almost the whole way up to the door, there seemed to be a number of emotional reunions. She scanned the faces. A few she recognised... but nobody from her own district.

Her feet came to a stop of their own accord as that realisation sank in. Had... had anybody from her district gotten out? Was anybody left? Was she alone? No. No, she couldn't afford to think like that. She took a deep breath and made her way up the drive, pulling her jacket off in anticipation of having her emblem checked. It was close enough to procedure at home to make her feel a little more comfortable.

That comfort vanished as she saw the face standing beside the dark haired woman checking their emblems. It felt like she was dragged back in time to that escape vessel. The echo of her own scream ringing in her ears, the blood running onto the ground, and that empty, empty look in his face.

"You." She swore, managing to make the word sound like a threat, an accusation. "How dare you- what the hell do you think you're doing here?" She asked, looking straight past the woman and up into the man's face.

He jumped a little as another person appeared beside him, knocking on the door for a second time. It brought him out of his head, and it made him realise that he was about to see Demi again. A smile settled onto his face, even as his heart started to pound. It wasn't Demi that opened the door. It was a dark-haired woman that he vaguely recognised but couldn't quite place, her eyes scanning him for a moment. Then she asked him for ID. It meant something different here, but he lifted his shirt to show her the symbol on his hip. She stepped aside, and Eilian stepped into the hall.

Demi was there waiting for him. Tears streamed down her face as she recognised him, and it brought tears to his own eyes. She pulled him into a tight hug, and he wrapped his arms around her, the tears spilling over his cheeks. He didn't miss many things about home, but probably the only thing he had missed was right here, right now. The closest thing he had to a sister.

"Of course I'm alive, I wasn't going to go down without a fight," he laughed. "But look at you!" He said, stepping back to take a look at her. "Look at this house!" He laughed, looking around. "You really fell on your feet, didn't you?" He remarked, stepping back in for another hug. "It's so good to see you," he said. "I thought I was hallucinating when I saw your name on that comet, I was on hour twenty seven of no sleep," he joked. Well, partially joking. He had been on hour twenty seven of no sleep thanks to business meetings and a video shoot, and he'd thought it had all been some strange, weird dream. But then that's all people had been talking about once he had slept for about twelve hours, and he realised it was real. Demi was still alive. Now that he saw her, pride started to well in his heart. He'd only really gotten back on his feet and yet look how well she was, look how successful she seemed to be.

Eventually we run out of time, so spend it wisely

All the worries that Demetria had regarding bringing strangers into her home instantly vanished the moment Eilian wrapped his arms around her. She did not know what to expect when that message sent out, but she was beyond grateful that he had seen it and came. Demi did not know the whereabouts of her family. When she landed on Earth, she didn't even know where to begin looking. All traces of home vanished when she landed on this foreign planet and she did not know where to begin to look. Before finding Vivi, she thought that she was alone. Demi assumed that most people did not make it and that she would never see anyone she once loved again. But seeing, Eli brought hope that she did not think she still had. Demi didn’t want to let go, but only did so when he pulled away.

The redness coated her cheeks and the tip of her nose as he went on about how well she was doing for herself. Other humans with her position and wealth, seem to have the same home. Demi only purchased this place in order to fit in. She didn’t want people to think she was different or weird and snoop around. If they did, they would realize that her existence on this Earth was not normal. Many of the people she worked for had homes bigger than hers. ”I just got lucky..” she said in response to the size of her home. If she hadn’t met that politician that fateful day, she wouldn’t be where she was now.

Demi melted into the second hug, holding him even tighter. Holding him, made him real. She couldn’t materialize how warm and inviting his hugs are in her dreams. Eli was really standing before her, alive and well. She had to keep herself from crying even more. This time, Demetria pulled from the hug, wiping the few tears that lingered on her cheeks. ”I am so happy to see you again. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I have missed you.” Demi ran her fingers through her hair. ”Please tell me you have been taking care of yourself and doing well?” And just like that, her big sister and motherly nature kicked in. He has been around this whole time and she hadn’t been able to make sure that he was okay. It would kill her inside if she thought that even for a second Eli was struggling and she wasn’t there to help.

I never cared for power

Leo remained at the tree, working each side of the fidget cube in his hand. He kept his eyes on the front door and glanced around ever so often to watch more people arrive to the mansion. There were more people around than he thought. He didn’t recognize a lot of them and at the moment he could not tell if that was good or bad. Part of him was hoping that he would not be recognized. Even if no one recognized him as a Magnus, they would recognize his thunder emblem. At the moment it was hidden beneath his jeans, but he couldn’t hide it for long. Finally, the front door opened up and a dark-haired girl was standing there. He couldn’t hear what she said, but everyone was showing her different parts of their body. Leo assumed it was their emblems. ”This will be interesting.” He muttered, mostly to himself. He shoved the cube back into his pocket and pushed himself off the tree ready to head inside.

"TayTay..."

Only one person in the universe calls him that. Leonardo turned around, eyes wide as he took a moment to process Kali’s presence. He wasn’t expecting much from this impromptu call for all Aurumians, but he was definitely wasn’t expecting his sister. He was at a loss for words. Shock and relief written all over his face. ”Liah...when did you..?” When did you get to earth? Where were you on the planet? How did you make it out? Have you seen mom? Many questions, but at the moment he was just happy to see she was alive. He managed to crack a smirk. ”If I knew you were coming, I would have waited for you.” He was mostly enjoying the show. Without warning, Leonardo quickly pulled her into a hug. He was reunited with family again. He was alone for so long. He can take care of himself and he has been for a while, but being so far from home without knowing if there was ever a place he could truly call home again. It was lonely. His heart was tired. The hug did not last long, there were too many people around and Leo can only show so much affection at once. He pulled from her and gestured for the two of them to head inside. ”Let’s see if anyone will even let us in.”

He got up to the front door with Kali at his side and stared down the guard. Leo recognized the dark-haired girl as a guard from the castle. Her name was escaping him, but she was important. She demanded I.D and for a moment he just stared, showing no emotion. Leo then pulled up the right pant leg and flashed her the Thunder District emblem that was on his ankle. She seemed to approve and he walked by her. Leo waited for Kali to do the same thing and join him. He was getting bad vibes from being inside. ”If this starts to go south, we are leaving.” Leo wasn’t going to wait around if this entire situation was a waste of time. He also wasn’t going to leave without Kali. Not again.

Astoria practically choked at his reaction. He took the opportunity to scan the emblem on the inside of her elbow and wave her through, acting as if it was nothing. “How- how are you okay with that? Jesus Christ, how messed up did the war leave you? He was an innocent man! He was just doing his job! And you straight up murdered him!”

She’d thought one of the rebels had somehow gotten inside the craft when she’d heard the gunshot. She’d just been outside the door when it had happened, the gunshot making her afraid for her own life. So when one of them... one of their own, somebody who was supposed to be on their side, emerged with literal blood on his hands, she’d stood for far too long, staring at the scene. The man had been dead. He’d been killed instantly. She'd found them a pilot, one of the very few reserve pilots that hadn't fled from the fighting or been killed. They'd left, and they'd been relatively safe. But that didn't mean that the blood and the look on the dead man's face hadn't haunted her for months after.

“You’re as bad as the rebels. I hope you realize that. And I hope you’re tried as one of them,” she swore. She could feel the anger building in her veins, in her bones, so she made herself turn away and enter the house, searching for a familiar face. Plenty of familiar faces, people she recognised from home. A few she didn't. But one thing stood out to her. There wasn't a single soul from her district there. Just her. Did the teleportation district even still stand? Was she the only one left? All around her were heartfelt reunions, and she didn't know what to feel. Because this was the closest she'd been to home in years. No. She had to keep her chin up. If nobody was here, there had to be someone waiting for her at home. There had to be.

He hadn't even realised how much he'd missed Demi. He'd found himself wondering, wondering if she'd made it out, worrying about how she was doing. His world had become such a whirlwind in the past year or so that he'd hardly had time to think, and Aurum had been the last thing on his mind. But he'd never stopped wondering about Demi. And knowing now that she was doing so well... it was impossible not to be extraordinarily happy.

He laughed as she asked if he was looking after himself. "Well..." he started, a little uncertainly, before laughing. "I'm doing fine. More than fine, actually. I, uh... I joined a band," he admitted. "And we're doing pretty okay. Shows all over the UK, Europe, that kind of thing. Got a few shows coming up in the area," he said, making it sound as if it was no big thing. But then he broke into a grin. "It's amazing, Demi. There's no feeling like it, it's incredible. You should come to one of the shows!" He gushed. He was aware of more and more people arriving, aware that he was hogging Demi's attention, and completely aware that he didn't care. This meant more to him than he could put into words. The flights out here had been expensive, and he was kinda banking on Demi letting him stay because the flights had drained his bank account and a hotel had been a little out of his price range. But he'd do it all again, just to see her.

He knew in the back of his head that this golden comet had to be a message, one way or another. And the thought of going home... well, it wasn't one that was entirely welcome. But seeing everyone here was just so incredible. This was the only thing he'd missed about home, and he fully intended on enjoying it.
